We investigate the following nonlinear system \begin{document}$ \begin{cases} -(a+ b\int _{\Omega}|\nabla u|^{2}dx)\Delta u+\phi u = \lambda u+\mu|u|^{2}u, \; \ x\in\Omega, \\ -\Delta\phi = u^{2}, \; \ x\in\Omega, \\ u = \phi = 0, \; \ x\in \partial\Omega, \end{cases} $\end{document} with $ a, b > 0 $, $ \lambda, \mu\in\mathbb{R} $, and $ \Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^{3} $ is bounded with smooth boundary. Let $ \lambda_{1} > 0 $ be the first eigenvalue of $ (-\Delta u, H^{1}_{0}(\Omega)) $. We get that for certain $ \widetilde{\mu} > 0 $ there exists at least one least energy sign-changing solution for the above system if $ \lambda < a\lambda_{1} $ and $ \mu > \widetilde{\mu} $. In addition, we remark that the nonlinearity $ \lambda u+\mu|u|^{2}u $ does not satisfy the growth conditions.

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), as a key platform compound for the conversion of biomass to various biomass-derived chemicals and biofuels, has been attracted extensive attention. In this research, using Pickering high internal phase emulsions (Pickering HIPEs) as template and functional metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66-SO3H and UiO-66-NH2)/Tween 85 as co-stabilizers to synthesis the dual acid-base bifunctional macroporous polymer catalyst by one-pot process, which has excellent catalytic activity in the cascade reaction of converting cellulose to 5-HMF. The effects of the emulsion parameters including the amount of surfactant (ranging from 0.5 %(mass) to 2.0 %(mass)), the internal phase volume fraction (ranging from 75% to 90%) and the acid/base Pickering particles mass ratio (ranging from 0:6 to 6:0) on the morphology and catalytic performance of solid catalyst were systematically researched. The results of catalytic experiments suggested that the connected large pore size of catalyst can effectively improve the cellulose conversion, and the synergistic effect of acid and base active sites can effectively improve the 5-HMF yield. The highest 5-HMF yield, about 40.5%, can be obtained by using polymer/MOFs composite as catalyst (Poly-P12, the pore size of (53.3 ± 11.3)μm, the acid density of 1.99 mmol·g-1 and the base density of 1.13 mol·g-1) under the optimal reaction conditions (130 ℃, 3 h). Herein, the polymer/MOFs composite with open-cell structure was prepared by the Pickering HIPEs templating method, which provided a favorable experimental basis and theoretical reference for achieving efficient production of high added-value product from abundant biomass.

Many circRNA transcriptome data were deposited in public resources, but these data show great heterogeneity. Researchers without bioinformatics skills have difficulty in investigating these invaluable data or their own data. Here, we specifically designed circMine (http://hpcc.siat.ac.cn/circmine and http://www.biomedical-web.com/circmine/) that provides 1 821 448 entries formed by 136 871 circRNAs, 87 diseases and 120 circRNA transcriptome datasets of 1107 samples across 31 human body sites. circMine further provides 13 online analytical functions to comprehensively investigate these datasets to evaluate the clinical and biological significance of circRNA. To improve the data applicability, each dataset was standardized and annotated with relevant clinical information. All of the 13 analytic functions allow users to group samples based on their clinical data and assign different parameters for different analyses, and enable them to perform these analyses using their own circRNA transcriptomes. Moreover, three additional tools were developed in circMine to systematically discover the circRNA–miRNA interaction and circRNA translatability. For example, we systematically discovered five potential translatable circRNAs associated with prostate cancer progression using circMine. In summary, circMine provides user-friendly web interfaces to browse, search, analyze and download data freely, and submit new data for further integration, and it can be an important resource to discover significant circRNA in different diseases.

