Recent studies have shown the potential of zinc oxide as an additive in diesel engines because of its favorable properties. Goethite, as a metal additive, exhibits good thermodynamic stability and acts as a catalyst carrier to reduce environmental pollution. Incorporating zinc oxide microparticles and goethite nanoparticles into pure palm oil (PPaO) has great potential to improve the fuel properties. Therefore, in this study, the effects of adding zinc oxide microparticles and goethite nanoparticles into PPaO on the engine performance, spray characteristics, and smoke opacity of a diesel engine were investigated. A high-speed camera was used for the spray experiments. The results showed that the use of PPaO significantly increased the smoke opacity by ∼127.89 % compared with diesel fuel (DF). However, the use of PPaO with zinc oxide microparticles (PPaOZnO) and PPaO with goethite nanoparticles (PPaOGOE) significantly reduced the smoke opacity. The reduction in smoke opacity was most pronounced for the PPaOGOE fuel blend, with a value of 60 %, relative to the smoke opacity for DF. The PPaOZnO fuel blend significantly increased the specific fuel consumption by 37.1 %, with an average increase of ∼24.21 %, compared with DF at an engine load of 40 %. Moreover, the use of PPaOZnO and PPaOGOE fuel blends improved spray penetration 2 times compared to PPaO, although the relative viscosity and spray angle were similar to those for PPaO. These findings suggest that zinc oxide and goethite have great potential as additives for PPaO fuel, thereby enhancing the efficiency and performance of diesel engines.

Fuel additives are recognized for their potential to make diesel engines cleaner and more efficient. However, the use of Pure Palm Oil (PPaO) as a fuel faces challenges due to its inherent combustion inefficiencies. This study explores how Acetylene Black (AB), as an additive, affects the combustion performance and spray characteristics of a diesel engine. Observations of spray phenomena were conducted using a High-Speed Camera Phantom C110. The addition of AB to PPaO resulted in an increase in engine power and torque by 11.43 % at a 60 % load, averaging a 2.97 % improvement over diesel fuel (DF). PPaO demonstrated the most significant improvement in Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) by 17.2 % at a 40 % load, averaging an 8.2 % increase. For PPaO with AB (PPaOAB), the greatest enhancement in SFC occurred at a 10 % load, showing a 9.2 % improvement over DF, with an average increase of 2.1 %. The study also found that thermal efficiency was optimally enhanced with PPaOAB at a 20 % load, achieving a remarkable 17.7 % improvement compared to DF. Notably, the inclusion of PPaOAB significantly reduced the thickness of carbon deposits on the pistons and cylinder head by 51.8 % and 3.9 %, respectively, and improved spray angle and penetration compared to PPaO. These findings suggest that AB could be a promising additive for PPaO, sparking further research interest in the application of AB in other fuels.

The increasing energy demand in Indonesia, driven by rapid technological advancements across various industries and a growing population, necessitates the exploration of alternative energy sources. The reliance on traditional Steam Power Plants has contributed to rising greenhouse gas emissions and increasing operational costs, prompting the need for cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. Solar energy emerges as a promising alternative to address these challenges. This study focuses on developing a solar power generation system capable of meeting the electrical energy needs in isolated areas. Using the PVsyst application, a new renewable energy system was designed to cater to the electricity requirements of residential homes. The study findings indicate that the system can generate 13,683 watts of electrical energy using eight solar panels, each with a capacity of 330 Wp. Additionally, the system includes 15 batteries with a capacity of 250 Ah to store energy. The designed system successfully meets the daily electricity demand of 8,210 watts for residential homes. To maximize solar energy absorption, the optimal tilt angle for the solar panels was determined to be 7 degrees. This study demonstrates that solar power generation systems are a viable and effective alternative for fulfilling electrical energy needs in isolated areas, offering a sustainable solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on conventional power sources.

