The hydroisomerization of n-alkanes is an important step in the production of high-quality bio-aviation kerosene. A SAPO-11 molecular sieve was synthesized using the hydrothermal synthesis method, and a 0.5 wt% Pt/SAPO-11 catalyst was prepared using the impregnation method. The crystal phase, pore structure, acidity, and morphology of Pt/SAPO-11 were characterized via X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption-desorption, NH3 temperature-programmed desorption, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy, respectively. The hydroisomerization performance of the catalyst was evaluated with bio-n-hexadecane as the model compound. The results showed that temperature and space velocity had significant effects. Under the conditions of 340 °C, 1.5 MPa, WHSV = 1.0 h−1, V(H2): V(n-hexadecane) = 1000:1, the conversion of n-hexadecane and the selectivity of i-hexadecane were 81.8% and 86.5%, respectively. Vegetable oils and their derivatives are of great interest because of their abundance and renewability. This paper prepares nonanal (N) and methyl 9‐oxonanoate (M) from methyl epoxystearate (ME) with WO3∙0.33H2O, WO3∙H2O, and WO3∙2H2O as catalysts and H2O2 as the oxidant without the use of organic solvent. The reaction temperature, catalyst amount, H2O2 amount, and reaction time effects on ME conversion and N/M yield are investigated. The results show that WO3∙H2O has the best catalytic performance. The optimal reaction conditions are: reaction temperature 60 °C, reaction time 40 min, ME/H2O2/WO3∙H2O molar ratio 1/1.2/0.4, under which the ME conversion and N/M yield reach 95% and 70%, respectively. WO3∙nH2O reacts with H2O2 to form soluble tungsten anions, resulting in severe tungsten loss. Al‐MCM‐41 materials with different silicon to aluminum molar ratios are added to the reaction system as adsorbents to recover the catalyst by effective adsorption of tungsten anions. The adsorption performance improves as the Si/Al ratio decreases, however, the ME conversion and N/M yield decrease. Thus, 50 is the most suitable Si/Al ratio. The ME conversion and N/M yield can still reach 90% and 60% after four times of use. Practical applications: The nonanal has a natural fragrance and can be used in the cosmetic industry as well as in the preparation of bio‐based surfactants. The methyl 9‐oxonanoate can be converted into polymer monomers by hydrogenation or amination. The hydrodynamic cavitation multiphase reactor (HCMR) is emerging as a promising alternative for the intensification of liquid–liquid heterogeneous reactions, but research on HCMR modeling is lacking. In this article, an HCMR model was developed using Prileschajew epoxidation as the model system. First, based on experimental measurements of oil/water two‐phase flow downstream of hydrodynamic cavitation devices, semiempirical correlations were proposed to describe the droplet size and droplet size distribution (DSD) as functions of flow conditions and geometry parameters. Then, with boundary conditions calculated by the DSD correlation, a droplet dynamics simulation in a reaction tank was performed by computational fluid dynamics coupled with population balance model to obtain the two‐phase interfacial area. Finally, the acquired reactor model was substituted into an overall kinetic model, to simulate the epoxidation reaction in HCMR. Epoxidized oils are eco‐friendly plasticizers, which are industrially produced through the epoxidation reaction in a formic acid‐hydrogen peroxide autocatalyzed system. The fundamental knowledge to describe the phase equilibrium of systems after epoxidation reaction is lacking, which is crucial for the design of the purification facilities. This work reported experimental data for the liquid–liquid equilibrium of three systems, i.e., epoxidized fatty acid methyl esters + formic acid + water, epoxidized fatty acid 2‐ethylhexyl esters + formic acid + water, and epoxidized soybean oil + formic acid + water, in the temperature range (303.15–348.15) K under atmospheric pressure. The results indicated that the liquid–liquid equilibrium constant of formic acid in the systems followed the order of epoxidized fatty acid 2‐ethylhexyl esters > epoxidized fatty acid methyl esters > epoxidized soybean oil. Moreover, the obtained experimental data were correlated using nonrandom two liquid (NRTL) and universal quasi chemical (UNIQUAC) models. The maximum root mean square deviation (RMSD) values as low as 0.0052 and 0.0263 were estimated using the NRTL and UNIQUAC model, respectively. The creation of a