Overweight and obesity in adults have become a global public health problem. Epidemiological studies suggest that sleep duration may contribute to the incidence of overweight and obesity in all stages of life. China has an increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity, and sleep deprivation is common among Chinese adults. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the prospective relationship between insufficient sleep and the incidence of overweight or obesity in Chinese adults and estimate the risk. A systematic search was performed on June 6, 2021, of Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science. The exposure was the sleep duration, and the outcome measure was the incidence of overweight or obesity. The odds ratios, relative risks, hazard ratios, and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were extracted. Heterogeneity and publication bias of the studies were checked with a sensitivity analysis. Four studies fulfilled the criteria for inclusion. A total of 34,877 and 184,796 participants (Chinese men and women, age > 18 years) were included for the analyses of general and central obesities, respectively. The pooled relative risks for a short sleep duration were 1.06 (95% CI: 0.90, 1.25; I2 = 0.00) and 1.12 (95% CI: 1.07, 1.16, I2 = 0.00) for the incidence of general and central obesities, respectively. Studies showed no significant heterogeneity. In conclusion, this study showed that a short sleep duration was associated with the development of central obesity but not with that of general obesity in Chinese adults.

The development of mouse spermatozoa is a continuous process from spermatogonia, spermatocytes, spermatids to mature sperm. Those developing germ cells (spermatogonia, spermatocyte, and spermatids) together with supporting sertoli cells are all enclosed inside seminiferous tubules of the testis, their identification is key to testis histology and pathology analysis. Automated segmentation of all these cells is a challenging task because of their dynamical changes in different stages. The accurate segmentation of testicular cells is critical in developing computerized spermatogenesis staging. In this paper, we present a novel segmentation model, SED-Net, which incorporates a squeeze-and-excitation (SE) module and a dense unit. The SE module optimizes and obtains features from different channels, whereas the dense unit uses fewer parameters to enhance the use of features. A human-in-the-loop strategy, named deep interactive learning, is developed to achieve better segmentation performance while reducing the workload of manual annotation and time consumption. Across a cohort of 274 seminiferous tubules from stages VI to VIII, the SED-Net achieved a pixel accuracy of 0.930, a mean pixel accuracy of 0.866, a mean intersection over union of 0.710, and a frequency weighted intersection over union of 0.878, respectively, in terms of four types of testicular cell segmentation. There is no significant difference between manual annotated tubules and segmentation results by SED-Net in cell composition analysis for tubules from stages VI to VIII. In addition, we performed cell composition analysis on 2346 segmented seminiferous tubule images from 12 segmented testicular section results. The results provided quantitation of cells of various testicular cell types across 12 stages. The rule reflects the cell variation tendency across 12 stages during development of mouse spermatozoa. The method could enable us to not only analyze cell morphology and staging during the development of mouse spermatozoa but also potentially could be applied to the study of reproductive diseases such as infertility.

Motivation Differentiating 12 stages of the mouse seminiferous epithelial cycle is vital towards understanding the dynamic spermatogenesis process. However, it is challenging since two adjacent spermatogenic stages are morphologically similar. Distinguishing Stages I–III from Stages IV–V is important for histologists to understand sperm development in wildtype mice and spermatogenic defects in infertile mice. To achieve this, we propose a novel pipeline for computerized spermatogenesis staging (CSS). Results The CSS pipeline comprises four parts: (i) A seminiferous tubule segmentation model is developed to extract every single tubule; (ii) A multi-scale learning (MSL) model is developed to integrate local and global information of a seminiferous tubule to distinguish Stages I–V from Stages VI–XII; (iii) a multi-task learning (MTL) model is developed to segment the multiple testicular cells for Stages I–V without an exhaustive requirement for manual annotation; (iv) A set of 204D image-derived features is developed to discriminate Stages I–III from Stages IV–V by capturing cell-level and image-level representation. Experimental results suggest that the proposed MSL and MTL models outperform classic single-scale and single-task models when manual annotation is limited. In addition, the proposed image-derived features are discriminative between Stages I–III and Stages IV–V. In conclusion, the CSS pipeline can not only provide histologists with a solution to facilitate quantitative analysis for spermatogenesis stage identification but also help them to uncover novel computerized image-derived biomarkers. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) show prominent clinical activity across multiple advanced tumors. However, less than half of patients respond even after molecule-based selection. Thus, improved biomarkers are required. In this study, we use an image analysis to capture morphologic attributes relating to the spatial interaction and architecture of tumor cells and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) from digitized H&E images. We evaluate the association of image features with progression-free (PFS) and overall survival in non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ( N = 187) and gynecological cancer ( N = 39) patients treated with ICIs. We demonstrated that the classifier trained with NSCLC alone was associated with PFS in independent NSCLC cohorts and also in gynecological cancer. The classifier was also associated with clinical outcome independent of clinical factors. Moreover, the classifier was associated with PFS even with low PD-L1 expression. These findings suggest that image analysis can be used to predict clinical end points in patients receiving ICI.

