The gig economy and gig work have grown quickly in recent years and have drawn much attention from researchers in different fields. Because the platform mediated gig economy is a relatively new phenomenon, studies have produced a range of interesting findings; of interest here are the socio‐technical issues that this work has surfaced. This systematic literature review (SLR) provides a snapshot of a range of socio‐technical issues raised in the last 12 years of literature focused on the platform mediated gig economy. Based on a sample of 515 papers gathered from nine databases in multiple disciplines, 132 were coded that specifically studied the gig economy, gig work, and gig workers. Three main socio‐technical themes were identified: (1) the digital workplace, which includes information infrastructure and digital labor that are related to the nature of gig work and the user agency; (2) algorithmic management, which includes platform governance, performance management, information asymmetry, power asymmetry, and system manipulation, relying on a diverse set of technological tools including algorithms and big data analytics; (3) ethical design, as a relevant value set that gig workers expect from the platform, which includes trust, fairness, equality, privacy, and transparency. A social informatics perspective is used to rethink the relationship between gig workers and platforms, extract the socio‐technical issues noted in prior research, and discuss the underexplored aspects of the platform mediated gig economy. The results draw attention to understudied yet critically important socio‐technical issues in the gig economy that suggest short‐ and long‐term opportunities for future research directions. In recent years, with the development of low‐earth orbit broadband satellites, the combination of multi‐path transmission and software‐defined networking (SDN) for satellite networks has seen rapid advancement. The integration of SDN and multi‐path transmission contributes to improving the efficiency of transmission and reducing network congestion. However, the current SDN controllers do not support the multi‐path QUIC protocol (MPQUIC), and the routing algorithm used in current satellite networks based on minimum hop count struggles to meet the real‐time requirements for some applications. Therefore, this paper designs and implements an SDN controller that supports the MPQUIC protocol and proposes a multi‐objective optimization‐based routing algorithm. This algorithm selects paths with lower propagation delays and higher available bandwidth for subflow transmission to improve transmission throughput. Considering the high‐speed mobility of satellite nodes and frequent link switching, this paper also designs a flow table update algorithm based on the predictability of satellite network topology. It enables proactive rerouting upon link switching, ensuring stable transmission. The performance of the proposed solution is evaluated through satellite network simulation environments. The experimental results highlight that SDN‐MPQUIC significantly improves performance metrics: it reduces average completion time by 37.3% to 59.3% compared to QSMPS and by 52.8% to 72.4% compared to Disjoint for files with different sizes. Additionally, SDN‐MPQUIC achieves an average throughput improvement of 81.4% compared to QSMPS and 147.8% compared to Disjoint, while demonstrating a 26.3% lower retransmission rate than QSMPS. Communication security has become particularly crucial with the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, a prevalent method in wireless communication, has a wide range of applications in the Internet of Things. Enhancing the security of frequency hopping sequences is an essential means to improve the security of frequency hopping communication in the Internet of Things, as the performance of frequency hopping sequences plays a crucial role in frequency hopping systems. This paper proposes constructing secure adaptive frequency hopping sequence sets based on the advanced encryption standard (AES) algorithm. As a block cipher algorithm with superior security, the AES algorithm can provide a fundamental guarantee for the security of the proposed frequency hopping sequences. The mapping methods from ciphertext sequences to frequency hopping sequences proposed in this paper can achieve the construction of frequency hopping sequences of any frequency set size to meet the requirements of adaptive frequency hopping. In addition, we also model and analyse the problem of overlapping spectrum band of the IoT groups in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band, aiming to achieve better packet transmission performance by adjusting the frequency set size. Visual SLAM algorithms can obtain a large amount of texture information from the environment and usually perform very well in static scenes, but there are a large number of irregular dynamic points when running in dynamic scenes, which can lead to increased error in SLAM feature point matching and loss of tracking localization. To address this challenge this paper proposes a SLAM system (YVG‐SLAM) that adapts to dynamic scenes. YVG‐SLAM is an improvement on the ORB‐SLAM3 algorithm, integrating the view geometry algorithm and the current powerful YOLOv5 algorithm, while proposing a dynamic feature removal strategy without a priori assumptions to reduce the influence of dynamic targets. In this paper, we first lighten the YOLOv5 algorithm, then process the image frame to get the bounding box, then use the view geometry algorithm to determine the dynamic feature points on the image frame, and finally remove the moving objects in the image frame according to the dynamic feature recognition strategy proposed in this paper. The performance of the algorithm is tested on the TUM RGB‐D and BONN RGB‐D datasets. The experimental results show that the robustness of the proposed algorithm on most video sequences is better than the existing SLAM algorithms dealing with dynamic scenes such as Detect‐SLAM and DynaSLAM, and the RMSE index of the absolute trajectory error measured on high‐speed dynamic video sequences can be significantly reduced by more than 93% compared to ORB‐SLAM3. © 2024 Institute of Electrical Engineer of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC. Background: CT reconstruction is of essential importance in medical imaging. In 2022, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) sponsored a Grand Challenge to investigate the challenging inverse problem of spectral CT reconstruction, with the aim of achieving the most accurate reconstruction results. The authors of this paper participated in the challenge and won as a runner‐up team. Purpose: This paper reports details of our PROSPECT algorithm (Prior‐based Restricted‐variable Optimization for SPEctral CT) and follow‐up studies regarding the algorithm's accuracy and enhancement of its convergence speed. Methods: We formulated the reconstruction task as an optimization problem. PROSPECT employed a one‐step backward iterative scheme to solve this optimization problem by allowing estimation of and correction for the difference between the actual polychromatic projection model and the monochromatic model used in the optimization problem. PROSPECT incorporated various forms of prior information derived by analyzing training data provided by the Grand Challenge to reduce the number of unknown variables. We investigated the impact of projection data precision on the resulting solution accuracy and improved convergence speed of the PROSPECT algorithm by incorporating a beam‐hardening correction (BHC) step in the iterative process. We also studied the algorithm's performance under noisy projection data. Results: Prior knowledge allowed a reduction of the number of unknown variables by 85.9%$85.9\%$. PROSPECT algorithm achieved the average root of mean