Around New Zealand there has been an increasing trend of ‘hybrid’ multi-storey buildings that combine reinforced concrete walls with structural steel framing systems. This study aims to characterise and understand this type of building, focusing on buildings constructed in Auckland and Christchurch from 2014 onwards. Drawings from a total of 50 buildings were reviewed, and their structural features were documented, including building use, building height, lateral load resisting system, ductility, wall configuration, wall construction method, steel framing system and suspended floor system. Meetings with structural engineers were conducted to validate the review findings and to further understand design principles and decisions that lead to these outcomes. A typology comprising five building types with distinct lateral load-resisting systems was proposed based on the building review. Results showed regional differences between Auckland and Christchurch, owing to building use and seismic hazard in the respective cities. Auckland buildings surveyed tended to be residential buildings five storeys or higher made of precast walls connected with steel beams. Christchurch buildings, on the other hand, were primarily commercial buildings three to seven storeys high with dual frame-wall systems. Structural connections between steel frames and concrete walls were also documented, showing that bolted connections with headed stud embedment were most common. The results can be used to identify critical aspects of these mixed structural systems for further investigation and to develop archetype building designs that can be used for modelling and testing.

In a threatening situation, various physiological and psychological processes are activated. The activation of the sympathetic nervous system, in particular, is responsible for the increase in heart rate, electrodermal activity, and negative emotions. According to Ulrich's theory, stress recovery involves physiological and psychological components, while the recharging of anabolic energy involved in the psychophysiological response to a stress factor falls under the broader concept of Restorativenes. Indoor, outdoor, natural and built environments can affect differently stress recovery and perceived Restorativeness. Through a test conducted within the Catholic University of San Antonio campus in Murcia (UCAM), this still ongoing study investigates the changes of some physiological variables and subjective assessment in different multisensory environmental conditions (i.e., acoustic, temperature, relative humidity) and presents some preliminary results.

The management of an intracranial hemorrhage in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy presents a significant challenge for medical professionals. Anticoagulant treatment is intended to prevent blood clotting, but it can worsen active brain bleeds. Despite this risk, avoiding the prothrombotic state caused by mechanical heart valves remains crucial. Guidelines on managing this issue are currently lacking, prompting a review that delves into embryonic development and anatomical functions of heart valves, valve replacement therapy for diseased valves, and the need for anticoagulants. Ultimately, recent literature and cases inform discussion regarding how best to manage intracranial hemorrhages in patients with mechanical heart valves. The expectation is that this examination will offer valuable perspectives on the handling of intracranial bleeding among individuals with mechanical heart valves and stimulate additional investigations in this intricate domain, particularly through the lens of applied mechanics.

Predictive modeling is a complex methodology that involves leveraging advanced mathematical and computational techniques to forecast future occurrences or outcomes. This tool has numerous applications in medicine, yet its full potential remains untapped within this field. Therefore, it is imperative to delve deeper into the benefits and drawbacks associated with utilizing predictive modeling in medicine for a more comprehensive understanding of how this approach may be effectively leveraged for improved patient care. When implemented successfully, predictive modeling has yielded impressive results across various medical specialities. From predicting disease progression to identifying high-risk patients who require early intervention, there are countless examples of successful implementations of this approach within healthcare settings worldwide. However, despite these successes, significant challenges remain for practitioners when applying predictive models to real-world scenarios. These issues include concerns about data quality and availability as well as navigating regulatory requirements surrounding the use of sensitive patient information—all factors that can impede progress toward realizing the true potential impact of predictive modeling on improving health outcomes.

Radiology remains one of the least diverse fields in medicine. With increasing understanding of the benefits of workforce diversity on health care outcomes, radiology society leadership and radiologists are engaging in necessary efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. To date, much of the initiatives have focused on pipeline development and recruitment strategies. Literature from organizational psychologists, human resources and business strategists suggest that incorporation of inclusion could overcome some of the persistent barriers to workforce diversity. Using case studies from real-life residency programs, we describe challenges associated with being a member of an underrepresented minority group in radiology. We illustrate concepts in inclusion, proposing concrete ideas for personal and institutional growth in this area, as a strategy for improving workforce diversity and team effectiveness.