Adsorbents with the combination of magnetic separation and removal performance are expected for reducing the adverse impact of nuclear pollution. In this study, the core–shell Fe3O4@polydopamine (Fe3O4@PDA) was successfully synthesized and used for removal of uranium (U(VI)) ion from aqueous solution. The abundant N-containing groups derived from PDA exist as the chelate sites for U(VI) and contribute greatly for U(VI) removal. Experimental results show that Fe3O4@PDA (56.39 mg g–1) exhibits greater sorption capacity for U(VI) removal compared with the pure Fe3O4 (9.17 mg g–1). The sorption isotherm can be well fitted with Freundlich model and the sorption process is endothermic and spontaneous. The removal of U(VI) can be explained by the complexation of U(VI) with –NH–, –NH2 and C–O in the surface of Fe3O4@PDA by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis.

Bacteria may change the physicochemical properties of montmorillonite and further effect the disposal of high-level radioactive waste. Therefore, we explored the influence of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 on the elimination of representative radionuclide U(VI) by montmorillonite (MMT). The batch experiments showed that MR-1 significantly enhanced the removal efficiency of U(VI), the adsorption capacity of MMT improved from 8.4 to 16.1 mg/g after addition of MR-1, and the adsorption type changed from Langmuir to Freundlich. FTIR and XPS analysis revealed that hydroxyl, phosphate, carbonyl and amine in MMT + MR-1 were primary actors in the elimination of U(VI). The U 4f high-resolution XPS spectrum of MMT + MR-1 showed U(VI) and U(IV) peaks at the same time, indicating that the adsorption process was accompanied by the reduction reaction, which may be due to the extracellular respiration of MR-1. These investigations are significant to insight the potential significance of microbial processes for the transport and elimination of U(VI) in repositories, which in return will contribute to their safe disposal.

Radionuclide contamination has become an urgent problem with the development of nuclear power plants. Herein, chemical-decorated core-shell magnetic manganese dioxide (denoted as Fe3O4@C@MnO2) composites were synthesized via transforming KMnO4 to MnO2 on the carbon-covered magnetite (Fe3O4@C) microsphere surface. It was employed to remove U(VI) and Eu(III) ions from aqueous solution under various conditions. The kinetic adsorption data were well simulated by the pseudo-second-order model and adsorption isotherms were fitted well by Langmuir model. Moreover, the maximum uptake capacities were up to 77.71 mg/g for U(VI) and 51.01 mg/g for Eu(III) at pH = 5.0 and T = 298 K. Adsorption behavior was strongly related to pH values but weakly affected by ionic strength, implying that the interaction of U(VI)/Eu(III) with Fe3O4@C@MnO2 was mainly dominated by inner-sphere surface complexation. XPS analysis illustrated that the interaction of Eu(III)/U(VI) with Fe3O4@C@MnO2 was associated with the strong metal bonds (Mn O), hydroxyl bonded on metal (Mn-OH) and carboxyl groups (-COOH) by surface complexation and zeta potential results implied that the adsorption process was governed by electrostatic attraction. This research highlighted the outstanding performance of Fe3O4@C@MnO2 in eliminating Eu(III)/U(VI) ions from aqueous solutions, which was of great significance in the future application in radionuclides' pollution treatment.

