This paper presents an integrated approach for on-demand Dynamic Capacity Management (DCM) service to be offered in U-space. The approach involves three main threads, including flight planning (demand), airspace configuration (capacity) and demand-capacity balancing (DCB). The flight planning thread produces UAS (unmanned aerial systems) trajectories for each flight that together reflect the estimated traffic demand. The airspace configuration thread defines the fundamental airspace structure and proposes dynamic adjustment schemes that determine the capacity distribution. It also enables the flight planning to reschedule alternative trajectory options to route away from possible congested areas. The last DCB thread takes the previous inputs and then computes for the optimal slot allocation and trajectory selection, as well as the optimal airspace configuration. Simulation case studies have been performed through mimicking an envisioned U-space operating scenario. Results suggest that the integrated approach can achieve the best outcome in almost all the key performance areas than any other cases where only partial functions are realised.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been extensively studied as a potential storage material for batteries. However, the electrochemical performance of MoS2 is far from ideal, and it exhibits severe activity fading resulting from its low electronic conductivity. The present work synthesizes nitrogen (N)-doped 1T MoS2 nanoflowers made of ultrathin nanosheets via the one-step hydrothermal sulfurization of a molybdenum-based metal-organic framework precursor. The resulting metallic phase shows improved conductivity and hydrophilicity, and characterization demonstrates that N doping effectively expands the interlayer spacing and increases the concentration of sulfur vacancies serving as defects. This material demonstrates high rate performance and good cycling stability when used as the cathode in an aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion battery (ARZIB). Its performance is superior to those of pure 1T MoS2 and 2H MoS2 synthesized with MoO3 as the molybdenum source. Ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses are performed to explore the reaction mechanism during charging and discharging of the N-doped 1T MoS2. A three-cell series ARZIB system containing this material is used to power five light-emitting diodes to confirm the possible practical applications of this technology.

CONTEXTE: Les patients sous dialyse a long terme pourraient avoir un risque accru d’infection par le coronavirus du syndrome respiratoire aigu severe 2 (SRAS-CoV-2), et de maladie et de mortalite associees. Nous avons voulu decrire l’incidence, les facteurs de risque et les issues de l’infection chez ces patients en Ontario (Canada). METHODES: Nous avons utilise des ensembles de donnees reliees pour comparer les caracteristiques de la maladie et la mortalite chez les patients sous dialyse a long terme en Ontario qui ont teste positif pour le SRAS-CoV-2 et ceux qui n’ont pas developpe d’infection, entre le 12 mars et le 20 aout 2020. Nous avons recueilli des donnees sur l’infection par le SRAS-CoV-2 de maniere prospective. Nous avons evalue les facteurs de risque d’infection et de mortalite par des analyses de regression logistique multivariees. RESULTATS: Pendant la periode a l’etude, 187 patients dialyses sur 12 501 (1,5 %) ont recu un diagnostic d’infection par le SRAS-CoV-2. Parmi eux, 117 (62,6 %) ont ete hospitalises, et le taux de mortalite etait de 28,3 %. Les facteurs predictifs significatifs associes a l’infection incluaient l’hemodialyse dans un centre plutot que la dialyse a domicile (rapport de cotes [RC] 2,54; intervalle de confiance [IC] a 95 % 1,59–4,05), le fait de vivre dans un etablissement de soins de longue duree (RC 7,67; IC a 95 % 5,30–11,11), le fait d’habiter la region du Grand Toronto (RC 3,27; IC a 95 % 2,21–4,80), les ethnicites Noire (RC 3,05; IC a 95 % 1,95–4,77), du sous-continent indien (RC 1,70; IC a 95 % 1,02–2,81) et autres non blanches (RC 2,03; IC a 95 % 1,38–2,97) et les quintiles de revenu inferieurs (RC 1,82; IC a 95 % 1,15–2,89). INTERPRETATION: Les patients sous dialyse a long terme sont exposes a un risque accru d’infection par le SRAS-CoV-2 et de mortalite due a la maladie a coronavirus 2019. Il faudra travailler a eliminer les facteurs de risque d’infection et vacciner ces patients en priorite.

