Most image quality assessment (IQA) algorithms based on sparse representation primarily focus on amplitude information, often overlooking the structural composition of images. However, structural composition is closely linked to perceived image quality, a connection that existing methods do not adequately address. To fill this gap, this paper proposes a novel distorted-image quality assessment algorithm based on a sparse structure and subjective perception (IQA-SSSP). This algorithm evaluates the quality of distorted images by measuring the sparse structure similarity between a reference and distorted images. The proposed method has several advantages. First, the sparse structure algorithm operates with reduced computational complexity, leading to faster processing speeds, which makes it suitable for practical applications. Additionally, it efficiently handles large-scale data, further enhancing the assessment process. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the algorithm, showing that it achieves a high correlation with human visual perception, as reflected in both objective and subjective evaluations. Specifically, the algorithm yielded a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.929 and a mean squared error of 8.003, demonstrating its robustness and efficiency. By addressing the limitations of existing IQA methods and introducing a more holistic approach, this paper offers new perspectives on IQA. License plate detection is an important task in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and has a wide range of applications in vehicle management, traffic control, and public safety. In order to improve the accuracy and speed of mobile recognition, an improved lightweight YOLOv5s model is proposed for license plate detection. First, an improved Stemblock network is used to replace the original Focus layer in the network, which ensures strong feature expression capability and reduces a large number of parameters to lower the computational complexity; then, an improved lightweight network, ShuffleNetv2, is used to replace the backbone network of the YOLOv5s, which makes the model lighter and ensures the detection accuracy at the same time. Then, a feature enhancement module is designed to reduce the information loss caused by the rearrangement of the backbone network channels, which facilitates the information interaction in the feature fusion process; finally, the low‐, medium‐ and high‐level features in the Shufflenetv2 network structure are fused to form the final high‐level output features. Experimental results on the CCPD dataset show that compared to other methods this paper obtains better performance and faster speed in the license plate detection task, in which the average precision mean value reaches 96.6%, and can achieve a detection speed of 43.86 frame/s, and the parameter volume is reduced to 5.07 M. To address the challenges of high complexity, poor real-time performance, and low detection rates for small target vehicles in existing vehicle object detection algorithms, this paper proposes a real-time lightweight architecture based on You Only Look Once (YOLO) v5m. Firstly, a lightweight upsampling operator called Content-Aware Reassembly of Features (CARAFE) is introduced in the feature fusion layer of the network to maximize the extraction of deep-level features for small target vehicles, reducing the missed detection rate and false detection rate. Secondly, a new prediction layer for tiny targets is added, and the feature fusion network is redesigned to enhance the detection capability for small targets. Finally, this paper applies L1 regularization to train the improved network, followed by pruning and fine-tuning operations to remove redundant channels, reducing computational and parameter complexity and enhancing the detection efficiency of the network. Training is conducted on the VisDrone2019-DET dataset. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithmreduces parameters and computation by 63.8% and 65.8%, respectively. The average detection accuracy improves by 5.15%, and the detection speed reaches 47 images per second, satisfying real-time requirements. Compared with existing approaches, including YOLOv5m and classical vehicle detection algorithms, our method achieves higher accuracy and faster speed for real-time detection of small target vehicles in edge computing. With the advancement of network technology, multimedia videos have emerged as a crucial channel for individuals to access external information, owing to their realistic and intuitive effects. In the presence of high frame rate and high dynamic range videos, the coding efficiency of high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) falls short of meeting the storage and transmission demands of the video content. Therefore, versatile video coding (VVC) introduces a nested quadtree plus multi-type tree (QTMT) segmentation structure based on the HEVC standard, while also expanding the intra-prediction modes from 35 to 67. While the new technology introduced by VVC has enhanced compression performance, it concurrently introduces a higher level of computational complexity. To enhance coding efficiency and diminish computational complexity, this paper explores two key aspects: coding unit (CU) partition decision-making and intra-frame mode selection. Firstly, to address the flexible partitioning structure of QTMT, we propose a decision-tree-based series partitioning decision algorithm for partitioning decisions. Through concatenating the quadtree (QT) partition division decision with the multi-type tree (MT) division decision, a strategy is implemented to determine whether to skip the MT division decision based on texture characteristics. If the MT partition decision is used, four decision tree classifiers are used to judge different partition types. Secondly, for intra-frame mode selection, this paper proposes an ensemble-learning-based algorithm for mode prediction termination. Through the reordering of complete candidate modes and the assessment of prediction accuracy, the termination of redundant candidate modes is accomplished. In response to the challenges of small-size defects and low recognition rates in Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), as well as the need for lightweight detection models that can be embedded in portable devices, this paper proposes an improved defect detection method based on a lightweight shared convolutional head using YOLOv8n. Firstly, the Spatial and Channel reconstruction Convolution (SCConv) is embedded into the Cross Stage Partial with Convolutional Layer Fusion (C2f) structure of the backbone network, which reduces redundant computations and enhances the model's learning capacity. Secondly, an adaptive feature selection module is integrated to improve the network's ability to recognize small targets. Subsequently, a Shared Lightweight Convolutional Detection (SLCD) Head replaces the original Decoupled Head, reducing the model's computational complexity while increasing detection accuracy. Finally, the Weighted Intersection over Union (WIoU) loss function is introduced to provide more precise evaluation results and improve generalization capability. Comparative experiments conducted on a public PCB dataset demonstrate that the improved algorithm achieves a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 98.6% and an accuracy of 99.8%, representing improvements of 3.8% and 3.1%, respectively, over the original model. Aiming to provide solutions for problems proposed by the inaccurate segmentation of long objects and information loss of small objects in real-time semantic segmentation algorithms, this paper proposes a lightweight multi-branch real-time semantic segmentation network based on BiseNetV2. The new auxiliary branch makes full use of spatial details and context information to cover the long object in the field of view. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the inference speed of the model, the asymmetric convolution is used in each stage of the auxiliary branch to design a structure with low computational complexity. In the multi-branch fusion stage, the alignment-and-fusion module is designed to provide guidance information for deep and shallow feature mapping, so as to make up for the problem of feature misalignment in the fusion of information at different scales, and thus reduce the loss of small target information. In order to further improve the model's awareness of key information, a global context module is designed to capture the most important features in the input data. The proposed network uses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU experiment on the road street view Cityscapes and CamVid datasets, with the average simultaneously occurring ratios reaching 77.1% and 77.4%, respectively, and the running speeds reaching 127 frames/s and 112 frames/s, respectively. This paper delves into the problem of direct position determination (DPD) for non-Gaussian sources. Existing DPD algorithms are hindered by their high computational complexity from exhaustive grid searches and a disregard for the received signal characteristics by multiple nested arrays (MNAs). To address these issues, the paper proposes a novel DPD algorithm for non-Gaussian sources with MNAs: the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and Taylor compensation algorithm. Initially, the fourth-order cumulant matrix of the received signal is computed, and the vectorizing method is applied. Subsequently, a computationally efficient DPD cost function is proposed by leveraging a normalized DFT matrix to reduce complexity. Finally, first-order Taylor compensation is utilized to enhance the accuracy of the localization results. The detection of road damage is highly important for traffic safety and road maintenance. Conventional detection approaches frequently require significant time and expenditure, the accuracy of detection cannot be guaranteed, and they are prone to misdetection or omission problems. Therefore, this paper introduces an enhanced version of the You Only Look Once version 8 (YOLOv8) road damage detection algorithm called RDD-YOLO. First, the simple attention mechanism (SimAM) is integrated into the backbone, which successfully improves the model's focus on crucial details within the input image, enabling the model to capture features of road damage more accurately, thus enhancing the model's precision. Second, the neck structure is optimized by replacing traditional convolution modules with GhostConv. This reduces redundant information, lowers the number of parameters, and decreases computational complexity while maintaining the model's excellent performance in damage recognition. Last, the upsampling algorithm in the neck is improved by replacing the nearest interpolation with more accurate bilinear interpolation. This enhances the model's capacity to maintain visual details, providing clearer and more accurate outputs for road damage detection tasks. Experimental findings on the RDD2022 dataset show that the proposed RDD-YOLO model achieves an mAP50 and mAP50-95 of 62.5% and 36.4% on the validation set, respectively. For the characteristics of channel instability in wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes an intrusion detection algorithm based on FedAvg (federated averaging) and XGBoost (extreme gradient boosting) wireless sensor networks using fog computing architecture. First, the network edge is extended by introducing fog computing nodes to reduce the communication delay. It reduces the transmission bandwidth and privacy leakage risk while improving the accuracy of jointly learned global and local models. Then, the histogram-based approximation calculation method is improved to adapt to the unbalanced data characteristics of wireless sensor networks. Finally, by introducing TOP-K gradient selection, the number of model parameter uploads is minimized, and the efficiency of model parameter interaction is improved. In this work, we propose a multiple feedback-based successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme for an ultra-dense Internet of Things (IoT) device network. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) enables massive connectivity with improved user fairness and spectral efficiency and is envisaged as a multiple access technique for IoT devices. NOMA simultaneously serves multiple users within a single resource block, leading to unbounded yet regulated multi-user interference. SIC is widely adopted in the NOMA system to detect users' symbols. Nevertheless, multi-user interference and error propagation in the SIC layer are inherent challenges in NOMA. Recent studies have aimed to minimize interference and error propagation, imposing stringent conditions on the number of users and power allocation. Thus, this paper proposes novel multiple feedback-based SIC algorithms for the uplink multi-user NOMA scenarios that outperform the conventional SIC. Further, the proposed algorithm's performance is analyzed under the practical case of imperfect channel state information at the receiver node to validate the robustness. This paper proposes an efficient method for acquiring the global solution of the sum of affine ratios problem (SARP) in the reduced outer space. Using equivalence conversions, the original problem was transformed into an equivalent problem. Then, an affine relaxation problem of the equivalent problem was constructed by exploiting linearization techniques. H.266/Versatile Video Coding (VVC) introduces new techniques that build upon previous standards, proposing a nested multi-type tree quadtree (QTMT). The introduction of this structure significantly enhances video coding efficiency; additionally, the number of directional modes in H.266 has increased by 32 compared to H.265, accommodating a greater variety of texture patterns. However, the changes in the related structures have also led to a significant increase in encoding complexity. To address the issue of excessive computational complexity, this paper proposes a targeted rapid Coding Units segmenting approach combined with decision-making for an intra-frame modes algorithm. In the first phase of the algorithm, we extract different features for CU blocks of various sizes and input them into the decision tree model's classifier