(1) Background: Psoriasis is a chronic and inflammatory systemic disease that has been associated with periodontal pathologies, specifically periodontitis. The aim of this research is to answer the following question: Could periodontitis aggravate psoriasis? (2) Methods: We carried out a systematic review following the PRISMA guide using PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and WOS; (3) Results: A total of 111 studies were identified in the databases and 11 were obtained after screening. The selection included nine case–control studies, one cross-sectional study, and one cohort study. Most of the publications report an increase in bleeding on probing and the presence of periodontal pockets in patients with psoriasis, confirming that inflammation caused by periodontitis can contribute to systemic inflammation worsening psoriasis. To summarize, the scientific literature indicates that local periodontal inflammation could aggravate psoriasis.

4 Pág., Cetacean morbillivirus (CeMV) causes illness and death in cetaceans worldwide; the CeMV strains circulating in the Southern Hemisphere are poorly known. We detected a pilot whale CeMV strain in 3 short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) stranded in Brazil during July-October 2020. We tackle the problem of a set of agents achieving resilient consensus in the presence of attacked agents. We present a discrete-time reputation-based consensus algorithm for synchronous and asynchronous networks by developing a local strategy where, at each time, each agent assigns a reputation (between zero and one) to each neighbor. The reputation is then used to weigh the neighbors' values in the update of its state. Under mild assumptions, we show that: (i) the proposed method converges exponentially to the consensus of the regular agents; (ii) if a regular agent identifies a neighbor as an attacked node, then it is indeed an attacked node; (iii) if the consensus value of the normal nodes differs from that of any of the attacked nodes' values, then the reputation that a regular agent assigns to the attacked neighbors goes to zero. Further, we extend our method to achieve resilience in the scenarios where there are noisy nodes, dynamic networks and stochastic node selection. Finally, we illustrate our algorithm with several examples, and we delineate some attacking scenarios that can be dealt by the current proposal but not by the state-of-the-art approaches.

Este estudo objetivou realizar o levantamento de coleópteros presentes em sistema agroflorestal constituído de mogno-brasileiro (Swietenia macrophylla King), cedro-australiano (Toona ciliata M. Roem.) e cafeeiro (Coffea sp.), em Monte Carmelo, MG, com armadilhas etanólicas de interceptação de voo (modelo PET-SM) e verificar seu padrão de distribuição espacial. Foram distribuídas 25 armadilhas, instaladas a 1,5 m do solo, dispostas a cada 35 m de distância uma da outra. Foram utilizados 6 mL de álcool 96º GL como atrativo, e após 15 dias o material foi coletado. Foram realizadas coletas bimestrais, de agosto de 2019 a julho de 2020, com o registro de 17.942 espécimes da ordem Coleoptera, distribuídos em 25 famílias. A família Curculionidae apresentou maior abundância, com destaque para a subfamília Scolytinae, com 17.533 indivíduos, cujos picos populacionais ocorreram nos meses de abril e julho de 2020. O índice de Morisita indicou distribuição espacial agregada para subfamília Scolytinae e ordem Coleoptera. Esse padrão se explica pelo fato dos escolitíneos se alimentarem e agruparem-se para acasalar na planta hospedeira. Conclui-se que o padrão espacial dos grupos escolitíneos e Coleoptera é agregado e os picos populacionais das espécies ocorrem na estação seca-fria.

The experiences that the COVID-19 pandemic brought led educational institutions to use disruptive technologies that guaranteed continuity of learning in the face of any adverse scenario, ranging from the conceptual to the experiential. This article aims to describe how the metaverse contributed to university education, and through these factors the success of its application was evidenced. For which a systematic review of the literature was developed. The research is exploratory-descriptive level. A total of 738 documents from the Scopus, ERIC, Taylor & Francis, and Google Scholar databases were reviewed, from which 16 articles were finally extracted. The content analysis technique was used through the Atlas Ti software. With this, it was obtained as a result that the type of metaverse used to a greater extent was virtual reality. Likewise, the areas of study in which they were applied to a greater extent are in education: medicine, engineering and administration. In addition, the factors that evidenced the improvement in university education as an effect of the application of the metaverse are academic performance and interaction between students. It is concluded that, given the pandemic scenario and the need to continue the teaching-learning process considering the limitations offered by the virtual modality in which experiential learning is not developed, it led to the development of learning scenarios through the metaverse. However, it will be necessary to reduce the gaps in terms of teaching skills, create teaching scenarios in the virtual world, use and evaluate them permanently.