Various Digital Agricultural Technologies (DAT) have been developed and implemented around the world. This study aims to estimate the overall adoption rate and identify the determinant factors for a better adoption perspective after decades of innovation and dissemination. A systematic review was conducted on published studies that reported adoption rates and determinant factors using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. We used meta-regression and the partial correlation coefficient to estimate the effect size and establish the correlation between socioeconomic characteristics and the adoption of various technologies reported. Fifty-two studies with 32400 participants met the selection criteria and were included in the study. The results revealed an overall pooled adoption rate of 39 %, with the highest adoption rates in developing countries in Africa and South America. Socioeconomic factors such as age, education, gender, and income were found to be the main determinants and should be considered when designing technology for sustainable adoption. The study also found that young farmers were more susceptible to adoption. Moreover, farmers with higher income levels and educational attainment are more likely to use technology linked to agricultural production, market access, and digital advising, implying that high-income farmers with more education are more tech-savvy. However, this does not exclude low-income and low-educated farmers from adopting the technologies, as many models and strategies with socioeconomic considerations were developed. It is one of the reasons behind the underlying enthusiasm for digital agricultural adoption in low and middle-income countries.

Current dynamics of world energy supply have driven various innovations by the industry as well as research communities. Fossil fuels, although experiencing a declining interest due to sustainability issues, remain undeniably crucial since they are nearly irreplaceable in some sectors including electricity generation, it is necessary to continuously establish efforts to improve efficiency of those kinds of fuel. In this work, the authors evaluate the potential of locally sourced essential oils, namely citronella, as a fuel additive in a vision of raising the fuel economy of gasoline RON 90. Citronella oil was selected based on a positive hypothesis deduced from its chemical properties, as mentioned in multiple published works. Tests were made on a generator-set powered by gasoline engine using the mixture of RON 90 and citronella oil of various concentrations as the fuels. In addition, a commercial synthetic additive was also tested alongside the essential oil to provide a comparative figure. Meanwhile other investigators suggest a favorable effect of essential oils, our results show that citronella oil additions lead to higher fuel consumption at the same power level. A similar negative effect was also demonstrated by the synthetic additive. The only sector showing positive results is in terms of exhaust temperature where experiments with citronella additives create lower exhaust temperature as compared to pure gasoline and synthetic additives. However, rooms for innovation remain open by exploring other variables such as higher additive concentrations or combining different kinds of essential oils.

Bukit Nobita adalah salah satu kawasan yang sedang dikembangkan sebagai objek wisata di Kota Padang. Diatas Bukit Nobita terlihat pemandangan indah dan bisa melihat view Kota Padang. Namun, topografi yang berbukit dengan kemiringan lereng yang cukup terjal, menyebabkan kawasan ini rawan bencana tanah longsor. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memetakan potensi longsor di Bukit Novita. Kegiatan dimulai dari persiapan, pelaksanaan dilapangan dan evaluasi. Kegiatan dilapangan dilakukan dua tahap. Tahap pertama yaitu eksperimen untuk memetakan potensi longsor. Tahap kedua adalah sosialisasi. Khalayak sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah Lurah Kampung Jua Nan XX dan perangkatnya, dan masyarakat di sekitar Bukit Nobita. Hasil kajian dan pemetaan disosialisasikan kepada pihak kelurahan dan tokoh masyarakat yang terlibat dalam pengembangan kawasan pariwisata Bukit Nobita yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 16 November 2022. Pengembangan objek wisata, sering kali merubah penggunaan dan tutupan lahan. Namun, mitigasi potensi bencana tanah longsor di kawasan ini belum pernah dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, tim jurusan Fisika Universitas Andalas melakukan pemetaan potensi longsor di Bukit Novita selama enam bulan, menggunakan metode mikroseismik dan geolistrik. Dari kegiatan ini diperoleh peta sebaran frekuensi dominan, peta sebaran amplifikasi, identifikasi bidang gelincir, dalam kaitannya dengan potensi longsor di Bukit Nobita. Selanjutnya hasil pemetaan dan upaya mitigasinya telah disosialisasikan kepada pihak kelurahan dan tokoh masyarakat yang terlibat dalam pengembangan kawasan pariwisata Bukit Nobita. Kegiatan ini terlaksana dengan baik. Peta sebaran potensi longsor yang didapatkan dari kegiatan ini menjadi masukan bagi masyarakat dan pemangku kepentingan dalam pengembangan objek wisata Buki Nobita yang aman terhadap bencana.

