Status-seeking is ubiquitous in world politics, and the literature is currently dominated by state-centrism and rationalism, which is almost exclusively focus on state elites. This results in a thin and limited understanding of what 'status-seeking' is, where it works, and how it is effected. This article challenges the existing approaches by introducing a performativity framework and offers an overhaul of how 'status' can be studied. It suggests replacing 'status-seeking' with 'status performances' that are conceptualised as part of 'statecraft' process. Drawing on post-structuralist and queer approaches as well as aesthetics in International Relations (IR), it is argued that status performances participate in the production of the state itself as a subject in world politics, so all states are 'status-seekers'. This subject-production process occurs in multiple political sites, including the academic IR discourse in a country and visual presentations in the media. It is concluded that there is no 'status' beyond the subject, and status can never be achieved because it always needs repetitive performances. The argument is illustrated by an analysis of the production of 'Turkey' as a humanitarian state and demonstrates how this is effected in state-elite pronouncements, IR scholarship in Turkey, and visual representations. In this study, in order to remove of toxic Cr(VI) metal ions from aqueous solutions, three SPION@SiO2-N1-BODIPY, SPION@SiO2-N2-BODIPY andSPION@SiO2-N3-BODIPY nanoparticle adsorbents nanoparticle adsorbents with different amino groups were compared/investigated.The adsorption parameters such ascontact time, initial Cr (VI) concentration, adsorbent dosage, pH, and temperature experiments were investigated and also nanoparticle adsorbents with different amine groups were compared.The results showed that the nanoparticle containig more amines groups adsorbed more Cr(VI) with less dose amount used. When the adsorption capacity of SPION@SiO2-N1-BODIPY, SPION@SiO2-N2-BODIPYand SPION@SiO2-N3-BODIPY were compared to ones reported in the literatures, our nanoparticle adsorbents have the maximum adsorption capacities of 23.981, 33.003 and 43.478 mg/g at pH 2.0 and 25°C, respectively.The equilibrium data obtained wereexamined with various kinetics and isotherms equations.It is concluded that the adsorption processes of three nanoparticle adsorbents, Pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir models are well described.Briefly, the results showed that SPION@SiO2-N1-BODIPY, SPION@SiO2-N2-BODIPYand SPION@SiO2-N3-BODIPY nanoparticle adsorbents can be a great promise as effective adsorbents by removing toxic Cr(VI) metal ions from aqueous solutions and also determining the adsorption capabilities of nanoparticle adsorbents with different amine groups will help future studies. Status-seeking practices of some states from the Global South have increasingly been studied in the status literature in International Relations. The existing debates, whilst developing significant advances recently, still fail to account for and theorise both status anxieties of postcolonial states and the intrinsic relation between them and existential anxieties. This article will address this gap through utilising an ontological security perspective on status-seeking. By focusing on subjectivities (not solely on identities as conventionally done in the status literature) and introducing subject production to the process of status-seeking, this article conceptualises status in relation to identity narratives of the subject to achieve 'wholeness' in hierarchical social orders. This novel post-structuralist understanding of status and status-seeking through the introduction of a Lacanian theorisation of ontological security offers an alternative perspective to approaches in status debates to understand status anxieties of postcolonial states better. This article will discuss the concept of 'security dilemma', which was conceptualized sixty years ago, but has been enriched and recently re-thought, in three periods. In the first period, the concept was formulated based on the security understanding dominating the Cold War era. The second period is the one during which the concept was enriched in conjunction with emerging problems in world politics and the broadened security understanding in the discipline of International Relations. In the last period, the concept was completely rethought and fed by new ideas. Among these new ideas, the concept of 'trust' was offered as a way of transcending security dilemmas. The re-generated version of 'security dilemma' presents a new perspective to understand, study, and re-think what security and insecurity mean in world politics. Cu (II) ion has potential roles in a lot of living metabolisms that its detection and removal are extremely important for flagship branches of science. In this paper, fluorescent and easy-make silica gel immobilized