In this paper, a way that using Al2[DK](SO4)3 catalyst to esterify those labile components (such as acids and sugars) in pyrolysis oil into fuel compounds was proposed considering that their presences were the main factor restricting pyrolysis oil's direct use as biofuel. Firstly, various metal sulfates catalysts were screened for producing ethyl levulinate from model compound levoglucosan or for producing ethyl acetate from model compound acetic acid. Secondly, the optimal reaction conditions were investigated for producing esters from the model mixture of levoglucosan and acetic acid over Al2[DK](SO4)3 catalyst. Thirdly, the feasibility of producing esters from the real pyrolysis oil over Al2[DK](SO4)3 catalyst under the optimum reaction conditions was validated. The results showed the formation of significant amounts of esters and acetals accompanying the loss of labile acids, sugars and aldehydes. The esters and acetals accounted for 39.5% of the total GC-MS chromatographic area of the esterified pyrolysis oil. This indicated that Al2[DK](SO4)3 could effectively catalyse the esterification of those labile components in pyrolysis oil to fuel compounds, which could provide reference for producing biofuels from pyrolysis oil..

BACKGROUND In an environment without foreign iodine food, the iodine content of water is an important index to measure the iodine intake of the human body, so the accurate determination of iodide content in drinking water has a crucial role in human health. The detection limit of ion chromatography-amperometric detection method is generally lower than that of conductance detection method, and the sensitivity is higher. This method is suitable for the determination of trace iodide in water, but the apparent peak time is later than that of the conductance detection method. Under the same test conditions, for the ion chromatography-hydroxide eluent detection method for the determination of iodide in water, the peak time is obviously better than that of the carbonate body eluent detection method. Using carbonate eluent to analyze iodide requires adding toxic organic improvers, which is complicated, difficult to elute, has a long analysis time, high detection limit and low sensitivity. OBJECTIVES IonPac AS23 column with alkanol-based quaternary ammonium functional group has strong hydrophilicity and can maintain high capacity in a wide pH range (0-14), which is suitable for hydroxide and carbonate leaching systems. Based on this, a method for the determination of iodide in groundwater by suppressed conduction-ion chromatography was developed. METHODS IonPac AS23 (4mm×250mm) anion analysis column and IonPac AS23 anion protection column, Dionex AERS 500(4mm) anion inhibited conductivity detector, HPIC separation method, were used to detect iodide in groundwater with 50mmol/L KOH eluent (hydroxide eluent, the product after conductivity inhibition is zero conductivity water, providing an ideal conductivity baseline) at a flow rate of 1.2mL/min (the concentration and flow rate of the eluent increased, and the retention time was shortened) and a suppressive conductance detector current of 125mA (the current increased, the instrument detection sensitivity increased). The sample volume was 250μL, and the samples were filtered through a 0.45μm water microporous filter membrane. 10mL of initial filtrate was discarded, and about 10mL of subsequent filtrate was collected. After that the iodide in the groundwater samples was detected. RESULTS The chromatographic peak separation was good, peak shape was symmetrical, and no trailing extension. The iodide peak emerged in 8.980min, the detection limit of the method was 0.5μg/L, the correlation coefficient of the calibration curve was 0.9998, and the linear range was wide (0. 01-2mg/L). CONCLUSIONS This method has a lower detection limit than that of the existing standard method for the determination of iodide in water, shorter peak time, and the detection range is better than that of the existing ion chromatography method. The experimental results show that the peak time is faster than that reported by its predecessors. This method is used to determine iodide in groundwater and is not disturbed by seven inorganic anions (F-, Cl-, NO3-, NO2-, SO42-, PO43-, Br-) in water. This method improves the accuracy of the determination of iodide in groundwater by alkanol-based quaternary ammonium functional group column AS23 under the hydroxide eluent system.