Killer of Gods, also known as KOG, has participated in events such as Rockin Solo and Jakarta. The performance style of KOG has successfully created an energetic atmosphere on stage, and captivated the audience with the use of dynamic lighting to enhance the musical experience. This research aimed to explore the performance format of the band Killer of Gods, serving as a reference for musicians and other researchers. The study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through triangulation. The data analysis process involved data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The performance format of Killer of Gods consists of two aspects, namely composition and presentation. The composition aspect includes rhythm, melody, harmony, instruments, lyrics, arrangement, formation, and performance elements. Meanwhile, the presentation aspect includes stage design, sound system, lighting, makeup, performance timing, and music presentation. In addition, Killer of Gods exclusively performs their own compositions during their music performances.

The research objective is to develop and produce electronic teaching material products using applications Flip PDF Corporate Edition in learning Theme 6(Heat and Its Transfer) Sub-theme 1(Temperature and Heat) in learning 3 class V (Five) SDN 12 Kampung Durian, Padang City. Research development also aims to see the validity and feasibility of the electronic teaching materials that have been developed. Development of electronic teaching materials using applications Flip PDF Corporate Editions tudied using the ADDIE model which consists of five stages namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. Research on the development of electronic teaching materials begins with analyzing class needs, designing or designing electronic teaching materials, then carrying out the development of electronic teaching materials, then conducting validation by experts, revising electronic teaching materials. After carrying out revisions from experts, implementation of electronic teaching materials with predetermined subjects was carried out. The average of the validation values by the material, language, and teaching material validators shows that electronic teaching materials can be used in the learning process with an overall score of 94.17% validation percentage with 95% material validation results, 90% language validation results and material validation results teaching 97.5%. In the implementation and practicality stages, the response from the teacher and students was very good for the electronic teaching materials that had been used. The result of the teacher's response is 97.14%. And students 96.4%. From the research results it can be concluded that electronic teaching materials use applications Flip PDF Corporate Edition has been valid, very interesting, and appropriate for students to use in the learning process

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global problem with increasing prevalence. The current treatments have made an immense progress with some side effects, such as drug resistance, acute kidney toxicity, and increased risk of heart attack. Banana (Musa spp.) peel comprises 40% of banana fruit contains high phenolic compounds whilst some studies have suggested a correlation between phenolic compounds and antidiabetic activity. One of the novel protein targets that has been identified as a potential anti-diabetic treatment is PTP1B (PDB ID:2NT7). Therefore, this study aimed to screen the potential PTP1B inhibitor for antidiabetic treatment from phenolic compounds in banana peel. QSAR, molecular docking, ADME-Tox, and molecular dynamics analysis were deployed to examine forty-three phenolic compounds in banana peel. Eighteen ligands were screened by QSAR analysis and eight of them had a lower binding energy than the standard (ertiprotafib) in molecular docking, with urolithin A and chrysin were the lowest. Both passed Lipinski’s rule of five, had a good intestinal absorption, and no blood-brain barrier penetration, however, their mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, and irritation to the skin and eyes were still in questions. Molecular dynamics analysis found both of them were in a stable conformation with PTP1B. This study suggested a potential of urolithin A and chrysin as PTP1B inhibitor for antidiabetic treatment. Additionally, further experimentation is required to validate this finding.

Sterculia foetida derived biodiesel is a potential fuel for a diesel engine. The Sterculia foetida biodiesel required a pre-refining process called degumming and an acid pretreatment process before converting them to methyl ester using the transesterification process. This study blended fuel from Sterculia foetida biodiesel and diesel with different volume ratios (5% to 30% of biodiesel blend with 95% to 70% diesel fuel). Sterculia foetida biodiesel and blended fuels met the ASTM D6751 and EN 14214 standards. The blended fuel is examined to obtain its influences on the performance and emission when operating at a diesel engine (1300 rpm to 2400 rpm). From the outcome, the engine performance of the SFB5 blend shows better performance than diesel fuel in terms of BTE (28.84%) and BSFC (5.86%). Artificial neural networks and extreme learning machines were employed to predict engine performance and exhaust emissions. The developed models gave excellent results, where the coefficient of determination is more than 99% and 98% for BSFC and BTE, respectively. When the engine is operated with SFB5, there is a significant reduction in CO, HC, and smoke opacity emissions by 8.26%, 2.08%, and 3.08%, respectively, and at the same time, an increase in CO2 by 3.53% and NOXby 22.39%. The comparison is made with diesel fuel. The extreme learning machine modelling is powerful for predicting engine performance and exhaust emission compared to artificial neural networks in terms of prediction accuracy. Sterculia foetida biodiesel–diesel blends of 5% show its capability to replace diesel fuel by providing engine peak performance than diesel fuel.

