CD47, a transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on the cell surface, is one of the important checkpoints through which cells escape innate immune surveillance. The important role of CD47-related signaling pathway and changes in expression level in immune regulation, pathogen infection and anti-tumor immunity has gradually come to be recognized. We reviewed herein the structure and biological characteristics of CD47, the interaction and the downstream signaling of CD47 with integrin, thrombospondin 1, and signal regulatory protein, and the upregulated expression of CD47 induced by the infection of different pathogens and the role of CD47 in different types of immune response to infection. Discussions were made regarding the prospective application of CD47 targeted immunotherapy in pathogenic infection-related cancers, intending to provide guidance for future research.

Background We aimed to evaluate the prediction values of non-invasive models for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development in patients with HBV-related liver cirrhosis (LC) and long-term NA treatment. Methods Patients with compensated or decompensated cirrhosis (DC), who achieved long-term virological response, were enrolled. DC and its stages were defined by the complications including ascites, encephalopathy, variceal bleeding, or renal failure. Prediction accuracy of several risk scores, including ALBI, CAMD, PAGE-B, mPAGE-B and aMAP, was compared. Results The median follow-up duration was 37 (28–66) months. Among the 229 patients, 9 (9.57%) patients in the compensated LC group and 39 (28.89%) patients in the DC group developed HCC. The incidence of HCC was higher in the DC group ($\cal X$2 = 12.478, P < 0.01). The AUROC of ALBI, aMAP, CAMD, PAGE-B and mPAGE-B scores were 0.512, 0.667, 0.638, 0.663, 0.679, respectively. There was no significant difference in AUROC between CAMD, aMAP, PAGE-B and mPAGE-B (all P > 0.05). Univariable analysis showed that age, DC status and platelet were associated with HCC development, and multivariable analysis showed that age and DC status (both P < 0.01) were independent risk factors for HCC development, then Model (Age_DC) was developed and its AUROC was 0.718. Another model, Model (Age_DC_PLT_TBil) consisting of age, DC stage, PLT, TBil was also developed, and its AUROC was larger than that of Model (Age_DC) (0.760 vs. 0.718). Moreover, AUROC of Model (Age_DC_PLT_TBil) was larger than the other five models (all P < 0.05). With an optimal cut-off value of 0.236, Model (Age_DC_PLT_TBil) achieved 70.83% sensitivity, 76.24% specificity. Conclusion There is a lack of non-invasive risk scores for HCC development in HBV-related DC, and a new model consisting of age, DC stage, PLT, TBil may be an alternative.

AIM: To investigate potential gene changes in trabecular meshwork (TM) induced by dexamethasone (DEX) in steroid-induced glaucoma (SIG). METHODS: The expression data of 24 cases from a public functional genomics data were sorted to identify the mechanisms of action of DEX on the TM. The relationships of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were enriched using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis. In addition, the hub genes were screened by the Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes Database (STRING) and Cytoscape tools. Finally, human TM cells (HTMCs) were treated with DEX to preliminarily explore the function of hub genes. RESULTS: Totally 47 DEGs, including 21 downregulated and 26 upregulated genes were identified. The primary enriched results of the DEGs consisted of inflammatory response, extracellular matrix (ECM), negative regulation of cell proliferation, TNF signalling pathway and the regulation of tryptophan channels by inflammatory mediators. Subsequently, pro-melanin-enriched hormone (PMCH) and Bradykinin B1 receptor (BDKRB1) were screened as hub genes. It is verified in GSE37474 data set. Western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) results showed that protein and RNA expression levels of BDKRB1 were significantly decreased after DEX treatment, while PMCH was not significantly changed. CONCLUSION: BDKRB1 may be a key gene involved in SIG onset, providing a suitable therapeutic target for improving the prognosis of SIG patients.

Due to the change in life style and the gradual rise of health awareness, more and more people have given up their jobs, returned to the countryside, and bought or rented a small piece of land to live the life of small farmers. Therefore, small agricultural machinery will gradually have a place in the future market. In this paper, aiming at small and medium-sized farmers of cucumber planting, we have designed a prototype of a mobile robot for harvesting low-hanging crop like cucumbers. It is based on the NI roboRIO controller, and Mecanum-wheels are used as the moving wheel. After preliminary real-machine simulation, it was verified that the designed robot can meet the needs of assisting the harvesting of hanging crops.

