The economic feasibility of retrofitting an amine based post-combustion CO 2 capture process to an existing Kraft pulp mill and an existing integrated pulp and board mill has been assessed. This study builds on the technical assessment of the energy performance of the mills when retrofitting a post-combustion CO 2 capture process by Onarheim et al. (2017). Between 75 to 100% of the CO 2 emissions from the pulp and paper industry originate from the combustion of biomass. If the raw material is sourced sustainably, these emissions are categorized as carbon neutral. Applying sustainably managed biomass in the pulp and paper processes and capturing the resulting CO 2 for permanent storage enables the industry to go carbon negative. In this study, the economic impact of retrofitting CO 2 capture from the flue gases of the recovery boiler, the multi-fuel boiler and the lime kiln were assessed. The levelized cost of pulp and the cost of CO 2 avoided were evaluated based on six different scenarios varying the CO 2 tax, incentives for renewable electricity production, with and without recognizing biogenic CO 2 emissions as neutral (exempting CO 2 emissions from tax or not), and rewarding captured and permanently stored CO 2 with negative emissions credit. Results show that the pulp and paper industry has a potential for realizing feasible implementation of large-scale industrial Bio-CCS. For cases where 60–90% of total site CO 2 emissions are captured, the cost of avoided CO 2 amounts to 52–66 €/t for the Kraft pulp mill and 71–89 €/t for the integrated pulp and board mill. The cost of avoided CO 2 , and thus the realization of Bio-CCS in the pulp and paper industry, is strongly dependent on prevailing policy frameworks such as the EU ETS. In order to reach a levelized cost of pulp similar to the reference mill without CO 2 capture, a negative CO 2 emission credit of 60–70 €/t CO 2 for the Kraft pulp mill and 70–80 €/t CO 2 for the integrated pulp and board mill will be required. As long as biogenic CO 2 emissions that are captured and permanently stored are not recognized as negative and rewarded accordingly there is no economic incentive for the owners of pulp and paper mills to implement CCS. The only way to get the pulp and paper industry to implement and deploy Bio-CCS will need the support of the decision-makers in promoting the right policy framework and regulations to encourage the investment such as strong incentives for negative emissions which are bankable during the long term operation of the mills. Paper products are carbon-intensive and having a huge potential for carbon reduction due to their biomass-oriented characteristics. A uniform standard for total carbon footprint (CF) accounting is vital. However, the existing standards have not yet been unified. Inconsistencies between standards cause difficulties in their use and significantly weaken the credibility and comparability of the carbon footprint of a product (CFP). This work rethought the three most widely used standards (Publicly Available Specification 2050 (PAS2050), Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol), and Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard (ISO14067)) from the life-cycle perspective, and established a more appropriate and comprehensive CF accounting standard for paper products (CFASPP). Sanitary pads were selected as a case study to illustrate the discrepancies between PAS 2050, the GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, and CFASPP, for which the annual production CF results were 1424.60, 1481.08, 1453.57, and 1427.04 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO 2 e) respectively. The main reasons for the different CF results were the cut-off criteria and the inclusion or exclusion of carbon storage, delayed emissions, and energy recovery. Each element increased or decreased 22.57 (carbon storage), 29.96 (cut-off criteria), 10.4 (delayed emissions), and 27.52 (incineration with energy recovery) tons of CO 2 e in the results. With increasing demand, these discrepancies will become increasingly significant and may lead to corporations shouldering more or less carbon emission responsibilities by selecting different standards, which will challenge the fairness of product carbon neutrality management. CFASPP covers all paper product life-cycle stages and places greater emphasis on the aspects of carbon storage, delayed emissions, and energy recovery in incineration, which cannot be ignored for the CF accounting of paper products and other biomass-oriented products. This study aims to provide a more applicable and comprehensive guide for corporations to evaluate the CF of paper products, and to provide a reference for the construction of a carbon-neutral evaluation system. • Interactions between cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin during paper waste degradation were observed. • A consecutive reaction mechanism was developed for paper waste degradation at temperature range of 200 °C to 400 °C. • The model was validated by NMR and FTIR spectroscopy results. Paper waste generation has been rising in the past decades, with a large amount being landfilled. These paper wastes can be great energy sources after thermal treatment since they are considered carbon neutral. These wastes contain mainly cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and some minerals. The thermal decomposition of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin have been extensively studied, however, the knowledge of thermal degradation of paper wastes at lower temperatures, which are more practical for industrial applications are still lacking. In this study, paper wastes have been characterized and thermogravimetric analyses were performed from 200°C to 400°C and the char produced were analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Two kinetic approaches were taken while developing the kinetic model of paper waste thermal degradation: (i) reconstructing the TGA results of paper waste thermal degradation by an additive law of the degradation of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin; (ii) considering paper waste as one material and develop a multi-step consecutive reaction mechanism that focuses on solid products at different temperatures. It was observed that there are potential interactions between cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin during paper waste degradation. Therefore, the second approach was concluded to be more plausible, and one set of kinetic parameters were determined according to the experimental results at different temperatures. These results provided insights into the degradation kinetic mechanism and solid product distribution of the paper waste. It was found that the first reaction was due to dehydration of cellulose and the 6th and 7th reaction can be attributed to the thermal degradation of lignin. The NMR and FTIR results also validated that the cellulose started degrading at lower temperatures, and lignin degradation became more pronounced at higher temperatures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pulp and paper industry, which provides cellulose pulp and paper, bio-based energy and chemicals, is one of the largest energy consumers, greenhouse gases (GHG) and pollutant emitters among manufacturing industries. Although the environmental impact of the pulp and paper industry has been extensively studied, life cycle assessment (LCA) results have not yet reached a consensus. By means of a systematic review and meta-analysis, this article contributes to the quantification and harmonization of the life cycle environmental impacts of pulp making and paper making systems. Based on the screening of 45 cases of paper making and 18 cases of pulp making, we found that 1 t of paper results in about 950 kg carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) equivalent (CO 2 -eq) GHG emissions on average. However, there are distinct differences between countries and pulp and paper categories. The dominant factor influencing GHG emissions is energy use. In paper making, the pulp making process is responsible for 62% of energy use, 45% of GHG emissions, 48% of acidification potential, and 49% of eutrophication potential. The kg CO 2 -eq emissions of three different types of pulp were as follows: Kraft, 508 kg CO 2 -eq/t; chemi-mechanical, 513 kg CO 2 -eq/t; and recycled pulp, 408 kg CO 2 -eq/t. Excluding emissions from