We apply a coctel of elementary methods to the problem of finding the roots of an arbitrary polynomial. Specifically, we combine properties of the iteration z → z2 + c with rudimentary Galois theory in order to justify an algorithm to find the roots of a complex polynomial.

7. A Case Report of Tuberous Sclerosis and Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease in the Era of Tolvaptan

Background: Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) may coexist with other genetic disorders, such as tuberous sclerosis, when deletion in TSC2/PKD1 genes occurs. Recently, the effect of tolvaptan has been explored in ADPKD patients alone, but its safety and efficacy on TSC2/PKD1 contiguous gene syndrome is unknown. Case Presentation: This report describes the case of an asymptomatic patient with TSC2/PKD1 contiguous gene syndrome that fulfills the imaging criteria for initiating the treatment with tolvaptan. After twelve months, the patient did not exhibit severe adverse effects and blood pressure control improved. Conclusion: In this TSC2/PKD1 contiguous gene syndrome single case report, tolvaptan was safe and well-tolerated. More extensive experimental studies are needed to deeply understand the therapeutic implications of vasopressin V2-receptor inhibition in the TSC2/PKD1 contiguous gene syndrome patients.

8. Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Case Report of an Adjuvant Ambulatory Therapy for a COVID-19 High-Risk and Steroid-hypersensitive Patients

Introduction: Due to the rapid progression of COVID-19 to severe and critical stages, thousands of patients have required the use of intensive care unit (ICU) treatment, placing an excessive strain on health systems. Immunomodulatory effects of Wharton’s Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells (WJ-MSCs) have shown promising results in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. However, the effect of promptly applied cell therapy on ambulatory patient prognosis has not been described. This case report presents the clinical outcome of a multimorbid, steroid-hypersensitive, COVID-19 patient treated with WJ-MSCs transplantation. Case Presentation: A 67-year-old woman with Type 2 diabetes, overweight (82 kg, 168 cm, BMI = 29.053), hypertension (190/60 mmHg) and steroid-hypersensitivity, tested positive for COVID-19 after presenting typical symptoms such as fatigue, chest pain, myalgia, nasal congestion, dysgeusia, anosmia and oxygen saturation (SpO2) 94% - 96%, with normal body temperature (36°C). The patient received pharmacologic treatment but, when symptoms worsened, WJ-MSCs were transplanted to modulate the suspected onset of the cytokine release syndrome. Significant improvement of symptoms and clinical parameters (inflammatory markers and CT score) was observed, and the patient fully recovered within a short period of time. Conclusion: The present case report exhibits the favorable outcome of using Wharton’s Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells (WJ-MSCs) as an ambulatory and adjuvant therapy for COVID-19. Prompt WJ-MSCs infusion can be a safe ambulatory adjuvant therapy in COVID-19 infection care, preventing disease progression to critical stages and avoiding hospital overcrowding.

Introduction Acute kidney injury (AKI) has been identified as one of the most common and significant problems in hospitalized patients with COVID-19. However, studies examining the relationship between COVID-19 and AKI in low- and low-middle income countries (LLMIC) are lacking. Given that AKI is known to carry a higher mortality rate in these countries, it is important to understand differences in this population. Methods This prospective, observational study examines the AKI incidence and characteristics of 32,210 patients with COVID-19 from 49 countries across all income levels who were admitted to an intensive care unit during their hospital stay. Results Among patients with COVID-19 admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), AKI incidence was highest in patients in LLMIC, followed by patients in upper-middle income countries (UMIC) and high-income countries (HIC) (53%, 38%, and 30%, respectively), whereas dialysis rates were lowest among patients with AKI from LLMIC and highest among those from HIC (27% vs. 45%). Patients with AKI in LLMIC had the largest proportion of community-acquired AKI (CA-AKI) and highest rate of in-hospital death (79% vs. 54% in HIC and 66% in UMIC). The association between AKI, being from LLMIC and in-hospital death persisted even after adjusting for disease severity. Conclusions AKI is a particularly devastating complication of COVID-19 among patients from poorer nations where the gaps in accessibility and quality of healthcare delivery have a major impact on patient outcomes.

