Finding low-energy structures of ligand-protected clusters is challenging due to the enormous conformational space and the high computational cost of accurate quantum chemical methods for determining the structures and energies of conformers. Here, we adopted and utilized a kernel rigid regression based machine learning method to accelerate the search for low-energy structures of ligand-protected clusters. We chose the Au25(Cys)18 (Cys: cysteine) cluster as a model system to test and demonstrate our method. We found that the low-energy structures of the cluster are characterized by a specific hydrogen bond type in the cysteine. A new approach for the calculation of eigenstates with the state-averaged (multi-layer) multi-configurational time-dependent Hartree (MCTDH) approach is presented. The approach is inspired by the recent work of Larsson [J. Chem. Phys. 151, 204102 (2019)]. It employs local optimization of the basis sets at each node of the multi-layer MCTDH tree and successive downward and upward sweeps to obtain a globally converged result. At the top node, the Hamiltonian represented in the basis of the single-particle functions (SPFs) of the first layer is diagonalized. Here p wavefunctions corresponding to the p lowest eigenvalues are computed by a block Lanczos approach. At all other nodes, a non-linear operator consisting of the respective mean-field Hamiltonian matrix and a projector onto the space spanned by the respective SPFs is considered. Here, the eigenstate corresponding to the lowest eigenvalue is computed using a short iterative Lanczos scheme. Two different examples are studied to illustrate the new approach: the calculation of the vibrational states of methyl and acetonitrile. The calculations for methyl employ the single-layer MCTDH approach, a general potential energy surface, and the correlation discrete variable representation. A five-layer MCTDH representation and a sum of product-type Hamiltonian are used in the acetonitrile calculations. Very fast convergence and order of magnitude reductions in the numerical effort compared to the previously used block relaxation scheme are found. Furthermore, a detailed comparison with the results of Avila and Carrington [J. Chem. Phys. 134, 054126 (2011)] for acetonitrile highlights the potential problems of convergence tests for high-dimensional systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We have designed a [Fe(SH)4H]− model with the fifth proton binding either to Fe or S. We show that the energy difference between these two isomers (∆E) is hard to estimate with quantum-mechanical (QM) methods. For example, different density functional theory (DFT) methods give ∆E estimates that vary by almost 140 kJ/mol, mainly depending on the amount of exact Hartree–Fock included (0%–54%). The model is so small that it can be treated by many high-level QM methods, including coupled-cluster (CC) and multiconfigurational perturbation theory approaches. With extrapolated CC series (up to fully connected coupled-cluster calculations with singles, doubles, and triples) and semistochastic heat-bath configuration interaction methods, we obtain results that seem to be converged to full configuration interaction results within 5 kJ/mol. Our best result for ∆E is 101 kJ/mol. With this reference, we show that M06 and B3LYP-D3 give the best results among 35 DFT methods tested for this system. Brueckner doubles coupled cluster with perturbaitve triples seems to be the most accurate coupled-cluster approach with approximate triples. CCSD(T) with Kohn–Sham orbitals gives results within 4–11 kJ/mol of the extrapolated CC results, depending on the DFT method. Single-reference CC calculations seem to be reasonably accurate (giving an error of ∼5 kJ/mol compared to multireference methods), even if the D1 diagnostic is quite high (0.25) for one of the two isomers. Clustering has become an indispensable tool in the presence of increasingly large and complex datasets. Most clustering algorithms depend, either explicitly or implicitly, on the sampled density. However, estimated densities are fragile due to the curse of dimensionality and finite sampling effects, for instance, in molecular dynamics simulations. To avoid the dependence on estimated densities, an energy-based clustering (EBC) algorithm based on the Metropolis acceptance criterion is developed in this work. In the proposed formulation, EBC can be considered a generalization of spectral clustering in the limit of large temperatures. Taking the potential energy of a sample explicitly into account alleviates requirements regarding the distribution of the data. In addition, it permits the subsampling of densely sampled regions, which can result in significant speed-ups and sublinear scaling. The algorithm is validated on a range of test systems including molecular dynamics trajectories of alanine dipeptide and the Trp-cage miniprotein. We introduce a Monte-Carlo method that allows for the simulation of a polymeric phase containing a weak polyelectrolyte, which is coupled to a reservoir at a fixed pH, salt concentration, and total concentration of a weak polyprotic acid. The method generalizes the established grand-reaction method by Landsgesell et al. [Macromolecules 53, 3007–3020 (2020)] and, thus, allows for the simulation of polyelectrolyte systems coupled to reservoirs with a more complex chemical composition. In order to set the required input parameters that correspond to a desired reservoir composition, we propose a generalization of the recently published chemical potential tuning algorithm of Miles et al. [Phys. Rev. E 105, 045311 (2022)]. To test the proposed tuning procedure, we perform extensive numerical tests for both ideal and interacting systems. Finally, as a showcase, we apply the method to a simple test system that consists of a weak polybase solution that is coupled to a reservoir containing a small diprotic acid. The complex interplay of the ionization of various species, the electrostatic interactions, and the partitioning of small ions leads to a non-monotonous, stepwise swelling behavior of the weak polybase chains. The efficient coordination of the distance and directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) is jeopardized by the massive deployment of renewable distributed generation (DG) into electrical power networks. The two key aspects influencing the relay coordination are the bidirectional flow of current and increased short-circuit currents due to DG integration. This study investigates the consequences of variable DG penetration on the distance and dual-setting DOCRs (DS-DOCRs) coordination. As a result, common optimal relay settings have been obtained that can be utilized for variable DG penetration levels in modified IEEE-14 bus test system. For the distance relays (DRs), a fixed zone 1 and variable zone 2 operation have been considered. The proposed combined protection scheme is tested on a modified IEEE-14 bus test system using DS-DOCRs and DRs. The relay coordination problem is formulated as a constrained non-linear optimization problem and solved by genetic algorithm (GA) and gray wolf optimization (GWO). In this paper, DS-DOCRs with user-defined relay characteristics have demonstrated superior performance in line protection compared to conventional DOCRs with normal inverse (NI) characteristics. The evaluation of various urban planning scenarios using metrics has enhanced consensus-building in participatory planning. Nevertheless, the integration of scenario planning pedagogy remains limited in Latin American nations. To bridge this disparity, scenario planning was integrated into a graduate planning studio in Bogotá over a two-year period. Our investigation focused on enhancements in students’ comprehension of uncertainty, urban metrics, and negotiation. Findings indicate that students successfully generated multiple scenarios rapidly. However, challenges emerged concerning the interpretation of communicative concepts in planning, data accessibility and constraints, as well as issues related to the user-friendliness and interoperability of available software tools. This article conducts experimental research on the influencing factors of the anti-skid performance testing system SCRIM for asphalt pavement. Studied the distribution pattern of anti-skid performance test results of the testing system under