The aim of this study was to investigate glenoid wear in patients with humeral head replacement with a smaller humeral head, who were observed for5 years, and to examine the relationship between radiographic changes and clinical outcome.In this study, 41 shoulders of 41 patients (13 men, 28 women) were followed up for5 years. The mean patient age at the time of surgery was 70.5 years. The average follow-up period at short-term was 26.0 months, and intermediate-term was 66.5 months. We classified glenoid wear into four grades (i.e., Grade 0 to Grade 3). Age, sex, clinical scores, and range of motion were investigated in relation to the grade of glenoid wear. Radiographs of glenoid wear evaluated in the short-term were subsequently compared to radiographs obtained in the intermediate-term period.At the final follow-up, 16 (39%) patients had Grade 0 wear, 11 (27%) patients had Grade 1 wear, 10 (24%) patients had Grade 2 wear, and 4 (10%) patients had Grade 3 wear. The University of California-Los Angeles score, Japanese Orthopaedic Association score, and active forward flexion were significantly lower in the Grade 3 patients; however, Grade 3 patients did not have significant pain. No significant difference in age, sex, Constant score, active external rotation, and active internal rotation in relation to the grade of glenoid wear was observed. In total, 25 (61%) patients showed a progression of glenoid wear. Cases in which glenoid wear progressed after 4 years after surgery were rare. Two patients of Grade 3 underwent total shoulder arthroplasty revision at 16 months and 38 months, respectively.Glenoid wear occurred in 61% of patients at 5 years follow-up. Pain of Grade 3 patients was mild, therefore, if pain is not severe, revision surgery may not be necessary.

This article aims to analyze the interdependence of asset management indicators of publicly traded companies from different sectors, through the use of Factor Analysis, one of the aspects of Multivariate Analysis. As a result, the total of 2 underlying factors in relation to the 7 economic and financial indicators selected for the study, namely: general liquidity, dry liquidity, immediate liquidity, current liquidity, asset turnover ratio, stock. The factors were called Financial Liquidity and Profitability, according to the concepts of Production Engineering. The KMO test showed a value of 0.739, classifying the level of appropriation of the analysis as adequate for model validation. Bartlett's test obtained a value of 398,192 (significance level of 1%) and the total explained variance obtained an explanation degree of 83.54%.

Understanding trade relations and the behavior of the Brazilian black pepper market is of fundamental importance for decision-making at the producer and exporter levels. In this sense, this work carries out an analysis, at a national level, of the current black pepper market and proposes to develop a set of econometric models capable of presenting numerical estimates that can qualitatively and quantitatively describe the behavior and commercial relations of this agribusiness, in addition to measuring the adjustment time and the market convergence curve.

The oil quench and temper technique have a lot of benefits for heavy duty spring manufacture since it may expose the best balance of toughness and ductility, as well as increase fatigue life. The current study looked at the fatigue behavior of tempered AISI 5160 leaf spring steel samples at tempering temperatures of 400, 450, 500, 550, and 600 °C, as well as isothermally heat- treated steel samples at 830 °C. All leaf spring steel samples that had undergone thermal tempering and isothermal heat treatment were then tested up to fracture utilizing rotational fatigue test equipment under the effect of various stress levels. All steel samples subjected to tempering heat treatments of 400°C to 600°C showed a decrease in hardness ratings. The Rockwell hardness ratings of the steel samples that treated to isothermal heat treatment increased significantly. Experimental fatigue testing revealed that the values of fatigue resistance for steel samples tempered at (400 and 450) °C temperatures dropped by a small amount. The fatigue resistance values for steel specimens tempered at 500 °C to 600 °C temperatures decreased more than the values for steel samples tempered at 500 to 600 °C temperatures. A fatigue resistance of steel samples that were treated to isothermal heat treatments, on the other hand, increased. Steel samples that were isothermally heat-treated at 830 °C and then chilled in a salt brine solution, on the other hand, showed an increase in fatigue resistance

