Classically the diagnosis of both bacterial and viral pneumonias was made with chest radiology, later the use of chest CT was implemented, however in recent years lung ultrasound has become very important in the diagnosis of pulmonary pathology and increased in pandemic by SARS-CoV-2, due to the practicality of being done at the patient's bedside, the ability to be reproducible, and the decrease in radiation exposure to patients. Experimental studies have demonstrated the effects of maternal fructose consumption during pregnancy and lactation on metabolic alterations in their offspring, especially male offspring. However, few studies have focused on female offspring after providing fructose in food to dam rats. Here, we studied whether offspring of both sexes were differentially affected by a maternal high-fructose diet (HFD). For this purpose, Sprague-Dawley rats were fed during pregnancy and lactation with a standard diet (SD) or a HFD (50% w/w). After weaning, offspring were fed an SD; 3 days later, dams were sacrificed, and their offspring were sacrificed on postnatal day 90. Body weight (BW), food and water intake (only for dams), and various biomarkers of metabolic syndrome were measured. When compared to the SD-fed dams, HFD-fed dams had a reduction in BW and food and water intake. Conversely, adiposity, liver weight, liver lipids, and plasma levels of glucose, insulin, cholesterol, triglycerides, and uric acid were increased in HFD-fed dams. Moreover, the BW, food consumption, weight of retroperitoneal fat pads, and liver lipids increased in female and male offspring of HFD-fed dams. Interestingly, the pups of HFD-fed mothers showed increased levels of leptin and insulin resistance and decreased levels of adiponectin which were more pronounced in male offspring than in female offspring. In contrast, a higher increase in BW was shown earlier in female offspring. Thus, high-fructose consumption by dams during pregnancy and lactation led to sex-specific developmental programming of the metabolic syndrome phenotype in adult offspring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fresh green chilli, in Mexico, are of importance not only because they are part of the food diet, but because of the workforce that generates their production; however, the soils of the producing states have alkaline pH and this causes iron fixation (Fe), which is a vital element in the quality of the fruits. Therefore, the objective of the study was to determine the effect of an iron fulvate (FFe), on the quality of ‘serrano’ chili fruits for which increasing doses of a mixture of fulvic acids and ferrous sulfate (FFe) were used to 200, 400, 600, 800, 1 000 and 1 200 mg kg-1 added four times to the soil: at the time of transplantation, at 15, 45 and 60 ddt and a nutritive solution (SN) as a control. The performance and quality variables measured to the fruit: fresh weight (PFF), dry weight (PSF), length (LF), diameter (DF), firmness (FI), total soluble solids (SST) and iron (Fe) and calcium (Ca), to the plant tissue of foliage. With the high dose of 1 200 mg kg-1 the highest value of PFF, LF and DF was obtained, while with the dose of 1 000 mg kg-1 the highest value of PSF was obtained, FI obtained the highest value high with the dose of 400 mg kg-1 and with the lowest dose of the organic-mineral complex the highest values of SST and NF were obtained. With respect to the concentration of nutrients in foliar tissue the dose of 1000 mg kg-1 caused optimal Fe values and close to the optimum of Ca, while with the lowest doses of 200 and 400 mg kg-1 the concentration of both minerals was in excess. . The Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, which takes effect on 20 August 2013, consolidates dozens of ILO standards adopted since the 1920s. It has been described as the 'fourth pillar' of the international maritime regulatory regime, alongside three major IMO Conventions on safety at sea and marine pollution control. The challenge, the authors argue, will be to enforce it within the existing inspection frameworks of flag State implementation and 'port State control'. Technically, the responsibility rests on the former, but the proliferation of flags of convenience suggests that the latter will have a crucial part to play too, as will, in either case, inspector training. The present investigation aimed to evaluate the effect of Chitosan-Indole Butyric Acid (IBA) in the seed of Salicornia bigelovii under field conditions in Sonora, Mexico. During two vegetative cycles (2018/2019–2019/2020), cuttings of S. bigelovii were treated with 100 and 50% Chitosan from shrimp exoskeletons and indole butyric acid at 0.937 and 1.25 g·kg−1 and placed in basins under conditions of the Sonora desert, Mexico. Variables were measured: seed production, physicochemical analysis and lipid profile of the seed. The results affected significant increases (p < 0.05) in the evaluated variables, highlighting the treatment based on Chitosan 100%—IBA 0.937 g·kg−1. The results based on chitosan and IBA in cuttings, are a biostimulant in the morpho-physiology, yield production, and lipid content of S. bigelovii. Introduction: There are no data on the association of type of pneumonia and long-term mortality by the type of pneumonia (COVID-19 or community-acquired pneumonia [CAP]) on long-term mortality after an adjustment for potential confounding variables. We aimed to assess the type of pneumonia and risk factors for long-term mortality in patients who were hospitalized in conventional ward and later discharged., Methods: Retrospective analysis of two prospective and multicentre cohorts of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and CAP. The main outcome under study was 1-year mortality in hospitalized patients in conventional ward and later discharged. We adjusted a Bayesian logistic regression model to assess associations between the type of pneumonia and 1-year mortality controlling for confounders., Results: The study included a total of 1,693 and 2,374 discharged patients in the COVID-19 and CAP cohorts, respectively. Of these, 1,525 (90.1%) and 2,249 (95%) patients underwent analysis. Until 1-year follow-up, 69 (4.5%) and 148 (6.6%) patients from the COVID-19 and CAP cohorts, respectively, died ( p  = 0.008).
