The goal of this paper is to estimate object's 6D pose based on the texture-less dataset. The pose of each projection view is obtained by rendering the 3D model of each object, and then the orientation feature of the object is implicitly represented by the latent space obtained from the RGB image. The 3D rotation of the object is estimated by establishing the codebook based on a template matching architecture. To build the latent space from the RGB images, this paper proposes a network based on a variant Adversarial Autoencoder (Makhzani et al. in Computer Science, 2015). To train the network, we use the dataset without pose annotation, and the encoder and decoder do not have a structural symmetry. The encoder is inspired by the existing model (Yang et al. in proceedings of IJCAI, 2018), (Yang et al. in proceedings 11 of CVPR, 2019) that incorporates the function of feature extraction from two different streams. Based on this network, the latent feature vector that implicitly represents the orientation of the object is obtained from the RGB image. Experimental results show that the method in this paper can realize the 6D pose estimation of the object and the result accuracy is better than the advanced method (Sundermeyer et al. in proceedings of ECCV, 2018). This study focuses on enhancing security in wireless body area networks (WBANs) through the application of Support Vector Machine (SVM)-based anomaly detection. The main problem addressed is the insufficient attention to security measures in WBANs, particularly in terms of secure connections and mitigation strategies. The proposed solution involves utilizing SVM to categorize security measures for WBAN telehealth solutions based on relevant attributes, ensuring ongoing utilization. The primary results showcase the successful prediction of vital signs with a remarkable accuracy of 98.63% using SVM, highlighting its effectiveness in enhancing security in WBANs. This paper explores the application of Support Vector Machines (SVMs) to enhance WBAN security updates and intelligence. Specific access management approaches may prove more effective during crisis situations. This study categorizes security measures for WBAN telehealth solutions exclusively using SVM based on relevant security attributes, ensuring their ongoing utilization. Employing SVM, the study predicts a heart rate of 89.087 beats per minute, an RR interval of 673.5 ms, and a QT interval of 271.3 ms, achieving a remarkable accuracy of 98.63 percent with a training dataset comprising 80 percent of the data and a testing dataset encompassing the remaining 20 percent. Emotion analysis is the key technology in human–computer emotional interaction and has gradually become a research hotspot in the field of artificial intelligence. The key problems of emotion analysis based on EEG are feature extraction and classifier design. The existing methods of emotion analysis mainly use machine learning and rely on manually extracted features. As an end-to-end method, deep learning can automatically extract EEG features and classify them. However, most of the deep learning models of emotion recognition based on EEG still need manual screening and data pre-processing, and the accuracy and convenience are not high enough. Therefore, this paper proposes a CNN-Bi-LSTM-Attention model to automatically extract the features and classify emotions based on EEG signals. The original EEG data are used as input, a CNN and a Bi-LSTM network are used for feature extraction and fusion, and then the electrode channel weights are balanced through the attention mechanism layer. Finally, the EEG signals are classified to different kinds of emotions. An emotion classification experiment based on EEG is conducted on the SEED dataset to evaluate the performance of the proposed model. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively classify EEG emotions. The method was assessed on two distinctive classification tasks, one with three and one with four target classes. The average ten-fold cross-validation classification accuracy of this method is 99.55% and 99.79%, respectively, corresponding to three and four classification tasks, which is significantly better than the other methods. It can be concluded that our method is superior to the existing methods in emotion recognition, which can be widely used in many fields, including modern neuroscience, psychology, neural engineering, and computer science as well. Covert communication is an method that plays an important role in secure data transmission. The technology embeds covert information into data and propagates it through covert channels. The communication quality depends on the choice of channel and data embedding techniques. Recently, blockchain has emerged to become the preferred channel to carry out covert communication for its decentralization and anonymity features. Existing covert transaction methods are constructed transaction-by-transaction, which makes them immune to text analysis-based detection methods. However, it is easy to expose their features on the transaction graph level. Unfortunately, there is yet no method to detect covert transactions by the features of transaction graph. In this paper, we propose a covert transaction detection method based on graph structure. By analyzing the statistical features of graph structure for addresses, we can infer whether they are the participants of covert transactions. Furthermore, we design a protection method of covert transactions based on graph generation networks. By adjusting the structural features between different addresses, our method enhances the