Abstract Rice (Oryza sativa L.), a major dietary source, is often cultivated in soils poor in available inorganic orthophosphate (Pi), which is a key nutrient for growth and development. Poor soils are amended by phosphorus (P) fertilizer, which is derived from the non-renewable rock phosphate reserves. Therefore, there is a need for developing rice varieties with high productivity under low P conditions. At the ICAR-IIRR, ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) mutagenized rice genotype Nagina22 (N22) were screened for high grain yield in Pi-deprived soil, which led to the identification of ~ 10 gain-of-function mutants including NH787. Here, detailed comparative morphophysiological, biochemical, and molecular analyses of N22 and NH787 were carried out in hydroponics and potting soil under different Pi regimes. Under Pi-deprived condition, compared with N22, NH787 exhibited higher root and vegetative biomass, the number of tillers, and grain yield. The augmented agronomic traits of NH787 were corroborated with significantly higher photosynthetic rate, pollen fertility, stigma receptivity, and the activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT). Further, several genes involved in the maintenance of Pi homeostasis (GPH) were differentially regulated. The study thus revealed a wide-spectrum influence of the mutation in NH787 that contributed towards its higher Pi use efficiency (PUE).

Panicle type is one of the important factors affecting rice (Oryza sativa L.) yield, and the identification of regulatory genes in panicle development can provide significant insights into the molecular network involved. This study identified a large and dense panicle 1 (ldp1) mutant produced from the Wuyunjing 7 (WYJ7) genotype, which displayed significant relative increases in panicle length, number of primary and secondary branches, number of grains per panicle, grain width, and grain yield per plant. Scanning electron microscopy results showed that the shoot apical meristem (SAM) of ldp1 was relatively larger at the bract stage (BM), with a significantly increased number of primary (PBM) and secondary branch (SBM) meristematic centers, indicating that the ldp1 mutation affects early stages in SAM development Comparative RNA-Seq analysis of meristem tissues from WYJ7 and ldp1 at the BM, PBM, and SBM developmental stages indicated that the number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were highest (1407) during the BM stage. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) revealed that genes in one module (turquoise) are associated with the ldp1 phenotype and highly expressed during the BM stage, suggesting their roles in the identity transition and branch differentiation stages of rice inflorescences. Hub genes involved in auxin synthesis and transport pathways, such as OsAUX1, OsAUX4, and OsSAUR25, were identified. Moreover, GO and KEGG analysis of the DEGs in the turquoise module and the 1407 DEGs in the BM stage revealed that a majority of genes involved in tryptophan metabolism and auxin signaling pathway were differentially expressed between WYJ and ldp1. The genetic analysis indicated that the ldp1 phenotype is controlled by a recessive monogene (LDP1), which was mapped to a region between 16.9 and 18.1 Mb on chromosome seven. This study suggests that the ldp1 mutation may affect the expression of key genes in auxin synthesis and signal transduction, enhance the size of SAM, and thus affect panicle development. This study provides insights into the molecular regulatory network underlying rice panicle morphogenesis and lays an important foundation for further understanding the function and molecular mechanism of LDP1 during panicle development. Brassinazole resistant (BZR) genes act downstream of the brassinosteroid signaling pathway regulating plant growth and development and participating in plant stress responses. However, the BZR gene family has not systematically been characterized in potato. We identified eight BZR genes in Solanum tuberosum, which were distributed among seven chromosomes unequally and were classified into three subgroups. Potato and tomato BZR proteins were shown to be closely related with high levels of similarity. The BZR gene family members in each subgroup contained similar conserved motifs. StBZR genes exhibited tissue-specific expression patterns, suggesting their functional differentiation during evolution. StBZR4, StBZR7, and StBZR8 were highly expressed under white light in microtubers. StBZR1 showed a progressive up-regulation from 0 to 6 h and a progressive down-regulation from 6 to 24 h after drought and salt stress. StBZR1, StBZR2, StBZR4, StBZR5, StBZR6, StBZR7 and StBZR8 were significantly induced from 0 to 3 h under BR treatment. This implied StBZR genes are involved in phytohormone and stress response signaling pathways. Southwest China is one of the three largest continuous karst clusters in the world; therefore, studies