Nowadays, waste discharge and contaminants in drinking water have emerged as a significant global problem. Therefore, it is necessary to remove these pollutants from the water and photocatalysis is the best technique for this purpose. The co-precipitation technique was employed to produce NiMn2O4 and ZnMn2O4 and a photocatalyst containing NiMn2O4/ZnMn2O4 heterostructure nanocomposite. Various analytical techniques have been ascribed to examine the physical, morphological and optical features of the fabricated catalysts. XRD diffraction peak patterns were utilized to confirm the presence of cubic NiMn2O4, tetragonal ZnMn2O4 and NiMn2O4/ZnMn2O4 phases in a nanocomposite. In photodegradation tests, the nanocomposite catalyst outperformed the individual catalysts. After 60 minutes of visible light exposure, this nanocomposite catalyst eliminated the methylene blue (MB) dye, attaining substantially higher degradation rates than pure NiMn2O4 (66%) and ZnMn2O4 (77%). The nanocomposite catalyst was highly effective against methylene blue (MB) dye with a degradation efficiency of 92%.

In this work, we report synthesis of thiosemicarbazones 1b-10b and their cyclic derivatives 1,3-Thiazoles 1c-10c. The prepared compounds were checked by FT-IR analysis, their characterization by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and elemental analysis. Both series were then evaluated for their antibacterial behavior using ciprofloxacin and tetracycline as reference. MIC values displayed 1b, 3b, 4b, 5b, and 2c as potentially good antibacterial agents. Series 1c-10c was further investigated for antioxidant activity using DPPH and ABTS assays. Compounds 9c and Ic exhibited better antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of; 4.949 and 4.884 mg/mL lower than that of the standard BHT (5.083 mg/mL) in DPPH protocol while in ABTS protocol, compounds 3c, 4c and 6c showed greater activity than standard BHT (IC50 values; 4.943, 4.944 and 4.984 mg/mL, respectively, BHT; (5.086 mg/mL)). Molecular docking result revealed that 8b and 2c displayed the finest enactment against the GlcN-6-P synthase as reinforced by its lowest binding energy (–31.06 and –28.44 kcal mol respectively) as compared to other ligands. These compounds are potentially novel for researchers and pharmaceutical companies to investigate other biological activities and processing.

Excessive use of fossil fuels has caused their rapid depletion, resulting in a growing energy crisis as well as many environmental concerns, and prompting the development of the sustainable energy conversion system. In this study, we report GO based SnSe nanomaterial incorporated via the hydrothermal route engaging OER activity. The morphological, structural and textual effects of the material have been measured with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET). Furthermore, the kinetic process, active sites, conductivity and stability of the electrode medium of GO, SnSe and GO/SnSe were estimated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) and chronoamperometry under 1.0 M KOH with Ni foam as a conductive substrate. Its electrochemical results depicted the following: the GO based SnSe nanocomposite displayed lesser overpotential around 336 mV to reach a current density around 10 mA cm−2 and Tafel slope of 36 mV dec−1. Cyclic stability and chronoamperometry analysis of GO/SnSe nanocomposite show stability over 35 h. The exceptional electrochemical properties of the GO/SnSe nanocomposite differentiate it as a good material for use in electrical and in many other fields in future.

Electrochemical water splitting is a well-sought method for the production of renewable energy due to its low cost, high efficiency, ease of operation, availability of a variety of catalysts, and green approach. In this research, an amine-functionalized Ce-MOF loaded on nickel foam (NF) presented as Ce-MOF-NH2/NF electrocatalyst is prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. Prepared material is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to confirm morphological and structural properties. The synthesized catalyst is used for electrochemical OER in a 1M KOH solution. Ce-MOF-NH2/NF demonstrated onset potential, Tafel slope, and overpotential of 1.49 V, 69 mV/dec, and 328 mV, respectively. For comparison, Ce-MOF is also prepared and employed for OER under the same conditions and it exhibited onset potential, Tafel slope, and overpotential 1.5 V, 89 mV/dec, and 348 mV, indicating the superior performance of functionalized MOF. The obtained results reveal the promising overpotential of the Ce-MOF-NH2/NF -based electrocatalyst for green energy production via electrochemical water splitting.