With rapid development of nuclear industry, the overexploitation of uranium has brought a series of radioactive pollution problems to water, soil, atmosphere and ecosystem. Uranium and its compounds are highly carcinogenic and biologically toxic, posing a deadly threat to human health. Therefore, how to design a highly selective and sensitive sensor to detect uranyl ions in the environment and organisms has become an urgent task. This review summarizes relevant literature on the detection of uranyl ions by different sensors over the years. The detection methods can be roughly divided into three categories: optical sensors, electrochemical sensors and other sensors; further classification has also been carried out according to their detection mechanism. The detection limits and performances of different sensors are discussed to intuitively understand different capability for these methods in detecting uranyl ions. We also discuss the trend and future direction of uranium to provide a valuable reference for further developing better uranyl sensors.

Graphene with atomic layer of sp2-hybridized carbon atoms in a hexagonal structure has attracted multidisciplinary attention since its discovery. Due to the inherent advantages of large specific surface area and abundant functional groups, its derivative graphene oxide (GO) nanomaterials have achieved large-scale development in effective pollution treatment. In the past few years, novel GO-based nanomaterials through coupling with other nanomaterials have been synthesized with significant process and applied for efficient elimination of different kinds of pollutants. This paper aims to summarize recent research results on the excellent removal ability of GO-based nanomaterials for various heavy metal ions in aqueous solutions. The synthesis, adsorption process characteristics and interaction mechanism of the adsorbent are emphasized and discussed. The effects of various environmental conditions are outlined. At last, a brief summary, perspective and outlook are presented. This review is intended to provide some thrilling information for the design and manufacture of GO-based nanomaterials for the elimination of heavy metal ions from wastewater in environmental pollution management.

Efficient containment and capture of uranium (U(VI)) from aqueous solution is an essential component to ensure socially and environmentally sustainable development. Herein, the three-dimensional graphene/titanium dioxide composite (3D GA/TiO2) was synthesized and applied as an effective adsorbent to remove U(VI) from wastewater as a function of contact time, temperature, pH and ion strength. The 3D GA/TiO2 material was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The batch experiments results indicated that the adsorption of U(VI) on materials were fitted with the pseudo-second order kinetics and Langmuir models. More specifically, 3D GA/TiO2 (441.3 mg/g) was observed to outperform the GO (280.0 mg/g), rGO (140.9 mg/g) and TiO2 (98.5 mg/g) at pH 5.0, which was attributable to the excellent cooperative effects. Furthermore, XPS analyses and DFT calculations confirmed the formation of surface complexes between oxygen-containing group and U(VI) with the U–O bonds length of 2.348 A (U–O1) and 2.638 A (U–O2). Meanwhile, the adsorption energy was calculated to be 1.60 eV, which showed a very strong chemisorption during the interaction process. It is believed that the 3D GA/TiO2 revealed good removal performance for uranyl ions, which showed a great potential application to control the nuclear industrial pollution.

Composites of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and graphene (G) are exciting nanomaterials because of their unique surface structures and excellent physicochemical properties. Such materials offer the advantages of both components, that is, the large surface area and ample functional groups of graphene and the outstanding layered structure and ion-exchangeability of layered double hydroxides, whilst effectively avoiding the coagulation of graphene and the instability of pristine layered double hydroxides, and they have been widely investigated for applications in water remediation. This Minireview begins by summarizing the most common methods for the synthesis of G@LDH composites, including hydrothermal treatment, coprecipitation, and in situ growth. Then, we review the adsorption and catalytic ability of G@LDH materials in the removal of contaminants from water, such as heavy metal ions, radionuclides, dyes, and other organic pollutants. Finally, we discuss the challenges and offer a perspective on the directions of future research of G@LDH composites.

