У статті відмічено, що головними функціями управління людськими ресурсами є мотивація, планування та організація. Головною метою дослідження є визначення головних детермінант мотивації кадрового капіталу в секторі роздрібної торгівлі залежно від типу поколінь (Х, У, Z). У роботі зазначено, що працівник з високим рівнем мотивації є основою для досягнення цілей компанії, оскільки мотивація співробітників сприяє підвищенню рівня задоволеності та лояльності клієнтів. За результатами дослідження встановлено, що найбільш поширеним інструментом мотивації є фінансові стимули у вигляді підвищення заробітної плати чи додаткових бонусів. Авторами не виявлено відмінностей у мірі задоволеності заробітною платою між поколіннями. У ході дослідження визначено, що співробітники є менш задоволеними спілкуванням на робочому місці та стилем керівництва. При цьому вони не мають права приймати рішення та не відчувають приналежності до робочого місця. У порівнянні зі старшими поколіннями, представники покоління Z є менш задоволеними гарантіями зайнятості. Більшість працівників сектору роздрібної торгівлі не вважає свою роботу цікавою чи різноманітною. У результаті дослідження авторами встановлено, що працівники вважають темп праці надто прискореним, хоча вони є достатньо підготовленими до виконуваної роботи. Результати проведеного опитування засвідчили, що більшість респондентів не погоджуються з наявним стилем зворотного зв'язку з менеджментом. Представники покоління Z вважають, що вони можуть адекватно використовувати свої знання та навички на робочому місці. При цьому у порівнянні зі старшими поколіннями, покоління Z, загалом, піддається переважно критиці, ніж похвалі. In the 21st century, the rapid technological development in different innovations has not reduced the value of human capital. It is considered to be the most valuable capital of businesses and acts as a driving force of business activity. The perception of human capital should be essential since it has a real impact on the business's success. In human resources management, it is necessary to keep in mind one of the basic functions of management: motivation, planning, and organizing. The main goal of this article is to identify the critical determinants of motivation factors of the human resources capital in the retail sector. An adequately motivated employee is a key to achieving the company goals since employee motivation maintains customer satisfaction and loyalty. Based on the results, the most popular motivation tools proved to be the financial incentives in the form of salary increases or bonuses. In the case of generational differences, there is no difference in the degree of satisfaction with the salary. The employees expressed to be less satisfied with their workplace's communication and leadership style. They have no decisionmaking power at all. Besides, they do not really feel a sense of belonging somewhere. The members of Generation Z are less satisfied with job security than the representatives of older generations. Most of the retail employees do not find their work interesting or diverse. On the other hand, they think the pace of the work is too fast, but they are well prepared for the work they are doing. Based on the answers, most of the respondents disagree with the inappropriate style of feedback they receive from the managers. The members of Generation Z feel that they cannot adequately utilize their knowledge and skills at their workplaces. They get more criticism than praise than the representatives of older generations.

Purpose: In this networked world, the buyer's purchase decisions are influenced by the arrangement and presentation of items in the store. Nowadays, the furniture and furnishing types have become more viable in the retail industry. Many new businesses are entering into the organized format of retail in this category. Hence the retailers need to differentiate themselves from each other. As the products are similar, it is necessary to differentiate themselves by presenting them with visual merchandising. Objective: The core objective of this work is to study the influence of visual merchandising on consumer purchase patterns based on store attributes. Another objective of this study is to know the dimensions which influence the purchase behavior or decision of the consumers, Design/Methodology/Approach: For this analysis, we have considered many online sources, namely websites and blogs, which guide and review display merchandising. Percentages, charts, diagrams are being used to present the tabular data. Findings/Result: It is found that variables like store appearance, lighting, music, window display, mannequins, and price tags have an impact on the purchase choice of consumers, as per the changing need of consumer the retailer should always try to maximise the quantity of new merchandising relating to the trend. The store must adopt a congenial store atmosphere to attract a maximum number of customers and retain them in their business for long. Originality/Value: Through the help of primary and secondary data, the study revealed that male youngster customers are more frequently visiting the store. The study reveals that the seating arrangement inside the store is not sufficient. The majority of the customer is visiting Reliance Digital to buy some specific product. We present a social simulation model that covers three main financial services: Banks, Retail Stores, and Payments systems. Our aim is to address the problem of a lack of public data sets for fraud detection research in each of these domains, and provide a variety of fraud scenarios such as money laundering, sales fraud (based on refunds and discounts), and credit card fraud. Currently, there is a general lack of public research concerning fraud detection in the financial domains in general and these three in particular. One reason for this is the secrecy and sensitivity of the customers data that is needed to perform research. We present PaySim, RetSim, and BankSim as three case studies of social simulations for financial transactions using agent-based modelling. These simulators enable us to generate synthetic transaction data of normal behaviour of customers, and also known fraudulent behaviour. This synthetic data can be used to further advance fraud detection research, without leaking sensitive information about the underlying data. Using statistics and social network analysis (SNA) on real data we can calibrate the relations between staff and customers, and generate realistic synthetic data sets. The generated data represents real world scenarios that are found in the original data with the added benefit that this data can be shared with other researchers for testing similar detection methods without concerns for privacy and other restrictions present when using the original data.