Woven fabric can provide variety application scenarios in acoustic field as flexible and light features. Folded curtain can be made from fabric, which is a good application example of woven fabric in noise control as sound adjuster in multi-function halls. Many geometric parameters can affect the sound absorption ability of folded curtain, such as folding shape, folding depth, the average distance of air cavity and folding period, etc. However, in random incidence condition, the relationship of geometry parameters and sound absorption ability is not clear in previous works. To obtain this relationship, Finite Element Method is used in this work. Because of the different folded shape, the contribution fractions of different angles are changed by the different geometry parameters. A series of 3D models is established with different geometric conditions. Different angles of incidence plain sound waves are introduced in 3D models. Numerical results show the detailed contribution fractions of different angles. This paper shows that previous model can provide reliable predicted results for flat curtain.

The monostable acoustic metamaterial is realized by placing a flexible panel with a magnetic proof mass in a symmetric magnetic field. The theoretical model of monostable metamaterials has been proposed. The method of finite element simulation is used to verify the theoretical model. The magnetic force of the symmetrical magnetic field is simplified as the relationship between force and displacement, acting on the mass. The simulation results show that as the external magnetic force increases, the peak sound absorption shifts to low frequencies. The theoretical and finite element simulation results are in good agreement.

- Abstract
RNA splicing control is a pivotal aspect of gene regulation and is closely associated with cancer development. From a pan-cancer transcriptome investigation in the splicing layer, we discovered a critical cancer-associated alternative splicing (AS) event at exon 13 of SLK which produces two isoforms, SLK-L and SLK-S. The splicing is dramatically shifted towards SLK-L across multiple prevalent cancer types. We demonstrated that SLK-L plays an essential role in cancer development, especially in metastasis both in cells and in mice, whereas splicing toward SLK-S inhibits cancer development. RNA-seq revealed the two SLK isoforms play different roles in pathways related to cell migration. Furthermore, different SLK isoforms demonstrate varying binding affinities to certain cell junction markers, in part indicating the AS of SLK contributes to cancer cell migration. In addition, the splicing factor Rbfox2 was identified to specifically inhibit the inclusion of exon 13 by binding intron 12 of SLK. Collectively, our study innovatively uncovers the biological consequences and underlying mechanisms for one of the most mis-spliced genes in cancer, highlighting its potential significance in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Background: Previous investigations have illustrated that lysyl oxidase family enzymes (LOXs) are contributing factors for tumor progression and remodeling immunomicroenvironment. However, it is scarce regarding comprehensive analysis of LOXs in the predictions of prognosis, chemotherapy and immunotherapy in glioma, the highly invasive brain tumor. Our present work aimed to explore the prognostic value, chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity and immunotherapy according to distinct LOXs expressions in glioma through bioinformatics analysis and experimental verification. Methods: We collected gene expression data and clinical characteristics from the public databases including Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA)-325, CGGA-693, the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), IMvigor210 and Van Allen 2015 cohorts. The correlations between the clinicopathological factors and differential LOXs expressions were analyzed. The ROC curve and Kaplan-Meier analysis were conducted to evaluate the prediction ability of prognosis. Chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity via distinct LOXs expression levels was predicted using the pRRophetic package. Immune score, immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint expression levels were also analyzed through diverse algorithms in R software. Finally, mRNA and protein expressions of LOXs were validated in glioma cells (T98G and A172) by real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results: Our results demonstrated that high levels of LOXs expressions were positively associated with glioma grades, older age and MGMT unmethylated status while elevations of LOXs were negatively correlated with IDH mutation or 1p/19q co-deletion. Furthermore, the glioma patients with low levels of LOXs also exhibited better prognosis. Also, differential LOXs expressions were associated with at least 12 chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity. Besides, it was also found that glioma patients with high LOXs expressions showed higher enrichment scores for immune cell infiltration and increased levels of immune checkpoints, suggesting the critical role of distinct LOXs expression levels for glioma immunotherapy. The predictive roles of LOXs expression in tumor immunotherapy were also validated in two immunotherapy cohorts including IMvigor 210 and Van Allen 2015. Experimental results revealed that expressions of LOX, LOXL1, LOXL2, and LOXL3 were higher in glioma cell lines at mRNA and protein levels. Conclusion: Our findings altogether indicate that LOXs have potent predictive value for prognosis, chemotherapy and immunotherapy in glioma patients.