catalytic method that possesses high activity and effective reusability for the oxidative cleavage of vegetable oils and their derivatives to prepare bio-based oxo-chemicals is a challenge. This work introduces a “release and capture” catalytic system consisting of H2O2, WO3 and mesoporous SnO2. This system was intended to promote catalyst reusability in the oxidative cleavage of methyl 9,10-epoxystearate (ME) to the corresponding aldehydes. No organic solvent was used in the reaction. The reaction temperature, molar ratio of ME/WO3/H2O2, and reaction time were optimized to 70 °C, 1/0.017/1.3, and 20 min, respectively. Under these conditions, complete ME conversion and 80% aldehyde yield were obtained. The hot filtration experiment and ICP-MS analysis confirmed the leaching of tungsten. Mesoporous SnO2 did not affect the ME conversion and aldehyde yield, but effectively adsorbed the leached tungsten. At present, the utilization of grease has attracted more and more attention. This article presents a simple method that efficiently cleaves methyl oleate‐derived methyl 9,10‐epoxystearate (a) to give high yields of methyl 9‐oxononanoate (d) with nonanal (c) as co‐product. A WO3/MCM‐41 catalyst is prepared via direct mixed‐gel synthesis. The catalyst is tested in the oxidative cleavage of a to produce d which can be used as a polymer precursor or an important feedstock. The effects of WO3 loading, temperature, time, H2O2/a molar ratio, catalyst/a weight ratio, and t‐BuOH/a weight ratio on the a conversion and d yield are examined using single‐factor experiments. The optimal reaction conditions are determined by orthogonal experiments. The optimal WO3 loading, temperature, time, H2O2/a molar ratio, catalyst/a weight ratio, and t‐BuOH/a weight ratio are 35%, 80 °C, 20 min, 1.3, 0.04, and 0.5, respectively. Under these conditions, the a conversion and d yield reach 99.4 and 78.4%, respectively. In addition, the catalyst shows no significant decrease in activity after being reused three times. Moreover, the reaction mechanism is studied based on the product distribution over time. Practical Applications: Few studies on methyl 9,10‐epoxystearate used as the raw material to give methyl 9‐oxononanoate and nonanal are found. Because the ethylene oxide bond is more unstable than the carbon–carbon double bond, the oxidative cleavage of methyl 9,10‐epoxystearate is easier than cleavage of methyl oleate that allows the oxidative cleavage to be done under milder conditions. Methyl 9‐oxononanoate can be converted to a monomer of high‐value polymers and is also an important feedstock in the production of chemicals. The co‐product nonanal is a natural spice which can be used in the fragrance industry. The results show that the reaction time is short and methyl 9‐oxononanoate yield is high under mild reaction conditions. The method in this study can also be widely used in other oxidative cleavage reactions of epoxides. Abstract: Owing to the decrease of global oil price, development of downstream value‐added products is important to biodiesel industry. In this study, we used palmitic acid methyl ester (PAME) as a starting material to produce 2‐ethylhexyl palmitate (2‐EHP), an environmentally friendly biolubricant product, which was derived from the transesterification of fatty acid methyl esters and long chain fatty alcohols. Conventional synthetic routes of 2‐EHP have disadvantages, including high catalyst price, low conversion efficiency, and pollution issues. To solve these problems, in situ transesterification of PAME with 2‐ethylhexanol (2‐EH) was conducted over unsupported potassium carbonate as heterogeneous catalyst. The optimal reaction temperature, 2‐EH to PAME molar ratio, and catalyst to PAME mass ratio were 180 °C, 3:1, and 3.0 wt%, respectively. The PAME conversion reached up to 100% within 1 hour under the optimal conditions. In addition, a kinetic model describing the experimental data over a temperature range of 160–180 °C was developed. The dependence of kinetic rate constant (k) on temperature was evaluated, and the activation energy (Ea) for the transesterification of PAME with 2‐EH was calculated to be 57.04 kJ mol−1. In this study, the mass transfer and reaction kinetics of soybean oil epoxidation using concentrated hydrogen peroxide in a formic acid-autocatalyzed reaction system were studied in detail. Studying the mass transfer of formic acid showed that the influence of reactant diffusion near the interface is eliminated when the stirring rate is > 120 rpm in a double-stirred cell, and the