different testing speeds, test tires, temperature, water film thickness, test wheel position, tire wear degree, and other factors. Revealed the influence law of various influencing factors on the anti-skid performance of asphalt pavement. The test results indicate that the SFC test value decreases with the increase of vehicle speed. The test results of tires made of different materials vary greatly, and tires with wear exceeding 3 mm cannot be used for testing. The influence of water film thickness on the measured values varies depending on the SFC level. The SFC measurement value of the normal trajectory of the vehicle's driving wheel track is the smallest, and the measurement value of the left trajectory is greater than that of the right trajectory. Bifurcation analysis is an essential tool in nonlinear dynamics. Bifurcation diagrams help to discover subtle features of investigated dynamics such as chaotic and periodic regimes, hidden attractors and fixed points. However, plotting high-resolution bifurcation diagrams can be a computationally challenging task, especially in multiparametric evaluation. It should be noted that the bifurcation analysis is a task with natural parallelism and thus can be efficiently solved using hybrid central-graphics processing architectures. In this paper, we propose an advanced algorithm and special software for plotting bifurcation diagrams using calculations accelerated by graphics processing unit in combination with a highly efficient semi-implicit ordinary differential equation solver. Time series processing is based on the extraction of amplitude and phase features for the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise to determine oscillation periodicity. We showcase the features of the application of proposed solutions on a set of test chaotic systems. The performance of the analysis algorithms is investigated in comparison with conventional solutions based on central processing unit and several approaches known from the literature. Omni-dimensional dynamic convolution can adjust spatial sizes, the amount of input/output channels, and kernel size based on the characteristics of the input, thus improving the capacity to extract characteristics through convolution, resulting in increased computation and model complexity. As a result, it is challenging to deploy these models on resource-limited airborne high-spectral testing systems. This paper proposes a lightweight omni-dimensional dynamic convolution network as a possible solution to this issue. In this network, the LS2CM module is used for spatial-spectral information extraction, and the pyramidal residual network is the basic architecture for extracting features from shallow to deep layers, and lightweight omni-dimensional dynamic convolution is adopted in the convolution module. Overcoming the pyramidal structure can only extract local information, we proposed a new simple spatial-spectral self-attention mechanism to extract global information from hyperspectral. Besides, the Huber function as an activation function. The IP, WHU-Hi-LongKou, SA, and PU datasets were used to verify the accuracy of the suggested network model. AbstractObjectiveDesignStudy SampleResultsConclusionThe primary objective of this study was to explore the feasibility of remotely assessing music perception in paediatric cochlear implant (CI) recipients. Pitch direction discrimination (PDD) and timbre recognition (TR) tests were administered remotely. We aimed to provide insights into the potential benefits and challenges of remote assessments.The study was exploratory in nature. All participants underwent remote assessments for the PDD and TR tests. Eight participants completed both online and face-to-face tests. Supervising parents in remote tests completed the System Usability Scale (SUS).A cohort of 27 children with CI, averaging 11.19 years of age, participated in this study.In the online condition, the average PDD score was 3.29 semitones (st), the TR score was 37.86%, and the average duration for PDD and TR testing was 9.98 and 6.18 minutes, respectively. Face-to-face sessions had an average PDD score of 3.00 st, a TR score of 32.81% and durations of 10.20 and 5.42 minutes for PDD and TR tests, respectively. Crystalline materials have atomic-scale fluctuations in their chemical composition that modulate various mesoscale properties. Establishing chemistry–microstructure relationships in such materials requires proper characterization of these chemical fluctuations. Yet, current characterization approaches (e.g., Warren–Cowley parameters) make only partial use of the complete chemical and structural information contained in local chemical motifs. Here we introduce a framework based on E(3)-equivariant graph neural networks that is capable of completely identifying chemical motifs in arbitrary crystalline structures with any number of chemical elements. This approach naturally leads to a proper information-theoretic measure for quantifying chemical short-range order (SRO) in chemically complex materials and a reduced representation of the chemical motif space. Our framework enables the correlation of any per-atom property with their corresponding local chemical motif, thereby enabling the exploration of structure–property relationships in chemically complex materials. Using the MoTaNbTi high-entropy alloy as a test system, we demonstrate the versatility of this approach by evaluating the lattice strain associated with each chemical motif, and computing the temperature dependence of chemical-fluctuations length scale. Introduction: In response to the issues of complexity and low efficiency in line loss calculations for actual distribution networks, this paper proposes a fast power flow calculation method for distribution networks based on Neo4j graph models and a hierarchical forward-backward sweep parallel algorithm. Methods: Firstly, Neo4j is used to describe the distribution network structure as a simple graph model composed of nodes and edges. Secondly, a hierarchical forward-backward sweep method is adopted to perform power flow calculations on the graph model network. Finally, during the computation of distribution network subgraphs, the method is combined with the Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) computing model to quickly complete the line loss analysis. Results and Discussion: Results from the IEEE 33-node test system demonstrate that the proposed method can calculate network losses quickly and accurately, with a computation time of only 0.175s, which is lower than the MySQL and Neo4j graph methods that do not consider hierarchical parallel computing. Global urbanization requires more stable and sustainable wastewater treatment to reduce the burden on the water environment. To address the problem of substrate inhibition of microorganisms during wastewater treatment, which leads to unstable wastewater discharge, this study proposes an approach to enhance the tolerance of bacterial community by artificially setting up a non-lethal high substrate environment. And the feasibility of this approach was explored by taking the inhibition of anammox process by nitrite as an example. It was shown that the non-lethal high substrate environment could enhance the nitrite tolerance of anammox bacterial community, as the specific anammox activity increasing up to 24.71 times at high nitrite concentrations. Moreover, the system composed of anammox bacterial community with high nitrite tolerance also showed greater resistance (two-fold) in response to nitrite shock. The antifragility of the system was enhanced without affecting the operation of the main reactor, and the non-lethal high nitrite environment changed the dominant anammox genera to Candidatus Jettenia. This approach to enhance tolerance of bacterial community in a non-lethal high substrate environment not only allows the anammox system to operate stably, but also promises to be a potential strategy for achieving stable biological wastewater treatment processes to comply with standards. To address substrate inhibition in wastewater treatment, the authors propose a non-lethal high substrate environment to enhance microbial community resistance. The power factor correction converter is the function of the front-end converter, followed by the DC–DC converter of the electric vehicle charger. It improves the