square error (RMSE) of 3.3×10−6$3.3\,\times \,10^{-6}$ in the test data set provided by the Grand Challenge. Performing the reconstruction with the same algorithm but using double‐precision projection data reduced RMSE to 1.2×10−11$1.2\,\times \,10^{-11}$. Including the BHC step in the PROSPECT algorithm accelerated the iteration process with a 40% reduction in computation time. Background: Dementia is a cognitive decline that leads to the progressive deterioration of an individual's ability to perform daily activities independently. As a result, a considerable amount of time and resources are spent on caretaking. Early detection of dementia can significantly reduce the effort and resources needed for caretaking. Aims: This research proposes an approach for assessing cognitive decline by analysing speech data, specifically focusing on speech relevance as a crucial indicator for memory recall. Methods & Procedures: This is a cross‐sectional, online, self‐administered. The proposed method used deep learning architecture based on transformers, with BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) and Sentence‐Transformer to derive encoded representations of speech transcripts. These representations provide contextually descriptive information that is used to analyse the relevance of sentences in their respective contexts. The encoded information is then compared using cosine similarity metrics to measure the relevance of uttered sequences of sentences. The study uses the Pitt Corpus Dementia dataset for experimentation, which consists of speech data from individuals with and without dementia. The accuracy of the proposed multi‐QA‐MPNet (Multi‐Query Maximum Inner Product Search Pretraining) model is compared with other pretrained transformer models of Sentence‐Transformer. Outcomes & Results: The results show that the proposed approach outperforms the other models in capturing context level information, particularly semantic memory. Additionally, the study explores the suitability of different similarity measures to evaluate the relevance of uttered sequences of sentences. The experimentation reveals that cosine similarity is the most appropriate measure for this task. Conclusions & Implications: This finding has significant implications for the early warning signs of dementia, as it suggests that cosine similarity metrics can effectively capture the semantic relevance of spoken language. The persistent cognitive decline over time acts as one of the indicators for prevalence of dementia. Additionally early dementia could be recognised by analysis on other modalities like speech and brain images. Like information science more broadly, search engine research has largely been fragmented into two factions: system‐oriented and user‐oriented studies. This limits our capacity for answering some fundamental questions surrounding an integral—often invisible—part of modern life. Given the "search‐ification" of this life, given an oligopolous global market and an information‐wealthy but attention‐poor audience, methods capable of studying search engines, as well as their relationship with users and society are increasingly necessary. This paper proposes critical discourse analysis (CDA) as an effectual, oft‐overlooked method for search engine research, one capable of interrogating both search engines and their use. The paper outlines CDA, provides examples of its application, and highlights its capacity for progressing our critical understanding of search engines. This developing understanding, evidenced by a review of the literature, suggests that challenges brought by search cannot be resolved by critiquing the power of systems alone. Rather, a reclaiming of today's information infrastructure requires we also illuminate the socio‐political environments of search systems, and the metacognitive, invisible processes pivotal to our communication with them. While power‐analyses of search continue, and some have begun to employ CDA, little recognition exists of this theoretical perspective's capacity for supporting both system‐oriented and user‐oriented studies. This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning algorithm to achieve complete coverage path planning for deep‐sea mining vehicle clusters. First, the mining vehicles and the deep‐sea mining environment are modeled. Then, this paper implements a series of algorithm designs and optimizations based on Deep Q Networks (DQN). The map fusion mechanism can integrate the grid matrix data from multiple mining vehicles to get the state matrix of the complete environment. In this paper, a preprocessing method for the state matrix is also designed to provide suitable training data for the neural network. The reward function and action selection mechanism of the algorithm are also optimized according to the requirements of cluster cooperative operation. Furthermore, the algorithm uses distance constraints to prevent the entanglement of underwater hoses. To improve the training efficiency of the neural network, the algorithm filters and extracts training samples for training through the sample quality score. Considering the requirement of cluster complete coverage mission, this paper introduces Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) based on the neural network to achieve a better training effect. The purpose of this study was to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) methods have affected the field of drug development. It looks at how AI models and data resources are reshaping the drug development process by offering more affordable and expedient options to conventional approaches. The paper opens with an overview of well‐known information sources for drug development. The discussion then moves on to molecular representation techniques that make it possible to convert data into representations that computers can understand. The paper also gives a general overview of the algorithms used in the creation of drug discovery models based on AI. In particular, the paper looks at how AI algorithms might be used to forecast drug toxicity, drug bioactivity, and drug physicochemical properties. De novo drug design, binding affinity prediction, and other AI‐based models for drug–target interaction were covered in deeper detail. Modern applications of AI in nanomedicine design and pharmacological synergism/antagonism prediction were also covered. The potential advantages of AI in drug development are highlighted as the evaluation comes to a close. It underlines how AI may greatly speed up and improve the efficiency of drug discovery, resulting in the creation of new and better medicines. Clustering is a technique used to partition a dataset into groups of similar elements. In addition to traditional clustering methods, clustering for probability density functions (CDF) has been studied to capture data uncertainty. In CDF, automatic clustering is a clever technique that can determine the number of clusters automatically. However, current automatic clustering algorithms update the new probability density function (pdf) fi(t)$$ {f}_i(t) $$ based on the weighted mean of all previous pdfs fj(t−1),j=1,2,...,N$$ {f}_j\left(t-1\right),j=1,2,\dots, N $$, resulting in slow convergence. This paper proposes an efficient automatic clustering algorithm for pdfs. In the proposed approach, the update of fi(t)$$ {f}_i(t) $$ is based on the weighted mean of f1(t),f2(t),...,fi−1(t),fi(t−1),fi+1(t−1),...,fN(t−1)$$ \left\{{f}_1(t),{f}_2(t),\dots, {f}_{i-1}(t),{f}_i\left(t-1\right),{f}_{i+1}\left(t-1\right),\dots, {f}_N\left(t-1\right)\right\} $$, where N$$ N $$ is the number of pdfs and i=1,2,...,N$$ i=1,2,\dots, N $$. This technique allows for the incorporation of recently updated pdfs, leading to faster convergence. This paper also pioneers the applications of certain CDF algorithms in the field of surface image recognition. The numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method can result in a rapid convergence at some early iterations. It also outperforms other state‐of‐the‐art automatic clustering methods in terms of the Adjusted Rand Index and the Normalized Mutual Information. Additionally, the proposed algorithm proves to be competitive when clustering material images contaminated by noise. This paper addresses the resource allocation (RA) for ultra‐dense network (UDN), where base stations (BSs) are densely deployed to meet the demands of future wireless communications. However, the design of RA in UDN is challenging, as the RA problem is non‐convex and NP‐hard. Therefore, this paper considers and studies a semi‐distributed resource block (RB) allocation scheme, in order to achieve a well‐balanced trade‐off between performance and complexity. In the context of semi‐distributed RB allocation scheme, the problem can be decomposed into the subproblem of clustering and the subproblem of cluster‐based RB allocation. We first improve the K‐means clustering algorithm by employing the Gaussian modified method, which can significantly decrease the number of iterations for carrying out the K‐means algorithm as well as the failure possibility of clustering. Then, bat algorithm (BA) is introduced to attack the problem of cluster‐based RB allocation. In order to make the original BA applicable to the problem of RB allocation, chaotic sequences are adopted to discretize the initial position of the bats, and simultaneously increase the population diversity of the bats. Furthermore, in order to speed up the convergence of BA, the logarithmic decreasing inertia weight is employed for improving the original BA. Summary: This paper proposes leaky least mean fourth (LLMF) algorithm for the control of five‐level series connected H‐bridge multilevel inverter (5L SCHB‐MLI). The SCHB multilevel inverter is a popular configuration due to its wide application for high‐power and medium‐voltage applications. The complete system comprising the grid, load, and compensator is modeled in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Prototype hardware is also developed in the laboratory for experimental validation. The 5L SCHB inverter is connected in a single‐phase power distribution system and controlled as a compensator. The voltage across both DC links of the H‐bridges is regulated to almost equal value by the proposed control algorithm. The closed loop system is designed to mitigate total harmonic distortion (THD) in the source current and improve the power quality of the proposed system. The system is analyzed under the steady state and dynamic state, and the results are also verified on the hardware prototype developed in the laboratory. The proposed algorithm is also compared with conventional least means square (LMS) algorithm and notch filter algorithm on several parameters. The traditional infrared inspection of substations is usually done by employees with handheld infrared equipment, but the traditional inspection efficiency is not high, and some of the inspection locations have harsh environments, high voltage levels, and high‐risk factors. Given the above problems, this paper proposes an improved defect detection algorithm for substations based on YOLO v7 to solve the difficult problem of infrared inspection of substations. First, the lighter SE‐GhostNetV2 feature extraction network is designed to reduce the computation volume; second, the de‐weighted BIFPN structure is designed for the substation infrared image features to improve the ability of information interaction; finally, the new C‐NWD Loss is proposed to realize the detection of smaller substation equipment and reducing missed detections. The experimental results show that the hybrid accuracy of the algorithm designed in this paper is improved from 92.1% to 96.6%, the model parameters are reduced by 40.1%, the computation amount is reduced by 65%, the detection speed is improved by 87 FPS, and the false detection and missed detections is less, which can achieve real‐time infrared inspection of substations and solve the difficulties existing in traditional substation infrared detection. Macro‐Raman mapping is an approach that is well suited to study the distribution of molecules over a surface of typically several cm2, such as the pigment distribution on a painting. During such an experiment, thousands Raman spectra are recorded in a predefined array of points. As there can be a huge difference in Raman sensitivity between different molecules, an alternative approach is proposed, where measurement times are adapted according to the quality of the Raman scatterer. Therefore, an iterative process is implemented, involving recording short accumulations, followed by a quick evaluation. As soon as the accumulated spectrum reaches a quality criterium, measurement of the next point is started, while in the other case further accumulations are added. The influence of using multiple accumulations opposite to a single measurement for a prolonged period has been assessed by comparing the overall measurement time and the spectral intensity of the main Raman band (520.5 cm−1) of silicon. Another prerequisite for this algorithm to be successful is the need for a quick and reliable evaluation of the spectral quality. This was examined by applying this function on the accumulations of Raman spectra of 49 paint samples from a colour chart. Finally, the variable‐accumulation algorithm is applied during a macro‐Raman mapping experiment of a watercolour painting on paper. Despite a significant gain in overall measuring time, this novel approach yields a qualitative data set that can be used for creating clear Raman maps, using different data processing methods. The rapid growth in computational power, sensor technology, and wearable devices has provided a solid foundation for all aspects of cardiac arrhythmia care. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been instrumental in bringing about significant changes in the prevention, risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of arrhythmia. This review examines the current state of AI in the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular arrhythmia, ventricular arrhythmia, hereditary channelopathies, and cardiac pacing. Furthermore, ChatGPT, which has gained attention recently, is addressed in this paper along with its potential applications in the field of arrhythmia. Additionally, the accuracy of arrhythmia diagnosis can be improved by identifying electrode misplacement or erroneous swapping of electrode position using AI. Remote monitoring has expanded greatly due to the emergence of contactless monitoring technology as wearable devices continue to develop and flourish. Parallel advances in AI computing power, ChatGPT, availability of large data sets, and more have greatly expanded applications in arrhythmia diagnosis, risk assessment, and treatment. More precise algorithms based on big data, personalized risk assessment, telemedicine and mobile health, smart hardware and wearables, and the exploration of rare or complex types of arrhythmia are the future direction. Summary: Concurrent software needs to be maintained over time, and the differences between continuous versions tend to be localized. The expense that simply reapplying standard model checking techniques to the new version as they evolve may be infeasible. The existing methods reuse partial state‐space to reduce the scope. However, it is obviously costly to analyze on the explosive interleaving space of the evolving concurrent programs. The conservative change‐impact analysis methods without considering the specific property and leveraging the verified result from the prior version often results in exploring redundant state‐space irrelevant to this property. Moreover, the impact of the deleted elements needs