Coordinate geometry is an important part of mathematics. It helps students develop thinking, logic, and problem-solving skills. This study was conducted to test the effectiveness of the CORE learning model in promoting students' mathematical problem-solving skills when they learn the method of coordinates in a plane. Consequently, this study used mixed methods as a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design, with assessment tools including pretest, post-test, classroom observation, and attitude survey. The data collected were quantitatively analyzed with JASP and qualitatively analyzed. The analysis findings demonstrate that the students in the experimental group performed better academically in terms of knowledge and problemsolving skills and had more optimistic learning attitudes. In particular, a correlation test was performed on the pre-and post-test scores of the experimental group. It showed that with a correlation level of 0.810, according to the Hopkins reference table, the scores of the students in the experimental group were higher than those of the control group due to the effectiveness of the CORE learning model in promoting students' problem-solving abilities. In addition, the study identified certain limitations and proposed new research directions for the future.

Flipped classroom is one of the teaching models that swaps students' learning space between learning in and before class. GeoGebra software is a dynamic math software that positively affects math teaching, especially geometry, and develops students' problem-solving abilities. The study was conducted to test the effect of combining flipped classrooms and GeoGebra in teaching math on students' outcomes, learning attitudes and problem-solving abilities. This study involved 74 students in 7th grade, including 37 students in the experimental group and 37 in the control group. Results from qualitative and quantitative data of pre-tests, post-tests, classroom observations and surveys show that students in the experimental group who learned with flipped classroom and GeoGebra have better problem-solving ability, results and learning attitudes. Specifically, with the significance level [alpha] = 0.05 and degrees of freedom df = 72, the observed significance level (Sig. 2-tailed) is 0.010, an independent samples t-test of two groups in post-test indicates that the results of the experimental group were significantly higher than that of the control group. Besides, with the significance level [alpha] = 0.05, the observed significance level (Sig. 2-tailed) is 0.000, and the paired t-test results reveal that the experimental group has a higher mean score in the post-test. The influence level (ES) is close to 0.64, showing that the combination of the flipped classroom and GeoGebra in the teaching of this study has a positive impact on learning outcomes and students' problem-solving ability. On the other hand, the student survey results are observed that students have a positive learning attitude toward this teaching process. In addition to the obtained results, the study also points out the remaining limitations and proposes new research directions.

Mobile learning (m-learning) is a crucial educational technology for teacher education due to its significant benefits and the development of mobile technology. This study's objective is to conduct a systematic review and present a recent synthesis of the m-learning literature from 2018 to 2023 in teacher education relating to subject publication year, geographic distribution, matter domains, mobile devices and technologies used, research methodologies used to examine the implementation of m-learning, results for pre-service teachers, as well as benefits and challenges of m-learning adoption. The study used the systematic review methodology and PRISMA guidelines. A list of 27 studies was included from several relevant studies in four, Google Scholar, Mendeley, ScienceDirect, and Scopus, databases using inclusion and exclusion criteria to evaluate the full text after screening the titles and abstracts. The results of this study show that m-learning has garnered interest in numerous nations worldwide, applied in different subject matter domains with the use of various mobile devices and technologies. More significantly, the findings show that using mobile learning to learn positively impacts how pre-service teachers develop their knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Additionally, adopting this learning style recently in teacher education has certain advantages and challenges, requiring lecturers, pre-service teachers, and institutions to have the necessary equipment for knowledge, skills and facilities to achieve efficiency. Consequently, the results of this study can be used as a guide for research on m-learning in the future and contribute to the body of knowledge about this pedagogical strategy for teacher training.

Despite receiving increasing attention from mathematics education scholars, there has not yet been any overall understanding of the current state of realistic mathematics education (RME). To address this gap, this study aims to provide a review of 288 studies on realistic mathematics education from the Scopus database between 1972 and 2019. Using descriptive and bibliometric analyses, this study addresses four research issues as follows: (i) the total volume, growth trajectory, and geographic distribution; (ii) the most influencing authors and research groups; (iii) the most influencing sources (i.e., journals, books, conferences); and (iv) the most important topics. Several implications for not only mathematics education scholars but also other stakeholders, including policymakers, school managers, mathematics teachers, may not be considered in this study.

