The aim of this research was to produce a film based on the mucilage of Paneerak flower modified with licorice root and copper sulfate nanoparticles. The D-optimal statistical scheme was used to study the antioxidant, antimicrobial, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermal decomposition (DSC) properties of the films. The results showed that with the increase of licorice root and copper sulfate nanoparticles, the antioxidant activity of the film increased significantly (p<0.05). The results of the antimicrobial activity of the prepared films showed that the addition of licorice and copper sulfate nanoparticles caused the antimicrobial activity of the film against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that copper sulfate nanoparticles are physically combined with the mucilage polymer of Paneerak flower and it reduces the crystal structure.Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results confirm the physical presence of copper sulfate nanoparticles in the polymer matrix. FTIR results also showed weak electrostatic interactions between film components and composites. The results of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) show that the surface of the films containing copper sulfate nanoparticles and licorice root are more heterogeneous than the mucilage of Paneerak flower. Shirin-bian and copper sulfate nanoparticles were able to delay the thermal decomposition of the mucilage of Paneerak flower and increase the thermal stability of the mucilage film. Finally, based on the results, the addition of copper sulfate nanoparticles and licorice root to edible films based on the mucilage of paneerak flower improved antimicrobial, antioxidant, DSC and SEM. Plant-mediated processes offer a more straightforward and cost-effective alternative to conventional chemical and physical methods for the reduction of silver ions to silver metallic nanoparticles. This study was conducted to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using a solution of silver nitrate (AgNO3) and a local Basciftlik white potato cultivar (S. tuberosum). Furthermore, the study aimed to compare antioxidant activity of nano-silver particles with that of the potato extract. The potato cultivar was extracted with deionized water and the solution was filtrated. The filtrate was reacted with AgNO3 solution to obtain the AgNPs. The structure of synthesized AgNPs was determined by a spectroscopic study, and characteristic functional groups were analyzed by a fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The signal observed at 3267 cm−1 is indicative of the hydroxyl functional group. The highest absorption at 429 nm in ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrum confirmed the occurrence of the synthesized AgNPs. The biogenic crystalline structure of the synthesized AgNPs was verified by an X-ray diffraction analysis. Average size and morphology of the St-AgNPs were determined by Scanning Electron Microscope analysis, which also indicated the formation of the AgNPs with an average size of 37.31 nm. Recently, nanoparticle (NP)-based drugs have been developed to increase the efficiency of existing cancer treatment approaches; however, how NPs interact with cellular systems is still uncertain. In this study, we have examined the ability of Se–FA NPs to enhance the chemotherapeutic effect of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in human AGS gastric cancer cells as well as their ability alone and in combination with 5-FU to modulate autophagy. The prepared NPs were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, and scanning electron microscope. Cytotoxicity and autophagy-modulating activity of NPs were determined using MTT, q-PCR, and western blot methods. The size and surface charge of NPs were determined to be ~ 90.4 nm and − 53.8 mV, respectively. Se–FA NPs enhance the cytotoxicity of 5-FU (up to 4.1-fold) and consequently inhibit autophagy flux in AGS cells. These findings confirm the therapeutic potential of combining Se–FA NPs with 5-FU in an in vitro gastric cancer model and may suggest an approach to overcome chemotherapy resistance in cancer. Nanofluids have demonstrated incredible potential for application in various industries such as coolants. Metal oxides are widely used as solid particles in formulations of nanofluids due to their advantages. Metal oxide-based nanoparticles (NPs), ZnO NPs were fabricated by the ultrasonically assisted co-precipitation method. The structure and morphology of the synthesized ZnO NPs were characterized using an array of analytical techniques including X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The XRD results showed that the purity of ZnO was obtained. The investigated nanofluids remained stable for a long time without substantial sedimentation. The present study deals with the corrosion assessment of St37 steel in nanofluids prepared with various concentrations of ZnO NPs. A scanning electron microscope coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy was used to determine the surface characteristics and elemental composition of low-carbon steel specimens both before and after corrosion tests. Notably, the nanofluid containing 0.05% by weight of ZnO nanoparticles demonstrated the highest corrosion prevention efficiency among the prepared nanofluids. Furthermore, impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that the corrosion resistance increased by 72.9% for the nanofluid containing 0.05 wt% ZnO NPs compared to the base fluid. These findings highlight the potential of ZnO nanoparticles as an environmentally friendly anti-corrosion compound in cooling systems, effectively reducing corrosion degradation. In the current investigation, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles and Fe-doped ZnO nanoparticles were sustainably synthesized utilizing an extract derived from the Rumex dentatus plant through a green synthesis approach. The Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Ultra-violet visible spectroscopy (UV–vis) spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques were used to examine the compositional, morphological, optical, and thermal properties of both samples. The doping of iron into ZnO NPs has significantly influenced their properties. The analysis firmly established that both ZnO NPs and Fe-doped ZnO NPs have hexagonal wurtzite structures and spherical shapes by XRD and SEM. The EDX analysis suggests that iron atoms have been successfully integrated into the ZnO lattice. The change in color observed during the reaction indicated the formation of nanoparticles. The UV–vis peaks at 364 nm and 314 nm confirmed the presence of ZnO NPs and Fe-doped ZnO NPs, respectively. The band gap of ZnO NPs by Fe dopant displayed a narrowing effect. This indicates that adding iron ions to ZnO NPs offers a control band gap. The thermal study TGA revealed that Fe-doped ZnO NPs remain stable when heated up to 600 °C. The antibacterial efficacy of ZnO NPs and Fe-doped ZnO NPs was evaluated against several bacterial strains. The evaluation is based on the zone of inhibition (ZOI). Both samples exhibited excellent antibacterial properties as compared to conventional pharmaceutical agents. These results suggest that synthesizing nanoparticles through plant-based methods is a promising approach to creating versatile and environmentally friendly biomedical products. This study presents the effect of chitosan on the properties of zinc ferrite nanoparticles suitable for potential biomedical applications. The co‐precipitation method is employed to fabricate these bio‐composites that exhibit excellent microstructural properties. The X‐ray diffractometer (XRD) analysis confirms the presence of a cubic spinel structure in the zinc ferrite‐chitosan bio‐composites, indicative of their crystalline nature. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging revealed spherical particles with a size distribution below 100 nm, demonstrating the successful synthesis of homogenous nanosized particles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis identifies the active functional groups within the bio‐composites, providing valuable insights into the molecular structure and interactions present in the synthesized materials. The presence of chitosan is confirmed, highlighting its role in modifying the chemical composition and enhancing the biocompatibility of the samples. UV–vis absorption spectra analysis reveals that the samples exhibits absorbance within the visible range. Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis demonstrates the superparamagnetic behavior of the samples. Remarkably, these formulated samples exhibit superparamagnetism with zero coercivity and a magnetization of ≈0.0125 emu g−1 at 5 kOe when doped with chitosan. Synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) with high purity, stability, and small sizes for biomedical applications is in high demand. The research on Fe3O4 NPs has been rapidly expanding and holds considerable promise for advancing new technologies and enhancing existing ones. Herein, Fe3O4 was synthesized from iron ferrous chloride (II) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) on air, and then coated with gum Arabic (GA) in a single step. The characterizations were investigated using UV–Vis absorption, ultra-high-resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Compared to bare Fe3O4, GA-coated magnetite nanoparticles (GA-Fe3O4) showed a uniform cubic morphology with a mean size of 8.61 ± 1.31 nm. Stability studies were performed via dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique, zeta (ζ) potential, and observing the precipitation of NPs over 5 weeks. GA-Fe3O4 showed higher stability of -34.5 mV compared to -23.1 mV for bare Fe3O4. Further, GA-Fe3O4 NPs demonstrate interesting magnetic properties that can be efficiently separated from the reaction medium with the aid of an external magnet. The magnetic properties of GA-Fe3O4 were confirmed through VSM analysis, revealing a significantly high saturation magnetism of approximately 226 emu/g. GA-Fe3O4 NPs are promising magnetic NPS that can offer several benefits in biomedical applications, such as increased biocompatibility, improved stability, and enhanced functionality. Boehmite is one of the stable phases of alumina that is easily available, and it also has a variety of applications. Therefore in this work, for preparation of AlOOH, Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions was added to aluminum nitrate nonahydrate (Al(NO3)3.9H2O) solution. Then, the surface of AlOOH was modified with (3‐aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES), due to high condensation of hydroxyl groups on its surface. Then, di(pyridin‐2‐yl)methanone (di(PM)) was immobilized on the surface of modified AlOOH toward synthesis of immobilized Schiff‐base on AlOOH (di(PM)@AlOOH) as a heterogeneous Schiff‐base ligand. Finally, a palladium complex was immobilized on its surface (Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH) as a reusable, practical, and novel nanocatalyst. Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) analysis, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis, wavelength‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (WDX) analysis, and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. After the characterization of Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH, its performance was used as a highly practical, stable, retrievable, and hybrid organic–inorganic catalyst in the C‐C coupling of the Suzuki reaction. The hot filtration study of Pd‐di(PM)@AlOOH revealed that it acts heterogeneously in the Suzuki reaction. Bismuth based metal oxides are regarded as potential candidates for fabricating photoelectrodes due to their cost-effectiveness, high stability, and significant light absorbing capability. Hence, our present study focuses on rendering an extensive evaluation of nano-sized bismuth tungstate (Bi2WO6) as photoanodes for photoelectrochemical water splitting activity. Bismuth tungstate nanoparticles have been prepared by a facile solvothermal route, and their structural, morphological, elemental composition, and optical properties have been characterized by employing powder X-ray diffraction analysis (PXRD), high-resolution scanning electron microscope (HRSEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) technique. For Bi2WO6 sample, the onset potential obtained for OER under dark and light conditions are ηdark = 0.83 V and ηlight = 0.71 V vs. Ag/AgCl respectively. The magnitude of photocurrent density at 1.23 V vs. RHE has been measured as 0.17 µA/cm2. From the Mott–Schottky plot, the flat band potential (Efb) for Bi2WO6 photocatalyst has been obtained as − 0.38 V vs. Ag/AgCl. Nanosized Bi2WO6 exhibited low onset potential, good photocatalytic stability, and suitable band edge potentials facilitating them to act as an efficient photoanode under stimulated solar light irradiation. Chemical mechanical polishing/planarization (CMP) slurry contains mainly abrasive grains (primary particles) with few aggregations (secondary particles). Measuring the particle size distribution (PSD) of CMP slurry is crucial for improving the productivity of the CMP process. For the quality management of CMP slurry, it is necessary to evaluate both the sizes and quantities of both the primary and secondary particles. Conventional PSD analysis methods, except for image analysis, face challenges in identifying primary and secondary particles for PSD measurements. For image analysis, the particles must be transferred from a suspension to a substrate using the conventional sampling method; however, this creates aggregates, resulting in a change in the PSD of the particles on the substrate compared to that in suspension under poly-dispersed conditions. Thus, this study proposed a novel particle sizing method using nanoparticle chip (NPC) to assist in the image analysis of the PSD. The NPC can pick up a single particle in a small volume droplet to avoid aggregation and maintain the poly-dispersed condition of the particles in suspension. The primary and secondary particles can be identified using scanning electron microscope (SEM) or atomic force microscope (AFM), and the PSD can be evaluated by measuring the area and height of the particles. Further, the quantities of both the primary and secondary particles can be counted from the substrate. This study presented a comparison of the diameter measurements using NPC and the conventional method. The results show that the NPC identified the primary and secondary particles and decreased the measurement error of the particle diameters. Non-enzymatic screen-printed chemiresistive interdigitated electrodes (SPCIE) were designed and fabricated using a low-cost screen-printing method for detection of the glucose. The interdigitated electrodes (IDE) pattern was printed using conductive graphene ink on the glossy surface of the photo paper. The proposed glossy photo paper-based SPCIE are functionalized with multi-walled carbon nanotubes-zinc oxide (MWCNTs-ZnO) nanofibers to create the chemiresistive matrix. Further, to bind these nanofibers with the graphene electrode surface, we have used the green synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with banana flower stem fluid (BFSF) as a binder solution. AgNPs with BFSF form the conductive porous natural binder layer (CPNBL). It does not allow to increase the resistivity of the deposited material on graphene electrodes and also keeps the nanofibers intact with paper-based SPCIE. The synthesized material of MWCNT-ZnO nanofibers and green synthesized AgNPs with BFSF as a binder were characterized by Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–vis), scanning electron microscope (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The amperometric measurements were performed on the proposed SPCIE sensor to detect the glucose sample directly. The innovative paper-based SPCIE glucose sensor exhibits a linear corelation between current measurements and glucose concentration in the range between 45.22 μ m and 20 mm, with a regression coefficient (R 2) of 0.9902 and a lower limit of detection (LoD) of 45.22 μ m (n = 5). The sensitivity of the developed SPCIE sensor was 2178.57 μ AmM−1cm−2, and the sensor's response time determined was approximately equal to 18 s. This report presents the preparation and characterization of a new composite containing Prussian blue analogues nanoparticles and poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP). Nanoparticles of nickel hexacyanoferrate (NiHCFe) and nickel hexacyanochromate (NiHCCr) were synthesized by the citrate-assisted co-precipitation method. Basic