electricity and steam production, the convergence of carbon emissions is observed within the same categories of pulp. Straw-based pulp caused far more environmental impact than any other type because of the intensive inputs in agricultural activities as well as in the pulp making process. This research highlighted the inconsistencies in functional units, system boundaries, and methodologies and carbon neutrality assumptions in different LCA studies of pulp and paper making. We design a facile strategy to manufacture a high-performance composite of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) made from brown paper and PVC film. Brown paper with little fiber damage is prepared using bamboo pulping via a moderate method, and a high content of lignin enhances the lipophilicity of the fibers. The "layer-network" porous paper provides "green" framework support. When hot and cold pressing of the stacks of paper sheets and PVC films is performed, PVC resin fills the pores of the framework support, and then, strong mechanical interlocking structures are established, similar to the vastly distributed microscale "mortise riveting". Then, a dense and lightweight paper/PVC composite is produced. The composite exhibits strong mechanical properties in terms of tensile strength (132.65 MPa), flexural strength (183.45 MPa), flexural modulus (10.44 GPa), and internal bonding strength (2.6 MPa), with good thermal stability and flame resistance. The strength is 5- to 10-fold that of commercial artificial boards, substantially surpassing that of bamboo, PVC, and other PVC composite resin profiles. Additionally, PVC replaces adhesives that contain or release formaldehyde, and a high percentage (>60 wt%) of green cellulose fibers is used. The simple technology directly uses existing manufacturing methods of papermaking, film stretching, and press laminating systems. Therefore, the high-performance paper/PVC composite is environmentally sustainable and more cost-effective than PVC composites prepared with other fillers. The new materials have great potential prospects for the development of high-strength materials and the implementation of carbon neutrality in prefabricated houses, furniture, vehicles, ships, containers, and color steel plates. Strategies for changing the conductivity of Li 2 CO 3 is introduced into the fabrication of Li-CO 2 battery. Benefitting from the favorable hierarchical architecture constructed (CPM-MnO 2), facile charge transfer occurs between catalytic surface and Li 2 CO 3 by –OH⋯O hydrogen bonds improves the metallicity of Li 2 CO 3 , facilitating the formation/decomposition of Li 2 CO 3 and bestowing an ultra-long-term stability of 1087 cycles (4348 h). Lithium-CO 2 batteries are recognized as an essential strategy for efficient carbon sequestration and energy storage to achieve carbon neutrality. Their cycle-ability and polarization voltage, however, are hindered by high decomposition voltage (≈4.3–4.5 V) of insulating Li 2 CO 3. Herein, we report a significant advance toward the rational design of self-supporting and ultra-long cycle lifetime cathode for Li-CO 2 batteries, dependence on a favorable hierarchical architecture and rich charge transfer constructed by homogeneously distributed MnO 2 nanoplates rooted in the MXene surface supported by carbon paper. Detailedly, it exhibits impressive ultra-long-term stability of 1087 cycles (4348 h) with a low polarization gap (≈ 0.47 V) at a high current of 200 μA cm−2, which is outperformed by all the liquid electrolyte-based Li-CO2 batteries reported previously. Electronic structure analysis reveals that facile charge transfer occurs between catalytic surface and Li 2 CO 3 , springing from the –OH functional group (in MXene) to MnO 2 by –OH⋯O hydrogen bonds, which acts as charge transfer channels, improving the metallicity of Li 2 CO 3 and facilitating its decomposition and extending battery cyclability. In recent years, the utilization of biomass through advanced power technologies has intensified to achieve carbon neutrality. An oxy-fuel circulating fluidized bed combustor of biomass with higher efficiency supercritical carbon dioxide cycle has been developed with the aim of compensating the penalties for carbon capture and storage. The combustor fuelled with waste paper, waste wood, and cow manure, at an input of 200 ton/day is economically evaluated. Waste paper is on the verge of becoming an economically feasible fuel, more so than the other biomass examined. The use of waste paper led to a positive net present value, an internal rate of return of 3.8%, a benefit-cost ratio of 1.025, and a payback period of 17.7 years. Subsequent sensitivity analyses conducted for the waste paper fuelled power plant indicated that the capital cost is the most influential factor; the boiler, supercritical carbon dioxide cycle, and oxygen fuel combustion system were indicated in descending order of related subdivided sensitiveness. Both renewable energy certificate and carbon credit has contributed to the feasible economic of the system, with former one took precedence over later one. Sensitivity from the technical perspective, improvement in air separation unit is likely to greatly improve the economic feasibility of the proposed system. Firstly, the operational communication architecture of the district integrated energy system based on the cloud-pipe-edge-end is constructed to solve the problems of data transmission, data computation, and data privacy. Secondly, a two-layer distributed scheduling model of district integrated energy system considering waste heat recovery is established based on a laddered carbon trading mechanism. At the upper level, an optimal scheduling model targeting low-carbon and economic performance is developed by considering the participation of district integrated energy system in demand response and the purchase and sale of electricity. At the lower level, an optimal scheduling model considering waste heat recovery for subsystem energy-coupled equipment is developed. Then, the analytical target cascade is used to realize the decoupling of the two-layer model, and the efficient solution is achieved in the process of multiple iterations. Finally, by analyzing the arithmetic examples, it is verified that the proposed method can improve the economy of system operation by 4.38% and the absorption capacity of wind power by 9.89%, while protecting the privacy and interest claims of multiple parties. Under carbon cap-and-trade regulation, to control carbon emissions and improve the recycling efficiency of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) from the traditional offline recycling channel, more enterprises attempt to simultaneously combine the online recycling platform with the digital transformation of the supply chain. Based on a closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) with dual recycling channels and considering recycling advertising invested both in offline and online recycling channels, this paper attempts to explore the optimal recycling advertising mode which can both achieve economic and environmental performance under cap-and-trade regulation. Therefore, game models including a manufacturer and above either recycler are established, which are respectively correspond to four recycling advertising modes: manufacturer cooperates with neither recycler (MO mode), manufacturer only cooperates with the offline retailer (MR mode), manufacturer only cooperates with the online recycling platform (MT mode), and manufacturer cooperates with either recycler (MRT mode). Consequently, this paper solves the optimal decisions of the tripartite and focuses on the analysis of the impact of cooperative (competitive) recycling advertising under cap-and-trade regulation. By comparing the profits and total carbon emissions of the whole CLSC under four recycling advertising modes, the results indicate that: cooperative advertising between the manufacturer and two recyclers can achieve economic and environmental performance for the whole CLSC if the free-riding phenomenon occurs in recycling advertising. Otherwise, influenced by competitive recycling advertising, the above mode turns to the suboptimal one for the profits of two recyclers and the total carbon emissions of the CLSC. The ever-increasing challenges related to water security and climate mitigation underscore the pressing need for forward-thinking systems planning tools to drive