for classification processing, determining the CU partitioning mode to prematurely terminate the partitioning, thereby reducing the encoding complexity to some extent. In the second phase of the algorithm, we put forward an intra-frame mode decision strategy grounded in gradient descent techniques with a bidirectional search mode. This maximizes the approach to the global optimum, thereby obtaining the optimal intra-frame mode and further reducing the encoding complexity. Experimentation has demonstrated that the algorithm achieves a 54.53% reduction in encoding time. Many compartments are prone to pose safety hazards such as loose fasteners or object intrusion due to their confined space, making manual inspection challenging. To address the challenges of complex inspection environments, diverse target categories, and variable scales in confined compartments, this paper proposes a novel GMS-YOLO network, based on the improved YOLOv8 framework. In addition to the lightweight design, this network accurately detects targets by leveraging more precise high-level and low-level feature representations obtained from GhostHGNetv2, which enhances feature-extraction capabilities. To handle the issue of complex environments, the backbone employs GhostHGNetv2 to capture more accurate high-level and low-level feature representations, facilitating better distinction between background and targets. In addition, this network significantly reduces both network parameter size and computational complexity. To address the issue of varying target scales, the first layer of the feature fusion module introduces Multi-Scale Convolutional Attention (MSCA) to capture multi-scale contextual information and guide the feature fusion process. A new lightweight detection head, Shared Convolutional Detection Head (SCDH), is designed to enable the model to achieve higher accuracy while being lighter. To evaluate the performance of this algorithm, a dataset for object detection in this scenario was constructed. Managing the explosion of data from the edge to the cloud requires intelligent supervision, such as fog node deployments, which is an essential task to assess network operability. To ensure network operability, the deployment process must be carried out effectively regarding two main factors: connectivity and coverage. The network connectivity is based on fog node deployment, which determines the network's physical topology, while the coverage determines the network accessibility. Both have a significant impact on network performance and guarantee the network quality of service. Determining an optimum fog node deployment method that minimizes cost, reduces computation and communication overhead, and provides a high degree of network connection coverage is extremely hard. Therefore, maximizing coverage and preserving network connectivity is a non-trivial problem. In this paper, we propose a fog deployment algorithm that can effectively connect the fog nodes and cover all edge devices. Firstly, we formulate fog deployment as an instance of multi-objective optimization problems with a large search space. Then, we leverage Marine Predator Algorithm (MPA) to tackle the deployment problem and prove that MPA is well-suited for fog node deployment due to its rapid convergence and low computational complexity, compared to other population-based algorithms. Finally, we evaluate the proposed algorithm on a different benchmark of generated instances with various fog scenario configurations. Our algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art methods, providing promising results for optimal fog node deployment. This paper describes a randomized algorithm for computing mixed Nash equilibrium (NE) in bimatrix games. The new algorithm transforms the NE problem of bimatrix games into a new form by using a fuzzification technique, it calculates mixed NE points in the new bimatrix games. This paper proves that the solution of the new bimatrix games is also a solution of the original bimatrix games. It proves that the computational complexity of the new algorithm for computing mixed NE points in bimatrix games is in the class of randomized polynomial time (RP). Examples are given that show the new algorithm can find two times more mixed NE points than Lemke–Howson algorithm. Numerical experiments indicate that the average computational time of the new algorithm is four hundred time faster than Lemke–Howson algorithm for calculating the first mixed NE point. Recently, an affine-projection-like M-estimate (APLM) algorithm has gained popularity for its ability to effectively handle impulsive background disturbances. Nevertheless, the APLM algorithm's performance is negatively affected by steady-state misalignment. To address this issue while maintaining equivalent computational complexity, a robust cost function based on the Andrew's sine estimator (ASE) is introduced and a corresponding affine-projection Andrew's sine estimator (APASE) algorithm is proposed in this paper. To further enhance the tracking capability and accelerate the convergence rate, we develop the combined-step-size APASE (CSS-APASE) algorithm using a combination of two different step sizes. A series of simulation studies are conducted in system identification and echo cancellation scenarios, which confirms that the proposed algorithms can attain reduced misalignment compared to other currently available algorithms in cases of impulsive noise. To solve the significant performance degradation in the blind equalization for multi-level quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signals, an improved multimodulus algorithm based on the real part (or the imaginary part) of the transmitted signals is developed in this paper. Theoretical analysis illustrates that the proposed algorithm can roughly half the computational complexity and fundamentally suppress the well-known steady-state maladjustment of classical constant modulus algorithm and multimodulus algorithm. Moreover, the large maladjustment in the iteration process can be completely removed, thus the proposed algorithm can work well in impulsive noise environment. The format of multi -view plus depth (MVD) is introduced in 3D-HEVC for improving coding efficiency. However, as the number of viewpoints increases, the computational complexity increases dramatically. To overcome this issue, a method based on RD-cost Bayesian Decision (RDBD) for 3D -HEVC fast depth map inter coding is proposed in this paper, including coding unit (CU) early termination and SKIP/DIS decision. First, an offline training model with the minimum risk Bayesian decision rule is used to predict optimal CU size in depth map. Then, a minimum error rate Bayesian decision rule is proposed to determine whether SKIP or DIS is the best mode and ignores the rate distortion optimization (RDO) process of other modes. Experimental results show that, with the proposed algorithm, 45. 