security of multiple interrelated covert transactions. In this paper, a network consisting of an object localization module and a discriminative feature extraction module is designed for fine-grained image retrieval (FGIR). In order to reduce the interference of complex backgrounds, the object localization module is introduced into the network before feature extraction. By selecting the convolutional feature descriptors, the main object is separated from the background, and thus, most of the interference is filtered out. Further, in order to improve the overall performance of the network, a discriminative filter bank is introduced into the network as the local feature detector. Hence, the local discriminative features can be extracted directly from the original feature map. Crowd counting is a task of intelligent applications, and its operation efficiency is very important. However, in order to obtain a better counting performance, most of the existing works often design larger and more complex network structures, which will result in them occupying considerable memory, time and other resources at runtime, seriously limiting their deployment scope and making it difficult to be widely used in practical scenarios. In this paper, in order to overcome the above problems, we propose an effective lightweight encoding-decoding crowd counting network, named Lw-Count. Specifically, in the encoding process, we design an efficient and lightweight convolution module (ELCM), which extracts the crowd features in the network through a refined ghost block to reduce the network parameters and computing cost, and solves the problem of inaccurate counting caused by uneven crowd distribution through spatial group normalization (SGN). In the decoding process, we design a scale regression module (SRM) to reduce the error details and chessboard effect caused by linear interpolation and deconvolution. In addition, we design a new loss function, which enhances the spatial correlation of the density map and the sensitivity of the crowd through a regional normalized cross-correlation loss and counting loss, to ensure the counting accuracy. Extensive experiments on five mainstream datasets demonstrate that Lw-Count achieves an optimal trade-off between counting performance and running speed compared with other methods. In view of the limitations of traditional statistical methods in dealing with multifactor and nonlinear data and the inadequacy of classical machine learning algorithms in dealing with and predicting data with high dimensions and large sample sizes, this paper proposes an operational risk prediction model based on an automatic encoder and convolutional neural networks. First, we use an automatic encoder to extract features of motion risk factors and obtain feature components that can highly represent risk. Secondly, based on the causal relationship between sports risk and risk characteristics, a convolutional neural network with a dual convolution layer and dual pooling layer topology is constructed. Finally, the sports risk prediction model is established by combining the auto-coded feature components with the topology of the convolutional neural network. Compared with other algorithms, the proposed method can effectively analyze and extract risk characteristics and has a high prediction accuracy. At the same time, it promotes the integration of sports science and computer science and provides a basis for the application of machine learning in the field of sports risk prediction. Capturing long-range dependencies during feature extraction is crucial for video-based person re-identification (re-id) since it would help to tackle many challenging problems such as occlusion and dramatic pose variation. Moreover, capturing subtle differences, such as bags and glasses, is indispensable to distinguish similar pedestrians. In this paper, we propose a novel and efficacious Statistic Attention (SA) block which can capture both the long-range dependencies and subtle differences. SA block leverages high-order statistics of feature maps, which contain both long-range and high-order information. By modeling relations with these statistics, SA block can explicitly capture long-range dependencies with less time complexity. In addition, high-order statistics usually concentrate on details of feature maps and can perceive the subtle differences between pedestrians. In this way, SA block is capable of discriminating pedestrians with subtle differences. Furthermore, this lightweight block can be conveniently inserted into existing deep neural networks at any depth to form Statistic Attention Network (SANet). To evaluate its performance, we conduct extensive experiments on two challenging video re-id datasets, showing that our SANet outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, to show the generalizability of SANet, we evaluate it on three image re-id datasets and two more general image classification datasets, including ImageNet. Since Electroencephalogram (EEG) is resistant to camouflage, it has been a reliable data source for objective emotion recognition. EEG is naturally multi-rhythm and multi-channel, based on which we can extract multiple features for further processing. In EEG-based emotion recognition, it is important to investigate whether there exist some common features shared by different emotional states, and the specific features associated with each emotional state. However, such fundamental problem is ignored by most of the existing studies. To this end, we propose a Joint label-Common and label-Specific Features Exploration (JCSFE) model for semi-supervised