urban sustainability transitions. In this study, we propose a novel city-level multi-objective planning framework that explores the nexus between carbon trading and water management, with the aim of facilitating water-efficient urban industrial restructuring. The framework integrates cap-and-trade mechanisms into a two-layered optimization model, creating an integrated approach to optimizing carbon emissions and generating economic opportunities for improving water efficiency. To illustrate the potential application of this framework, we conducted a case study focusing on Dongguan City, a water-stressed industrial metropolis in southern China. The results illustrate potential synergies between water planning strategies and carbon trading schemes, which could be harnessed to enable targeted reductions in water usage and carbon emissions. Furthermore, our findings identify the textile, apparel, and paper products manufacturing industries as primary candidates for strategic production scale reduction, emphasizing the importance of sustained support for the development of the computer and electronic manufacturing sector as a catalyst for urban sustainability transitions. In this paper a new dc to ac Interconnected Cascaded Converter (ICC) is presented. The proposed ICC consists of several modular submodules of two switches and an inductor interconnecting two capacitors. Each submodule is controlled to keep the voltage on each capacitor as a slice of a sinewave. The output voltage of the converter, according to KVL, includes the sum of the voltages on the capacitor that represents a full pure sinewave. The sinusoidal output of the converter can be varied over a wider range. The proposed converter has the following advantages: sinusoidal output voltage with v/f control; absence of dv/dt related issues; compact size/weight/volume due to the use of wide band gap switching devices. The converter is modular in construction, employs high frequency L-C components and semiconductor switches can be stacked for voltage sharing. The proposed converter is a promising candidate for multiple applications such as high performance ac motor drives, microinverters and uninterruptible power supplies, carbon neutral logistics and electric vehicles. The paper details the operating modes, control aspects along with an illustrative design example for a three and eleven module converter. • We examine the role of circular economy and inclusive green growth in promoting energy transition and carbon neutrality in Europe. • We used three-pronged empirical strategy framed in advanced dynamic econometrics. • The results reveal that lagged of CO 2 emissions is a positive predictor of CO 2 emissions. • We show that embracing circular economy and inclusive green growth will be highly beneficial towards the attainment of carbon neutrality. • We recommend policy measures that considers both current and past emissions to promote environmental quality. This paper examines the role of the circular economy and inclusive green growth in promoting energy transition and carbon neutrality for several European countries during 2009–2021, using an advanced econometric strategy. To achieve this objective, we employed a three-pronged empirical strategy. The first strategy involved standard panel specifications, such as pooled ordinary least squares, Fixed Effects, Roger panel regression, white panel regression, and Driscoll–Kraay standard errors. The second strategy explored the long- and short-term dynamics of the relationships using the dynamic specifications of the Generalised Method of Moments, comprising the augmented Arellano–Bond, Ahn–Schmidt, Arellano–Bond, and Arellano–Bover/Blundell–Bond estimators. It further controls for endoegeneity using the Two stages Lease Square (2SLS and Lewbel 2SLS). The third strategy employed the Machado and Silva quantiles via moments to re-evaluate the heterogeneity drivers of carbon neutrality. Furthermore, an alternative and complementary strategy based on the statistical procedures of Hausman–Taylor and Feasible Generalized Least Squares was employed to verify robustness. The findings suggest that prior carbon emissions positively predict future emissions. Also, our results reveal that the adoption of a circular economy, including green growth and renewable energy, can significantly contribute to reducing carbon emissions. In contrast, domestic economic drivers, and eco-innovation increase carbon emissions. We propose that policymakers mandate producers to oversee the entirety of their product life cycles as a means to mitigate carbon emissions. Furthermore, endorsing training programs and educational initiatives aimed at cultivating the requisite skills for the energy transition and the adoption of circular economy practices is imperative for ensuring the realization of a successful low-carbon economy. Decarbonizing the building sector to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) is a complex issue that poses significant challenges to the scientific community. In this context, the current paper aims to assess the viability of employing incinerated by-products as a sustainable mineral resource to produce sustainable geopolymers. To this end, the study focuses on the formulation of geopolymer binders using fly ash with various proportions (ranging from 0 % to 50 %) of metakaolin (MK), investigating their physico-mechanical, microstructural analysis as well as their sealing capacity. The results indicate that incorporating 30 % MK not only preserves good workability but also significantly improves mechanical strength, ensuring long-term durability by increasing bulk density and concurrently reducing water absorption and harmful porosity. Moreover, the results of the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) demonstrated that the released contaminants remained within the regulatory limits established by the USEPA. The geopolymer binder developed exhibited a significant reduction of 77.23 % and 57.92 % in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO 2 -e) emissions and energy demand compared to conventional cement. Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) and carbon emission trading (CET) system are the top-level system design of China's energy low-carbon transformation, which have great strategic significance for realizing the "carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060". At present, China's tradable green certificates market and CET market are still in the initial stage. The implementation single system may have diverse trials and errors in its initial stage, and the market activity and transaction frequency are low. Therefore, this paper aims to explore whether the synergistic effect between the two systems can effectively promote China's energy low-carbon transformation. This paper establishes the system dynamic model of the synergistic effect between the RPS and CET in China's electricity market to reveal the influence mechanism and the synergistic effect. Driven by the global goal of "carbon neutrality", energy conservation, emission reduction and low-carbon development have become important research directions. Transparent thermal insulation materials can effectively shield near-infrared radiation while maintaining high visible light transmittance, making them widely applicable in building energy conservation. In this paper, antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) and cesium tungsten bronze (Cs x WO 3 , or CWO) are chosen to be composited in order to solve the problems of the poor shielding effect of ATO for short-wavelength near-infrared (NIR) light and the unsatisfactory shielding effect of CWO for long-wavelength NIR light. Therefore, in this study, we employed a one-step hydrothermal method to form a novel CWO@ATO core-shell structure to combine the advantages of both ATO and CWO. By adjusting the composite ratio of ATO and CWO, both the physical and electronic stucutres are effectively tuned to promote the optical modulation in a broad bandwidth. Enventually, the core-shell structured composite exhibit an excellent near-infrared blocking property, surpassing the pure ATO by 27.8 % in the wavelength region of 780∼1500 nm while improving by 14.9 % compared to CWO in the long wavelength between 1500 and 2500 nm. Furthermore, the prepared CWO@ATO core-shell structure repesents near-infrared shielding rate as high as 93.1 % in the full NIR spectrum, and