7% depth map encoding time saving is achieved compared to the original 3D-HEVC, and outperforms state-of-the-art fast inter coding methods for 3D-HEVC. In the passive bistatic radar (PBR) system, methods exist to address the issue of detecting weak targets without being influenced by non-ideal factors from adjacent strong targets. These methods utilize the sparsity in the delay-Doppler domain of the cross ambiguity function (CAF) to detect weak targets. However, the modeling and solving of this method involve substantial memory consumption and computational complexity. To address these challenges, this paper establishes a target detection model for PBR based on batch processing of sparse representation and recovery. This model partitions the CAF into blocks, identifies blocks requiring processing based on the presence of targets, and improves the construction and utilization of the measurement matrix. This results in a reduction in the computational complexity and memory resource requirements for sparse representation and recovery, and provides favorable conditions for parallel execution of the algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach increases the number of blocks by a factor of four, and reduces the number of real multiplications by approximately an order of magnitude. Recently, multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems have gained significant attention in the field of wireless communications. The utilization of the Riemannian manifold has become prevalent in MIMO-OFDM systems. However, the existing data detection algorithms for MIMO-OFDM systems are mostly designed for block fading channels. Additionally, these algorithms often suffer from high computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a data detection algorithm on the basis of Riemannian manifold optimization for MIMO-OFDM systems under time-varying channels. The core concept of this algorithm is to optimize the transmitted signals by solving the manifold optimization problem in the case of time-varying channels. In order to reduce the computational complexity of the algorithm, we improve the proposed algorithm by dividing the transmitted signals into multiple subframes for solving the optimization problem separately and using the pilots to maintain the performance of the algorithm. In the simulation, the performance of multiple proposed algorithms and the forced-zero detection algorithm under different parameter settings are compared. The parallel computing power of quantum computing and the special properties of qubits provide an effective solution for image processing tasks. This paper presents a quantum image encryption algorithm based on Fisher–Yates algorithm and Logistic mapping. Firstly, the Fisher–Yates algorithm is used to generate three key sequences, one of which is used to encode the coordinate qubits of the image. Using the other two keys and the preset rules, the quantum coordinate scrambling operation is designed based on the encoded coordinate qubit, which effectively scrambles the spatial information of the plaintext image. Next, another set of key sequences is generated, one of which is used to encode the color qubits of the image. Using two other key sequences and different rules, a qubit plane scrambling operation based on coded color qubits is designed, and the color information of image is scrambled successfully. Finally, the quantum key image is generated based on Logistic mapping, and the key image is scrambled based on Fisher–Yates algorithm to improve the key complexity. The final ciphertext image is obtained by performing XOR operation between the original image and the scrambled key image. The complete quantum circuit diagram of the scheme is given in this paper. Matrix triangular factorizations, as an intermediate step of some algorithms, are widely employed to solve scientific and engineering problems. However, there is no exact and explicit expressions on the computational complexity of triangular factorizations for general banded matrices in literatures so far. In this paper, specific and detailed descriptions on triangular factorization algorithms are presented for general banded matrices, and then by carefully dividing matrix into special blocks and with the help of the mathematical software 'Maple', exact and explicit expressions on the computational complexity of these algorithms are rigorously derived. These theoretical results are helpful for calculating the computational complexity of numerical algorithms that employ triangular factorizations, and also provide guidance for choosing appropriate algorithms for specific problems. Spatial Modulation(SM) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM) Multi-Mode Index Modulation (MM-OFDM-IM) techniques have significant advantages in Energy Efficiency(EE) and Spectral Efficiency(SE), respectively. The combination of multi-dimensional index modulation technology can apply multiple physical resources to meet the high demand for data transmission and system capacity in wireless communication systems. Therefore, SM and MM-OFDM-IM systems can be flexibly combined to construct an OFDM Multiple Mode Space Frequency Composite Index Modulation (MM-OFDM-SFCIM) based on space frequency combination. This system can retain the silent subcarriers in traditional subcarrier index modulation technique, expanding new composite coefficient dimensions and improving its SE and EE. Aiming at the complex characteristics of this system, this paper proposes a joint detection algorithm EL-REML (REML based on symbolic Energy and LLR) based on symbolic energy and log-likelihood. The simulation results show that the MM-OFDM-SFCIM system achieves about 30% improvement in SE compared to traditional space-frequency combination systems, and the EL-REML algorithm proposed in this system achieves a 3-4 dB improvement in BER (Bit Error Rate) compared to the LLR algorithm. This paper proposes a new algorithm based on sensitivity analysis and the Wolfe method to solve a sequence of parametric quadratic programming (QP) problems such as those that arise in quadratic model predictive control (QMPC). The Wolfe method, based on Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions, has been used to convert parametric QP problems to parametric linear programming (LP) problems, and then the sensitivity analysis is applied to solve the sequence of the parametric LP problems. This strategy obtains sensitivity analysis‐based QMPC (SA‐QMPC) algorithm. Robust face clustering enjoys a wide range of applications for gate passes, surveillance systems and security analysis in embedded sensors. Nevertheless, existing algorithms have limitations in finding accurate clusters when data contain noise (e.g., occluded face clustering and recognition). It is known that in subspace clustering, the ℓ 1 - and ℓ 2 -norm regularizers can improve subspace preservation and connectivity, respectively, and the elastic net regularizer (i.e., the mixture of the ℓ 1 - and ℓ 2 -norms) provides a balance between the two properties. However, existing deterministic methods have high per iteration computational complexities, making them inapplicable to large-scale problems. To address this issue, this paper proposes the first accelerated stochastic variance reduction gradient (RASVRG) algorithm for robust subspace clustering. We also introduce a new momentum acceleration technique for the RASVRG