Introducción: la neopterina y la procalcitonina son marcadores inmunoquímicos que pueden ser útiles para el seguimiento de las enfermedades inflamatorias. Se ha identificado en el contenido sérico en situaciones en las que el sistema inmunitario está siendo activado por células. Objetivo: describir la neopterina y procalcitonia como predictor de sepsis. Materiales y métodos: es un estudio de revisión bibliográfica con uso de los descriptores de la salud que permitió localizar las palabras claves, con el objetivo de buscar específicamente literatura basada en la evidencia en las diferentes bases de datos como: Google Scholar,Scielo, Scopus, Pubmed. Resultados: se encontró que ambos biomarcadores tienen una sensibilidad y especificidad parecida en patologías como: sepsis y la infección de la inflamación sistémica. Conclusión: tanto la neopterina como la procalcitonina son indicadores inespecíficos de inflamación, que pueden ser útiles para el seguimiento de un proceso infeccioso.

Experiments and observations suggest that they contribute to terrestrial soil biodiversity and function, yet their ecological contribution to soil has never been assessed globally under natural conditions. Here we conducted the most comprehensive global standardized field study to quantify how soil mosses influence 8 ecosystem services associated with 24 soil biodiversity and functional attributes across wide environmental gradients from all continents. We found that soil mosses are associated with greater carbon sequestration, pool sizes for key nutrients and organic matter decomposition rates but a lower proportion of soil-borne plant pathogens than unvegetated soils. Mosses are especially important for supporting multiple ecosystem services where vascular-plant cover is low. Globally, soil mosses potentially support 6.43 Gt more carbon in the soil layer than do bare soils. The amount of soil carbon associated with mosses is up to six times the annual global carbon emissions from any altered land use globally. The largest positive contribution of mosses to soils occurs under a high cover of mat and turf mosses, in less-productive ecosystems and on sandy and salty soils. Background and objective: primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCL) are uncommon. Observations based on the first year of data from the Spanish Registry of Primary Cutaneous Lymphomas (RELCP, in its Spanish abbreviation) of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) were published in February 2018. This report covers RELCP data for the first 5 years. Patients and methods: RELCP data were collected prospectively and included diagnosis, treatments, tests, and the current status of patients. We compiled descriptive statistics of the data registered during the first 5 years. Results: information on 2020 patients treated at 33 Spanish hospitals had been included in the RELCP by December 2021. Fifty-nine percent of the patients were men; the mean age was 62.2 years. The lymphomas were grouped into 4 large diagnostic categories: mycosis fungoides/Sézary syndrome, 1112 patients (55%); primary B-cell cutaneous lymphoma, 547 patients (27.1%); primary CD30+lymphoproliferative disorders, 222 patients (11%), and other T-cell lymphomas, 116 patients (5.8%). Nearly 75% of the tumors were registered in stage I. After treatment, 43.5% achieved complete remission and 27% were stable at the time of writing. Treatments prescribed were topical corticosteroids (1369 [67.8%]), phototherapy (890 patients [44.1%]), surgery (412 patients [20.4%]), and radiotherapy (384 patients [19%]). Conclusion: the characteristics of cutaneous lymphomas in Spain are similar to those reported for other series. The large size of the RELCP registry at 5 years has allowed us to give more precise descriptive statistics than in the first year. This registry facilitates the clinical research of the AEDV's lymphoma interest group, which has already published articles based on the RELCP data.

El objetivo fue analizar la evolución del libro, desde la arcilla a la innovación de la computadora que modifica el formato electrónico, el estado del arte es una muestra cualitativa e interpretativa documental de las posibilidades y limitaciones sobre las nuevas opciones para producir el conocimiento. Entre las conclusiones se destaca que el estado del arte es una metodología de investigación cualitativa documental de carácter crítico interpretativa para revisar los formatos del libro, los obstáculos a que se enfrentan los investigadores para publicar.