The 5E, an exploratory instructional model with growing popularity in current learner-centered educational practices, aims to develop learners' competencies. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching fractions using the 5E instructional model to develop students' mathematical communication competency (MCC). The researchers used mixed methods with data triangulation in a 38-student experiment group (EG) who learned with the 5E model and a 41-student control group (CG) using traditional learning approaches to clarify the impact of the 5E model on the development of MCC, academic performance and learning attitude among learners. The research instruments include a pre-test, post-test, classroom observation, and a student survey. Subsequently, the data collected were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 26) predictive analytics software. The independent t-test on the post-test scores of the two groups revealed that the academic performance of EG after the intervention was significantly better than that of CG with the significance level α = 0.05 and degree of freedom df = 77, yielding the p-value (Sig. 2-tailed) = 0.001. Meanwhile, given the significance level α = 0.05, the p-value (Sig. 2-tailed) = 0.001 and the Pearson correlation coefficient (r = 0.943), the result of the paired sample t-test implies that the mean post-test score of students in EG was significantly higher than that of their pre-test. Furthermore, with an effect size of approximately 0.88, these figures suggest that applying the 5E model in the experimental process positively affected the academic performance of the students in EG and the development of MCC. A qualitative analysis using classroom observations and student surveys revealed that the 5E model helped students in the EG develop their MCC and an increasingly positive attitude toward learning. In addition to these findings, it also reveals some limitations of the study and proposes recommendations for future research.

IntroductionIn recent decades, especially in higher education, blended learning has become the most commonly used active teaching strategy. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, blended learning, which combines face-to-face and online components, is believed to overcome the shortcomings of conventional teaching methods, particularly in face-to-face interactions. Based on PRISMA guidelines, this study follows the protocol for a systematic review of blended learning applications in mathematics teacher education. This systematic review study aims to comprehend the potential of blended learning for various mathematical topics, the common blended learning models, and the benefits and challenges this teaching approach presents for educational stakeholders.MethodsSearches will be performed in various electronic databases, including Scopus, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis Online, Mendeley, Google Scholar, and ERIC. Selected studies that satisfy the inclusion criteria will document the use of various blended learning models in a range of mathematical topics as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this method of instruction. The data extraction process will be carried out independently by various authors, and the results of the data synthesis will be reported per the chosen studies, methodological considerations, and key findings.DiscussionThis review will provide information about the application of blended learning and its benefits and challenges in mathematics teacher education to support educational stakeholders in mathematics teacher education.

Individuals attempting to study remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown will find that blended learning is a helpful solution and results in a significant increase in learning engagement. The best benefits for teachers and students are obtained by maximizing the advantages of each teaching method and by combining the advantages of online and face-to-face instruction. The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the flex model of blended learning in teaching the mathematics subtopic of coordinates in the plane through the improvement of students' academic achievement, self-study skills and learning attitudes. A quasi-experiment was conducted to compare the academic achievement, self-study skills and learning attitudes of 46 students in the control class who used traditional methods to those of 44 students in the experimental group who used the blended learning model. The pre-and post-test results, observations, and student opinion survey were used to compile data, which were then analyzed quantitatively (with SPSS) and qualitatively. The study confirmed that blended learning positively impacts students' academic achievement in the experimental class compared with the control class (Sig (2-tailed) = 0.001 and SMD = 0.6717), as demonstrated by the outcomes of the independent t-test analysis of the two groups in the post-test phase. In addition, observations and student opinion survey results also indicated that blended learning increased student interactions with teachers and improved students' academic achievement, self-study abilities and learning attitudes. Due to time constraints, not all the students who participated in the experiment could make progress. On the other hand, the study's relatively small sample size gave the impression that the results were only partially representative of the population. As a result, additional studies focusing on improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning within different blended learning models, broadening the scope of research on the influence of blended learning in other subjects, or increasing the sample size can all be considered.

Learning mathematics equips students with the necessary competencies, and mathematical communication abilities allow them to discuss and exchange mathematical ideas with others. Correspondingly, research is needed into ways to help students develop these skills. These data were collected from 87 students in grade 10 at An Nhon Tay High School in the Cu Chi neighborhood of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. These students took part in a quasi-experimental study whose goal was to determine how a four-step learning model that included activities using the ACODESA method and mind maps affected the student’s ability to communicate mathematically. In the experimental group, students were taught using the learning mentioned above model, while those in the control group received traditional instruction. To determine the efficacy of this teaching strategy, a quasi-experiment that included a pre-test, a treatment, and a post-test was designed and carried out. The student’s development in mathematical and linguistic activities was evaluated using both quantitative and qualitative analyses of the data that was gathered. Data gathered may shed light on how effective the learning model is in helping high school students enhance their mathematical communication skills. Also, the pre-test and post-test items from the supplementary data files can be a starting point for creating new learning tasks to evaluate students’ mathematical communication abilities.

