BackgroundWith the continuous development of society and economy, nuclear energy has emerged as a crucial solution to address global energy shortages. However, uranium reserves on land have diminished after nearly half a century of extraction, resulting in irreversible harm to the natural environment. Consequently, seawater uranium extraction has become a more eco-friendly and abundant source of uranium resources, compared to terrestrial uranium mining. And extracting uranium from seawater emerges as a prudent strategy.PurposeThis study aims to use kinetic chromatography to extract uranium from seawater and investigate the separation mechanism.MethodsLeveraging the concepts of dynamic chromatography, a pulsed-injection energy-endowed kinetic chromatography column was developed. The column utilized spherical SiO2 with a diameter of 0.2 mm and a length of 5 m as the filler. After filling, it encompassed approximately 30 600 chromatographic separation units. A peristaltic pump for pulse injection was applied to the kinetic chromatography system, and a switching pulse injection device was equipped to enable time control splitting. Subsequently, a self-developed on-line spectrophotometric detector was utilized to monitor the concentration of target components in the solution in real-time so as to avoid human control errors during multistage separation experiments. Additionally, the behavior of uranyl ions in kinetic chromatography under varying conditions and determine the best separation conditions was investigated by experiments using different mobile phase carriers, pH values, injection flow rates, energy-endowed modes, and energy-endowed series, and various energy-endowed methods, including water bath heating, ultrasonic, and external magnetic fields, were employed to achieve optimal separation conditions. Finally, the separation factor of uranium and sodium ions in actual seawater uranium extraction was calculated to explore the separation mechanism by separate studies of uranium, europium, and sodium ions, as well as an actual seawater uranium extraction.ResultResults of this series of studies demonstrates that the best separation effect is achieved when using hydrochloric acid as the mobile phase carrier in dynamic chromatography, with a pH of 2, a sample flow rate of 4.109 mL·min-1, water bath heating as the energy-endowed mode, a heating temperature of 50 ℃, and a heating series of 4. Under these optimal conditions, the separation factor between uranium and sodium ions can reach 1.185 4 in the separation studies of uranium, europium and sodium ions. In the real seawater uranium extraction study, the separation factor between uranium and sodium ions can reach 1.575. After simulation and calculation, the theoretical separation of uranium and sodium ions in seawater requires a minimum of 20 levels.ConclusionsThe efficient and rapid extraction and separation of uranium from seawater is facilitated in this study using a pulsed-injection energy-endowed kinetic chromatography column. This separation strategy allows for the efficient separation of light and heavy particles without interaction of the mobile and stationary, resulting in a high sample recovery rate and no need for column regeneration. This technique has potential for the separation of other nuclides, making it a versatile tool for nuclear chemistry research.

With the successful bidding for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the ice and snow sports tourism industry has received extensive attention from society. In this paper, under the background of the integration of sports and tourism, we construct an efficiency assessment system for the ice and snow sports tourism industry and then use the entropy value method and coefficient of variation method to improve the DEA model and construct a combination-weighted SE-SBM model to explore the operational and developmental efficiency value of the ice and snow sports tourism industry. In addition, considering the changes in regional industrial productivity over time, the Malmquist index model is utilized to respond to the dynamic development efficiency of the ice and snow sports tourism industry. Finally, the development efficiency of the ice and snow sports tourism industry is analyzed based on the panel data of some regions in China from 2014-2023, in which the mean value of the development efficiency of Jilin and Heilongjiang reaches 1.22778. Among the influencing factors, the value of weight gained from expanding consumption is 0.5426, which is greater than that of the other three factors. This study proposes that expanding consumption is the key to promoting the development of the ice and snow sports tourism industry.

