The protection of marine habitats from human-generated underwater noise is an emerging challenge. Baseline information on sound levels, however, is poorly available, especially in the Mediterranean Sea. To bridge this knowledge gap, the SOUNDSCAPE project ran a basin-scale, cross-national, long-term underwater monitoring in the Northern Adriatic Sea. A network of nine monitoring stations, characterized by different natural conditions and anthropogenic pressures, ensured acoustic data collection from March 2020 to June 2021, including the full lockdown period related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Calibrated stationary recorders featured with an omnidirectional Neptune Sonar D60 Hydrophone recorded continuously 24 h a day (48 kHz sampling rate, 16 bit resolution). Data were analysed to Sound Pressure Levels (SPLs) with a specially developed and validated processing app. Here, we release the dataset composed of 20 and 60 seconds averaged SPLs (one-third octave, base 10) output files and a Python script to postprocess them. This dataset represents a benchmark for scientists and policymakers addressing the risk of noise impacts on marine fauna in the Mediterranean Sea and worldwide.

Network management, whether for malfunction analysis, failure prediction, performance monitoring and improvement, generally involves large amounts of data from different sources. To effectively integrate and manage these sources, automatically finding semantic matches among their schemas or ontologies is crucial. Existing approaches on database matching mainly fall into two categories. One focuses on the schema-level matching based on schema properties such as field names, data types, constraints and schema structures. Network management databases contain massive tables (e.g., network products, incidents, security alert and logs) from different departments and groups with nonuniform field names and schema characteristics. It is not reliable to match them by those schema properties. The other category is based on the instance-level matching using general string similarity techniques, which are not applicable for the matching of large network management databases. In this paper, we develop a matching technique for large NEtwork MAnagement databases (NEMA) deploying instance-level matching for effective data integration and connection. We design matching metrics and scores for both numerical and non-numerical fields and propose algorithms for matching these fields. The effectiveness and efficiency of NEMA are evaluated by conducting experiments based on ground truth field pairs in large network management databases. Our measurement on large databases with 1,458 fields, each of which contains over 10 million records, reveals that the accuracies of NEMA are up to 95%. Injection and mixing of cryogenic propellants are very complex at near-critical and supercritical conditions. The concise description and the reliable measurements on such flows are still questionable. In this work, a RANS study is performed for a pure N2 fluid injection at transcritical conditions on a laboratory scale test rig. An in-depth thermodynamical analysis on the real-gas behavior has allowed N2 density prediction over the experimental range of the injection temperature and for several equations of state. A focus was thrown on the prediction of the density evolution on the chamber centerline and across the injector. The calculations were performed using both adiabatic and constant temperature conditions for the injector wall. The inner heat transfer in the injector had a significant effect on the jet density distribution and therefore, on the overall flow dynamics. Numerical results regarding axial profiles of density and dense core lengths agree fairly well with the experimental data provided by the literature.

Овај темат, који је посвећен научном раду из аспекта рода такође нам открива неке видове тог проблема. Радови који су у темату презентирани указују на неке од кључних проблема још увек постојећих родних неравноправности (овом приликом уочаваних на примеру научног рада), попут разлика у декларисаним јавним политикама и њиховом остваривању, родних стереотипа и свакодневних пракси, којима се прећутно и неосвешћено перпетуирају патријархални односи, али и стратегија (углавном личних) којима жене/научнице на њих одговарају. This discussion exhibits the major scientific errors on the recent published paper, entitled "Steady Laminar Natural Convection of Nanofluid Under the Impact of Magnetic Field on 2-D Cavity with Radiation" and their corrections indifferently. In Saleem et al. [1], the authors stated in both of abstract and problem assumptions that the non-Darcy model is used for the porous medium, while the porous terms are incompatible with this assumption. In addition, the authors used a non-inclined geometry in their investigation, but the governing equations are conflicting with this hypothesis. Further, the used range of the Darcy number is between 10?2-102 and this range is very large and did not represent the porous media flow. All of these observations make the mathematical formulations and the obtained results of Saleem et al. [1] are wrong. In the following sections, these scientific errors and their corrections will be presented minutely.