With the development of nuclear energy, large amounts of radionuclides are inevitably released into the natural environment. It is necessary to eliminate radionuclides from wastewater for the protection of environment. Nanomaterials have been considered as the potential candidates for the effective and selective removal of radionuclides from aqueous solutions under complicated conditions because of their high specific surface area, large amounts of binding sites, abundant functional groups, pore-size controllable and easily surface modification. This review mainly summarized the recent studies for the synthesis, fabrication and surface modification of novel nanomaterials and their applications in the efficient elimination and solidification of radionuclides, and discussed the interaction mechanisms from batch experiments, spectroscopy analysis and theoretical calculations. The sorption capacities with other materials, advantages and disadvantages of different nanomaterials are compared, and at last the perspective of the novel nanomaterials is summarized.

The rapid growth in nuclear industries such as uranium ores mining, nuclear energy generation, spent-fuel treatment and nuclear weapon manufacture has caused a legacy of uranium contamination in the aquatic environment, which poses a potential threat to the ecological environment and human health. The safe and effective disposal of uranium-contaminated water has thus been an urgent requirement. For decades, various materials have been shown to be capable for removing uranium from aqueous solution by adsorption technique, namely inorganic materials (e.g., clay minerals, metal oxides, mesoporous silica), organic polymers (e.g., resins, cellulose, chitosan), carbon family materials (e.g., mesoporous carbon, carbon nanotubes, graphene oxides), and porous framework materials (e.g., covalent organic frameworks, metal-organic frameworks). In this review, we provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of the researches conducted from 2005 to 2018 for uranium removal from aqueous solution by these emerging materials. The different approaches in the determination of the adsorption mechanisms between uranium and adsorbents are also briefly summarized, involving macroscopic experimental approaches, microscopic spectroscopic and computational approaches. Finally, we discuss the current limitations and propose future research perspectives in hopes of inspiring more dramatic advancements in the material and environment remediation fields.

Extraction of Eu(III) from wastewater has recently received extensive attention in environmental water pollution improvement because Eu(III) is the chemical analogue of trivalent lanthanides [Ln(III)] and actinides [An(III)]. In this work, UiO-66-AO with remarkable physicochemical properties was designed through introducing amidoxime groups (C(NOH)NH2) on the surface of UiO-66-CN which was derived from UiO-66-Br through introducing cyano groups (C N). SEM, TEM, BET, FT-IR, XRD, and TGA techniques demonstrated the effective synthesis and excellent structural performances of target materials. The outstanding sorption efficiency of UiO-66-AO (∼253.8 mg/g within 2 h) was verified through kinetic and thermodynamic analyses, showing that the kinetics data were well fitted by pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and the sorption isotherms were effectively fitted by Langmuir model. Based on macroscopic experiments and spectroscopic analyses (FT-IR and XPS), the removal mechanisms of Eu(III) onto UiO-66-AO were electrostatic interaction and inner-sphere surface complexation. In addition, the environmental application assessment had proved that UiO-66-AO owned excellent stability, outstanding selectivity, and remarkable Eu(III) removal percentage in simulated wastewater systems, demonstrating the great potential of UiO-66-AO to remove radionuclides from the actual wastewater.

Nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) has been considered as a potential scavenger for U(VI) elimination from aqueous environment. To decrease the aggregation and to improve antioxidation, sulfidation technology and biochar were applied to modify NZVI. In this work, Dictyophora indusiate-derived biochar supported sulfide NZVI (DI-SNZVI) was synthesized and applied for U(VI) elimination. The excellent behaviors of kinetics (3 h for equilibrium), thermodynamic research and maximum removal amounts (427.9 mg·g−1 at pH = 5.0 and 298 K) revealed the outstanding performances of DI-SNZVI in U(VI) removal. The cycle experiments and different water system investigations further illustrated its potential ability for real applications. Moreover, the abundant functional groups and FeSx shell of DI-SNZVI were proved to be responsible for the enhanced removal of U(VI). In the end, the macroscopic and XPS study revealed that U(VI) elimination mechanisms were synergistic attributed to the adsorptive and reductive processes. This paper highlighted the biochar-based sulfide NZVI for efficient U(VI) elimination in environmental pollution management.

