Researcher Jerry Mandel, by way of a technical criticism of one portion of the author's findings, attempts to question the theoretical implication of the entire study. Whether Mandel has succeeded in casting doubt on the author's article "Racial Prejudice and Personality Scales: An Alternative Approach," published in the October 1962 issue of the journal "Social Forces" will depend on the validity and implications of a statistical criticism and on whether his own data effectively challenge the cogency of the earlier presentation. In this article the author looks first at the statistical issues, next at certain errors and omissions in his paper, and finally at questions of a theoretical nature. There was the clearly stated hypothesis, which Mandel quotes, asserting that, since the associations between prejudice are a function of their coherence in the culture, then to control for a non-causal factor would have little or no effect on the AN-AS relationship. Mandel is looking for help from the same esoteric theory which he went to so much trouble to combat.

The effect of 3 different sampling techniques on forehead surface lipid biochemistry was investigated. Samples obtained by either a sponge method or by ether washings contained significantly more free fatty acid and cholesterol and less triglyceride, wax ester and squalene than did samples collected by absorbent papers. The reasons for these differences are discussed and it is suggested that more careful attention to detail is necessary in the sampling and handling of surface lipids before biochemical analysis. The article presents the history and status of the literature of mammalogy. It notes that the annual quantity of literature on mammalogy is increasing space with the general literature of science and is doubling approximately each 15 years. Also, the number of the authors per paper and the total number of author are increasing. It highlights that comparing with other zoological record, the journal of mammalogy lists the fewer titles per comparable year, but publishes 3 or more a year, sooner that does the record.

The article focuses on the study which attempts to employ curricular reformation in undergraduate biological education. The study is done through the use of two exercises, which are both part of a course in developmental biology at the University of Toledo. The first exercise is "Cytodifferentiation: Formation of Multinucleated Myotubes in vitro," in which students are asked to observe changes in the experimented cells. The second exercise is "Cell Aggregation: Formation of Multicellular Systems," in which students are asked to investigate one or two influences on aggregation. Through these exercises, the students were able to realize that more exercises should be adapted in other subjects as well for learning purposes.

The article presents information on studies conducted by the authors on activity of sebaceous glands by means of osmic acid filter papers. The authors wished to investigate variations in sebaceous gland activity in several skin disorders; alterations in gland activity associated with menstrual cycle and with pregnancy, and alterations in gland activity produced by external applications of sulphur and sulphur-containing compounds. The authors found that there was a remarkable effect if the patient was emotionally upset.