The current issue of Veterinarski Glasnik (Vol 74, No 2) is dedicated to canine Vector-borne pathogens (VBP) and Vector-borne diseases (VBD) in Serbia. All published reviews and original papers pointed out that amount of research done in Serbia and the amount of collected and analyzed data is high for the majority of topics, inviting us to summarize all the findings in a consensus statement that may be of importance for practitioners being in constant contact with dogs in Serbia and for researchers that should continue to develop this field of investigation.

Background This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a preclinical PET insert in three configurations: as a stand-alone unit outside the MRI bore, inside the bore of a cryogen-free 3T MRI and, finally, while performing simultaneous PET/MRI studies. Methods The PET insert consists of two rings of six detectors, each detector comprising 8 × 12 SiPMs reading out dual offset layers of pixelated LYSO crystals with a 1.4-mm pitch. The inner diameter is 60 mm, transaxial field of view (FoV) 40 mm and axial FoV 98 mm. Evaluation was based on NEMA NU 4-2008 guidelines with appropriate modifications. Spatial resolution and sensitivity were measured inside and outside the MR bore. Image quality, count rate and quantitative performance were measured in all three configurations. The effect of temperature stability on PET sensitivity during fast spin echo sequences was also evaluated. B0 field homogeneity and T1 and T2 relaxation times were measured using a water-filled phantom, with and without simultaneous PET operation. Finally, PET and MRI scans of a mouse injected with 10 MBq [18F]NaF and a mouse injected with 16 MBq [18F]FDG were performed in sequential and simultaneous modes. Results Peak absolute sensitivity was 10.15% with an energy window of 250–750 keV. Absolute sensitivity values outside and inside the MR bore with MR idle agreed to within 0.1%. Outside the MR bore, spatial resolution was 1.21/1.59 mm FWHM (radial/tangential) 5 mm from the centre of the FoV which compared well with 1.19/1.26 mm FWHM inside the MR bore. There were no substantial differences between all three scan configurations in terms of peak NEC rate (175 kcps at 17 MBq), scatter or random fractions. Uniformity and recovery coefficients were also consistent between scanning modes. B0 field homogeneity and T1 and T2 relaxation times were unaltered by the presence of the PET insert. No significant differences were observed between sequential and simultaneous scans of the animals. Conclusions We conclude that the performance of the PET insert and MRI system is not significantly affected by the scanning mode.

Background The purpose of this work was to propose an approach based on noise measurement to adapt present clinical acquisition and reconstruction parameters adapted to a PMT-based system (Biograph mCT) to a SiPM-based system (Biograph Vision 450) sharing identical geometrical properties. The NEMA performance (NEMA) of the recently released Biograph Vision 450 PET/CT (Vision) was also derived. Methods All measurements were conducted on Vision and Biograph mCT with TrueV (mCT). A full NEMA-based performance was derived for Vision only. The adaptation of acquisition and reconstruction parameters from mCT to Vision was done using the NEMA image quality phantom. The noise level reached using mCT was set as the reference value for six different numbers of net true coincidences. The noise level computed using Vision was matched to the reference noise level (within 0.01%) using a different reconstruction set-up to determine the potential reduction of counts numbers for the same noise level. Results Vision sensitivity was 9.1 kcps/MBq for a timing resolution of 213 ps at 5.3 kBq/mL. The NEMA-based CR for the 10mm sphere was better than 75% regardless the reconstruction set-up studied. The mCT reference noise properties could be achieved using Vision with a scan time reduction (STR) of 1.34 with four iterations and a 440×440 matrix size (or STR=1.89 with a 220×220 matrix size) together with a 3D CR improvement of 53% for the 10mm sphere (24% using 220×220). Conclusion The Vision exhibited improved NEMA performances compared to mCT. Using the proposed approach, the time acquisition could be divided by almost two, while keeping the same noise properties as that of mCT with a marked improvement of contrast recovery.