power factor and regulates the output voltage and current. This research article proposes the Golden Eagle optimization for fractional order PI (FOPI) controller for Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC) power factor correction. The Golden eagle optimization is based on its knowledge of hunting tactics at various degrees of spiral trajectories to catch the prey. The FOPI controller has a broad range of controller parameters that provide better control and performance of the converter. The tuning of the parameters of the FOPI controller is optimized in Golden Eagle Optimization, and the Integral Absolute error with Integral Square error is used for the objective function. The optimized parameters of FOPI compare with the conventional PI controller performance. The SEPIC converter is designed and derived from the state space model by state space averaging, and the reduced model is obtained through the moment matching method. This system is tested under MATLAB/SIMULINK, and simulation results show improved settling time, fast dynamic response, reduction of inrush current, less harmonic distortion, and stability. Diversity plays a major role when a student is looking for a tutor to better understand some concepts or an entire course. In fact, algorithms for recommending potential tutors have to take into account several aspects of diversity that may be critical to successful tutoring. The tutor must have the appropriate competencies in the subject matter. In addition, he/she must be able to convey the knowledge and skills associated with the tutoring topic. Moreover, the personality traits of the tutee and the tutor can facilitate or hinder the learning process during tutoring. This study presents the experience of ‘SOS TUTORÍA UC’, a responsive web application aimed at facilitating academic assistance among students. Special emphasis is placed on the importance of incorporating dimensions of diversity that can inform the artificial intelligence algorithms of the potential tutor recommendation system. Indeed, competence in the topic tutored is the first diversity criterion for recommending more knowledgeable potential tutors. In addition, the tutee has to choose whether to look for tutors with personalities that are “different”, “similar” or “indifferent” to his or her own preferences for academic assistance on the specific topic. To achieve this, ‘SOS TUTORÍA UC’ is integrated with the WeNet platform, which provides user management services and user recommendation algorithms. The results of the testing of the recommendation system were positive with regard to the criterion of competence, while the criterion of personality should be addressed for improvement. In order to improve the tutor-tutee matching process, participants emphasized the importance of considering the criterion of personality traits in addition to competence. In this paper, an inertial amplifier and a quasi-zero stiffness system are combined to propose an energy harvesting system that can change the dynamic mass of the system. By adjusting the inertial amplifier, it is possible to change the distribution of its chaotic region and the effective range of energy collection. The kinetic equations of the system with an inertial amplifier under a combination of multiple harmonic excitations are developed. Based on this, the system was simulated and tested and the Lyapunov exponent, the RMS value of the induced voltage and the coexisting basins of attraction were plotted. Subsequently, the best optimization solution to improve the energy harvesting efficiency of the system was identified. In addition, the system was tested for impulse excitation based on the given coexisting basins of attraction. The simulation results show that the inertial amplifier can effectively improve the range of the energy harvesting region and the distribution of the chaotic region in the system ground under ultra-low-frequency vibration. Fault fracture zones are rock formations commonly encountered in submarine tunnels, and the diffusion mechanism of slurry in fault fracture zones has a crucial impact on submarine tunnel reinforcement. Based on the seepage equation of Bingham fluid, the tortuosity parameter, fractal theory, and variable viscosity equation are introduced to establish a spherical permeation grouting model of Bingham fluid considering the slurry diffusion path and viscosity time variability. The viscosity variation law with time of sulfur aluminate cement slurry under different seawater admixture conditions was tested, and the time-varying equation of viscosity of sulfur aluminate cement slurry was obtained by fitting. A set of fault fracture zone permeation grouting test system was developed, and a fault fracture zone grouting simulation test was carried out. The study shows that the diffusion distance calculated without considering the influence of slurry diffusion path and seawater is 1.63–1.91 times of the test value, which obviously overestimates the diffusion distance; the diffusion distance calculated with considering the influence of diffusion path and seawater is 1.06–1.35 times of the test value, which is in good agreement with the test value. Background Methods Results Conclusion To accommodate a wider range of medical device sizes, a larger in vitro flow loop thrombogenicity test system using 9.5 ‐mm inner diameter (ID) tubing was developed and evaluated based on our previously established 6.4 ‐mm ID tubing system.Four cardiopulmonary bypass roller pumps were used concurrently to drive four flow loops during testing. To ensure that each pump produced a consistent thrombogenic response for the same material under the same test conditions, a novel dynamic roller occlusion setting method was applied. Five materials with varying thrombogenic potentials were tested: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), silicone, 3D‐printed nylon, latex, and nitrile rubber (BUNA). Day‐old bovine blood was heparinized to a donor‐specific concentration and recirculated through the flow loops containing test materials at 20 rpm for 1 h at room temperature. Material thrombogenicity was characterized by measuring the thrombus surface coverage, thrombus weight, and platelet (PLT) count reduction.The larger tubing system can differentiate thrombogenic materials (latex, BUNA) from the thromboresistant PTFE material. Additionally, silicone and the 3D‐printed nylon exhibited an intermediate thrombogenic response with significantly less thrombus surface coverage and PLT count reduction than latex and BUNA but more thrombus surface coverage than PTFE (p < 0.05).The 9.5 ‐mm ID test system can effectively differentiate materials of varying thrombogenic potentials when appropriate pump occlusion settings and donor‐specific anticoagulation are used. This system is being assessed in an interlaboratory study to develop standardized best practices for performing in vitro dynamic thrombogenicity testing of medical devices and materials. In order to solve the problems in predicting the asphalt aging behavior, such as the large performance deviation between simulated aging asphalt and actual aging asphalt, the lack of scientific evaluation index easy to promote in the practical engineering, properties of natural aging SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene Triblock Copolymer) modified asphalt from an in-service expressway were tested by Asphalt Binder Quality Test System (ABQT) . Then, some indexes, including maximum creep deformation, elastic recovery rate, loading deformation rate coefficient and rebound deformation rate coefficient, were proposed to evaluate the changes of asphalt’s properties; meanwhile, the accuracy of evaluating asphalt aging behavior with the above indicators were also analyzed by analyzing the differences between the above indicators and conventional performance indicators in evaluating the asphalt aging properties. On this basis, the nonlinear prediction model for asphalt aging was established based on the above indicators, and the aging rate values of asphalt were obtained to analyze the degradation laws of asphalt properties under natural aging conditions, and ultimately a reasonable preventive maintenance time was proposed. Results showed that, the maximum creep deformation, loading deformation rate coefficient and rebound deformation rate coefficient can effectively characterize the decay process of asphalt aging properties under natural aging conditions. Meanwhile, the nonlinear prediction model for asphalt aging established based on the above indicators had strong applicability, which can achieve bidirectional calculation for asphalt performance and aging time. Furthermore, as the aging time prolonged, the aging rate values corresponding to the maximum creep deformation, loading deformation rate coefficient and rebound deformation rate coefficient all decayed in the form of a cubic function model； and the turning points of aging rate were 6. 