Le patrimoine écrit et graphique, plus discret que le patrimoine architectural ou pictural, mérite tout autant notre attention de par sa qualité, sa rareté et son originalité. Conservé majoritairement en bibliothèques et en services d’archives, il prend tout son sens dès lors qu’il peut être partagé et porté à la connaissance d’un large public. Avec ses partenaires, Occitanie Livre & Lecture accompagne les établissements de conservation vers cet objectif. En 2019, une méthodologie innovante a été mise en œuvre sur le territoire régional. Avec une approche plus collective des projets, elle s’appuie sur une coopération nationale et régionale renforcée. Après deux premières années de réalisation, elle permet déjà de révéler les thématiques fortes du territoire, de redécouvrir des fonds parfois oubliés et de découvrir des fonds d’exception. The written and graphic heritage, more discreet than the architectural or pictorial heritage, deserves as much our attention for its quality, its rarity and its originality. It is mainly kept in libraries and archives and it takes on its full meaning when it can be shared and brought to the attention of a wide public. With its partners, Occitanie Livre & Lecture supports conservation institutions towards this goal. In 2019, an innovative methodology was implemented in the regional territory. With a more collective approach to projects, it builds on strengthened national and regional cooperation. After two first years of realization, it already allows to reveal the strong themes of the territory, to rediscover funds that had sometimes been forgotten and to discover exceptional funds.

Las nuevas líneas y usos que propulsa la Historia Pública son un excelente acicate para que los historiadores/as, así como los docentes de esta disciplina, apuesten no solo por renovar sus investigaciones sino también por realizar cambios en las aulas que saquen la Historia a la calle y llegar así a un público no especializado, pero cada vez más demandante de conocimientos históricos. En esta línea, el binomio Historia-Turismo tiene mucho que aportar, como demuestra la presencia cada vez mayor del Turismo Histórico y que aumenten los visitantes que eligen rutas culturales e históricas. Todavía es mucho lo que se puede avanzar, máxime cuando se trata de revalorizar un patrimonio que suele pasar desapercibido, incluso para los gestores culturales: el Patrimonio Escrito. Nuestras ciudades están llenas de escritura: grafitis, carteles publicitarios, bandos informativos, avisos, anuncios por palabras, estelas, placas, etc. Nuestro propósito en este artículo es acercarnos a los itinerarios turísticos como medio para divulgar la Historia a través del Patrimonio Escrito y analizar sus múltiples posibilidades. Para ello, reflexionaremos en torno a un estudio de caso a partir de nuestra experiencia docente en la asignatura transversal Patrimonio histórico y cultura escrita: nuevos itinerarios turísticos que impartimos en la Universidad de Alcalá, que supone un ejercicio práctico que pretende aunar la Historia Pública, los itinerarios turísticos y el Patrimonio Escrito. The new lines and uses promoted by Public History are an excellent incentive for historians, as well as teachers of this discipline, to bet not only on renewing their research but also on making changes in the classrooms that bring History to the forefront and thus reach a non-specialized audience, but increasingly demanding historical knowledge. In this regard, the binomial History-Tourism has a lot to contribute, as evidenced by the increasing presence of Historic Tourism and the increase in visitors who choose cultural and historical routes. There is still a lot that can be done, especially when it comes to revaluing a heritage that often goes unnoticed, even for cultural managers: Written Heritage. Our cities are full of writing: graffiti, billboards, informational banners, notices, word announcements, stelae, plaques, etc. Our purpose in this article is to approach tourist itineraries as a mean of spreading History through Written Heritage and analyzing its multiple possibilities. To do this, we will reflect on a case study based on our teaching experience in the transversal subject “Historical heritage and written culture: new tourist itineraries” that we teach at the University of Alcalá, which is a practical exercise that aims to combine Public History, tourist itineraries and Written Heritage.

Studies of written heritage have been encouraged during the last years in Europe. They have recently introduced new fields of study within its methodology such as palaeography and codicology, mainly in cataloguing documents. Many libraries have been updated through new catalogues and editions of its manuscripts collections in different ancient languages. Other collections have been restored or inventoried by specialists. The research group devoted to the study of original texts in languages developed in the Mediterranean basin since antiquity is trying to contribute to this field. A survey on the studies carried out during the last years in the CSIC is here presented.