on karst rocky desertification in this area are very important. For more than 20 years' control, the decreasing area and risk of karst rocky desertification has contributed to the continuous ecological improvement. Nowadays, studies on rocky desertification mainly focus on the eight provinces in Southwest China, which have been designated as rocky desertification monitoring areas by the Chinese government. After the first phase of the comprehensive control project for karst rocky desertification in 2016, the expansion trend of rocky desertification in the southwest region was effectively curbed. Subsequent articles published tend to focus on analyzing the current situation, comprehensive management, or species adaptability of rocky desertification monitoring areas. However, the Qinba region in Shaanxi Province is located outside the monitoring area. In the process of studying the karst geological relics of the Zhenba Sanyuan Tiankeng Group, signs of rocky desertification have been found, but there still exists a research gap in the investigation and research on karst rocky desertification in this area which is one of the areas with the richest biodiversity in China, known as "ecological lung", "central water tower" and "biological gene bank". Unfortunately, this area is burdened with poverty, so the investigation and study of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province is of great significance to ensure green and high-quality development and ecological civilization construction. In this paper, by analyzing the current situation of karst rocky desertification in Southwest China, we summarized its harm to the ecological environment and social economy, clarify natural and human factors resulting in rocky desertification, and integrate the typical treatment experience in Southwest China. We also introduce three technical methods, including remote sensing interpretation, UAV remote sensing survey and analysis of carbonate dissolution rate, to provide a scientific basis for studies on karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province. Study results show that the area of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region covers 63.37 km², and the areas of severe, moderate and mild rocky desertification cover 17.97 km², 21.60 km² and 23.80 km², respectively. Based on the survey results, there are both regional differences and some similarities in distribution patterns in the areas of rocky desertification development. Specifically, the degree of rocky desertification in the limestone area is more severe than that in the dolomite area. It is also more severe in the area with developed water system than that in the arid and semi-arid area, and the more active the new structure is, the more severe the rocky desertification is. Compared to the Southwest China, the degree of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region of Shaanxi Province is relatively light, with a smaller distribution area, mainly due to the less rainfall in the study area. The karst rocky desertification in Beiyang mountain of Zhen'an county is the most severe, with an area of 7.28 km². In the 1960s, a large-scale free-range of livestock severely damaged vegetation. The indiscriminate deforestation by humans further exacerbated the process of rocky desertification. The rocky desertification in Hailuogong village of Shanyang county is also severe, covering an area of 5.83 km², because the landform in this area is a typical peak-cluster depression, which is likely developed into rocky desertification. The contradiction between people and land needs to be solved urgently. In conclusion, more monitoring and research efforts are needed in Beiyang mountain and Hailuogong where the rocky desertification is severe. Firstly, we should clarify the causes of rocky desertification in the Qinba region and compare them with the causes in Southwest China to determine whether the rocky desertification is mainly resulted from natural factors or human factors. Secondly, we should know how to clarify the causes of karst rocky desertification in the Qinba region; for example, we can dynamically monitor the change of rock desertification by field verification, remote sensing interpretation, climate change analysis, etc. We can also calculate the contribution rate of each influence factor by geographical detector model. Thirdly, we should further study influence factors of karst dissolution rate. We can monitor physical and chemical properties of soil (soil moisture, carbon dioxide concentration, pH, organic matter content and porosity) in areas with moderate to severe rocky desertification, and analyze the relationship between dissolution rate and physical and chemical properties of soil in rocky desertification areas. Finally, in order to provide basic data for carbon neutrality research in Shaanxi, we should conduct studies on the carbon sink of rocky desertification areas in the Qinba