Essa resenha foi elaborada com objetivo de analisar a obra Understanding institutional weakness: power and design in Latin American Institutions, publicada em 2019 e organizada pelos autores Daniel Brinks, Steven Levitsky e Maria Murillo, a partir da perspectiva neoinstitucional para o Direito, que compreende instituições como “regras do jogo”. A análise se debruça sobre o potencial da contribuição metodológica das tipologias elaboradas pelos autores para se compreender as fragilidades institucionais em experiências da América Latina, como fruto de uma estratégia política, que repercutem na forma como o direito é implementado de facto.

In this article, I present a defence of conceptual plausibility, understood as an epistemic way to qualify concepts that situates them between the merely possible and the actual. To show that there is such a thing as conceptual plausibility, I rely on what seems to lie at the heart of many uses of the phrase ‘plausible concept’: explanatory fruitfulness. To make an effective case for the claim that conceptual plausibility is of philosophical interest, I present an argument based on the debate over the rationality of theistic belief and the concept of God. To show that conceptual plausibility is philosophically feasible, I first show that it cannot be reduced to propositional plausibility. Next, I offer a minimally precise characterization of conceptual plausibility; I approach this from a qualitative and comparative perspective as well. Finally, I show how these qualitative and comparative criteria of conceptual plausibility might be applied to the debate over the rationality of theistic belief and the concept of God.

A água é um recurso natural que ocupa um lugar central na manutenção da vida na Terra, sendo essencial para a sobrevivência de seres vivos. Por isso, a qualidade da água é um aspecto fundamental para garantir a saúde e o bem-estar da sociedade humana e a preservação de várias espécies vegetais e animais. Diante disso, este estudo teve como objetivo monitorar a qualidade físico-química da água do Rio Araguaia em Conceição do Araguaia-PA e compará-la com os padrões de classificação da resolução CONAMA nº 357/2005. A pesquisa foi realizada em cinco etapas, incluindo a caracterização da área de estudo, definição dos pontos de coleta, coleta de amostras, análises laboratoriais e avaliação dos resultados. Foram selecionados três pontos de coleta, sendo dois nos extremos do núcleo urbano e um no centro. Com base em oito parâmetros analisados, o estudo enfatizou a importância do monitoramento da qualidade da água fluvial, avaliou parcialmente a qualidade da água no Rio Araguaia e sua possível classificação de acordo com a resolução CONAMA 357/2005, e caracterizou o grau de poluição atual do rio com base em dados de DBO, OD e nitrito nos pontos avaliados.

A região maxilofacial é comumente acometida nos traumas, porém os ferimentos por arma branca em face são raros, acometendo, principalmente, jovens do gênero masculino e vítimas de agressão física. Cuidados em relação à manutenção das vias aéreas, aspectos neurológicos, oftalmológicos e vasculares integram o tratamento interdisciplinar. O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em relatar o caso de um paciente do gênero masculino acometido por ferimento de arma branca, com uma faca impactada em região maxilofacial.

El objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer los elementos que determinan el capital social en los beneficiarios del Programa Sembrando Vida, con base en información de tipo cuantitativa y cualitativa obtenida de los beneficiarios. Se utilizaron dos medidas de confianza con los cuales se construyeron tres niveles de confianza: baja, media y alta y se estimaron las ecuaciones planteadas utilizando un modelo Probit. Los modelos estimados permiten concluir que aquellos beneficiarios encuestados con mayor edad, habitantes de poblaciones rurales y que participan voluntariamente en grupos u organizaciones locales, tienen una mayor probabilidad de pertenecer a los grupos de mayor confianza. Utilizando la medida de confianza basada en la percepción de confiabilidad de las personas de la localidad, los resultados del modelo indican que el género y la condición de etnicidad tienen un efecto negativo y positivo en el nivel de confianza, respectivamente. Mientras que el modelo basado en la calificación otorgada a diferentes actores locales sugiere que esas dos características tienen un efecto negativo en el nivel de confianza. Por otra parte, se observó que, a mayores niveles de confianza de los beneficiarios, su desempeño organizativo a través de las comunidades de aprendizaje campesino aumenta.

Currently, most surgeons pursue subspecialty fellowship training. This study answers the following questions: (1) How does the rate of fellowship training in orthopedic surgery compare with that in other surgical specialties? (2) To what extent did adoption of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accreditation change from 2013 to 2021? Orthopedic subspecialties were analyzed for total number of fellowship programs and positions in the 2013 and 2021 Match. Rates of ACGME accreditation were analyzed via chi-square tests. In 2021, orthopedic surgery had the highest rate of fellowship selection (94%) relative to general surgery (77%), ophthalmology (66%), plastic surgery (63%), and otolaryngology (55%). Across all orthopedic subspecialties, the percentage of ACGME accreditation decreased among fellowship programs (53% in 2013 to 48% in 2021, P =.166) and positions (58% in 2013 to 50% in 2021, P P =.016) and hand surgery (81% in 2013 to 99% in 2021, P P =.042), driven by the increase in unaccredited fellowship programs. Accreditation of orthopedic subspecialty fellowship training has decreased with respect to the proportion of accredited training positions. Aims: To examine the differences between HbA1c and glucose related variables in predicting weight loss and glycaemic changes following 8 weeks of low energy diet (LED) in individuals with overweight and hyperglycaemia. Research design and methods: 2178 individuals with ADA-defined pre-diabetes -impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and/or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) -who started an 8 week LED weight loss diet, were included in this analysis. Participants were enrolled in the PREVIEW (PREVention of diabetes through lifestyle in-terventions and population studies In Europe and around the World) clinical trial. Multivariable linear mixed effects regression models and generalised additive mixed effect logistic models were used. Results: Only 1 in 3 participants (33%) had HbA1c levels defined as pre-diabetes. Neither baseline HbA1c, IFG or IGT were associated with body weight change at 8 weeks. Higher baseline body weight, baseline fasting insulin and weight loss predicted normalisation of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), whilst higher baseline fasting insulin, C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and older age predicted normalisation of HbA1c. Additionally, male sex and higher baseline BMI, body fat and energy intake were positively associated with weight loss, whereas greater age and higher HDL-cholesterol predicted less weight loss. Conclusions: Whilst neither HbA1c nor fasting glucose predicts short-term weight loss success, both may impact the metabolic response to rapid weight loss. We propose a role of inflammation versus total body adiposity since these variables are independent predictors of the normalisation of HbA1c and fasting glucose, respectively.(c) 2023 Elsevier Ltd and European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism. A trajectory planning algorithm based on the traditional A* formulation is designed to determine the minimum-energy path from a start to a final location taking into account the prevailing wind conditions. To obtain average wind conditions in an urban environment, full-scale Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes simulations are first performed using OpenFoam® for various inlet wind directions on a computational model representing complex buildings on the campus of the Technical University of Berlin. The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) modes of the full database are then calculated in an offline stage with the wind direction as a parameter. Next, the online reconstruction of the complete urban wind field is performed by Gappy POD using simulated pointwise measurements obtained by sparse sensors. Finally, the trajectory planning algorithm is applied to the reconstructed wind field and validated by comparison with the trajectory computed on the full-order computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. The main conclusion is that the error made by calculating the energy requirements for a specific trajectory based on an inexpensive reduced-order model of the wind field instead of an expensive full-order CFD database is only a few percent in all investigated cases. Therefore, a reliable and trustworthy trajectory can be calculated from the inexpensive reduced-order model obtained with only a few velocity sensors. Furthermore, it is shown that the energy consumption along a trajectory could be reduced by up to 20% by taking the prevailing wind field into consideration instead of considering the shortest path.