possesses an overall thermal insulation coefficiency (THI) of 9.33 in the full range from 780 nm to 2500 nm, which is substantially larger than that of pure ATO and CWO by a factor of 2.37 and 3.05, respectively. Fossil-based natural resources are carbon-intensive, and over-reliance on them often leads to persistent high carbon emissions at national or regional levels, resulting in the carbon curse. Based on the panel data of 114 resource-based cities in China from 2007 to 2020, this paper examines the carbon curse and solutions for these cities from the perspectives of total and intensity of carbon emissions. The results show that: Firstly, due to the different stages of urban development, resource endowment, degree of resource dependence, and policy background, there is a heterogeneity of carbon curse in China's resource-based cities. Secondly, the carbon emission trading policy can effectively mitigate the carbon curse in China's resource-based cities, and the robustness tests demonstrate the validity of this finding. Thirdly, under the carbon emission trading policy, industrial structure upgrading and digital transformation can play a secondary moderating role in resolving the carbon curse in resource-based cities, further strengthening the inhibitory effect of the carbon emission trading scheme on the carbon curse. In contrast, green technology innovation exhibits no enhancement in the impact of the policy. Existing studies have only focused on the role of ETS or ISU on green development and have not included them in an analytical framework. The DID model and the moderating effect model are therefore combined in this work to to explore how the ETS will affect the link between ISU and green development throughout the period of 2008 to 2019 using panel data from 271 Chinese cities. Through a series of robustness and endogeneity tests, we find that: (1) ETS can significantly moderate the U-shaped relationship between ISU and green development, and this impact is significant in both the long and short term; (2) When ETS and ISU are implemented at the same time, the effect of the combined actions is greater than the sum of the effects of the two policies implemented separately, which means that the combined actions has excess dividends; (3) ETS and ISU have significant direct effects and spatial spillover effects on green development, and the excess dividends of combined actions also exist significantly at the spatial level. Hydrogen energy is recognized as a crucial solution for addressing energy crises and advancing energy conservation and emissions reduction. It will play a significant role in the future integrated energy systems (IESs). However, the influence of seasonal variations in scheduling optimization of hydrogen-integrated energy system has rarely been investigated. A low-carbon scheduling model for IES, adopting multiple demand responses and a ladder-type carbon trading mechanism, has been established. Additionally, a multi-time scale dispatch optimization strategy considering seasonal hydrogen utilization is thus proposed in this paper. Specifically, day-ahead scheduling optimizes the system taking into account the seasonal variations of renewable energy and load. In the intraday stage, rolling optimization is adopted to address the forecasting errors introduced by wind and photovoltaic fluctuations. In the real-time stage, chance-constrained methods are employed to ensure short-term supply-demand balance. The efficacy of the proposed strategy is verified using real-world measurements, and the results show the multi-time scale scheduling strategy and multiple demand responses effectively enhanced the system's self-regulation capability, leading to a 12% increase in renewable energy absorption. • A life cycle assessment (LCA) of solid recovered fuel (SRF) was conducted. • SRF production process contributes to about 35.6 kg CO 2 -eq per ton. • A maximum of −1752.03 kg CO 2 -eq was obtained with about 80 % of SRF biogenic carbon. • A footprint of −542.09 to −1729.05 kg CO 2 -eq can be found due to coke substitution. • The study recommended SRF production to mitigate the global carbon footprint. Solid recovered fuel (SRF) from non-recyclable waste obtained from source separation and mechanical treatments can replace carbon coke in cement plants, contributing to the carbon neutrality. A life cycle assessment (LCA) of the SRF production from non-recyclable and selected waste was conducted in an Italian mechanical treatment plant to estimate the potential environmental impacts per ton of SRF produced. The analysis would contribute to evaluate the benefits that can be obtained due to coke substitution in best- and worst-case scenarios. The avoided impacts achieved were assessed, together with an evaluation of the variables that can affect the environmental benefits: SRF biogenic carbon content (in percentage of paper and cardboard); transportation distances travelled from the treatment plant to the cement kiln; the renewable energy used in the mechanical facility. On average, about 35.6 kgCO 2 -eq are generated by the SRF transportation and production phase. These impacts are greatly compensated by coke substitution, obtaining a net value of about −1.1 tCO 2 -eq avoided per ton of SRF. On balance, the global warming potential due to SRF production and consumption ranges from about −542 kgCO 2 -eq to about −1729 kgCO 2 -eq. The research recommended the use of SRF to substitute coke in cement kilns also in low densely-populated areas to mitigate environmental impacts and achieve carbon neutrality at a global level. A new integrated energy system (IES) framework is created in order to encourage the consumption of renewable energy, which is represented by wind and solar energy, and lower carbon emissions. The connection between the units in the composite system is examined in this research. In-depth analysis is done on how energy is transferred between electricity, heat, gas, and hydrogen. The system model and constraints are used to build an objective function with the lowest total operating cost. The calculation of carbon trading includes the ladder carbon trading method. And set up 6 cases for analysis, which verifies the effectiveness of the participation of the concentrated solar power plant (CSPP) in the heat supply and power to hydrogen system (P2HS) in reducing the total operating cost of the system, reducing wind curtailment and light curtailment, and reducing carbon emissions. Under the model considered in this paper, reduces the total operating cost reduces by 27.04% when the concentrated solar power plant is involved in the supply of thermal load. To achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, China promoted county-wide photovoltaic projects (CWPVs) in 2021. A large number of distributed photovoltaic (DPV) installations have expanded the scale of prosumer. It also brings the inequity problem of prosumer, distribution network system operator (DSO) and consumer--DSO and consumer bear the costs such as access cost and depreciation of stock investment caused by DPV access. Combined with China's current electricity tariff system and the promotion of photovoltaic scale development, this paper proposes a standby fee model based on the principle of "beneficiary apportionment". In this model, the standby fee mechanism for self-owned power plants is applied to DPV to reduce the implementation cost of the mechanism, and the principle of "beneficiary apportionment" is adopted to ensure the profitability of DPV. This paper takes the CWPV in Hunan Province, China as an example, calculates the standby fee under various electricity metering methods, and determines the most appropriate standby fee by considering factors such as output uncertainty of DPV. To reflect the future electricity demand variations in the industrial sector of western China under the "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutral" strategies, that the traditional methods of electricity consumption forecasting are no longer effective, this paper proposes a new hierarchy of electricity demand influencing factors based on the transition path of low-carbon and CO 2 emission intensity constraints of the industrial sector. Then, the feedback equations of the influencing factors based on CO 2 emission intensity is constructed, and a long-term electricity forecast model based on system dynamics is established. Finally, taking Ningxia Province