Assessing the efficiency of retail supply chains (RSCs) requires analytical tools that address the different activities involved in these chains. In this sense, dynamic network Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) arises as a suitable method to evaluate the operational performance of RSCs over a period of time. However, its use for sustainability-oriented efficiency assessment constitutes a knowledge gap that limits its applicability for thorough decision-making processes, e.g. at the retail company level. This article fills this gap through the combination of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and dynamic network DEA. A novel five-step LCA + DEA approach is proposed and applied to a case study of 30 RSCs in Spain for the period 2015–2017. In this case, the supply chain structure involves three divisions: central distribution, operation of retail stores, and home delivery. Both overall- and term-efficiency scores were found to widely range from 0.38 to 1.00, with only 1 RSC deemed efficient. Regarding divisional efficiency, store operation was found to generally show significantly higher efficiency scores than the distribution divisions. The link between long distribution distances and low efficiency stresses the relevance of integrating a network perspective into the efficiency assessment. In addition to efficiency scores, the LCA + DEA approach enriches the assessment by providing environmental, operational and socio-economic benchmarks to further support the management of RSCs from a sustainability perspective.

Geothermal systems are becoming increasingly popular during the surge of green building. However, their popularity is limited by a lack of knowledge and perceived risk associated with a new system. These systems do not pollute the environment because they operate from earth's natural energy and do not alter chemical compounds. Geothermal systems are cheaper in the long run because only equipment that uses combustion requires expensive fuel to operate. These savings counteract the higher price of the equipment installation. Energy conservation also benefits society because there is less damage to the environment. Buildings that are sustainable can be recognized with LEED certification but properties that violate environmental standards can be penalized. Geothermal systems are a good option to improve sustainability because it can improve the quality of the work environment and profitability of business. Moderately sized retail building projects that use them are at an advantage compared to those that do not. This paper provides an in depth study of geothermal system for retails stores in Northeastern United States.

The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of complaining behaviour on defection behaviour based on demographics (gender, age, marital status, education and, income level) of the dissatisfied customers of retail stores. A structured questionnaire was successfully distributed to 600 respondents, who had made purchases from sixty retail formats operated in Delhi and Gurugram belonging to the domain of Shopping Malls, Hypermarket, Supermarket, Department Stores, Discount stores and Category Killers through systematic stratified sampling for the collection of data. Out of 377 valid ones questionnaires for analysis, a set of 89 responsents have shown dissatisfaction about the retail store products and services and have taken in this study (N=89). Multiple regression analysis with forward selection was employed to predict the effect of complaining actions on defection behaviour based on demographics (gender, age, marital status, education and, income level) of the dissatisfied customers of retail stores. The study has found a significant effect of complaining actions on defection behaviour of dissatisfied customers of retail stores based on their education qualification and income level. However, gender, age and maritial status of dissatisfied customers did not moderate the the relationship between complaining actions and switching behaviour. The recommendations for managers are also discussed.

This study aimed to compare the influence of different musical styles on customers’ behavior and attitude. An experiment was conducted in a retail store in the city of Uberaba (MG). In this experiment, three different musical styles were tested (country, axé and pop rock) and the absence of music was the control group. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire which sought to measure customer attitudes through three components (affective, cognitive and conative). Results indicated that the country musical style has more positive influence on customer attitude than other styles (axé and pop rock). Moreover, it was found that the consumers’ attitude was less positive in the scenario where there was no background music in the store, showing that music positively influences the attitude regardless of musical style.

This study describes a method for the assessment of retail store performance using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The method is applied to the Portuguese company, Parfois, operating in retail fashion accessories, where we analyze the efficiency of 63 stores operating in Portugal. Firstly, we present a literature review on the subject, followed by a description of the company and the DEA method applied to the Parfois stores. Then, some of the factors potentially affecting the efficiency of Parfois stores are also analyzed, and the implications of using this method are discussed. The main intention of the study is to show how DEA can be used as a support tool to the management of Parfois stores at a national level and to help the company, through the identification of areas of potential growth, to define objectives, to increase its performance and achieve excellence.

Due to increasing concerns about environmental protection, the environmental sustainability of businesses has been widely considered in the manufacturing and supply chain context. Further, its adoption has been implemented in the retail industry for marketing field, including green product promotion. This study aimed to propose a customer purchasing behavior analysis as an alternative for supporting decision-making in order to promote green products in retail stores. Hence, right-on-target marketing strategies can be implemented appropriately. The study was carried out using shopping path data collected by radio frequency identification (RFID) from a large retail store in Seoul, South Korea. In addition, the store layout and its traffic were also analyzed. This method is expected to help experts providing appropriate decision alternatives. In addition, it can help retailers in order to increase product sales and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

In January 2013, Apple Inc obtained United States trademarks for the design and layout of its retail stores. While innovative brand protection strategies of this kind are not without precedent in the United States, traders in Australia have seemingly not adopted them. This article considers the prospects of an applicant seeking to register a similar trade mark in Australia and the protection such a registration would likely provide.

The increase and expansion of out-of-town shopping centres is often criticized for out-competing retail business within city centres. City retailers’ own perceptions of competition within and between retail districts are here analyzed via choice experiments in the city of Gävle, Sweden. Choice experiments allow qualitative data to be transformed into quantitative data that can then be analyzed using statistical techniques. The results indicate that city retailers in general perceived a competitive threat within rather than between retail districts. Thus, city retailers do not seem to share policymakers’ concerns that out-of-town shopping centres out-compete retail business within city centres. This implies that city retailers either are naive, or that policy makers tend to overestimate the competitive threat, from out-of-town shopping centres.

This paper presents in-store customer behavioral model gathered from RFID (RadioFrequency Identification) tags communication data. Although this kind of research has beenmade by various methods such as interviewing or tracking behind customers, Conventionalresearch methods are made by with the existence of customer tracking research, so far. Forcollection of natural customer behavior, we made a customer in-store behavior research withRFID tags in a real retail store. In a conventional store design theory, it has been thought thatincreasing the length of staying time can raise the amount of money per person. Therefore,the store has been designed in the form that goes inside of a shop around. The experimentalresults suggest that there is a correlation between the spent of time and the length of customerwalking path.
