The main outdoor factors that reduce the efficiency of the photovoltaic (PV) panel are the reflection and refraction of light, dirt, dust, and organic waste accumulating on the panel surface. In this article, an antireflection, self-cleaning coating was applied on the PV panel cover glass with a new method. With the coating, the surface has been given a hydrophobic feature. As a coating method, a 3-D printer has not been seen in the literature and used as a new method. The electrospinning method has also been tried as an alternative method. Solutions in different combinations were developed using polylactic acid or polymethylmethacrylate polymer, chloroform ($\text{CHCl}_3$) as a solvent, and silicon dioxide ($\text{SiO}_2$) and titanium dioxide ($\text{TiO}_2$) nanoparticles as primary materials in a modified 3-D printer for bioprinting. Five PV panels were obtained by applying different 3-D parameters from three solutions, which have the best results. Coating thicknesses are in the range of 3.12-8.47 mu m. Coated and uncoated PV panels were tested in outdoor conditions for ten-day periods. The power outputs of the PV panels were measured, and their ten-day average efficiency was presented. According to the results, the highest efficiency increase is 8.7%. The highest light transmittance is 88.2% at 550 nm. In addition, hydrophobic properties were observed on all surfaces and the water contact angle was measured as 96.18 degrees.

During development of the Standard Lithuanian language at the end of the 19th century, the dialectal basis was chosen first, and the orthography varied yet for another twenty years. This article analyses the dual orthography – of books and personal orthography of their authors. The study is designed to find out whether the books published during that period reflect the orthographic model chosen by their authors; what factors, in addition to the author’s choice, may have influenced the orthography of the books. The influence of printers on the orthography of books during that period was smaller than before, as many authors did the proofreading themselves. Thus, printers were able to change the orthography in cases where books were printed without the author’s knowledge or consent, such as prayer books. If the author chose unusual, rare, or even self-invented characters, a limited inventory of prints could be a serious obstacle to keep their orthography in the book. As the case of Jonas Basanavičius shows, even when the author offered to finance the acquisition of the necessary prints, this was not necessarily done.At the end of the 19th century, books were published as supplements to periodicals. The editors of newspapers Ūkininkas and Tėvynės sargas adapted the orthography of such books to their periodicals. Under the terms of the press ban, it was often important for authors just to print a book, and the spelling model was chosen by the publisher. However, authors such as Basanavičius, who considered themselves the creators of the standard language, took care to present their chosen or created model of orthography in their books as well.As the cases of Liudvika Didžiulienė, Dominykas Tumėnas and Basanavičius show, two orthographic standards emerged during the research period: correspondence was written one way and books were printed another. Hence, it is not always possible to judge the orthographic model chosen by the authors in books published at the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century.

Printers are everyday devices in both our homes and workplaces. We have previously found high occupational exposure levels to toner-based printer emitted nanoparticles (PEPs) at printing centers. To elucidate the potential health effects from exposure to PEPs, a total of 124 human serum samples were collected from 32 workers in the printing centers during the repeated follow-up measurements, and global serum metabolomics were analyzed in three ways: correlation between metabolic response and personal exposure (dose response exposure); metabolite response changes between Monday and Friday of a work week (short-term exposure), and metabolite response in relation to length of service in a center (long-term exposure). A total of 52 key metabolites changed significantly in relation to nanoparticle exposure levels. The primary dysregulated pathways included inflammation and immunity related arginine and tryptophan metabolism. Besides, some distinct metabolite expression patterns were found to occur during the transition from short-term to long-term exposures, suggesting cumulative effect of PEPs exposure. These findings, for the first time, highlight the inhalation exposure responses to printer emitted nanoparticles at the metabolite level, potentially serving as pre-requisites for whole organism and population responses, and are inline with emerging findings on potential health effects. Problem statement. Printing services are known to release multiple pollutants of different sizes during the different processes of printing, gluing and cutting paper. The purpose of this article was the quantification of pollutant indoor emissions during working shifts in printing service. Particle concentration measurement when three printings are operating continuously showed that values of PM10 and PM2.5 could exceed the limits set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Conclusion. Measurements in confined environments containing printer and the gluing machine have shown that concentrations can reach values above the limits set by WHO and worrying values in the case of gluing machine. The result affirms the importance of ventilation system and the necessity of dispersing machines in a large.

