This study uses Panadero et al.'s (2021) Deep Learning Strategies Questionnaire to discover EFL learners' strategies from a new perspective. The questionnaire is a newly designed self-report instrument with ground-breaking features constructed with validity and reliability to measure students' actual strategies in real situations. The current study is the first in an EFL context to use this innovative tool. It investigates self-regulation strategies for learning English as a foreign language (EFL) among 430 male EFL college students in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire enabled us to adopt a micro-level inspection of strategy functions based on an innovative model that can help identify possible avenues for strategy interventions. The results mostly showed a high use of deep language learning strategies in all four questionnaire categories: basic learning, visual elaboration and summarizing, deep information processing, and social learning. Consequently, all the categories had a strong, positive, and significant correlation. In addition, the most used strategies were basic learning strategies, whereas the least used were visual elaboration and summarizing. Our findings provide useful pedagogical implications for promoting EFL learning strategies and strategy instruction. Successfully replicating the Deep Learning Strategies Questionnaire scrutinizes this methodological instrument's validity and reliability and encourages other researchers to use it.

The linguistic dynamics within a workplace play a pivotal role in shaping the organizational milieu, thereby significantly influencing the overall success or failure of the organization. Consequently, this investigation was crafted to scrutinize the impact of various linguistic elements, such as directive communication, empathetic discourse, proficiency in English language, and communication efficacy, on employee allegiance, mediated through the lens of trust. Employing a cross-sectional research design, data were gathered from employees within the banking sector of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Utilizing questionnaires aligned with prior scholarly literature, the study employed simple random sampling techniques to solicit responses, amassing 231 usable questionnaires. The data analysis was conducted using Smart PLS 4 software. The results revealed that directive communication, empathetic discourse, English language proficiency, and communication effectiveness positively influence employee trust. Furthermore, the statistical analyses substantiated the significant impact of trust on employee loyalty. Notably, this study also confirmed the mediating role of employee trust. The implications and avenues for future research are expounded upon in detail within this investigation.

The COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc throughout school systems across the world during the 2020-2021 school year. Riyadh School District in Saudi Arabia effectively transitioned from in-person student learning to remote student learning as a result of effective planning of resources and effective processes for implementation of remote learning. Employing Stufflebeam's CIPP evaluation model, an input evaluation and a process evaluation were conducted to shed light on the planning process employed to distribute resources and implement remote learning in a large school district in Saudi Arabia. Centralized supports for schools, including proper national funding, coordinated national teaching supports, and effective communication, aided Riyadh School District in the effective implementation of on-line learning for students.

This study attempts to replicate Pawlak's (2018) Grammar Learning Strategy Inventory (GLSI). It explores the use of GLSI by Saudi students of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in their college preparation year. The re-emergence of GLSI after a long period of neglect is a significant development in Language Learning Strategies. Consequently, due to the shortage of GLSI studies in Arab countries, this study was conducted. Participants were assessed using the GLSI with its four categories of metacognitive, cognitive, affective, and social strategies. 419 EFL students participated in this study. The findings generally showed a high use of grammar strategies in all four categories of GLSI among EFL learners. As a result, a strong, positive, and significant correlation was found between all the categories of strategies. Furthermore, students' Grade Point Average (GPA) did not appear to affect their use of GLS.

The purpose of this study is to explore the current status of micro-credentialing policies and practices in Middle Eastern and North African universities. Using a quantitative approach and a comprehensive questionnaire based on recent work by the Australasian Council on Open, Distance, and e-Learning (as reported by ACODE, Survey of micro-credentialing practice in Australasian universities 2021: An ACODE Whitepaper--October 2021, 2021), the study investigates areas such as standards, policies, adoption rates, integration into the curriculum, credentialing engines, and professional development. The findings indicate that micro-credentialing is still in its early stages in the region, with most universities initiating micro-credentialing within the past four years. The lack of a favorable policy ecosystem and standards for learning design, content, delivery, assessment, sizing, and issuance are identified as significant hindrances to the adoption of micro-credentials. To advance the micro-credential market, the study recommends that stakeholders collaborate and create quality standards, accountability mechanisms, financing strategies, and documentation frameworks that promote interoperability. The study suggests that improving policies for micro-credentials could help legitimize them and promote a more unified vision of micro-credentials as a crucial component of the national educational strategy.

