BackgroundFacial seborrheic dermatitis (FSD), also called facial seborrheic eczema, is a common disease affecting both male and female patients worldwide. Tanshinone is the main bioactive component extracted from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, which is widely used in treating skin inflammatory diseases. It is necessary to evaluate the clinical evidence for tanshinone capsule treatment of FSD. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of tanshinone capsules combined with prednisone in the treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis and to provide evidence for clinical practice.MethodsStudies were searched in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Chinese Scientific Journal Database, and WanFang Database before October 2021. We also searched for randomized controlled clinical trials (RCT) of tanshinone capsules combined with prednisone on facial seborrheic dermatitis. The meta-analysis was conducted according to the guidelines of the Cochrane Handbook. Two reviewers regulated the research selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment, respectively, and a third reviewer was used for consulting when necessary. Review Manager Software 5.3 was used for meta-analysis.ResultsA total of 10 RCTs with 916 participants were included. Nine studies reported total effectiveness, five studies reported symptom score, seven studies reported adverse events, and four studies reported recurrence rate. The duration of treatment was 4 to 8 weeks. Combination therapy showed better clinical effects compared to the prednisone (OR: 5.82; 95% CI: 3.53, 9.59; p < 0.00001). Combination therapy could repair skin lesions (MD: −0.40; 95% CI: −0.51, −0.30; p < 0.00001), reduce skin erythema (MD: −0.58, 95% CI: −0.67, −0.49; p < 0.00001), relieve skin itch (MD: −0.70; 95% CI −0.77, −0.63; p < 0.00001), and desquamation score (MD: −0.64; 95% CI: −0.71, −0.56; p < 0.00001). Furthermore, combination therapy could reduce adverse events (OR: 0.46; 95% CI: 0.26, 0.84; p = 0.01) and control recurrence rate (OR: 0.22; 95% CI: 0.13, 0.36; p < 0.00001).ConclusionsCompared with prednisone, tanshinone capsules combined with prednisone may be effective in the treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis. However, due to the high risk and ambiguity of bias in the included trials, the conclusion of this study must be interpreted carefully.

Dried ginger (DG) is the dried rhizome of Zingiber offcinale Rosc. (Fam. Zingiberaceae), Ginger charcoal (GC) is the processed products of DG, due to the difficulty in controlling the processing degree, unqualified processed products (light carbonized ginger, LCG; heavy carbonized ginger, HCG) often appear, which can both affect clinical efficacy. To ensure the quality and safety of DG and its processed products, this paper mainly focused on the feasibility of rapidly determining the quality of DG and its processed products by benchtop-NIR spectrometer and Micro-NIR spectrometer. A total of 100 samples were scanned by benchtop-NIR spectrometer and Micro-NIR spectrometer respectively. The collected NIRS data were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed by different models. The partial least squares discriminant models established based on the benchtop-NIR and Micro-NIR spectroscopy both have a discrimination rate of 100% for the prediction set. Three characteristic wavelength selection methods (CARS, VCPA-IRIV and VCPA-GA) were used to improve the performance of partial least squares regression model. The results showed that the benchtop-NIR model with the wavelength selected by the CARS algorithm performed best, and the Micro-NIR model performance of the characteristic wavelength selected by the VCPA-IRIV algorithm had a better prediction ability. The consistency evaluation of the prediction models showed that the two instruments had a very good coherence except for the zingerone model. Therefore, A micro-NIR spectrometer combined with an appropriate wavelength selection method can precisely distinguish DG, LCG, MCG and HCG from each other and accurately determine the five gingerol compounds in DG and its processed products.