Many educators and policymakers worldwide have noticed the burgeoning field of experiential learning in the twenty-first century. Learning theory and practice together is beneficial to education in general, and mathematics education in particular, because it enables students to realize their full potential for knowledge and skill, and it connects the two aspects of knowledge. A focus on the cross-cutting and critical role of experience activities within the framework was emphasized in Vietnam’s general education program in mathematics, released in 2018 and included views on the content and methods of teaching and learning mathematics in the country. Experiential learning in mathematics was studied to see if this method could positively help students participate, increase their motivation and interest in learning, and impact their math outcomes. A series of pedagogical experiments with 29 sixth-grade students on arithmetic and geometric topics was conducted to confirm the research goals. Students were required to develop solutions to real-world problems related to their studying subjects. The experimental and control classes are subjected to a pre-test and a post-test design. Mixed methods, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, are handled by the statistical data processing software (SPSS) program and the results of observations and surveys of learners’ opinions. The results were found that experiential learning activities positively influenced math learning attitudes and student achievement progress in the classroom.

Mathematical education in general, and mathematics education at high schools in particular, creates favorable conditions for students to develop essential and core competencies and assists students in improving their mathematical competence as a foundation for good learning. It also promotes necessary skills for society, in which mathematical communication skills are essential skills. The purpose of the research is to enhance students' mathematical communication skills while studying ellipse topics. In this study, 87 students in the tenth grade were tested to see if the teaching process for accelerating the development of mathematical communication skills related to ellipse topics was effective and possible. Students in the experimental class were instructed using a four-step learning model with the activities regarding the ACODESA method and mind map, whereas students in the control class were guided using the conventional way of instruction. A study design involving a pre-test, a treatment, and a post-test was used to determine the effectiveness of this type of teaching approach. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of the gathered data assessed the students' progress in mathematical language activities. The findings indicated that most students' mathematical communication skills regarding ellipse topics had improved significantly. The learners towards the above process also showed a positive attitude. In addition, the research findings have important implications and recommendations.

Blended learning is an active teaching approach widely applied in recent decades, especially in higher education. This study systematically reviews blended learning's applications in mathematics teacher education based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. This study aims to understand the potential of blended learning for various mathematical topics, the common blended learning models, and the benefits and challenges this teaching approach presents for educational stakeholders. Accordingly, 25 studies from the Scopus database are analyzed. The study shows that many studies were conducted between 2019 and 2022, focusing on a few developing countries. In addition, blended learning is extensively used in teaching most mathematics subtopics, especially in courses on teaching methods, with the widespread use of three models: the flipped model, the mixed model, and the online practicing model. Based on this study's assessment, blended learning has a positive impact on the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes among preservice teachers. However, it also presents lecturers and prospective teachers with various challenges related to technological infrastructure, teaching materials, digital and professional competence, and students' knowledge and engagement. The study's results provide an overview of the application of blended learning in mathematics teacher education and support certain future recommendations for new research directions. Online project-based learning (PjBL) is an increasingly popular teaching approach in higher education, especially in teacher education. Implementing online PjBL differs across subjects, bringing many benefits while posing challenges for educators and pre-service teachers. This systematic review aims to investigate the implementation, effectiveness and challenges of adopting PjBL in teacher education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The review provided a thorough overview of research on PjBL in teacher education during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was carried out using the systematic review methodology and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Several relevant articles from five different databases (Google Scholar, Mendeley, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Taylor & Francis Online) were collected using the keywords "project-based learning" and "teacher education" along with their synonyms. A final list of 26 included articles to be reviewed in this study is produced after the titles and abstracts screening and full texts evaluation using inclusion and exclusion criteria. This systematic review reveals that PjBL has been applied in teaching various subjects in teacher education with different types of projects and assessment methods. More importantly, integrating PjBL in teaching has been proven to positively impact the development of pre-service teachers' knowledge, professional skills and learning attitudes. In addition, applying PjBL poses certain challenges for educators due to the requirements on teachers' and students' knowledge and skills as well as equipment and technology facilities. On the other hand, the COVID-19 pandemic, if viewed positively, contributes to boosting educators' motivation and facilitating the implementation of online PjBL. The actions, processes, objects, and schemas (APOS) theory is a constructivist learning theory created by Dubinsky based on Piaget's epistemology and used to teach math worldwide. Especially the application of APOS theory to the curriculum of a mathematics class helps students better understand the concepts being taught, which in turn contributes to the formation and development of mathematical competencies. With the aid of the APOS theory and the activity, classroom discussion, and exercise (ACE) learning cycle, this study sought to ascertain the effect of teaching derivatives in Vietnamese high schools. In this quasi-experimental study at a high school in Vietnam, there were 78 grade 11 students (40 in the experimental and 38 in the control classes). As opposed to the control class, which received traditional instruction, the experimental class's students were taught using the ACE learning cycle based on the APOS theory. The data was collected based on the pre-test, the post-test results and a survey of students' opinions. Also, the data that was gathered, both qualitatively and quantitatively, was examined using IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 26) predictive analytics software. The results showed that students in the experimental class who participated in learning activities based on the APOS theory improved their academic performance and attitudes.