mass transfer rate decreases greatly with the conversion of double bonds and a decrease of reaction temperature. A temperature increase has little impact on the equilibrium of formic acid in the oil/water system, while an increase of epoxidized soybean oil significantly increases the value of the partition coefficient of formic acid. Another important aspect in the kinetic study is the decomposition of performic acid, which can cause the reduction of H2O2 and formic acid during the reaction. Finally, a biphasic model, which considers all reactions in oil and aqueous phases, the equilibrium and mass transfer of reagents and products between the phases, and the evolution of proton concentrations with time, was developed to describe the epoxidation process. Chemical absorption was employed for the harmless treatment of sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2) in the simulated residual fumigant. SO2F2 was absorbed by sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution in a packed column. Effects of spray density, gas flow rate, concentration of NaOH solution, and inlet SO2F2 volume concentration on SO2F2 removal efficiency were investigated at room temperature. It was found that SO2F2 could be removed completely when inlet SO2F2 volume concentration, spray density, gas flow rate, and NaOH concentration were 0.50%, 12 m3/(m2 · h), 0.12 m3/h, and 0.68 mol/L, respectively. According to the two-film theory, a mathematical model based on Onda correlations was developed to describe the removal efficiency of SO2F2. Comparison between the experimental data and the calculated data proved that the predictability of the proposed model was within the maximum deviation of 8.0%. This work described a general strategy to enhance a typical organic-aqueous heterogeneous green oxidation reaction by introducing surface tunable magnetic nanoparticles into liquids to form a controllable Pickering emulsion. We synthesized cross-linked polystyrene (PS)-covered Fe3O4 nanoparticles grafted with different N-alkyl imidazoles and systematically discussed the effect of surface properties on the formation of emulsions. By loading such particles, the dichloromethane-water-based 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl-mediated Montanari oxidation system was converted from the unstable millimeter-scale dispersion into a stable micrometer-scale emulsion, which significantly reduced the reactant transfer distance and resulted in a significantly high overall reaction rate. This reaction efficiency is elucidated in terms of unique properties inherent in an emulsion, including the self-assembly of Fe3O4/PS and Fe3O4/PS[im-C n]Cl ( n=1, 4, 6, and 10) nanoparticles, well ensuring a large specific surface area of the water-oil interface. This study demonstrated the use of a magnetic superhydrophobic polymer nanosphere cage derived from a Pickering emulsion as a framework for miceller catalysis in biphasic media. We designed this system through the covalent stabilisation of active site (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl)-grafted amphiphiles onto the magnetic hydrophobic core to form a micelle-like architecture and used it as a Pickering emulsifier to develop a new kind of micelle-catalysed biphasic system. The catalysis results reveal that these fixed micelle-tethered 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl catalysts demonstrate much higher activity than their soluble counterparts in the biphasic Montanari oxidation of alcohols, which could be due to the unique properties of Pickering emulsion and miceller catalysis. In addition, the excellent magnetic response ensures the efficient recycling of the catalyst by magnetic decantation. The catalyst can be recycled at least 10 times without significant loss of activity or degradation of magnetic susceptibility. Abstract: Sweet sorghum is a high-yielding energy crop that leaves a large amount of lignocellulosic residues after the sugar fraction fermented to ethanol. Here, we developed a biphasic kinetic model for the dilute sulfuric acid-catalyzed hemicellulose hydrolysis of sweet sorghum bagasse at temperatures of 110–150°C, and we then calculated the kinetic parameters for xylose production and furfural decomposition. The results indicated that elevated reaction temperatures promote the hydrolysis of hemicellulose and the degradation of xylose. The xylose yield increased in proportion to reaction time in the initial stages and then declined due to the degradation of xylose to furfural. The pre-exponential factors