region, with the methods such as dissolution test pieces and hydrochemical runoff. Plant architecture, one of the key factors that determine grain yield in rice, is mainly affected by components such as plant height, tiller number, and panicle morphology. For this paper, we obtained a multi-tillering and lazy mutant from a japonica rice cultivar, Wuyunjing 7 (WYJ7), via treatment with a heavy ion beam. Compared to WYJ7, the mutant showed a significant increase in tiller angle, tiller number, number of primary and secondary branches, and number of grains; however, the plant height and grain thickness of the mutant was significantly decreased. Phenotypic analysis of the F1 hybrids revealed that the multi-tillering and lazy mutant phenotypes were regulated by a recessive gene. The segregation ratio of 1׃3 of the mutant phenotype and the wild-type plant in the F2 population indicated that the former was controlled by a single gene named Multi-Tillering and Lazy 1 (MTL1). Bulked segregant analysis was performed using the individual plants with extremely typical tiller angles in the F2 population. The MTL1 gene was initially mapped within a region of 5.58–17.64 Mb on chromosome 11. By using the F2 segregated population for fine mapping, the MTL1 gene was ultimately fine mapped within the range of 66.67 kb on chromosome 11. The analysis of genes in this region revealed the presence of the previously identified LAZY1 (LA1) gene. Genomic PCR amplification and semi-quantitative RT-PCR assays showed that the LA1 gene could not be amplified and was not expressed, thus indicating that the MTL1 gene might be identical to the LA1 gene. This study suggests that the multi-tillering and lazy mutant phenotypes might be caused by the deletion of LA1 function. This finding can guide further investigations on the functional mechanisms of the LA1 gene, thus enriching the theoretical knowledge of plant architecture in relation to rice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CONSTANS-like (COL) genes play important regulatory roles in flowering, tuber formation and the development of the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). However, the COL gene family in S. tuberosum has not been systematically identified, restricting our knowledge of the function of these genes in S. tuberosum. In our study, we identified 14 COL genes, which were unequally distributed among eight chromosomes. These genes were classified into three groups based on differences in gene structure characteristics. The COL proteins of S. tuberosum and Solanum lycopersicum were closely related and showed high levels of similarity in a phylogenetic tree. Gene and protein structure analysis revealed similarities in the exon–intron structure and length, as well as the motif structure of COL proteins in the same subgroup. We identified 17 orthologous COL gene pairs between S. tuberosum and S. lycopersicum. Selection pressure analysis showed that the evolution rate of COL homologs is controlled by purification selection in Arabidopsis, S. tuberosum and S. lycopersicum. StCOL genes showed different tissue-specific expression patterns. StCOL5 and StCOL8 were highly expressed specifically in the leaves of plantlets. StCOL6, StCOL10 and StCOL14 were highly expressed in flowers. Tissue-specific expression characteristics suggest a functional differentiation of StCOL genes during evolution. Cis-element analysis revealed that the StCOL promoters contain several regulatory elements for hormone, light and stress signals. In recent years, the emergence of soybean stay-green syndrome (SGS), also referred to as 'zhengqing', in the Huang-Huai-Hai region of China has resulted in significant yield losses. SGS is a phenomenon characterized by the delayed senescence of soybean, resulting in stay-green leaves, flat pods, and stunted seed development at harvest. We previously identified a distinct geminivirus, named soybean stay-green associated geminivirus (SoSGV), as the causative agent of SGS by fulfilling Koch's postulates. To further understand the epidemiology of SoSGV, in this study, we collected 368 stay-green samples from 17 regions in 8 provinces including the Huang-Huai-Hai region and surrounding areas. The results showed that 228 samples tested positive for SoSGV (61.96%), and 96.93% of these positive samples showed severe pod deflation. Our epidemiological assessment reveals that SGS caused by the SoSGV is prevalent in the fields, and it is undergoing geographical expansion and genetic differentiation. Additionally, we determined other natural hosts grown in the Huang-Huai-Hai region. By capturing insects in the field and conducting laboratory vector transmission tests, we confirmed that the common brown leafhopper (Orosius orientalis) is the transmission vector of SoSGV. With a better understanding of the transmission and epidemiology of SoSGV, we can develop more effective strategies for managing and mitigating its impact on soybean