AIM: To identify the pathogenic gene in a family with primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)from Nantong, Jiang Province, and to analyze its clinical phenotype and pathogenic mechanism.METHOD: A POAG pedigree was reviewed and recruited from January 2020 to December 2020, which spans 5 generations, with 33 people in total. A total of 13 family members were enrolled in our study, of whom 4 members were diagnosed with POAG, 1 with ocular hypertension(OHT), and the other 8 members were unaffected. Detailed medical history was collected and a comprehensive ophthalmic examination was performed. High throughput sequencing was used to screen for possible pathogenic gene, and Sanger sequencing was used to verify candidate pathogenic gene.RESULT: All patients in this family were found to have elevated intraocular pressure(IOP)and diagnosed with glaucoma at a young age, requiring surgical treatments to control the IOP. The highest IOP of proband was up to 55mmHg. A heterozygous mutation(c.1197C>A, p.Phe399Leu)of LTBP2 gene was found in the proband genome by whole exon sequencing(WES). Sanger sequencing verified that the mutation was not isolated from the family disease.CONCLUSION: LTBP2 (c.1197C>A)mutation was not the pathogenic gene of POAG in this family. However, the pathogenic potential of LTBP2 gene in POAG cases is worth studying.

This study focuses on the effect of lateral mass impact on ring-stiffened thin-walled cylindrical shell. Cylindrical shells were fabricated to validate the numerical modeling and analytical techniques, and drop tests were performed using a rigid spherical indenter. Next, stiffened-ring cylindrical shells with various structural size parameters were simulated using ABAQUS software. The relationships between the impact force, deformation displacement, and rebound velocity were established, on the basis of impact mechanics theory and simulation results. It derived fitting functions to analyse the relationship between the maximum load and maximum displacement of ring-stiffened cylindrical shell under dynamic mass impact. Based on the validation of the simulation model, the fitting function data were compared with the simulation results, and the functions showed a good accuracy. Besides, the parameters, mass ratio and stiffened-ring mass ratio were used to reflect the effect of the mass change in the ring-stiffened cylindrical shell. Furthermore, parametric studies on ring-stiffened cylindrical shell models were conducted to analyse the progressive impact responses.

AIM: To investigate the curative effect of Shuxuetong injection combined with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and laser photocoagulation in the treatment of macular edema(ME)secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO). METHODS: Totally 70 patients(70 affected eyes)with ME secondary to BRVO treated from January 2015 to December 2016 were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table method, 35 patients(35 affected eyes)in each group. The control group were treated by intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and laser photocoagulation, and on the basis, the observation group were treated with Shuxuetong injection. The clinical curative effect and complications were compared between the two groups. At 1wk, 1 and 3mo after treatment, the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and central retinal thickness(CRT)were checked again. RESULTS: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was slightly higher than that in the control group(91% vs 80%; P>0.05)while the markedly effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(43% vs 20%; PPPP>0.05). CONCLUSION: The treatment of ME secondary to BRVO with Shuxuetong injection combined with intravitreal injection of ranibizumab and laser photocoagulation can effectively reduce CRT and improve visual acuity, with high safety.

The dynamic mechanism of liquid-glass transition for Mg7Zn3 alloy is studied by the molecular dynamics simulations. The temperature dependences of dynamic properties during the liquid-glass transition are investigated. Two relaxation processes are clearly observed near the glass transition temperature. The diffusivity deviates from the Arrhenius law after the melting temperature Tm and satisfies the power law before the dynamic singularity temperature Tc owing to the cage effect. The solid- and liquid-like atoms are defined according to the vibration characteristic of atoms. It is found that the solid-like atoms have higher local packing density, lower mobility and potential energy than the liquid-like ones. Based on the evolutions of solid- and liquid-like atoms, the atomic mechanism of dynamic liquid-glass transition is systematically elucidated, which is consistent with the potential energy landscape. According the actual structure and working principle of a fuel injector to build a model of the common-rail injector, including the control valve, the solenoid valve, and the needle valve of the injector. The model includes the leakage model for the control piston and needle valve that takes into account increasing leakage at high pressure. The performance of the fuel injector is investigated using a one-dimensional numerical model. Analyzing the effect of the system and structure parameters including common-rail pressure, injection pulse width, inlet and outlet hole diameter, and the injection nozzle on the injection characteristics of the fuel injector. Results show that the geometric parameter is the main property affecting the flow characteristic of the injector, which includes the flow rate of inlet and outlet hole, pressure waves in the control chamber and injection rate. The common-rail pressure, injection pulse width and the geometric parameters mainly affect the injection performance, such as the injection rate and injected volume. The investigation result can provide some useful information to improve the injection characteristic in follow-up studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