to be analyzed on old version, and their impact needs to be mapped to new version, bringing some dispensable costs. In this paper, we propose a change‐aware model checking method based on program dependence net (PDNet) for linear temporal logic (LTL). We first propose an incremental modeling method to construct a PDNet of new version by modification rules. Then, we propose a reuse checking algorithm to judge whether the verified result can be reused based on the PDNet slice. Software projects grow larger every year, which, in turn, makes the testing process harder. One of the most useful methods for testing large projects is unit‐test generation. However, some tests can repeatedly cover the same parts of the code, making it difficult to maintain a growing test codebase. In software testing, test suite minimization plays a crucial role in reducing the cost of testing and improving the efficiency of the testing process. In this paper, we provide an extensible minimization engine that detects redundant tests using one of the supported minimization algorithms without changing the coverage metrics. We also performed a comprehensive analysis of existing approaches and techniques, developed an engine structure, and implemented multiple algorithms of different kinds. Evidence of cognition in aneural cells is well‐establish in the literature. This paper extends the exploration of the mechanisms of cognition by considering whether or not aneural cells may be capable of irrational cognition, making associations based on coincidental similarities and circumstantial factors. If aneural cells do harness such semiosic qualities, as with higher‐level creativity, this might be how they are able to overcome old algorithms and invent tools for new situations. I will look at three examples of irrational learning in aneural systems in terms of semiotics: (1) generalisation in the immune system, based on viral molecular mimicry, whereby immune cells attack the self, which seems to be an overgeneralisation of an icon sign based on mere similarity, not identity, (2) the classical conditioning of pea plants to trope toward wind as a sign of light, which seems to be an association of an index sign based on mere temporal proximity, and (3) a pharmaceutical intervention to prevent pregnancy, using a conjugate to encrypt self with non‐self, which seems to be an example of symbol use. We identify irrational cognition easily when it leads to 'wrong' outcomes, but, if it occurs, it may also lead to favourable outcomes and 'creative' solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes a new algorithm based on sensitivity analysis and the Wolfe method to solve a sequence of parametric quadratic programming (QP) problems such as those that arise in quadratic model predictive control (QMPC). The Wolfe method, based on Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions, has been used to convert parametric QP problems to parametric linear programming (LP) problems, and then the sensitivity analysis is applied to solve the sequence of the parametric LP problems. This strategy obtains sensitivity analysis‐based QMPC (SA‐QMPC) algorithm. It is proved that the computational complexity of SA‐QMPC is O(Nn2)$O(Nn^2)$ for a region of the initial conditions and O(N2n2)$O(N^2n^2)$ for sufficiently small sampling time and all initial conditions, where N$N$ and n$n$ are the horizon time and dimension of the state vector, respectively. Summary: In order to achieve efficiency extremum of power conversion independent of parameter values and operational mode, an adaptive dual‐controller on‐line efficiency optimization method is presented in this paper. Firstly, based on tri‐modal analysis for four‐switch buck‐boost (FSBB) converter, efficiency extremum analysis is given and existed for such this converter. Then, adaptive dual controller on‐line efficiency seeking algorithm is shown to adaptive two variables for efficiency optimization and output voltage regulation. Furthermore, perturb and observe detector is described to realize control variables decoupling of dual‐controller and to prevent the instability of the whole system during the algorithm tuning process and to improve the algorithm speed of the dual controller. The proposed method is model independent and does not depend on the circuit parameter values. The detail implement of algorithm and performance analysis is given, and the experimental platform and experimental results are put forward to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. Estimating clean seismic signals from noisy single‐channel records is a hot research topic in the field of microseismic data processing. Due to the existence of strong random noise, the signal‐to‐noise ratio of such data is low, presenting a challenge for signal restoration. In this paper, we propose a denoising method of microseismic data based on a single‐channel phase space reconstruction and independent component analysis algorithm. Specifically, we first apply the phase space reconstruction to transform the one‐dimensional seismic signal into a high‐dimensional phase space in which signal and noise have different trajectories. We then employ independent component analysis to the reconstructed data for noise separation. Experimental results on real microseismic data verify that our proposed denoising method is useful for noise suppression and can enhance the signal‐to‐noise ratio of data, which can be further used for signal identification and event positioning in microseismic monitoring. Background: Malnutrition is associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Early detection is important for timely intervention. This paper assesses the ability of a machine learning screening tool (MUST‐Plus) implemented in registered dietitian (RD) workflow to identify malnourished patients early in the hospital stay and to improve the diagnosis and documentation rate of malnutrition. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted in a large, urban health system in New York City comprising six hospitals serving a diverse patient population. The study included all patients aged ≥ 18 years, who were not admitted for COVID‐19 and had a length of stay of ≤ 30 days. Results: Of the 7736 hospitalisations that met the inclusion criteria, 1947 (25.2%) were identified as being malnourished by MUST‐Plus‐assisted RD evaluations. The lag between admission and diagnosis improved with MUST‐Plus implementation. The usability of the tool output by RDs exceeded 90%, showing good acceptance by users. When compared pre‐/post‐implementation, the rate of both diagnoses and documentation of malnutrition showed improvement. Conclusion: MUST‐Plus, a machine learning‐based screening tool, shows great promise as a malnutrition screening tool for hospitalised patients when used in conjunction with adequate RD staffing and training about the tool. It performed well across multiple measures and settings. Other health systems can use their electronic health record data to develop, test and implement similar machine learning‐based processes to improve malnutrition screening and facilitate timely intervention. In this paper, we introduce a new approach based on the excess components of a frame for recognizing norm retrieval frames (NRFs) in finite‐dimensional Hilbert spaces. This method leads to a complete characterization of NRFs in ℝ2$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^2 $$ and ℝ3$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^3 $$ and then to 1‐excess NRFs in ℝn$$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}}^n $$. This approach is not only more effective in higher dimensions for detecting NRF than the previous approaches but is also applicable to constructing NRF from a given Riesz basis. In addition, we establish a relationship between the norm retrievability of a frame and its duals. We