algorithm. As a result of the involvement of this momentum, the RASVRG algorithm achieves both the best oracle complexity and the fastest convergence rate, and it reaches higher efficiency in practice for both strongly convex and not strongly convex models. Various experimental results show that the RASVRG algorithm outperformed existing state-of-the-art methods with elastic net and ℓ 1 -norm regularizers in terms of accuracy in most cases. Sidelobe cancellation (SLC) is a well-established beamforming technique for mitigating interference, particularly in the context of satellite communication (SATCOM). However, traditional SLC suffers from the issue of partially canceling the desired signal at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), primarily due to unconstrained beamforming processing. Extensive research has been conducted to address this problem; however, existing algorithms have limitations such as dependence on knowledge of signal array vectors or number of interferers and involve high computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a robust SLC algorithm based on beamforming vector norm constraint. Our proposal offers a practical solution by only requiring knowledge of the earth station antenna gain and maximum auxiliary array gain to the desired signal, both of which are fully known. Furthermore, compared to traditional SLC, our proposed method introduces additional computational complexity that only scales linearly with the size of the auxiliary array. Simulation results demonstrate comparable performance between our proposed method and existing techniques such as diagonal loading and spatial degrees-of-freedom control-based algorithms. Recently, there has been renewed interest in signed distance bound representations due to their unique properties for 3D shape modelling. This is especially the case for deep learning-based bounds. However, it is beneficial to work with polygons in most computer graphics applications. Thus, in this paper, we introduce and investigate an asymptotically fast method for transforming signed distance bounds into polygon meshes. This is achieved by combining the principles of sphere tracing (or ray marching) with traditional polygonization techniques, such as marching cubes. We provide theoretical and experimental evidence that this approach is of the O (N 2 log N) computational complexity for a polygonization grid with N 3 cells. The algorithm is tested on both a set of primitive shapes and signed distance bounds generated from point clouds by machine learning (and represented as neural networks). In applications where large-order filters are needed, the computational load of adaptive filtering algorithms can become prohibitively expensive. In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of a selective partial-update least mean squares, named SPU-LMS-M-min, is developed. By employing the partial-update strategy for a non-normalized adaptive scheme, the designer can choose an appropriate number of update blocks considering a trade-off between convergence rate and computational complexity, which can result in a more than 40% reduction in the number of multiplications in some configurations compared to the traditional LMS algorithm. Based on the principle of minimum distortion, a selection criterion is proposed that is based on the input signal's blocks with the lowest energy, whereas typical Selective Partial Update (SPU) algorithms use a selection criterion based on blocks with highest energy. Stochastic models are developed for the mean weights and mean and mean squared behaviour of the proposed algorithm, which are further extended to accommodate scenarios involving time-varying dynamics and suboptimal filter lengths. Simulation results show that the theoretical predictions are in good agreement with the experimental outcomes. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the proposed selection criterion can be easily extended to active noise cancellation algorithms as well as algorithms utilizing variable filter length. The mathematical side of applied problems in multiple subject areas (biology, pattern recognition, etc.) is reduced to the problem of discrete optimization in the following mathematical method. We were provided a network and graphs in its leaves, for which we needed to find a rearrangement of graphs by non-leaf nodes, in which the given functional reached its minimum. Such a problem, even in the simplest case, is NP-hard, which means unavoidable restrictions on the network, on graphs, or on the functional. In this publication, this problem is addressed in the case of all graphs being so-called "structures", meaning directed-loaded graphs consisting of paths and cycles, and the functional as the sum (over all edges in the network) of distances between structures at the endpoints of every edge. The distance itself is equal to the minimal length of sequence from the fixed list of operations, the composition of which transforms the structure at one endpoint of the edge into the structure at its other endpoint. The list of operations (and their costs) on such a graph is fixed. Under these conditions, the given discrete optimization problem is called the reconstruction problem. This paper presents novel algorithms for solving the reconstruction problem, along with full proofs of their low error and low polynomial complexity. Arc faults are the main cause of electrical fires according to national fire data statistics. Intensive studies of artificial intelligence-based arc fault detection methods have been carried out and achieved a high detection accuracy. However, the computational complexity of the artificial intelligence-based methods hinders their application for arc fault detection devices. This paper proposes a lightweight arc fault detection method based on the discrimination of a novel feature for lower current distortion conditions and the Adam-optimized BP neural network for higher distortion conditions. The novel feature is the pulse signal number per unit cycle, reflecting the zero-off phenomena of the arc current. Six features, containing the novel feature, are chosen as the inputs of the neural network, reducing the computational complexity. The model achieves a high detection accuracy of 99.27% under various load types recommended by the IEC 62606 standard. Finally, the proposed lightweight method is implemented on hardware based on the STM32 series microcontroller unit. The experimental results show that the average detection accuracy is 98.33%, while the average detection time is 45 ms and the average tripping time is 72–201 ms under six types of loads, which can fulfill the requirements of real-time detection for commercial arc fault detection devices. A novel compressive sensing (CS) synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) called AgileSAR has been proposed to increase swath width for sparse scenes while preserving azimuthal resolution. AgileSAR overcomes the limitation of the Nyquist sampling theorem so that it has a small amount of data and low system complexity. However, traditional CS optimization-based algorithms suffer from manual tuning and pre-definition