Zinc Sulphide is one of most studied semiconductor with wide band gap (3.5–3.9 eV) versatile material due to its physical and chemical properties. ZnS is a non-toxic material and a suitable candidate to be a buffer layer for heterojunction solar cells. In this study, Zinc Sulphide (ZnS) thin films were deposited by chemical bath deposition technique using Zinc Acetate Dihydrate [Zn (CH3COO)2. 2H2O] and Thiourea [CH4N2S]. The ZnS thin films samples were characterized by UV-Vis NIR Spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Thin-Film Measurement Instrument. FTIR spectra confirmed the presence of ZnS bond in the crystalline thin film. XRD data confirmed the cubic structure of the deposited thin film only when the amount of Thiourea was increased and the complexing agent Hydrazine Hydrate was replaced with Tri-Sodium Citrate. Crystallite size and strain were estimated using Debye-Scherrer model and Williamson-Hall model and lattice constant was estimated using Nelson-Riley plot. Otherwise, XRD showed the amorphous phase. UV-Vis data confirmed ZnS thin films as enough transmittive and it showed higher bandgap. Thin-Film Measurement Instrument was used to measure the thickness of the ZnS thin films. Synthesized ZnS thin films exhibited promising characteristics for using as the buffer layer of the heterojunction solar cells. Highlights • ZnS thin films were prepared successfully by simple, low cost and environment friendly chemical bath deposition method. • XRD measurement confirmed both Amorphous and Crystalline phase of ZnS thin films. • By changing the precursor only can be achieved crystalline phase from amorphous phase of ZnS thin film. • The amount of precursor and deposition conditions can be optimized to produce crystalline ZnS thin film.

The etiology of maxillofacial injuries is represented by car accidents, human aggression, and work-related trauma. Trauma to the maxillofacial area requires a complex treatment that involves functional and aesthetic rehabilitation. To restore the functionality of the damaged areas, a correct surgical technique is necessary along with the use of the ideal prostheses for a better reconstruction. Along with the development and improvement of facial fractures osteosynthesis techniques, an attempt was made to identify the right material to complete these surgical methods. We analyze in this paperwork the benefits of polyetheretherketone-based materials in the prosthetics of different facial fractures in comparison with other materials like titanium.

In Ethiopia, undernutrition is a quite common health problem among people living with HIV. Unlike in developed countries, nutritional counseling for people living with HIV has not received much attention. This study aimed to explore the perception of people living with HIV on their dietary practice and the existing health care service in Ethiopia. A phenomenological qualitative study was conducted in two hospitals in southern Ethiopia from March to June 2018. A pre-tested interview guide was prepared in English and translated into the Amharic language. The data were collected using key informant interviews, focus group discussions and observations in the ART clinics by six trained nurses. The data were analyzed thematically. Almost all focus group discussion participants mentioned that a healthy diet for ART patients is very important. The majority of the participants mentioned that they were not satisfied with the counseling service given at the ART clinics. Lack of training for health care professionals on nutritional counseling was also reported as a challenge by the nurses themselves. Nutritional counseling given by health care professionals at the ART clinic was poor. Emphasis should be given to the training of healthcare professionals working in ART clinics on nutritional counseling.

