The article discusses the study which was aimed at determining the accuracy of dating parent deaths in Great Britain. One hundred and fifty persons were asked the dates of their parents' deaths, and their answers were checked against the dates given on the parents' death certificates. At the home interview, each subject was asked if his parents were dead, the date of the death, the cause of the death, the place of death, and the father's occupation. Certificates were traced for 179 deaths, 88 mother deaths and 91 father deaths.

The article discusses the study "The Influence of Parental Death Anniversaries upon Suicide Dates," by J. Bunch and J. Barraclough. It is believed that anniversaries of bereavements usually triggered psychiatric disturbance or suicidal tendencies. Over 65 consecutive suicides were found through sampling methods in two South Coast areas.