The Wan Abdul Rachman (WAR) Forest Park (TAHURA) Utilization Block is a location that can be utilized by the community, especially its non-timber forest products. Utilization of non-timber forest products is the type of Multi-Purpose Trees Species (MPTS). On the other hand, many trees were damaged due to this utilization. This study aimed to obtain the damage index (IK) of MPTS types in the TAHURA WAR utilization block. Data was collected by assessing the IK of trees based on the Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) method on five cluster plots of FHM. Data analysis was carried out using the IK value formula. The results showed that there were 13 types of MPTS found in the TAHURA WAR utilization block; with the range of IK values for each kind of MPTS as follows: Durio zibenthinus (0.0-6.1), Persea americana (1.4-6.5), Parkia speciosa (0.0-5.8), Archidendron pauciflorum (1.5-6.1), Gnetum gnemon (0.0-6.1), Hevea brasiliensis (1.4-6.1), Theobroma cacao (1.4-5.0), Mangifera indica (1.6-4.3), Sygyzium malaccensis (1.6-4.6), Arthocarpus heterophyllus (1.6-5.8), Sygyzium aqueum (1.4-4.3), Sygyzium aromaticum (1.5-3.8) and Tectona grandis (1.6-4.9). The location influences the size of the IK value, type and severity of tree damage found. Thus, the average IK values for each kind of MPTS in the TAHURA WAR utilization block were Hevea brasiliensis (4.3), Artocarpus heterophyllus (4.2), Archidendron pauciflorum (4.1), Theobroma cacao (4.0), Tectona grandis (3.8), Persea americana (3.5), Parkia speciosa (3.5), Durio zibenthinus (3.4), Sygyzium malaccensis (3.4), Gnetum gnemon (3.2), Sygyzium aqueum (2.9), Mangifera indica (2.7) dan Sygyzium aromaticum (2.4).

A substantial amount of rice grains is lost along the value chain, contributing to food insecurity among farming households in Benin. While food losses are inevitable along the value chain, it is imperative to determine the minimum acceptable loss for rice. This study aims to quantify the food losses of rice and determine its effect on food security using the Food Consumption Score (FCS) and Linear model. The results show a positive effect of a low loss rate on the FCS. In addition, a low loss rate increases the probability of FCS by 82.4 for the overall rice farmers and 83.7 for the efficient rice producers. Thus, reducing the loss rate throughout the food chain to a maximum of 10% would increase the amount of local rice on the market and allow producers to achieve food security. The study recommends sensitizing stakeholders along the rice value chain on strategies or technologies to reduce losses.

The implementation of educating "Basic Life Support (BLS) competences" in German schools is particularly affected by the often reported "implementational gap" --limited transfer of empirical findings into practice. This Design-Based Research (DBR) study evaluates two different methodologies for BLS teaching, generating implications for transfer. Students (N = 136) of a secondary school (11-13 years) were assigned to different methodological approaches. A test group (TG) received intervention implemented into regular biology lessons (10 units; n = 48); the control group (CG) participated in a basic instruction (2 units; n = 68). Both large-scale methods -- subject-matter teaching (TG) and project activity (CG) -- were compared regarding current motivation, self-efficacy, constructivist instruction, cognitive load, and practical skills. Data from n = 125 students (TG=48; TG=68) could be included into analysis (Mage=11,16; SD=.45; 55.2% female). Probability of success and interest increased, anxiety perception decreased (no group-interaction effect), whereas challenge perception remained constantly. Self-efficacy overall improved from before to after intervention, with TG reporting higher social self-efficacy and less negative outcome expectancies. No differences were found for practical BLS performance. MANOVA (after intervention) showed higher values for anxiety in TG, and for self-efficacy, CG has higher values for negative outcome expectancies (post hoc analysis). For cognitive load and constructivist instruction, no differences between groups were found. In conclusion, both methodological approaches seem to have their own pedagogical justification. Schools' implementation processes may benefit from combining (subject-matter) curriculum content with BLS information or content to facilitate time and resource-saving realization.

