During the last 12 years using the GABRIELA (Gamma Alpha Beta Recoil Invetsigations with the ELectromagnetic Analyser) detector set up and kinematic recoil separators VASSILISSA / SHELS the experiments aimed to the gamma and electron spectroscopy of the Fm-Db isotopes, formed at the complete fusion reactions48Ca +207,208Pb--255,256 No* ,48Ca +209Bi--257Lr* ,22Ne+238U--260No*,50Ti +208Pb--258Rf* and50Ti +209Bi--259Db* , were performed at FLNR JINR.

We report preliminary results of computer vision analysis of caregiver-child interactions during free play with children diagnosed with autism (N = 29, 41-91 months), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, N = 22, 48-100 months), or combined autism + ADHD (N = 20, 56-98 months), and neurotypical children (NT, N = 7, 55-95 months). We conducted micro-analytic analysis of 'reaching to a toy,' as a proxy for initiating or responding to a toy play bout. Dyadic analysis revealed two clusters of interaction patterns, which differed in frequency of 'reaching to a toy' and caregivers' contingent responding to the child's reach for a toy by also reaching for a toy. Children in dyads with higher caregiver responsiveness had less developed language, communication, and socialization skills. Clusters were not associated with diagnostic groups. These results hold promise for automated methods of characterizing caregiver responsiveness in dyadic interactions for assessment and outcome monitoring in clinical trials.

Abstract Alterations in subcortical brain regions are linked to motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease (PD). However, associations between clinical expression and regional morphological abnormalities of the basal ganglia, thalamus, amygdala and hippocampus are not well established. We analyzed 3D T1-weighted brain MRI and clinical data from 2525 individuals with PD and 1326 controls from 22 global sources in the ENIGMA-PD consortium. We investigated disease effects using mass univariate and multivariate models on the medial thickness of 27,120 vertices of seven bilateral subcortical structures. Shape differences were observed across all Hoehn and Yahr (HY) stages, as well as correlations with motor and cognitive symptoms. Notably, we observed incrementally thinner putamen from HY1, caudate nucleus and amygdala from HY2, hippocampus, nucleus accumbens, and thalamus from HY3, and globus pallidus from HY4–5. Subregions of the thalami were thicker in HY1 and HY2. Largely congruent patterns were associated with a longer time since diagnosis and worse motor symptoms and cognitive performance. Multivariate regression revealed patterns predictive of disease stage. These cross-sectional findings provide new insights into PD subcortical degeneration by demonstrating patterns of disease stage-specific morphology, largely consistent with ongoing degeneration.

A distinctive feature of Roots type vacuum pumps is the selective of pumping, which is due to the dependence of reverse flows on the type of gas. To study this phenomenon, a mathematical model of the work process is used, based on solving differential equations of a system with variable mass. Comparisons of the experimental and calculated values of pumping speed and pressure increase for helium, argon and air show a discrepancy of no more than 10 %. Calculations have shown that under viscous flow conditions, switching from pumping argon to helium reduces pumping speed by more than 10 % and pressure increase by 50 %.

Abstract This paper presents an open dataset of over 50 hours of near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) recordings. Fifteen stroke patients completed a total of 237 motor imagery brain–computer interface (BCI) sessions. The BCI was controlled by imagined hand movements; visual feedback was presented based on the real–time data classification results. We provide the experimental records, patient demographic profiles, clinical scores (including ARAT and Fugl–Meyer), online BCI performance, and a simple analysis of hemodynamic response. We assume that this dataset can be useful for evaluating the effectiveness of various near–infrared spectroscopy signal processing and analysis techniques in patients with cerebrovascular accidents.

Abstract Intellectual disability and autistic features are associated with chromosome region 2q23.q23.2 duplication carrying LYPD6 and LYPD6B genes. Here, we analyzed LYPD6 and LYPD6B expression in patients with different neuropsychiatric disorders. Increased LYPD6 and LYPD6B expression was revealed in autism and other disorders. To study possible consequences of Lypd6 and Lypd6b overexpression in the brain, we used a mouse model with intracerebroventricular delivery of recombinant analogs of these proteins. A two-week infusion evoked significant memory impairment and acute stress. Both modulators downregulated hippocampal and amygdala dendritic spine density. No changes in synaptic plasticity were observed. Intracerebroventricular administration by both proteins downregulated hippocampal expression of Lypd6, Lypd6b, and α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR). Similar to Lypd6, Lypd6b targeted different nAChR subtypes in the brain with preferential inhibition of α7- and α4β2-nAChRs. Thus, increased Lypd6 and Lypd6b level in the brain are linked to cholinergic system depression, neuronal atrophy, memory decline, and anxiety.