El presente estudio tiene el propósito de dar a conocer las principales variables demográficas, comerciales y organolépticas que influyen de manera directa en el consumo de vinos de frutas, producidos en el Occidente del país. Las tendencias cambiantes de los compradores han provocado que el consumo de vinos haya crecido en Honduras, en conjunto con su producción, motivo por el cual existe un nicho para su comercialización regional. Entre los resultados se observó que la mayor frecuencia de consumo de vino de acuerdo a la investigación en el caso de las mujeres el 92% lo consume, en el caso de los hombres 90% consume la bebidas fermentadas como ser el vino de fruta, Así mismo las propiedades organolépticas, según los datos estudiados el sabor es una de las cualidades sápidas más determinantes para la compra de un vino, el diseño del producto debe ser con corcho, utilizar botella oscura y capsula termo adheridle, de igual manera se considera una bebida tradicional, que además su consumo aporta beneficio a la salud humana, finalmente los resultados son halagadores un 74% de los consumidores les es atractivo apoyar un emprendedor local y un 26% prefieren la calidad de los vinos importados.

Exercise; Older adults; Sleep quality Ejercicio; Adultos mayores; Calidad de sueño Exercici; Adults grans; Qualitat del son Background: Given the beneficial effects of exercise in different populations and the close relationship between healthy ageing and sleep quality, our objective was to determine if physical exercise delivered through a structured program improves sleep quality in older adults. Methods: Embase, PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Register of Clinical Trials (CENTRAL) were searched to 15 January 2023. Studies that applied physical exercise programs in older adults were reviewed. Two independent reviewers analysed the studies, extracted the data, and assessed the quality of evidence. Results: Of the 2599 reports returned by the initial search, 13 articles reporting on 2612 patients were included in the data synthesis. The articles used interventions based on yoga (n = 5), multicomponent exercise (n = 3), walking (n = 2), cycling (n = 1), pilates (n = 1), elastic bands (n = 1), and healthy beat acupunch (n = 1). In the intervention group, we found significant improvement in Pittsburgh sleep quality index of −2.49 points (95% CI −3.84 to −1.14) in comparison to the control group (p = 0.0003) and sleep efficiency measured with objective instruments (MD 1.18%, 95% CI 0.86 to 1.50%, p < 0.0001). Conclusion: Our results found that physical exercise programs in older adults improve sleep quality and efficiency measured with objective instruments.

This research arose from the academy, with the purpose of making scientific contributions to the country's coffee sector, and determining the yield of processed coffee by studying yields, in two compact ecological milling centers in Honduras, in Matazano, Pinabetal, Talgua Lempira and El Pinal, San Juan de Opoa,,Copán. In addition, to know the volume and/or measure when receiving cherry or grape coffee, and in order to produce coffee that has a moisture percentage between (11 - 12) %. Obtaining the following results for a dry parchment coffee, samples from a standard plant < 900 masl 19% yield, Composition of the High Grown coffee bean "900-1200 masl" with 21% and Composition of the Stricty High Grown coffee bean > 1200 masl, averaging for all altitudinal floors of 21% CPS, yields for producer gold yield averages of 18% for standard plant, High Grown coffee 18% and Strictly High Grown coffee 19%. Respectively for gold exportable according to cupping laboratory analysis 15% average weight in the three different altitudinal floors. Likewise, the samples of the different altitudinal floors were sensory evaluated, with the purpose of determining the quality of the coffee, finding scores of 82.5% in the standard central coffee, 84.5% in High Grown coffee and 89.5% Stricty High Grown coffee, likewise in accordance with a systematization process found in the compact ecological process, the document characterized wet and dry processing throughout the coffee supply chain. Finally, in the measurement of the yields of the green bean, it was determined by analysis of variance and Duncan's separation test that there are significant differences between the three types of altitudinal floors (masl) evaluated, and each evaluated height has different yields of dry where a directly proportional relationship between height and coffee weight yield is denoted.