This study uses self-determination theory to examine the effect of gamification on the students' behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement in online discussion forums by providing more instructor badges than automatic badges and using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. Behavioral engagement was measured using the number of posts and replies; emotional engagement was measured using perceived relatedness; and cogitative engagement was measured by the quality of the post/reply's content. Sixty participants used the developed online discussion website and held two 3-day discussion sessions (non-gamified and gamified) with different topics. The data were collected using user logs (number of posts and replies), questionnaire responses (perceived relatedness), and assessment rubrics (scores on the post/reply content), analyzed using the one-way repeated measures analysis of variance. The results revealed that gamification affected emotional engagement, which was influenced by the "like" feature, which made it easier for participants to appreciate others' activities. However, this feature also decreased the number of replies (behavioral engagement) because the students perceived "liking" as an easier way to appreciate other posts/replies instead of writing a reply. The number of posts also decreased since participants' motivation in the second session tended to focus on the quality of the content caused by the badge list page, which guides the expected best content from the participant. This study can provide guidance to universities in implementing gamification in LMS.

The main objective of this article is to highlight the importance of training in digital tools at the university level to foster the development of innovative and efficient data analysis from a scientific perspective. In an increasingly digitised world, the acquisition of digital skills has become a fundamental requirement for success in various disciplines, especially in conducting academic studies and research. The implementation of Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDAS) software, such as the ATLAS.ti platform, for text analysis not only enriches the educational experience but also prepares students to excel in an ever-evolving digital environment and raise the quality of their research. We present here a practical example of textual analysis in ATLAS.ti that can serve as a reference guide for similar studies based on content analysis of interviews. Various qualitative and quantitative data analysis options and techniques are explored that allow researchers to identify patterns, trends and relationships in the texts analysed, which contributes to a deeper understanding of the topics under study by transcending traditional methods of text analysis.

Learning media is an essential aspect in explaining or visualizing fundamentals of physics that are difficult to understand. Learning media with simulations is increasingly beneficial when Indonesia is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which requires distance learning or online education to be implemented. The community service of the Physics Department of Andalas University aimed to introduce PhET simulations as a virtual laboratory to improve understanding of Physics fundamentals for students at SMAN 3 Painan, Kab. Pesisir Selatan, West Sumatra in 2021. Preparation of community service begins with preparing a practicum module from a simulation of the topic of Physics. The assessment of increasing students' understanding of simulation is carried out in Hooke's law module. The number of participating students was grouped into control students (10 people) and students with Hooke's law PhET simulation training (10 people) by giving pre-test and post-test treatments. The t-test analysis shows that the control group and the PhET simulation produced the same output (p = 0.05) at pre-test. It means that the abilities of both groups were the same during the pre-test. In contrast to the post-test case, the PhET simulation group produced higher output than the control group. It means that students' ability in Hooke's law simulation PhET training experienced a significant increase in understanding (p < 0.05). This community service activity can help improve students' understanding to learn the physics fundamentals in SMAN 3 Painan.

The purpose of this paper is to determine and investigate the online purchase intention among Filipino non-Muslim consumers towards Halal food. The fact could be explained by the increased number of consumers who were ready to purchase Halal products. Aside from Muslims, who expends Halal products due to devout obligations, it is understood that non-Muslims have also started eating halal food. Utilizing multiple regression analysis, four models were tested and perceived risk, trust and confidence, website design quality, and online shopping enjoyment have been explored in this study to investigate the influence of Halal food towards online purchase intention among non-Muslim consumers using quantitative research method. Perceived Risk has been identified to be the most significant in predicting factors in an online purchase intention of Halal food. Furthermore, future studies are suggested to include additional variables such as consumers’ habits and knowledge of halal food

The mangroves in Santo Angel in the municipality of Calauag, Quezon Province in the Philippines, provide a wide array of ecological services that range from provisioning of resources and habitat to various floral and faunal species to regulating services including coastal protection. Coastal protection from mangroves is needed by the local community as Santo Angel is susceptible to typhoons and storm surges. However, the mangrove’s ability to provide coastal defense has considerably declined in the past decades due to overexploitation. Using the double-bounded dichotomous choice contingent valuation method, the willingness to pay (WTP) of the local community for a hypothetical mangrove rehabilitation project aligned towards coastal protection was determined. A total of 210 households were involved in the survey. The results show that 79% of the 210 households expressed WTP for the mangrove rehabilitation project. Furthermore, the mean willingness to pay (MWTP) for the mangrove rehabilitation project was computed at Php 15.44 (USD 0.29) per household per month or equivalent to Php 86, 525.76 (USD 1,659.41) per year for the total number of households in Santo Angel. Findings of the logistic regression analysis revealed that sex, age, membership in environmental organizations, and awareness on both the economic importance and the ecological services provided by mangroves positively affect the WTP of the respondents. In contrast, the bid amount and the respondent’s income negatively influence the WTP of the respondents for the mangrove rehabilitation project.