for the ‘easy-to-hydrolyze’ fraction, the ‘hard-to-hydrolyze’ fraction of hemicellulose and xylose degradation were 3.53×106, 1.80×105 and 0.62min−1, respectively, and the activation energies were 60.7, 58.1 and 14.5kJ/mol, respectively. The ideal hydrolysis condition for xylose production was 140°C for 50min, under which the xylose yield reached 60% of hemicellulose weight. The degradation of methylene blue (MB) using an upgraded dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor was investigated in this paper. Air plasma was generated in the glass bead packed bed in the reactor, which was propagated into MB solution through a microporous diffuser plate. Microdischarge phenomenon can be observed on the interface of MB solution and the diffuser plate, where plasma active species were generated. The effects of air flow rate, initial solution concentration, initial solution pH, and initial solution conductivity on MB degradation were examined. Experimental results indicated that the proposed plasma reactor was effective for MB degradation. No obvious change in MB degradation efficiency was obtained for solution with various initial pH and conductivities, which suggested the potential of the reactor in actual wastewater treatment. The possible mechanism of the generation of plasma active species for MB degradation was proposed. In addition, the total organic carbon removal and chemical oxidation demand removal after 30 min treatment were 38.5% and 48.3%, which was higher than that obtained by ozone. The energy yield for MB degradation reached up to 9.3 g/kWh. Finally, a possible degradation pathway of MB solution was proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Fatty acid 2-ethylhexyl esters are used for the eco-friendly production of biolubricant. There are several reports on their synthesis, but thermodynamics and transport data of these compounds are lacking. Herein, density and viscosity of palmitic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester, stearic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester and soya oil 2-ethylhexyl esters in the temperature range of T = (298.18–368.15) K at atmospheric pressure were measured and the vapor pressure in the temperature range of T = (476.95–500.85, 477.05–498.05, 477.75–500.05) K was determined. The obtained experimental data were correlated using temperature-dependence correlation equations, and the correlation coefficients of all the equations were over 0.999. In order to examine the reliability of the data, the GCVOL group method was used to evaluate densities for these fatty acid 2-ethylhexyl esters with the maximum relative deviation of −1.34%. The experimental viscosity data of synthesized 2-ethylhexyl esters were compared with those of lauric acid 2-ethylhexyl ester, palmitic acid n-octyl ester and oleic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester from previous studies. In industry, mass transfer limitation is a major and widespread problem in most of vegetable oil epoxidation reactors. To improve the quality of products and the efficiency of production, it is essential to understand the law of mass transfer in the epoxidation reaction system. In present work, epoxidation of fatty acid methyl esters with performic acid generated in situ was studied in a stirred vessel at 50–80 °C. At first, the Sauter mean diameter (D 32 ) was determined and correlated, the correlation can predict the D 32 evolution of the reaction. Then, individual experiments were performed to separately determine the intrinsic kinetic parameters and the mass transfer parameters. Finally, a macroscopic kinetic model was developed, which can well describe the effect of droplet size on the reaction. The solubilities of sulfuryl fluoride (SO 2 F 2 ) in propylene carbonate (PC), tributyl phosphate (TBP) and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) was measured by isochoric saturation method at the pressure of up to 600 kPa and temperatures ranging from (293.15 to 313.15) K. Results showed that SO 2 F 2 solubility increased with increasing pressure and decreased with increasing temperature in the three solvents, and the dissolution of SO 2 F 2 in the solvents was a physical process. Moreover, Henry’s law constants and thermodynamic properties such as standard Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy changes of SO 2 F 2 solvation were further calculated according to the experimental solubility data. The solubility of SO 2 F 2 in these three solvents followed the order of TBP > PC > NMP. The results