Objectives This study aimed to assess the prevalence of oral lesions in patients living with HIV infection and their association with CD4 count, viral load, and antiretroviral therapy in patients with HIV. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 161 patients attending the… All the patients were examined for their oral lesions, current CD4 counts, type, and duration of the therapy. Data analyses were carried out using Chi-Square, Student T/Mann-Whitney, and logistic regression tests. Results Oral lesions were observed in 58.39% of patients with HIV. Periodontal disease with 78 (48.45%) or without mobility 79 (49.07%) was observed more frequently, followed by hyperpigmentation of oral mucosa 23 (14.29%), Linear Gingival Erythema (LGE) 15 (9.32%), candidiasis pseudomembranous 14 (8.70%). Oral Hairy Leukoplakia (OHL) was observed only in 3 (1.86%). A relationship between periodontal disease with dental mobility and smoking was found (p = 0.04), as well duration of treatment (p = 1.53e-3) and age (p = 0.02). Hyperpigmentation was related to race (p = 0.01) and smoking (p = 1.30e-6). CD4 count, CD4:CD8 ratio, viral load, or type of treatment were not associated with oral lesions. Logistic regression showed that the duration of treatment has a protective effect on the periodontal disease with dental mobility (OR = 0.28 [−2.27 to −0.25]; p-value = 0.03), independent of age or smoking. To hyperpigmentation, the best model included smoking (OR = 8.47 [1.18-3.10], p = 1.31e-5), without race or type and duration of treatment. Conclusion Among HIV patients undergoing antiretroviral treatment, oral lesions can be observed, predominantly periodontal disease. Pseudomembranous candidiasis and oral hairy leukoplakia were also observed. No relationship was found between associated oral manifestations in HIV patients and the start of the treatment, TCD4+ and TCD8+ cell count, TCD4:TCD8 ratio, or viral load. The data indicate that there is a protective effect of duration of treatment with relation to periodontal disease with mobility and that hyperpigmentation seems to be more related to smoking than type and duration of treatment. Thermal comfort is one of the main factors that influence the productivity of dairy cattle. The temperature-humidity index (THI) is one of the most used indicators to evaluate thermal comfort levels. This work aimed to evaluate the levels of thermal comfort for bovine dairy production in Rio Grande do Sul state through the THI calculation and its impact on milk production, considering daily yields of 15 kg and 30 kg per cow. The THI values and decrease in milk yield were calculated using data between 1990 and 2021 from the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET). The observed results considering the average temperatures showed that conditions of thermal discomfort occur only in summer, intensifying in January. Milk production was most affected in the western border region of the state, corresponding in parts to the physiographic regions of Alto Uruguai, Missões, and Campanha, which have a warmer climate. The climate classification proposed by Maluf had the best spatial correspondence with the ITU. This classification may be used in the evaluation of places with greater suitability for dairy farming in the state and to indicate places where it is necessary to implement action to mitigate the effects of thermal discomfort in dairy cattle.