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) function as molecular chaperones and are key components responsible for protein folding, assembly, translocation, and degradation under stress conditions. However, little is known about how HSPs stabilize proteins and membranes in response to different hormonal or environmental cues in plants. Here, we combined molecular, biochemical, and genetic approaches to elucidate the involvement of cytosolic HSP70-3 in plant stress responses and the interplay between HSP70-3 and plasma membrane (PM)-localized phospholipase Dδ (PLDδ) in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Analysis using pull-down, coimmunoprecipitation, and bimolecular fluorescence complementation revealed that HSP70-3 specifically interacted with PLDδ. HSP70-3 bound to microtubules, such that it stabilized cortical microtubules upon heat stress. We also showed that heat shock induced recruitment of HSP70-3 to the PM, where HSP70-3 inhibited PLDδ activity to mediate microtubule reorganization, phospholipid metabolism, and plant thermotolerance, and this process depended on the HSP70-3–PLDδ interaction. Our results suggest a model whereby the interplay between HSP70-3 and PLDδ facilitates the re-establishment of cellular homeostasis during plant responses to external stresses and reveal a regulatory mechanism in regulating membrane lipid metabolism.

AimWe performed a comparative study to investigate the efficacy of closed system transfer devices (CSTDs) on the safe handling of injectable hazardous drugs (HDs).MethodsThe exposure assessments of cyclophosphamide and cytarabine were performed under traditional or CSTDs. For preparation activity, chemotherapy contamination samples on protective equipment (such as gloves and masks) were collected. The contamination analysis was performed by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). A 6-item form was distributed monthly (form M1–M6, total 6 months) to assess the pharmacists' experience on ergonomics, encumbrance, and safety impression.ResultsTotally, 96 wiping samples were collected throughout the study. The numbers of contaminated cyclophosphamide samples reduced under CSTD were −37.8, −41.6, −67.7, −47.3, and −22.9% and cytarabine were −12.3, −12.1, −20.6, −69.6, and −56.7% for left countertop, right countertop, medial glass, air-intake vent and door handle, as compared to traditional devices. The reduction was similar to pharmacist devices, i.e., −48.2 and −50.0% for masks and gloves cyclophosphamide contamination, −18.0 and −42.4% for cytarabine. This novel system could improve contamination on dispensing table, transfer container, and dispensing basket by −16.6, −6.0, and −22.3% for cyclophosphamide and −28.5, −22.5, and −46.2% for cytarabine. A high level of satisfaction was consistently associated with ergonomics for CSTD during the compounding process. Meanwhile, a slightly decreased satisfaction on ergonomics, encumbrance, and safety impression was observed for the traditional system between M2 and M3.ConclusionClosed system transfer devices are offering progressively more effective alternatives to traditional ones and consequently decrease chemotherapy exposure risk on isolator surfaces.

The all-inorganic CsPb(IxBr1-x)3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attractive by virtue of their high environmental and thermal stability. Ascites is a typical symptom of liver cirrhosis that is caused by a variety of liver diseases. Ascites severely affects the life quality of patients and needs long-term treatment. 25a is a specific urea transporter inhibitor with a diuretic effect that does not disturb the electrolyte balance. In this study, we aimed to determine the therapeutic effect of 25a on ascites with a dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced cirrhotic rat model. It was found that 100 mg/kg of 25a significantly increased the daily urine output by 60% to 97% and reduced the daily abdominal circumference change by 220% to 260% in cirrhotic rats with a water intake limitation. The 25a treatment kept the serum electrolyte levels within normal ranges in cirrhotic rats. The H&E and Masson staining of liver tissue showed that 25a did not change the cirrhotic degree. A serum biochemical examination showed that 25a did not improve the liver function in cirrhotic rats. A Western blot analysis showed that 25a did not change the expression of fibrosis-related marker protein α-SMA, but significantly decreased the expressions of type I collagen in the liver of cirrhotic rats, indicating that 25a did not reverse cirrhosis, but could slow the cirrhotic progression. These data indicated that 25a significantly reduced ascites via diuresis without an electrolyte imbalance in cirrhotic rats. Our study provides a proof of concept that urea transporter inhibitors might be developed as novel diuretics to treat cirrhotic ascites.

