Studies focusing on China and Russia, whose relationship is of key importance to the configuration of the international system, have been evolving dynamically in various disciplines. We analyze the evolution of this research by focusing on the fields of International Relations and Area Studies. This novel bibliometric study employs Biblioshiny, AntConc, and VOSviewer to analyze 947 publications collected from the Web of Science Core Collection, focusing specifically on 266 publications in International Relations and Area Studies. While mapping research on China and Russia over the last three decades (1990–2019), we identify the main trends regarding the annual distribution of papers, document types, dominant journals, collaboration networks between countries, and the most productive authors. We also establish prevailing research themes resulting from keyword analysis and their respective growth over time, as well as the density of the most frequently used terms and methods employed in the selected research fields. Finally, we identify fruitful avenues for further research, while also demonstrating how the bibliometric approach can inform and direct developments on China and Russia studies. Entrepreneurship has risen to a national development strategy to drive China's economic transition. Previous regional studies of Chinese entrepreneurship have focused mostly on metropolitan areas or cities. This research contributes to the literature by understanding entrepreneurship in Chinese peripheral regions and meanwhile considering sectoral variations. Based on records of 9.26 million newly registered enterprises, we present the spatial–temporal dynamics of startup activities in China's peripheral counties from 2004 to 2016. We further conduct panel regressions to explore the geographically bounded influencing factors of total and sectoral entrepreneurship in these peripheral regions. We provide evidence on the positive impacts of macro-economic conditions, industry specialization, county size, and patent knowledge on general entrepreneurship. These findings to some extent vary by sector. We also find positive spillover effects from the nearby large metropolitan center on peripheral entrepreneurship. These findings shed light on the characteristics of sectoral entrepreneurial ecosystems and entrepreneurship policy in peripheral regions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Suicide prevention has become a public health issue of great concern. Previous studies proved that ambient temperature had an impact on suicide death, but few studies focus on regional studies in large cities. We aimed to estimate the association between ambient temperature and suicide in 31 capital cities in China during 2008~2013. Distributed lag non-linear model was used to explore the relationship between ambient temperature and suicide, adjusting for long-term trend, seasonality, and humidity confounders. Multivariate meta-analysis was used to pool the city-specific estimates to explore the overall relative risk in China. High temperature had a significant impact on suicide death. The country-level relative risk of high temperature on suicide was 1.37 (95% CI, 0.96~2.57), and the RR was higher in male and age < 65-year-old group than that in female and age ≥ 65-year-old group. There has no consistent pattern of associations in city-level with sex and age. The high temperature has a greater impact on suicide in south region compared with north region.