also show that, unlike the phase retrieval property, the set of all norm retrievable dual frames is generally not dense in the set of all dual frames. Then, we present numerical results to illustrate the potentiality of the NRF approach in signal recovery with respect to the classical framework in frame theory, and finally, we raise some perspectives and problems concerning NRF. This paper investigates the distributed optimization problem of networked Euler–Lagrange (EL) systems with actuator faults and unknown model parameters. In order to solve this issue, some event‐triggered fault‐tolerant (ETFT) optimal coordination algorithms with the mechanism of intermittent communication and intermittent controller update are designed for the first time to compensate for the impact of physical faults on the system, and reduce communication costs and control resource consumption. For practical applications, it is difficult for the system to have a secure environment if there exist malicious attacks blocking network channels among agents. Therefore, the resilient ETFT optimal coordination with intermittent communication subject to asynchronous denial‐of‐service (DoS) attacks is considered. Especially, auxiliary systems with adaptive gains are introduced in the algorithms due to the unavailability of the EL model parameters, which also enable virtual data exchange between agents and protect actual state information. In response to the low matching accuracy of stereo matching algorithms in image regions with specular reflection, this paper proposes a multidimensional fusion stereo matching algorithm named MFANet. The algorithm embeds a multispectral attention module into the residual feature extraction network, utilizing two‐dimensional discrete cosine transforms to extract frequency features. In the pyramid pooling module, a coordinated attention mechanism is introduced to capture relevant positional information. In the cost aggregation part, the MFANet algorithm incorporates a three‐dimensional attention mechanism, focusing on the more important semantic information in high‐level features. By combining detailed information from low‐level features, semantic information from high‐level features, and contextual information, the algorithm generates features that are more conducive to disparity prediction. The MFANet algorithm is evaluated on three standard datasets (SceneFlow, KITTI2015, and KITTI2012). Experimental results demonstrate its robustness against specular reflection interference, accurate prediction of disparities in specular reflection pathological regions, and promising application prospects. In addressing the challenge of ships being prone to occlusion in multi‐target situations during ship target detection, leading to missed and false detections, this paper proposes an enhanced ship detection algorithm for YOLOv7‐tiny. The proposed method incorporates several key modifications. Firstly, it introduces the Convolutional Block Attention Module in the Backbone section of the original model, emphasizing position information while attending to channel features to enhance the network's ability to extract crucial information. Secondly, it replaces standard convolution with GSConv convolution in the Neck section, preserving detailed information and reducing computational load. Subsequently, the lightweight operator Content‐Aware ReAssembly of Features is employed to replace the original nearest‐neighbour interpolation, mitigating the loss of feature information during the up‐sampling process. Finally, the localization loss function, SIOU Loss, is utilized to calculate loss, expedite training convergence, and enhance detection accuracy. The research results indicate that the precision of the improved model is 91.2%, mAP@0.5 is 94.5%, and the F1‐score is 90.7%. These values are 3.7%, 5.5%, and 4.2% higher than those of the original YOLOv7‐tiny model, respectively. The improved model effectively enhances detection accuracy. A 3D reconstruction enables an effective geometric representation to support various applications. Recently, learning‐based multi‐view stereo (MVS) algorithms have emerged, replacing conventional hand‐crafted features with convolutional neural network‐encoded deep representation to reduce feature matching ambiguity, leading to a more complete scene recovery from imagery data. However, the state‐of‐the‐art architectures are not designed for an indoor environment with abundant weakly textured or textureless objects. This paper proposes AttentionSPP‐PatchmatchNet, a deep learning‐based MVS algorithm designed for indoor 3D reconstruction. The algorithm integrates multi‐scale feature sampling to produce global‐context‐aware feature maps and recalibrates the weight of essential features to tackle challenges posed by indoor environments. A new dataset designed exclusively for indoor environments is presented to verify the performance of the proposed network. Experimental results show that AttentionSPP‐PatchmatchNet outperforms state‐of‐the‐art algorithms with relative 132.87% and 163.55% improvements at the 10 and 2 mm threshold, respectively, making it suitable for accurate and complete indoor 3D reconstruction. In this paper, we study the least squares approximation of a class of Schrödinger equations in split quaternionic mechanics and propose two algebraic algorithms to the generalized right eigen-problem for an i-Hermitian split quaternion matrix pencil by using two isomorphic mappings. In this paper, a new frequency domain behavior model for radio frequency (RF) power transistors based on a hyper‐parameter optimized Gaussian process regression (GPR) method is presented. The chaos game optimization (CGO) algorithm is used to optimize GPR hyperparameters, resulting in the CGO‐GPR model. The basic theory as well as the details of the modeling process are presented. Validation of the model is conducted using a 10‐watt GaN power transistor. Compared to the standard GPR model, the proposed model achieved a significant improvement. Furthermore, the comparison with the particle swarm optimization (PSO) based GPR model (PSO‐GPR) showed that the proposed model allows achieving superior performance, thereby confirming the effectiveness of the developed modeling technique. This paper proposes a lightweight YOLO object detection algorithm based on bidirectional multi‐scale feature enhancement. The problem is that the original YOLOv5 algorithm does not make full use of the relationship between the feature layers, resulting in the loss of target semantic information and a large number of parameters. First, a bidirectional multi‐scale feature‐enhanced weighted fusion backbone network is constructed to extract target features repeatedly. It enhances the fusion ability of shallow detail features and high‐level semantic information to capture richer multi‐scale semantic information. Second, the NCA attention module is built and integrated into the feature fusion network to enhance the critical characteristics of the target region. Finally, the Ghost module is used instead of the convolutional blocks in the original network to lighten the model while reducing the network complexity and training difficulty. Experimental results show that the improved YOLOv5 algorithm achieves 78.8% mAP@0.5 for the PASCAL VOC2012 dataset, which is 1.5% higher than the original algorithm, at 62.5 FPS. The number of parameters is also reduced by 43.6%. Pixel‐level labeling of regions of interest in an image is a key step in building a labeled training dataset for supervised deep learning networks of images. However, traditional manual labeling of cancerous regions in digital pathological images by doctors is time‐consuming and inefficient. To address this issue, this paper proposes an automatic labeling method for whole slide images, which combines clustering and edge detection techniques. The proposed