Background Severely ill people with COVID-19 are at risk of acute kidney injury treated with renal replacement therapy (AKI-RRT). Understanding of risk factors and outcomes for AKI-RRT is incomplete. Methods We prospectively collected data on the incidence, demographics, area of residence, time course, outcomes, and associated risk factors for all COVID-19 AKI-RRT cases during the first 2 waves of the pandemic in Ontario, Canada Results There were 271 people with AKI-RRT, representing 0.1% of all diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 cases. These included 10% of SARS-CoV-2 admissions to intensive care units (ICU). Median age was 65 years, with 11% under 50, 76% were male, 47% non-white, and 48% had diabetes. Overall, 59% resided in the quintile of Ontario neighborhoods with the greatest ethnocultural composition and 51% in the 2 lowest income quintile neighborhoods. Mortality was 58% at 30 days after RRT initiation, and 64% at 90 days. By 90 days, 20% of survivors remained RRT-dependent and 31% were still hospitalized. On multivariable analysis, people aged over 70 had higher mortality (odds ratio (OR) 2.4, 95% CI: 1.3, 4.6). Cases from the second versus the first COVID-19 wave were older, had more baseline co-morbidity, and were more likely to initiate RRT over 2 weeks after SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis (34% vs 14%, p, Graphical Abstract Graphical Abstract

We present a facile and effective method for fabrication of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) optical fiber sensor assisted by two polydopamine (PDA) layers with enhanced plasmonic sensing performance. The first PDA layer was self-polymerized onto the bare optical fiber to provide the catechol groups for the reduction from Ag+ to Ago through chelating and redox activity. As the reduction of Ag+ proceeds, Ag nanoparticles (NPs) were grown in-situ on the PDA layer with uniform distribution. The second PDA layer was applied to prevent Ag NPs from oxidating and achieve an improvement of LSPR signal. The PDA/Ag/PDA-based optical fiber sensor has an enhanced LSPR sensitivity of 961 nm/RIU and excellent oxidation resistance. The stable PDA/Ag/PDA-based LSPR sensor with high optical performance is very promising for future application in optical sensing field.

Spatiotemporal regulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is fine-tuned at multiple levels, including transcriptional regulation. Arabidopsis copper amine oxidase ζ (CuAOζ) is localized in peroxisomes, and the CuAOζ-derived ROS is required for indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)-induced lateral root (LR) development. Here, we showed that both GATA2 and NIGT1.2 transcription factors interacted with the 5′ untranslated region (5′ UTR) of CuAOζ, using enhanced yeast one-hybrid analysis. NIGT1.2 was highly expressed in root tips and was upregulated by IBA. Phenotypic analysis, localization, and genetic studies demonstrate that NIGT1.2 positively regulated IBA-induced CuAOζ expression, ROS generation, and LR development. Furthermore, another transcription factor, UPBEAT1 (UPB1), regulated the basal expression of CuAOζ in roots, suggesting a putative functional regulation of CuAOζ in cellular proliferation and differentiation in the root. Together, our findings indicate that transcriptional regulation of peroxisomal CuAOζ plays an important role in determining CuAOζ spatiotemporal activity and ROS homeostasis within a developing root.

This work reports a new approach for the synthesis of a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) composite. It employs the direct growth of the crystalline ZIF-8 on a mixed-metal oxide support TiO2 -SiO2(TSO), which mimics the porous structure of Populus nigra. Using the natural leaf as a template, the TSO support was prepared using a sol-gel method. The growth of the ZIF-8 layer on the TSO support was carried out by the seeds and second growth method. This method facilitates the homogeneous dispersion of ZIF-8 crystals at the surface of the TSO composite. The ZIF-8@TSO composite adsorbs methanol selectively, mainly due to the hierarchical porous structure of the mixed oxide support. As compared with the as-synthesized ZIF-8, a 50% methanol uptake is achieved in the ZIF-8@TSO composite, with only 25 wt % ZIF-8 loading. LAST simulations show that the ZIF-8@TSO composite has a preferential adsorption toward methanol when using an equimolar methanol-ethanol mixture. An opposite behavior is observed for the as-synthesized ZIF-8. The results show that combining MOFs and mixed-oxide supports with bioinspired structures opens opportunities for synthesizing new materials with unique and enhanced adsorption and separation properties.