67 a, 5. 56 a, and 6. 67 a, respectively. Therefore, considering the safety of asphalt mixture performance, it was suggested that 5. 56 a as the threshold for intervention in preventive maintenance measures to restore asphalt performance. For the research on real-time accurate testing technology for the explosion point spatial coordinate of munitions, its currently commonly used methods such as acoustic–electric detection or high-speed imaging are limited by the field conditions, response rate, cost, and other factors. In this paper, a method of spatial coordinate testing for the explosion point based on a 2D PSD (position-sensitive detector) intersection is proposed, which has the advantages of a faster response, better real-time performance, and a lower cost. Firstly, a mathematical model of the spatial coordinate testing system was constructed, and an error propagation model for structural parameters was developed. The influence of the position of the optical axes' intersection as well as the azimuth angle and pitch angle on the test accuracy of the system was simulated and analyzed, thus obtaining the distribution and variation trend of the overall error propagation coefficient of the system. Finally, experiments were designed to obtain the test error of the system for validation. The results show that the system test accuracy is high when the azimuth angle is 20°–50°, the overall error propagation coefficient does not exceed 48.80, and the average test error is 56.17 mm. When the pitch angle is −2.5°–2.5°, the system has a higher test accuracy, with the overall error propagation coefficient not exceeding 44.82, and the average test error is 41.87 mm. The test accuracy of the system is higher when the position of the optical axes' intersection is chosen to make sure that explosion points fall in the region of the negative half-axis of the Z w -axis of the world coordinate system, with an overall error propagation coefficient of less than 44.78 and an average test error of 73.38 mm. It is shown that a reasonable selection of system structure parameters can significantly improve the system test accuracy and optimize the system deployment mode under the long-distance field conditions so as to improve the deployment efficiency. This paper presents a new algorithm to solve the optimal reconfiguration problem in distribution networks, using the algorithm called Improved Simulated Annealing combined with Hybrid Cooling (ISA-HC) and Selective Space Search, which leverages the capabilities of the Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) software and the selective space search concept to enhance performance and reduce the search space. The ISA-HC algorithm determines an adequate starting point for the temperature and initial solution according to the size of the system. For adequate cooling, a three-stage cooling approach was employed to achieve effective cooling, combining two methods widely used in the literature. Overall, the ISA-HC algorithm is a promising method for solving the optimal reconfiguration problem in distribution networks. The algorithm was tested on the systems of 5, 33, 69, and 94 buses and compared to other existing methods in the literature. Inertia is the measure of a power system's ability to resist power interference. The accurate estimation and prediction of inertia are crucial for the safe operation of the power system. To obtain the accurate power system inertia provided by generators, this paper proposes an estimation method considering the influence of frequency and voltage characteristics on the power deficit during transients. Specifically, the traditional swing equations-based inertia estimation model is improved by embedding linearized frequency and voltage factors. On this basis, the snake optimization algorithm is utilized to identify the power system inertia constant due to its strong global search ability and fast convergence speed. Power systems are naturally prone to numerous uncertainties. Power system functioning is inherently unpredictable, which makes the networks susceptible to instability. Rotor-angle instability is a critical problem that, if not effectively resolved, may result in a series of failures and perhaps cause blackouts (collapse). The issue of state feedback sliding mode control (SMC) for the excitation system is addressed in this work. Control is decentralized by splitting the global system into several subsystems. The effect of the rest of the system on a particular subsystem is considered a disturbance. The next step is to build the state feedback controller with the disturbance attenuation level in mind to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. The algorithm for SMC design is introduced. It is predicated on choosing the sliding surface correctly using the invariant ellipsoid approach. According to the control architecture, the system motion in the sliding mode is guaranteed to only be minorly affected by mismatched disturbances in power systems. Furthermore, the proposed controllers are expressed in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) using the Lyapunov theory. Scenario-based verification defines the current state of the art for examining a vessel's control systems for reliability and safety. However, software updates after release can only be covered to a limited extent. To take changes to a deployed system into account, the design and test phase must be harmonized with the operational phase. For all phases, regulatory, technical and safety requirements provide the scope to which the development process and the scenario-based tests need to be aligned and whose specifications the System under Test (SuT) must adhere to during operation. For this reason, a procedure is needed that converts the requirements into a format that can be utilized across all phases and measured in a structured manner comparing the original system to the updated version. This work does so by combining scenario-based verification methods with formal composition and monitoring techniques based on contract-based design into an integrated development approach. It is shown how safety requirements can be transferred into a Verification Descriptor that in turn provides the foundation for the division into model-based system development, contract-based virtual integration testing and a scenario-based test environment. For the entire lifecycle of the System under Test (SuT) to be included, the extended scenario and contract descriptors are carried forward up to the operational phase, such that the previously defined properties of the SuT can be monitored and validated during runtime. The results of an experiment assessing the applicability of solutions of 6-oxo-2-phenylimidazo[1,2-b]pyrido[4,3-e][1,2,4]triazine-7(6H)-yl)acetic acid on plates and cellulose substrates for detecting excessive levels of volatile organic compounds associated with endometritis inflammation relative to biologically normal levels are considered. The fluorescent properties of the dye are studied using gynecological mucus from cows collected in various periods (pre- and post-partum) and nasal mucus from newborn calves. The test system responses were compared with clinically established diagnoses and the results of a microbiological study. An evaluation of the test systems revealed a false positive rate of no more than 11% and a false negative rate of 2%. Other characteristics, such as specificity, accuracy, and precision of the test systems based on 6-oxo-2-phenylimidazo[1,2-b]pyrido[4,3-e][1,2,4]triazine-7(6H)-yl)acetic acid were also assessed. Complex practical system designs pose significant challenges from a research perspective, often resulting in high computational requirements for analysis. Model order reduction (MOR) is a