In this study, nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) supported on layered double hydroxide (LDH) composite (LDH@nZVI) was prepared, characterized and applied to U(VI) scavenging in water. Removal of U(VI) as a function of pH, ionic strength, reaction time, initial concentrations of U(VI), and temperature were studied and compared with pure LDH and nZVI, the LDH@nZVI had best U(VI) removal efficiency owning to the excellent synergistic combination of LDH adsorption and nZVI reduction. XPS analysis found that surface oxygen functional groups and surface-bound Fe(II) played a critical role in U(VI) remediation. The large surface areas (334.0 m2/g), abundant functional groups (i.e., M O, C O and OH), rapid kinetics (adsorption equilibrium within 1 h) and excellent adsorption capacities (176 mg/g) indicating that LDH@nZVI can be considered as a potential material for preconcentration of U(VI) from sewage water.

The bioaccumulation and transformation of U(VI) by sporangiospores of Mucor circinelloides under different environmental conditions (e.g., reaction time, pH, carbonate, sporangiospores concentration, and temperature) was investigated by batch, XPS and EXAFS techniques. The bioaccumulation kinetics and isotherms can be fitted by the pseudo-second-order kinetic mode and Langmuir model, respectively, due to the high correlation coefficient. The maximum bioaccumulation capacity of sporangiospores for U(VI) was 166.13 mg/g at pH 6.0, which was significantly higher than that of other mycelia or spores. The intracellular and extracellular morphology of sporangiospores were significantly changed after U(VI) bioaccumulation, and levels of intracellular H2O2, O3−, GPx and SOD compounds in sporangiospores increased significantly. XANES analysis confirmed that the intracellular U(VI) was reduced to U(IV) by sporangiospores, and U(IV) might be stably associated with oxygen-bearing functional groups by EXAFS analysis. These results show that the sporangiospores can be used a promising adsorbent for the bioaccumulation and transformation of U(VI) from aqueous solutions, which has important scientific significance for the immobilization of U(VI) in environmental remediation.

The binding of metal ions with humic acid (HA) plays an important role in the aggregation of HA and the migration of metal ions in the environments. The effects of common cations (Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Al3+) and heavy metal ions (Ag+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Cr3+ and Eu3+) on the aggregation of HA were investigated systematically by aggregation kinetics, spectroscopic techniques and molecular dynamic (MD) simulations. The critical coagulation concentration (CCC) of mono-, di- and trivalent cations could be predicted by the Schulze-Hardy rule. The aggregation of HA in the presence of Na+ and Ag+ was mainly due to the reduction of repulsive force and the hydrogen bonds between HA molecules. While the complexation of di- and trivalent cations with carboxylic/phenolic groups, or the cation-π interactions enhanced the intra- or inter-molecular bridges in HA and then contributed greatly to the aggregation of HA. Heavy metal ions could easily pass through the electric double-layer of HA compared with common cations. MD simulations further signified the strong aggregation ability of HA molecules in solutions containing high valence metal ions. These findings are important for understanding not only how the influence of metal ions on the aggregation of HA, but also the conditions which ions more efficient for aggregation.