Graphene-based materials have potential applications in supercapacitors, owing to their unique two-dimensional structure, high surface area, remarkable chemical stability, and outstanding electrical conductivity. In this work, Hummers method was used to prepare graphene oxide, and then in situ electrochemical method was firstly used to deposit graphene nanosheets on Co/CoO core-shell nano-structure to form a sandwich-type of Co/CoO/graphene electrode materials. The effect of electro-deposition graphene cycles on the electrochemical properties of Co/CoO/graphene composite were investigated. The results showed that the coating of graphene on Co/CoO further enhanced the conductivity of the material, and the specific capacitance reached 7.765 F cm−2 at the current density of 1 mA cm−2. The Co/CoO/graphene and AC were assembled into an asymmetric supercapacitor. After 10000 charge/discharge cycles, the total capacitance of the asymmetric supercapacitor was still maintained 79.9%. The coating of graphene not only increased the conductivity of the material, but also increased the stable of structure.

Highly homogeneous, well dispersed SiO2@Au@TiO2 (SAT) microspheres decorated with Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) were prepared and incorporated into the photoanode with an optimized concentration gradient-ascent. The effects of SAT microspheres and the gradient-ascent architecture on the light absorption and the photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were investigated. Studies indicate that the introduction of SAT microspheres and the gradient-ascent architecture in the photoanode significantly enhance the light scattering and harvesting capability of the photoanode. The DSSC with the optimized SAT gradient-ascent photoanode has the maximum short circuit current density (Jsc) of 17.7 mA cm−2 and PCE of 7.75%, remarkably higher than those of the conventional DSSC by 23.7% and 28.0%, respectively. This significantly enhancement of the performance of the DSSC can be attributed to the excellent light reflection/scattering of SAT, the localized surface plasma resonance (LSPR) effect of AuNPs within the microspheres, and the gradient-ascent architecture of SAT microspheres inside the photoanode. This study demonstrates that the tri-synergies of the scattering of SAT microspheres, the LSPR of AuNPs and the gradient-ascent architecture can effectively improve the PCE of DSSC.

A low-temperature carbon electrode with good perovskite compatibility is employed in hole-transport-material free perovskite solar cells, and a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.7% is obtained. The PCE is enhanced to 14.55% by an interface modification of PEDOT:PSS. The application of this carbon on ITO/PEN substrates is also demonstrated.

It is a highly desirable but still a challenging task to find a simple, fast and straightforward method to greatly improve the electrochemical properties of a Co3O4 electrode for pseudocapacitors. In this study, we demonstrate that developing an amorphous Co–phosphate (Co–Pi) shell via in situ surface derivatization on a Co3O4 nanowire (NW) surface facilitates the diffusion and reaction of electrolyte ions and leads to distinctive conductivity. Because of these advantages, 1D nanostructures and the synergistic effect between Co3O4 and amorphous Co–Pi, the resulting core–shell Co3O4@Co–Pi nanowire (NW) array exhibits high capacitance (1692 F g−1 at current density of 1 A g−1). In addition, high rate capabilities and retention capacity of 86% after 6000 cycles at 20 A g−1 are achieved. By using the Co3O4@Co–Pi core–shell hybrid NW array and activated carbon as the anode and cathode, respectively, asymmetric pseudocapacitors are assembled that exhibit high capacitance (energy density of 35.69 W h kg−1 at power density of 558 W kg−1) and super-long cycle life (82% capacitance retention after 40 000 cycles). Our synthesis method provides a new technology for the design of composites of transition metal oxides/hydroxides and phosphates for electrochemical energy storage applications.

In this work, we report on the use of hydrothermal and hydrogenation processes to synthesize oxygen-deficient NiMoO4 nanoflake arrays (OD-NF) and nanowire arrays (OD-NW) for electrode applications. The introduction of oxygen vacancies into NiMoO4 increased the interlayer spacing of the crystal structure and Mo6+ in NiMoO4 was partially reduced to Mo4+. In addition to increasing the conductivity, the oxygen vacancies also promoted charge storage kinetics, while retaining the crystal structure of NiMoO4. The oxygen vacancies considerably influenced the capacitive performance of NiMoO4. Notably, OD-NF showed better electrochemical performance than that of OD-NW. Furthermore, our asymmetric supercapacitor device composed of NiMoO4 OD-NF and active carbon achieved 49.1 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 800 W kg−1 and retained a remarkable 94.2% specific capacitance after 6000 cycles.

