Ultracold atom arrays in optical lattices emerge as an excellent playground for the integration of topological photonics and quantum optics. Here, we study high-order topological quantum optics in an ultracold atom metasurface intended to mimic the two-dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model. We find the existence of long-range interactions beyond nearest-neighbor ones leads to isolated corner states in the band gap, and show a corner atom can be addressed by a laser drive far away from it via these nontrivial states. We demonstrate the Purcell factor can be used as a powerful tool to examine the existence of topological edge and corner states. We predict topological edge states can mediate strong coherent interactions between two remote impurity quantum emitters while suppressing dissipative losses thanks to the higher-order topology, generating robust and long-lived quantum entanglement, without the need for additional photonic structures., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures with an 11-page Supplementary Material

Understanding light-matter interaction in disordered photonic media allows people to manipulate light scattering and achieve exciting applications using seemingly scrambled media. As the concentration of scattering particles rises, they are inclined to step into near fields of each other in deep subwavelength scale. The fundamental physics involving the interplay between disorder and near-field interaction (NFI) is still not fully understood. We theoretically examine the role of NFI by analyzing the underlying multiple scattering mechanism. We find NFI leads to a stronger collective behavior involving more particles and widens the photonic pseudo-bandgap of disordered media. It also excites more weakly decayed longitudinal modes and results in higher local density of states. By introducing a sticky short-range order, we demonstrate the possibility of enhancing off-momentum-shell NFI of multiple scattering process. Angular distribution of the 12C(7Li,6He)13N reaction at E(7Li) = 44.0 MeV was measured at the HI-13 tandem accelerator of Beijing, China. Asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) of 13N = 12C + p was derived to be 1.64 $\pm$ 0.11 fm$^{-1/2}$ through distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) analysis. The ANC was then used to deduce the astrophysical $S(E)$ factors and reaction rates for direct capture in 12C(p,g)13N at energies of astrophysical relevance., Comment: 13 pages, 4 figues, submitted to Nucl.