Introduction Accurate measurements of parameters are essential during mechanical ventilation support. These measurements are achieved through sensors that monitor flows, volumes and pressures. External and internal flow sensors are both commonly used in mechanical ventilation systems to measure gas entering and leaving the lungs. The sensors could be located outside the ventilator (external or proximal) or inside the ventilator (internal or distal), each of which have their own respective advantages and disadvantages. There are differences in the way they function and the information they provide, which can affect their accuracy and usefulness in different clinical situations. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences between two critical care ventilators utilizing external sensors to two other ventilators utilizing internal sensors. Methods A bench study using a lung simulator was conducted using three passive, single compartment models: 1) compliance of 40 ml/cmH2O, resistance of 10 cmH2O, 2) compliance of 40 ml/cmH2O, resistance of 20 cmH2O, and 3) compliance of 20 ml/cmH2O, resistance of 10 cmH2O. In each study, two different modes of ventilation, volume controlled (tidal volume 400 ml, respiratory rate 20, PEEP 5 cmH2O, inspiratory time 0.7 seconds) and pressure controlled (inspiratory pressure 15 cmH2O, respiratory rate 20, PEEP 5 cmH2O, inspiratory time 0.7 seconds) were tested. We compared the inspiratory flow, inspiratory tidal volume, peak inspiratory pressures and PEEP in four commercially available critical care ventilators. Two use external flow sensors: G5 (Hamilton Medical), Bellavista 1000e (Vyaire Medical), and two use internal flow sensors: Evita Infinity 500 (Drager), and PB 980 (Medtronic). We also compared these parameters to a mathematical model. Results There were statistically significant differences (P < 0.001) in all four measured parameters: inspiratory flow, tidal volume, PIP and PEEP between all four ventilators, and between the mathematical model and all four ventilators in both modes, in all three clinical scenarios. The post-hoc Dunn test showed significant differences between each ventilator, except for a few parameters in PIP and PEEP, but not in flow or volume. There were variable but significant differences between some of the four parameters measured from the ventilator compared to those measured from the simulator of all four ventilators in both modes. The two ventilators using external sensors had more accurate differences between the delivered and measured tidal volumes (P < 0.001) and inspiratory flow (P < 0.001), however, the other two ventilators with internal sensors had more accurate differences between the delivered and measured PIP (P < 0.001) and PEEP (P < 0.001) levels. Conclusions All four ventilators performed differently from each other and from the mathematical model. The two ventilators using external sensors had more accurate differences between the delivered and measured tidal volumes and inspiratory flow, the two ventilators with internal sensors had more accurate differences between the delivered and measured PIP and PEEP levels. He highlights the analysis of the harmonic construction in the musical compositions of the artist Khalil Ismail, where harmony is a significant Western musical science, a pillar of the structure of instrumental and vocal music.It depends on the compositions of vertical sounds performed simultaneously, as tones coincide and are sometimes dissonant to give sound resonance that enriches musical work and attracts recipients. Hence, the researcher has many questions, including: Can the composition of the writings of the artist Khalil Ismail determine in an objective research framework? Is there a study on this subject in some detail? which leads the researcher to search for answers.However, no previous studies have had found in this regard; The researcher is therefore convinced that there is an urgent need to write this research and study the all-important part of his harmony construction.

We draw on Bourdieu's work on the sociology of education and introduce the idea of building social capital and community in the often misunderstood, one-sided narrative of online learning, which is seen as both an isolated and isolating experience. We also look at educational praxis, which is "informed, committed action," to address socially differentiated educational attainment, which is perceived to be more pronounced in online learning. To investigate this, we perform a narrative analysis of qualitative data from student evaluations of three online asynchronous courses taught within the past two years, where we introduced regular synchronous sessions. Our findings indicate that synchronous sessions, especially during the pandemic, were perceived by students as a cornerstone of a pedagogy of care. Further, the data suggest that these sessions work better than fully asynchronous courses for students prone to lower educational attainment due to uncontrollable conditions (e.g., socio-economic status, race) because of the additional layer of support. Finally, our findings indicate that these sessions represent one effective way for students to build social capital and community in courses that are otherwise fully asynchronous.

After a skin injury, keratinocytes switch from a state of homeostasis to one of regeneration leading to the reconstruction of the epidermal barrier. The regulatory mechanism of gene expression underpinning this key switch during human skin wound healing is enigmatic. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) constitute a new horizon in the understanding of the regulatory programs encoded in the mammalian genome. By comparing the transcriptome of an acute human wound and skin from the same donor as well as keratinocytes isolated from these paired tissue samples, we generated a list of lncRNAs showing changed expression in keratinocytes during wound repair. Our study focused on HOXC13-AS, a recently evolved human lncRNA specifically expressed in epidermal keratinocytes, and we found that its expression was temporally downregulated during wound healing. In line with its enrichment in suprabasal keratinocytes, HOXC13-AS was found to be increasingly expressed during keratinocyte differentiation, but its expression was reduced by EGFR signaling. After HOXC13-AS knockdown or overexpression in human primary keratinocytes undergoing differentiation induced by cell suspension or calcium treatment and in organotypic epidermis, we found that HOXC13-AS promoted keratinocyte differentiation. Moreover, RNA pull-down assays followed by mass spectrometry and RNA immunoprecipitation analysis revealed that mechanistically HOXC13-AS sequestered the coat complex subunit alpha (COPA) protein and interfered with Golgi-to-endoplasmic reticulum (ER) molecular transport, resulting in ER stress and enhanced keratinocyte differentiation. In summary, we identified HOXC13-AS as a crucial regulator of human epidermal differentiation.