Ultracold atoms confined to periodic potentials have proven to be a powerful tool for quantum simulation of complex many-body systems. We confine fermions to one dimension to realize the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid model, which describes the highly collective nature of their low-energy excitations. We use Bragg spectroscopy to directly excite either the spin or charge waves for various strengths of repulsive interaction. We observe that the velocity of the spin and charge excitations shift in opposite directions with increasing interaction, a hallmark of spin-charge separation. The excitation spectra are in quantitative agreement with the exact solution of the Yang-Gaudin model and the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid theory. Furthermore, we identify effects of nonlinear corrections to this theory that arise from band curvature and back-scattering.

Efficient nanoreactors for the catalytic oxidation of the key platform compound HMF to the high value-added chemical FDCA are highly desirable in the field of biomass transformation. Herein, hierarchical porous bowl-like nitrogen-doped carbon supported AuPd bimetallic (AuPd/pBNxC) nanoreactors were synthesized by the following steps: precipitation polymerization, carbonization, SiO2 sphere removal, and sol curing. By changing the amount of nitrogen doping and removing the template, AuPd/pBNxC nanoreactors with a hierarchical porous structure and adjustable basicity were prepared. The alkaline sites of NxC carriers provided anchoring sites for metals and had a certain adsorption affinity for HMF and its intermediates. Theoretical calculations and adsorption experiments indicated that the doped nitrogen significantly enhanced the combining capacity between the HMF molecule and nanoreactors. The nanoreactor was used for the tandem oxidation of HMF to FDCA in water, and the highest FDCA yield of 97.6% could be obtained under optimum reaction conditions. The reaction process was evaluated by kinetics calculations, and the oxidation of FFCA to FDCA was confirmed as the rate-determining step. The regeneration experiments showed that the AuPd/pBNxC nanoreactors could be recycled and reused at least five times without an obvious loss in catalytic activity.

In this paper, we study the following fractional Kirchhoff-type equation $$\begin{aligned}{\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -(a+ b\int _{{\mathbb {R}}^{N}}\int _{{\mathbb {R}}^{N}}|u(x)-u(y)|^{2}K(x-y)dxdy){\mathcal {L}}_{K}u=|u|^{2_{\alpha }^{*}-2}u+\mu f(u), ~\ x\in \Omega ,\\ u=0, ~\ x\in {\mathbb {R}}^{N}\backslash \Omega , \end{array}\right. } \end{aligned}$$ where $$\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^{N}$$ is a bounded domain with a smooth boundary, $$\alpha \in (0,1)$$ , $$2\alpha0$$ ; $${\mathcal {L}}_{K}$$ is non-local integrodifferential operator. Under suitable conditions on f, for $$\mu $$ large enough, by using constraint variational method and the quantitative deformation lemma, we obtain a ground state sign-changing (or nodal) solution to this problem, and its energy is strictly larger than twice that of the ground state solutions.

The need for higher energy-density rechargeable batteries has generated interest in alkali metal electrodes paired with solid electrolytes. However, metal penetration and electrolyte fracture at low current densities have emerged as fundamental barriers. Here we show that for pure metals in the Li–Na–K system, the critical current densities scale inversely to mechanical deformation resistance. Furthermore, we demonstrate two electrode architectures in which the presence of a liquid phase enables high current densities while it preserves the shape retention and packaging advantages of solid electrodes. First, biphasic Na–K alloys show K+ critical current densities (with the K-β″-Al2O3 electrolyte) that exceed 15 mA cm‒2. Second, introducing a wetting interfacial film of Na–K liquid between Li metal and Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12 solid electrolyte doubles the critical current density and permits cycling at areal capacities that exceed 3.5 mAh cm‒2. These design approaches hold promise for overcoming electrochemomechanical stability issues that have heretofore limited the performance of solid-state metal batteries. A challenge with the use of metal anodes in batteries is their inability to sustain structural stability, especially at high currents. Here the authors examine electrochemomechanical properties of metal anodes and demonstrate an effective semi-solid electrode approach at practically relevant conditions.