The state-of-the-art perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with SnO

Defects caused by the structural disorder of perovskites and voltage loss resulting from mismatched band structure are important issues to address to improve the performance of carbon-based perovskite solar cells. Different from the conventional approaches of additive-based passivation of perovskite precursors and introducing a hole-transport layer between the perovskite layer and carbon electrode, herein we report a defect-healing method using phenethyl ammonium iodide (PEAI) treatment and band-structure modification using high-work-function inorganic copper phthalocyanine (CuPc). Because of its relatively smoother surfaces and lower defect content, the optimized device after PEAI-based passivation of the perovskite achieves a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.74%. The PCE is further raised to 13.41% through the auxiliary energy-level matching and high hole extraction abilities of the CuPc-modified carbon electrode. The best-performing device exhibits excellent moisture tolerance and thermal stability with minor current density–voltage hysteresis.

This paper studies resilient event-triggered H ∞ control for switched linear systems under periodic denial of service (DoS) attacks. The resilient event-triggering strategy is used to suppress the influence of DoS attacks and increase the utilization of system resources. Instead of using piecewise functions, a united expression is developed to incorporate different system structures inducing by DoS attacks into one form. Then, by the piecewise Lyapunov functional and average dwell time method, sufficient conditions are derived for guaranteeing the global exponential stability with an H ∞ , performance level of the resilient event-triggered switched closed-loop system. Subsequently, a sufficient criterion is given for designing the resilient event-triggering parameters and H ∞ state feedback controllers in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). At last, a numerical simulation is provided to demonstrate the feasibility of proposed results.

This paper studies the decentralized event-triggered ${{\mathcal{H}}_\infty }$ control for networked switched systems subject to stochastic cyber attacks and actuator failures. First, since the system state is divided into multiple communication channels, decentralized states are sampled and triggered, respectively. A set of decentralized event-triggering mechanisms (DETMs) is introduced to determine whether the sampled data is released. Subsequently, a data buffer merges the released data from decentralized triggering mechanisms. Stochastic cyber attacks and actuator failures are taken into account for a more practical situation. By using a delay system analysis approach, a time-delay closed-loop switched system is derived. Then, sufficient conditions are provided to guarantee ${{\mathcal{H}}_\infty }$ performance of switched system by utilizing piecewise Lyapunov functional method and average dwell time technique. Moreover, sufficient conditions for designing event-triggered state feedback controllers and event-triggering parameters are given. Finally, a numerical simulation is shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Zippers are common in a wide variety of objects that we use daily. This work investigates how we can take advantage of such common daily activities to support seamless interaction with technology. We look beyond simple zipper-sliding interactions explored previously to determine how to weave foreground and background interactions into a vocabulary of natural usage patterns. We begin by conducting two user studies to understand how people typically interact with zippers. The findings identify several opportunities for zipper input and sensing, which inform the design of Zippro, a self-contained prototype zipper slider, which we evaluate with a standard jacket zipper. We conclude by demonstrating several applications that make use of the identified foreground and background input methods.

This article concerns dual-terminal event-triggered communication and decentralized control of switched systems that are the target of cyber attacks. Due to different properties of physical system, this system uses decentralized communication channels to transmit feedback data. In order to make efficient use of communication resources in each channel, the information sent by the sub-system needs to meet the given event-triggering conditions before it can be released. Moreover, the quantization is employed in both sides of the controller to further improve the data transmission efficiency. Then, considering that the triggered and quantified data are affected by dual-terminal cyber attacks, the event-triggered closed-loop switched (CLS) systems under attacks are derived. Furthermore, by utilizing average dwell time (ADT) technique and piecewise Lyapunov function (LF) method, sufficient conditions are given to ensure that the event-triggered CLS systems subject to dual-terminal cyber attacks are globally exponentially stable (GES). Accordingly, the design conditions for the gains of event-triggered dynamic output feedback (DOF) controllers and the parameters of decentralized event-triggering mechanisms (DETMs) are presented. Finally, simulations for verifying the system stability with and without cyber attacks are given.

Transition metal oxides as the electrode material of supercapacitors have been widely studied due to their high energy density. However, relatively low power density resulting from poor conductivity of the metal oxides limits their application. In this paper, a new N-doped NiCoO2 nanosheet array on Ni foam was synthesized through an ammonia-induced reduction strategy. During the ventilation of NH3 in the ammonia annealing stage, N was doped into the structure of NiCoO2, which leads to increased concentration of oxygen vacancies and improved conductivity. As a positive electrode, N-doped NiCoO2 exhibits excellent rate performance (1449.3 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 and 1190.4 F g−1 at 50 A g−1) and impressive cycle stability (the capacitance retention ratio is 92% after 5000 cycles at the current density of 40 A g−1) compared to undoped NiCoO2 nanosheet array electrode. Assembling it as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, the aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits high power density, energy density, and excellent rate performance. The remarkable energy storage performances make N-doped NiCoO2 nanosheet arrays material (N-NiCoO2) have a broad application prospect in the field of supercapacitors.