: CONTEXT: Early detection of lung cancer through screening can improve outcomes; yet public knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding lung cancer screening in Saudi Arabia are limited. AIMS: The aim is to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward lung cancer risk factors and screening, and understand the impact of demographic factors on these variables. SETTINGS AND DESIGN: An observational cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2023 to March 2024, involving 708 participants. METHODS: A validated questionnaire from a previous Malaysian study, translated into Arabic, was distributed to participants. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS USED: Descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk test, one-way analysis of variance, Tukey's test, and logistic regression were used. RESULTS: Most participants (95.9) recognized smoking as a major risk factor. Common misconceptions included viewing lung cancer as infectious (84.0) or affecting only men (14.4). Nonetheless, 66.4 expressed willingness for future screening. Younger participants (18-40 years) and those with higher education demonstrated better knowledge scores (mean score: 11.33 ± 2.97 for ages 18-40; 11.42 ± 2.88 for those with master's or doctorate degrees), with significant differences based on age (P = 0.007) and education level (P = 0.025). No significant differences were observed based on gender, region of residence, or monthly family income. CONCLUSIONS: There is a positive inclination toward lung cancer screening among the Saudi public, but there are significant knowledge gaps, particularly regarding nonsmoking-related risk factors and misconceptions, suggesting a need for enhanced public education and screening programs. However, there’s limited research on patient satisfaction in discharge pharmacy services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This study aims to systematically investigate and delineate the various patient-related and non-patient-related factors that significantly impact patient satisfaction in the realm of discharge pharmacy services.Patients and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted over three months at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah (KAMC-J). The sample size was determined using a single population proportion formula, which resulted in a required sample size of 384 patients. A validated questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale evaluated satisfaction from “Strongly Dissatisfied” (1 point) to “Very Satisfied” (5 points) has been used. Data collectors underwent training and obtained written consent from participants, with questionnaire completion taking 5– 10 minutes face to face.Results: The study encompassed 437 participants, primarily male (59%) with a college education (45.3%), residing mostly in Jeddah (67.3%). Notably, 84.4% were not healthcare providers, and most visited the pharmacy every six months (44.6%). The patient satisfaction survey revealed high scores for counseling understanding, pharmacist courtesy, and the way the pharmacist answered questions (4.94± 0.31, 4.94± 0.27, 4.94± 0.32; respectively), but lower for understanding possible side effects (4.30± 1.30) and pharmacy location (4.57± 0.99). In logistic regression, visits lasting 10– 15 minutes, and less than 10 minutes were significantly (p< 0.05) associated with increased odds of patient satisfaction (OR=6.39, OR=9.45; respectively) Moreover, the medium length hospital stay was associated with decreased odds of patient satisfaction (OR=0.31, p=0.026).Conclusion: In conclusion, the study determined a significant proportion of patients are satisfied with discharge pharmacy services at KAMC-J, with the length of consultation and hospital stay being pivotal to their satisfaction. Background: Several studies examined the reciprocal relationship between knee osteoarthritis (KOA), depression, and postural balance separately; however, few studies have investigated the relationship between them. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the relationship between postural balance and depression among patients with KOA in Saudi Arabia. Methods and Results: A total of 71 patients with KOA were recruited (36 males, 35 females) with a mean age of 55.0±8.6 years, mean knee pain of 7.2±1.0, and mean Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) of 44.9±11.6. Depression was measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The participants were asked to complete the HADS, rate their pain in both knees using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the WOMAC, and undergo the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) to assess the postural balance. Perilunate dislocation is a rare carpal dislocation, which are predominantly trans-styloid and trans-scaphoid. This type of fracture dislocation is seen due to axial loading of a hyperextended ulnar-deviated wrist. This can result in the disruption of the scapholunate, lunocapitate, and lunotriquetral ligaments. The lunate may dislocate volar or dorsal to the other carpal bones. Herein, we have reported a case of trans-styloid, trans-scaphoid perilunate fracture dislocation with carpal tunnel syndrome, which has never been reported in the literature. A 38-year-old construction worker presented with a swollen hand and signs of carpal tunnel syndrome. The patient was diagnosed with perilunate fracture dislocation after a through clinical and radiological assessment. The scaphoid had invaginated into the radial styloid and demonstrated a comminuted fracture pattern. Volar lunate displacement was identified, and the patient demonstrated signs of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is not a common presentation. Open reduction with ligament repair was performed to minimize jeopardizing the hand function. Spelt tea cup sign is a diagnostic for perilunate dislocation. Operative exploration and reduction is imperative for failed closed lunate dislocation reduction to minimizes ongoing soft tissue jeopardy. Moreover, carpal tunnel release is indicated in the present of symptomatic carpal tunnel syndrome. To our knowledge, only a few cases of trans-styloid, trans-scaphoid perilunate dislocation with neurological deficit have been reported.