Introduction: Acute thrombosis of the modified Blalock-Taussig shunt (mBTS) in patients with univentricular physiology is a life-threatening event. Case presentation: We present a case of acute mBTS thrombosis complicating a hemodynamic evaluation before a bidirectional Glenn procedure for tricuspid atresia. After failed balloon angioplasty and catheter-directed selective thrombolysis, the patient was successfully managed by stent implantation into the thrombosed shunt. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first case of acute mBTS thrombosis treated by catheter intervention in Romania. Conclusions: Even a routine invasive hemodynamic evaluation might be complicated by a life-threatening condition. Stent implantation in the setting of acute mBTS thrombosis could be lifesaving.

Automeris liberia (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) caterpillars are important defoliators of the African oil palm, Elaeis guineensis (Arecaceae) in Central and South America. The family Tachinidae (Diptera) comprises flies that are parasitoids of many insect pests, mainly from the order Lepidoptera. However, host records for tachinids are still relatively scarce. In the present work, we report the occurrence of Belvosia sp. aff. williamsi (Diptera: Tachinidae: Exoristinae: Goniini) and Leptostylum oligothrix (Diptera: Tachinidae: Exoristinae: Blondeliini) parasitizing caterpillars of A. liberia in E. guineensis in the municipality of Tailândia, state of Pará, Brazil. This is the first record of the parasitism of A. liberia by Leptostylum in Brazil, as well as by Belvosia in the world.

Objective The risk of embolization to distal territory or to new territory in mechanical thrombectomy remains a major issue despite advancements in technological device. This condition can be caused by a large and firm dropped thrombus without passing through a guiding catheter during stent retriever or aspiration catheter withdrawal. This report introduced a novel technique referred to as retrograde angiography to detect dropped thrombus. Methods The retrograde angiography to detect dropped thrombus technique is a kind of retrograde angiography that consists of a contrast medium injection via a distal microcatheter and aspiration through an inflated balloon-guiding catheter. This method was used to detect dropped thrombus at the balloon-guiding catheter tip when back flow was blocked from the balloon-guiding catheter after stent retriever or aspiration catheter withdrawal. We retrospectively reviewed four consecutive patients who underwent the retrograde angiography to detect dropped thrombus technique during mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation between January 2018 and January 2021. Results Three of four patients had dropped thrombus, which was diagnosed with the technique and retrieved completely with subsequent procedures while maintaining the balloon-guiding catheter inflated. None of the patients experienced embolization to distal territory/embolization to new territory, and a successful reperfusion was achieved in all four cases. Conclusions The retrograde angiography to detect dropped thrombus is a technique to detect a dropped thrombus at the balloon-guiding catheter tip and allows us to retrieve it with subsequent mechanical thrombectomy procedures while maintaining the balloon-guiding catheter inflated and it may be useful for reducing the risk of embolization to distal territory/embolization to new territory.

The implementation of motor skills as an environmental factor favorable to maintaining health, effort and work capacity, the body is made since the period of growth and development, when the whole personality is formed and consolidated on a bio-psychosociallevel. The training process in maintenance fitness took place in identical material conditions and the methodology applied was the same for both groups, they differed depending on the skills and capacity of the technical elements. Physical tests on motorskills were applied with a battery of specific tests, especially aerobic exercises that increase the tone of the muscle regions. Through the variations of means on muscle groups and regions, the muscle tone of the experimental group increased, managing to achieve theself-control of the correct outfit, realizing where the vicious attitudes of the outfit were the case.

O prolapso vaginal é definido como a projeção da parede da vagina para o exterior pela rima vulvar. As causas relacionadas à ocorrência são diversas, entretanto alguns fatores predisponentes se destacam como o relaxamento do sistema de fixação da vagina, aumento da pressão intra-abdominal, defeitos anatômicos, distúrbios hormonais (alto de teor de estrógeno), obesidade, inflamação na região vulvar, fêmeas idosas e predisposição hereditária. Pode ser classificado em parcial ou total, ou por estágios dependendo da evolução do prolapso. O objetivo deste relato foi descrever um caso de prolapso de estágio 3, como também, medidas terapêuticas distintas. A sutura de Buhner vem sendo a mais recomendada terapia cirúrgica, porém, são necessárias medidas profiláticas para diminuir a incidência no rebanho.