Abstract Biblical and missionary societies began to distribute Protestant Bibles and texts in Spain on a regular basis in the 1830s, through agents. One of the most important of these agents was James Graydon. He operated in Barcelona, where he published the Nou Testament in Catalan (1836) and the Biblia (1837) in Spanish. Both works were printed at the workshop of Antonio Bergnes de las Casas, in addition to other polemic and apologetic Protestant, which the colporteur distributed throughout the Mediterranean coast. Bergnes’ network of agents and the role played by press advertising were essential for the distribution of these Protestant works. They were met by a notable response from Catholics, in newspapers and in anti-Protestant texts, which deepened the debate on religious freedom and the freedom of worship.

The use of 3D printing in the chemical and analytical sciences has gained a lot of momentum in recent years. Some of the earliest publications detailed 3D-printed interfaces for mass spectrometry, which is an evolving family of powerful detection techniques. Since then, the application of 3D printing for enhancing mass spectrometry has significantly diversified, with important reasons for its application including flexible integration of different parts or devices, fast customization of setups, additional functionality, portability, cost-effectiveness, and user-friendliness. Moreover, computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D printing enables the rapid and wide distribution of scientific and engineering knowledge. 3D printers allow fast prototyping with constantly increasing resolution in a broad range of materials using different fabrication principles. Moreover, 3D printing has proven its value in the development of novel technologies for multiple analytical applications such as online and offline sample preparation, ionization, ion transport, and developing interfaces for the mass spectrometer. Additionally, 3D-printed devices are often used for the protection of more fragile elements of a sample preparation system in a customized fashion, and allow the embedding of external components into an integrated system for mass spectrometric analysis. This review comprehensively addresses these developments, since their introduction in 2013. Moreover, the challenges and choices with respect to the selection of the most appropriate printing process in combination with an appropriate material for a mass spectrometric application are addressed; special attention is paid to chemical compatibility, ease of production, and cost. In this review, we critically discuss these developments and assess their impact on mass spectrometry. (c) 2021 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. This paper aims to explain what business models were outlined at the beginning of European and Spanish journalism (XVI-XVII centuries). We gather in it the research results of our previous works on local scenarios and particular cases to try, from them, to design a common framework of interpretation on the structure of property and production of print media in the Modern Age. The article is structured in two parts: in the first one, we make a typology of the jobs and functions related to the collection, production and dissemination of news, and its relationship with the civil and ecclesiastical power. In the second we refer to a case that we can highlight as paradigmatic, because it gives an idea of the remarkable complexity of journalism as an object of trade already in its first centuries of existence: the case of Seville journalism.

Today, when choosing the optimal technology and device for imaging, not only technical, but also economic and ecology factors are taken into account. In the latest printing methods on fabrics environmentally ecological and high-quality basic and auxiliary materials are used, therefore printed imprints are resistant to ultraviolet rays, reproduced with photographic quality, retaining facture surface and elasticity of textile with guaranteed long-term exploitation. It is also an opportunity to create an individual original and unique picture or advertise own brand. For printing there are a wide range of colors with high brightness and saturation and a variety of fabrics, both natural and synthetic. Provided with the use of professional equipment, high-quality consumables and a strict algorithm for order fulfillment, it is possible to obtain images with a high resistance to mechanical influences and perfect detail of the elements. Achievements of science and technology allow to carry out the process of printing images not only in the textile industry, but also in part by printing methods. Such methods of finishing and printing on textile make it possible to get various specific and textured effects of the image, among which: mirror, holographic, light effect and reflection when exposed to ultraviolet, volume and velvet effect, imitation of stencil printing, etc. This article presents an overview of modern printing technology on textiles, which, owing to its technological and technical advantages, enables the rapid and high-quality imaging of textiles and products from it. Presented the generalized schemes of technological operations of printing the image onto a dark and light fabric are given, taking into account the specificity of direct digital printing; describes the essence of this method and its technological features. Since printing is done on special printers, the article presents the main technological characteristics of the printers of the most famous manufacturers.

The convent of Santa Cruz of Dominican nuns in Vitoria-Gasteiz preserves, within its textile heritage, four silk stamped thesis sheets, all from the eighteenth century. The present paper shows a historical and artistic analysis of these printed pieces in Mexico, Bilbao and Zaragoza, unique, no doubt, for the textile support of their stamping. This sort of printed matter, product of academic events at university and convents, gave important support to the engraving, occupying good part of the activity of gravers and printers, who tried to capture in its decoration the same ostentation that was displayed in academic acts.