Electrochemical water splitting has enticed fascinating consideration as a key conduit for the advancement of renewable energy systems. Fabricating adequate electrocatalysts for water splitting is fervently preferred to curtail their overpotentials and hasten practical utilizations. In this work, a series of Ce-MOF, GO@Ce-MOF, calcinated Ce-MOF, and calcinated GO@Ce-MOF were synthesized and used as high-proficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction. The physicochemical characteristics of the prepared samples were measured by diverse analytical techniques including SEM, HRTEM, FTIR, BET, XPS, XRD, and EDX. All materials underwent cyclic voltammetry tests and were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and oxygen evolution reaction. Ce-MOF, GO@Ce-MOF, calcinated Ce-MOF, and calcinated GO@Ce-MOF have remarkable properties such as enhanced specific surface area, improved catalytic performance, and outstanding permanency in the alkaline solution (KOH). These factors upsurge ECSA and intensify the OER performance of the prepared materials. More exposed surface active-sites present in calcinated GO@Ce-MOF could be the logic for superior electrocatalytic activity. Chronoamperometry of the catalyst for 15°h divulges long-term stability of Ce-MOF during OER. Impedance measurements indicate higher conductivity of synthesized catalysts, facilitating the charge transfer reaction during electrochemical water splitting. This study will open up a new itinerary for conspiring highly ordered MOF-based surface active resources for distinct electrochemical energy applications.

The poverty-stricken population cannot withstand the shocks of global warming and can hardly pay the soaring expenditure of fossil fuels whose reservoirs are already approaching the threshold limit. These adventures guided the researchers towards water oxidation as a source of energy. In this study, a metal-organic framework (MOF)-based material was fabricated and catalyzed the lethargic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The synthesized material is characterized with different analytical techniques to confirm structural, morphological and textural properties. Its huge surface area (87 m2/g) rendered it a promising material to carry the OER. It exhibited shallow onset potential that is, 1.40 V vs. RHE and displayed an exceptionally low overpotential of 1.42 V vs. RHE to reach the benchmark current density (10 mA/cm2) with remarkably small Tafel slope that is, 34 mV/dec. It surpassed the state of the art electrocatalyst for OER, that is, IrO2 and RuO2 in efficiency as well as in stability.

Europium (Eu) doped spinel cobalt ferrites having composition CoEuxFe2−xO4 where x = 0.00, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09, 0.12 were fabricated by co-precipitation route. In order to observe the phase development of the ferrite samples, thermo-gravimetric analysis was carried out. The synthesized samples were subjected to X-ray diffraction analysis for structural investigation. All the samples were found to constitute face centered cubic (FCC) spinel structure belonging to Fd3m space group. Scanning electron microscopy revealed the formation of nanocrystalline grains with spherical shape. Energy dispersive X-ray spectra confirmed the presence of Co, Eu, Fe and O elements with no existence of any impurity. The magnetic hysteresis curves measured at room temperature exhibited ferrimagnetic behavior with maximum saturation magnetization (Ms) of 65 emu/g and coercivity (Hc) of 966 Oe. The origin of ferrimagnetism in Eu doped cobalt ferrites was discussed in detail with reverence to the allocation of Co2+ and Fe3+ ions within the spinel lattice. The overall coercivity was increased (944–966 Oe) and magnetization was decreased (65–46 emu/g) with the substitution of Eu3+. The enhancement of former is ascribed to the transition from multi domain to single domain state and reduction in lateral is attributed to the incorporation of nonmagnetic Eu ions for Fe, resulting in weak superexchange interactions.