characterization revealed uniform cubic particles with an average size of 238 nm (NiHCFe) and 80 nm (NiHCCr). In the next step, these nanocubes were incorporated into composite fibres using electrospinning technique. The resulting fibres exhibited distinctive colours, and scanning electron microscope imaging showed differences in fibre morphology between NiHCFe/PVP and NiHCCr/PVP composites. The obtained results indicate the successful synthesis and characterization of Prussian blue analogue nanoparticles, as well as their integration into composite fibres, opening up possibilities for diverse applications. Plant‐based nanoparticles (NPs) have found great interest among various scientist in the present era and used in various sector including medicine, agriculture, and food industry. The various chemical constituents of plants aid in the bioreduction of metal ions to a nanoscale. Among the various NPs synthesized, zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs hold a premier position. ZnO NPs have use in textile, cosmetic, diagnostics, optoelectronics, photocatalysis, diodes, and many other areas. NPs synthesized through green synthesis have a potentially greater role in treating clinical pathogens. Present investigations show a simple eco‐friendly method for the synthesis of ZnO NPs from the husk of sunflower seeds. Sunflower is an economically important crop, for the formation of edible oil. The husk is considered to be a waste, product in oil industry, however, the biomolecules present in sunflower husk can be used to produce ZnO NPs. Present investigations reveal formation of ZnO NPs and investigations of their structure through scanning electron microscope (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The emergence of antibiotic‐resistant bacterial infections is a principal threat to global health. Functionalization of nanomaterial with antibiotics is known as a useful method for increasing the effectiveness of existing antibiotics. In this study, vancomycin‐functionalized ZnFe2O4 nanocomposite (ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van) was synthesized, and its functional groups and particle size were characterized using Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscopy. The antibacteria activity of the synthesized nanocomposite was evaluated using minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Cytotoxicity assay was done by 2,3‐bis‐(2‐methoxy‐4‐nitro‐5‐sulfophenyl)‐2H‐tetrazolium‐5‐carboxanilide method. Characterization analyses of synthesized nanocomposite confirmed the binding of vancomysin on the surface of ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES. Nanocomposite exhibited an aggregated semi‐spherical structure with hydrodynamic radii of ∼382 nm. In vitro antibacterial activity test showed that vancomycin and vancomycin functionalized ZnFe2O4 have no antibacterial effect against E. coli. S. aureus was sensitive to vancomycin and ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van NPs and ZnFe2O4 NPs did not improve vancomycin antibacterial activity against these bacteria. MRSA is resistant to vancomycin while ZnFe2O4@Cell@APTES@Van NPs was efficient in inhibiting MRSA growth. Purpose: This paper aims to investigate the preparation of AlN and Al2O3, as well as the effect of nano-AlN and nano-Al2O3, on friction and wear properties of copper-steel clad plate immersed in the lubricants. Design/methodology/approach: Nano-AlN or nano-Al2O3 (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 Wt.%) functional fluids were prepared. Their tribological properties were tested by an MRS-10A four-ball friction tester and a ball-on-plate configuration, and scanning electron microscope observed the worn surface of the plate. Findings: An increase in nano-AlN and Al2O3 content enhances the extreme pressure and anti-wear performance of the lubricant. The best performance is achieved at 0.5 Wt.% of nano-AlN and 0.3 Wt.% of nano-Al2O3 with PB of 834 N and 883 N, a coefficient of friction (COF) of approximately 0.07 and 0.06, respectively. Furthermore, the inclusion of nano-AlN and nano-Al2O3 particles in the lubricant enhances its extreme pressure performance and reduces wear, leading to decreased wear spot depth. The lubricating effect of the nano-Al2O3 lubricant on the surface of the copper-steel composite plate is slightly superior to that of the nano-AlN lubricant, with a COF reaching 0.07. Both lubricants effectively fill and lubricate the holes on the surface of the copper-steel composite plate. Originality/value: AlN and Al2O3 as water-based lubricants have excellent lubrication performance and can reduce the COF. Nanoparticles of zinc selenide (ZnSe) were produced by an innovative, uncomplicated, and extremely rapid process that took no longer than a few seconds. For the production of zinc ions, zinc chloride was utilized, and selenium was used for the production of selenium ions. The effect of Zn to Se ions ratio on optical properties has been examined. The prepared nanoparticles were tested and characterized by using transmission electron microscope TEM, scanning electron microscope SEM and UV–Visible spectroscopy. The morphological results revealed that the ZnSe has a spherical shape with mean diameter around 15 nm and the band gap of the ZnSe increases with increasing the Zn content in the sample. Summary: The present study evaluated the production of galactooligosaccharides (GOSs) from lactose in both batch and continuous modes using nano‐immobilised β‐galactosidase. Mesoporous silicon dioxide nanoparticles were used to immobilise β‐galactosidase to enhance the stability and production of GOSs. The change in enzyme‐characteristics was assessed using Fourier‐transform infrared and scanning electron microscope analysis. The nano‐immobilisation increased the enzyme's substrate affinity, but decreased its hydrolytic activity. A significant increase (P < 0.05) in stability was observed across a wide range of temperature (30 °C–70 °C) and pH (5.0–8.0). Both forms of enzymes (free and nano‐immobilised enzymes) followed the zero‐order reaction in all temperatures, while the nano‐immobilised enzyme had the highest activation energy. The free and nano‐immobilised enzymes retained 64.65% and 77.82% of their initial activity after 90 days of storage, respectively. In a batch mode, the nano‐immobilised enzyme produced 2.35 times more GOSs than the free enzyme. The GOSs production remained consistent while the enzyme activity decreased by 12.7% after 5 cycles of operation. The continuous mode of production in a packed bed reactor achieved a GOSs yield of 16.92%. Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4) were prepared by chemical coprecipitation method using ferric chloride (FeCl3) and heptahydrate ferrous sulfate (FeSO4·7H2O) salts employing sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as a precipitant. To determine the size, shape, and chemical makeup of the produced magnetite nanoparticles, the generated powders were examined by transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, and X-ray diffractometer. It was found that the magnetite powder had made a face-centered cubic crystal structure and spherical-like particle form with particle diameters of about 30 nm. The magnetic properties of magnetite nanoparticles were evaluated using a vibrating sample magnetometer. The obtained superparamagnetic properties of the produced nanoparticles, with saturation magnetization and coercivity of 50.75 emu/g and 30.09 Oe, respectively, allow them for applications in drug delivery, MRI contrast agent, catalysis, degradation of antibiotics, antibacterial activity, removal of heavy metals and organic dyes, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles were synthesized by using piper betle leaf extract. The UV absorption spectrophotometer analysis of piper betle leaf extract and metal compounds showed absorbance spectra in the range of 300-350 nm. The UV-Vis spectroscopy shows surface Plasmon resonance of CeO2 nanoparticles at 310 nm indicating the particles are poly dispersed. The FT-IR measurements were carried out to identify the formation of Cerium oxide nanoparticles and possible molecules such as OH, C=C, C=O, and aromatic compounds. The FT-IR analysis played a vital role in displaying the nanoparticles which showed strong absorbance in the range 671.05cm-1 for Cerium oxide nanoparticles. The diffraction peaks and planes of ions are indexed. From the 'X' ray diffraction studies, the size of the Cerium oxide nanoparticles is 27 nm as calculated by using Debye Scherrer's equation. The size, shape, and structure of nanoparticles were also analyzed by scanning electron microscope which shows an almost spherical shape of nanoparticles aggregation. Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) are just one of the attractive graphene-based nanomaterials that are rapidly emerging and have sparked the interest of many industries. These small stacks of platelet-shaped graphene sheets have a unique size and morphology that quickly disperse into other materials such as polymers, resulting in higher-value composite materials with improved thermal, conductivity, and mechanical capabilities. A detailed analysis of reinforced High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) using different sizes (2, 15, 25 μm) and compositions (8, 10, 15 wt.%) of Graphene Nanoplatelets (GNP) has been conducted. The microstructure of the HDPE/GNP nanocomposites was extensively examined during the melt blending and injection moulding processes. Based on the results, the nanocomposites with different sizes of GNP exhibited dissimilar behaviour with different compositions. Furthermore, scanning electron microscope (SEM) results indicated a homogeneous dispersion for GNP in melt mixing. Moreover, thermogravimetric (TG) data demonstrate that increasing filler showed a slight increase in the material's thermal stability. The use of GNP improved mechanical properties, as evidenced by the increases in Young's modulus of yield strength from around 100 MPa to over 400 MPa. Tin oxide (SnO2) nanoparticles were prepared by green synthesis process using extract of leaf from buckthorn and tin (IV) chloride pentahydrate (SnCl4·5H2O). The materials calcined at 400 °C for 3 h to produce of SnO2 NPs. SnO2 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, optical microscope, and optical spectroscopy techniques.The result of XRD showed formation tin oxide nanoparticles with tetragonal crystal structure. The optical properties were enhanced with rising concentration from 1.25gm/100 ml to 5gm/100 ml. The optical absorbance (A) enhanced of 42.3% at λ = 340 nm (UV-spectrum), 55.8% at λ = 540 nm (VIS-spectrum) and 53.3% at λ = 840 nm (NIR-spectrum). The energy gap is reduced from 3.31 eV to 3.16 eV while the SnO2 concentration increases from 1.25gm/100 ml to 5gm/100 ml. The obtained results showed that SnO2 thin film are appropriate for numerous electronic, photocatalytic and photonics fields. The SnO2 thin film employed for self cleaning against organic dyes. In this work, textured ceramics were successfully obtained using press-compaction-assisted binder jetting for the first time. A mixture of alumina nanoplatelets and nanoparticles was used as the feedstock powder (the nanoplatelets served as templates for epitaxial grain growth during sintering while the nanoparticles were consumed by the grain growth). The nanoplatelet fraction in the mixture was varied from 0 wt% to 50 wt%. Green samples were prepared with a lab-designed press-compaction-assisted binder jetting machine. The green samples were then sintered in a furnace and their sintered densities were measured. A scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer were used to investigate the degree of texture in the sintered samples. Finally, the biaxial flexural strength of the sintered samples was measured. As the nanoplatelet fraction increased, the sintered density decreased, but the degree of texture increased. Interestingly, the biaxial flexural strength of the sintered samples with 5 wt% or 10 wt% nanoplatelets was higher than those without nanoplatelets, suggesting the increased degree of texture has a stronger effect on the mechanical response than the reduced sintered density under these conditions. In recent times, nanoparticles have been used as raw ingredients for biofertilizers, mineral supplements in animal feed, and pharmaceuticals. Manganese plays a vital role in enhancing fish's growth and biological function. The present research work aimed to analyze the various quantities of manganese oxide nanoparticles on common carp growth and its haematological traits. Synthesized manganese oxide (Mn3O4) nanoparticles were illustrated using UV-visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDAX), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Six different feeds were prepared by incorporating different quantities of manganese oxide nanoparticles (Feed I (control-0mg), Feed II(3mg/100g), Feed III(6mg/100g), Feed IV(9mg/100g), Feed V(12mg/100g), and Feed VI (15mg/100g)) with common ingredients such as groundnut oil cake, fish meal, tapioca flour, and wheat flour. On the completion of 21 days, feed utilization and haematological characteristics of Common carp were assessed. The UV-Vis showed that manganese oxide nanoparticles exhibit strong adsorption peaks at 220nm. SEM image observed at the wavelength range from 9.22 nm to 9.35 nm. The size of the particles was in the 45-55 nm range. The EDAX spectrum recorded two peaks between 0.40 and 6 kev. The XRD graph shows that the diffraction peaks are indexed as 103, 004, 213, 204, 303, and 215. FT-IR spectrum measured at the wavelength range from 500-4000cm-1. Most of the growth parameters and haematological parameters were higher in feed III, containing 6mg of Manganese oxide nanoparticles. To evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of three-dimensional (3D) printed denture base resin incorporating TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs), subjected to a physical ageing process. Acrylic denture base samples were prepared by a Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing technique reinforced with different concentrations (0.10, 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75) of silanated TiO 2 NPs. The resulting nanocomposite materials were characterized in terms of degree of conversion (DC), and sorption/solubility flexural strength, impact strength, Vickers hardness and Martens hardness and compared with unmodified resin and conventional heat-cured (HC) material. The nanocomposites were reassessed after subjecting them to ageing in artificial saliva. A fractured surface was studied under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The addition of TiO 2 NPs into 3D-printed resin significantly improved flexural strength/modulus, impact strength, Vickers hardness, and DC, while also slightly enhancing Martens hardness compared to the unmodified resin. Sorption values did not show any improvements, while solubility was reduced significantly. The addition of 0.10 wt% NPs provided the highest performance amongst the other concentrations, and 0.75 wt% NPs showed the lowest. Although ageing degraded the materials' performance to a certain extent, the trends remained the same. SEM images showed a homogenous distribution of the NPs at lower concentrations (0.10 and 0.25 wt%) but revealed agglomeration of the NPs with the higher concentrations (0.50 and 0.75 wt%). The outcomes of this study suggested that the incorporation of TiO 2 NPs (0.10 wt%) into 3D-printed denture base material showed superior performance compared to the unmodified 3D-printed resin even after ageing in artificial saliva. This study aimed to investigate the durability performance of marine concrete incorporated with nano–SiO2 and nano–Al2O3 under the joint effect of dry–wet cycles, Cl− erosion, and carbonation. Free Cl− content and carbonation depth were used as durability evaluation indexes of concrete with nanoparticles under the joint effect of the three factors. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), backscattered electrons (BSE), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the morphology and phase composition of the concrete. The test results showed that the free Cl− content and carbonation depth of the concrete were significantly reduced after incorporating nanomaterials, indicating that nanomaterials improved the resistance of the concrete to Cl− erosion and carbonation under the joint effect of dry–wet cycles, Cl− erosion, and carbonation. Compared with plain concrete at 56 cycles, both nanomaterials showed the most significant improvement at a dosage of 1.8%, with a 20% and 37.5% reduction in free Cl− content and carbonation depth, respectively, for nano–SiO2 concrete, and 16.67% and 31.66% reduction, respectively, for nano–Al2O3 concrete. The improvement effect of nano–SiO2 was better than that of nano–Al2O3 , and the free Cl− content and carbonation depth of nano–SiO2 concrete were reduced by 3.33% and 5.84%, respectively, compared with those of nano–Al2O3 concrete at the optimal dosage. The microscopic test results showed that incorporating nanomaterials promoted the hydration process of cement and refined the pore structure of the concrete, improving the durability of the concrete under the joint effect of dry–wet cycles, Cl− erosion, and carbonation. A CeO2-doped plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) composite coating was prepared on the surface of Cu–Zn alloys by adding CeO2 nanoparticles into the mixed electrolytes of Na2SiO3·9H2O and sodium hydroxide. Surface microstructure and element composition of PEO coatings were studied by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Microstructure analysis showed that CeO2 nanoparticles were uniformly deposited on the sample surface, and most of the particles were embedded into PEO coatings. Ce element found in the EDS and XRD analysis confirmed the successful incorporation of CeO2 nanoparticles. Furthermore, with the addition of CeO2 nanoparticles, the coating porosity decreased gradually, while the thickness and surface roughness of PEO coatings decreased and then increased. Corrosion resistance of PEO coatings was investigated by using a potentiodynamic polarization test. The results show that the addition of CeO2 nanoparticles has significantly improved the corrosion resistance of PEO coatings. Nanoparticle incorporation plays an active feature in heat transfer, ultimately enhancing the tribological process under boundary conditions of heat stress. Nanoparticles like zinc oxide (ZnO) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) are well known to significantly affect the cooling and lubrication applications, resulting in improved heat transfer and kinematic viscosity. The present work investigates the tribological performance of ZnO/MWCNTs hybrids as lubricant additive in the paraffinic type of mineral base oil of Group I (SN150) engine oil. The chemical composition of the modified and unmodified oil was examined by an inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometer, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). A ring-ondisk tribotester was performed to investigate the tribological behaviour through the linear reciprocating mechanism alloy-steel contacts. The worn steel alloy surfaces morphology and chemical compositions were examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and 3D optical profilometer. Different ZnO/MWCNTs nanomaterial volumetric concentrations were examined in order to determine the most effective performance. According to the tribological results, ZnO/MWCNTs hybrid nanomaterials in the engine oil were found to have significantly higher friction temperature and antiwear capability than the base oil. A volumetric concentration of 3.00 wt% ZnO/MWCNTs nanomaterials to SN150 engine oil imparted excellent wear protection to the steel sample than the pure SN150 base oil. Based on the statistical analysis, the modified oil anti-wear performance was enhanced by reducing the wear loss by 80.5% and friction temperature by 55.8°C compared with the oil base. In this study, we present the first comprehensive investigation of the temperature-dependent band gap energy of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles, utilizing transmission measurements in the range of 10–300 K. X-ray diffraction pattern exhibited nine peaks related to tetragonal crystal structure. Scanning electron microscope image showed that the nanoparticles with the dimensions of 25–50 nm were found as micrometer sized agglomerated. When the spectrum obtained as a result of the transmission measurements was analyzed, it was seen that the band gap energy decreased from 3.29(5) to 3.26(6) eV as the temperature was increased from 10 to 300 K. Temperature-band gap dependence was analyzed using Varshni and O'Donnell-Chen optical models and optical parameters of the TiO2 nanoparticles like absolute zero band gap energy, rate of change of band gap with temperature and average phonon energy were reported. The purpose of this study was to explore the effect that stir casting has on a TiO2 and SiC nanoparticles reinforced aluminium matrix composite. In order to study the development of ceramic particle reinforced aluminium matrix composite, density, tensile strength, hardness, and fracture analyses were carried out. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) investigation showed that the reinforcement particles were distributed consistently throughout the aluminium matrix. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) study revealed the grain refinement of composites on inclusion of nanoparticles. The results of the experiments revealed that addition of 3 weight percent TiO2 and SiC particles to AA7178 alloy led to an increase in both the maximum strength and the hardness properties but, the elongation percentage of the manufactured composites progressively deteriorated. From the fractured surface of tensile samples, a microstructural study showed that AA7178, AA7178/TiO2, and AA7178/SiC nanocomposites were showing both ductile and brittle behaviour because of micro-cutting and micro-voids. The rapid breakdown anodizing method was used to produce (Bi, Bi2O3), (Pb, PbO2), and WO3 nanoparticles. These particles are utilized to fabricate gamma-ray shielding. The X-ray diffraction test displayed polycrystalline structures for all samples. Scanning electron microscope images illustrated the formation of (Bi, Bi2O3) and (Pb, PbO2) nanoplates and WO3 semi-sphere particles. Pressures of 318, 477, and 636 MPa were applied to reduce vacancies within the prepared powders and increase their densities. Cylindrical samples with a diameter of 14 mm and different thicknesses were formed. Utilizing gamma rays produced by sources like Am-241 (59.54 keV), Cs-137 (661.6 keV), Co-60 (1173 keV), and Co-60 (1332 keV), the shielding characteristics of the manufactured samples were studied. The linear attenuation coefficient, mass attenuation coefficient, and half-value layer were determined after the gamma flux was measured using a NaI(Tl) detector. The two attenuation coefficients were functions of the source energy, and they had the highest values for (Pb, PbO2) and the lowest for the WO3 sample. Schinus molle L. has been used as a folk medicine for many years. The aim of this study is to synthesize the silver nanoparticles, to identify them by spectroscopic techniques and to evaluate the antioxidant effects. In this study, Schinus molle was extracted with hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and methanol successively. After removal of the solvent from each extract by reduced pressure, the crude extracts were yielded. Methanol extract was used for synthesis of silver nanoparticles (s-AgNPs). The methanol extract dissolved in distilled water was treated with silver nitrate solution to produce the s-AgNPs. The extensive spectroscopic study enabled the identification of synthesized s-AgNPs. UV-Vis spectroscopic analysis presented the maximum absorption of s-AgNPs at 486 nm. The average particle size of s-AgNPs was measured as 77.6 nm by Scanning electron microscope (SEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern revealed that the nanoparticles were face-centered cubic structure. The slight differences between extract and AgNPs in FTIR spectrum proved the formation of s-AgNPs. In that, some functional group such as hydroxyl in the extract was oxidized while reduction of silver ions. Elemental analysis displayed the silver percentage to be 75.79 %w/w. Antioxidant activity study including DPPH, ABTS•+ and FRAP assays displayed the considerable effect of s-AgNPs. Three samples of Fe−S were prepared with different hydrothermal periods (6, 12, and 18 h). X‐ray diffraction (XRD) test showed that the first produced sample contained 42.3 wt % of magnetite, 35 wt % of greigite, and 22.7 wt % of pyrite phases. The same phases were formed during the second period but with different wt % ratios. The greigite increased to 67.8 wt % by the third period, while the magnetite and pyrite phases vanished and were associated with a low ratio of the presence of pyrrhotite and FeO2. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images confirmed the formation of the nanoparticles. The increase in the hydrothermal time produced a reduction in the saturation magnetization (39.8 to 9.1) emu/g and the remanence magnetization (8 to 2.4) emu/g, and increasing in the coercivity. To assess the viability of Michigan Cancer Foundation‐7 (MCF‐7) and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HdFn) cells, a colorimetric assay for assessing cell metabolic activity (MTT) was applied to the third sample. The outcome verified iron sulfide's cytocompatibility against HdFn cells even at high concentrations and good anticancer activity against MCF‐7 cell lines. The present research is focused on synthesis of silver/gold nanoparticles using Caralluma sarkariae root extracts (CSR-AgNPs and CSR-AuNPs) used as capping/reducing agents and successfully carry out the pharmacological studies. The as-prepared CSR-AgNPs and CSR-AuNPs were systematically characterized using various analytical techniques. Moreover, the formation of CSR-AgNPs & CSR-AuNPs was confirmed by SPR values observed at 432 and 537 nm in UV–Visible spectroscopic. Morphological information of CSR-AgNPs & CSR-AuNPs were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) analysis and as-synthesized nanomaterials were spherical in nature with mean size of 20 and 22 nm, respectively. The prepared nanoparticles clearly proven that the as-prepared nanoparticles exhibit high performance efficiencies in terms of in vitro antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal activities. The wound healing activity of as-fabricated CSR-AgNPs and CSR-AuNPs were carried out separately using three different methods such as in vitro scratch assay, MTT assay, and fluorescence staining methods. To design more environmentally friendly, economical, and efficient demulsifiers for oily wastewater treatment, hydrophobic octadecylphosphonic acid (ODPA)-modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles (referred to as Fe3O4@ODPA) were prepared by condensation of hydroxyl groups between ODPA and Fe3O4 nanoparticles using the co-precipitation method. The prepared magnetite nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric/differential thermogravimetric (TG/DTG) analysis. The water contact angles (θW) of Fe3O4@ODPA nanoparticles were more than 120°, indicating hydrophobic nature, and the diameter of the obtained spherical-shaped magnetite nanoparticles was 12–15 nm. The ODPA coating amount (AO) (coating weight per gram Fe3O4) and specific surface area (SO) of Fe3O4@ODPA were 0.124–0.144 g·g−1 and 78.65–91.01 m2·g−1, respectively. To evaluate the demulsification ability, stability, and reusability, the magnetite nanoparticles were used to demulsify an n-hexane-in-water nanoemulsion. The effects of the magnetite nanoparticle dosage (CS), pH value of nanoemulsion, and NaCl or CaCl2 electrolytes on the demulsification efficiency (RO) were investigated. The RO of Fe3O4@ODPA samples was found to be higher than that of bare Fe3O4 samples (S0, ST, and SN) under all CS values. With the increase in CS, the RO of Fe3O4@ODPA samples initially increased and then approached equilibrium value at Cs = 80.0 g·L−1. A maximum RO of ~93% was achieved at CS = 100.0 g·L−1 for the Fe3O4@ODPA sample S2. The pH and two electrolytes had a minor effect on RO. The Fe3O4@ODPA nanoparticles maintained high RO even after being reused for demulsification 11 times. Recently, many studies have shown various beneficial effects of polyphenol resveratrol (Res) on human health. The most important of these effects include cardioprotective, neuroprotective, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, osteoinductive, and anti-microbial effects. Resveratrol has cis and trans isoforms, with the trans isoform being more stable and biologically active. Despite the results of in vitro experiments, resveratrol has limited potential for application in vivo due to its poor water solubility, sensitivity to oxygen, light, and heat, rapid metabolism, and therefore low bioavailability. The possible solution to overcome these limitations could be the synthesis of resveratrol in nanoparticle form. Accordingly, in this study, we have developed a simple, green solvent/non-solvent physicochemical method to synthesize stable, uniform, carrier-free resveratrol nanobelt-like particles (ResNPs) for applications in tissue engineering. UV–visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) was used to identify the trans isoform of ResNPs which remained stable for at least 63 days. The additional qualitative analysis was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), while X-ray diffraction (XRD) determined the monoclinic structure of resveratrol with a significant difference in the intensity of diffraction peaks between commercial and nano-belt form. The morphology of ResNPs was evaluated by optical microscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) that revealed a uniform nanobelt-like structure with an individual thickness of less than 1 μm. Bioactivity was confirmed using Artemia salina in vivo toxicity assay, while 2,2–diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazylhydrate (DPPH) reduction assay showed the good antioxidative potential of concentrations of 100 μg/ml and lower. Microdilution assay on several reference strains and clinical isolates showed promising antibacterial potential on Staphylococci, with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) being 800 μg/ml. Bioactive glass-based scaffolds were coated with ResNPs and characterized to confirm coating potential. The reproducible synthesis of boron nitride (BN) nano-onions by lamp ablation is reported, exclusively from hexagonal BN precursor powder in vacuum, in a one-pot procedure that is free of toxic or harmful reagents, uncomplicated, potentially scalable and rapid. A high-resolution Scanning Electron Microscope image shows a "forest" of such nano-onions as they evolve between precursor flakes. A Transmission Electron Microscope image illustrates the range of nano-onion sizes and shapes. A coarse schematic of the proposed formation mechanism is also shown. [Display omitted] We report the generation of boron nitride nano-onions (BNNOs) from pure hexagonal-BN crystallite powder in vacuum, via a one-pot, non-toxic, catalyst-free, rapid and potentially scalable high-temperature lamp ablation procedure. An array of characterization procedures revealed nanoparticle (a) shapes and sizes, morphing from polyhedral for diameters of order 101 nm to quasi-spherical at diameters of order 102 nm, and (b) composition, with a 1:1 B:N ratio while also confirming the absence of contaminants. A formation mechanism is proposed whereby BNNOs evolve from the initial thermal exfoliation of the bulk precursor powder into nano-platelets. They fold and close into hollow nano-cages that are more stable thermodynamically. Reactor temperatures were measured to be ∼ 1500–1600 K for experiments yielding the largest amounts of BNNOs. The colonies of C. glabrata were described, which morphology of isolated on sabouraud dextrose agar with chloramphenicol. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles is of great importance since they are highly involved in various medical and biological applications. The current study aims to produce Penicillium chrysogenum - derived AgNPs to be used to treat Candida glabrata. Nanoparticles were formed, the results of which was observed through UV-visible spectrophotometry. Therefore, the surface morphology and particles size of AgNPs were assessed using the scanning electron microscope (SEM). The atomic force microscopy (AFM) confirmed that the average diameter of AgNPs was 18 nm which is appropriate to be used to deliver Penicillium chrysogenum to the Candida infected cells. The antifungal activity of AgNPs against C. glabrata was investigated in the serum of 15 mice. The mice were divided into four groups was examined after 21 days. A comet assay described procedure that sensitive measurement and permits reproducible of DNA repair and DNA damage using C. glabrara infection and treatment by Penicillium chrysogenum - derived AgNPs. This combination of assay with affected C. glabrara in DNA repaired and the extensive range of obtainable fungal molecular biology apparatuses can donate to light important devices of genome. ZnO and cadmium (Cd)-doped ZnO (Zn1-xCdxO) nanoparticles with various compositions (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) were synthesized by sol-gel method. Structural, morphological, and photocatalytic properties as well as blood compatibilities of Zn1-xCdxO nanoparticles were investigated. While X-ray diffraction (XRD) applying the Rietveld refinement method was used to characterize the structural properties, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used to investigate the surface morphology. It was found that the nanoparticles up to x < 0.03 Cd concentration had single phase of ZnO hexagonal wurtzite structure. Above x ≥ 0.03 Cd concentration, two phases (ZnO and cadmium oxide (CdO)) were observed. SEM images with different magnifications revealed the dense, quasi-spherical, and agglomerated morphology of Zn1-xCdxO nanoparticles. The elemental compositions of Zn1-xCdxO nanoparticles have also been studied by EDX analysis. The photocatalytic activities and blood compatibilities of Zn1-xCdxO nanoparticles were studied by the photocatalytic degradation tests of crystal violet (CV) and hemolysis tests and respectively. In the photocatalytic activity tests, two samples Zn0.90Cd0.10O and Zn0.80Cd0.80O stood out with photodegradation percentages of 69.9% and 72.8%. Among the Cd-doped nanoparticles, the Zn0.40Cd0.60O sample showed the highest blood compatibility with the weakest photocatalytic performance (degradation percentage; 32.2%). The underlying objective of this study was to synthesize [gum ghatti-cl-poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-acrylic acid)/CoFe2O4] nanocomposite hydrogels using free radical polymerization method. Gum ghatti (Gg) as a biopolymer, N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPA) and acrylic acid (AA) as a monomer, ammonium persulphate (APS) and N,N-methylene bis-acrylamide (MBA) were used as initiator and cross-linking agents, respectively. The characterization of as prepared gels was performed by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction techniques. The present study focuses on the swelling behaviour and rheological investigations of the hydrogels. Different tests were performed on nanocomposite prepared particle gels to investigate the effect of CoFe2O4 nanoparticle content (0–60 mg) concentration on network structure, swelling, and mechanical behaviour of the gels. The Gg‑cl‑P(NIPA-co-AA)/CoFe2O4 with 30 mg CoFe2O4 exhibited a superior swelling ratio. Loading of 30 mg CoFe2O4 into Gg‑cl‑P(NIPA-co-AA matrix resulted in capable mechanical stability. All the experiments illustrate that the Gg‑cl‑P(NIPA-co-AA)/CoFe2O4 nanocomposite hydrogel is the best candidate for its use as flocculants and absorbents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For commercial civil applications of laminated composite material, characterizations to forecast the interlaminar shear behavior and viscoelastic response across a wide temperature range are essential. In this study, the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of glass/epoxy (GE) composites dispersed with binary nanofillers nanosilica‐multilayer graphene (NS‐MLG) and nanosilica‐nanoclay (NS‐NC) was analyzed at an in‐situ testing temperature of 20, 70, and 110°C. Further, the viscoelastic property of the composites was studied using a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer (DMTA) in the temperature range of 35–165°C. An increase in the ILSS value of around 9% and 10% was observed at room temperature for GE/MLG‐NS and GE/NC‐NS, respectively, compared to control GE composites. In contrast, the trend was seen to change at higher temperatures. There was a slight decrement in the storage modulus (E′) of GE/MLG‐NS and GE/NC‐NS composites in the glassy region compared to control GE composites. The mean Tg of the GE composite (control) was nearly 107.3°C when the E′ decline onset temperature was taken into account, but after the addition of MLG‐NS, it was 10.1°C below. The mean Tg of GE/NC‐NS was determined to be 106.3°C, and in the glass transition as well as rubbery regions, it was observed to compete with the E′ value of the control GE composites. Fractography was done using micrographs obtained from environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM). In this study, the co-precipitation approach was used to make nanostructured nickel oxide (NiO) commencing with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and nickel (II) chloride hexahydrate (NiCl2 ⋅ 6H2O). Through the use of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopes (SEM), UV-visible (UV–Vis) absorption, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) imaging, structural and optical studies were investigated. FTIR, photoluminescence (PL), cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies are taken. The synthesized nanoparticles were annealed at 3 0 0 ∘ C and 4 0 0 ∘ C. The face-centered cubic (FCC) structure of the NiO and highly crystallized nanoparticles were revealed by XRD investigations. Observation of FTIR spectra validated the composition of functional groups. Scanning electron microscopy image shows the average size is 24 nm. NiO optical band gap at 3 0 0 ∘ C (3.37 eV) and 4 0 0 ∘ C (2.7 eV) is revealed from UV studies. From CV graph, the sample annealing at 3 0 0 ∘ C and 4 0 0 ∘ C the specific capacitance was 543.6 and 519.8 F/g, respectively. BACKGROUND: Chitosan (CS) and tripolyphosphate (TPP) can be combined in the development of a material with synergistic properties and promising potential for the conservation of food products. In this study, ellagic acid (EA) and anti‐inflammatory peptide (FPL)‐loaded CS nanoparticles (FPL/EA NPs) were prepared using the ionic gelation method and optimal preparation conditions were obtained through a single factor design. RESULTS: The synthesized nanoparticles (NPs) were characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Nanoparticles were spherical, with an average size of 308.33 ± 4.61 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.254, a zeta potential of +31.7 ± 0.08 mV, and a high encapsulation capacity (22.16 ± 0.79%). An in vitro release study showed that EA/FPL had a sustainable release from FPL/EA NPs. The stability of the FPL/EA NPs was evaluated for 90 days at 0, 25, and 37 °C. Significant anti‐inflammatory activity of FPL/EA NPs was verified by nitric oxide (NO) and tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α) reduction. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were prepared by the sol–gel method and the structural, morphological, and optical properties were investigated at different sintering temperatures of 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900°C. A tetragonal structure of anatase, mixed (anatase–rutile), and rutile phases are observed in the X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Pure anatase phase formation occurred at 500°C, whereas anatase-to-rutile phase transformation began at 600°C, and reaching complete conversion to rutile at 800°C. The average crystallite size increased from 23 to 34 nm for anatase and 38 to 62 nm for the rutile when sintering temperature increased from 500 to 900°C. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) result presented the increase of grain size (25–100 nm) with increasing the sintering temperature. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra demonstrated the presence of TiO2 vibrational bonds in all samples. The optical bandgaps of the sintered TiO2 nanoparticles decreased with rising sintering temperature. Photoluminescence spectra exhibited three characteristic peaks centered at 380, 450, and 550 nm. The emission intensity increased with increasing the sintering temperature. The Mie analysis was also studied to calculate scattering cross-section, forward scattering, and asymmetry for different grain sizes. The results showed that by increasing the nanoparticle diameters, the peaks of all spectra are redshifted for larger grain sizes and cross-section peaks shift to high values. In this study, the sintering temperature is observed to have a strong influence on crystalline phase transformation, microstructure, and optical properties of TiO2 nanoparticles. This paper focuses on the evaluation of the strength development and microstructure of nano-calcium carbonate (CaCO3) cemented paste backfill experimentally cured under isothermal conditions at room temperature and non-isothermal conditions in the field. A series of mechanical (uniaxial compressive strength, UCS) and microstructural (thermogravimetric, mercury intrusion porosimetry, scanning electron microscope) tests as well as monitoring experiments are experimentally conducted on cemented paste backfill (CPB) specimens with and without nano-calcium carbonate and cured at different times and under isothermal or non-isothermal conditions. The results show that the addition of nano-CaCO3 particles to CPB significantly improves its mechanical strength, irrespective of the thermal curing conditions (isothermal, field non-isothermal conditions). However, the impact of nano-CaCO3 particles on the increase in strength of CPB is only effective or significant at the early ages (curing time≤7 days). It is also found that the higher temperatures improve the accelerating effect of nano-CaCO3 much more than they accelerate the PCI hydration reactions in the first 3 days. Moreover, it is also found the sulphate ions present in the natural gold tailings negatively affect the mechanical performance of nano-CPB and reduced the accelerating effect of nano-CaCO3 due to sulphate attacks. Photocatalytic degradation of methyl red dye using Mn(5%) doped CdS nanoparticles was studied. Mn doped CdS nanoparticles was synthesized by microwave assisted solvo thermal method where the chemicals used wereCadmium Acetate [(CH3COO)2Cd, H2O], Manganese Chloride [MnCl2.2H2O] and Sodium Sulfide [Na2S.xH2O]. X-Ray diffraction(XRD) analysis was carried out in order to analyze the structural dimensions of the synthesized nanoparticles and the average crystallite size has been calculated at the full width half maximum (FWHM) of the diffraction peaks using Debye-Scherer equation and it was found to be around2.3nm. FTIR spectra analysis was done in order to analyze different functional and vibrational groups present in the as synthesized sample of Mn doped CdSnanoparticles. The morphology of sample wasstudied by scanning electron microscope. The aqueous solution of methyl red[C15H15N3O2] has been prepared and was mixed with the as synthesized Mn doped CdSnanoparticles and was exposed for photocatalytic degradation using 100 W bulb. UV-visible spectra of the light irradiated methyl red solutions were studied at different interval of time and no red shift was observed with increase of exposure time. The intensity of the absorption peak was also found to be reduced with the increasing time interval. The photo degradation of methyl red dye was observed up to 90% at the exposure time of 90 minutes. This study investigated the friction and wear properties of high‐strength polyacrylonitrile (HS‐PAN)‐, high‐modulus polyacrylonitrile (HM‐PAN)‐, and high‐modulus pitch (HM‐pitch)‐based carbon fiber‐reinforced polymer matrix composites (CFRPs) with silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles. The fiber orientation of the CFRP specimens was set as 8‐ply unidirectional laminates, denoted as [0]8. Ball‐on‐disk (cyclic) wear testing was accompanied by laser, digital, and scanning electron microscope observations. For the HS‐PAN CFRP, the coefficient of friction and wear resistance were the highest among the HM‐PAN and HM‐pitch CFRPs and wear resistance was improved by the addition of SiC‐nanoparticles. Furthermore, there was no significant enhancement of wear resistance for the SiC‐nanoparticle‐filled and nanoparticle‐unfilled HM‐PAN CFRP. This paper reports on the ohmic contact formed by the conductive glass layer found at the interface of Ag/Si contacts on lowly doped emitter silicon solar cells due to the presence of semimetal nanoparticles. The scanning electron microscopy and scanning transmission electron microscope analyses revealed an interface glass layer (IGL) thickness of greater than 380 nm, which was enriched with micro-sized alloys composed of semimetal nanoparticles. This IGL was conductive as confirmed by conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM). The presence of these semimetal nanoparticles, identified as Ag 2 Te and PbTe, was both endowed with low bandgap energies as confirmed by Raman spectroscopy and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. These semimetal nanoparticles were found only in the IGL and formed a "bridge" to connect the Ag gridline and Si emitter for carrier transport. Based on the modified Fowler–Nordheim tunneling process, the modeled C-AFM I–V characteristic curve showed a barrier height of 0.1 eV corresponding to an IGL thickness of only 18 nm. Thus, the carrier transport mechanism "through the conductive bridge" was formed by the semimetal nanoparticles embedded in the IGL. Therefore, the high conductivity of the interface glass led to the specific contact resistance to be independent of the emitter peak doping concentration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to examine the impact of the direct and indirect mixing techniques on the dispersion and homogeneity of magnesium oxide (MgO) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) mixed with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). NPs were mixed with PMMA powder directly (non-ethanol-assisted) and indirectly (ethanol-assisted) with the aid of ethanol as solvent. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to evaluate the dispersion and homogeneity of MgO and Ag NPs within the PMMA-NPs nanocomposite matrix. Prepared discs of PMMA-MgO and PMMA-Ag nanocomposite were analyzed for dispersion and agglomeration by Stereo microscope. XRD showed that the average crystallite size of NPs within PMMA-NP nanocomposite powder was smaller in the case of ethanol-assisted mixing compared to non-ethanol-assisted mixing. Furthermore, EDX and SEM revealed good dispersion and homogeneity of both NPs on PMMA particles with ethanol-assisted mixing compared to the non-ethanol-assisted one. Again, the PMMA-MgO and PMMA-Ag nanocomposite discs were found to have better dispersion and no agglomeration with ethanol-assisted mixing when compared to the non-ethanol-assisted mixing technique. Ethanol-assisted mixing of MgO and Ag NPs with PMMA powder obtained better dispersion, better homogeneity, and no agglomeration of NPs within the PMMA-NP matrix. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the development of bacterial resistance towards antibiotics has the potential to limit the effectiveness of antibiotics in the treatment of infectious diseases, it is necessary to try different strategies to provide alternatives. In order to solve the problems, this work used silver nanoparticles‐loaded polydopamine‐modified montmorillonite (AgNP/PDA−Mt) to cope with the infection of the gram‐negative bacteria Escherichia. Coli and the gram‐positive bacteria Staphylococcus. aureus. Polydopamine‐modified montmorillonite (PDA−Mt) was used to reduce silver ions into silver nanoparticles through the hydroxyl groups of polydopamine. The chemical properties and morphology of AgNP/PDA−Mt were analyzed by X‐ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), etc. Also, its antimicrobial property has been investigated. This study focused on investigating the possibility of using different ratios (5, 10, 15 mass%) of recycled alum sludge (RAS) as partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), to contribute to solving the problems encountered by cement production as well as stockpiling of large quantities of water-treated sludge waste. MnFe2O4 spinel nanoparticles (NMFs) were used to elaborate the mechanical characteristics and durability of different OPC-RAS blends. The outcomes of compressive strength, bulk density, water absorption, and stability against firing tests fastened the suitability of utilization of RAS waste for replacing OPC (maximum limit 10%). The inclusion of different doses of NMFs nanoparticles (0.5, 1 and 2 mass %) within OPC–RAS pastes, motivates the configuration of hardened nanocomposites with improved physico-mechanical characteristics and stability against firing. Composite made from 90% OPC–10% RAS–0.5% NMFs presented the best characteristics and consider the optimal choice for general construction applications.