In this paper, we study the big data multi-strategy predator algorithm for tourist flow prediction and explore the application of the algorithm in optimizing the tourist flow prediction model to improve the prediction accuracy and efficiency. An adversarial learning strategy extends the search space, an adaptive weighting factor balances the global and local search ability, and a variance operation combined with differential evolution is used to avoid local optimal traps. The experiment adopts variables such as network booking volume and search index as inputs for passenger flow prediction. The predator algorithm is trained by Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) to optimize the input weights and biases to build the FMMPAELM model. The results show that on the training samples, the FMMPA-ELM model predictions are highly consistent with the actual values, with a maximum prediction index of 200.On the test samples, although there are errors, the FMMPA-ELM model exhibits better prediction ability than the traditional ELM model. It is concluded that the FMMPAELM model can effectively improve the accuracy of passenger flow prediction and provide powerful decision support for the tourism industry.

Self‐charging power systems (SCPSs) are envisioned as promising solutions for emerging electronics to mitigate the increasing global concern about battery waste. However, present SCPSs suffer from large form factors, unscalable fabrication, and material complexity. Herein, a type of highly stable, eco‐friendly conductive inks based on poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) are developed for direct ink writing of multiple components in the SCPSs, including electrodes for miniaturized spacer‐free triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) and microsupercapacitors (MSCs), and interconnects. The principle of "one ink, multiple functions" enables to almost fully print the entire SCPSs on the same paper substrate in a monolithic manner without post‐integration. The monolithic fabrication significantly improves the upscaling capability for manufacturing and reduces the form factor of the entire SCPSs (a small footprint area of ≈2 cm × 3 cm and thickness of ≈1 mm). After pressing/releasing the TENGs for ≈79000 cycles, the 3‐cell series‐connected MSC array can be charged to 1.6 V while the 6‐cell array to 3.0 V. Harvesting renewable mechanical energy is envisioned as a promising and sustainable way for power generation. Many recent mechanical energy harvesters are able to produce instantaneous (pulsed) electricity with a high peak voltage of over 100 V. However, directly storing such irregular high‐voltage pulse electricity remains a great challenge. The use of extra power management components can boost storage efficiency but increase system complexity. Here utilizing the conducting polymer PEDOT:PSS, high‐rate metal‐free micro‐supercapacitor (MSC) arrays are successfully fabricated for direct high‐efficiency storage of high‐voltage pulse electricity. Within an area of 2.4 × 3.4 cm2 on various paper substrates, large‐scale MSC arrays (comprising up to 100 cells) can be printed to deliver a working voltage window of 160 V at an ultrahigh scan rate up to 30 V s−1. The ultrahigh rate capability enables the MSC arrays to quickly capture and efficiently store the high‐voltage (≈150 V) pulse electricity produced by a droplet‐based electricity generator at a high efficiency of 62%, significantly higher than that (<2%) of the batteries or capacitors demonstrated in the literature. Moreover, the compact and metal‐free features make these MSC arrays excellent candidates for sustainable high‐performance energy storage in self‐charging power systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Green extraction of the active lignans from Schisandra chinensis has received considerable attention due to their promising applications in the biomedical field. In this study, microwave‐assisted deep eutectic solvent method was used to simultaneously extract five lignans: Schizandrol A, Schizandrol B, Schisantherin A, Schisandrin A and Schizandrin B. The extraction parameters were optimized according to the calculated comprehensive score obtained from the analytic hierarchy process combined with the entropy weight method. The optimal extraction conditions were that the molar ratio of choline chloride and glycolic acid is 4:1, water content is 30% (V/V), solid–liquid ratio is 1:20 (Wg:VmL), extraction time is 20 min, and extraction temperature is 70°C, under which the extraction rate of the five lignans were 10.89, 8.616, 4.019, 4.893, and 5.318 mg/g. These results confirmed that our extraction method is efficient and feasible for green extraction of lignans from S. chinensis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The southern waters of the Sumatra‐Java Islands, within the Indo‐Pacific Warm Pool, are highly susceptible to global climate change impacts. Understanding particulate inorganic carbon (PIC) dynamics and environmental responses in this region is critical for assessing climate change effects