The beams are frequently utilized in construction as well as in the fabrication of vehicles like as trains, ships, and airplanes. Depending on the necessary working circumstances, several materials may have been utilized in the production of these beams, from high fatigue resistance, high corrosion resistance, strong earthquake resistance, and other aspects. As a result, composite beams made of glass or carbon fibers are increasingly commonly employed. This is a result of its strong collapse resistance, light weight, and strong fatigue stress resistance. In order to compare the models' resistance to deformations, stresses, and strains that they are exposed to during loading, this article focuses on constructing a variety of models using a variety of composite materials and shapes. The outcomes demonstrate a rise in the rate of deformation. against beams with linear shapes in those with non-linear shapes. Additionally, the findings demonstrate an increase in stresses and strains in regions with curves (i.e., areas that are nonlinear).

Emergency workers are exposed to many different risks at the same time and possible consequences for their safety and health may be manifold. Many emergency workers suffer from accidents and injuries in the course of their jobs, as well as other negative health effects that lead to severe deterioration of their physical and psychological well-being. The use of specific personal protective equipment (PPE) according to the given risks is of great importance in preventing adverse health effects among emergency workers. This research aimed to develop, for emergency workers, a PPE system, in a modular structure consisting of: i) modular layer 1: the inner layer, in contact with the skin/Underwear PPE, with the function of sensorial and thermophysiological comfort and which ensures thermal protection; ii) modular layer 2: the intermediate (basic) layer/Duty uniform – with the function of limited protection to the specific risk factors of an unpredictable intervention action (thermal risks: convection heat, flame; risks from the external environment: liquid splashes; mechanical risks: cutting, abrasion, etc); iii) modular layer 3: the outer layer/specialized PPE, with a function of barrier against specific risk factors for fire intervention missions, extreme weather conditions etc. This modular approach provides some advantages, including preserving comfort and flexibility until the intervention mission requires the use of the next level of protection. This helps ensure that emergency responders are not in the position of choosing between their safety or mission effectiveness.

This study aimed to clarify the psychosocial difficulties and impacts that cancer patients face from appearance changes, in order to develop a patient support program. An online survey was administered to patients registered with an online survey company who met the eligibility criteria. The study population was randomly selected from gender and cancer types to create a sample that reflected the proportion of cancer incidence rates in Japan as much as possible. Out of a total of 1034 respondents, 601patients (58.1%) experienced appearance change. Symptoms that were reported to have a high distress level and prevalence rate, and that widely required provision of information were such as alopecia (22.2%), edema (19.8%) and eczema (17.8%). Distress levels and personal assistance requirements were high particularly for patients who experienced stoma placement and mastectomy. More than 40% of patients who experienced appearance change had quit or were absent from work or school, and reported that their social activities were negatively affected by the visually notable changes in their appearance. Concerns about "receiving pity from others" or about "the exposure of cancer" due to their appearance change also led patients to reduce outings (β = 0.32 and β = 0.31 respectively, p < 0.001) and social interactions with others (β = 0.34 and β = 0.36 respectively, p < 0.001) and increased the discord in human relationships (β = 0.21 and β = 0.19 respectively, p < 0.001). Results from this study indicate the areas in which more support is required from healthcare professionals, as well as the need for interventions for patient cognition to avoid maladaptive behaviors in cancer patients who experience appearance changes.

Freshwater algae (Chlorophyceae-except Zygnematales) were collected from 18 sites (12 springs and 6 streams) in Shaqlawa district within Erbil Province, Kurdistan Region of Iraq from September-2019 to August-2020. Aim of this study isolation and identification new algal species. 27 new algal genera with 40 species records at first time in Kurdistan Region and others provinces of Iraq, which include the following, Scenedesmus considered the most abundance than others algae which seven species identified followed by genus of Chlamydomonas, genus of Chlorophyceae, genus of Characium with three species for each one recorded, but genera Geminella have two species, finally the remaining genera have one species identified for each one