Currently, little is known about the differences in medical knowledge acquisition between osteopathic and allopathic orthopedic surgery residents. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Orthopaedic In-Training Examination (OITE) performance and training pathway in orthopedic surgery. This was a retrospective cohort study of all orthopedic surgery residents taking the OITE during the 2019–2020 academic year. Comparisons in OITE performance were made with parametric tests. A total of 4407 orthopedic surgery residents were in allopathic (86%) and osteopathic (14%) training programs. There was significant improvement in OITE performance between subsequent postgraduate year (PGY) levels among allopathic residents ( P P P >.05). At the PGY1 level, osteopathic residents had higher OITE performance than allopathic residents ( P P >.05). El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo “determinar qué relación existe entre el pensamiento crítico y creativo en los estudiantes ingresantes a la Facultad de Educación y Ciencias de la Comunicación de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, 2021”. Estudio descriptivo-correlacional. Se empleó una muestra de 105 estudiantes ingresantes a los programas de Educación Inicial (19), Educación Primaria (25) y Educación Secundaria (61). Para medir el pensamiento crítico, se empleó la subescala de del Test HAPE-ITH y, para el pensamiento creativo, test de los 8 tipos de creatividad de Jason Theodor, a través de una escala dicotómica. Los resultados evidencian que existe una correlación directa fuerte y significativa entre pensamiento crítico y creativo (Rho=0.525; p=0.001) entre ambas variables. Asimismo, una correlación directa moderada y significativa entre el pensamiento crítico y las dimensiones del pensamiento creativo: Cantidad de ideación (Rho =0.367; p=0.001), calidad de la solución de problemas (Rho de Spearman =0.355; p=0.001) y Originalidad e innovación (Rho =0.341; p=0.001).

INTRODUÇÃO: A hematopoese conceitua-se como o processo de regulação e produção contínua de células do sangue. Esse ciclo garante que o número de células especializadas seja reposto, além de auxiliar na homeostase em meio a situações que exijam do organismo uma produção acentuada, como processos infecciosos. OBJETIVO: realizar uma revisão bibliográfica a respeito da importância do processo hematopoetico. MÉTODO: Realizou-se uma revisão sistemática através da base de dados Scielo, CSH Perspectives, além de livros como Guyton, Moore, Lorenzi, Zago, e Junqueira usando-se as palavras-chave: hematopoese, hematopoese e homeostase, Células hematopoéticas, medula óssea. Foram selecionados materiais publicados entre 2001 e 2021. A hematopoese trata-se de uma atividade fundamental para a homeostase do organismo, onde conceitos básicos desse sistema foram definidos biologicamente. Mas ao mesmo tempo, muitas disputas na pesquisa da hematopoiese ilustram nossa compreensão ainda limitada revelando a relevância de se estudar a temática. CONCLUSÃO: Diante do exposto, tem-se que a hematopoese, é vital desde a vida intrauterina, ocorrendo em diferentes sítios conforme as fases do desenvolvimento. Para que esse sistema tenha funcionamento pleno necessita-se da ação de fatores que induzam a proliferação, diferenciação e crescimento das células ainda imaturas. Portanto, é indubitável que sem esse processo seria inviável manter o equilíbrio do organismo, principalmente em quadros como infecções, sangramentos, hipóxia e anemias, que exigem uma adaptação da hematopoese. Não obstante, também está sendo pautado o desenvolvimento de terapias que tem a capacidade de revolucionar tratamentos, a exemplo da utilização de CTH’s na anemia falciforme. Por conseguinte, apesar da evidente importância da hematopoese, ainda são escassos os estudos atualizados e aprofundados a respeito do tema, demandando uma maior atenção da comunidade científica.

HER2-enriched tumors are responsible for 20% of breast tumors and have high rates of immune infiltrates in the tumor stroma that respond favorably to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. In the context of tumors, telomeres control cell death and prevent tumor cells from replicating discontinuously, leading to their immortalization. This study aimed to evaluate the presence of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, hTERT expression, hTERT promoter mutation, and leukocyte telomere length in HER2-enriched breast tumors. A total of 103 cases were evaluated, 19 with pathologic complete response. The TILs percentage was above ≥10 in 44 cases (43%) and significantly present in patients ≥50 years of age. hTERT staining positivity was mostly nuclear, significantly present in the non-pCR group, and associated with a lower survival rate. Leukocyte telomeres were elongated for HER2-enriched tumors, and in multivariate analysis, shortening was associated with an increased risk of death. Overall, our results show that the nuclear and cytoplasmic presence of hTERT may indicate a worse prognosis and that leukocyte telomere elongation is a protective factor.

