Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the quality of nuclear science and technology research using the scientometric indicators, like activity index, attractivity index and publication efficiency index. Design/methodology/approach: The present scientometric study is based on the bibliographic data extracted from the core collection of the Web of Science database from 1989 to 2019. The data was collected using the advanced search feature, with a search string of 28 related terms. The bibliographic data for all the journal articles, excluding all other formats, was downloaded for statistical analysis. Findings: The present study highlights the growth pattern and the research efforts devoted to the field of nuclear science and technology worldwide, as reflected through the Core Collection of the Web of Science database, for 31 years from 1989 to 2019. The USA has emerged as the topmost producer, with a total share of almost 29% with respect to the world literature followed by Japan, Germany, France and UK. However, the relative citation impact has been the highest for Netherlands followed by the USA, Germany, France and UK, respectively. The study depicted that the activity index, also called as the relative performance indicator, has been the highest for the USA, whereas the attractivity index has been the highest for China, indicating its dominance in attracting citations to its publications in the field of nuclear science and technology. The publication efficiency index, the value has been the maximum for Iran, for which the value has been greater than 1 (1.618). The measure suggests that Iran's research effectiveness in the field of nuclear science and technology has been more than the research effort devoted to the field. Research limitations/implications: The paper was based on the data retrieved from a single database, and the results may vary across other databases. Hence, caution should be taken while generalizing the findings. Originality/value: Several scientometric studies have taken place in the field of nuclear science and technology, particularly in its allied branches, but none of the studies has focused on evaluating the research efforts carried out by the countries in terms of activity index, attractivity index and publication efficiency index, and the present study is an attempt to fill the gap. This study evaluated the scientometrics indices of Iranian medical sciences journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed databases until 2020. The present study is a descriptive and practical survey which was done using scientometric methods. The source of data collection includes Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed databases. Excel statistical software was used to analyze the data, and net draw software was used to plot the graphs. A survey on Iranian medical journals' status revealed that the number of journals in all three databases has been growing. "General and Internal Medicine", "Health", and "Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy" are the subjects with the highest number of indexed journals in these databases. Furthermore, a qualitative review of indexed journals showed that more than 70% of Iranian journals have an impact factor of less than two. "International Journal of Health Policy and Management" of Kerman medical sciences university and "Bioimpacts" of Tabriz medical sciences university are the only medical journals with impact factors greater than 3 (5.007 and 3.831). Conclusions: Generally, despite the significant growth of indexed medical journals in recent years, most Iranian journals are not ranked among high-quality journals according to global indexing criteria. This study aimed to identify the effect of Altmetrics indicators of Mendeley resource management database on scientometric indicators in Scopus and Web of Science citation databases. The present study is an applied and descriptive research that has been done by scientometric method with Altmetrics approach. The statistical sample for the study includes Iranian researchers in the field of nursing who had an indexed document in the Scopus citation database, in the period 2000-2019 and on the date of the research (20/03/2020), and was also a member of the Mendeley resource management database. There were 158 high-profile authors introduced by Scopus. Findings illustrated that there is no significant relationship between the h-index in Scopus and the followers' index in Mendeley. However, there is a significant relationship between the other indicators studied in these two databases. There is also a significant relationship between co-authorship index, h-index, citations, readers, publications, and viewers in Mendeley scientific social network with indexes of citation number and h-index in the Web of Science citation database. But there is no significant relationship between the follower's index and these indicators. Examining the relationship between the numbers of citations received in Mendeley, Scopus, and Web of Science shows that there is a significant relationship between the numbers of citations received in these databases. Respectively, the strongest correlation, in this case, is between the citation index received in the Mendeley and Web of Science database, Mendeley and Scopus, and finally Scopus and Web of science. There is also a significant relationship between the etch index in the Mendeley, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. To achieve a sustainable development, each country requires a defined interaction between universities, government and industry. The economic, social and cultural development plans in Iran has emphasized on "accountability of scientific, research and educational centers for social, cultural and industrial demands". This is obvious also in the field of veterinary science. Also, the collaborations of colleges, organizations and industries in this field can contribute to enhance productivity, providing food security and achieving the goals of the resistance economy. Accordingly, using Triple Helix method, the present research investigates the status of university, government and industry interactions in scientific production of Iranians in the field of veterinary science during 2010-2018. The research population was scientific papers of veterinary science research area, indexed in Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) or Web of Science database (WOS) by at least one Iranian author during 2010 - 2018. Also, the interactions between UGI were calculated, using ISI.EXE for coding the affiliations and Shannon's information theory formulas. The results of the study showed that a very small percentage of articles published in veterinary science are written by non-university researchers or even by co-authorship of university and other sectors of the triple helix. Among bilateral relations, the UG interactions had the highest value. The best years for UGI interactions, were the year 2016 and 2013 for ISC articles and 2010 and 2011 for WOS articles. The results also, showed