It remains a challenge to develop simple and mild strategies for synthesizing various Co(OH)2 nanostructures on substrates. Inspired by semipermeable membranes, a Celgard membrane was used as an interface for separating components of the precursor solution and for ion exchange, to construct hierarchical Co(OH)2 nanostructures. In contrast to traditional solvothermal reactions, this Celgard membrane-based method is simple and effective for preparing high-loading Co(OH)2 array (density of approximately 7 mg cm−2) on Ni foam. The permeability of the Celgard membrane was affected by the presence of an organic solvent. The morphology of Co(OH)2 could be adjusted by controlling the OH− diffusion rate across the Celgard membrane. OH− was formed via the hydrolysis of urea solution. The optimized Co(OH)2 nanosheet electrode exhibited a specific capacitance of 2406 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, and good cycling stability (89.1% capacitance retention after 5000 cycles) in 2 M aqueous KOH aqueous solution, using a typical three-electrode cell. An asymmetric supercapacitor was assembled with a Co(OH)2 nanosheet array as the positive electrode, and activated carbon as the negative electrode. The asymmetric supercapacitor exhibited a high energy density (39.2 W h kg−1), high power density (9.2 kW kg−1 at 28.9 W h kg−1), and excellent cycling stability (84.2% capacitance retention after 10,000 cycles).

Herein, gas bubbles generated in situ from precursors assist the rapid construction of hollow sycamore fruit-like CoMoO4 spheres (HSCSs). This bubble-assisted fabrication strategy is easy to operate, ultra-fast, low cost and post-treatment-free, showing great potential for the large-scale production of HSCSs. The growth mechanism of HSCSs is discussed to reveal the evolution process, which may be generalized to the construction of a series of hollow ternary Mo-based oxides. The obtained HSCSs exhibit a superior specific capacitance and outstanding cyclic stability when applied in supercapacitors.

A new series of alkaline-earth-metal based coordination polymers were synthesized by using a pyrazine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (2,5-H2pzdc) ligand under hydrothermal conditions. These compounds show a variety of structural topologies, reflecting the variable coordination geometries of the alkaline-earth ions as well as the key role of the metal precursor salts. Ca, Sr, and Ba give porous three-dimensional compounds, namely [Ca(2,5-pzdc)(H2O)2]·H2O (1), [Sr(2,5-pzdc)(H2O)4]·H2O (3), [Ba(2,5-pzdc)(H2O)4]·2H2O (4) and [Ba(2,5pzdc)(H2O)2] (5), that feature one-dimensional hydrophilic channels which are filled with water molecules. The Sr compound retains its structure when the lattice water molecules are removed, while the other compounds undergo a structural rearrangement. The hydrophilicity of the Sr compound combined with its high stability even in the absence of guest molecules are the key characteristics that determine its good water adsorption and proton conductivity properties

β-Ni(OH)2 is considered a potential candidate of supercapacitor electrode material due to its high theoretical capacitance and cost efficiency. In order for β-Ni(OH)2 electrode to achieve high areal capacitances, we report effective fabrication of high mass loading low-crystalline β-Ni(OH)2 on nickel foam through the acid-etching formation of Ni3(PO4)2 precursor and the subsequent electrochemical activation. The heavily-loaded (13.5 mg cm−2), binder-free β-Ni(OH)2 electrode presents a high areal capacitance of 15.31F cm−2 (1134F g−1) at current density of 30 mA cm−2 (2.22 A g−1) and has a capacitance retention of 85% after 10,000 cycles at a high current density of 110 mA cm−2 (7.41 A g−1). Besides, the assembled hybrid supercapacitors can deliver an areal capacitance of 2.59F cm−2 at 20 mA cm−2 with a maximum energy density of 0.49 mWh cm−2 (2.45 mWh cm−3). This work provides a certain reference for exploring a low-cost and large-scale method of material synthesis at room temperature for high mass loading and capacitance in the future application.