illustrated that TBP possessed the potentiality to capture SO 2 F 2 among the present absorbents due to the relatively large solubility and low absorption enthalpy for SO 2 F 2 . Most of the plasticizers used during poly (vinyl chloride) processing are typically toxic petroleum-based phthalates. Furthermore, large amount of edible oils become waste all over the world, fortunately, waste cooking oils have the potential to be an economic alternative for synthesizing different biomaterials. This study aimed to synthesis an improved properties and cost competitiveness cleaner bio-plasticizer using waste cooking oil methyl esters as staring raw materials. In this paper, waste cooking oil methyl esters were structurally modified i.e., transesterification and epoxidation reaction, to prepare epoxide waste cooking oil 2-ethylhexyl esters. The in-situ epoxidation was mainly studied by response surface methodology, with optimum conditions: reaction time was 7 h, molar ratio of C C bonds/FA/H 2 O 2 was 1.00/0.35/2.41, and reaction temperature was 65.84 °C with a maximum relative percentage conversion to oxirane of 92%. Also, the plasticizing effectiveness of epoxide waste cooking oil 2-ethylhexyl esters to substitute toxic plasticizer dioctyl phthalate were studied. Results showed that the mechanical and thermal performance of PVC samples was significantly improved with partial substitutions, while the migration resistance was slightly decreased. Comparison with conventional epoxy compound highlighted that epoxide waste cooking oil 2-ethylhexyl esters had superior low temperature property, oxidation stability, and remarkably reduced the glass transition temperature of PVC. In conclusion, the prepared epoxide via structural modification from waste cooking oil methyl esters proved to be an effective alternative to dioctyl phthalate, replacing about 40% of the total plasticizer. The solubility of sulfuryl fluoride in water was experimentally measured over the pressure from P = (0 to 600) kPa and T = (283.15 to 308.15) K using isochoric saturation method. Results show that SO 2 F 2 solubility increases with increasing pressure and decreases with increasing temperature. Using the experimental solubility data, Henry’s law constants and the thermodynamic properties such as the standard Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy changes of SO 2 F 2 solvation were obtained. Henry’s law constant based on mole fraction and molality of SO 2 F 2 in water vary from (432.21 to 1052.96) MPa and (7.78 to 18.96) MPa at T = (283.15 to 308.15) K, respectively. Background: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-associated death and the first most diagnosed cancer in the world. More than 2 million new cases are diagnosed and 1.6 million people die due to lung cancer every year. It is urgent to explore novel drugs and approaches for lung cancer treatment. Cinobufotalin is a TCM isolated from dried toad venom, which has been used to treat lung cancer. However, the precise mechanism remains unclear., Objective: This study was to investigate the mechanism of cinobufotalin treated in lung cancer., Methods: Cell growth was identified by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Besides, ferroptosis of lung cancer cells was determined by intracellular iron content, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and mitochondrial membrane potential. Moreover, RNA levels and proteins were detected by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blot (WB), respectively. In addition, the regulatory effect of hsa-miR-367-3p on TFRC was confirmed by luciferase reporter assay., Results: This study indicated that cinobufotalin suppressed lung cancer cell growth through resibufogenin. Besides, cinobufotalin induced ferroptosis in lung cancer cells through resibufogenin. Moreover, cinobufotalin increased lncRNA LINC00597 level, whereas it downregulated hsa-miR-367-3p expression in lung cancer cells via resibufogenin. The oxidative cleavage of vegetable oils and their derivatives to produce bio-based aldehydes is a potentially useful process, although the aldehyde products are readily oxidized to carboxylic acids and thus seldom obtained in high yields. The present study developed a room-temperature method for the synthesis of bio-aldehydes via the oxidative cleavage of vegetable oil-derived epoxides, using H 2 WO 4 as the catalyst, H 2 O 2 as the oxidant, and t -BuOH as the solvent. Reactions were carried out at temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 °C for 3.5-10.5 h, and