The results of phylogenetic analysis, based on the whole chloroplast genome and morphological study support the transfer of a long ignored bamboo species, Sasa gracilis, to the recently established genus, Sinosasa, in this study. Morphologically, this species differs from all the other known Sinosasa species by having very short (2–3 mm) foliage leaf inner ligules, which is unusual in this genus. A revised description of its morphology and colour photos are also provided.

BACKGROUND: Removable partial dentures (RPDs) are widely used as a repair means and have a wide application scope. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of using design software in the preclinical teaching of removable partial dentures (RPDs). METHODS: Unreal Engine software was used to build the RPD framework design teaching and training software. All 131 undergraduate students majoring in stomatology in the class of 2018, Kunming Medical University, were randomly divided into three groups and received either traditional experiment teaching, flipped classroom teaching, or software teaching for RPD design. The application effect of the software in the preclinical teaching of RPD design was evaluated by analyzing the examination results and through the use of a questionnaire survey. RESULTS: The differences in the theoretical examination scores among the traditional teaching group, the flipped classroom group, and the software teaching group were not statistically significant (P> 0.05), while the average design scores of upper Kennedy Class I and lower Kennedy Class II subclass II in the software teaching group were significantly higher than those in the traditional teaching group (P< 0.05). Overall, 75% of the students in the software teaching group reported that this teaching method could improve their learning initiative, a higher percentage than in the traditional teaching group (55.8%, P< 0.05). Meanwhile, 90.9% of the students in the software teaching group reported that the software could make RPD-related theoretical knowledge more visual and intuitive, and 93.2% of these students felt it was helpful for understanding the RPD three-dimensional (3D) spatial structure. These percentages were higher than those in the traditional teaching and flipped classroom groups (P< 0.05). CONCLUSION: In the preclinical teaching of RPD design, software training helped the students better understand the 3D structure of RPDs and establish clear design ideas, and it may also be valuable for in-depth research and promotion purposes.

On 6 February 2023, two large earthquakes with magnitude 7.8 and 7.6 rocked south-central Türkiye and northwestern Syria. At the time of writing, the death toll exceeded 50,000 in Türkiye and 7200 in Syria. The epicenter of the first mainshock was located ∼15 km east of the east Anatolian fault (EAF), the second large earthquake (9 hr later) initiated ∼90 km to the north on the east–west-trending Sürgü fault. Aftershocks delineate fault lengths of ∼350 and ∼170 km, respectively. Using satellite and seismic data for first-order analyses of surface-fault offsets, space–time rupture evolution, and recorded ground motions, our study sheds light on the reasons for the extensive destruction. The first event ruptured the EAF bilaterally, lasted for ∼80 s, and created surface fault offsets of over 6 m. The second event also ruptured bilaterally with a duration of ∼35 s and more than 7 m surface offsets. Horizontal ground accelerations reached locally up to 2g in the first mainshock; severe and widespread shaking occurred in the Hatay-Antakia area with values near 0.5g. Both earthquakes are characterized by directivity effects and abrupt rupture cessation generating stopping phases that contributed to strong seismic radiation. Shaking was further aggravated locally by site-amplification effects.

Nowadays, graph structure data has played a key role in machine learning because of its simple topological structure, and therefore, the graph representation learning methods have attracted great attention. And it turns out that the low-dimensional embedding representation obtained by graph representation learning is extremely useful in various typical tasks, such as node classification and content recommendation. However, most of the existing methods do not further dig out potential structural information on the original graph structure. Here, we propose wGCN, which utilizes random walk to obtain the node-specific mesoscopic structures (high-order local structure) of the graph and utilizes these mesoscopic structures to enhance the graph and organize the characteristic information of the nodes. Our method can effectively generate node embedding for data of previously unknown categories, which has been proven in a series of experiments conducted on many types of graph networks. And compared to baselines, our method shows the best performance on most datasets and achieves competitive results on others. It is believed that combining the mesoscopic structure to further explore the structural information of the graph will greatly improve the learning efficiency of the graph neural network.

The attraction of Bilibili to young audiences is increasing year by year. The explosion of Tiktok has made a certain impact on the popularity of Bilibili. Therefore, it is particularly vital to explore the deep consumption causes behind young people. At present, there is relatively little research on the comparison between Bilibili and Tiktok video platforms, including the consumption psychology of the audience. This kind of research is relatively novel and mainly employed and disseminated in the industry. Therefore, academic research is still rather rare. Meanwhile, there is a lack of in-depth and systematic research results. This study tries to investigate Hong Kong graduate groups from eight prestigious public universities through in-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys, using SPSS software for data analysis. By collecting the comments and feedback of postgraduate students on Bilibili and Tiktok, the consumption status of young audiences and the underlying consumption reasons can be understood. The commercial value will be provided to those similar video broadcast platforms’ business modes. The research suggests that young audiences with a certain educational background have not been significantly affected by using Tiktok, although the popularity of Tiktok in recent years is reflected in the increasing data. Comparatively, Bilibili is relatively attractive to this group. This group will not blindly engage in impulsive consumption on the platform. The underlying consumption reasons can be summarized as follows: the upgrading of the consumption concept, the demand for functional products, better daily consumption platform alternatives, and the fondness for anchors.

For posterior pilon fractures, the posterior approach (PA) is widely used but has its limitations. The transfibular approach (TFA) has been adopted to treat posterior malleolar fractures for the advantage of direct visual confirmation of the reduction status intraoperatively, yet the report of its application on posterior pilon fractures is rare. This study aims to compare TFA with PA in terms of their corresponding reduction quality.Clinical data of 85 posterior pilon fracture patients treated via PA (n = 62) or TFA (n = 23) were retrospectively reviewed. Radiographic and clinical assessments, including articular step-off or gap, syndesmosis reduction quality, signs of ankle arthritis, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score, visual analogue scale (VAS), ankle stability, and the active range of motion (ROM) of the ankle, were all evaluated by two readers independently.The total incidence of step-off or gap ≥ 1 mm was significantly higher in the PA group (35.5%) than in the TFA group (8.7%, p = 0.015). In all the patients, step-off ≥ 1 mm was identified as an independent risk factor for the development of arthritis and a lower AOFAS score (p0.001). No significant difference was found in ROM and complication incidence between the two groups. Ankle instability was found in neither group during the follow-up.TFA could offer a way to intraoperatively evaluate the reduction status with direct visual confirmation and, thereby, might improve the results of reduction for posterior pilon fractures.Level III.

Sasa tomentosa is transferred to the genus Yushania following a reassessment based on a new collection with pachymorph and long-necked rhizomes from its type locality in Guangxi, China. Morphologically, it is most similar to Yushania doupengshanensis, but differs in culm, branch complement and foliage leaf characters. A revised description of its morphology and color photos are also provided.