The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of drug-resistant HBV mutants in patients with treatment failure during the past seven years (2010–2016). 4055 HBV-infected patients who underwent HBV polymerase gene mutation test from 2010 to 2016 were enrolled. The nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) resistance mutation positions, including rtL180, rtA181, rtT184, rtS202, rtM204, rtI233, rtN236, rtI169, rtV173, and rtM250 were analyzed. Genotypic resistance mutations were detected in 30.8% (1248/4055) of the patients with treatment failure. Rates of drug-resistant mutations associated with LAM, ADV, ETV, and multidrug were 27.23% (1104/4055), 9.67% (392/4055), 3.69% (150/4055), and 0.79% (32/4055). Among the primary NA-resistant mutations, rtM204I (13.44%, 545/4055) occurred more frequently, followed by rtM204V, rtN236T, rtA181T, and rtA181V. For single-base mutations, rtL180M and rtA181V increased gradually during the past seven years, while rtM204I/V and rtN236T decreased after 2015. The development of drug-resistant mutations positively correlated with the consumption of ETV (r = 0.964, P = 0.002), and weakly correlated with that of LAM (r = 0.679, P = 0.109) and ADV (r = 0.429, P = 0.354). Moreover, single-base mutation rtA181V and multi-base mutations (rtL180M + M204I and rtL180M + M204V + M204I) were more common in HBV genotype C than those in genotype B (1.94% vs. 0.66%, 1.84% vs. 0.16%, 1.02% vs. 0.16%, respectively). NA-related mutations in HBV RT region increased in the past seven years, especially for LAM. Frequencies of rtL180M and rtA181T/V increased gradually in the past seven years, to which we should pay more attention.

A lens design method based on prescribed candela distribution is presented. By using this method, an LED lens of arbitrary beam angle can be obtained with uniformity greater than 0.8 and optical efficiency above 90%.

To study the overweight and obesity situation among Mongolian ethnic children and adolescents in the last 25 years and to provide a basis on related prevention and control measures.A cross-sectional study was used, with 18 366 aged 7 to 18 Mongolian ethnic children and adolescents involved. Surveys on their physical health, in 1985, 2000 and 2010 were carried out. Comparison on the mean of BMI and the prevalence rates of overweight and obesity in different years, genders, location of residence (urban or rural) was also made.Over the past 25 years, among the aged 7 to 18 Mongolian ethnic children and adolescents, the overall trend on their means of BMI was increasing. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity in Mongolian ethnic children and adolescents were 2.1%, 0.5% in 1985, and 6.3%, 2.4% in 2000, with an increase of 2 to 4 times during the last 15 years. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were substantially increasing in the year 2010, to have reached 9.1% and 6.6%, which were 4 to 12 times of the figures in 1985. The detection rates of overweight and obesity in urban boys were 1.2%, 0 in 1985, 7.9%, 3.4% in 2000 and 11.0%, 11.8% in 2010. However, the rate of obesity in the rural boys were 0.6% and 0.6% in 1985, 2.8%, 2.1% in 2000 and 9.0%, 3.4% in 2010. In 1985 the rates of overweight and obesity in urban girls were 1.8%, 0.3%, 8.1%, 4.3% in 2000 and 9.4%, 8.4% in 2010. However, among the rural girls, the prevalence rates of overweight and obesity prevalence was 8.8%, 2.2% in 1985, 4.5%, 0.9%, in 2000 and 10.2%, 4.5% in 2010. The rates of overweight and obesity among groups in different years showed significant differences (P0.05).Over the past 25 years, the prevalence rates on overweight and obesity increased significantly in Mongolian ethnic children and adolescents, and continued to rise, which called for reasonable and effective measures to be taken to prevent and control the occurrence of the problem.

We present a freeform lens for application to LED uniform illumination. This lens, which is designed with a method of simple source-target luminous intensity mapping, can produce irradiance uniformity of greater than 0.8 and optical efficiency above 90% with an arbitrary half-beam angle greater than 45 deg. Typically, as compared with a conventional source-target energy mapping method, this design method can achieve better optical performance of lenses for general LED lighting. When a non-Lambertian-type light source is employed, for example, the chip on board LED, the use of the method can result in a compact LED lens without losing the optical performances of high irradiance uniformity and high optical efficiency as yielded by lenses for Lambertian-type LED light sources.