Objective To examine the neuroprotective effect of extract from Naomaitong following focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion induced by occlusion of middle cerebral artery (MCA), and to determine the biochemical alterations in urine using proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and principal component analysis. Methods Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups: sham-operated group, MCA focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion model group, and active extract of Naomaitong treatment group. The model was established by an improved MCA occlusion (MCAO) method. Sham-operated rats received the same surgical procedure, but without occlusion. The Naomaitong treatment group were treated with active extract from Naomaitong at a dose of 3.0 g·kg −1 ·d −1 . Brain tissues and urine samples were collected from all groups for histopathological assessment and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy-based metabonomics, respectively. Results Hematoxylin-eosin and triphenyl tetrazolium chloride staining of brain tissues showed a significant decrease in cerebral infarction area in the Naomaitong group. In model rats, metabonomic analyses showed increased urinary levels of glutamate, taurine, trimetlylamine oxide, betaine, and glycine, and reduced levels of creatinine and creatine. Naomaitong regulated the metabolic changes by acting on multiple metabolic pathways, including glycine metabolism, glutaminolysis, transmethylation metabolism and creatinine metabolism. Conclusion These data demonstrate that extract from Naomaitong is neuroprotective against focal cerebral ischemia induced by MCAO, and can alleviate biochemical changes in urinary metabolism. Metabonomics may be a useful approach for assessing the biochemical mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective actions of extract from Naomaitong.

Background: Objective to investigate the needs of junior high school students for injury prevention awareness and emergency skills education, so as to provide reference basis for junior high school students to carry out injury prevention work. Methods: A total of 1079 vocational middle school students were selected by stratified cluster sampling. The content of the questionnaire includes: basic demographic information, cognition of injury-related risk factors, demand for injury prevention education, mastery of first aid skills, etc. Results: 76.2% believed that there were potential risk factors leading to injury accidents in life, 397 (36.8%) chose yes, rarely, 303 (28.1%) chose yes, generally, and 122 (11.3%) chose yes, many .Among the places considered most vulnerable to injury, the top five were road/street, off-campus sports ground, business district, school and residential district, with 79.1%, 41.6%, 33.1%, 29.2% and 19.6% respectively. The potential risk factors considered by students are divided into four aspects. The proportion of vocational middle school students in the judgment and selection of potential risk factors are lack of safety awareness (54.9%) and excessive learning pressure (41.2%) respectively. Parents ignore their children (34.0%) and family relationship is not harmonious (31.3%) were the top two risk factors for potential injury to the family. The top two risk factors for potential injury in schools were bad school atmosphere (37.7%) and lack of school safety education (36.9%).For potential hazardous environmental factors, unsafe road environment (64.8%) and unsafe sports facilities (44.8%) ranked top two.89.0% of the students think it necessary to attend schools or other institutions to carry out safety education or activity, hope schools provide injury prevention education aspect, the top six were bullying (85.6%), food hygiene (80.3%), traffic injuries (74.4%), fraud (65.1%), electric shock (65.1%) and first aid (63.5%), especially the bullying of these safety education.78.9% of the students said they had received first aid training, and CPR (86.5%), first aid for drowning (49.4%), bandaging (42.2%) and hemostasis (42.0%) were the top four first aid skills of the middle school students surveyed. The most common reasons for not mastering first aid skills were forgetting after learning (33.5%) and too short training time (29.7%). Conclusions: Junior high school students need to improve their education on potential injury risk factors in life and emergency treatment in the face of injury.It is necessary to carry out injury prevention and emergency skills education among high school students in vocational schools. Precipitation is one of the major determinants of soil moisture in plantations growing in the saline-alkali soil in the Yellow River Delta. The present study was conducted on a 28-yr old Robiniapseudoacacia plantation, a major vegetation type of the Yellow River Delta, and the results indicated strong seasonal patterns in soil moisture, salt, nutrient and enzyme