This study evaluated the performance of the Biograph Vision digital PET/CT system according to the NEMA NU 2-2012 standard (published by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association [NEMA]) to allow for a reliable, reproducible, and intersystemcomparable performance measurement. Methods: The new digital PET/CT system features silicon photomultiplier-based detectors with 3.2-mm lutetium oxyorthosilicate crystals and full coverage of the scintillator area. The PET components incorporate 8 rings of 38 detector blocks, and each block contains 4 × 2 mini blocks. Each mini block consists of a 5 × 5 lutetium oxyorthosilicate array of 3.2 × 3.2 × 20 mm crystals coupled to a silicon photomultiplier array of 16 × 16 mm, resulting in an axial field of view of 26.1 cm. In this study, PET/CT system performance was evaluated for conformation with the NEMA NU 2-2012 standard, with additional measurements described in the new NEMA NU 2-2018 standard. Spatial resolution, sensitivity, count-rate performance, accuracy of attenuation and scatter correction, image quality, coregistration accuracy, and time-of-flight performance were determined. Measurements were directly compared with results from its predecessor, the Biograph mCT Flow, using existing literature. Moreover, feasibility to comply with the European Association of Nuclear Medicine Research Ltd. (EARL) criteria was evaluated, and some illustrative patient PET images were obtained. Results: The Biograph Vision showed a transverse and axial spatial resolution of 3.6 and 3.5 mm, respectively, in full width at half maximum at a 1-cm offset from the center of the field of view (measured with a 22Na 0.25-mm point source), a NEMA sensitivity of 16.4 kcps/MBq, and a NEMA peak noise-equivalent count-rate of 306 kcps at 32 kBq/mL. Time-of-flight resolution varied from 210 to 215 as count-rate increased up to the peak noise-equivalent count-rate. The overall image contrast seen with the NEMA image quality phantom ranged from 77.2% to 89.8%. Furthermore, the system was able to comply with the current and future EARL performance criteria. Conclusion: The Biograph Vision outperforms the analog Biograph mCT Flow, and the system is able to meet European harmonizing performance standards.

Introduction/Objective. Pain, stiffness and limited mobility are the main factors that lead to difficulties in performing daily activities and are also responsible for the decline in the quality of life in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional capacity and health related quality of life (HRQoL) compared to pain in patients with knee OA, as well as to determine the correlation between these three clinical variables. Methods. The study involved 931 patients diagnosed with knee OA. In all patients, pain was evaluated by a short form of the McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ), functional status was assessed using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), while life quality was evaluated using the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36). Results. The average age of patients was 61.21 ? 4.62 years, while 71.3% of them were women. The quality of life in patients with knee OA and all pain parameters contained in the SF-MPQ were highly statistically positively associated (p ? 0.01). In addition, the physical functioning was mostly affected by emotional pain (rho = -0.585). A high statistical correlation (p ? 0.01) was noted between stiffness and physical functioning from the WOMAC questionnaire and all of the parameters from the SF-MPQ. The physical functioning from the WOMAC questionnaire had the strongest correlation with total pain incorporated into the McGill questionnaire (rho = 0.530). Conclusion. Knee pain has a significant impact on functional capacity and HRQoL in patients with knee OA. Therefore, one of the main therapy goals for OA of the knee should be to reduce the pain in the affected knee, which can help to improve the functionality and HRQoL of these patients.

High dietary sugar consumption from snack can be reduced by replacing sucrose fraction with healthier sweeteners. Potentials of African locust bean pulp (ALBP) as replacement for sucrose in biscuit production from cassava-wheat flour was evaluated. ALBP was manually extracted from the yellow fruit of African locust bean and oven-dried. Sucrose contents were replaced with ALBP at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% in biscuit formulation using standard recipe. Baked biscuit samples were evaluated for chemical (proximate composition, minerals and phytochemical) and physicochemicals (vitamin C, Carotenoids, Total sugar, Brix and pH) properties, using standard methods. [1]?s paper, where the authors investigated the performance of heat transfer in evaporator under the case that the parameters of the heat source and temperature of pinch point were identified. They utilized the graphical method of temperature-heat (T-Q) diagram analysis. Also, they utilized the entransy principle in their analysis. Commentaries show the reality that the graphical method of T-Q diagram analysis belongs to Professor Adrian Bejan, who first proposed it in 1977. In addition, many instances in the literature are given to indicate disputes for the entransy principle by oppositionists of ?entransy? from various countries.