of optimization parameters, and they generally involve high time and computational complexity for AgileSAR imaging. To address these issues, a pseudo- L 0 -norm fast iterative shrinkage algorithm network (pseudo- L 0 -norm FISTA-net) is proposed for AgileSAR imaging via the deep unfolding network in this paper. Firstly, a pseudo- L 0 -norm regularization model is built by taking an approximately fair penalization rule based on Bayesian estimation. Then, we unfold the operation process of FISTA into a data-driven deep network to solve the pseudo- L 0 -norm regularization model. The network's parameters are automatically learned, and the learned network significantly increases imaging speed, so that it can improve the accuracy and efficiency of AgileSAR imaging. In addition, the nonlinearly sparsifying transform can learn more target details than the traditional sparsifying transform. In recent years, UNet and its derivative networks have gained widespread recognition as major methods of medical image segmentation. However, networks like UNet often struggle with Point-of-Care (POC) healthcare applications due to their high number of parameters and computational complexity. To tackle these challenges, this paper introduces an efficient network designed for medical image segmentation called MCU-Net, which leverages ConvNeXt to enhance UNet. 1) Based on ConvNeXt, MCU-Net proposes the MCU Block, which employs techniques such as large kernel convolution, depth-wise separable convolution, and an inverted bottleneck design. To ensure stable segmentation performance, it also integrates global response normalization (GRN) layers and Gaussian Error Linear Unit (GELU) activation functions. 2) Additionally, MCU-Net introduces an enhanced Multi-Scale Convolution Attention (MSCA) module after the original UNet's skip connections, emphasizing medical image features and capturing semantic insights across multiple scales. 3)The downsampling process replaces pooling layers with convolutions, and both upsampling and downsampling stages incorporate batch normalization (BN) layers to enhance model stability during training. The experimental results demonstrate that MCU-Net, with a parameter count of 2.19 million and computational complexity of 19.73 FLOPs, outperforms other segmentation models. This paper constructs an interval partition linearization algorithm for solving minimax linear fractional programming (MLFP) problem. In this algorithm, MLFP is converted and decomposed into a series of linear programs by dividing the outer 1-dimensional space of the equivalent problem (EP) into polynomially countable intervals. To improve the computational efficiency of the algorithm, two new acceleration techniques are introduced, in which the regions in outer space where the optimal solution of EP does not exist are largely deleted. With the advent of the information security era, it is necessary to guarantee the privacy, accuracy, and dependable transfer of pictures. This study presents a new approach to the encryption and compression of color images. It is predicated on 2D compressed sensing (CS) and the hyperchaotic system. First, an optimized Arnold scrambling algorithm is applied to the initial color images to ensure strong security. Then, the processed images are concurrently encrypted and compressed using 2D CS. Among them, chaotic sequences replace traditional random measurement matrices to increase the system's security. Third, the processed images are re-encrypted using a combination of permutation and diffusion algorithms. In addition, the 2D projected gradient with an embedding decryption (2DPG-ED) algorithm is used to reconstruct images. Compared with the traditional reconstruction algorithm, the 2DPG-ED algorithm can improve security and reduce computational complexity. Furthermore, it has better robustness. Ship fire may result in significant damage to its structure and large economic loss. Hence, the prompt identification of fires is essential in order to provide prompt reactions and effective mitigation strategies. However, conventional detection systems exhibit limited efficacy and accuracy in detecting targets, which has been mostly attributed to limitations imposed by distance constraints and the motion of ships. Although the development of deep learning algorithms provides a potential solution, the computational complexity of ship fire detection algorithm pose significant challenges. To solve this, this paper proposes a lightweight ship fire detection algorithm based on YOLOv8n. Initially, a dataset, including more than 4000 unduplicated images and their labels, is established before training. In order to ensure the performance of algorithms, both fire inside ship rooms and also fire on board are considered. Then after tests, YOLOv8n is selected as the model with the best performance and fastest speed from among several advanced object detection algorithms. GhostnetV2-C2F is then inserted in the backbone of the algorithm for long-range attention with inexpensive operation. In addition, spatial and channel reconstruction convolution (SCConv) is used to reduce redundant features with significantly lower complexity and computational costs for real-time ship fire detection. For the neck part, omni-dimensional dynamic convolution is used for the multi-dimensional attention mechanism, which also lowers the parameters. After these improvements, a lighter and more accurate YOLOv8n algorithm, called Ship-Fire Net, was proposed. The proposed method exceeds 0.93, both in precision and recall for fire and smoke detection in ships. In addition, the mAP@0.5 reaches about 0.9. Despite the improvement in accuracy, Ship-Fire Net also has fewer parameters and lower FLOPs compared to the original, which accelerates its detection speed. In the application of Compressive Sensing (CS) theory for sidelobe suppression in Random Frequency and Pulse Repetition Interval Agile (RFPA) radar, the off−grid issues affect the performance of target parameter estimation in RFPA radar. Therefore, to address this issue, this paper presents an off−grid CS algorithm named Refinement and Generalized Double Pareto (GDP) distribution based on Sparse Bayesian Learning (RGDP−SBL) for RFPA radar that utilizes a coarse−to−fine grid refinement approach, allowing precise and cost−effective signal recovery while mitigating the impact of off−grid issues on target parameter estimation. To obtain a high-precision signal recovery, especially in scenarios involving closely spaced targets, the RGDP−SBL algorithm makes use of a three−level hierarchical prior model. Furthermore, the RGDP−SBL algorithm efficiently utilizes diagonal elements during the coarse search and exploits the convexity of the grid energy curve during the fine search, therefore significantly reducing computational complexity. Aiming to address power consumption issues of various equipment in metro stations and the inefficiency of peak shaving and valley filling in the power supply system, this study presents an economic optimization scheduling method for the multi-modal "source-network-load-storage" system in metro stations. The proposed method, called the Improved