Visual SLAM algorithms can obtain a large amount of texture information from the environment and usually perform very well in static scenes, but there are a large number of irregular dynamic points when running in dynamic scenes, which can lead to increased error in SLAM feature point matching and loss of tracking localization. To address this challenge this paper proposes a SLAM system (YVG‐SLAM) that adapts to dynamic scenes. YVG‐SLAM is an improvement on the ORB‐SLAM3 algorithm, integrating the view geometry algorithm and the current powerful YOLOv5 algorithm, while proposing a dynamic feature removal strategy without a priori assumptions to reduce the influence of dynamic targets. In this paper, we first lighten the YOLOv5 algorithm, then process the image frame to get the bounding box, then use the view geometry algorithm to determine the dynamic feature points on the image frame, and finally remove the moving objects in the image frame according to the dynamic feature recognition strategy proposed in this paper. The performance of the algorithm is tested on the TUM RGB‐D and BONN RGB‐D datasets. The experimental results show that the robustness of the proposed algorithm on most video sequences is better than the existing SLAM algorithms dealing with dynamic scenes such as Detect‐SLAM and DynaSLAM, and the RMSE index of the absolute trajectory error measured on high‐speed dynamic video sequences can be significantly reduced by more than 93% compared to ORB‐SLAM3. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC. Neural network (NN) finds role in variety of applications due to combined effect of feature extraction and classification availability in deep learning algorithms. In this paper, we have chosen SVM, logistic regression machine learning algorithms and NN for EEG signal classification. Two-layer LSTM and four-layer improved NN deep learning algorithms are proposed to improve the performance in EEG classification. Novelty lies in one-dimensional gradient descent activation functions with radial basis operations used in the initial layers of improved NN which help in achieving better performance. Statistical features namely mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and skewness are extracted for input EEG collected from Bonn database and then applied for various classification techniques. Accuracy, precision, recall and F1 score are the performance metrics used for analyzing the algorithms. Improved NN and LSTM give better performance compared to all other architectures. Feature selection plays a vital role in the detection and discrimination of epileptic seizures in electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The state-of-the-art EEG classification techniques commonly entail the extraction of the multiple features that would be fed into classifiers. For some techniques, the feature selection strategies have been used to reduce the dimensionality of the entire feature space. However, most of these approaches focus on the performance of classifiers while neglecting the association between the feature and the EEG activity itself. To enhance the inner relationship between the feature subset and the epileptic EEG task with a promising classification accuracy, we propose a machine learning-based pipeline using a novel feature selection algorithm built upon a knockoff filter. First, a number of temporal, spectral, and spatial features are extracted from the raw EEG signals. Second, the proposed feature selection algorithm is exploited to obtain the optimal subgroup of features. Afterwards, three classifiers including k -nearest neighbor (KNN), random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) are used. The experimental results on the Bonn dataset demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art techniques, with accuracy as high as 99.93% for normal and interictal EEG discrimination and 98.95% for interictal and ictal EEG classification. Meanwhile, it has achieved satisfactory sensitivity (95.67% in average), specificity (98.83% in average), and accuracy (98.89% in average) over the Freiburg dataset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