22. Formación ética en escuelas de negocios: un debate que no avanza

Los escándalos corporativos de principios del siglo XXI (Enron, Worldcom, subprime) generaron crisis económicas globales. Cuando poderosos graduados de reconocidas escuelas de negocios fueron responsabilizados por la opinión pública, surgió la pregunta de si la formación ética que recibieron de estas instituciones había sido insuficiente. Analizamos las tendencias de la literatura académica reciente (2012-2022) sobre las propuestas para mejorar la enseñanza ética en las escuelas de negocios. A partir de una revisión sistemática de la literatura (revistas Q1 y Q2 en Scopus y Web of Science - WOS) clasificamos los artículos en cinco categorías, dependiendo de dónde acentuaban su diagnóstico y sus propuestas: 1) factores externos: reguladores y acreditadores, presiones del mercado, opinión pública y rankings (clasificaciones); 2) factores transversales: conceptos de base y valores del entorno, misión e identidad institucional, estrategia y oferta de valor; 3) factores de entrada: directivos, claustro académico y estudiantes; 4) factores de proceso: currículo y formato, pedagogía, contenido y materiales de enseñanza; y 5) factores de salida: graduados, publicaciones académicas, sellos de calidad. Los resultados indican que el interés en esta discusión decayó. Predominaron las propuestas de cambios curriculares, con rediseño de cursos y nuevas propuestas pedagógicas, y enfocados en ciertos factores transversales, como ajustar la misión y los objetivos institucionales, en respuesta al compromiso que muchas instituciones asumieron al firmar los Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) de Naciones Unidas. Se discute si este cambio fue más “cosmético” que una transformación integral de la oferta educativa, incapaz de vencer las barreras existentes para mejorar la enseñanza ética de los profesionales.

La perspectiva del docente en la aplicación de las TIC al proceso cognitivo del estudiante en la educación superior tecnológica del Ecuador ha sido poco estudiada. Como objetivo de este trabajo se busca relacionar estas dos variables (teniendo presente su uso, su funcionabilidad y la percepción sobre las mismas) con la actividad cognitiva del estudiante. La metodología empleada fue la cualitativa, desarrollado como un estudio no experimental, de corte transversal y una muestra poblacional a conveniencia, se empleó el método de juicio de expertos para validar el constructo desarrollado, además de valorar la objetividad y el contenido del instrumento, para lo cual se empleó el criterio de coincidencia, la fiabilidad de la encuesta se midió mediante el estadístico Alfa de Cronbach, la correlación de las variables se realizó mediante el uso de las tablas cruzadas y el estadístico Chicuadrado. Se concluye que los docentes que tienen más experiencia adaptan mejor el uso de las TIC como herramientas para lograr mejoras significativas en el proceso cognitivo de los estudiantes. Los jóvenes docentes (de menos de 3 años) también se adaptan al uso de las TIC en su trabajo diario, mientras el estrato de antigüedad de 4 a 7 años se halla dividido en opinión a esta hipótesis.

- Abstract
Introducción. La presente investigación está enfocada en el cantón Baños, puesto que se considera que la melcocha íntegramente forma parte de la gastronomía debido a que existen diferentes diseños, formas, texturas, tamaños, colores y sabores. Por esta razón se puede caracterizar a este producto como muy versátil, al mismo se le puede sacar mucho provecho y expandir una gran variedad en cuanto a generar algo nuevo y único que atrae al turista, logrando así que se pueda gestionar y aumentar las ventas debido a la atracción que produce el mismo en una de las ciudades más turísticas del Ecuador. Objetivo. Generar una propuesta de turismo vivencial basado en una ruta de la melcocha como producto gastronómico del cantón Baños. Metodología. Se desarrolla una investigación descriptiva, el cual se basa principalmente en describir características, recopilar y resaltar las cualidades de dicho fenómeno, debido a que se desea resaltar el valor gastronómico que posee la melcocha del cantón Baños y así generar una base para llamar la atención del turista y motivarlo a realizar un turismo vivencial. Resultados. La melcocha es un dulce representativo de la ciudad, debido a que éste llegara a definir las cualidades tanto del turismo vivencial en la experiencia para turistas que desean conocer el proceso de este manjar. Conclusión. Las rutas gastronómicas centran de manera prioritaria la idea de este nuevo tipo de turismo basadas en las experiencias inolvidables que promuevan el turismo en la ciudad.