method utilizes the multi‐level feature fusion model and the Long‐Short Term Memory network to discriminate the cancerous nature of the whole slide images, thereby improving the classification accuracy of the whole slide images. Subsequently, the automatic labeling of cancerous regions is achieved by integrating a density‐based clustering algorithm and an edge point extraction algorithm, both based on the discriminated results of the cancerous properties of whole slide images. With the growing use of artificial intelligence, search engine providers are increasingly pushing advertisers to use automated bidding strategies based on machine learning. Such automated decision‐making systems leave advertisers in the dark about the data being used and how they can influence the outcome of the decision‐making process. Previous literature on artificial intelligence lacks an understanding of the dangers related to artificially intelligent systems and their lack of transparency. In response, our paper addresses the inherent risks of the automated optimization of advertisers' bidding strategies in search engine advertising. The selected empirical case of a service company therefore demonstrates how data availability can trigger a long‐term decline in advertising performance and how search engine advertising performance metrics develop before and after an event of data scarcity. Based on data collected for 525 days, difference‐in‐differences analysis shows that the algorithmic approach has a considerable and lasting negative impact on advertising performance. Furthermore, the empirical case indicates that self‐regulated learning can initialize a downward spiral that gradually impairs advertising performance. Thus, the aim of this study is to increase awareness regarding automated decision‐making dangers in search engine advertising and help advertisers take preventive measures to reduce the risks of algorithm missteps. Proper current sharing, DC bus voltage deviation reduction, and SOCs balancing, along with ensuring stability are the vital challenges of DC microgrids control algorithms. Addressing these challenges without communication links and a central controller is one of the priorities of control methods. Motivated by the above mentions, this paper presents a novel communication‐free control method. In this regard, a new parameter called "virtual current" is defined according to the unit current and its SOC. Then using a piecewise droop curve and the droop curve shift technique, the virtual current for each unit is determined. The units control coefficients and the relationship of the virtual current are allocated based on the location and power of the loads and RESs such that in the worst case; 1) SOCs are converged; 2) the DC bus voltage deviation is reduced; and 3) the current is appropriately distributed. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the proposed method can balance SOCs like SOC‐based methods and share power properly like piecewise droop methods while reducing DC bus voltage deviation. Background: Despite its obvious relevance to computer science, computational thinking (CT) is transdisciplinary with the potential of impacting one's analytical ability. Although countless efforts have been invested across K‐12 education, there is a paucity of research at the postsecondary level about the extent to which CT can contribute to sustainable learning outcomes. Objectives: The current study examines how a series of Arduino‐based robotics learning activities capture the fuller essence of concepts related to CT. Methods: College students (n = 50) completed a series of six robotics learning activities. Think‐alouds, student reflections and performance scores were used to assess students' CT through a robotics challenge in virtual and physical learning environments. Results and Conclusions: Students verbalized CT concepts related to algorithmic thinking much more than abstraction, problem decomposition and testing and debugging. Students exposed to active learning performed better in a virtual robotics challenge compared to their peers in a traditional‐oriented classroom. Students' scores on the physical robotics challenge increased as a function of the number of references they made to CT concepts during the think‐alouds. It is possible to design pedagogical experiences that tap into various dimensions of CT at incremental levels of complexity through a series of Arduino‐based robotics activities. With the integration of an online simulation, students can visualize and transfer their CT skills between a virtual and physical learning environment, thus leading to more sustainable learning outcomes. Summary: This paper proposes a distributed joint parameter and state variables estimation algorithm for large‐scale state‐space interconnected systems. In this distributed estimation scheme, each interconnected sub‐system is described by a linear discrete‐time state space mathematical model. Each sub‐system is supposed to be controlled by an intelligent controller that can communicate with its interconnected neighbors and exchange information, such as state variables. The proposed approach comprises two recursive estimation algorithms, a parameter estimation algorithm considering the state space model and a distributed Kalman filter for state variables estimation. Due to the robustness of skeleton data to human scale, illumination changes, dynamic camera views, and complex backgrounds, great progress has been made in skeleton‐based video anomaly detection in recent years. The spatio‐temporal graph convolutional network has been proven to be effective in modelling the spatio‐temporal dependencies of non‐Euclidean data such as human skeleton graphs, and the autoencoder based on this basic unit is widely used to model sequence features. However, due to the limitations of the convolution kernel, the model cannot capture the correlation between non‐adjacent joints, and it is difficult to deal with long‐term sequences, resulting in an insufficient understanding of behaviour. To address this issue, this paper applies the Transformer to the human skeleton and proposes the Spatio‐Temporal Enhanced Graph‐Transformer AutoEncoder (STEGT‐AE) to improve the capability of modelling. In addition, the multi‐memory model with skip connections is employed to provide different levels of coding features, thereby enhancing the ability of the model to distinguish similar heterogeneous behaviours. Furthermore, the STEGT‐AE has a single encoder‐double decoder architecture, which can improve the detection performance by the combining reconstruction and prediction error. Accurate modeling and parameter identification of photovoltaic (PV) cells is a difficult task due to the nonlinear characteristics of PV cells. The goal of this paper is to propose a multi strategy sine–cosine algorithm (SCA), named enhanced sine–cosine algorithm (ESCA), to evaluate nondirectly measurable parameters of PV cells. The ESCA introduces the concept of population average position to increase the population exploration ability, and at the same time introduces the personal destination agent mutation mechanism and competitive selection mechanism into SCA to provide more search directions for ESCA while ensuring the search accuracy and diversity maintenance. To prove that the proposed ESCA is the best choice for extracting nondirectly measurable parameters of PV cells, ESCA is evaluated by the single‐diode model, the double‐diode model, the three‐diode model, and the photovoltaic module model (PVM), and compared with eight existing popular methods. Experimental results show that ESCA outperforms similar methods in terms of diversity maintenance, high efficiency, and stability. In particular, the proposed ESCA method is less than the SCA by 0.081, 0.144, and 0.578 in the standard deviation statistics metrics of the three PVM