Sixth generation (6G) wireless networks operating in terahertz frequency region are significant solutions to the increasing number of telecommunication devices and the demand for faster data transmission. However, few dielectric materials exhibiting an ultralow relative dielectric constant (εr), loss tangent (tanδ), and high mechanical strength are found suited for 6G telecommunication. In this study, we developed lightweight ceramic foams by directly sintering glass hollow spheres. The effects of sintering temperatures on their mechanical performance, and terahertz optical and dielectric properties were systematically investigated. The final compositions of ceramic foams contain glass, cristobalite, quartz, and wollastonite. The crystalline content increases with increasing sintering temperature. The ceramic foams sintered at low temperatures of 700–850°C exhibit a high porosity ranging from 74.6% to 87.3%, ultralow εr ranging from 1.41 to 1.83, and tanδ of ∼0.011 at 0.5 THz, as well as high compressive strength ranging from 10.1 to 27.4 MPa, which could be promising materials for 6G telecommunication. Abstract: A novel method for fabrication of highly porous barium strontium titanate (BST) ceramic foams based on particle‐stabilized foaming method was developed for the first time, in which propyl gallate (PG) was employed as BST particle modifier. The results showed that the stability of wet BST foams closely depends on the pH value and PG concentration, which could be explained by the adsorption behavior of PG on BST particle surface. BST ceramic foams with dense, uniform, and closed pore and defect‐free wall were obtained. The pore size and porosity can be well controlled by adjusting solid loading and sintering temperature. It was revealed that not only sintering temperature but also solid loading significantly influenced the growth of BST grain. The BST ceramic foams exhibited high porosity in the range of 81%‐95%, low dielectric constant in the range of 47‐150, and low dielectric loss below 0.0025. The BST ceramic foams with higher porosity presented a tendency of lower dielectric constant and the fitting results indicated that the natural logarithm of dielectric constant was linear correlated with porosity. Abstract The mechanical strength of highly porous ceramic foams shows significant attenuation with the increase of porosity, especially for ceramic foams with very high porosity level above 95%. Ultra-light bulk composite ceramic foams were fabricated via introducing 20 wt% zirconia in alumina-based cell wall, aiming at improving mechanical strength of alumina based ceramic foams. The preparation and stability of alumina and zirconia particles synergistically stabilized foams were investigated. The obtained bulk ceramic foams manifested an exciting combination of both high porosity above 96% and excellent specific compressive strength, due to their closed pore structure, defect-free cell wall with uniform thickness, and uniformly distributed zirconia grains in alumina matrix. The alumina/zirconia composite ceramic foams with porosity of 96.7% exhibited compressive strength of 1.11 ± 0.07 MPa, which was much higher than that of alumina ceramic foams in the case of same porosity. A novel approach to fabricate mullite ceramic foams with high porosity and mechanical strength using fly ash hollow spheres (FAHSs) as the only raw material was reported for the first time, in which FAHSs served as both matrix and pore-forming agent. It was demonstrated that uniform FAHS ceramic foams without cracks could be fabricated by both direct stack sintering method and gel-casting route. The effect of sintering temperature on linear shrinkage, porosity, phase composition and mechanical properties was investigated. With the increase of sintering temperature from 1200 °C to 1350 °C, the fracture mechanism changed from fracturing along FAHSs to fracturing across FAHSs, and the compressive strength of the FAHS ceramic foams increased from 4.4 MPa to 33.4 MPa. The FAHS ceramic foams exhibited high porosity in the range of 73–81% and high mechanical strength, which benefited from the dense assembling of small FAHSs with natural diameter distribution and excellent wall-thickness uniformity. Abstract We herein report the design and preparation of ceramic particle-stabilized emulsions/foams with distinct ultraviolet light (UV) response, which can be used for the rapid fabrication of ceramic foams with complex shape, for synthesis of ceramic hollow spheres, and can potentially be used for 3D printing lightweight and hierarchical ceramics with porous skeleton. Photocurable foams/emulsions stabilized by ceramic particles are achieved for the first time using photosensitive oligomer as oil phase and/or using photosensitive aqueous solution containing acrylamide monomer as water phase. Four kinds of photocurable emulsions are demonstrated by adjusting emulsion structure and photosensitive phase. We further synthesize internal multiple-pore structured capsules and lightweight nanoparticle-assembled capsules in micron-scale based on the photocurable particle-stabilized, by separating emulsion into small droplets via diluting and stirring, followed by rapid curing under UV. This new strategy may potentially open opportunities for the rapid and cost-effective synthesis of high-output ceramic capsule materials. The synthesized thin-shell alumina capsules exhibit large specific area surface of 323.18 m2/g as well as uniform mesoporous structure in shell with average pore diameter of 3.4 nm, which has potential application in the fields of adsorption, load and release of materials and thermal insulation.