Matrix-Vector Multiplications (MVMs) represent a heavy workload for both training and inference in Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) applications. Analog In-memory Computing (AIMC) systems based on Phase Change Memory (PCM) has been shown to be a valid competitor to enhance the energy efficiency of DNN accelerators. Although DNNs are quite resilient to computation inaccuracies, PCM non-idealities could strongly affect MVM operations precision, and thus the accuracy of DNNs. In this paper, a combined hardware and software solution to mitigate the impact of PCM non-idealities is presented. The drift of PCM cells conductance is compensated at the circuit level through the introduction of a conductance ratio at the core of the MVM computation. A model of the behaviour of PCM cells is employed to develop a device-aware training for DNNs and the accuracy is estimated in a CIFAR-10 classification task. This work is supported by a PCM-based AIMC prototype, designed in a 90-nm STMicroelectronics technology, and conceived to perform Multiply-and-Accumulate (MAC) computations, which are the kernel of MVMs. Results show that the MAC computation accuracy is around 95% even under the effect of cells drift. The use of a device-aware DNN training makes the networks less sensitive to weight variability, with a 15% increase in classification accuracy over a conventionally-trained Lenet-5 DNN, and a 36% gain when drift compensation is applied.

Background: We aim to assess whether time of day modified the treatment effect in the RACECAT trial (Direct Transfer to an Endovascular Center Compared to Transfer to the Closest Stroke Center in Acute Stroke Patients With Suspected Large Vessel Occlusion Trial), a cluster-randomized trial that did not demonstrate the benefit of direct transportation to a thrombectomy-capable center versus nearest local stroke center for patients with a suspected large vessel stroke triaged in nonurban Catalonia between March 2017 and June 2020. Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of RACECAT to evaluate if the association between initial transport routing and functional outcome differed according to trial enrollment time: daytime (8:00 am –8:59 pm ) and nighttime (9:00 pm –7:59 am ). Primary outcome was disability at 90 days, as assessed by the shift analysis on the modified Rankin Scale score, in patients with ischemic stroke. Subgroup analyses according to stroke subtype were evaluated. Results: We included 949 patients with an ischemic stroke, of whom 258 patients(27%) were enrolled during nighttime. Among patients enrolled during nighttime, direct transport to a thrombectomy-capable center was associated with lower degrees of disability at 90 days (adjusted common odds ratio [acOR], 1.620 [95% CI, 1.020–2.551]); no significant difference between trial groups was present during daytime (acOR, 0.890 [95% CI, 0.680–1.163]; P interaction =0.014). Influence of nighttime on the treatment effect was only evident in patients with large vessel occlusion(daytime, acOR 0.766 [95% CI, 0.548–1.072]; nighttime, acOR, 1.785 [95% CI, 1.024–3.112] ; P interaction P interaction >0.1 for all comparisons). We observed longer delays in alteplase administration, interhospital transfers, and mechanical thrombectomy initiation during nighttime in patients allocated to local stroke centers. Conclusions: Among patients evaluated during nighttime for a suspected acute severe stroke in non-urban areas of Catalonia, direct transport to a thrombectomy-capable center was associated with lower degrees of disability at 90 days. This association was only evident in patients with confirmed large vessel occlusion on vascular imaging. Time delays in alteplase administration and interhospital transfers might mediate the observed differences in clinical outcome. This study analyzes the narrated reflection of the students in relation to their learning, based on the perceptions that emerge from their experience in the development of the project. Participants were 53 fourth year Pedagogy in Physical Education students, with an average age of 24.3, who were divided into 13 groups. A qualitative study that used the narrated reflection of the students in relation to learning, based on a driving question. In order to help guide the students’ work, and to collect the perceptions they experienced during their participation, the following four components were integrated into the development of the project and included in the final product: a) historical and heritage sites, b) technology used to measure energy expenditure, c) type of active commuting, d) reflection on what was learned. The students designed 13 routes of active commuting through the city, which included different cultural, heritage and historical landmarks. The students analyzed the learning experience, highlighting the importance of knowing and caring for the heritage of the different cities around which they traveled. PBL can be a didactic alternative in initial Physical Education teacher training to achieve learning by linking subject content with the motivations and interests of the students.