considering the scientific articles published in internal journals (ISC) have a high positive impact on the T-value of UGI interactions, as ISC trilateral interactions are remarkably better than WOS articles. Persian medicine (PM), also known as Iranian traditional medicine, is a collection of ancient experience, knowledge and skills that has been long practiced by Iranian experts for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Given the importance of assessing scientific outputs and the rising popularity of traditional medicine, such as PM, we aimed to perform scientometric analysis and draw a scientific map of PM-related publications to present a research perspective in this field of science. This descriptive and analytical study was carried out with a scientometric approach on all PM-related scientific publications in the Web of Science (WoS) database until November 2018. The VOSviewer software was used for drawing the scientific maps. The results showed that until 18 November 2018, 1717 documents related to the field of PM have been indexed in the Web of Science. Average citation rate in the field of PM was 8.11 citations per document. H-index of these documents was 49. The amount of scientific productions in the field of PM has increased dramatically since 2013 (growth rate= 61.06%). Journal of Ethnopharmacology, which is specifically dedicated to integrative and complementary medicine, has published the greatest number of PM documents (4.834 %). Moreover, 92.02 Percent of the authors of the retrieved articles were from Iran. Kamalinejad M. with 63 documents was the most prolific author in the field of PM, and the Tehran University of Medical Sciences with 336 articles contributed the most to publication of papers on this field. Based on the findings, PM is not well known enough among international researchers, and Iranian researchers and organizations contribute the most to publication of papers on this field of science. Collaborative writing, international co-authorship and participation in international conferences and meetings could fill this gap and boost popularity of this field of science worldwide. Background: Not all manuscripts that are accepted and published in scientific journals have retained their status as published articles, and some of them are retracted after publication. There are various reasons for retraction that are usually grouped into a scientific error, such as statistical flaws, and research misconduct such as plagiarism. Nowadays the number of scientific publications are a source of career advancement and respect in the scientific community. To attain these, the focus of researchers is towards increasing the number of publications per year which sometimes compromises the quality of publications. Aim: The current study aimed to investigate the characteristics of retracted publications that were contributed by Turkish authors to scientific databases. Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. The search strategies were based on a combination of MeSH terms relevant to "retracted publication" and "Turkey." The databases were searched on 23rd October 2021, without any restrictions on the search period. The inclusion criteria were: (i) retracted publication and, (ii) any authors of the study having affiliation with an institution in Turkey. The titles, authors' affiliations, and abstracts of the search results were screened and bibliographic information was extracted. Results: After removing duplicates and irrelevant studies, our search retrieved a total of 147 publications. The oldest retracted article was published in 1996; thereafter an increasing trend of retracted publications was evident. Regarding access to full-text status, 106 (72.1%) of full-texts were available. Overall 127 scientific journals have published these articles. Biochemical Genetics was the most frequent publisher with five publications. From the institutional point of view, Hacettepe University was the main university, contributing seven papers. The most common reason for retractions was duplication = 50 (34%), and most retracted notices have been issued by the editor-in-chief = 63 (42.9% of papers). The majority of publications were from Medical Science = 93 (63.3% of papers). Among the Medical Science publications, the highest number, 44, were from surgery and allied fields. Turkish authors had international collaborations with 20 countries. Sixteen papers have international collaborations with researchers from Iran. Only 10 of the retracted publications have received funding. Five of the first authors have submitted more than one retracted publication. Citation analysis indicates that the median number of citations received by retracted publications was two (IQR 0-7). The minimum time lag between publication and retraction was less than one year and the maximum was 13 years. Conclusion: The publish or perish pressure in academia sometimes leads to intentional and unintentional research misconduct. Although the number of retracted publications is fewer, their trend is increasing. To overcome the problem, it can be suggested that research methodology and research ethics training are essential in the under- and post-graduate curriculum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Opioids addiction and misuse are among the major problems in the world today. There have been several preliminary studies examining the effect of methadone on depression among addicts, however, these studies have reported inconsistent and even contradictory results. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of methadone on depression in addicts in Iran and around the world, using a meta-analysis approach.Methods: This study was a systematic review and meta-analysis including articles published in the SID, MagIran, IranMedex, IranDoc, Cochrane, Embase, ScienceDirect, Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science databases were searched systematically to find articles published from 2006 to March 2019. Heterogeneity index was determined using the Cochran's test (Qc) and I2. Considering heterogeneity of studies, the random effects model was used to estimate the standardized difference of mean score for depression. Subsequently, the level of depression reduction in Iran and worldwide in the intervention group before and after the testwas measured.Results: A total of 19 articles met the inclusion criteria, and were therefore selected for this systematic review and meta-analysis. The sample size of the intervention group in the selected studies was 1948. According to the meta-analysis results, the mean depression score in the intervention group was 26.4 ± 5.6 and 18.4 ± 2.6 before and after intervention respectively, indicating the reducing effect of methadone on depression, and this difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01).Conclusion: The results of the present study show that methadone significantly reduces depression in addicts. Therefore, regular methadone use can be part of a drug treatment plan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
