The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the global workforce, presenting unprecedented challenges to managers and practitioners of strategic human resource management. Pandemic-influenced changes in the employment relationship highlighting the need for adaptation in order to facilitate a return to pre-pandemic conditions. Crises such as this can have a detrimental effect on employees' psychological contract, which in turn can hinder the organization's ability to thrive in the post-COVID-19 era and impede the development of high commitment levels in the aftermath of the crisis. Emotional intelligence plays an increasingly vital role in effectively navigating the crisis and providing support to employees, while also facilitating the reconstruction of the psychological contract. Therefore, this study aims to explain the role of emotional intelligence of strategic human resource management practitioners on affective organizational commitment and the possible mediating effect of the psychological contract in that relationship. A quantitative study took place in February 2023 among 286 HR directors, HR managers, and HR officers in higher education institutions in Georgia. Partial Least Squares for Structural Equation Modelling was applied for data analysis. The results revealed that the emotional intelligence of strategic human resource management practitioners has a positive impact on the psychological contract and the affective organizational commitment. This study supports the idea that emotional intelligence can transform strategic human resource management practitioners into individuals who engage in people-orientated activities. These activities aim to effectively acquire, utilize, and retain employees within an organization. The study also suggests that emotional intelligence can provide solutions to maintain high employee commitment during times of crisis and in the aftermath of unprecedented situations. In the summer of 2004, Georgia Southern University began a library construction project that was to last 4 years. An important aspect was the installation of an Automated Retrieval System (ARC) to house a substantial portion of the library collections so that more space could be available for students, faculty, and the services to meet their needs. This paper traces the development of the use of the ARC to house collections, with emphasis on how materials were selected for the two phases of the project and how catalogers have adapted to the idea of collections that can only be browsed virtually. Few studies have explored higher education desegregation in the nation's first state to charter a state-supported university, Georgia. The present study is the first to document the University's racial integration communication with various stakeholder groups as well as the University's public relations response and strategy. The study examines the University's public relations function and the analysis shows how the public relations strategy was to save face when addressing issues raised by its stakeholder groups. The study's findings demonstrate that the University employed public relations, communications and stakeholder management strategies to "save face" and maintain good rapport with external audiences. In 2015, the University System of Georgia began a 3-year collaboration with the Gardner Institute's Gateways to Completion (G2C) program to help redesign high-enrollment courses to promote student success. One institution selected their English 1102 course for this initiative, and the department partnered with the library to include a mandatory information literacy component. Finding, evaluating, and using sources are integral parts of this course's learning objectives which connects with the ACRL's Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education. The article focuses on several measures taken to provide the contents of the 2009 AEC conference of the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), held in Atlanta, Georgia, to those NEHA members who could not attend the conference because of the current difficult economic times. It states that many of the conference's sessions have been recorded and are being posted to the e-Learning library of courses, and a collection of papers on the H1N1 outbreak is available on the website, www.neha.org. It mentions that the NEHA has set up a special consultant's program which offers members telephone consulting time on any issues they wish to explore with the experts. It also mentions that the NEHA has compiled many of the handouts developed by the conference speakers.

As of spring semester 2010, Georgia Southern University began using a VuFind implementation as the default access to the library catalogue on the library Web page while maintaining a secondary link to the traditional Voyager "classic" catalogue. VuFind is an open-source product that has been adopted and adapted by all the state universities and colleges in the state of Georgia. For approximately ten years, Georgia libraries have used Voyager as their catalogue, and it remains available to users as the "classic" search option. This report examines the local VuFind implementation compared to the more traditional Voyager implementation, emphasizing the differences in the searching capabilities of each. The Organization of American Historians is pleased to announce the Liberty Legacy Foundation/OAH Travel Fellowships for pre-collegiate history teachers to attend the 2004 OAH Regional Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, July 8-11 2004. From its inception as a route for Native American travel before European contact to its present form as Interstate 81, the Valley Road through the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia has proven to be one of the most important avenues for travel, trade, migration and commerce in North America.