Aerobic oxidation of bio-sourced 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan (BHMF) to 2, 5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), a renewable and green alternative to petroleum-derived terephthalic acid (TPA), is of great significance in green chemicals production. Herein, hierarchical porous bowl-like nitrogen-rich (nitrated) carbon-supported bimetallic Au-Pd nanocatalysts (AumPdn/ N-BNxC) with different nitrogen content and bimetal nanoparticle sizes were developed and employed for the highly efficient aerobic oxidation of BHMF to FDCA in sodium carbonate aqueous solution. The reaction pathway for catalytic oxidation of BHMF went through the steps of BHMF→HMF→HMFCA→FFCA→FDCA. Kinetics studies showed that the activation energies of BHMF, HMF, HMFCA, and FFCA were 58.1 kJ·moL−1, 39.1 kJ·moL−1, 129.2 kJ·moL−1, and 56.3 kJ·moL−1, respectively, indicating that the oxidation of intermediate HMFCA to FFCA was the rate-determining step. ESR tests proved that the active species was a superoxide radical. Owing to the synergy between the nitrogen-rich carbon support and bimetallic Au-Pd nanoparticles, the Au1Pd1/N-BN2C nanocatalysts exhibited BHMF conversion of 100% and FDCA yield of 95.8% under optimal reaction conditions. Furthermore, the nanocatalysts showed good stability and reusability. This work provides a versatile strategy for the design of heterogeneous catalysts for the highly efficient production of FDCA from BHMF.

The Al2O3-CaO-Cr2O3 systems are widely regarded as highly corrosion-resistant refractory castables, but leading a Cr(VI) problem after service. In the present paper, different contents (0–13.33 wt%) of MS (micro-silica) were added to the castables’ matrix system and heat-treated at 110–1500 °C in an air atmosphere. XRD, SEM-EDS, and leaching tests were done to study the influence of MS content on the formation, inhibition, and leaching kinetics of Cr(VI) phases. The formation of silicate phases is more favorable over Cr(VI) phases at higher temperatures and lower CaO/SiO2 ratios. With increasing MS content, the Cr(VI) compounds decrease gradually until disappearing at the C/S ratio of 0.36. Simultaneously, calcium aluminum garnet, gehlenite, and anorthite phases were formed gradually. When the MS content reached 13.33% (C/S = 0.36%), the total leachable Cr(VI) is decreased by 70% at 700 °C and 100% at 1100 °C respectively. The leaching kinetics experiment indicated that the Cr(VI) leaching process was governed by diffusion via product layers.

Malaria is a prevalent fatal disease in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Combinations of Artemisinin, folate antagonists, quinolines, and antibiotics are major choices in clinics. Currently, wide range of parasite's resistance necessitates the search for chemical compounds with new structures and novel antimalarial targets. The literature review was performed covering the relevant literatures published from 1966 to 2021. On the basis of structural classification (spiro-peroxides, spiroindolones, spirocyclohexadienones et al.), different types of molecules were summarized with resources, anti-malarial activities, structure-activity relationship, target introductions, resistance, development progress, and synthetic strategies, for the purpose of providing comprehensive information for developing antimalarial drugs to overcome drug resistance and highlighting the importance of the spiral structure in medicinal chemistry.

We solve few-magnon problems for a finite-size spin-$S$ periodic Heisenberg XXZ chain with single-ion anisotropy through constructing sets of exact Bloch states achieving block diagonalization of the system. Concretely, the two-magnon (three-magnon) problem is converted to a single-particle one on a one-dimensional (two-dimensional) effective lattice whose size depends linearly (quadratically) on the total number of sites. For parameters lying within certain ranges, various types of multimagnon bound states are manifested and shown to correspond to edge states on the effective lattices. In the absence of the single-ion anisotropy, we reveal the condition under which exact zero-energy states emerge. As applications of the formalism, we calculate the transverse dynamic structure factor for a higher-spin chain near saturation magnetization and find signatures of the multimagnon bound states. We also calculate the real-time three-magnon dynamics from certain localized states, which are relevant to cold-atom quantum simulations, by simulating single-particle quantum walks on the effective lattices. This provides a physically transparent interpretation of the observed dynamics in terms of propagation of bound state excitations. Our method can be directly applied to more general spin or itinerant particle systems possessing translational symmetry., 15 pages, 10 figures, published version