BODIPY were successfully prepared via a simple synthesis procedure for the rapid recognition of Cu (II) ions. The optimal emission and excitation wavelength of the synthesized hybrid material, Si-APTMS-BODIPY, was 543 nm and 460 nm, respectively. The new solid support surface fully characterized by several techniques has notable results and visual data for the detection of Cu (II) ion. The maximum fluorescent intensity of Si-APTMS-BODIPY was clearly quenched following the adding of Cu (II) ion owing to static and dynamic quenching mechanisms. Maybe, more importantly, there was a notable linear correlation between several concentrations of Cu (II) solution and the fluorescence quenching processes with a limit of detection (LOD) of $1.7 ~\mu \text{M}$. Based on these, a fluorescent hybrid material having high selectivity and sensitivity was made up, and it provides a precious proposal for the recognition of Cu (II) ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the past five years, Turkey has become active in Antarctica, although these efforts have been overlooked in political and academic debates on Turkish foreign policy. In this article, Ali Bilgic explains the underlying reasons for Turkey's accelerated efforts in Antarctica as part of its status-seeking foreign policy with a global geopolitical scope. He argues that, while Ankara clearly wants to build influence around the world, including Antarctica, it is unlikely that Turkey is seeking significant changes in the Antarctic geopolitical balance. Filippi syndrome (MIM #272440), one of the craniodigital syndromes, is a rare genetic entity with autosomal recessive inheritance and characterized by pre‐ and postnatal growth retardation, microcephaly, distinctive facial appearance, developmental delay/intellectual disability, and variable syndactylies of the fingers and toes. In this report, a further female patient of Filippi syndrome who additionally had a unilateral congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV), a feature not previously recorded, is described. Genetic testing revealed a novel homozygous frameshift pathogenic variant (c.552_555delCAAA, p.Asn184Lysfs*8) in CKAP2L and thus confirmed the diagnosis of Filippi syndrome. We hope that the newly recognized feature (CTEV) will contribute to expand the clinical spectrum of this extremely rare condition. In view of the paucity of reported cases, the full spectrum of clinical findings of Filippi syndrome necessitates obviously further affected individuals/pedigrees delineation in order to elucidate the etiological and phenotypic aspects of this orphan disease appropriately. In this study, environmentally friendly Sp-EN-CPA was synthesized to effectively remove Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solutions and wastewater. The Sp (sporopollenin) was successfully modified with ethylenediamine (EN) compound. Finally, 1,8-bis(3-chloropropoxy) anthracene-9,10-dion (CPA) compound was immobilized on the modified sporopollenin (Sp-EN). The structural and chemical properties of the newly synthesized Sp-EN-CPA adsorbent were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy images. The impact of experimental parameters such as concentration, contact duration, and temperature, adsorbent amount, and pH on the removal of Cr(VI) ions in the wastewater and aqueous solution were researched. Some adsorption isotherms were used to interpret the formation of the reaction of Cr(VI) ions attachment to the adsorbent surface. The effective elimination (97%) of Cr(VI) ions using Sp-EN-CPA compound was performed at pH 2. The maximum amount of Sp-EN-CPA for the adsorption of Cr(VI) ions in the wastewater and aqueous solution was found to be 0.075 g. Adsorption remained stable after 150 min. The ΔH° values of Cr(VI) ions in aqueous solution and wastewater in the 25°C–50°C temperature range were found to be 18.82 and 26.18 kJ mol–1, and ΔS° values were found to be 103.79 and 123.01 kJ mol–1, respectively. The average adsorption energy for the Sp-ENCPA adsorbent was found to be 26.73 kJ mol–1 for Cr(VI) ions in aqueous solution. European states have adopted strict migration policies, such as unlimited detention in Britain, to address increasing anti-immigrant emotions in the context of rising anti-immigrant populism. These state practices prioritize the feelings of insecurity of some population groups towards immigrants whose emotions and insecurities are politically marginalized. Consequently, whose emotions matter in politics intertwines with whose security matters. This article articulates emotions in politics of security as an entitlement, which feed into the question of who 'merits' security politically. By focusing on individuals to whom such entitlement is denied in the context of anti-immigrant populism, it investigates how immigrant women 'feel' detention and enact their emotions in their own everyday 'felt' security. The research is conducted