as an example, the electricity demand and carbon emissions of the industrial sector are predicted under different policy constraint scenarios. The results show: (1) In the baseline scenario, electricity demand will tend to saturate with about 140.1TWh in 2030, and the CO 2 emission level of electricity demand will peak at 72.52 million tons in 2029. (2) Compared with the system dynamics model without considering CO 2 emission intensity, the mean absolute percentage error is reduced about 3.16 % by inputting the influence factors and regression coefficients designed in this paper. (3) Compared with other forecasting methods, the model proposed in this paper has the lowest mean absolute percentage error of 2.75 %. The model improves the accuracy and provides a reference for planning departments to develop energy transition plans, where the prediction results reflect the reality of the industrial sector in western China. Cellulose filter paper (CFP), as a biocompatible natural material with a unique three-dimensional porous network structure, high crystallinity and excellent mechanical flexibility, can be used to create biodegradable and environmentally friendly TENGs. Here, we have developed a green and recyclable CFP-based energy harvesting and human–computer interaction system based on the single-electrode structure. It is composed of PVDF-coated CFP and conductive Cu-coated CFP as friction layer and electrode respectively. The degradation experiment verified the composite film materials can be completely dispersed and dissolved in deionized (DI) water in 30 min using an ultrasonic instrument, which fully proves the green and environmental protection of the prepared CFP-based TENG. We also thoroughly studied the output properties of the fabricated CFP-based TENGs, which demonstrates a maximum output voltage of 192 V, output current of 9.3 μA, and output power at 736.7 mW m−2. The CFP-based TENGs can be conveniently adopted to power commercial electronic products and as a wearable interface to control computer programs. The Chinese government has considered the transcritical CO 2 heat pump (TCHP) as a promising solution for space heating with the goal of "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality." Considering the convenient implementation and the performance improvement, the vapor injection technique should be taken into consideration. This paper presents the experimental and simulation investigation of the SCVI TCHP prototype with energetic and economic analysis. Under the design condition, the SCVI technique could improve the peak COP by 5.02 % with a 10.11 % improvement in heating capacity. Compared to the direct electric heater solution, the annual operation cost was reduced by 11966CNY, 29.03 % higher than the Base TCHP. The payback period was decreased from 8 to 6.9 years due to the application of vapor injection. The effect of ambient temperature on the system performances was evaluated based on the experimental data. As the simulation progressed, a control strategy optimizing both the discharge and the medium pressure was developed, and the influence of inlet and outlet water temperature was studied. The increasing trend towards global carbon neutrality is driving interest in ammonia fuel as a potential zero-carbon solution for transportation. However, due to the non-ideal combustion characteristics of ammonia, it is necessary to mix it with hydrogen to achieve better engine performance. While generating hydrogen from ammonia on-board is a key technology, there has been limited research in this area, which is hindering the introduction of ammonia engines to the market. This paper proposes an initial study on the feasibility of thermochemical fuel reforming (TFR) technology for generating hydrogen from ammonia fuel-rich operations. A zero-dimensional engine model, validated against experimental results, is used to assess the potential of the TFR approach and identify any barriers to implementation. The results indicate that the optimum air-fuel ratio for hydrogen generation is an equivalence ratio of two, as it maximizes hydrogen production rates while minimizing operational complexities. Moreover, increasing intake temperature, pressure, and compression ratio enhances hydrogen generation from the ammonia-rich mixture. However, owing to the limited reactivity of the ammonia fuel, the rate of hydrogen production remains relatively small (less than 1%/cycle), significantly falling short of the demand. Additionally, the combustion of the fuel-rich mixture in the TFR cylinder results in approximately 20%/cycle of hydrogen in the emitted gases, potentially enhancing the efficiency of working cylinders, but it also poses the risk of engine component failures due to the high pressure rise rate. In conclusion, the use of solely ammonia to produce hydrogen in the TFR cylinder proves to be inefficient, warranting further investigations into the potential benefits of incorporating additives to promote hydrogen production. Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a promising energy conversion technology for accelerating the process of carbon neutrality. This paper develops and validates a 1D mathematical model for a planar SOFC (10 cm × 10 cm) along the fluid flow direction with a less than 0.2% deviation. When the SOFC operates in an adiabatic environment with different inlet gas temperatures (T in) and current density (I avg), the distributions of its key parameters are calculated and analyzed. The results show that the optimal inlet gas temperature for the SOFC working in an adiabatic environment is between 873 K and 973 K when I avg varies from 0.05 A cm−2 to 0.25 A cm−2. The maximum temperature appears at the outlet position and between the outlet and the center point along the flue flow for the co-flow and counter-flow SOFC. Compared with the co-flow pattern, the counter-flow design can benefit the fuel cell power output when T in and I avg are identical, especially with lower T in and higher I avg. Green hydrogen production from biomass is an eco-friendly and sustainable solution for reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development. This paper presents potential green hydrogen production from available biomass resources, including agricultural crops and livestock waste in Kazakhstan in 14 regions. The study explores the potential of biomass-to-hydrogen production in Kazakhstan, including the availability and quality of biomass resources and environmental sustainability. The gasification process is chosen as the most efficient technology for biomass resource consumption to obtain green hydrogen. This is the first study in Kazakhstan contributes assessment of the geographic distribution of available biomass resources in the country. The total amount of green hydrogen production from agricultural waste is 432 tonnes/km2/year. Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, and North Kazakhstan are listed as regions with the highest green hydrogen production potential with an annual 122.2, 71, 57.6, 35.3, 29, and 28.5 tonnes/km2/year, respectively. Annual green hydrogen production from livestock waste is 5262 × 10−6 tonnes/km2/year which equals to 856 tonnes/year. The top three three regions with H 2 production are Turkestan, Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions with 208, 112.5, and 93 tonnes/year, respectively. Considering the constraints of carbon trading policy, manufacturers have strengthened joint emission reduction with energy service company (ESCO). In view of the capital constraint of ESCO and the demand risk of the manufacturer, in order to promote better cooperation between the manufacturer and ESCO, the influence of manufacturer's risk aversion on supply chain performance is studied. In this paper, we use the mean-variance (MV) model to construct the two-echelon supply chain models of manufacturer's non-shareholding ESCO, manufacturer's shareholding ESCO and manufacturer's shareholding ESCO under risk aversion, respectively. This paper studies the risk aversion strategy of manufacturer's shareholding ESCO, discusses the influence of relevant parameters on decision variables, and analyses the influence of different shareholding proportion and risk aversion coefficient on profit through numerical analysis. The results show that the emission reduction of ESCO and the selling price of the manufacturer are increased when the manufacturer chooses the