Hirsch's h index is becoming the standard measure of an individual's research accomplishments. The aggregation of individuals' measures is also the basis for global measures at institutional or national levels. To investigate whether the h index can be reliably computed through alternative sources of citation records, the Web of Science (WoS), PsycINFO and Google Scholar (GS) were used to collect citation records for known publications of four Spanish psychologists. Compared with WoS, PsycINFO included a larger percentage of publication records, whereas GS outperformed WoS and PsycINFO in this respect. Compared with WoS, PsycINFO retrieved a larger number of citations in unique areas of psychology, but it retrieved a smaller number of citations in areas that are close to statistics or the neurosciences, whereas GS retrieved the largest numbers of citations in all cases. Incorrect citations were scarce in Wos (0.3%), more prevalent in PsycINFO (1.1%), and overwhelming in GS (16.5%). All platforms retrieved unique citations, the largest set coming from GS. WoS and PsycINFO cover distinct areas of psychology unevenly, thus applying different penalties on the h index of researches working in different fields. The present paper proposes a new and intuitive model to evaluate the utilitarian e-service quality on textile and fashion B2C websites in Spain. The relevant variables to include into this model have been validated through an in-depth literature review and a reliability study based on an empirical investigation. Among the several methodologies used to develop the model, the paper proves that fuzzy inference systems (FIS) have numerous advantages. The following are particularly relevant: the ease to manage non-linear behaviours and the intuitive way of incorporating knowledge to evaluate B2C websites. This knowledge can stem both: from the expert know-how or from the evaluation of consumer satisfaction on these websites. The knowledge is made explicit through if-then rules which work with linguistic-type concepts −agreed upon by experts, closer to the human reasoning mode. The importance of e-commerce continues to grow in retail, providing companies with a tool to improve commercial and marketing strategies. In this context, understanding this distribution channel becomes a fundamental matter for both managers and academics. This paper examines determinants of online fashion retailing and proposes a model of the formation of online purchase intention. To this end, a total of 433 individuals were surveyed. Based on the hypothesised model developed through a detailed review of the literature on the constructs proposed, a set of measurement items was adapted to the context of this research, and a 30-item questionnaire was implemented. A regression analysis of latent variables was used based on the optimisation technique of the partial least squares. The results indicate that the key factors influencing online fashion purchase intention are perceived value, trust, and fashion innovativeness, whereas time saving and perceived security are the main antecedents predicting perceived value and trust, respectively. Electronic innovativeness was proven to not have the influence expected on online shopping, which could be explained by the fact that e-commerce is not an innovation any longer. One of the most outstanding challenges that the hotel sector has ever had to endure has come in the form of the predominant position that the so-called Online Travel Agencies (OTA) have managed to garner in recent history, thus radically modifying the electronic distribution chain as we know it. The effective application of the "merchant" model, has, in turn, obliged hoteliers to pay high commission rates, while increasingly losing control over their inventories and final sales prices, due to potential customers being increasingly compelled to perform their purchases through means of on-line intermediaries. The present paper aims at analysing the relation between the hotel sector and the OTAs, so as to successfully pinpoint the various strategies the former can undertake so as to mitigate their dependence to the latter. Further along the document, a study will be laid out, revolving around the degree of utilization of aforesaid strategies, as well as the most common business model and the companies most requested by Spanish hotel chains. This paper analyzes the development of mobile Internet messaging and the opportunities it presents for journalism in Spain. It discusses whether or not a role will emerge for a specialized online journalist and identifies pure journalists and eproduction journalists as the basic roles in an ideal online media production scenario. SMS (Short Message Service), WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and MMS (Multimedia Message Service) technologies are discussed as journalistic tools. The authors suggest that new media enable new formats, strategies and products that need to be designed by journalists in collaboration with technical and design staff. This position is supported on the case study of El día en cinco imágenes (Today in five pictures), an MMS news service offered by La Vanguardia (a leading Spanish newspaper) and Amena (a Spanish mobile company). Although new technologies pose new challenges for professional newsmaking, the article criticizes technological deterministic approaches to online journalism and argues that the main criteria of traditional journalism are still valid in the new media landscape. The paper, which is part of a parallel study between Mexico and Spain, analyzes the environmental information requests that are made by users in the Spanish public sector bodies. Furthermore, a webcrawler, which was designed for this purpose, analyzes many parameters of the information displayed on the website of 30 environmental public bodies such as the number of documents, providers, types of environmental information, document formats ... Results highlight the use of metatags instead of metadata and descriptor analysis shows a lack of relationship between the requests and the descriptors which are used to identify such information on the Web. This paper aims to describe the factors that explain the electronic service quality in the case of the postal operators sector and how this affects customer satisfaction. In an increasingly competitive environment, postal operators, such as the Post Office Company in Spain, need to know the determinants of the success of their online distribution channels. Using data from 415 answers of Correos.es website clients and a confirmatory factor analysis, the dimensions of the quality of electronic services in this context and its effect