on marine ecosystems. Utilizing two decades of remote sensing PIC data (2003–2022), we identified five sub‐regions via K‐means clustering: the Sunda Strait, southern coastal/offshore waters of Sumatra Island, and southern coastal/offshore waters of Java Island. Self‐Organizing Map explored interannual PIC variations, while Generalized Additive Models delineated driving factors. In the Sunda Strait, PIC dynamics are influenced by water exchanges between the Indonesian Seas (ISs) and eastern Indian Ocean (EIO). Seasonally, PIC concentrations peak during the east monsoon (boreal summer); decreasing during positive Indian Ocean Dipole (+IOD) and El Niño events. Along the southern Sumatra, PIC variations positively correlate with rainfall and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). Along the southern Sumatra, upwelling drives PIC variations, with higher concentrations during mature summer monsoon induced upwelling periods. PIC increases during +IOD and decreases during El Niño. Our study highlights the nexus between nutrients, physical factors (e.g., rainfall), and climatic events (e.g., El Niño) on PIC concentrations. Climate‐induced changes in oceanic physical processes modulate nutrient concentrations, thereby governing PIC variations. We propose a mechanistic model to elucidate PIC variations in upwelling areas. Findings suggest that prospective climate variability, encompassing alterations in climate events, rainfall, and temperature, may escalate PIC concentrations within the study area, advocating PIC as a forward‐looking climate change indicator. In the Sunda Strait, a narrow body of water between land masses, water movement between the Indonesian Seas and eastern Indian Ocean influences PIC concentrations. In the southern waters of Sumatra Island, we discovered that increased rainfall and sunlight contribute to higher PIC concentrations. In the southern waters of Java Island, upwelling, an ocean physical process that brings nutrient‐rich water to the surface, plays a significant role. Our study delineates the interplay between nutrients, physical factors (e.g., rainfall), and climatic events (e.g., El Niño) on coccolithophore biomass. Climate changes drive alterations in oceanic physical processes, which in turn affect nutrient availability, thereby governing the growth of coccolithophores. Findings suggest prospective climate variability, inclusive of alterations in climate events, rainfall, and temperature, may escalate PIC concentrations within the study area, advocating PIC concentrations alterations as a forward‐looking climate change indicator. A supramolecular solvent (SUPRAS)-based sample preparation method was proposed for the determination of lignans in Schisandra chinensis (S. chinensis) fruit. The optimal conditions were: proportion of hexafluoroisopropanol in SUPRAS: 35% (v/v), solid-to-liquid ratio: 20:1 mg/mL, and vortex time: 30 s. Additionally, simple, rapid, and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry and multiple reaction monitoring was employed to simultaneously quantify seven lignans in S. chinensis. The validation showed that the linearity from 0.01 to 20.83 µg/mL was excellent (all R2 ≥ 0.99). The lowest limits of quantification were from 0.14 to 17.79 ng/mL. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the intra-day retention time and peak area were from 0.12% to 0.21% and 2.35% to 6.41%. The RSD of retention time and peak area for the inter-day precision ranged from 0.17% to 0.32% and 3.83% to 7.39%. The average recoveries (80.21%–114.53%) demonstrated good accuracy for all analytes. The developed procedure was employed to determine lignans in processed and raw S. chinensis fruit. The lignans were concentrated in the seeds and the wine-processed material had the highest content. Recent genomic analyses have revealed substantial tumor heterogeneity across various cancers. However, it remains unclear whether and how genomic heterogeneity is constrained during tumor evolution. Here, we sequence a unique cohort of multiple synchronous lung cancers (MSLCs) to determine the relative diversity and uniformity of genetic drivers upon identical germline and environmental background. We find that each multicentric primary tumor harbors distinct oncogenic alterations, including novel mutations that are experimentally demonstrated to be functional and therapeutically targetable. However, functional studies show a strikingly constrained tumorigenic pathway underlying heterogeneous genetic variants. These results suggest that although the mutation-specific routes that cells take during oncogenesis are stochastic, genetic trajectories may be constrained by selection for functional convergence on key signaling pathways. Our findings highlight the robust evolutionary pressures that simultaneously shape the expansion and constraint of genomic diversity, a principle that holds important implications for understanding tumor evolution and optimizing therapeutic strategies.Across cancer types tumor heterogeneity has been observed, but how this relates to tumor evolution is unclear.