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of environmental and social disclosure on return on asset of listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria. Methodology: The study used expo factor research. The population of the study comprises of all the thirteen (13) oil and gas companies and eight (8) of those companies made up the sampled population. The study used three variable, the dependent, independent and control variable. ROA is the dependent variable, environmental and social disclosure is the independent variable while firm size and firm age are the control variable. The study used secondary data sourced from annual report and account of the sampled companies for the period 2010 to 2019. To examine the study data, descriptive statistics, correlation matrix and multivariate regression analysis were used. Findings: The study revealed that environmental and social disclosure have negative impact on return on asset (ROA) of listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study recommended that there should be proactive effort from policy makers like National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency and other standards setting bodies to introduce a standard framework for mandatory disclosure of corporate environmental information.

Although the manufacturers of various electronic components, including pressure sensors, provide us with their operating characteristic, it is necessary to establish it accurately. In this context, the paper presents the results obtained following the design and construction of an experimental laboratory stand intended for the experimental determination of the operating characteristics of differential pressure sensors.

Background. Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESSs) syndrome is an idiosyncratic drug-induced reaction that rarely occurs in children but can lead to serious complications. It manifests most commonly with fever, extensive skin eruptions, and eosinophilia. Symptoms typically develop two to six weeks after the initiation of the inciting drug. Visceral organ involvement especially the liver can also occur and if not recognized early and the inciting drug is not stopped immediately, it can lead to liver failure. Therefore, early diagnosis is important but can be very challenging because of disease rarity, lack of a diagnostic test, and its overlap with other common pediatric allergic and infectious conditions. Case Presentation. A 2.5-year-old boy with known diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, bilateral bronchiectasis, pancreatic insufficiency, and chronic airway colonization with Pseudomonas aeruginosa was admitted to our hospital with acute pulmonary exacerbation of CF lung disease. He was treated with intravenous piperacillin-tazobactam and intravenous amikacin in addition to airway clearance. On day 18 of treatment, the patient developed high grade fever followed by diffuse erythematous and pruritic maculopapular rash. Blood tests showed high eosinophilia, high C-reactive protein (CRP), and high liver enzymes levels. The clinical features and the laboratory findings were consistent with the DRESS syndrome. Therefore, all antibiotics were discontinued. Progressive resolution of the symptoms was observed within two days. Laboratory abnormalities were also normalized in the follow-up clinic visit 4 months later. Conclusion. Our case demonstrates the importance of early recognition of the DRESS syndrome in children who develop fever and skin rashes with eosinophilia while undergoing long-term antibiotic treatment. Prompt discontinuation of the offending drug is the cornerstone therapy and results in the resolution of symptoms and prevention of serious complications.

Data comparing patients who undergo multiarterial grafting during coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) vs percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with multivessel coronary disease are scarce. This study addresses the relevance of using multiple arterial conduits vs PCI for appropriate patients.This retrospective study included all patients with coronary artery disease who underwent CABG with multiple arterial conduits or PCI. Propensity score matching was performed for baseline characteristics. Kaplan-Meier estimates, cumulative incidence, and freedom from major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) curves were performed.The total patient population consisted of 3648 patients from 2011 to 2018 divided into 902 CABG patients and 2746 PCI patients. Patients were propensity matched (PCI, n = 838; CABG, n = 838). In the CABG cohort the left internal mammary artery was used in 837 patients (99.9%), the right internal mammary artery in 770 patients (92%), and radial arteries in 108 patients (12.9%). Patients in the PCI cohort had significantly higher 30-day mortality (24 [2.9%] vs 7 [0.8%], P.01). Survival over follow-up (median, 4.9 years; range, 3.3-6.8) was better for the CABG cohort (730 [87.1%] vs 625 [74.6%], P .01). Patients in the CABG cohort had greater freedom from MACCE (607 [72.4%] vs 339 [40.5%], P.01). Cox multivariable regression showed that patients who underwent CABG had a significantly reduced risk of mortality (hazard ratio, 0.49; 95% confidence interval, 0.39-0.61; P.01) and of MACCE (hazard ratio, 0.33; 95% confidence interval, 0.28-0.38; P.01).Patients with coronary artery disease who undergo CABG with multiple arterial conduits have significantly fewer major adverse events, improved survival, and reduced hospital readmissions.