This study was conducted in April to August 2019 to determine the relation between broilers’ production management with its business analysis in Kediri district, East Java. The research using survey methods. The questionnaire was used as a data collection tool, which was carried out by interviews and field observations. Determination of location and respondent uses purposive sampling method and selects 25 farmers. Production management indicators consist of five categories; breed, feeding, housing system, maintenance, and health. Business analysis indicators consist of R/C ratio, Break Event Point (BEP), and Payback Period (PP. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis and statistical analysis of the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method using the Partial Least Square (PLS) program. The results showed that farmers had implemented production management well. Broiler partnership farm is a profitable business. The value of Revenue Cost ratio was 1.45 and with the Payback Period for 2.97 years. Production management of broiler farms has a positive and significant effect on its business analysis.

Online motorcycle taxi service providers become business opportunities that grow and develop. The development of digital business opportunities is also supported by the increasingly widespread service users. This research aims to determine the characteristics of online motorcycle taxi service users and the attributes that are priority for users. In this study, several methods are used and integrated include: e-ServQual, IPA (importance-performance analysis), Kano Model, and House of Quality. The measurement result of the consumer satisfaction index is 55.58%, meaning that the consumers are quite satisfied with the online service. Based on the findings of this study, the attributes prioritized by consumers are the punctuality of the driver's arrival as stated in the application (attribute 14), the driver confirms the customer's order quickly (attribute 15), and the driver is easy to obtain (attribute 17). Finally, this study also recommends corrective actions to these service providers, among others: maintaining server reliability with a relative importance of 21.4%, regularly conducting driver training with a relative importance of 15.2%, and increasing the number of drivers with a relative importance 4.3%.

The use of online mass spectrometry for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) has proven to be a powerful technique, allowing for real-time analysis of many chemical and biochemical processes. Unfortunately, online mass spectrometry has had limited application due to high instrument costs and limited availability. Here, we detail the design, construction, and performance characteristics of a custom ion-molecule reactor retrofitted to a commonly used single quadrupole mass spectrometer to operate as an online chemical ionization mass spectrometer (CIMS). This low-cost modified CIMS is capable of limits of detection below 10 parts per trillion for select VOCs including dimethyl sulfide, dimethylamine, and trimethylamine.

The change in the concept of an automation pyramid into an automation cloud in a cyber-physical production system makes data communication no longer stratified but can be done directly between devices. Based on IEC 61499, which defines the function blocks for building such communications, communication protocols can be run on various devices. Several communication protocols that can fulfill these requirements are OPC-UA, FBDK / IP, and MQTT. The research was conducted by comparing the three communication protocols for latency parameters and their jitters. The test method used to compare latency parameters is the variance analysis test and the Tukey test. The jitter value of the protocols are compared to the standard deviation parameter. The test results showed that the MQTT communication protocol had a faster latency value, with a 95% confidence level. The standard deviation of the variation value for OPC-UA, FBDK / IP, and MQTT showed the jitter value of 0.72 seconds, 0.35 seconds, and 0.64 seconds. Comparing the three communication protocols' standard deviation values showed that the FBDK / IP communication protocol has significantly less jitter than the OPC-UA and MQTT communication protocols.