Research has found that students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may face difficulties in reading comprehension. This study explored the functional relationship between the use of a graphic organizer (GO) app on the iPad and the number of correct independent responses to reading comprehension questions by one student with ASD Level 1. The study used an applied behavior analysis intervention that used an ABAB design. A seven-question reading comprehension questionnaire was used to collect data Strong evidence was found of a functional relationship between the use of the graphic organizer (GO) on the iPad and an increase in correct independent responses by the student. Future research can develop to replicate the results and further explore how the use of a GO app on the iPad affects reading comprehension in students with ASD.

Digital technology development has led to the creation of various learning options in the science education field. Technology such as gamification has been used in several science areas, uncovering diverse benefits regarding its usage. However, more research is needed to understand how gamification enhances students learning in science fields. Therefore, this study review presented an overview of gamification usage in the science education field literature and focused on research indexed in several international databases. 31 studies were included for review. The results showed that most of the studies presented positive outcomes as gamification proved to be effective with science education students. The study also indicated that most gamification studies were mostly used to enhance students' learning skills in science education. The results of this study provide valuable data regarding technology techniques to enhance students' skills in science education. Further research is needed to cover areas that are not widely investigated in gamification literature.

Education plays a pivotal role in fostering socio-economic development, and the phenomenon of globalization has significantly increased the influx of students pursuing studies in foreign countries. Given that education serves as a catalyst for economic and cultural advancement, nations face the challenge of enticing international students. Consequently, this research seeks to scrutinize the interplay of social, cultural, and academic factors influencing the satisfaction levels of international students. Additionally, the study investigates the moderating role of language proficiency in this context. Adhering to a positivist philosophy, the research employs a quantitative deductive approach. Data collection involved the distribution of questionnaires to students from Middle Eastern countries enrolled in Malaysian universities. Out of the 500 questionnaires distributed, 383 were subjected to statistical analysis using SPSS. The findings indicate that positive interactions between students and teachers contribute significantly to international student satisfaction. Similarly, favourable social interactions on the university campus, successful adaptation to cultural differences, and a well-balanced academic workload are identified as key determinants of student satisfaction. Moreover, the study highlights the mitigating impact of language deficiency on the aforementioned relationships. In conclusion, the research underscores the imperative of prioritizing the satisfaction of students studying at host universities to attract a greater number of international students. Universities are advised to focus on enhancing the academic, cultural, and social dimensions of the student experience to create an environment conducive to satisfaction.

This scholarly investigation delves into the correlation among fundamental motifs in cross-cultural research. The inquiry specifically examines the impact of language impediments on the psychological well-being, social assimilation, and cultural adjustment of expatriates. Furthermore, the study endeavours to elucidate the nexus between language, culture, and social interactions within expatriate communities globally. These objectives are predicated on the premise that language functions bidirectionally, fostering convergence among individuals from diverse cultures while concurrently posing challenges to their assimilation into a shared cultural milieu. This research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing in-depth, semi-structured interviews with expatriates residing within the cultural milieu of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Thematic analysis serves as the analytical approach, facilitating a comprehensive exploration of various facets pertaining to linguistic challenges. This encompasses an examination of their impact on expatriates' social networks, engagement in community activities, and mental well-being. This investigation elucidates significant correlations between linguistic proficiency and social integration, demonstrating that adept language skills correlate with resilient social networks and active engagement within communities. Conversely, restricted language capabilities frequently give rise to sentiments of exclusion and impede social interactions within expatriate communities. Furthermore, the study accentuates the psychological strains emanating from linguistic challenges, emphasizing their repercussions on the mental well-being and self-efficacy of expatriates. This research addresses crucial gaps in the existing literature on language challenges encountered by expatriates globally. Through the utilization of real-life examples drawn from diverse social and cultural contexts, the study elucidates the multifaceted impact of language on expatriate experiences.
