The remanent domain structures of composite element magnetic barcodes have been imaged using photo-emission electron microscopy with contrast from x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD-PEEM) and analysed with reference to the results of micromagnetic simulations. The magnetisation configuration at the end of wide strips is found to be perpendicular to the majority magnetisation direction. This transitions to an incomplete rotation for nominal strip widths below 300 nm and is found to affect the mechanics of magnetisation reversal for nominal strip widths below 200 nm, owing to a difference in magnetisation orientation when an external magnetic field is applied that is just smaller than the magnetic coercivity of the structures and a corresponding change in reversal dynamics. This change in domain structure as strip width decreases is consistent with both the influence of shape anisotropy and with measurements of magnetic hysteresis. The magnetisation reversal characteristics of composite element structures are found to be dependent on the relative magnetisation configurations of neighbouring strips, which in turn are found to vary stochastically upon the application and removal of a magnetic field along the easy axis of the structure. It is found that the application of a canted field is necessary to ensure sharp, consistent magnetisation reversal of bits when writing a binary code. These results confirm that either improved lithography of narrower strips or non-rectangular elements would be necessary to further increase the number of individually programmable bits in a barcode.

Background Nowadays, financial institutions face and solve challenges to optimise Information Management (IM), so the use of new technologies such as Expert Systems (ES) is indispensable. Therefore, the objective of this research is to implement an ES to improve IM in insurance companies. Method In terms of approach, the agile methodology SCRUM was chosen, which consists of five phases: initiation, planning and estimation, implementation, review and retrospective, launch, and thus decision making and optimisation of the IM process. In addition, the following technologies were chosen: ASP.NET as programming language, HTML as markup language, SQL Server as database management and CSS for design and visual styling. Results The results also showed a significant increase of 35% in user service, accompanied by a significant improvement of 44% in report delivery. Finally, a significant improvement of 24% was observed following the implementation of the expert system. This streamlines processes, reduces waiting times, improves the user experience in real time and optimises the management of large volumes of data in the insurance company. Conclusions The system demonstrated that this tool improves decision making, reduces errors in the issuing area and provides a user-friendly interface for information management.

Noise pollution derived from motor vehicles, especially those with noisy engines, constitutes a significant challenge in urban environments, impacting quality of life and public health. In this context, the present study focuses on the implementation of an advanced technological solution: a web-based system specifically designed to monitor and manage noise pollution in Tarapoto, Peru. The execution of this project was structured in 4 key phases. The first phase involved extensive data collection and definition of the project scope. In the second phase, the system architecture was established based on initial observations. The third phase focussed on evaluating and improving system functionalities, while the fourth involved rigorous testing and corrections. The successful implementation of this system led to a significant improvement in the noise pollution monitoring process, reducing reporting times and improving data-driven decision making. This project not only provides a valuable tool for authorities in the management and mitigation of noise pollution, but also encourages community awareness and active participation in the sustainable management of the urban acoustic environment.

In the contemporary landscape of construction project management, the strategic integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology has emerged as a fundamental avenue to improve operational efficiency. This study evaluates the feasibility and effectiveness of the implementation of the BIM methodology in improving the management of construction projects in construction companies in Peru. Using an applied approach underscored by a quantitative and correlational non-experimental design, a comprehensive survey was administered to 415 workers. This survey focused on evaluating the dimensions of BIM (3D, 4D, and 5D), as well as the fundamental facets of project management that encompass planning and execution. The results reveal that 47% of respondents highlighted deficiencies within the 3D BIM dimension, indicating potential challenges in visualizing and understanding the design. Likewise, 49% of participants highlighted deficiencies within the 4D BIM dimension, shedding light on issues related to time coordination and strategic planning. Around 57% expressed reservations about the 5D BIM dimension, highlighting the complexities surrounding accurate cost estimation and financial management. The synthesis of these revelations underscores an urgent call for specific interventions to rectify these specific areas. This involves investing in cutting-edge BIM technology tools and the simultaneous provision of targeted training programs for stakeholders to increase their multi-dimensional view of BIM. Ultimately, the study results drive innovation, thus opening the prospect of a more sustainable and streamlined construction industry.

La gestión de pedidos es un proceso fundamental en las actividades logísticas y de distribución. A lo largo de los años, este proceso ha evolucionado significativamente, surgiendo diversas estrategias que buscan su eficiencia, entre ellas, Cross Docking. Sin embargo, en la era digital actual, se requiere de tecnología que permita lograr su optimización. En ese sentido, se buscó mejorar el proceso de gestión de pedidos de una empresa que aplica la técnica Cross Docking, a través del uso de un sistema web; por el cual, se realizó un estudio de naturaleza cuantitativa, de tipo aplicada y diseño pre experimental. Asimismo, se consideró una población de 30 registros de pedidos, empleando el fichaje y la ficha de registro para la recolección de los datos y el uso de SPSS para el análisis de los mismos. Entre los resultados, el primer indicador tasa de cumplimiento de pedidos completos aumentó significativamente de 59,03% a 94,63% (35,60%) y el segundo indicador tasa de pedidos entregados a tiempo incrementó positivamente de 78,47% a 97,27% (18,80%). Por lo tanto, el sistema web ha logrado incrementar el cumplimiento de pedidos de la empresa, reflejando una mejora de la gestión de pedidos.

Pointed magnetic elements are introduced as an improvement upon rectangular strips currently employed in composite element magnetic barcodes. The coercivity of these elements, as measured using the magneto-optic Kerr effect, is found to strictly adhere to a single power law relationship with the element width, where the power law exponent is dependent on the length of the pointed region and takes values between − 0.98 and − 0.91. The steeper gradients here, along with the absence of the crossover region seen in rectangular devices, present these structures as a strict improvement in terms of potential device applications. These improvements are found to be present for all structures where the pointed region is as long as, or longer than, the magnetic element is wide.