activities at varying depths with respect to annual precipitation. Soil moisture during the growing season of March to October fluctuated drastically in response to precipitation events and was generally higher than that from November to February. Furthermore, soil water content in the 0-60 cm soil layer was positively correlated with precipitation during the same period but not for the value in the 60-80 cm soil layer. Salt content in different soil layers increased gradually from November to February, decreased from February to September and then increased in October. Precipitation was strongly and negatively correlated with soil salt content in different soil layers (except 20-40 cm). Soil enzymes became less active and soil nutrient contents decreased with soil depth, though different enzymes and nutrients showed seasonal variations. The activity of polyphenol oxidase increased in spring, reached the maximum values in June, and decreased in later months. The activity of alkaline phosphatase, proteinase and urease fluctuated throughout the growing season, with the maximum values in October. Available phosphorous increased in the early months and decreased after August, whereas available potassium, hydrolysable nitrogen and organic substances content in soil gradually increased throughout. Therefore, it is suggested that precipitation is the crucial limiting factor to tree growth through impacts on soil moisture, salt, nutrient and enzyme activities in saline-alkali soils in the Yellow River Delta. This paper studies factors influencing rural-urban labor migration in China, particularly the implementation of rural cooperative medical insurance (RCMI) in the year 2003. With the support of data analysis from the year 2000, 2004 and 2006, clear linear correlations are found between gender, income, health condition and rural-urban labor flow, whereas the impact of education and employment status are more complicated. More importantly, results from regression show that the establishment of RCMI in countryside of China not only inhibits rural residents from seeking employment outside the village, but also pulls back rural people who have already worked in cities. When regional dimension is concerned, the pure composite effect of RCMI on rural labor flow is less significant in coastal areas with better economic performance and medical service.

Objective Iron regulatory hormone hepcidin is possible to be possibly involved in the physiological function of heart and pathogenesis of heart disease. The current paper reports the establishment of heart specific Hepc1 transgenic mice and analysis of the effect of Hepc1 on the development of dilated cardiomyopathy in the cTnT R141W transgenic mice. Methods The heart specific Hepc1 transgenic mice were generated by the method of microinjection and the target gene was under the control of α-MHC promoter. The expression level of the gene Hepc1 was determined by RT-PCR and slot blotting. The Hepc1×cTnT R141W double transgenic mice were generated by breeding the Hepc1 transgenic mice with cTnT R141W transgenic mice. The structural and functional changes of the transgenic heart were analysed with M-mode echocardiography. Survival data were recorded from 1 month to 7 months (the 1 st to the 7 th month) postnatally. The histological and subcellular changes were observed under light microscope and transmission electronic microscope. The accumulation of phos-ERK1/2 and ERK1/2 in wild type, Hepc1, cTnT R141W and Hepc1×cTnT R141W transgenic mice were determined by western blotting. Phos-ERK1/2 expression was also detected in H9c2 cell line, H9c2 cell line treated with desferrioxamine (50 μmol/l), H9c2 cell lines expressing Hepc1 protein and H9c2 cell lines expressing Hepc1 protein treated with ferric ammonium citrate (100 μmol/l). Results 2 heart specific Hepc1 transgenic mice lines were established. Hepc1 transgenic mice demonstrated no signs of cardiomyopathy or lethality up to 7 months of age. The immature death rate was 18% before 7 months of age in the cTnT R141W mice, while Hepc1×cTnT R141W transgenic mice showed a lower immature death (10%). Hepc1×cTnT R141W transgenic mice showed a smaller ventricular chamber, improved left ventricular systolic function, and ameliorated interstitial fibrosis, compared with (to) cTnT R141W transgenic mice. ERK1/2 phosphorylation was strongly decreased in cTnT R141W transgenic mice compared with (to) WT mice, while it was significantly increased in the Hepc1×cTnT R141W transgenic mice compared with (to) cTnT R141W transgenic mice. Both desferrioxamine, an iron chelator and the gene Hepc1 significantly increased ERK1/2 phosphorylation in H9c2 cell line. Conclusions Hepc1 showed a marked improvement on (in) the pathologic phenotype of DCM in cTnT R141W transgenic mice, in which ERK1/2 signal pathway may play an important role. Hepc1 may be a new target in the treatment of human dilated cardiomyopathy.