In order to improve the efficiency and security of image compression-encryption algorithms, we propose a double image compression-encryption scheme based on fractional hyper-chaotic system and DNA approach. Firstly, two images are processed by discrete cosine transform. Secondly, the spectrums of the two images are sorted by Z-scan, so that the two images can be compressed and mixed into a new image. Finally, the resulting image is encrypted by using DNA coding. Different from traditional image encryption algorithms, the proposed algorithm provides a variety of DNA coding and operation modes. Chaotic sequences are used to control the coding and operation mode in order to improve the complexity of the encryption process. Fractional order and initial values of fractional order hyper-chaotic system are used as the key of the proposed algorithm, which greatly expands the complexity and the key space of the scheme. In the proposed scheme, by mixing two images and performing a compression-encryption operation on them simultaneously, the proposed algorithm can improve the complexity of encrypted images while providing good confusion. Experimental results and security analysis show that the proposed algorithm can effectively resist multiple attacks.

In this paper, we study the following fourth-order Kirchhoff-type equation $$\begin{aligned} \Delta ^{2}u-\left( a+ b\int _{\mathbb {R}^{N}}|\nabla u|^{2}dx\right) \Delta u+V(x)u=K(x)f(u), ~x~\text {in}\ \mathbb {R}^{N}, \end{aligned}$$ with the potential V(x) vanishing at infinity. Under suitable conditions, by using constraint variational method and the quantitative deformation lemma, we obtain a least energy sign-changing (or nodal) solution to this problem. Moreover, we prove that this least energy sign-changing solution has precisely two nodal domains.

The electrically-pumped terahertz quantum cascade laser (QCL) is characterized by high power emission, compact, broad frequency coverage, and so on, which shows abilities for frequency comb operations. Although free-running QCLs can work as frequency combs by designing the laser structure with small group velocity dispersions and/or inserting mirrors to compensate laser intrinsic dispersions, the ideal comb operation can only be obtained by firmly locking the repetition frequency and carrier frequency of a laser. In this work, we have reported a repetition frequency locking of a terahertz QCL emitting around 4.2 THz. When the 6-mm-long laser is operated in continuous wave mode without any locking techniques, the repetition frequency is measured to be ~6.15 GHz with a linewidth of hundred kilohertz. Once a phase lock loop (PLL) is applied to dynamically control the drive current of the QCL, we have demonstrated a successful repetition frequency locking of the laser with a signal to noise ratio of 80 dB. This technique can be employed for the frequency comb and dual-comb operations of terahertz QCLs for high-resolution applications.

Nitrogen-doped carbon materials have attracted enormous interest in catalysis owing to their outstanding catalytic performance. In this work, nitrogen-doped carbonaceous catalysts (NCC) supported on inexpensive and naturally abundant halloysite nanotubes were successfully synthesized via precipitation polymerization, calcination, and sulfonation processes. The physical and chemical properties of the obtained catalysts were systematically characterized by different methods. The results indicated that NCC catalysts had mesoporous structures, excellent thermostability and acid-base bi-functional active sites. One-pot synthesis of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from glucose was performed to investigate the synthesized NCC catalysts. Benefiting from the synergistic effects of the acid-base bi-functional active sites, the highest HMF yield (62.8%) was achieved in an isopropanol-mediated DMSO system under optimal conditions. Moderate to excellent yields of HMF were also obtained from one-pot conversions of other carbohydrates, including inulin, sucrose, cellobiose, maltose and starch, with our developed catalytic system. The one-pot production of HMF from cellulose was also smoothly processed by the NCC bi-functional catalyst in an IL-based system. This work has developed a versatile strategy for designing nitrogen-doped carbonaceous catalysts that can be employed for the direct transformation of renewable carbohydrates to platform chemicals.