In 2020 and 2021 we detected in Catalonia (NE Spain) six new episodes of mortality or presence of dying specimens in introduced Mediterranean painted frogs (Discoglossus pictus). All affected individuals were positive to the amphibian chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd). Histological examinations showed intense involvement of the superficial layers of the epidermis and qPCR analyses yielded infection loads greater than 100 000 genomic equivalents of zoospores. These results suggest that this introduced species could behave as a Bd ‘supershedder’, and recommend to control its expansion due to its important role in the dynamic of chytridiomycosis.

The worldwide outbreak of monkeypox has evidenced the usefulness of the dermatologic manifestations for its diagnosis.To describe the histopathologic and immunohistochemical findings of monkeypox cutaneous lesions.This is a retrospective histopathologic and immunohistochemical study of 20 patients with positive Monkeypox virus DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunohistochemical positivity for Vaccinia virus in cutaneous lesions. Four cases were also examined by electron microscopy.The most characteristic histopathologic findings consisted of full-thickness epidermal necrosis with hyperplasia and keratinocytic ballooning at the edges. In some cases, the outer root sheath of the hair follicle and the sebaceous gland epithelium were affected. Intraepithelial cytoplasmic inclusion bodies and scattered multinucleated keratinocytes were occasionally found. Immunohistochemically, strong positivity with anti-Vaccinia virus antibody was seen in the cytoplasm of ballooned keratinocytes. Electron microscopy study demonstrated numerous viral particles of monkeypox in affected keratinocytes.Small sample size. Electron microscopic study was only performed in four cases.Epidermal necrosis and keratinocytic ballooning are the most constant histopathologic findings. Immunohistochemical positivity for Vaccinia virus was mostly detected in the cytoplasm of the ballooned keratinocytes. These findings support the usefulness of histopathologic and immunohistochemical studies of cutaneous lesions for diagnosis of monkeypox.

Objectives: To describe the experience of planning and executing the development of health education actions at a public hospitalization unit for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. Methodology: This is an experience report about health education actions performed by nursing professionals. The actions occur since 2014, with an interruption between 2020 and 2022, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, and are directed to patients undergoing transplantation, as well as their caregivers and or family members. Results: One of the main results achieved through the actions, is the promotion of self-care of patients, mediated by health education, respecting particularities and social context, in addition to the promotion of the reception of these and their caregivers. Final considerations: The elaboration and implementation of educational actions, as well as the use of health educational technologies, become fundamental for the promotion of self-care, adherence to treatment, as well as the welcoming of patients after Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and their caregivers during the health-disease process.

Introduction: The in situ simulation modality is being used to train professionals. Objectives: Conduct literature searches on the main contributions of in situ simulation to the training of professionals in the health area and for hospital institutions. Methodology: Integrative review, with a qualitative approach. A search was carried out for full-text articles published from January 2017 to December 2022, in the BVS and Pubmed. Eighteen articles were selected for analysis. Results: 3 categories emerged: 1. Contributions of in situ simulation for health professionals; 2. For hospital institutions and 3. For healthcare users. Discussion: The in situ simulation brought several benefits, such as better preparation of professionals and the team, reduction of hospital costs and improvement of care processes that involve patient safety. Conclusion: The studies showed that in situ simulation is being characterized as a good training strategy for professionals who make up the multidisciplinary health team.