The evaluation of the inhibition effect achieved by essential oils of dill ( Anethum graveolens L . ), oregano ( Origanum vulgare L.), juniper (Juniperus communis L.), sage ( Salvia officinalis L.) and winter savory ( Satureja montana L.) on seed germination and shoot growth of Johnson grass ( Sorghum halepense L.) was tested in laboratory. The chemical composition of essential oils was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The major constituents were carvon (40.5%) and limonene (32.2%) for A. graveolens essential oil, carvacrol (73.7%) for O. vulgare essential oil, α-pinene (43.5%) for J. communis essential oil, b-thujone (32.7%) and camphor (17.2%) for S. officinalis essential oil, thymol (44.6%) and p- cimene (13.4%) for S. montana essential oil. The in vitro study on herbicidal activity was carried out on seed germination and shoots length of S. halepense ; A. graveolens , O. vulgare , S. montana essential oils significantly inhibited the germination and shoot length and their herbicidal activity could be attributed mainly to their high content of carvone, carvacrol and thymol. A. graveolens , O. vulgare and S. montana essential oils reduced seed germination by 61.5%, 52.7% and 47.3%, respectively, while J. communis and S. officinalis essential oils stimulated germination (7.7% and 2.2%, respectively). The shoot growth reduction for almost all essential oils, except J. communis essential oil , was more than 30%. The solution of A. graveolens , O. vulgare and S. montana essential oils exhibited more powerful bio-herbicidal effect compared to J. communis and S. officinalis essential oils on the germination and shoot growth of S. halepense .

Development of sintering theory in the 20th century is outlined and placed into context of modern materials science and recent technological developments. The author looks to converge different approaches to sintering stemming from different fields of materials science and show the potential and the necessity for a single theoretical approach to sintering.

Medicinal plant extracts have a broad antimicrobial activity, including antiviral effects. In our study, eleven dry extracts of ten different medicinal plants prepared with two solvents (5%, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and 30% ethanol in 5% DMSO) in different concentrations have been examined for anti-norovirus activity. The reduction of norovirus >1 log 10 genome equivalents has been obtained with 1 mg/mL of Aronia melanocarpa leaf extract, dried wine Prokupac and Hypericum perforatum extract. Some of the observed extracts i.e. Hypericum perforatum , Aronia melanocarpa fruit extract and Punica granatum peel extract showed better activity when dissolved in 30% ethanol with 5% DMSO. Climate vulnerability is the propensity to be adversely affected by climatic variability and natural hazards. People of low-lying islands face accelerating physical and non-physical stresses due to their greater exposure, higher sensitivity, and lower adaptive capacity towards climate change. Being home to over 0.2 million people, Sagar Island, the largest Island of Sundarban, is highly susceptible to coastal erosion, cyclonic storm surges, flooding, and embankment breaching, causing loss of land, property, and livelihood that eventually lead to displacements and induced migration. Over the past two decades, residents of this fragile sinking island of this world's largest mangrove forest have seen their homes engulfed, farmlands salinized and livelihood depleted by the rising sea. This study investigates the association between socio-economic vulnerabilities through the contextual indicators of land loss, productivity loss, loss of livelihood, and induced migration through regression modeling to find out linkages and scopes of risk reduction. The result reflects a significant positive correlation between land loss and loss of livelihood (p 0.0494*) that negatively correlates with the occurrence of in-migration (z −0.826), while the correlation between productivity loss and loss of livelihood is 0.6318. Mouzas like Dhablat, Shibpur, Beguakhali show outlier characteristics due to severe rates of erosion and embankment failure. The secondary data from the India Meteorological Department, National Centre for Ocean Information Services, have been used to identify considerable changes from cumulative erosion and accretion employing statistical and GIS techniques. This bottom-up assessment can contribute to disaster management and policy implications by identifying the particular intercession at the mouza level that increases the resilience of these vulnerable communities to climate change.