valuable technique to address this issue. This study provides a comprehensive review of the literature on MOR, focusing specifically on high-dimensional complex systems. It examines the fundamental theories and limitations of established MOR methods, including the Factor division method, Pade approximation (PA) method, Stability equation (SE) method, Differentiation method, and Routh approximation (RA) method. The study also investigates the frequency domain approach for obtaining a reduced-order model (ROM). Among the MOR methods, the PA method is a widely studied and practical approach that aims to retain the crucial dynamics of a high-dimensional complex system. This survey presents a detailed discussion of the PA method for obtaining the ROM. Additionally, six test systems are analyzed to compare the step and frequency responses generated by various MOR strategies. The integral square error criterion is used to assess the effectiveness of the reduction procedures. Finally, the study proposes a new system abatement method based on Atomic Orbital Search (AOS) optimization for obtaining the ROM of large-scale linear time-invariant (LTI) systems and designing controllers based on the reduced order model. Software systems and product lines often use configurable features to specify a portfolio of product variants from a common core. Typically, their requirements also include constraints on which combinations of features are valid. Especially for larger systems and systems where the specifications are scattered among documents, the analysis of a new product's variability-related requirements is challenging. To address this, we introduce a scalable, tool-supported framework that uses a variability model to automate checks for missing and inconsistent features and constraints. Our approach also extends and scales traditional variability requirements engineering by incorporating combinatorial interaction testing techniques to build valid product variants covering all configurations in the variability model and to automatically discover faulty feature settings in failed builds. Results from evaluation on two configurable systems show that our framework is effective both at early detection of missing, incorrect, and inconsistent variability requirements and at later finding faulty feature configurations. The fir‐tree tenon/mortise structure in areo‐engine suffers from the combined high and low cycle fatigue (CCF) loads during service. The structural integrity of the tenon/mortise structure is significantly affected by the local strain distribution, while the strain value under the CCF loads is difficult to acquire. In this study, a simulated specimen of tenon/mortise structure is designed, and the CCF test is carried out using a divided‐path loading fixture to avoid interference between the high cycle fatigue (HCF) loads and the low cycle fatigue (LCF) loads. The high speed digital image correlation (DIC) method is adopted to acquire the real‐time strain distribution during CCF test. According to the strain results, the critical position of the mortise and its strain variation are determined. The high cycle strain of the mortise is proportional to the vibration amplitude of the tenon. The experimental results can provide basis for strength and life assessment. A better understanding of the flow field is crucial for improving the design of a turbomachine. In this work we investigate the performance of voluteless centrifugal fan rotors. The study includes two parts: experiments and numerical simulations through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques. Our test system allows the analysis of the flow behavior of centrifugal fan rotors maintaining the meridional shape without making substantial changes to their internal structure, but with different blade shapes, sizes, and blade numbers. To avoids irregular interference with the rotor flow from external components such as the collector a radial channel composed by two parallel discs was placed concentrically on the rotor axis at its outer periphery with special interest in measuring flow characteristics at the rotor outlet with a reliable accuracy. As an application case a typical centrifugal fan rotor with ten blades of single curvature in the circular arc shape has been investigated. Two types of measuring systems were used: one, with an aerodynamic probe located in the centrifugal rotor outlet and, the other, with a load cell for measuring the rotor shaft power. A comparison of the results by these two measuring arrangements shows some important characteristics, such as the phenomenon of the flow recirculation within the rotor. The experimental performance curves related to non-dimensional flow such as the slip factor, and pressure coefficient, revealed good matching with numerical simulations, highlighting the remarkable reliability of our experimental setup. Ondol is a heating system unique to Korean homes that increases indoor temperatures by supplying hot water through pipes embedded in floor slabs. Known for its comfort and sustained heating advantages, ondol has garnered international interest in countries requiring efficient heating solutions. Given the inherent challenges faced during installation and operation, timely inspection of ondol is crucial due to difficulties in detecting and locating defects in buried concrete pipes, often leading to costly rework and removal. However, specialized inspection systems tailored to ondol pipes remain underexplored. Therefore, this paper proposes a robotic inspection system capable of assessing the conditions of ondol pipelines. We analyze the characteristics of ondol piping to establish system requirements and develop a prototype of a compact capsule-shaped inspection robot tailored for ondol pipe inspection. Subsequent laboratory testing validates system performance and usability, confirming field applications through curvature maneuverability and image reception quality tests. This study aims to motivate advancements in ondol-specific system implementation and performance validation, potentially contributing to the smartification of ondol maintenance practices. Quantifying root length, surface area, average diameter, and volume of fully-matured corn (Zea mays L.) is labor intensive, time consuming, and costly. Accurate and efficient subsampling techniques are needed to overcome these limitations. In this study, eight corn root systems were grown to maturity in a sand-culture hydroponics system to develop and test root system subsampling techniques for accuracy (uncertainty assessment) and efficiency (time). Each entire root system was separated into coarse and fine roots, which were then composited into 65 subsamples, either visually or by mass, followed by subsample scanning to quantify root characteristics. A bootstrap non-parametric procedure was used to determine the sample size needed to represent the total root system and quantify uncertainty based on the number of subsamples analyzed. When subsamples were composited visually, as many as 60 subsamples (92% of the total root system) were necessary to represent the characteristics of the root system within ±5% of the true mean at a 95% confidence level. In contrast, when subsamples were composited by equal mass, a maximum of 15 subsamples (23% of the total root system) were needed to be representative, requiring 2 h and 15 min per root system. The findings show that separating the entire root system by coarse and fine roots and then weighing into equal mass subsamples before scanning decreased the number of subsamples and time required to accurately estimate corn root characteristics. A common way of exposing functionality in contemporary systems is by providing a Web-API based on the REST API architectural guidelines. To describe REST APIs, the industry standard is currently OpenAPI-specifications. Test generation and fuzzing methods targeting OpenAPI-described REST APIs have been a very active research area in recent years. An open research challenge is to aid users in better understanding their API, in addition to finding faults and to cover all the code. In this paper, we address this challenge by proposing a set of behavioural properties, common to REST APIs, which are used to generate examples of behaviours that these APIs exhibit. These examples can be used both (i) to further the