Gray Wolf Optimization Algorithm (IGWO), utilizes objective evaluation criteria to achieve economic optimization. First, construct a mathematical model of the "sourcenet-work-load-storage" joint system with the metro station at its core. This model should consider the electricity consumption within the station. Secondly, a two-layer optimal scheduling model is established, with the upper model aiming to optimize peak elimination and valley filling, and the lower model aiming to minimize electricity consumption costs within a scheduling cycle. Finally, this paper introduces the IGWO optimization approach, which utilizes meta-models and the Improved Gray Wolf Optimization Algorithm to address the nonlinearity and computational complexity of the two-layer model. The analysis shows that the proposed model and algorithm can improve the solution speed and minimize the cost of electricity used by about 5.5% to 8.7% on the one hand, and on the other hand, it improves the solution accuracy, and at the same time effectively realizes the peak shaving and valley filling, which provides a proof of the effectiveness and feasibility of the new method. Structure-preserving doubling algorithms (SDAs) are efficient algorithms for solving Riccati-type matrix equations. However, breakdowns may occur in SDAs. To remedy this drawback, in this paper, we first introduce Ω -symplectic forms (Ω -SFs), consisting of symplectic matrix pairs with a Hermitian parametric matrix Ω. Based on Ω -SFs, we develop modified SDAs (MSDAs) for solving the associated Riccati-type equations. MSDAs generate sequences of symplectic matrix pairs in Ω -SFs and prevent breakdowns by employing a reasonably selected Hermitian matrix Ω. In practical implementations, we show that the Hermitian matrix Ω in MSDAs can be chosen as a real diagonal matrix that can reduce the computational complexity. Printed circuit boards (PCBs) play a critical role in electronic products. Ensuring these products' long-term reliability and consistent performance requires effective PCB defect detection. Although existing deep learning models for PCB defect detection are not highly accurate, they often neglect capability considerations. This paper introduces a precise, fast, and lightweight defect detection model, CCG-YOLO, based on an enhanced YOLOv5 model to address this issue. The enhancements in CCG-YOLO can be summarized as follows: (1) Improved Backbone network: The feature extraction ability of the Backbone network is enhanced by introducing a C3HB module, which fosters spatial interaction capabilities. (2) Lightweight feature fusion network: A lightweight convolution structure called Ghost-Shuffle Convolution is incorporated in the feature fusion network, remarkably reducing model parameters while maintaining performance. (3) Efficient residual networking: To enhance model performance further, a CNeB module is introduced based on the ConvNeXt network, which replaces the C3 module in the Neck. CNeB improves model detection accuracy and reduces the number of model parameters. The combination of these enhancements results in impressive performance. CCG-YOLO achieves mean average precision (mAP@0.5) of 99.5% and 88.75% in mAP@0.5:0.95 on the TDD-Net public dataset. Compared with the original YOLOv5s algorithm, CCG-YOLO offers a 4.24% improvement in mAP@0.5:0.95, a 1 MB reduction in model size, a 0.472 M decrease in the number of parameters, a 0.6G floating point operation reduction in computational complexity, and a 120 frames per second real-time inference speed. These experimental results underscore that the proposed model excels in accuracy and speed and has a compact size for PCB defect detection. Summary: Localization algorithms are essential for tracking, fault tolerance, and adding location context to Internet of Things (IoT) networks. Among the various range‐free techniques, DV‐Hop stands out for its lower computational complexity. Despite efforts to minimize manufacturing costs for sensors, they often find themselves deployed in remote and hard‐to‐access locations, making battery replacement a challenging prospect. These sensors can be utilized in a hostile environment, such as a field of battle, fires, floods, and earthquakes. In these types of scenarios, the sensors can become dead and stop communicating with each other. Hence, there is a critical need to improve algorithms that can tolerate and detect faults in network nodes. The faults of the sensor can lower the quality of the algorithm if they are not replaced. In such situations, we need to distribute supplementary target nodes to replace faulty nodes. This paper presented an improved DV‐Hop based method for localization of additional target nodes using grey wolf optimization (GWO). Lossless image compression techniques shrink the image size to improve the transmission efficiency and reduce the occupied storage space while ensuring the quality of the image is lossless. Among them, the LOCO‐I/JPEG‐LS algorithm benefits high lossless compression ratio and low computational complexity and thus is widely used for various real‐time applications. However, due to the problems of the context dependency in the LOCO‐I, the parallelism in the algorithm is greatly constrained, which significantly limits the throughput and the real‐time performance of hardware implementations. Existing designs achieve more parallelism by using a lot of hardware costs or straightforward chunking with losing compression ratio. In order to trade off the parallelism and the compression ratio, this paper proposes a chunk‐oriented error modeling scheme for LOCO‐I, which enables parallelism in both compression and decompression and achieves a better compression ratio in chunks. Based on the optimized algorithm, a high‐throughput flexible lossless compression and decompression architecture (HFCD) is proposed, which achieves higher pixel per clock (PPC) with less hardware cost. Additionally, HFCD introduces a parameter sharing mechanism to enable random access of image chunks to improve the flexibility for decompression. Experimental results show that, compared with state‐of‐the‐art works, HFCD achieves 3.02–13.50 times improvement for the PPC of compression. The multi-state flow network (MSFN) serves as a fundamental framework for real-life network-structured systems and various applications. The system reliability of the MSFN, denoted as Rd, is defined as the probability of successfully transmitting at least d units of demand from a source to a terminal. Current analytical algorithms are characterized by their computational complexity, specifically falling into the NP-hard problem to evaluate exact system reliability. Moreover, existing analytical algorithms for calculating Rd are basically designed for predetermined values of d. Graph matching is a commonly used technique in computer vision and pattern recognition. Recent data-driven approaches have improved the graph matching accuracy remarkably, whereas some traditional algorithm-based methods are more robust to feature noises, outlier nodes, and global transformation (e.g. rotation). In this paper, we propose a graph neural network (GNN) based approach to combine