appropriate shareholding proportion, and interestingly, the manufacturer's shareholding in ESCO will also increase its emission reduction price. However, in order to avoid the risk of equity investment, manufacturers adopt the strategy of reducing the price of emission reduction and sales price, but this behavior will not only reduce their own profits, but also make the emission reduction lower. Carbon trading price is the core component of the carbon emission trading market. Accurate carbon trading price prediction is of great significance for forming an effective carbon trading market and achieving the "dual carbon" goal. Based on the carbon trading price data in China Emissions Exchange, this paper predicts the carbon trading price through the proposed hybrid model of SSA+LSTM. To achieve a win-win situation among multiple stakeholders within the integrated energy system, this paper proposes a low-carbon scheduling research of integrated energy system based on Stackelberg game under sharing mode. Firstly, an operation framework of integrated energy system based on leader-follower game was established, and a model of integrated energy system operator and user coalition was established considering carbon trading mechanism. Secondly, bi-directional long short-term memory is used to predict the travel data of electric vehicles, and a schedulable capacity model for electric vehicle cluster as shared energy storage was established. Then, an energy trading optimization model based on leader-follower game was constructed for integrated energy system operator and user coalition, and an improved Shapley value is adopted to realize cost allocation within user coalition. Finally, based on the demonstration project of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City is selected as the research object to make example analysis. The calculation results show this paper can achieve a reasonable benefit allocation among multiple participants, reduce carbon emissions of integrated energy system, and increase renewable energy accommodation capacity. China's carbon emissions from households have increased with the growth of the consumption scale. To accomplish the ambitious goals of reducing emissions, carbon emission reduction on the household side should not be neglected. Based on the 2012–2018 CFPS database, This paper examines the relationship between household carbon emissions(HCEs) and the digital economy by analyzing data on household consumption expenditure and carbon emission coefficients. Utilize instrumental variables and the "Broadband China" natural experiment to conduct robustness tests, and further clarify how the digital economy influences direct and indirect household carbon emissions. The study finds that (1) Direct HCEs witness an increase while indirect HCEs experience a decrease due to the digital economy. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) proposes to accelerate the development of the digital economy and promote "carbon neutrality". In 2020, China announced a "double carbon" target. In 2022, the size of China's digital economy has reached 7.5 trillion dollars, ranking second in the world. Against this background, this paper takes 211 cities in China from 2011 to 2019 as the research object and tries to sort out the impact of the development of the digital economy on the carbon efficiency of cities in order to find an effective path for cities to realize low-carbon development. The results of the study show that the development of the digital economy significantly improves the carbon efficiency level of Chinese cities. After a series of endogeneity and robustness tests, the conclusion still holds. Public environmental concern and technological innovation are the key mediating paths. In addition, the digital economy has a significant non-linear effect on the carbon efficiency of Chinese cities. On the one hand, the low-carbon effect of the digital economy is only realized when the level of digital economy development is lower than the critical value of 0.040 and higher than the critical value of 0.085; on the other hand, the lower the level of urban carbon efficiency is, the greater the effect of the digital economy on urban carbon efficiency. Further research shows that the digital economy has a significant spatial spillover effect on the improvement of urban carbon efficiency, and the development of the digital economy not only helps to improve the carbon efficiency level of the local city but also positively influences the improvement of the carbon efficiency of neighboring cities through the spatial spillover effect. The heterogeneity study found that in eastern cities and megacities, the digital economy has a more obvious effect on the improvement of carbon efficiency. Therefore, this paper takes China as an example and innovatively applies nighttime light data from a combination of two remote sensing satellites. And using spatial analysis methods to analyze the evolution of spatial and temporal patterns of electricity power consumption over a longer study time series. Meanwhile, this paper also uses the Tapio decoupling model to study the decoupling effect of electricity power consumption and economic growth in China. The results of the study show that, during the period 2000–2019, China's electricity power consumption was in an unbalanced state, with the eastern coastal region dominating. It also formed a gradient distribution from the coastal area to the inland area. In terms of spatial connection, it shows an unbalanced distribution pattern of "low in the west and high in the east". In addition, the spatial linkage of electricity power consumption among provinces is more than 93 % of weak linkage, and gradually increases to 97 %, indicating that the spatial linkage of electricity power consumption among regions is gradually weakening. The decoupling state of electricity power consumption in China is characterized by two types of decoupling: Weak decoupling and Expansive coupling. Global environmental problems are worsening. Among various regulatory measures, market-oriented approaches are most favored by governments worldwide. Using provincial panel data from 2004 to 2020, a multi-period DID model was hereby constructed to empirically study the pollution reduction effects of the pilot policy for carbon emissions trading in China. Findings of this paper could be listed as follows: (1) The pilot policy has achieved notable reductions in waste gas and solid waste, although its effect on wastewater pollutants has been less pronounced; (2) Pollution reduction in the pilot regions can be achieved by optimizing the energy consumption structure; (3) Significant variations in pollution reduction effects are observed between the Northern and Southern pilot regions, with notably stronger policy effects in the north across various pollutants compared to the south. Integrated Energy Systems (IES) play a pivotal role in achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. However, previous research in IES operation has mainly focused on energy flow constraints, neglecting the impacts of renewable energy output, energy prices, carbon emission, and storage status. To bridge this gap, this paper proposes a Comprehensive Self-Adaptive (CSA) operation strategy as a key component of our two-tier synergistic optimization method, optimizing an IES integrated with Concentrated Photovoltaic/Thermal systems. In the upper-tier capacity configuration, the proposed method considers the full life-cycle carbon emissions of equipment. In the lower-tier operational strategy optimization, the CSA operation strategy automatically adjusts energy generation, utilization, and storage by comprehensively evaluating hourly operating costs, hourly carbon emissions, and hourly storage benefits. Compared to traditional operation strategies and other adaptive methods, the newly developed strategy consistently demonstrates superior performance. When contrasted with separate energy systems, IES operating under the CSA operation strategy markedly stands out, achieving a cost savings rate of 25.87 %, a CO2 reduction rate of 61.54 %, and an electricity matching ratio of 91.24 %. Solar thermochemical cycling is a promising approach to utilizing solar energy to produce H 2 and CO, which can be further synthesized into liquid fuels via Fischer-Tropsch reactions, making storage and transportation easier. Despite the potential high theoretical