models (PV‐PWP201, STM6‐40/36, and STP6‐120/36), respectively. The recent clearance by the United States Food and Drug Administration of Tidepool Loop sets an important precedent within the medical device landscape. For the first time, an automated insulin delivery mobile application—based on an algorithm initially designed and developed by users —has been recognised as safe and effective by a regulatory body. The aim of this paper is twofold: firstly, we map out the regulatory pathways and processes that were navigated by Tidepool, the non‐profit behind Tidepool Loop, in order to make this landmark moment possible. Secondly, we set out potential approvals processes in the European Union and United Kingdom with a view to examining the challenges to obtaining regulatory clearance for Tidepool Loop in these jurisdictions. In so doing, we highlight the significant differences, not only between the United States and European systems but also between the European Union and Great Britain systems. We conclude by arguing that the complexity encountered when seeking to introduce an innovative solution in different regulatory systems has the potential to act as a disincentive to open source developers from seeking regulatory approvals for such technologies in the future. Summary: The Internet of Things (IoT) has provided us with various applications that need processing in real‐time. Fog computing has arisen as a highly effective computing paradigm that provides services closer to the IoT devices and hence fulfills the need for rapid response time and delay requirements of IoT applications. However, the heterogeneity of IoT tasks and the limited resources of fog nodes pose considerable challenges to task scheduling. Therefore, the effective utilization of fog resources is highly significant and necessitates an optimal and intelligent approach to task scheduling. This paper presents the "deadline‐cost aware task scheduling" (DCaTS) algorithm, which is designed for fog‐based IoT applications. The primary objective of this algorithm is to minimize the monetary cost while taking into account the deadline requirements and priority of tasks. The efficacy of DCaTS is assessed by analyzing various parameters, including completion time, monetary cost, response time, and waiting time. The experimental results show that in comparison with traditional policies, the proposed algorithm shows superiority in all the parameters. The proposed algorithm reduces the monetary cost up to 11.07% compared with the second best result. The results also indicate that DCaTS achieves a reduction of 10.05% in completion time, 10% in response time, and 10.12% in waiting time compared with the second best result. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Scholarship on when and why humans are willing to rely on algorithms rather than other humans has made substantial progress in recent years, although virtually all such research is based on Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic (WEIRD) research participants. This limits efforts to understand the cultural generalizability of attitudes toward algorithms. In this paper, I study algorithm aversion among participants from over 30 countries on all inhabited continents, thereby significantly increasing the diversity of this field's knowledge base. Furthermore, I leverage this diversity to test a theoretically derived prediction: that perceived corruption makes algorithmic decision‐making more appealing. I find that participants who are born or raised in countries with high levels of perceived corruption are much less averse to algorithmic decision‐making (or, in some studies, are not at all algorithm averse), relative to those from countries with low perceived corruption. Furthermore, experimentally varying corruption salience causes a decrease in algorithm aversion. I explore mechanisms and boundary conditions of these effects and discuss the implications in the context of algorithms that can both increase and decrease injustice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In practice, structural limit state function (LSF) is often combined with finite element (FE) models, and the corresponding time‐dependent reliability assessment (TRA) inevitably involves dealing with computational inefficiency. In this paper, a general moment‐based outcrossing rate (GMO) method is proposed to conduct TRA efficiently, with no limitation in the form of LSF. There are two innovations of GMO method: firstly, an explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate is developed; secondly, a separate algorithm is proposed that facilitates the separation of FE analysis from TRA cycle. The proposed method minimizes the computational cost associated with FE analysis and enables TRA cycle to be conducted more efficiently with the assistance of an explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate and explicit moment‐based outcrossing rate. Three numerical examples are investigated to examine the accuracy and efficiency of GMO method for TRA cycle. GMO method is found from the results that it can efficient and accurate to conduct TRA. The YOLO series of algorithms have made substantial contributions to the detection of insulator defects in power transmission line operations. However, existing target detection algorithms for the small target detection and low‐quality insulator images encounter difficulties in effectively capturing relevant features, resulting in a higher probability of target loss. To identify and classify defects in the operational state of insulators, an improved YOLOv8 target identification algorithm called DGW‐YOLOv8 is proposed in this paper. The deformable attention backbone of the DGW‐YOLOv8 target identification algorithm is designed by adding the deformable ConvNets v2 module and the global attention mechanism. This addition reduces the feature loss caused by the network feature processing, enhances the sensitivity of the algorithm to small‐scale targets, and reduces the impact caused by the different global positions of the targets. Additionally, to address the problem of low quality of captured images, WIoU v3 is used to replace CIoU in the original YOLOv8 target identification algorithm to optimize the loss function, reduce the degrees of freedom, and improve the network robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that the enhanced YOLOv8 algorithm can achieve an improvement of 2.4% and 5.5% in mAP and mAP50‐95, respectively, compared with the original algorithm. At present, in order to conduct non‐destructive testing on the grounding grid of substations under the condition of continuous power supply and no excavation, researchers have applied wireless technology based on electrochemical methods to remotely monitor the corrosion state of grounding conductors online. Nevertheless, wireless signals are affected by the environment when they are transmitted underground. In the field of grounding gird wireless monitoring, how to plan the information transmission path of wireless sensor network (WSN) with high accuracy of data transfer and low energy consumption earns growing research attention. To address the problem of WSN path planning in grounding grid area, a path planning method for WSN based on the hybrid algorithm of map‐matching algorithm and double‐pole search algorithm (MM‐DPS) is proposed in this paper. The map‐matching algorithm is employed to calculate the optimal sampling node number of the data transmission path. On the basis of the optimal sampling node number, the double‐pole search algorithm is employed in seeking out each sensor node of the path, and two groups of path plans are obtained. In the simulation experiment, compared with the A‐star algorithm, the MM‐DPS algorithm shortens the data transmission path length by about 39% and reduces the energy consumption by about 57%. The research work