understanding of the API and (ii) as a source of automatic test cases. Our evaluation shows that our approach can generate examples deemed relevant for understanding the system and for a source of test generation by practitioners. In addition, we show that basing test generation on behavioural properties provides tests that are less dependent on the state of the system, while at the same time yielding a similar code coverage as state-of-the-art methods in REST API fuzzing in a given time limit. A transportation system stress test is a set of one or more hypothetical scenarios designed to help determine if a transport system can continue to provide an acceptable level of service when subjected to one or more potentially disruptive events. Stress tests, if done well, enable policy makers, regulators, and network operators to assess the ability of transport systems to withstand and recover from potentially disruptive events, and modify the systems if necessary. Although work has been conducted on how to conduct high-level preliminary transportation stress tests, there has not yet been work conducted on how to conduct detailed quantitative simulation-based stress tests on transportation systems. This paper fills this gap by presenting both an approach to conduct simulation-based stress tests and example simulation-based stress tests for a transportation system subject to potentially disruptive hydrometeorological events. Three types of stress tests are conducted for the transportation system in the region of Chur, Switzerland, which is subject to heavy rainfalls that may result in floods and landslides. These include the stress caused by climate change leading to increasing the intensity of extreme rainfall events in the future, stress caused by uncertain future mobility behavior of people leading to excessive travel demand on the network, and stress caused by poor planning of the required resources for restoration interventions leading to having less resources for restoration than planned. It is argued that conducting such stress tests makes it clear to decision makers whether or not a transportation system is sufficiently resilient against various stressors, and if not, gives clear indications as to how it could be improved. In recent years, in order to reduce the damage from the blackout accident, the demand of the power system for its basic resistance ability has gradually increased. Therefore, this paper proposes a double‐layer optimization method for the prevention of cascading failure of the power system that takes into account the transient stability constraint for cascading trips that directly lead to the accident. In terms of models, the paper reconstructs an outer model for optimizing the safety margin based on the inner model that solves the safety margin of cascading failure prevention. In terms of algorithms, the paper uses the Extended Particle Swarm Optimization (EPSO) algorithm with higher precision and accuracy to solve the inner model and innovatively introduced the Practical Dynamic Security Region (PDSR), which uses PSASP software for offline calculation and online application, as a dynamic analysis method to quickly realize transient stability constraint to solve the outer model. Three evaluation indexes of the preventive optimization effect can be obtained by this method; dispatchers can plan more flexible and reliable optimal dispatching schemes through these indexes, to comprehensively improve the safety margin of cascading failure prevention in the current operating state and enhance the risk resistance ability of the power grid. The rheological parameters of oil testing fluids play a crucial role in safely conducting oil testing operations, protecting reservoirs, and maintaining wellbore integrity, which are greatly influenced by temperature and pressure. This article conducted rheological experiments on commonly used potassium salt polymer systems and organic salt systems for oil testing fluids in the Bohai Bay Oilfield under 4–200 °C and 30–150 MPa. The experiments revealed the variation of rheological parameters with temperature and pressure. Nine commonly used rheological models were evaluated for their applicability to the two types of oil testing fluids. It was found that the Ross model was suitable for the potassium salt polymer system, while the power-law model was suitable for organic salt oil testing fluids. A new rheological parameter prediction model suitable for wide range of temperature and pressure and different testing fluid systems was proposed based on the optimized results. The average error for the potassium salt polymer system for oil testing fluids was 0.101%, and the error for the organic salt system for oil testing fluids was 0.113%. Both were superior to known rheological models and can meet the requirements of oil testing operations within the wide temperature and pressure range in the Bohai Bay Oilfield. Few mobile robot developers already test their software on simulated robots in virtual environments or sceneries. However, the majority still shy away from simulation-based test campaigns because it remains challenging to specify and execute suitable testing scenarios, that is, models of the environment and the robots' tasks. Through developer interviews, we identified that managing the enormous variability of testing scenarios is a major barrier to the application of simulation-based testing in robotics. Furthermore, traditional CAD or 3Dmodelling tools such as SolidWorks, 3ds Max, or Blender are not suitable for specifying sceneries that vary significantly and serve different testing objectives. For some testing campaigns, it is required that the scenery replicates the dynamic (e.g., opening doors) and static features of real-world environments, whereas for others, simplified scenery is sufficient. Similarly, the task and mission specifications used for simulation-based testing range from simple point-to-point navigation tasks to more elaborate tasks that require advanced deliberation and decision-making. We propose the concept of composable and executable scenarios and associated tooling to support developers in specifying, reusing, and executing scenarios for the simulation-based testing of robotic systems. Our approach differs from traditional approaches in that it offers a means of creating scenarios that allow the addition of new semantics (e.g., dynamic elements such as doors or varying task specifications) to existing models without altering them. Thus, we can systematically construct richer scenarios that remain manageable. We evaluated our approach in a small simulation-based testing campaign, with scenarios defined around the navigation stack of a mobile robot. The scenarios gradually increased in complexity, composing new features into the scenery of previous scenarios. Our evaluation demonstrated how our approach can facilitate the reuse of models and revealed the presence of errors in the configuration of the publicly available navigation stack of our SUT, which had gone unnoticed despite its frequent use. Aim Methods Results Conclusions In Japan, noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has been performed by facilities accredited by the Japanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2013. However, since 2016, with the implementation of NIPT, which can only be performed by blood sampling, non‐obstetricians have been involved in prenatal testing. Therefore, in July 2022, a new government‐involved NIPT certification system based on Health Sciences Council guidelines was introduced to ensure access to prenatal testing information for pregnant women.This survey was conducted in February 2023 and was the first survey after the certification system implementation. We conducted a web‐based survey of 1227 pregnant women and nursing mothers who underwent NIPT after July 2022 to evaluate their experiences.Respondents were categorized by certification status as certified (C: 56%), non‐certified (non‐C: 23%), or uncertain (Q: 20%). The C group with a higher mean age at examination (35.0 ± 4.5 years) paid lower examination fees, received longer pre‐ and post‐examination explanations, and underwent more weekday examinations (80%) than the other groups. Most respondents, 67%, 48%, and 53% in the C, non‐C, and Q groups, respectively (p < 0.0001), stated that “NIPT needs to be regulated by