efficiency, factors such as the high temperature and low oxygen partial pressure required for the reduction restrict the large-scale application of this technology. In the near-to-medium term, in order to accelerate the popularization and application of this technology, according to Le Chatelier's principle, the assisted reduction of methane can greatly reduce the demand for high-temperature materials and ultra-low oxygen partial pressure. However, the addition of methane will also bring additional challenges, such as carbon emissions and carbon deposition. Reducing the influence of factors such as material sintering and irreversible loss on system efficiency in the experiment will be essential for the development of this technology. This paper focuses on the methane-driven two-step thermochemical cycle hydrogen production process, summarizes its reaction mechanism, thermodynamic analysis, kinetic analysis, oxygen carrier material doping, and experimental research in detail, and comprehensively analyzes the effect of material properties and irreversible loss on the system. This paper has investigated the impact of operating parameters boundary for a novel preignition event on a 2.0L hydrogen direct injection (HDI) engine to address the challenge of abnormal combustion limiting the application of HDI engines. The identified characteristics of the event and its potential harm to the engine has been summarized. Experiments have shown that the novel preignition event predominantly occurred mainly during 170−80°CA BTDC, hence the name PEMC (preignition in the early/mid compression stroke) event, and caused a surge in cylinder pressure. In 77.2 % of the selected cases, the PEMC events resulted in increased NOx emissions. In 93.1 % and 91.5 % of the cases, there was a decrease in brake power and brake thermal efficiency, respectively. Unlike the low speed, high load preignition of gasoline engines, PEMC events were more likely to occur in the torque range of 70–100 Nm and could be monitored in a lean mixture environment with λ = 1.5–3.3. PEMC events were found in the interval of 180−320° CA BTDC at injection timing and were most intense at 240−250° CA BTDC. To prevent PEMC events completely, it is recommended to delay the injection timing beyond 180° CA BTDC. The paper has employed a model based on experimental data and Random Forest algorithms to predict PEMC events. The model demonstrated an accuracy of 98.76 % and 97.69 % for the training and test data, respectively. In an urbanized world, the challenges posed by climate change need to be met through innovative planning for cities and regions. Urban resilience demands that cities adopt new models centered on carbon neutrality, ecosystem services and biodiversity enhancement, circularity, and social inclusion. In light of the multiple interdependencies of metropolitan systems and the natural and territorial potentialities present on their fringes, this paper discusses the metropolitan fringes as strategic for urban resilience and sustainable transitions. By combining a mixed-method analysis of adaptation and urban plans with semi-structured interviews performed with key technicians, the analysis is focused on an inter-municipal fringe zone within the Barcelona Metropolitan Area - the Besòs territory. Aiming to contribute to the discussions related to Territorial innovation for cities and regions, the paper offers a multi-scale perspective and illustrates innovative urban transformation strategies across scales. The results highlight that governance and multiple planning and participation instances together with technical and financial support are essential for consensus building in an incremental process. Furthermore, the planning strategies of the case study sought to integrate and enhance the green and blue infrastructures and transform consolidated urban areas with a focus on energy transition, sustainable mobility, circularity, and social inclusion. Marine microalgae play a vital role in maintaining the balance of global marine ecosystems and achieving carbon neutrality goals. In this paper, 21 species of common non-setae microalgae in China Sea are taken as the research object, and a photomicrograph classification system based on visual perception is designed to automatically identify the species of microalgae according to their biological morphological characteristics. The main work includes: (1) Extract the microalgal cell targets from the photomicrographs. Aiming at non-setae microalgae, a non-interactive GrabCut method combined with salient region detection is proposed to extract single or multiple cells. First, a boundary correlation-based salient region detection algorithm is employed to localize cell regions. Then the generated saliency map is pre-segmented, and the position information in the pre-segmentation result is used to construct a rectangular window and a mask image respectively, and use them to initialize the GrabCut algorithm. Then iteratively execute GrabCut. Remove noise and smooth cell edges by extracting larger contours and median filtering, respectively. During cell extraction, similarity detection is introduced to exclude pseudo-cell regions. (2) 19 shape features such as body ratio, eccentricity, and rectangularity of microalgal cells are extracted, and the Support Vector Machine is used as a classifier to perform pattern recognition on the feature data. The experimental results show that the recognition scheme proposed in this paper has achieved a relatively ideal recognition effect on the non-setae microalgae, with a recognition accuracy rate of 81.76%. The use of renewable carbon sources as a substitute for fossil resources is an extensively essential and fascinating research area for addressing the current issues related to climate and future fuel requirements. The utilization of lignocellulosic biomasses as a source for renewable fuel/chemicals/mesoporous biochar derivative is gaining considerable attention due to the neutral carbon cycle. The cellulose and hemicellulose are highly utilized components of biomass, and on the other hand, lignin is a plentiful, under-utilized component of the lignocellulosic biomass in 2G ethanol and paper industry. Significant researchers have contributed towards lignin valorization, with a central goal of the production and upgradation of phenolic, unstable, acidic and oxygen-containing bio-oil to valuable chemicals or fuel grade hydrocarbons. This review is aimed to present the lignin valorization potential from pretreatment of biomass as an initial step to the final process, i.e., lignin bio-oil upgradation with mechanistic pathways. The review offers the source, structure, composition of various lignocellulosic biomasses, followed by a discussion of various pre-treatment techniques for biomass depolymerization. Different thermochemical approaches for bio-oil production from dry and wet biomasses are highlighted with emphasis on pyrolysis and liquefaction. The physical, chemical properties of lignin bio-oil and different upgradation methods for bio-oil as well as its model compounds are thoroughly discussed. It also addresses the related activity, selectivity, stability of numerous catalysts with reaction pathways and kinetics in a broad manner. The challenges and future research opportunities of lignin valorization are discussed in an attempt to place lignin as a feedstock for the generation of valuable chemical and fuel grade hydrocarbons. Developments in advanced coal combustion technologies have presented several promising solutions probable to be integrated with biomass combustion. Indirect supercritical carbon dioxide cycle incorporated with oxygen fuel circulating fluidized bed combustor was proposed to improve the power efficiency for domestic waste biomass resources, such as waste paper, waste wood, and cow manure. The thermodynamic analysis of the proposed cycle was analysed using Aspen Plus software within the excess oxygen ratio ranged between 0.97 and 1.05 and compared with coal fuelled supercritical carbon dioxide cycle. As excess oxygen ratio reached 1.01, with approximation of 27% of inlet oxygen concentrations, energy penalty by the compression and purification unit was minimized. The maximum net efficiency was 35.76% for waste paper, 27.74% for waste wood, and 31.12% for cow manure. The stored carbon dioxide at the same excess oxygen ratio for waste wood, waste paper and cow manure was 92.60%, 