The data on the first finds in the Udmurt Republic (and the East of European Russia as a whole) of a dangerous invasive species of bark beetle of the Far Eastern origin, Polygraphus proximus Blandford, 1894, are presented. The species was discovered in 2019 simultaneously in four districts (Zavyalovsky, Malopurginsky, Kiyasovsky, and Sarapulsky) of the central and southern parts of the republic. The established areas damaged by the Polygraphus proximus of forest stands are located both near railway tracks and highways and in the depths of natural forests in which Siberian fir grows (Abies sibirica Ledeb.), which indicates a long-term hidden invasion of the pest and its adaptation in Udmurtia. A further outbreak of the pest can lead to catastrophic consequences for forests with the participation of fir in the region. In addition, in the stands damaged by the Polygraphus proximus, an increase in the number of local species of longhorn beetles, associated with fir, is possible. In connection with the extreme potential harmfulness of this invader, it is necessary to carry out sanitary and restoration activities in order to localize and eliminate the identified outbreak foci of the pest, as well as to clarify the forest areas occupied by Polygraphus proximus on the territory of the Udmurt Republic and adjacent regions, with introduction of quarantine and monitoring measures.

To study characteristics of maternal behavior in women with epilepsy.Twenty-three women with epilepsy, aged 25-35 years, with one or more children, aged 0-10 years, were interviewed. Thirty age-matched women were included in the control group. The following psychological methods were used: the projective test 'Mother and Child', the Scale of the degree of rejection of a child in the family, the Parent Institution Study Test Questionnaire (PARI), the projective methodology 'Unfinished sentences', a method for diagnosing the level of empathic abilities.The style of child upbringing in women with epilepsy is authoritarian, directive. Often there is egocentrism, fixation on one's own behalf, internal coldness. Mothers with epilepsy have a reduced level of empathy and are irritable, anxious, hyperopic, indulgent, emotionally cold, hypochondriac, uncritical, dependent, devout, conceited.Цель исследования. Выявление особенностей материнского поведения у больных эпилепсией женщин. Материал и методы. Опрошены 23 женщины, страдающие эпилепсией, в возрасте 25-35 лет, имеющие одного или нескольких детей в возрасте 0-10 лет. Группу сравнения составили 30 здоровых матерей соответственного возраста. Психологическое обследование проводилось с помощью проективных тестов ('Мать и дитя', шкала степени отверженности ребенка в семье, тест-опросник изучения родительских установок), проективных методик 'неоконченные предложения', 'методика диагностики уровня эмпатических способностей'. Результаты и заключение. Стиль материнского воспитания у больных эпилепсией женщин носит авторитарный, директивный характер. Часто встречаются эгоцентризм, фиксация на собственных интересах, внутренняя холодность. Пациентки обладают сниженным уровнем эмпатии, их можно охарактеризовать как раздражительных, тревожных, гиперопекающих, потворствующих, эмоционально холодных, ипохондричных, некритичных, зависимых, набожных, тщеславных.

Aim. To study the effects of trimetazidine MB therapy on the clinical manifestations and markers of endothelial dysfunction and systemic inflammation in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Material and methods. This open, comparative, randomised parallel-group study included 60 patients with a verified ACS diagnosis (34 men and 26 women, aged 40–84 years). All participants were randomised into two treatment groups: the main group receiving trimetazidine MB (PreductalMB) 35 mg twice a day, and the control group receiving standard therapy but not trimetazidine MB. The examination included electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, 24-hour ECG monitoring, and chest X-ray. Results. After 3 months of the treatment, the main group demonstrated a significant reduction in the incidence and duration of anginal attacks (–58% and –42%, respectively), as well as in the weekly nitrate intake (–66%). There was a nonsignificant (possibly, due a relatively small sample size) tendency towards a reduction in the severity of anginal attacks (–36%). The control group demonstrated a less prominent dynamics of clinical parameters: the incidence of anginal attacks decreased by 21%, the weekly nitrate intake by 20%, and the duration and severity of anginal attacks only by 6%. Conclusion. The combination of trimetazidine MB with the standard ACS therapy improves the treatment effectiveness, in terms of the anginal syndrome manifestations and endothelial function stabilisation, as suggested by a significant reduction in von Willebrand factor and endothelin levels, compared to the control group.

Cross-correlation, coherent, and factor analyses of the EEG were used to detect disturbances of spatial organization of brain bioelectric activity, with certain specific features determined by concomitant anxiety and asthenia syndromes in 20 patients with various clinical forms of neurotic depression. In the group of patients with dominance of the depressive syndrome without marked symptoms of asthenia or anxiety, opposite changes in the anterior areas of the right and left hemispheres were found; the interregional relationships of the EEG of anterior areas of the right hemisphere were decreased as compared to the norm, while the normal level of systemic interaction of bioelectric potentials of the cortex of the left hemisphere was increased. In patients with the depressive syndrome combined with increased anxiety, as well as in patients with distinct asthenic symptoms, a considerable decrease in the level of interregional interactions of bioelectric potentials in frontal regions of the cortex of both hemispheres was detected. This was accompanied by an increase, as compared to the norm, of the level of distant relationships of the EEG in posterotemporal, parietal, and occipital regions. The data indicate that, in the case of neurotic depression, irrespective of concomitant anxiety and asthenia syndromes, there is transient inhibition of the functional activity of frontal regions along with an increased rigidity of systemic interactions of the posterior regions of the cortex of both hemispheres. This suggests that neurotic depression is accompanied by dysfunction of intercortical and cortical-subcortical integration, which causes a disturbance of the systemic organization of ordered interactions of the activity of the anterior and posterior regions of both hemispheres, with certain specific features in patients of each group.

The formation of the institute NII-9 (now the State Science Center of the Russian Federation—A. A. Bochvar All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute of Standardization in Machine Engineering), by a decree of the State Committee on Defense, in 1945 in Moscow and the production at this Institute in 1948 of substantial (milligram) quantities of metallic plutonium from uranium blocks irradiated in the F-1 reactor are recounted. Data on the organization of the work and the creation of special equipment and methods for performing investigations on microsamples of a radioactive, toxic, chemically active material are presented. These investigations led to the discovery of six allotropic modifications of plutonium the temperature ranges of their stability, the melting temperature, the characteristic features of the volume and temperature expansion at phase transitions, and the mechanical properties of the phases.

A method of annealing uranium which produces a fine-grained, quasi-isotropic structure is described. It is shown that the strength of uranium can be improved by annealing from the β- and γ-phases, and the influence of annealing on the fine and coarse grain structure, depending on the chemical composition, is considered. The creep of uranium in the range of temperatures of the α-phase is investigated.

Data are presented on the variations in dimensions and form of uranium specimens during irradiation. It is shown that by regulating the composition of the uranium and treatment conditions (degree of deformation in the α-region and heat-treatment conditions), in consequence of variation in grain size and texture, it is possible to vary within wide limits the magnitude of surface distortion due to irradiation and the value of Gi.