cross-session EEG emotion recognition in this paper. To be specific, JCSFE imposes the $\ell _{\text {2,1}}$ -norm on the projection matrix to explore the label-common EEG features and simultaneously the $\ell _{{1}}$ -norm is used to explore the label-specific EEG features. Besides, a graph regularization term is introduced to enforce the data local invariance property, i.e., similar EEG samples are encouraged to have the same emotional state. Results obtained from the SEED-IV and SEED-V emotional data sets experimentally demonstrate that JCSFE not only achieves superior emotion recognition performance in comparison with the state-of-the-art models but also provides us with a quantitative method to identify the label-common and label-specific EEG features in emotion recognition. This paper presents the novel task of bluespotted ribbontail (BR) ray (Taeniura lymma) recognition using deep learning based computer vision methods to enable the identification of specific individuals of this species. Mapping the specific individuals in relation to location and time will allow marine researchers to understand their movement patterns, habitat choice, life span, size of the population and more – data which could allow monitoring and establishing a tailor-made conservation plan for this species. Our work is pioneer on this recognition problem. We give a detailed description of the three basic steps of detection, feature extraction and recognition in this vision problem and perform experiments to explore the system configuration and what improves the performance. A feature extraction enhancement as well as a crucial effect of a split into different main poses are demonstrated. Though the precision results achieved in this paper are still moderate and should be further improved, they are nevertheless promising and reasonable for practical use if the six best matches are chosen. This paper designs a face recognition system based on a convolutional neural network. Compared with the traditional face recognition method, the convolutional neural network model does not need manual complex and time-consuming feature extraction algorithm design, only need to design an effective neural network model, and then end-to-end training on a large number of training samples for simple and efficient training, can get a good identification effect. Attention mechanism has recently attracted increasing attentions in the field of facial action unit (AU) detection. By finding the region of interest of each AU with the attention mechanism, AU-related local features can be captured. Most of the existing attention based AU detection works use prior knowledge to predefine fixed attentions or refine the predefined attentions within a small range, which limits their capacity to model various AUs. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end deep learning based attention and relation learning framework for AU detection with only AU labels, which has not been explored before. In particular, multi-scale features shared by each AU are learned first, and then both channel-wise and spatial attentions are adaptively learned to select and extract AU-related local features. Moreover, pixel-level relations for AUs are further captured to refine spatial attentions so as to extract more relevant local features. Without changing the network architecture, our framework can be easily extended for AU intensity estimation. Extensive experiments show that our framework (i) soundly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for both AU detection and AU intensity estimation on the challenging BP4D, DISFA, FERA 2015, and BP4D+ benchmarks, (ii) can adaptively capture the correlated regions of each AU, and (iii) also works well under severe occlusions and large poses. Handwriting recognition and analysis has been an active area of research in the last two decades. Handwriting analysis is being studied in various fields of science, such as graphology, neurology, psychology, and computer science. Furthermore, automated handwriting analysis has several applications, including forensic, security, medical, and disease prediction. This paper presents the most recent handwriting analysis techniques and advancements available in the literature for age and gender classification/detection. Different steps, including feature extraction and classification, frequently used in the literature for age and gender detection, are discussed, and the presented works are classified according to the applied feature extraction and classification methods. The online and offline benchmark databases are also reviewed. We used a text mining technique to perform a quantitative content analysis of the presented research and better understand the co-occurrence network diagrams of age and gender classification/detection. According to the World Health Organization, millions of infections and a lot of deaths have been recorded worldwide since the emergence of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Since 2020, a lot of computer science researchers have used convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to develop interesting frameworks to detect this disease. However, poor feature extraction from the chest X-ray images and the high computational cost of the available models introduce difficulties for an accurate and fast COVID-19 detection framework. Moreover, poor feature extraction has caused the issue of 'the curse of dimensionality', which will negatively affect the performance of the model. Feature selection is typically considered as a preprocessing mechanism to find an optimal subset of features