provided >99% conversion and >90% aldehyde yield. In particular, an approximately 97% yield was obtained at 25 °C after 10.5 h. As the reaction proceeded, the H 2 WO 4 dissolved to form a W-containing anion. Several mesoporous Al-MCM-41 materials having different Si/Al ratios were hydrothermally synthesized and used as adsorbents to recover the catalyst by adsorbing these anions. The adsorption capacity of the Al-MCM-41 was found to increase with decreases in the Si/Al ratio. The Al-MCM-41 had little effect on the oxidative cleavage reaction at 25 °C, and thus could be directly added to the reaction system. The excellent anion adsorption performance of the Al-MCM-41 greatly improved the reusability of the H 2 WO 4 catalyst. Nitrogen source is one of the important factors that affect the microalgae growth and lipid accumulation. We studied the effects of various nitrogen sources (i.e. NaNO3, CO(NH2)2, NH4Cl and CH3COONH4) and amount on the growth density, lipid yield, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) content of Nannochloropsis oculata by single factor experimental method. The results show that N. oculata preferred NH4+ as nitrogen source rather than NO3- and CO(NH2)2. NH4+ could promote the growth and lipid accumulation of N. oculata. With the increase of nitrogen concentration, the biomass and the content of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) increased, but the content of lipid decreased. CH3COONH4 was the most suitable for growth, accumulation of lipid and EPA of N. oculata among the four investigated nitrogen sources. The optimal concentration was 5.29 mmol/L.

The technology of packed bed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma followed by a chemical absorption has been developed and was found to be an efficient way for decomposition treatment of sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2) in simulated residual fumigant. The effects of energy density, initial SO2F2 concentration, and residence time on the removal efficiency of SO2F2 for the DBD plasma treatment alone were investigated. It was found that the SO2F2 could be removed completely when initial volume concentration, energy density, and residence time were 0.5%, 33.9 kJ/L, and 5.1 s, respectively. The removal mechanism of SO2F2 in the packed bed DBD reactor was discussed. Based on the detailed analysis of SO2F2 molecular stability and its exhaust products in the DBD plasma reactor, it was concluded that the energetic electrons generated in the packed bed DBD reactor played a key role on the removal of SO2F2, and the major decomposition products of SO2F2 detected were SO2, SiF4, and S (Sulfur). Among these products, SiF4 was formed by the F atom reacted with the filler-quartz glass beads (SiO2) in the packed bed DBD reactor. Aqueous NaOH solution was used as the chemical absorbent for the gaseous products of SO2F2 after plasma pretreatment. It was found that the gaseous products in the plasma exhaust could be absorbed and fixed by the subsequent aqueous NaOH solution.

Effects of carbon sources (Na2CO3, NaHCO3 and glucose) and concentration of NaHCO3 on the growth density and lipid contents of Nannochloropsis oculata were studied. N. oculata preferred inorganic carbon to glucose, the growth density and lipid content of algae cultured with NaHCO3 were higher than that with glucose. The effects of concentration of NaHCO3 on growth density and lipid content were related to inoculation density and nitrogen level. In high nitrogen level, the concentration of NaHCO3 had little effect on the growth density, but in low nitrogen level, the growth density increased at first, and then decreased with the increase of concentration of NaHCO3. Based on the results we suggest that an optimum ratio of carbon to nitrogen was existed. Furthermore, we found the optimum ratio was changed with inoculation density. The optimum ratio of carbon to nitrogen was 3 when inoculation density was OD440 of 0.10, the optimum ratio increased to 5 with OD440 of 0.70. Concentration of NaHCO3 and ratio of carbon to nitrogen had significant effects on the lipid content and productivity. Lipid content reached the highest value when the ratio of carbon to nitrogen was 1 with experimental range of nitrogen level and inoculation density. The lipid productivity was 56.7 mg/(L.d) , and the EPA productivity was 6.5 mg/(L.d) at optimum cultivation condition with NaHCO3 as carbon source, the ratio of carbon to nitrogen at 1, the concentration of NaNO3 at 0.225 g/L, and the inoculation density with OD440 of 0.70.