the government or academic societies.” The non‐C group was more likely to say, “Insufficient post‐test explanations at the laboratory made me more anxious,” than the other groups when the testing results were non‐negative (p = 0.015).Despite government regulation, some pregnant women choose convenience over certified facilities, risking inadequate care. In pipeline ultrasonic testing, the accurate identification of defect types is a prerequisite for quantifying defect sizes. To this end, this paper proposes a defect identification algorithm based on the combination of Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT), Distance Evaluation Technique (DET) and GA-SVM to precisely identify defect boundaries. First, the ultrasonic echo signals are processed using WPT to more accurately extract defect information. Then, DET is employed to eliminate redundant feature parameters, which are sorted by sensitivity to determine the input feature parameters for the GA-SVM. On this basis, a self-developed ultrasonic testing experimental system is used to collect ultrasonic echo signals from Q235 steel pipes with cylindrical, spherical, and conical defects at different spatial orientations of the probe and the pipe. After processing and identifying the signals, it was found that the proposed algorithm achieves an average identification accuracy of 99% for different types of defects, thereby realising automatic identification of pipeline defects. The results provide new ideas and methods for the intelligent identification of volumetric defect types in pipeline ultrasonic internal testing and promote the development of industrial-grade ultrasonic internal detectors. Recycled concrete is a new and environmentally friendly material for future construction. When applying recycled concrete to cold and severe regions, it is necessary to consider the freeze–thaw resistance of recycled concrete. Using an indoor freeze–thaw cycle test system, the rapid freezing method was used to conduct rapid freeze–thaw tests on recycled concrete specimens under set freeze–thaw cycle conditions. Relevant parameters (such as compressive strength, quality loss rate, rebound value) were tested on recycled concrete specimens that completed the set number of freeze–thaw cycles. The influence of various factors (freeze–thaw cycle number, replacement rate of recycled aggregates) on the compressive strength, quality loss rate, and rebound value of recycled concrete was analyzed. The results indicate that with the increase of freeze–thaw cycles and recycled aggregate content, the workability, rebound value, and compressive strength of the specimens decrease, and the quality loss rate increases. The changes in workability of concrete are sharp, with a slump difference of 21 mm between concrete with 100% recycled coarse aggregate and concrete using natural coarse aggregate. The rebound value of the specimen shows a decreasing trend overall, but the rebound value varies for different measuring points on the same specimen. The attenuation of compressive strength is significant. When fully using recycled aggregates to prepare concrete, the compressive strength after 30 freeze–thaw cycles decreases by 49.42% compared to the compressive strength after 0 freeze–thaw cycles. Summary Mitigating inter‐area low‐frequency oscillations is a significant concern in multi‐machine power systems due to their adverse effects on system stability. These oscillations are intricately linked with power oscillations. So appropriate power modulation through the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) can be an effective strategy for preserving system stability. In this paper, the maximal of all minimal residue indices under variations in power system operating conditions is utilized as the index for identifying the location for installation of the BESS, the damping control loop, and the feedback signal. A fixed‐structure H∞$$ {H}_{\infty } $$ scheme‐based wide‐area damping controller (WADC) is proposed for the BESS, providing sufficient damping of inter‐area oscillation modes. A modified IEEE 39‐bus system is simulated using a real‐time digital simulator as a test system in this work. The simulation results confirmed that the proposed WADC could effectively damp various inter‐area oscillation modes. Furthermore, it offers robust damping performance over contingencies associated with the system's various operating scenarios as well as the uncertainty associated with fixed and variable communication delays in the feedback signal of WADC and the integration of solar photovoltaic systems. Moreover, a comparative analysis of the proposed WADC is carried out with a BESS‐based wide‐area power system stabilizer, which is found to be more effective in mitigating system inter‐area oscillations. Direct current microgrid (DCMG) clusters are gaining popularity in power systems due to their simplicity and high efficiency. However, DCMG clusters are susceptible to minor disturbances due to low system inertia. This paper proposes a method to enhance the small‐signal stability of a DCMG cluster by optimizing the main control parameters of the system. This paper presents a small‐signal state‐space model of a DCMG cluster system at the system level, considering a multi‐bus network topology. Then, the control parameters that significantly affect the small‐signal stability of the DCMG are selected using the participation factor method. To enhance the system damping, the Pareto‐optimal frontier of the bi‐objective problem was determined using the elite non‐dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA‐II). The optimal compromise is determined by using the fuzzy membership function method to extract it from the generated Pareto optimal front. Lowering expression of prion protein (PrP) is a wellvalidated therapeutic strategy in prion disease, but additional modalities are urgently needed. In other diseases, small molecules have proven capable of modulating pre-mRNA splicing, sometimes by forcing inclusion of cryptic exons that reduce gene expression. Here, we characterize a cryptic exon located in human PRNP’s sole intron and evaluate its potential to reduce PrP expression through incorporation into the 50 untranslated region. This exon is homologous to exon 2 in nonprimate species but contains a start codon that would yield an upstream open reading frame with a stop codon prior to a splice site if included in PRNP mRNA, potentially downregulating PrP expression through translational repression or nonsensemediated decay. We establish a minigene transfection system and test a panel of splice site alterations, identifying mutants that reduce PrP expression by as much as 78%. The purpose of this research is to address the problem of synchronization between two identical biological hyperchaotic snap oscillator systems with unknown parameters at a fixed time, as well as to design a new theory for synchronizing two different chaotic systems. Firstly, we designed an adaptive controller using Lyapunov stability and fixed-time stability theory to achieve synchronization between two identical biological hyperchaotic snap oscillator in fixed time under unknown parameters. Among the results obtained, we found that the synchronization time for system states occurred in a very short time compared to results in previous research. Secondly, we extended and generalized synchronization between non-identical chaotic systems by creating a theory for achieving synchronization in which adaptive control and fixed-time stability are combined. Through the new theory, the unknown parameters in chaotic systems were estimated, and the settling time was determined, which turned out to be very short and independent of the initial conditions of the system states. One of what makes the scheme important is that it can be easily applied to most chaotic and even hyperchaotic systems in the shortest possible time. Since the start of the mandatory nationwide bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) eradication program in Germany in 2011, the number of persistently infected (PI) animals has decreased considerably, resulting in a continuous decrease in seroprevalence. The increasingly BVD-naive cattle population could facilitate spillover infections with non-BVDV ruminant pestiviruses. Here, we report two cases in which novel pestiviruses were isolated