from a given set of all features in the data mining process. Thus, the major purpose of this study is to offer an accurate and efficient approach for extracting COVID-19 features from chest X-rays that is also less computationally expensive than earlier approaches. To achieve the specified goal, we design a mechanism for feature extraction based on shallow conventional neural network (SCNN) and used an effective method for selecting features by utilizing the newly developed optimization algorithm, Q-Learning Embedded Sine Cosine Algorithm (QLESCA). Support vector machines (SVMs) are used as a classifier. Five publicly available chest X-ray image datasets, consisting of 4848 COVID-19 images and 8669 non-COVID-19 images, are used to train and evaluate the proposed model. The performance of the QLESCA is evaluated against nine recent optimization algorithms. The proposed method is able to achieve the highest accuracy of 97.8086% while reducing the number of features from 100 to 38. Handwriting recognition is a multi-step process that includes data collection, preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification in order to create a final prediction. This process becomes more and more delicate when dealing with the scriptures of college or secondary school learners. The primary purpose of this research is to offer an improved model for classifying images of computer science words vocabulary written by learners. Indeed, the aim is to develop a reliable handwriting recognition system for the benefit of the educational field. The proposed recognition model based on the combination of four pre-trained CNNs models, namely ResNet50 V2, MobileNet V2, ResNet101 V2, and Xception. Our earlier established Computer Science Vocabulary Dataset (CSVD) is used to build and validate the proposed concatenated model. Then, we have applied preprocessing operations to reduce irregularities, like fuzzy letters and distorted undefined symbols. The proposed CNN model is trained on the concatenated features generated by the four pre-trained CNNs using a parallel deep feature extraction approach. To evaluate the performance of our recognition system, we have used different common evaluation measures. The average accuracy of the proposed system for handwritten words vocabulary is 99.97%, and the overall loss rate is 3.56%. • Fileless malware has no signature because it does not leverage executable files. • We suggest a memory-based approach for detecting and analyzing fileless malware. • This proposed method offers useful insight for the experts working in this field. • The proposed methodʼs applicability was demonstrated using a real case study sample. The rapid advancements in cyber-attack strategies are in parallel with the measures for detection, analysis, and prevention. Attackers have recently developed fileless malware that can simply bypass existing security mechanisms. Researchers publish reports to help discover fileless malware and to better understand the threatʼs scope to counteract it. However, with the lack of studies on fileless malware regarding the classification and the scale of the threat, they have not been thoroughly analyzed. As a result, in this research, we explored the most recent advancements in fileless malware prevention and detection and highlighted future research challenges. We also propose an analytical approach based on the attack strategies and attributes of the selected sample. Our method simplifies feature extraction and reduces processing load. Furthermore, compared to the static analysis we do not need for decompression and unpacking for the analysis. We applied the proposed method on a real case example. It has been seen that information about fileless malware detection, working mechanism, attack method and attacker named "Kovter" can be accessed. Our approach is advantageous and can be applied as a new technique for fileless malware detection to protect systems from cyber threats. Automatic recording devices have emerged as a trending tool to assist field observations, contributing to biodiversity monitoring on large spatio-temporal scales. However, manually processing huge volumes of recordings is challenging. Consequently, there has been a growing interest in automatic bird vocalization recognition in recent years. Automatic bird vocalization recognition technology has advanced from classical pattern recognition to deep learning (DL), with significantly improved recognition performance. This paper reviews related works on DL-based automatic bird vocalization recognition technology in the last decade. In this review, we present the current state of research in the three key areas of pre-processing, feature extraction and recognition methods involved in automatic bird vocalization recognition. The related datasets, evaluation metrics and software are also summarized. Finally, existing challenges along with opportunities for future work are highlighted. We conclude that, while DL-based automatic bird vocalization recognition has made recent advances in specific species, more robust denoising approaches, larger public datasets, and stronger generalization capabilities of feature extraction and recognition are required to achieve reliable and general bird recognition in the wild. We expect that this review will serve as a firm foundation for new researchers working in the field of DL-based automatic bird vocalization recognition technologies, as well as become an insightful guide for computer science and ecology experts. The state-of-the-art approaches to targeted aspect-based sentiment analysis (TABSA) are mostly built on deep neural