O presente artigo foi realizado a partir de compilação de dados pré-existentes na literatura nacional e internacional e tem como objetivo analisar e discutir as condições geológicas do planeta Marte e o seu potencial para colonização humana, trazendo informações de estudos realizados principalmente pelas sondas enviadas a Marte, realizando o mapeamento de forma geral e através de análises in situ das rochas e solos. Com base nisso, foi realizado uma planetologia comparada, entre Terra e Marte, principalmente em se tratando das análise das estruturas geológicas presentes em ambos os planetas, para determinar se houve ou possa existir água em Marte, recurso essencial para a habitação de seres humanos. Além disso, problemáticas como a ausência de um campo magnético, que pode prejudicar qualquer ser vivo devido a alta radiação solar pela qual o mesmo se encontra exposto; e das imensas tempestades de poeira, que ameaçam devastar estruturas e persistirem por semanas, fazem com que habitar Marte se torne arriscado. Foi possível determinar esses principais fatores que impedem a colonização do Planeta Vermelho, analisado as informações obtidas por sondas enviadas pela Agência Espacial Americana (NASA) e pela Agência Espacial Europeia (ESA) e propondo ideias que podem ser capazes de tornar possível a colonização marciana, como a criação de um efeito estufa, impedindo o aumento das tempestades de poeira e da inserção de uma magnetosfera artificial. Esta última se mostra como sendo a principal solução para as problemáticas abordadas. E com a criação de uma magnetosfera, possibilita que Marte fique mais similar com a Terra e mais confortável no que diz respeito à colonização, com a mais avançada tecnologia criada pelo homem até então e por maiores estudos acerca do planeta.

El objetivo del estudio fue sistematizar y analizar el pensamiento filosófico de Bruno sobre la concepción de magia en el renacimiento. La importancia de la investigación fue entender la cosmovisión bruneana que sigue vigente en el desarrollo del avance de la ciencia. Siendo la conclusión que el concepto de mago es equivalente a sabio, y se manifiesta a través de los tipos de magia: Divina, Física, Matemática y en función del vínculo entre el mago y la naturaleza: magia natural, fantasmagórica, magia natural por virtud, magia matemática, de los desamparados, nigromancia, maléfico, adivinación y profecía.

Promotion within academic surgery involves demonstrated excellence in administrative, clinical, and scholarly activities. The present study analyzes the relationship between scholarly and clinical productivity in the field of reconstructive microsurgery.This is a retrospective cohort study of microsurgery fellowship directors (MFDs). Data on clinical productivity were obtained from the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and scholarly productivity from Scopus. Outcomes were department annual free flap volume, number of publications, and h-index. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and nonparametric tests were used to compare continuous variables.Thirty-nine MFDs were included in this study. All were plastic surgery residency trained and 38% trained under the independent training pathway. Most underwent formal fellowship training in reconstructive microsurgery (89%). The top three microsurgery fellowships trained 37% of all MFDs. Twenty-five percent of MFDs trained at the institution where they ultimately became program director. Twenty percent of MFDs had an additional degree (4 MS, 2 PhD, and 1 MBA). The median number of annual free flaps performed per institution was 175 (interquartile range [IQR] 122). The median h-index was 17 (IQR 13) resulting from 48 (IQR 99) publications. There was a correlation between department annual free flap volume and h-index (r = 0.333, P = 0.038).There is a correlation between academic productivity of MFDs and the clinical productivity of their department. This study provides a benchmark for aspiring reconstructive microsurgeons.

O objetivo é analisar a relação entre Governança Pública Local e Planejamento do Turismo à luz de preceitos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Os procedimentos metodológicos, sob abordagem qualitativa empregaram pesquisas documental e de campo, observação não participante e análise temática de conteúdo, a partir de dados obtidos em um destino turístico da gastronomia no Brasil. Como resultados, observou-se disparidades no que concerne às ações voltadas para o desenvolvimento do turismo no município. Além disso, verificou-se que a governança está centrada em um núcleo de atores, os quais determinam o desenvolvimento do turismo no município estudado, possibilitando a proposição da noção: Core Governance. Por fim, ao relacionar essa governança com os preceitos de planejamento turístico sustentável, identificou-se um ordenamento do turismo, com perspectivas conflitantes, cujas percepções apontam para uma operacionalização com base no crescimento econômico de curto prazo, em detrimento de ações essenciais para a coesão social, conservação cultural e das tradições autóctones, que fazem parte do acervo turístico do município, ainda que se manifestem intenções sobre desenvolvimento sustentável.