This article examines the problems of identifying the values of procedural policy from theoretical and applied perspectives. Rooted in the general axiological principles of law, the values of procedural law guide law enforcement toward achieving positive outcomes by effectively resolving conflicts and disputes among the parties of legal procedures. It was shown that the values of procedural policy are best described by the axiological approach, which highlights its focus on meaningful, effective, rational, fair, and reasonable actions that align with the higher purpose and value of law. The conclusion was made that, in accordance with the strategies of legal axiology, procedural policy should be based on the doctrinal principles of legal science to enhance the efficiency of legal activities and uphold the value of lawmaking and law enforcement, including the administration of law, within today’s legal framework. The value of legal procedural policy was found to lie in setting new axiological standards, primarily associated with the dynamic development and use of new information technologies in legal practice. The value of jurisprudence in systematizing the legislative process and law enforcement was explored, thereby affirming the axiological nature of legal procedural policy.

For decades, Egypt has been developing under the pressure of unfavorable factors that consistently complicate the work of its reproductive mechanisms, the functioning of the market and other institutions, and result in a series of economic turmoil, social tensions, and political upheavals. In certain periods, the country managed, under favorable circumstances, to mobilize its capabilities to temporarily offset and compensate for the negative influence of internal and external factors and even demonstrate signs of some macroeconomic stability. But the general trend, characteristic of and inherent in an economy developing in harsh conditions, did not give a chance to stay on a more or less constant course for a long time. At the beginning of the second decade of the new century, violent popular uprisings and demonstrations actually led the country to a serious crisis. Its echoes are still felt today, and they carry an element of extremely undesirable destabilization for the largest state in the region. Egypt has historically retained the status of a regional power, no longer the only one, but involved in almost all economic and political initiatives and processes developing in the Arab region, playing an important role in them, which, naturally, should be supported by the corresponding economic potential.

Abstract Follicular lymphoma (FL) exhibits considerable variability in biological features and clinical trajectories across patients. To dissect the diversity of FL, we utilized a Bernoulli mixture model to identify genetic subtypes in 713 pre-treatment tumor tissue samples. Our analysis revealed the existence of five subtypes with unique genetic profiles that correlated with clinicopathological characteristics. The clusters were enriched in specific mutations as follows: CS (CREBBP and STAT6), TT (TNFAIP3 and TP53), GM (GNA13 and MEF2B), Q (quiescent, for low mutation burden), and AR (mutations of mTOR pathway-related genes). The subtype Q was enriched for patients with stage I disease and associated with a lower proliferative history than the other subtypes. The AR subtype was unique in its enrichment for IgM-expressing FL cases and was associated with advanced-stage and more than 4 nodal sites. The existence of subtypes was validated in an independent cohort of 418 samples from the GALLIUM trial. Notably, patients assigned to the TT subtype consistently experienced inferior progression-free survival when treated with immunochemotherapy. Our findings offer insight into core pathways distinctly linked with each FL cluster and are expected to be informative in the era of targeted therapies.

Abstract Identifying cellular identities is a key use case in single-cell transcriptomics. While machine learning has been leveraged to automate cell annotation predictions for some time, there has been little progress in scaling neural networks to large data sets and in constructing models that generalize well across diverse tissues. Here, we propose scTab, an automated cell type prediction model specific to tabular data, and train it using a novel data augmentation scheme across a large corpus of single-cell RNA-seq observations (22.2 million cells). In this context, we show that cross-tissue annotation requires nonlinear models and that the performance of scTab scales both in terms of training dataset size and model size. Additionally, we show that the proposed data augmentation schema improves model generalization. In summary, we introduce a de novo cell type prediction model for single-cell RNA-seq data that can be trained across a large-scale collection of curated datasets and demonstrate the benefits of using deep learning methods in this paradigm.

The Arctic zone is a strategically important territory of the Russian Federation from the point of view of socio-economic, scientific, and technological components, as well as in terms of planning the development of a system for ensuring national defense, state, and public security. Intensive exploration and development of Arctic territories, combined with a rapidly changing environment due to global climate change, carries a few risks for the environment. This determines the need to assess potential environmental damage and determine the significance of factors of potential negative impact on unique Arctic ecosystems now and in the future. The article presents current data from a radiation survey of the coastal zone of residential areas close to the site of the sinking of the nuclear submarine ‘K-159’ – Teriberka village and Kildin Island, Murmansk region, as well as the sea area to assess the primary levels of man-made and natural radionuclides before starting work on the potential lifting of the submerged object. This work was carried out as part of the implementation of the State Program of the Russian Federation ‘Health Development’ (approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated December 26, 2017, No. 1640). The results of measuring the ambient dose equivalent rate of gamma radiation in open areas and determining the content of man-made and natural radionuclides in samples of environmental media (soil, aquatic vegetation, marine aquatic organisms) and food products of local origin and production (mushrooms, berries, fish, milk). The research results showed that the state of the study area is generally stable in terms of the radiation factor, the content of radionuclides is at the background level. As part of this work, electronic database modules have been developed based on the results of radiation monitoring in Teriberka village and on Kildin Island. Certificate No. 2022621890 was received on registration of a database with the results of the radiation situation of the above-mentioned territories.