brings a method to alleviate the problem of data transmission underground of WSN in grounding grid area. This paper deals with the orbit tracking and formation motion problems with optimal energies and reduced computational cost. First, the orbit tracking and formation motion are decomposed into movements in the normal and tangent directions of level orbits, respectively, and simultaneously, the optimal value functions in both directions are defined. Then, to reduce the computational cost, a switching threshold event‐triggered (STET) mechanism is designed. Based on the STET mechanism, the optimal value functions are constructed to evaluate the optimal energies of orbit tracking and formation motion. Critic neural networks are then designed to approximate the optimal value functions, which yield the optimal policies along the normal and tangent directions of desired orbits, that is, a so‐called switching threshold event‐triggered critic algorithm (STET‐C). Theoretical analysis of system convergence is given in detail. Finally, two comparison simulations are given. The former intends to verify the optimal energy of STET‐C compared to the feedback controllers. The latter shows that STET‐C significantly reduces the computational cost in contrast with the non‐triggered actor‐critic algorithm, non‐triggered critic algorithm, and the relative threshold event‐triggered critic algorithm. Aiming at the matter of poor precision in predicting the charge of lithium battery by applying conventional integer‐order models and offline parameter identification, this paper proposes a joint fractional‐order multi‐innovations unscented Kalman filter (FOUKF‐FOMIUKF) algorithm for predicting the cells' state of charge (SOC) online and uses the theory of singular‐value decomposition to tackle the issue of failure of the traceless transformation. Initially, the circuitry model of fractional order is built. The parameters of the model are recognized online by fractional‐order unscented Kalman filtering (FOUKF), and the obtained parameters are then transmitted to the method known as the fractional order multi‐innovations unscented Kalman filter (FOMIUKF) to calculate the SOC of the cell. The algorithm was validated under four working conditions such as FUDS (US Federal Urban Driving Distance), BJDST (Beijing Dynamic Stress Test), DST (Dynamic Stress Test), and US06 (Highway Driving Distance Test), respectively, and compared with the FOMIUKF, MIUKF, and FOUKF algorithms for offline identification. The conclusions demonstrate that the SOC estimated by the FOUKF‐FOMIUKF method is controlled within 0.5% of the mean absolute error under the four conditions and the root‐mean‐square error is controlled within 0.8%. In this paper, we deal with the nonlinear fractional pseudo‐parabolic equations (FPPEs). We propose an accurate numerical algorithm for solving the aforementioned well‐known equation. The problem is discretized in the temporal direction by utilizing a graded mesh linearized scheme and in the spatial direction by the Galerkin‐spectral scheme. We investigate the stability conditions of the proposed scheme. We also provide an H1$$ {H}^1 $$ error estimate of the proposed approach to demonstrate that it is convergent with temporal second‐order accuracy for fitted grading parameters. A physical fit is an important observation that can result from the forensic analysis of trace evidence as it conveys a high degree of association between two items. However, physical fit examinations can be time‐consuming, and potential bias from analysts may affect judgment. To overcome these shortcomings, a data analysis algorithm using mutual information and a decision tree has been developed to support practitioners in interpreting the evidence. We created these tools using data obtained from physical fit examinations of duct tape and textiles analyzed in previous studies, along with the reasoning behind the analysts' decisions. The relative feature importance is described by material type, enhancing the knowledge base in this field. Compared with the human analysis, the algorithms provided accuracies above 90%, with an improved rate of true positives for most duct tape subsets. Conversely, false positives were observed in high‐quality scissor cut (HQ‐HT‐S) duct tape and textiles. As such, it is advised to use these algorithms in tandem with human analysis. Furthermore, the study evaluated the accuracy of physical fits when only partial sample lengths are available. The results of this investigation indicated that acceptable accuracies for correctly identifying true fits and non‐fits occurred when at least 35% of a sample length was present. However, lower accuracies were observed for samples prone to stretching or distortion. Therefore, the models described here can provide a valuable supplementary tool but should not be the sole means of evaluating samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

License plate detection is an important task in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and has a wide range of applications in vehicle management, traffic control, and public safety. In order to improve the accuracy and speed of mobile recognition, an improved lightweight YOLOv5s model is proposed for license plate detection. First, an improved Stemblock network is used to replace the original Focus layer in the network, which ensures strong feature expression capability and reduces a large number of parameters to lower the computational complexity; then, an improved lightweight network, ShuffleNetv2, is used to replace the backbone network of the YOLOv5s, which makes the model lighter and ensures the detection accuracy at the same time. Then, a feature enhancement module is designed to reduce the information loss caused by the rearrangement of the backbone network channels, which facilitates the information interaction in the feature fusion process; finally, the low‐, medium‐ and high‐level features in the Shufflenetv2 network structure are fused to form the final high‐level output features. Experimental results on the CCPD dataset show that compared to other methods this paper obtains better performance and faster speed in the license plate detection task, in which the average precision mean value reaches 96.6%, and can achieve a detection speed of 43.86 frame/s, and the parameter volume is reduced to 5.07 M. As a universal approximator, the first order Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy system possesses the capability to approximate widespread nonlinear systems through a group of IF THEN fuzzy rules. Although group lasso regularization has the advantage of inducing group sparsity and handling variable selection issues, it can lead to numerical oscillations and theoretical challenges in calculating the gradient at the origin when employed directly during training. The paper addresses the aforementioned obstacle by invoking a smoothing function to approximate group lasso regularization. On this basis, a gradient‐based neuro fuzzy learning algorithm with smoothing group lasso regularization for the first order Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy system is proposed. The convergence of the proposed algorithm is rigorously proved under gentle conditions. In addition, experimental outcomes acquired on two approximations and two classification simulations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the algorithm with original group lasso regularization and L2 regularization in terms of error, pruned neurons, and accuracy. This is particularly evident in significant advancements in pruned neurons due to group sparsity. In comparison to the algorithm with L2 regularization, the proposed algorithm exhibits improvements of 6.3, 5.3, and 142.6 in pruned neurons during sin(πx)$(\pi x)$ function, Gabor function, and Sonar benchmark dataset simulations, respectively.