Purpose: The presence of a high degree of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) has been proven to be associated with outcome in patients with non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, recent evidence indicates that tissue architecture is also prognostic of disease-specific survival and recurrence. We show a set of descriptors (spatial TIL, SpaTIL) that capture density, and spatial colocalization of TILs and tumor cells across digital images that can predict likelihood of recurrence in early-stage NSCLC. Experimental Design: The association between recurrence in early-stage NSCLC and SpaTIL features was explored on 301 patients across four different cohorts. Cohort D1 (n = 70) was used to identify the most prognostic SpaTIL features and to train a classifier to predict the likelihood of recurrence. The classifier performance was evaluated in cohorts D2 (n = 119), D3 (n = 112), and D4 (n = 112). Two pathologists graded each sample of D1 and D2; intraobserver agreement and association between manual grading and likelihood of recurrence were analyzed. Results: SpaTIL was associated with likelihood of recurrence in all test sets (log-rank P < 0.02). A multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis revealed an HR of 3.08 (95% confidence interval, 2.1–4.5, P = 7.3 × 10−5). In contrast, agreement among expert pathologists using tumor grade was moderate (Kappa = 0.5), and the manual TIL grading was only prognostic for one reader in D2 (P = 8.0 × 10−3). Conclusions: A set of features related to density and spatial architecture of TILs was found to be associated with a likelihood of recurrence of early-stage NSCLC. Designing and fabricating environmental friendly adsorbents with more accessible active sites and higher specific surface area for achieving rapid kinetics and high efficiency have become an impending challenge in radionuclides’ pollution remediation. To overcome these issues, we rationally designed the hierarchical structured layered double hydroxides with mesoporous carbon template (CMK-3@LDHs) by in situ hydrothermal method. The adsorption data could be well simulated with pseudo-second-order and Langmuir model, and the results indicated that the CMK-3@LDHs exhibited higher adsorption capacities (171 mg·g−1 for CMK-3@Mg-Al LDHs and 301 mg·g−1 for CMK-3@Ni-Al LDHs at pH = 5.0) and more rapid kinetics (achieved equilibrium within 30 min) than SBA-15@LDHs towards U(VI). The kinetic model simulation demonstrated that the adsorption rate was dominated by intra-particle and film diffusion models simultaneously. Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials have been identified as one of the promising materials due to their great promise for waste treatment. Currently, the investigation of wastewater remediation is highly imperative and still remains challenging. Here, a novel class of 2D MAX@titanate nanocomposites was fabricated by a simple oxidation and alkalization method, and they exhibited different morphologies and impressive elimination performance. The Pb(ii) uptake processes were dramatically affected by the solution pH and reached equilibrium quickly. Abundant functional groups and enhanced specific surface areas endowed T-NTO nanofibers with outstanding adsorption capacity of 328.9 mg g-1 at pH = 5.0 and T = 298 K, which was much higher than that of T-KTO nanoribbons. Moreover, the possible mechanism was expounded with the aid of Raman, FT-IR, XRD and XPS analyses, in which the synergistic effect of surface complexation and ion exchange significantly contributed to the adsorption performance. On the basis of above analyses, this study not only presents a novel and facile strategy for preparing T-NTO and T-KTO nanostructures with superior adsorption capacity, but also broadens the prospective applications of other functional MAX-derived nanostructures in environmental cleanup.

