The scientific and editorial programming orientation of the scientific journal INFORMATOLOGIA (1969. – 2019.) was based on the historical, present and future promotion of information and communication sciences, publishing of selected scien-tific and professional papers by renowned internationally recognized information and communication scientists, who have earned their scientific achievements on an ongoing basis place on the pages of the reputable magazine INFORMATOLOGIA. The editorial and programmatic orientation of the scientific journal Informatologia (1969. – 2019.) was based on, numerous scientific and professional critical editorial dilemmas, analyzing, valorizing and selecting quality scientific information and communication production for publication in the journal Informatologia. In a strategic journalistic sense, the editorial board members respected high scientific standards, peer-reviewed expert opinion, and affirmed selection based on critical awareness and ethical editorial principles in the selection of copyrighted productions for the publication of scientific and professional papers., Znanstvena i urednička programska orijentacija znanstvenog časopisa INFORMATOLOGIA (1969. - 2019.) temeljila se na povijesnoj, sadašnjoj i budućoj promociji informacijskih i komunikacijskih znanosti, objavljivanju odabranih znanstvenih i stručnih radova poznatih međunarodno priznatih znanstvenika iz područja informacijskih i komunikacijskih znanosti, koji su kontinuirano objavljivali svoja znanstvena dostignuća na stranicama uglednog časopisa INFORMATOLOGIA. Redakcijsko-programska orijentacija znanstvenog časopisa Informatologia (1969. - 2019.) temeljila se na brojnim znanstvenim i stručnim kritičkim uredničkim dilemama, analiziranju, vrednovanju i odabiru kvalitetne znanstvene informacije i komunikacijske produkcije za objavljivanje u časopisu Informatologia. U strateškom publicističkom smislu članovi uredništva poštovali su visoke znanstvene standarde, recenzirali kroz stručno mišljenje i potvrdili izbor utemeljen na kritičkoj svijesti i etičkim uređivačkim principima.

This qualitative case study considered the relationship between a Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter at a public state university in Northern California and its local Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) affiliate chapter. Its purpose was to explore student perceptions of the contributions of this relationship to what they learned about leadership while serving as club officers. Research was conducted during the fall semester 2010. The study explored efforts designed to help PRSSA chapter officers fulfill individual responsibilities. Local and national PRSA representatives provided advice and counsel through diverse channels, the intent of which was to help PRSSA chapter officers meet the challenges of their respective roles. These industry professionals in turn observed leadership development in the students included in this study. The study also probed student views on leadership related to their PRSSA chapter officer experience. The officers who participated in the study adopted a leadership purpose grounded in advising and guiding fellow students who aspired to enter the public relations profession. Learning about what public relations people do, the different environments in which they work, making contacts, and identifying internship and job opportunities was deemed fundamental for fulfilling this purpose. Chapter officers thus participated in national PRSSA events and activities sponsored by their local PRSA affiliate chapter, and also planned and promoted programs to build a necessary base of knowledge and experience to fulfill their responsibilities. This study added to the body of knowledge on leadership development in undergraduate public relations students, a topic that had received minimal attention in previous research. In basing results upon data collected through qualitative research methods, moreover, this study began to fill the void in empirical data on student perceptions of the PRSSA experience. Finally, this study added to the understanding of how PRSA and PRSSA undertake leadership development of future practitioners.

This study examined what consumer-publics expect from companies’ CSR communications through surveying a representative sample of the general public. Our findings suggested that publics wanted to know “who is benefiting” from the companies’ CSR more than any other CSR information. CSR beneficiaries were identified as the most preferred communication sources, whereas CEOs and public relations spokespersons were listed as the least preferred sources. In general, non-corporate sources were preferred significantly more than corporate sources. However, the company itself was also preferred as a communication source significantly more than activists, other stakeholders, employees, CEOs, and PR spokespersons. Finally, as CSR communication channels, consumer publics tended to prefer company-controlled media such as companies’ local stores, websites, and promotion events to uncontrolled media such as news media, experts’ blogs and microblogs.

Internal communication is rising in prominence and resources due to generational shifts as Baby Boomers retire and Millennials enter the workforce. Through 32 interviews with executives in marketing, public relations and human resources, this study identifies some of the communication challenges and opportunities presented for internal communicators. These issues are explored based on theories of organization power and encroachment, stakeholder theory and organizational identity. Some of the major trends include the emergence of internal social media channels and efforts to drive and measure employee engagement. The findings suggest that public relations tends to lead internal communications initiatives in close collaboration with human resources and executive leadership. This study also identifies differing organizational structural relationships for internal communication and their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, the findings provide support that internal communication is becoming a strategic function and is shifting from one-way to three-way communication.