Abstract: A new series of metallophthalocyanines (MPc) containing metals such as : Zn (II), Cu (II) and, Pd (II) were designed, synthesized, and characterized, using MS, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. A Suzuki cross-coupling reaction was investigated by using the Pd(dppf)Cl2 as a catalyst and cesium carbonate as a base to improve the yield of the precursor 2.6-di(pyridin-3-yl)- phenyl benzyl ether. The changes of metals, substituents, and positions increases the Q-band value from the monosubstituted to the octa-substituted macrocycles, and from Pd, to Cu to Zn complexes. All MPc showed quite similar IR spectra.

Background: Understanding how people respond to societal problems requires analyzing the experience and expression of moral emotions (ME). Despite the fact that various research on moral emotions have been conducted in Latin America, this analysis has yet to be completed, despite the fact that it is particularly important due to its link to violence and inequality. Methods: The goal of this paper is to evaluate ME research in Latin America and discuss it within the context of a socio-cultural and socio-economic analysis of this region of the world. The PRISMA searching method was applied in Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scielo, and Redalyc databases Results: The findings revealed 58 publications in Latin America that dealt with moral feelings and were consequently studied. Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile are the countries that have tackled the issue the most. Compassion, devotion, and gratitude were the three most explored MS and associated themes. Conclusion: The impact of moral emotions on persons living in various Latin American environments, as well as their prosocial acts aimed at combating violence and inequality, is revealed.

center dot PURPOSE: To optimize artificial intelligence (AI) algo-rithms to integrate Scheimpflug-based corneal tomogra-phy and biomechanics to enhance ectasia detection.center dot DESIGN: Multicenter cross-sectional case-control ret-rospective study.center dot METHODS: A total of 3886 unoperated eyes from 3412 patients had Pentacam and Corvis ST (Oculus Op-tikgerate GmbH) examinations. The database included 1 eye randomly selected from 1680 normal patients (N) and from 1181 "bilateral" keratoconus (KC) patients, along with 551 normal topography eyes from patients with very asymmetric ectasia (VAE-NT), and their 474 unoperated ectatic (VAE-E) eyes. The current TBIv1 (tomographic-biomechanical index) was tested, and an optimized AI algorithm was developed for augmenting accuracy.center dot RESULTS: The area under the receiver operating char-acteristic curve (AUC) of the TBIv1 for discriminating clinical ectasia (KC and VAE-E) was 0.999 (98.5% sen-sitivity; 98.6% specificity [cutoff: 0.5]), and for VAE-NT, 0.899 (76% sensitivity; 89.1% specificity [cutoff: 0.29]). A novel random forest algorithm (TBIv2), devel-oped with 18 features in 156 trees using 10-fold cross -validation, had a significantly higher AUC (0.945; De -Long, P < .0001) for detecting VAE-NT (84.4% sen-sitivity and 90.1% specificity; cutoff: 0.43; DeLong, P < .0001) and a similar AUC for clinical ectasia (0.999; DeLong, P = .818; 98.7% sensitivity; 99.2% specificity [cutoff: 0.8]). Considering all cases, the TBIv2 had a higher AUC (0.985) than TBIv1 (0.974; DeLong, P < .0001).center dot CONCLUSIONS: AI optimization to integrate Scheimpflug-based corneal tomography and biome-chanical assessments augments accuracy for ectasia detection, characterizing ectasia susceptibility in the diverse VAE-NT group. Some patients with VAE may have true unilateral ectasia. Machine learning consider-ing additional data, including epithelial thickness or other parameters from multimodal refractive imaging, will con-tinuously enhance accuracy. A ground roof is a sustainable element in which using a certain thickness of ground can reach the desired thermal and climatic comfort. On the northwestern border of Mexico, with an emphasis on desert areas, there is a need to compose solutions that measure the heat gain problems caused by climatic conditions. The heat gain is caused mainly by solar rays that occur in summer; the ground roof creates an insulating layer which helps to reduce the flow of heat, which in turn with the volume of ground helps maintain and lower stable temperatures. To evaluate the thermal performance of a ground roof, with the weather conditions of the metropolitan area of Mexicali, the simulation will be carried out. The ground roof are analyzed with different ground thicknesses and measurement periods are established, according to the specifications in standards ASTMC-1046-95, ASTMC1155-95. The thicknesses were simulated with the Ener-Habitat program. In the results it has been obtained that in a concrete cover the temperatures will be higher in contrast to the temperature of the environment and that of the ground roof.