Supporting student interest in science is critical for broadening participation in the field because interest, even more than achievement, is associated with pursuing future science education and careers. In this study, we explore the conjecture that equitable classroom cultures can support interest in science. Specifically, we examine the idea that science classroom cultures that equitably reflect collective enterprise (where students engage collaboratively in scientific sensemaking) and care (where students believe that they are valued and respected members of the classroom community) support students, particularly those from historically marginalized populations, to develop interest in science. The study is part of a field test of a new middle school science curriculum called OpenSciEd. Data consist of survey responses from 847 students across 34 teachers located in nine states. Our analysis employed mixed-effects models to accommodate the nested structure of the data. We found that classrooms vary substantially in the degree to which they reflect collective enterprise and care, indicating that classroom culture is a perceptible and consequential feature of the shared classroom environment. Student background did not predict reports of collective enterprise or care, providing evidence that classrooms in our sample were equitable along these dimensions. Critically, collective enterprise and care are both strongly associated with student-reported interest in science. These findings underscore the importance of attending to classroom culture and the relational aspects of science learning as we seek to expand interest in science, particularly for students from historically marginalized populations.

The past two decades have seen an accumulation of theoretical and empirical evidence for the interlinkages between human health and well-being, biodiversity and ecosystem services, and agriculture. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the devastating impacts that an emerging pathogen, of animal origin, can have on human societies and economies. A number of scholars have called for the wider adoption of “One Health integrated approaches” to better prevent, and respond to, the threats of emerging zoonotic diseases. However, there are theoretical and practical challenges that have precluded the full development and practical implementation of this approach. Whilst integrated approaches to health are increasingly adopting a social-ecological system framework (SES), the lack of clarity in framing the key concept of resilience in health contexts remains a major barrier to its implementation by scientists and practitioners. We propose an operational framework, based on a transdisciplinary definition of Socio-Ecological System Health (SESH) that explicitly links health and ecosystem management with the resilience of SES, and the adaptive capacity of the actors and agents within SES, to prevent and cope with emerging health and environmental risks. We focus on agricultural transitions that play a critical role in disease emergence and biodiversity conservation, to illustrate the proposed participatory framework to frame and co-design SESH interventions. Finally, we highlight critical changes that are needed from researchers, policy makers and donors, in order to engage communities and other stakeholders involved in the management of their own health and that of the underpinning ecosystems.

Pearl culture in Fiji relies on a supply of pearl oysters obtained through the strategic deployment of spat collectors. Although the design and deployment of spat collectors aim to maximize the recruitment of pearl oysters (Pinctada and Pterin spp.), this activity incidentally captures many other bivalves as bycatch. This study explored whether tropical rock oysters (specifically Magallana bilineata and Saecostrea spp.) were present and sufficiently abundant as bycatch from pearl oyster spat collectors, to support additional commercial opportunities. The results showed that the absolute (0.7 [+ or -] 2.1 spat collector-1) and proportional (2.9% of all bivalves) abundance of these taxa was very low, which would limit oyster harvest in meaningful quantities. Although the prospect of creating additional revenue streams from bycatch could be seen as an incentive to on-grow and sell tropical rock oysters despite their low abundance, it is argued that greater benefit would come from prioritizing activities related to pearl oysters and associated downstream products such as mabe pearl, shellcraft, and pearl-meat production. Ultimately, existing spat collection activities within the cultured pearl sector did not have the anticipated potential to support supplemental aquaculture of tropical rock oysters. Abstract: This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of communication and collaboration skills on vocational students' work readiness. The number of research respondents was 114 students. Research Instrumens using Instrumens that have been used, namely Self-Perceived Communication Competence Scale, Teamwork Scale for Youth, Work Readiness Scale. The results found that communication and collaborative skills have an influence on student work readiness simultaneously and partially. Increasing these skills will increase the vocational students' work readiness. In schools that play a role in improving communication and collaboration skills is the teacher, if outside the school the role is parents with regular supervision processes. Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh keterampilan berkomunikasi dan berkolaborasi terhadap kesiapan kerja siswa SMK. Responden penelitian berjumlah 114 siswa. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan instrumen yang sudah pernah digunakan yaitu Self-Perceived Communication Competence Scale, Teamwork Scale for Youth, Work Readiness Scale. The case study was taken from one of trading companies in Lampung. The company sells Muslim fashion products from a large number of suppliers. Suppliers data is recorded in detail manually, as well as products recorded. Manual data collection can result in recording errors, data easily tucked, or not recorded. This research develops an information system to help the company in data collection of suppliers and products automatically based on web using Laravel as a framework. This system is built using extreme programming methods and has features that focus on collecting suppliers, products, and product shipments. The results of system testing using the black box testing method shows that the system has fulfilled functional requirements and user needs. Keywords— Management Information System; Product; Supplier.