yields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Low Phosphate Root (LPR) encodes a protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and cell wall. This gene plays a key role in responding to phosphate (Pi) deprivation, especially in remodeling the root system architecture (RSA). An identification and expression analysis of the OsLPR family in rice (Oryza sativa) has been previously reported, and OsLPR5, functioning in Pi uptake and translocation, is required for the normal growth and development of rice. However, the role of OsLPR3, one of the five members of this family in rice, in response to Pi deficiency and/or in the regulation of plant growth and development is unknown. Therefore, in this study, the roles of OsLPR3 in these processes were investigated, and some functions were found to differ between OsLPR3 and OsLPR5. OsLPR3 was found to be induced in the leaf blades, leaf sheaths, and roots under Pi deprivation. OsLPR3 overexpression strongly inhibited the growth and development of the rice but did not affect the Pi homeostasis of the plant. However, oslpr3 mutants improved RSA and Pi utilization, and they exhibited a higher tolerance to low Pi stress in rice. The agronomic traits of the oslpr3 mutants, such as 1000-grain weight and seed length, were stimulated under Pi-sufficient conditions, indicating that OsLPR3 plays roles different from those of OsLPR5 during plant growth and development, as well as in the maintenance of the Pi status of rice. Online experiments are the gold standard for evaluating impact on user experience and accelerating innovation in software. However, since experiments are typically limited in duration, observed treatment effects are not always stable, sometimes revealing increasing or decreasing patterns over time. There are multiple causes for a treatment effect to change over time. In this article, we focus on a particular cause, user-learning, which is primarily associated with novelty or primacy. Novelty describes the desire to use new technology that tends to diminish over time. Primacy describes the growing engagement with technology as a result of adoption of the innovation. Estimating user-learning is critical because it holds experimentation responsible for trustworthiness, empowers organizations to make better decisions by providing a long-term view of expected impact, and prevents user dissatisfaction. In this article, we propose an observational approach, based on difference-in-differences technique to estimate user-learning at scale. We use this approach to test and estimate user-learning in many experiments at Microsoft. We compare our approach with the existing experimental method to show its benefits in terms of ease of use and higher statistical power, and to discuss its limitation in presence of other forms of treatment interaction with time. Sugar plays an important role in regulating the flowering of plants. However, studies of genes related to flowering regulation by the sugar pathway of Brassicaceae plants are scarce. In this study, we performed a comprehensive comparative genomics analysis of the flowering genes in the sugar pathway from seven members of the Brassicaceae, including: Arabidopsis thaliana, Arabidopsis lyrata, Astelia pumila, Camelina sativa, Brassica napus, Brassica oleracea, and Brassica rapa. We identified 105 flowering genes in the sugar pathway of these plants, and they were categorized into nine groups. Protein domain analysis demonstrated that the IDD8 showed striking structural variations in different Brassicaceae species. Selection pressure analysis revealed that sugar pathway genes related to flowering were subjected to strong purifying selection. Collinearity analysis showed that the identified flowering genes expanded to varying degrees, but SUS4 was absent from the genomes of Astelia pumila, Camelina sativa, Brassica napus, Brassica oleracea, and Brassica rapa. Tissue-specific expression of ApADG indicated functional differentiation. To sum up, genome-wide identification revealed the expansion, contraction, and diversity of flowering genes in the sugar pathway during Brassicaceae evolution. Novel phosphorus-containing binaphthyl epoxy DGEBN (diglycidyl ether of 2,2'-hydroxy-1, 1'-binaphthalene) with high thermal performance was obtained from the addition reaction of DGEBN and diethyl phosphite. The modified binaphthyl epoxy was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The dynamic mechanical property of the cured epoxy polymer was investigated by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis. The result revealed that the cured polymer with lower phosphorus content displayed higher value of the storage modulus when the networks reached rubbery state (above the glass transition temperature [T.sub.g]). The [T.sub.g]s decreased slightly with increasing phosphorous content. The thermal degradation was studied with thermogravimetric analysis and the evolved gas was analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis/Fourier transform infrared technique. The influence of phosphorus content and the chemical structure on the degradation behavior was discussed. The P-modified binaphthyl epoxy polymers exhibited higher thermal stability than the P-modified diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A polymer. Flammability measurements were performed by the examination of limited oxygen index and UL-94 test. Oral immunization can elicit an effective immune response and immune tolerance to specific antigens. When compared with the traditional injection route, delivering antigens via the gastrointestinal mucosa offers superior immune effects and compliance, as well as simplicity and convenience, making it a more optimal route for immunization. At present, various oral vaccine delivery systems exist. Certain modified bacteria, such as Salmonella, Escherichia coli and particularly Lactobacillus, are considered promising carriers for oral vaccines. These carriers can significantly enhance immunization efficiency by actively replicating in the intestinal tract following oral administration. The present review provided a discussion of the main mechanisms of oral immunity and the research progress made in the field of oral vaccines. Additionally, it introduced the advantages and disadvantages of the currently more commonly administered injectable COVID-19 vaccines, alongside the latest advancements in this area. Gartanin, a compound found in mangosteen, has various pharmacological activities, including anticancer, anti-inflammation, and antioxidation. In the present study, we reported differences of gartanin metabolism among species and the effect of gartanin on cytochrome P450 (CYP) activities and protein expression. We found significant difference in gartanin metabolism among species, where rabbits and humans had similar metabolic characteristics. Five CYP-catalysed metabolites and three glucuronosyltransferase (UGT)-catalysed metabolites were identified by LC-MS/MS. Hydroxylation was the major metabolic pathway. Gartanin exhibited mixed inhibition on CYP1A2 activity with IC50 and Ki values of 1.48 and 3.71 μM, respectively. In addition, gartanin down-regulated the protein expressions of CYP2C9 and CYP2D6 and up-regulated the protein expression of CYP2D6. Members of the Low Phosphate Root (LPR) family have been identified in rice (Oryza sativa) and expression analyses have been conducted. Here, we investigated the functions of one of the five members in rice, LPR5. qRT-PCR and promoter– GUS reporter analyses indicated that under Pi-sufficient conditions OsLPR5 was highly expressed in the roots, and specific expression occurred in the leaf collars and nodes, and its expression was increased under Pi-deficient conditions. In vitro analysis of the purified OsLPR5 protein showed that it exhibited ferroxidase activity. Overexpression of OsLPR5 triggered higher ferroxidase activity, and elevated concentrations of Fe(III) in the xylem sap and of total Fe in the roots and shoots. Transient expression of OsLPR5 in Nicotiana benthamiana provided evidence of its subcellular localization to the cell wall and endoplasmic reticulum. Knockout mutation in OsLPR5 by means of CRISPR-Cas9 resulted in adverse effects on Pi translocation, on the relative expression of Cis-NAT OsPHO1;2 , and on several morphological traits, including root development and yield potential. Our results indicate that ferroxidase-dependent OsLPR5 has both a broad-spectrum influence on growth and development in rice as well as affecting a subset of physiological and molecular traits that govern Pi homeostasis. In phosphate (Pi)‐deprived Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is substituted by sulfolipid for maintaining Pi homeostasis. Sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol1 (AtSQD1) encodes a protein, which catalyzes uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) and sulfite (SO32−) to UDP‐sulfoquinovose, which is a key component in the sulfolipid biosynthetic pathway. In this study, a reverse genetics approach was employed to decipher the function of the AtSQD1 homolog OsSQD1 in rice. Differential expressions of OsSQD1 in different tissue and response to −P and −S also detected, respectively. The in vitro protein assay and analysis suggests that OsSQD1 is a UDP‐sulfoquinovose synthase. Transient expression analysis showed that OsSQD1 is located in the chloroplast. The analyses of the knockout (ossqd1) and knockdown (Ri1 and Ri2) mutants demonstrated reductions in Pi and total P concentrations, 32Pi uptake rate, expression levels of Pi transporters and altered developmental responses of root traits, which were accentuated during Pi deficiency. The inhibitory effects of the OsSQD1 mutation were also evident in the development of reproductive tissue. Furthermore, OsSQD1 differently affects lipid composition under different Pi regime affects sulfur (S) homeostasis. Together, the study revealed that OsSQD1 affects Pi and S homeostasis, and lipid composition in response to Pi deprivation. The mutation in OsSQD1 affected several morphophysiological and molecular traits governing homeostasis of Pi, S and lipid composition in the whole plant. The positive influence of OsSQD1 was also evident on the developmental responses of different root and reproductive traits under different Pi regime. Summary: Phosphorus (P) is an essential macronutrient required for plant development and production. The mechanisms regulating phosphate (Pi) uptake are well established, but the function of chloroplast Pi homeostasis is poorly understood in Oryza sativa (rice). PHT2;1 is one of the transporters/translocators mediating Pi import into chloroplasts. In this study, to gain insight into the role of OsPHT2;1‐mediated stroma Pi, we analyzed OsPHT2;1 function in Pi utilization and photoprotection. Our results showed that OsPHT2;1 was induced by Pi starvation and light exposure. Cell‐based assays showed that OsPHT2;1 localized to the chloroplast envelope and functioned as a low‐affinity Pi transporter. The ospht2;1 had reduced Pi accumulation, plant growth and photosynthetic rates. Metabolite profiling revealed that 52.6% of the decreased metabolites in ospht2;1 plants were flavonoids, which was further confirmed by 40% lower content of total flavonoids compared with the wild type. As a consequence, ospht2;1 plants were more sensitive to UV‐B irradiation. Moreover, the content of phenylalanine, the precursor of flavonoids, was also reduced, and was largely associated with the repressed expression of ADT1/MTR1. Furthermore, the ospht2;1 plants showed decreased grain yields at relatively high levels of UV‐B irradiance. T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) was a malignant lymphoma. Therefore, the development of novel therapeutic agents against T-ALL is imperative. Previous studies have shown that chrysophanol (CHL), an anthraquinone compound isolated from the Rheum palmatum L., exerts anti-proliferative and anti-metastatic effects in multiple malignant tumors. However, the effect of CHL on the progression of TALL is poorly understood. The aim of this study was to explore the role of CHL in the biological behavior of T-ALL cells and determine its underlying mechanism. Both T-ALL cell lines (Jurkat and TALL-104) were treated with CHL. The proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of T-ALL cells were determined by CCK-8, flow cytometry, wound healing, and Transwell assay, respectively. Western blot and RT-qPCR were applied to examine gene expression. The dual-luciferase reporter gene assay was employed to examine the regulation mechanism of miR-9 and PD-L1. A T-ALL xenograft model also was used to examine the effect of CHL on the tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. CHL treatment significantly inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion ability of both Jurkat and TALL-104 cells and induced cell apoptosis and the expression of miR-9. Moreover, miR-9 was proved to target PD-L1 by binding to its 3′-untranslated region (UTR). Mechanically, pretreated with PD-L1 inhibitor could augment the anti-proliferation and anti-metastatic effect of CHL, while miR-9-silenced alleviated this effect. Consistent with in vitro studies, CHL significantly suppressed the growth and metastasis of tumor in vivo. Our finding uncovers the antitumorigenic effect of CHL in T-ALL progression through upregulating the expression of miR-9 and suppressing PD-L1 expression, which may provide a new potential strategy for T-ALL clinical treatment. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are potential therapeutic targets in endometrial cancer, but the difficulties associated with their delivery to tumor target cells have hampered their applications. Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) have a well-recognized tumor-homing ability, emphasizing the capacity of tumor-targeted delivery of extracellular vesicles. hUCMSCs release extracellular vesicles rich in miRNAs, which play a vital role in intercellular communication. The purpose of this study was to verify a potential tumor suppressor microRNA, miR-302a, and engineered hUCMSC extracellular vesicles enriched with miR-302a for therapy of endometrial cancer. Here, we observed that miR-302a was significantly downregulated in endometrial cancer tissues when compared with adjacent tissues. Overexpression of miR-302a in endometrial cancer cells robustly suppressed cell proliferation and migration. Meanwhile, the proliferation and migration were significantly inhibited in endometrial cancer cells when cultured with miR-302a-loaded extracellular vesicles derived from hUCMSCs. Importantly, our data showed that engineered extracellular vesicles rich in miR-302 significantly inhibited the expression of cyclin D1 and suppressed AKT signaling pathway in endometrial cancer cells.