on online satisfaction were determined. The main objective of this paper is to show the process map for introducing the Accessibility Management System in the Saragossa city council web service. This map is a requirement of the Spanish Association for Standards and Certification (Aenor) for the "N" certification of ICT Accessibility, which guarantees users that an internet page is accessible. All public sector organizations are required by law to achieve this norm and display the "N" mark of certification.To identify the processes and design the process map, an expert reviewed documents and interviewed managers and staff. The processes were classified into strategic, key and support categories and so identified on the process map, which indicates sequences and the relationships between inputs and tasks. Recent cases of corruption prove the need to keep paying attention to an ancient but changing phenomenon. An evolution can be observed in this complex problem. First of all, the revolution in new technologies has not only had beneficial effects. Crime has also benefited from these technologies, since not only the law enforcement agencies in charge of corruption use them, but also the offenders. This makes it more difficult to detect acts of corruption, turning such crime into a complex reality. Another characteristic of the 21th century in this area is the awareness of the negative effects of corruption at the economic, political and social levels. A consensus has been reached about the seriousness of the problem. The legal regulation of corruption has also evolved. In the near past, acts of corruption were categorized as crimes only at the domestic level. As an answer to the development of transnational corruption networks, it was only a decade ago that international law instruments began to be used to fight corruption. Most of them were conventions, at a regional or universal level, where states agreed to change some aspects of their national legislation in order to fight corruption in the most effective way. This is why it is so important to establish a follow-up mechanism to control how states are fulfilling their international duties. This paper summarizes the most important conventions against corruption, specially relating to the follow-up mechanisms established by them, focusing on Spain's case and its evaluation by GRECO --the group of states against corruption of the Council of Europe. Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of an experimental intervention based on standard diet recommendations plus free Smartphone application (app) and wearable device for weight loss, compared with the standard diet intervention alone, in primary care patients aged 18 years or older who are overweight or obese. Methods/design: Multicentre randomized, controlled clinical trial. Location: Primary health care centres in the city of Tarragona and surrounding areas. Subjects: 70 primary care patients, aged 18 years or older, with body mass index of 25 g/m2 or greater who wish to lose weight. Description of the intervention: 12 months of standard diet recommendations without (n = 35) or with (n = 35) assistance of a free Smartphone app that allows the participant to maintain a record of dietary intake and a bracelet monitor that records physical activity. The outcomes will be weight loss at 12 months (primary outcome), changes in physical activity and cardiometabolic risk factors, frequency of app use, and participant satisfaction after 12 months. Discussion: The results of our study will offer evidence of the effectiveness of an intervention using one of the most popular free apps and wearable devices in achieving weight loss among patients who are overweight or obese. If these new technologies are proven effective in our population, they could be readily incorporated into primary care interventions promoting healthy weight. The open design and study characteristics make it impossible for the participants and researchers to be blinded to study group assignment. This article explores the growth of online mobilizations using data from the indignados (outraged) movement in Spain, which emerged under the influence of the revolution in Egypt and as a precursor to the global Occupy mobilizations. The data track Twitter activity around the protests that took place in May 2011, which led to the formation of camp sites in dozens of cities all over the country and massive daily demonstrations during the week prior to the elections of May 22. We reconstruct the network of tens of thousands of users and monitor their message activity for a month (April 25, 2011, to May 25, 2011). Using both the structure of the network and levels of activity in message exchange, we identify four types of users and analyze their role in the growth of the protest. Drawing from theories of online activism and research on information diffusion in networks, this article centers on the following two questions: How does protest information spread in online networks? And how do different actors contribute to the growth of activity? The article aims to inform the theoretical debate on whether digital technologies are changing the logic of collective action and to provide evidence of how new media facilitates the emergence of massive offline mobilizations. The objectives were to assess the quality of websites in Spanish public hospitals by means of a validated system, also including measures of readability and accessibility. A scale was designed and validated to assess the quality (citizen-orientated) of the websites of hospitals. The quality of the of public hospital websites was evaluated by means of the results of the above evaluation scale, analysis of the readability of their contents, and the results of the accessibility test. The validated scale contains 73 elements or attributes. Analysis of the concordance of website evaluations shows average assessment values of between 0.80 and 0.81, which confirms a high degree of agreement among jurors. Twenty per cent of the attributes do not appear on any websites, and 14% are present on all of them. The average mark of the hospitals is 43%. The marks given for readability of tests show that it is satisfactory for 64% hospitals. None of the websites visited fulfilled the requirements necessary to be considered as accessible. The quality of the websites analysed by means of this scale varies from 23% to 62%. Differences in the size or location of the hospitals do not explain this high level of variability. The results suggest that the readability of websites should be improved and that such sites should be accessible to people with disabilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