through in-depth interviews with women who experienced detention in Britain. Through the method of 'listening guide' adapted from psychology, the research studies their narratives about their emotions before, during and after detention. By bringing together the feminist research on emotions and 'everyday security' approaches in International Relations, this analysis contributes to feminist IR and security studies on women's agency in the politics of security, by revealing the importance of emotional dynamics in their everyday 'felt' security practices. In this study, a low-cost adsorbent was synthesized to efficiently remove Cr(III) ions from aqueous solutions and wastewater. First, 3-chloropropyl-trimethoxy silane (CPTS) was modified on silica gel (Si). Then, (E) -2- (1-(3-methyl-3-phenyl cyclobutyl)-2-morpholino ethylidene) hydrazine carbothioamide (PMH) Schiff base was immobilized on the Si-CPTS compound, and the Si-CPTS-PMH adsorbent was synthesized. The newly synthesized adsorbent was characterized through using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy. Several experiments using batch method were conducted to investigate the maximum adsorption capacity of Cr(III) ions on Si-CPTS-PMH adsorbent. The effect of several factors including pH, contact time and amount of adsorbent, temperature and concentration on the adsorption of Cr(III) ions were investigated. To illuminate the adsorption mechanism, Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) adsorption isotherms and thermodynamic calculations (ΔG°, ΔS° and ΔH°) were used. The optimum values obtained from this study were 6, 150 min, 0.025 g, 20 mg/L and 323.15 K for pH, interaction time, adsorbent amount, concentration and temperature, respectively. In the academic literature on EU–southern Mediterranean relations, a focal point of neglect has been the gendered dimension of Euro-Mediterranean relations. This article argues that the Euro-Mediterranean space has been formed within the gendered global West/non-West relations with the purpose of promoting the West's security interests. Euro-Mediterranean security relations, thus, embody a gendered power hierarchy between the hybrid hegemonic masculinity of the EU (bourgeois-rational and citizen-warrior) and the subordinate (both feminized and hypermasculinized) southern neighbourhood. In addition, it shows that following the Arab Spring the EU has been determined to maintain the status quo by reconstructing these gendered power relations. This gender analysis contributes to the literature on Euro-Mediterranean relations through its specific focus on the (re)construction processes of gendered identities within the West/non-West context in tandem with the EU's competing notions of security. Turkey’s policy-makers have historically aimed to position Turkey within the West by convincing the latter that Turkey meets the ‘standards’ of the West, that they ‘are not barbarians’. This article aims to offer a gender analysis of Turkey’s relations with the West by showing how ‘devalorization’ as feminization and hypermasculinization of the non-West becomes a source of insecurity for non-Western policy-makers. This gendered ontological insecurity is intensified when they face a military threat from a third party. The argument is that Turkey’s policy-makers try to benefit from military crises in order to represent Turkey as a state meeting Western ‘standards’ of masculinity, and therefore to address its gendered ‘devalorization’. The 4-amino-2-hydroxyacetophenone was immobilized onto silica gel modified with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxy silane. The carried reaction is classic condensation reaction. The obtained structure was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and thermo gravimetric analysis. The values of adsorption of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) ions were detected with an atomic absorption spectrometer. The experiment conditions for effective sorption of the studied metal ions were performed by using batch method. The maximum adsorption capacities and isotherm parameters were calculated with using the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm equations. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (ΔG˚), entropy (ΔS˚), and enthalpy (ΔH˚) were also calculated from the experimental results. The sorption results were used to explain the mechanism of the sorption. The modified structure was successfully used in the separation of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) from the aqueous solutions. In the last decade, students of Critical Security Studies (CSS) have been increasingly studying and understanding the concept of security in negative terms. The way they choose to analyse security instils a one-sided understanding, which revolves around totalizing the material and ideational power of the state. This paper aims to discuss how students of CSS can avoid essentializing the meaning of security by extending its analytical scope beyond security professionalism and state-centrism. It will be argued that it is possible to inquire ‘what is good about security’ by examining the experiences of the most victimized through a study of the pluralism of politics of security. In the discipline of international relations, the concept of trust has been theorised in two ways: the ‘rationalist’ approach and the ‘normative’ approach. This article aims to show that these approaches do not adequately reflect how trust operates in world politics and that trust provides a new way of understanding the identity–security nexus in international relations. It is argued that as actors learn to trust each other, this trust-learning process has a transformative effect on their definition of self-interests and identities. European Union Member States have so far tackled the problem of irregular migration in Europe by adopting common policies which aim to prevent irregular arrivals on the EU borders. In their EU-level policies, they have neglected regularization as an alternative EU-level policy addressing irregular migration. This represents a contrast to regularizations which are performed by many EU Member States. However, the EU Commission has gradually adopted a more positive stance about regularization. This article will discuss the principles of an EU-level regularization scheme through the analysis of the Commission's ideas on the issue. It will be argued that, rather than adopting a common policy, the flexible set of measures, which guide Member States in formulating regularization mechanism for protection/humanitarian reasons, can be formulated at the EU level. Trust-building creates puzzles for analysts in relation to what kind of trust is built in world politics, between whom, and to what end. This article studies two types of trust in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership: rationalist trust which characterizes inter-state cooperation to protect order and cosmopolitan trust which reveals the emancipatory potential of political structures that aim to achieve more security for individuals. In this study, two types of trust will be illustrated in the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation by analyzing the link between security and trust. It is argued that while rationalist trust between states with 'security as order' rationality reconstructs the status quo in North African countries, cosmopolitan trust with 'security as emancipation' rationality toward North African individuals has the potential to transform these countries' political structures. Sporopollenin is a natural substance found in plant walls and is highly resistant to external factors. In this paper, we designed an eco-friendly hybrid material, Sp-EDA-BODIPY , based on sporopollenin microcapsule and BODIPY to remove and detect metal ions. The fluorescent surface was fully characterized with various methods such as XRD, SEM, FT-IR, fluorescence spectroscopy. The fluorescent microcapsule sensor showed fluorometrically a remarkable quenching effect in the presence of Cu (II) ion, via the complexation mechanism that LOD it was calculated as 0.773 μM. As a result of the competing ion experiments, Sp-EDA-BODIPY also has a high selective for Cu (II) ion toward another the studied metal ions. Otherwise, we also calculated the adsorption capacities and the maximum isotherm parameters and from the Freundlich, Langmuir, and Dubinin-Radushkevich equations for the removal of Cu (II) with Sp-EDA-BODIPY fluorescent microcapsule. The maximum adsorption capacities of Cu (II) on Sp-EDA-BODIPY were calculated to be 28.65, 31.25, 34.02, and 37.74 mg/g at different temperatures (298, 308, 318, and 328 K), respectively. The adsorption experimental results were closer to Langmuir adsorption isotherm and pseudo-second-order models. Thermodynamic data showed that the adsorption process was endothermic, possible, and spontaneous. Pollution from heavy metal ions has become a major issue worldwide. Water pollution, particularly with heavy metals like mercury, is a global problem. Developing environmentally friendly, low-cost, high-efficiency, sensitive, and selective sensors for the detection of mercury(ii) ions in aqueous environments has attracted great interest in industry and academia. In this research paper, a bodipy-functionalized magnetic fluorescent MSp-TAB hybrid material was developed for detecting mercury(ii) in aqueous media. The magnetic fluorescent MSp-TAB hybrid material was characterized using FT-IR, SEM, EDX, XRD, and TGA. We studied the influence of diverse factors such as contact time, temperature, and pH on the detection of Hg(ii). The fluorometric study demonstrated that the developed magnetic-fluorescent hybrid material was sensitive/selective for Hg(ii) ions in the absence and presence of interfering ions with a limit of detection (LOD) of 2.72 μM.