92.33% and 90.91% respectively. The proposed power cycle fuelled with waste paper resulted in a net efficiency slightly lower than coal fuelled power cycle. This work highlighted the potential of proposed biomass oxygen fuel circulating fluidized bed combustor integrated supercritical carbon dioxide cycle to serve as a future power technology for negative carbon dioxide emission. Dry reforming of methane (DRM) is an effective method for achieving carbon reduction and carbon neutrality by directly converting two greenhouse gases, CH 4 and CO 2 , into value-added products. However, catalysts used in this process are prone to metal sintering and carbon deposition, which are major obstacles. Thus, the design of high-performance catalysts is crucial for the success of dry reforming technology. In this paper, a series of Co-based catalysts modified with different rare earth metals (Y, Tb, Gd) and γ-Al 2 O 3 as the support were prepared using the conventional co-impregnation method. The effects of the introduction of rare earth metals additives on the activity and resistance to carbon build-up of the catalysts were investigated. The catalysts were analyzed using various characterization techniques. The results showed that Y and Tb as additives could effectively improve the activity and stability of the catalyst. However, the Gd modified Co-based catalyst had a large specific surface area but was less favorable for the DRM reaction. The best performance catalyst was achieved with the 10Co–5Y/γ-Al 2 O 3 under 750 °C with CH 4 and CO 2 conversions of 91.79% and 98.33%, respectively. This is mainly due to the fact that the introduction of Y enhances the electron transfer between Co and metal oxides, generating more oxygen vacancies and base vacancies on the surface, thus enhancing the adsorption and activation of CO 2. The 10Co–5Y/γ-Al 2 O 3 catalyst demonstrated excellent DRM performance even after 20 h at 750 °C. Moreover, we proposed a hypothesis regarding the mechanism of resistance to carbon build-up. This study provides a reasonable idea to design Co-based catalysts with resistance to sintering and carbon accumulation to improve the performance of reforming catalysts. With rapid industrialization, rising fossil fuel consumption, and environmental concerns, developing clean and green energy is an inescapable option. Hydrogen has emerged as a significant potential energy carrier and a viable future replacement fuel for fossil fuels due to its renewable and pollution-free properties. Previous review papers have significantly contributed to the body of literature on the various technologies for producing hydrogen by revealing key insights into their working principles and conditions, as well as the economic and environmental aspects. In addition, they also highlighted the potential pathways to enable the application of these technologies in the context of carbon neutrality. However, these studies have not broken down the evolutionary patterns and developmental progress of either fossil fuel-based or renewable energy-based technologies used to produce hydrogen. In addition, the currently available literature does not contain the most recent research that focuses on the evolution and life cycle of each technology category from a chronological point of view. The key drivers, countries/regions, and their contributions to the field's development have received little attention. As a result, it is critical to monitor technological advances in hydrogen energy production and investigate the key enablers of these advancements. Against this backdrop, the current study employs patent analysis tools to achieve four primary goals: (1) to track the development trends in the field of hydrogen production from 2000 to 2019; (2) to identify and compare the recent development trends in the last five years according to the feedstock, i.e., fossil fuel, water, and biomass-based technologies; (3) to predict the technology life cycle of the two main groups of hydrogen production technologies (fossil and renewable); (4) to identify and compare the key drivers of hydrogen production technologies from a statistical standpoint. In the context of China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals (the "dual carbon" goals), balancing economic development, environmental protection, and low carbon is a high priority. Therefore, exploring the impact of digital finance on carbon dioxide (CO 2) emissions is crucial. In this paper, we select the panel data of 241 cities in China from 2011 to 2020 and use the double logarithm model after verifying model forms to explore the impact of digital finance on urban CO 2 emissions. The results show a significant negative correlation between the level of digital finance and the intensity of CO 2 emissions. Heterogeneity analysis results show that the eastern region exhibits the greatest inhibitory effect, while the western region exhibits the lowest. The three sub-dimensions of digital finance can all reduce carbon emissions, but the usage depth dimension has the greatest reduction effect, while the coverage breadth dimension is slightly lower. Through mediating effect tests from two dimensions, we find that digital finance can achieve CO 2 emission reduction by promoting scientific and technological innovation. This paper conducts a stated preference (SP) survey by integrating vehicle attributes, policy attributes, and psychological characteristics to explore the mechanisms of personal carbon trading (PCT) and tradable driving credit (TDC), as well as consumer preferences for different types of policy instruments. Using a hybrid choice model (HCM), the empirical results obtained from 1546 Chinese consumers reveal that PCT and TDC are more powerful than most existing policy instruments in encouraging consumers to adopt electric vehicles (EVs). Moreover, although psychological characteristics (i.e., environmental awareness, perceived environmental benefits, and subjective norms) play an important role in explaining consumers' EV adoption behaviour, PCT and TDC primarily alter consumers' EV adoption decisions through economic motivations rather than through psychological motivations. Most importantly, the implementation of PCT and TDC enables consumers to adopt EVs while having no substantial impact on their intention to purchase conventional fuel vehicles (CFVs), thereby laying the groundwork for PCT and TDC to function effectively. This paper contributes to the EV adoption literature by systematically investigating the combined effects of different factors, especially market-oriented policy instruments, on consumers' vehicle adoption decisions. The carbon neutrality goal places greater demands on integrated energy system (IES) in rural areas. In line with this trend, a multi-objective stochastic-robust based selection-allocation-operation cooperative optimization model is established for planning of rural IES in this paper. Firstly, this paper construct three typical IESs at three levels (user, township and user-township interaction) and make economic selection. Secondly, in order to coordinate the objectives of technology-economy-environment and solve the multiple uncertainties existing in the system, a multi-objective stochastic-robust planning model is proposed. In the model, the objective function introduces indicators such as total cost, primary energy resource efficiency and renewable energy consumption rate. Then constructing stochastic hierarchical scenarios to characterize the stochastic uncertainty of parameters in the time dimension. And introducing typical scenarios into the box sets which characterize the supply-demand sides uncertainty. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is performed to discuss the influence of robustness parameters and biogas prices. The annual total cost of the user-township interaction system is 53.8 % and 8.4 % lower than that of the other two systems, respectively. And from the allocation results of selected system, primary energy resource efficiency is 0.57, total cost is 1.81 × 106 USD and renewable energy consumption rate is 99.46 %. In addition, from the operation results, it is analyzed that the output of the equipment is perfectly balanced with the user's load. Finally, it is obtained by sensitivity analysis that uncertainty budget and biogas price have an impact on the selection of discrete equipment, the capacity of continuous equipment and the total cost.