the advantage of data-driven and traditional methods. In the GNN framework, we transform traditional graph matching solvers as single-channel GNNs on the association graph and extend the single-channel architecture to the multi-channel network. The proposed model can be seen as an ensemble method that fuses multiple algorithms at every iteration. Instead of averaging the estimates at the end of the ensemble, in our approach, the independent iterations of the ensembled algorithms exchange their information after each iteration via a 1 × 1 channel-wise convolution layer. Experiments show that our model improves the performance of traditional algorithms significantly. In addition, we propose a random sampling strategy to reduce the computational complexity and GPU memory usage, so that the model is applicable to matching graphs with thousands of nodes. We evaluate the performance of our method on three tasks: geometric graph matching, semantic feature matching, and few-shot 3D shape classification. Existing sea surface small target detection methods typically rely on intricate feature extraction techniques on transformed radar returns. However, these approaches suffer from issues of high computational complexity and low real-time performance. Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) can enable direct processing of radar time-series echo data without the need for elaborate feature extraction, thus substantially improving computational efficiency. Building upon this, this paper presents a novel target detection algorithm based on Multi-layer Attention Temporal Convolutional Network (MA-TCN). The proposed algorithm processes the amplitude information in the original echo signals, and comprehensively extracts sequence feature information through the construction of stacked residual modules. Additionally, it integrates multi-layer attention mechanisms to adaptively adjust the output weights of each residual module, thereby further enhancing detection accuracy. The aim of this paper is to implement the high-order local discontinuous Galerkin method (LDGM) for solving partial integro-differential equations (PIDEs) in two dimensions. Time marching method and the transform-based method known as the non-time marching method can be used to discretize temporal terms. The combination of a small time step size in time marching methods and a high-order scheme in space with many degrees of freedom requires a considerable amount of computational time. In order to address this limitation, we propose an algorithm based on a combination of the Laplace transform and LDGM for solving fourth-order time-fractional (TF) PIDEs with weakly singular kernels. Unlike time-marching approaches, the transform-based method has a much lower computational complexity and can take advantage of parallel computing. A numerical experiment validates the accuracy and applicability of the proposed temporal discretization approach and also shows that k-degree LDG solutions have a k + 1 convergence rate. Approximate computing is a technique for optimising algorithms while taking into account both application quality of service and computational complexity. Video encoding is a computationally difficult operation, and the complexity is growing as new compression standards, such as Versatile Video Coding (VVC), emerge. Because it uses several new coding methods, the VVC standard delivers superior video compression. However, the human perceptual constraint presents a good chance for a new alternative form of computation, such as approximation computing, which allows for some acceptable level of inaccuracy in the output. In this paper, first, the VVC coding tools are analysed to determine the most computationally complex functions of various coding tools as the best candidates to perform approximate computing. Because addition is a frequent operation employed in all reletaed functions of various coding tools and no one would be feasible without an efficient adder circuit, correct approximate computing is done to the adder circuits of these chosen candidate functions. Secondly, it enumerated the application scenarios of NeRF to provide references for future, more efficient and practical algorithmic optimizations. This paper proposes a deterministic nonce generation technique to address the catastrophic issues associated with nonce reuse in message signing and to enhance the efficiency of Schnorr multi-signature schemes. Additionally, this research aims to reduce computational complexity and bandwidth requirements in digital and multi-signature schemes while maintaining robust security against common attacks. The proposed method was inspired by the EdDSA approach. The methodology includes a comprehensive mathematical analysis of digital signature algorithms and a rigorous examination of their vulnerabilities to well-known cryptographic attacks. This analysis evaluates the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed nonce generation technique within the frameworks of the Schnorr digital signature and the two-round MuSig schemes. Techniques and tools employed in this research involve deterministically generating nonces by hashing the private key and subsequently hashing the result with the message. Furthermore, it is proposed to exclude the public nonce R from the challenge calculations and to allow signers to directly prove possession of their secret keys through the aggregated public key, thereby eliminating the need for non-interactive zero-knowledge (NIZK) proofs. The findings demonstrate significant reductions in computational complexity and operational requirements, thereby improving bandwidth efficiency and making this method well-suited for resource-constrained devices. This study proposes an privacy-protection method for blockchain transactions based on lightweight homomorphic encryption, aiming to ensure the security of transaction data and user privacy, and improve transaction efficiency. We have built a blockchain infrastructure and, based on its structural characteristics, adopted zero-knowledge proof technology to verify the legitimacy of data, ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of transactions from the application end to the smart-contract end. On this basis, the Paillier algorithm is used for key generation, encryption, and decryption, and intelligent protection of blockchain transaction privacy is achieved through a secondary encryption mechanism. The experimental results show that this method performs well in privacy and security protection, with a data leakage probability as low as 2.8%, and can effectively defend against replay attacks and forged-transaction attacks. The degree of confusion remains above 0.9, with small fluctuations and short running time under different key lengths and moderate CPU usage, achieving lightweight homomorphic encryption. This not only ensures the security and privacy of transaction data in blockchain networks, but also reduces computational complexity and resource consumption, better adapting to the high-concurrency and low-latency characteristics of blockchain networks, thereby ensuring the efficiency and real-time performance of transactions.