Biotechnology is still relatively new and as with any new technology, it carries some level of risk. This necessitates appropriate risk assessments and appropriate risk management. One element of risk management however, is taking into account that during the production, development, transport or release of a GMO it may cause injury to person, property or the environment, regardless of risk management procedures. This calls for the existence of a liability regime that will place some legal responsibility on the party responsible for the harm. This paper assesses the South African regulatory framework of relevance to GMOs, which is composed of a fragmented set of laws that deals with risk assessment, risk management and liability for damage to the environment. It discusses the GMO Act as the principle legislation regulation GMOs and also the recent amendment thereof and also consider other legislation such as the ECA, NEMA and NEMA Biodiversity Act in an attempt to determine whether the regulatory framework addresses risk management and liability in an effective and adequate manner. It comes to the conclusion that South Africa does not as yet have a satisfactory legal regime that provides for risk management and liability in the context of GMOs.

The plights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), including hunger, rape, insecurity, and death, have assumed a frightening dimension in North-eastern Nigeria with the sustained intervention of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ameliorate their sufferings. This paper aimed to assess the response capacity of NEMA to the plights of the IDPs in North-eastern Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to examine the nature and dimensions of the plights of the IDPs in the Northeast, identify their coping strategies, and assess the impact of NEMA's response strategies on the burgeoning situation. The study used a qualitative survey research design, in which 166 key Informant Interviews (KII) were conducted. The primary designs were complemented by secondary data, which was derived from books, journal articles, and News tabloids. Data generated were descriptively analyzed. Major findings from the paper were that the Boko Haram insurgency was primarily responsible for the mass displacement of persons in North-eastern Nigeria. The IDPs are facing lots of challenges in the camps with weak coping strategies while the intervention of NEMA through the provision of relief materials, rehabilitation and resettlement programs, and linking of the displaced with family members have reduced the plights of the IDPs. However, the Agency currently has the minimal operational capacity to ameliorate the plights of the IDPs due to the protracted nature of the insurgency, legal restriction on the operational mandates of NEMA, corruption, and limited funding of the agency. The Study recommended improved funding of the Agency and enactment of IDP-specific constitutional roles for maximum impact of NEMA on the amelioration of the plights of the IDPs in North-Eastern Nigeria., Plights; Displacement; Intervention; NEMA.

Despite the rising number of casualties in armed conflicts worldwide, there is still relentless support for international peace missions, which invariably involve medical personnel, by both United Nations (UN) and other international organisations. Against the background of recent events, UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution and widespread practice of peace missions, this article will try to provide a brief overview of international legal framework relevant for medical and humanitarian personnel covering both the status of domestic medical personnel and that of international missions in warfare and for peace operations.

Тема прве свеске Гласника Етнографског института САНУ за 2018. годину нуди поглед уназад на личности, установе и теоријско-методолошке правце у српској етнологији (и антропологији). „Историјске ретроспективе етнологије и антропологије“ представљају групу научних радова који дају нове доприносе критичким интерпретацијама дисциплинарне прошлости у нас. Разматрања етноантрополошке историје су последњих година све бројнија у Србији и суседним земљама, и овај темат употпуњује овај успешан низ студија, настојећи да додатно осветли развој етнологије у 20. веку на овдашњем простору. Већина радова у овом темату настала је као резултат излагања на међународној научној конференцији „Ретроспективе и перспективе етнологије и антропологије“ (Сирогојно, 8. до 10. септембар 2017. године) којом је обележена седамдесета годишњица оснивања Етнографског института САНУ.