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur co-doped 3D inverse opal structured graphene-like carbon nanospheres (denoted as NPS-IOC) are reported for the first time by graphitization of highly cross-linked poly (cyclo-triphosphazene-co-4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol) (PZS). The resulting NPS-IOC possessed hierarchical interconnected spherical voids with a diameter of about 400 nm, which not only offered a short diffusion distance for mass transportation, but also aggrandized the surface area to increase active sites. NPS-IOC400 exhibited excellent BPA capture performance with a maximum adsorption capacity of 255.39 mg g−1 at 298.15 K, ultrafast removal rate, especially stable under high ionic strengths and suitable for wide pH environments. Our systematic spectroscopic characterizations and theoretical calculations demonstrated that the adsorption mechanism was mainly driven by π–π stacking interaction. Meanwhile, electrostatic interaction, hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen-bonding also played roles in the adsorption mechanism. Most importantly, the doped N, P, S heteroatoms played a synergistic effect which promoted the adsorption process. Its unique structure and excellent performance endowed NPS-IOC with a great promising future for governing organic pollutants in aquatic environments.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is cancer that originates from the liver's secondary ductal epithelium or branch. Due to the lack of early-stage clinical symptoms and very high mortality, the 5-year postoperative survival rate is only about 35%. A critical step to improve patients' survival is accurately predicting their survival status and giving appropriate treatment. The tumor microenvironment of ICC is the immediate environment on which the tumor cell growth depends. The differentiation of tumor glands, the stroma status, and the tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in such environments are strictly related to the tumor progress. It is crucial to develop a computerized system for characterizing the tumor environment. This work aims to develop the quantitative histomorphological features that describe lymphocyte density distribution at the cell level and the different components at the tumor's tissue level in HE-stained whole slide images (WSIs). The goal is to explore whether these features could stratify patients' survival. This study comprised of 127 patients diagnosed with ICC after surgery, where 78 cases were randomly chosen as the modeling set, and the rest of the 49 cases were testing set. Deep learning-based models were developed for tissue segmentation and lymphocyte detection in the WSIs. A total of 107-dimensional features, including different type of graph features on the WSIs were extracted by exploring the histomorphological patterns of these identified tumor tissue and lymphocytes. The top 3 discriminative features were chosen with the mRMR algorithm via 5-fold cross-validation to predict the patient's survival. The model's performance was evaluated on the independent testing set, which achieved an AUC of 0.6818 and the log-rank test p-value of 0.03. The Cox multivariable test was used to control the TNM staging, γ-Glutamytransferase, and the Peritumoral Glisson's Sheath Invasion. It showed that our model could independently predict survival risk with a p-value of 0.048 and HR (95% confidence interval) of 2.90 (1.01-8.32). These results indicated that the composition in tissue-level and global arrangement of lymphocytes in the cell-level could distinguish ICC patients' survival risk.

Because the pollutants produced by human activities have destroyed the ecological balance of natural water environment, and caused severe impact on human life safety and environmental security. Hence the task of water environment restoration is imminent. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), structured from organic ligands and inorganic metal ions, are notable for their outstanding crystallinity, diverse structures, large surface areas, adsorption performance, and excellent component tunability. The water stability of MOFs is a key requisite for their possible actual applications in separation, catalysis, adsorption, and other water environment remediation areas because it is necessary to safeguard the integrity of the material structure during utilization. In this article, we comprehensively review state-of-the-art research progress on the promising potential of MOFs as excellent nanomaterials to remove contaminants from the water environment. Firstly, the fundamental characteristics and preparation methods of several typical water-stable MOFs include UiO, MIL, and ZIF are introduced. Then, the removal property and mechanism of heavy metal ions, radionuclide contaminants, drugs, and organic dyes by different MOFs were compared. Finally, the application prospect of MOFs in pollutant remediation prospected. In this review, the synthesis methods and application in water pollutant removal are explored, which provide ways toward the effective use of water-stable MOFs in materials design and environmental remediation.

Take the underground parking space with many kinds of signs, complex structure, and relatively closed room as the experimental scene, set up different types of wayfinding tasks, adopt behavior analysis method and think-aloud protocols, systematically compare the wayfinding cognition and behavior in the actual and virtual scenes from three levels of task performance, physical behavior and cognitive process, and explore the feasibility of virtual reality technology in guide sign design. Results of the study show that there is no significant difference in the subjects’ performance in two scenes. Besides, path selection and clue processings are relatively similar, indicating that virtual reality technology can be effectively applied to cognitive research on guide signs.

Carbon materials derived from metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have excellent properties of high surface area, high porosity, adjustable pore size, high conductivity and stability, and their applications in catalysis have become a rapidly expanding research field. In this review, we have summarized the synthesis strategies of MOF-derived carbons with different physical and chemical properties, obtained through direct carbonization, co-pyrolysis and post-treatment. The potential applications of derived carbons, especially monometal-, bimetal-, nonmetal-doped and metal-free carbons in organo-catalysis, photocatalysis and electrocatalysis are analyzed in detail from the environmental perspective. In addition, the improvement of catalytic efficiency is also considered from the aspects of increasing active sites, enhancing the activity of reactants and promoting free electron transfer. The function and synergy of various species of the composites in the catalytic reaction are summarized. The reaction paths and mechanisms are analyzed, and research ideas or trends are proposed for further development.
