The article focuses on the proposals of the United States for a world arms census for control of atomic energy. The author reflects that the United States' proposal for arms count in its effort to control atomic armaments brings no significant change in the course of the negotiation. The proposal rather is a step back because it did not explicitly state that the complete arms count should be agreed upon in advance of the negotiation on limitation. He opines that the proposal is good only as a working paper for better plans in future negotiations. He suggests on the agreement to combine the arms count provisions with the limitations plan.

In textbooks of statistics it is sometimes suggested (e.g. in [2] and [3]) to “check” that a random variable has a normal distribution by using normal probability paper. One then makes a graph of the sample cumulative distribution function on a normal probability paper and looks if there is little or much deviation from a straight line. The article provides notes to the contributors of papers to the journal "Population Studies". All typing, including footnotes, references, extracts and quotations to be double-spaced and on one side of the paper, which should preferably be A4 in size. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper and should preferably be typed at the bottom of the page to which they relate, or alternatively following the last page of the article, with triple spacing between each note. Three copies of all typing complete with figures, tables and references should be prepared. Tins paper is intended as an effort at taking-stock of the reference group concept after nearly three decades of use, the latter two of which have been marked by its more than ample employment. Its popularity indeed has so frequently led to its serving as an all-purpose post hoc explanation of behavior that it has led to the wry definition, "Your reference group is a group that you behave like and you behave like them because they're your reference group" (Cohen, 1962: 104). The article focuses on the resolution, submitted by the North American Assembly of State Arts Agencies, regarding arts and education in the U.S. The resolution aims to create a better learning environment for students and to support the teachers working toward better educational quality in American schools. The North American Assembly believes that arts are fundamental in American public education to encourage an open society and that they give way to the acceptance of cultural democracy. In addition, the committee considers an open teaching method in schools as a way to nurture students' capacities.

The article focuses on the increasing amount of pulp and paper mill fluid waste in California. In a study conducted by the American chemical Society, it is stated that the industry's daily discharge of oxygen-demanding substances was comparable to the sewage of 43.6 million persons. In response to the mounting industrial pollution, various types of treatment equipment were installed by the paper companies. Kimberly-Clark Corporation has formulated techniques to meet the unprecedented quality requirements for the effluents from its new Shasta division pulp and paper operation in Anderson.