networks with attention mechanisms. One problem is that embeddings of targets and aspects are either pre-trained from large external corpora or randomly initialized. We argue that affective commonsense knowledge and words indicative of sentiment could be used to learn better target and aspect embeddings. We therefore propose an embedding refinement framework called RAEC (Refining Affective Embedding from Context), in which sentiment concepts extracted from affective commonsense knowledge and word relative location information are incorporated to derive context-affective embeddings. Furthermore, a sparse coefficient vector is exploited in refining the embeddings of targets and aspects separately. In this way, embeddings of targets and aspects can capture the highly relevant affective words. Experimental results on two benchmark datasets show that our framework can be easily integrated with existing embedding-based TABSA models and achieves state-of-the-art results compared to models relying on pre-trained word embeddings or built on other embedding refinement methods. We target the problem named unsupervised domain adaptive semantic segmentation. A key in this campaign consists in reducing the domain shift, so that a classifier based on labeled data from one domain can generalize well to other domains. With the advancement of adversarial learning method, recent works prefer the strategy of aligning the marginal distribution in the feature spaces for minimizing the domain discrepancy. However, based on the observance in experiments, only focusing on aligning global marginal distribution but ignoring the local joint distribution alignment fails to be the optimal choice. Other than that, the noisy factors existing in the feature spaces, which are not relevant to the target task, entangle with the domain invariant factors improperly and make the domain distribution alignment more difficult. To address those problems, we introduce two new modules, Significance-aware Information Bottleneck (SIB) and Category-level alignment (CLA), to construct a purified embedding-based category-level adversarial network. As the name suggests, our designed network, CLAN, can not only disentangle the noisy factors and suppress their influences for target tasks but also utilize those purified features to conduct a more delicate level domain calibration, i.e., global marginal distribution and local joint distribution alignment simultaneously. In three domain adaptation tasks, i.e., GTA5 $\rightarrow$ → Cityscapes, SYNTHIA $\rightarrow$ → Cityscapes and Cross Season, we validate that our proposed method matches the state of the art in segmentation accuracy. In this article, we investigate the importance of phase for texture discrimination and similarity estimation tasks. We first use two psychophysical experiments to investigate the relative importance of phase and magnitude spectra for human texture discrimination and similarity estimation. The results show that phase is more important to humans for both tasks. We further examine the ability of 51 computational feature sets to perform these two tasks. In contrast with the psychophysical experiments, it is observed that the magnitude data is more important to these computational feature sets than the phase data. We hypothesise that this inconsistency is due to the difference between the abilities of humans and the computational feature sets to utilise phase data. This motivates us to investigate the application of the 51 feature sets to phase-only images in addition to their use on the original data set. This investigation is extended to exploit Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) features. The results show that our feature fusion scheme improves the average performance of those feature sets for estimating humans’ perceptual texture similarity. From the computer science literature, it can be seen that many different technologies are used in target recognition, which is one of the most significant areas in the artificial intelligence field. Target recognition is applied in a variety of disciplines, including healthcare, robot vision, vehicular traffic, and virtual reality. Target recognition techniques involve a robotic vision system that must perform with high accuracy and efficiency in real time; additionally, it must have the capacity to handle difficult identification contexts. In one existing target recognition system, the Harris algorithm is used; it provides a higher accuracy compared to more traditional algorithms. In order to improve its achieved accuracy, we focus on the target detection algorithm of a rehabilitation robot that is based on the local features of images. Considering the feature points of the images and target identification technology, a rehabilitation robotic recognition method is developed in this work. Initially, it collects the images, and then, adaptive weighted symplectic geometry decomposition is used for pre-processing. This method helps to reduce the noise in the images. Next, the features are extracted, and the vectors of the features are separated and identified. Afterward, one-to-many rehabilitation modes and actual system monitors are implemented to precisely select the target condition based on the functional criteria of the rehabilitation robot recognition method. Finally, an invertible color-to-grayscale conversion method using clustering and reversible watermarking is applied. It converts images into grayscale. The Gaussian distribution is consistently utilized to define the position and the quantity of the extracted feature points. Related images are retrieved as well.