For a better knowledge of the economy but also of the editorial enunciation it is convenient to ask about the role of the different actors that cooperate in the manufacture of the book. Of all of them, perhaps the less known and taken into account are the printers, bookbinders and paper stockists. The analysis of the situation of the book arts in Madrid at the end of the 19th century and of the documentation provided by the printing presses of Aguado, Gómez Fuentenebro and López del Horno and two paper warehouses in relation to manufacturing, between 1896 and In 1913, about a hundred books for the Gregorio del Amo Catholic bookshop in Madrid allow a more precise idea of the technical, economic and even aesthetic dimension of their respective contributions.

Additive manufacturing (AM), otherwise known as 3D-Printing (3DP) or rapid prototyping (RP), is the fabrication of an object from zero by means of depositing materials layer by layer. 3DP allows the creation of complex geometrical objects such as human anatomy. 3DP applications in a surgical setting have mainly been described for anatomical models (surgical planning, simulation and education), customized implants, prostheses and surgical guides. In order to 3DP for surgical planning, Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) images are converted to Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files. This process is called segmentation. Segmentation of bone structures is nowadays quite automated, whilst this becomes a challenge when dealing with other anatomical parts such as organs or soft tissues. This review explores what can be done in 3DP for surgical planning beyond bone structures, the current available technology, and clinical applications, limitations of printers and materials and ongoing research.

This article documents the development and evolution of the printing presses situated in the central core of the City of Mexico in the 17th century. In addition, the locations of the more than thirty printing presses established in the 17th century are provided, and a spatial-historical analysis is implemented, which allows for a dynamic determination of the ambience and the possible influence of the printing houses of the time. The relationships between some of the printers were derived from their proximity, but also from commercial, familiar and work-related ties; thus, each printer was directly or indirectly linked to the others. This allows for the appreciation of specific cases that have been forgotten; and reviving their memory means recreating a series of experiential relations regarding the press and the history of books in the 18th century, and their connection with Mexico City today. The intent is to delve into the printing houses, and not only into a series of descriptive referents. Although the 17th century stood out as a period of illustrious bibliophiles and notable libraries, it also shared other characteristics in relation to printing: the formation of printing dynasties which were often lead by widows, the alternation of printing and bookselling activities, the growth in the quantity of printers (many of which were short-lived) in this city and others, and the diversification of printing designs and materials.

While the electronic publishing of books and scores has become commonplace, e-publishing of scores by major music publishers has lagged-behind. Libraries and music publishers are unwilling to relinquish the print format, but the proliferation of music notation software has given rise to greater numbers of self-publishing composers, keen to sell and deliver their musical works in PDF. The Music Library at the University of Western Ontario is an anomaly, in that it acquires, catalogues, and circulates music for the Faculty of Music’s choirs and large ensembles. A faculty member’s request to participate in a large-scale commission of a new work for wind ensemble in 2011 was approved; when the work was completed, the score and parts arrived as PDFs contained in zip-files: we suddenly found ourselves in the printing business. Since 2011, we have continued to acquire music in PDF for our choirs and ensembles, eventually developing a work-flow and suggestions for best practices for dealing with these materials.

From the beginning of the Italian wars to the end of the Religious conflicts that led to the unescapable decline of Lyon as a dominant factor in the French book trade, what was the relative weight of the Italian community in the Lyonese book world? How were received Italian cultural products—whether they were due to Italian authors, to Italian booksellers, or published in Italian—, and what part played in the French-Italian exchanges some Lyonese booksellers who were part of commercial networks with Italy? Such are the three issues that are addressed here through the study of geographically based social groups such a as the Piedmont and Florentine booksellers, and of the publishing strategies of the “Lyonnais italianisants” Sébastien Gryphe, Jean de Tournes and Guillaume Rouillé.

The connection between Andalusia and Spanish chapbooks goes beyond the clear interest of the Spanish public of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in broadsides about bandits and gypsies, stories that perpetuated the topics of this region. An analysis of specialized production in this publishing genre demonstrates the leading role of Andalusia in the development of these publications. Indeed some of the printers and authors of most impact in those centuries were born in Cordoba, Cadiz or Seville. This study sketches the biographies and catalogues of these professionals of popular literature not only with the aim of offering relevant data on the publishing market in the south of Spain, but also to know the most popular titles in this product for mass consumption in Spain at that time.