The term stigma comes from Greek, being related to the identification of people through a physical mark, which can generate marginalization. The literature points out four types of stigmas: public, institutional, self-esteem, and courtesy. People with Autistic Spectrum Disorders are stigmatized in various cultures and societies. This study describes the view on stigma regarding Autistic Spectrum Disorder among undergraduate medical and nursing students. This is a cross-sectional study of a qualitative approach, whose data were collected through two focus groups, one with medical and another with nursing students, from a public university in Alagoas, Brazil. A script with eight questions for discussion in the focus groups was used. The speeches were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed with the IRAMUTEQ software, based on content analysis. The Descending Hierarchical Classification showed five categories related to the disorder, which were: 1 - Approach to the person with the disorder; 2 - Experience of Stigma; 3 - Segregation of People with Disorders; 4 - Care of the Person with the Disorder and Class; 5 - Challenges faced by the people affected.

Resumo O termo estigma é oriundo do grego, relacionado a identificação de pessoas através de marcação física. A literatura aponta quatro tipos de estigmas: púbico, institucional, autoestima e de cortesia. Pessoas com Transtornos do Espectro Autista são estigmatizadas em diversas culturas e sociedades. Este estudo descreve a visão sobre estigma em relação ao Transtorno do Espectro Autista entre estudantes dos cursos medicina e enfermagem. Estudo transversal, qualitativo, dados coletados por meio de dois grupos focais, um com estudantes de medicina, outro com enfermagem, de uma universidade pública, em Alagoas. Foi utilizado um roteiro com oito perguntas para discussão nos grupos focais. As falas foram gravadas, transcritas e analisadas no software IRAMUTEQ, embasada na análise de conteúdo. A Classificação Hierárquica Descendente apresentou cinco categorias relacionadas ao Transtorno, que foram: 1 - Abordagem da pessoa com o Transtorno; 2 - Vivência de Estigma; 3 - Segregação de Pessoas com Transtorno; 4 - Cuidado com a Pessoa com o Transtorno; e a Classe 5 - Desafios enfrentados pelas pessoas acometidas

This study aimed to quantify the area of the mastoid triangle (MT) and assess potential morphometric differences between males and females.The sample consisted of 244 dry human skulls, with biological sex known based on genetic analysis, collected from a medicolegal osteological database from Central-Western Brazil.The study was observational, analytical, and cross-sectional. The skulls were analyzed using Heron's equation to calculate the area of the MT. The landmarks connecting each of the sides of the triangle were: Porion (Po)Mastoidale (Ma)Asterion (Ast). Morphometric references were calculated and compared based on sex.The area of the MT was nearly 14% larger in males compared to females (p0.05). The mean MT area for the right and left sides of males were 684.11±93.25mmMorphometric features regarding the MT were slightly different between males and females. Application of the MT as a dimorphic tool should be adjuvant. Moreover, this tool should be considered carefully, especially because the sex-based differences were statistically significant, but discrete between males and females.