Abstract Introduction Kidney transplantation is the optimal treatment modality for patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease. The long-term mortality of kidney recipients is 48–82% lower than that of patients on the waiting list. However, the risk of developing malignancies in these patients is twice as high as in the healthy population. Specifically, the incidence of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in transplant recipients is 10–30 times higher than in non-transplanted patients. The reason for the increased risk is poorly understood, but is most likely related to continuous immunosuppressive therapy. The problem of kidney graft neoplasia has not been adequately addressed in the medical literature. Objective To determine the incidence of renal cell carcinoma in transplanted kidneys, enhance the efficacy of its treatment, and study the etiology of RCC development. Materials and methods A retrospective analysis of RCC incidence in kidney grafts was conducted in 3,270 patients who underwent kidney transplantation between 2013 and 2023. We evaluated the effectiveness of surgical interventions for these complications. Patients with histologically confirmed RCC of the transplanted kidney underwent genetic study to determine the etiology of the neoplasm. Results The incidence of RCC in transplanted kidneys was found to be 0.95% (n = 31), 28 patients underwent laparoscopic resection of the renal transplant tumor, 2 patients were treated with radiofrequency ablation of the tumor. Transplantectomy was performed in 1 patient. Conclusion Laparoscopic resection is an effective and safe method for the treatment of RCC in kidney transplants. Transplanted kidney cancer originates from the donor tissue. The clear cell variant of transplanted kidney cancer is a genetically determined disease.

The article analyzes the socio-economic situation in the Far Eastern Federal District in 2023 by main types of economic activities and territorial-administrative regions on the basis of operational statistical, analytical, and expert information. The issues of functioning of the real sector of the economy, social sphere, foreign economic activity in the context of continuing sanctions pressure are considered. It is noted that the instability and inconsistency of development trends in certain sectors of the economy remain. The index of output of basic types of economic activities demonstrates positive dynamics with a growth rate above the level of 2022. Investment activity remained at a high level despite the existing shock restrictions. A large increase in investment in fixed assets is associated with the implementation of the largest, including export-oriented, projects in the field of oil and gas chemistry, mining, reconstruction of transport and logistics infrastructure due to the new geography of trade interactions. The overall growth of industrial output was mainly due to the increase in hydrocarbon production in the Sakhalin Oblast’ and a significant increase in fish haul in the Kamchatka Krai. The construction sector demonstrates the greatest resistance to external shocks, with positive dynamics for the second year in a row due to, among other things, the expansion of housing construction. Freight transportation by all types of transport in the Far Eastern Federal District, with the exception of road transport, had positive dynamics. The issue that persisted was that of the deficit of carrying capacity of the Eastern polygon of railroads. Foreign trade was characterized by an increase in the physical volumes of exports and imports. One of the factors of economic growth was the expansion of consumer demand under the conditions of growth of real incomes of the population and declining inflation rate. Against this backdrop, there are numerous negative factors that may become serious obstacles to further growth: the inflation rate remains ahead of the economic growth dynamics; the number of workers, including highly skilled ones, decreases; the population continues to decline due to both natural loss and migration outflow

OBJECTIVE: Copy number variants (CNVs) are well-known genetic pleiotropic risk factors for multiple neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders (NPDs), including autism (ASD) and schizophrenia. Little is known about how different CNVs conferring risk for the same condition may affect subcortical brain structures and how these alterations relate to the level of disease risk conferred by CNVs. To fill this gap, the authors investigated gross volume, vertex-level thickness, and surface maps of subcortical structures in 11 CNVs and six NPDs. METHODS: Subcortical structures were characterized using harmonized ENIGMA protocols in 675 CNV carriers (CNVs at 1q21.1, TAR, 13q12.12, 15q11.2, 16p11.2, 16p13.11, and 22q11.2; age range, 6-80 years; 340 males) and 782 control subjects (age range, 6-80 years; 387 males) as well as ENIGMA summary statistics for ASD, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression. RESULTS: All CNVs showed alterations in at least one subcortical measure. Each structure was affected by at least two CNVs, and the hippocampus and amygdala were affected by five. Shape analyses detected subregional alterations that were averaged out in volume analyses. A common latent dimension was identified, characterized by opposing effects on the hippocampus/amygdala and putamen/pallidum, across CNVs and across NPDs. Effect sizes of CNVs on subcortical volume, thickness, and local surface area were correlated with their previously reported effect sizes on cognition and risk for ASD and schizophrenia. CONCLUSIONS: The findings demonstrate that subcortical alterations associated with CNVs show varying levels of similarities with those associated with neuropsychiatric conditions, as well distinct effects, with some CNVs clustering with adult-onset conditions and others with ASD. These findings provide insight into the long-standing questions of why CNVs at different genomic loci increase the risk for the same NPD and why a single CNV increases the risk for a diverse set of NPDs.