from cattle; in both cases, the whole genome sequence showed the highest level of identity to strain "Pestivirus reindeer-1". Both novel viruses gave positive results in BVDV diagnostic test systems, confirming that cross-reactivity is an important issue in pestivirus diagnostics. In the first case, the pestivirus was probably transmitted from sheep kept with the affected cattle, suggesting that the co-housing of small ruminants and cattle is a risk factor. The source of infection could not be determined in the second case. The occurrence of these two cases in independent cattle holdings within a relatively short time frame suggests that it would be useful to determine the presence of pestiviruses in small ruminants or even wild ruminants to better assess risk factors, especially for BVDV-free populations. The propeller performance of small loitering munition is easily affected by the smaller blade size and lager hub ratio. A loitering munition encountered the problems of propeller speed is too high, and the endurance is not enough, the propeller wind tunnel test, the calculation results and flight performance are different. Aiming at the problem of inconsistent calculation results, the numerical simulation of the experimental subject was carried out. The result shows that the propeller hub produces a large negative thrust and torque, which is the most important factor leading to a significant decrease in propeller efficiency and increase in propeller speed. According to the calculation results, the formula of the hub thrust and torque correction and the propeller optimization design are given. In view of the large difference between the wind tunnel test efficiency value and flight performance, the propulsion system wind tunnel test was carried out, the problem of incoming flow interference is solved and accurate experimental results are obtained. In order to improve propeller efficiency, a propeller calculation model is derived based on propeller vortex theory, the optimization design of propeller aerodynamic profile is carried out by using genetic algorithm toolbox, with the efficiency of propeller at cruise as objective, the thrust and maximum counter torque in climb as constraints. The design results are verified by the wind tunnel test of the propulsion system. A long rigid-flexible coupling transmission shaft (RFCTS) is usually used to connect the dynamometer with the device under test (DUT) in semi-anechoic chamber. However, due to the parameter error and torsional vibration characteristic of RFCTS, load emulation loading accuracy of the test bench is lower. Therefore, the research focused on establishing a control-oriented vehicle powertrain system test bench (VPSTB) model based on RFCTS to further improve the load emulation loading accuracy. First, a 14-degrees of freedom (DOF) high-order lumped mass model of VPSTB is established, and the stiffness and moment of inertia equivalent parameters are obtained. Subsequently, a 7-DOF simplified control-oriented VPSTB model is established based on 14-DOF model, and the model parameters are identified by the recursive least squares estimation (RLSE) method with forgetting factor. Simultaneously, the natural frequency of 14-DOF high-order model and 7-DOF simplified model is calculated, then un-damped vibration response of the two models are compared and analyzed. Finally, simulation and experimental are carried out under open-loop and closed-loop conditions, which show that the effectiveness of 7-DOF simplified model parameters, and it also indicate that the 7-DOF simplified VPSTB model can achieve better loading accuracy of load emulation. This paper introduces a test system for microwave-assisted dual-mode mechanical cutting of hard rock under true triaxial compression. The test system was developed by Northeastern University, China, to simulate the cutting and breaking of hard rock by a tunnel boring machine (TBM). The test system is mainly composed of a dual-mode mechanical cutting subsystem, a true triaxial loading subsystem and a high-power microwave presplitting subsystem. The system performs dual-mode cutting under true triaxial stress, applies a single sensor to monitor the three-dimensional force of the cutter head, and integrates the reduction in the vibration and resistance to torsion during the cutting process. Mechanical cutting tests of basalt under different amounts of microwave irradiation and true triaxial stress conditions were conducted in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, China. The results showed that microwave radiation presplitting effectively improved the efficiency of mechanical rock breaking. However, after 180 s of microwave irradiation, true triaxial high stress inhibited the mechanical breaking of basalt in terms of the overall excavation depth. During the tests, each system performed stably. The test results verified the reliability of the test system. Highlights: A true triaxial stress microwave-assisted mechanical dual-mode cutting test system is independently developed. The proposed system simulates rock breaking by a microwave-assisted roadheader under different ground stress conditions. The cutting test system innovates in three main facets: it carries out a dual-mode cutting test system in rock breaking; it realizes a unified monitoring output of a single sensor for the three-dimensional force; and it integrates the seismic resistance and torsion resistance to create a smooth system body. As the cutting test is conducted, the effective influence range of microwave radiation on rock is verified, and the degree of influence of true triaxial high stress on microwave-assisted mechanical cutting is revealed, providing guidance for deep microwave-assisted rock breaking of roadheaders. The increasing prevalence of esophageal disease highlights the clinical relevance of novel, long-lasting mucoadhesive oral dosage forms. The EsoCap device enables targeted local application of films in the esophagus. Biorelevant test systems such as EsoPeriDiss are essential for early formulation development. To this end, the developed and already described release model for simulating the esophagus is being further developed for its potential for biorelevant mapping of the application site through complete tempering and investigation of biorelevant release media. Particularly viscous saliva formulations led to an extension of the retention time. In addition, possible formulation strategies for increasing the retention time of esophageal applied films are being evaluated, such as different film thicknesses, polymer grades and the influence of different active ingredient properties on the retention time. For highly soluble active ingredients, the film thickness represents an option for extending the retention time, while for less soluble substances, the choice of polymer grade may be of particular interest. Wear simulation aims to assess wear rates and their dependence on factors like load, kinematics, temperature, and implant orientation. Despite its significance, there is a notable gap in research concerning advancements in simulator control systems and the testing of clinically relevant waveforms. This study addresses this gap by focusing on enhancing the conventional proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller used in joint simulators through the development of a fuzzy logic-based controller. Leveraging a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) fuzzy logic control system, this study aimed to improve displacement control, augmenting the traditional proportional–integral (PI) tuning approach. The implementation and evaluation of a novel Fuzzy-PI control algorithm were conducted on the Leeds spine wear simulator. This study also included the testing of dailyliving (DL) profiles, particularly from the hip joint, to broaden the scope of simulation scenarios. While both the conventional PI controller and the Fuzzy-PI controller met ISO tolerance criteria for the spine flexion–extension (FE) profile at 1 Hz, the Fuzzy-PI controller demonstrated superior performance at higher frequencies and with DL profiles due to its real-time adaptive tuning capability. The Fuzzy-PI controller represents a significant advancement in joint wear simulation, offering improved control functionalities and more accurate emulation of real-world physiological dynamics.
