- Abstract
Ks. Andrzej Wyrzykowski należy do grona wybitnych duchownych diecezji sandomierskiej, którzy posługiwali w niej w pierwszej połowie XX w. Polskie Towarzystwo Krajoznawcze, Liga Obrony Powietrznej i Przeciwgazowej, straż pożarna). Jednocześnie kapłan ten brał udział w życiu politycznym Sandomierza, np. był członkiem Rady Miasta z ramienia Związku Ludowo-Narodowego. Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu są szczegółowe kwestie związane z działalnością społeczną i polityczną ks. Andrzeja Wyrzykowskiego. Zamieszczone tu informacje zaczerpnięto zarówno z archiwów kościelnych (Biblioteka Diecezjalna w Sandomierzu), jak i państwowych (Archiwum Państwowe w Kielcach Oddział w Sandomierzu).

- Abstract
The article explores the phenomenon of remote work and the risks connected with this mode of work as seen by the employee, employer, and society. This approach was adopted when presenting data related to remote work of civil servants in the years 20202022. The accompanying technological and legal barriers were also taken into account. It was revealed that so far the activities undertaken in the area of performing professional duties have been fairly reactive. Thus, it is vital that the aforementioned actions become more proactive so as to enable remote work or the hybrid mode of work to become a lasting component of the way organisations operate.

This paper depicts a category of memory in the works by Vadim Borisov, a historian of the Orthodox Church and a literary critic, whose fate in the communist period was strictly connected to the political activity of A. Solzhenitsyn. The most known works by Borisov are primarily devoted to various issues of the Soviet people in the philosophical and historical perspective, but they also stress the problem of memory very clearly. The author of the article characterises several aspects of the phenomenon juxtaposing them with the theories proposed by contemporary memory scientists. The scrutiny shows that Borisov's deliberations surpassed the boundaries of political discourse underlining cultural and religious dimensions of the given problem which have become an important subject under consideration of many subsequent scholars.

General Medicine - Abstract

General Medicine - Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of locomotor disorders in overweight and obese women attending physiotherapy treatments compared to normal-weight subjects, taking into account selected elements of their lifestyle, i.e. leisure activities and diet. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in a group of 222 women aged 35-45 years who attended outpatient physiotherapy treatments at the Health and Rehabilitation Centre in Biala Podlaska for chronic diseases of the locomotor system between September and November 2021. Based on the value of the BMI index, the subjects were divided into three groups: normal BMI values, overweight, and obese. The prevalence of locomotor disorders was evaluated in these groups. A diagnostic survey method using the author's questionnaire was used to determine leisure-time activities and diet. Results: It was proved that the nature of degenerative changes in the locomotor system is related to the value of the body mass index (BMI) and the lifestyle of the subjects. In women with a normal BMI, lumbosacral and cervical spine pain as well as painful shoulder syndrome and tennis elbow were the most common. In contrast, in overweight and obese subjects, in addition to lumbosacral spine pain, knee and hip pathological states were the main reasons for physiotherapy treatments. Conclusions: Overweight and obese women make more dietary mistakes than those with a normal BMI and prefer passive leisure activities.

General Medicine - Abstract
The article presents the issues of local identity. One of the main objectives was to indicate how to determine the local identity of councilors of municipalities and counties on the basis of three selected indicators. The article consists of three parts. The first will present the theoretical foundations of identity and its types. The second part shows how it can determine the local identity. The third part is empirical. The study, carried out with the use of a questionnaire, covered the councilors of the city of Lublin, the council of lubelski county, and councilors from 8 municipalities included in lubelski county. The electoral terms 2002–2006 and 2014–2018 were selected for the analysis. The quantitative and descriptive methods were used in the study. The analysis of the research shows that the overwhelming majority of councilors show local identification, but its territorial range is different and not only at the municipality and county level.

Fuel Technology ,Energy Engineering and Power Technology - Abstract
The aim of the article is to present the use of the social participation tool, which is a protest in the form of a public assembly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The following research hypothesis was put forward: if citizens express their objections in the form of protests in the urban municipality, their main addressee is the central government, not the local authorities. Research questions focused on the decline in public gatherings and new protests emerging during the pandemic. Four cities were selected for the research: Wrocław, Gdańsk, Lublin and Katowice. In the article was used the institutional-legal, comparative and content analysis methods. The literature on the subject, data from the Public Information Bulletin (BIP) and press articles in the years 2020-2021 were analyzed. The results of the research confirm that the number of assemblies in the analyzed period did not drop significantly, and the protests were largely nationwide rather than local.

The ecogeographic rule known as Bergmann's rule suggests that there is a positive relationship between body size and latitude when comparing closely related taxa. The underlying mechanism or mechanisms to explain this pattern vary as widely as the taxa that seem to follow it, which has led to skepticism over whether Bergmann's rule should be considered a rule at all. Despite this, Bergmann's rule is widespread among modern birds, mammals, beetles, and some amphibians, but far fewer extinct taxa have been subjected to tests of Bergmann's rule. To examine whether Bergmann's rule is detected in extinct taxa, we compared body-size proxies in Lystrosaurus recovered from Early Triassic–aged strata in Antarctica, South Africa, India, and China. Our results reveal that average body size is largest at mid-northern paleolatitudes (~45°N) instead of the highest southern paleolatitudes (~70°S). Additionally, maximum body size is consistent across the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, indicating that Bergmann's rule did not apply for Lystrosaurus during the Early Triassic. To test potential sample size biases in our results, we used rarefaction and subsampling to show that only the Karoo Basin is well sampled and that large individuals are exceedingly rare, except in the Turpan-Junggar Basin of Xinjiang, China. Taken together, our results suggest that Lystrosaurus had the potential to reach large body sizes in each of the latitudinally widespread geologic basins studied here, but that local conditions may have allowed individuals at mid-northern paleolatitudes a greater chance of reaching a large size compared with southern congeners that suffered increased mortality when young or at a small size.

International audience; Endothermy underpins the ecological dominance of mammals and birds in diverse environmental settings. However, it is unclear when this crucial feature emerged during mammalian evolutionary history, as most of the fossil evidence is ambiguous. Here we show that this key evolutionary transition can be investigated using the morphology of the endolymph-filled semicircular ducts of the inner ear, which monitor head rotations and are essential for motor coordination, navigation and spatial awareness. Increased body temperatures during the ectotherm–endotherm transition of mammal ancestors would decrease endolymph viscosity, negatively affecting semicircular duct biomechanics, while simultaneously increasing behavioural activity probably required improved performance. Morphological changes to the membranous ducts and enclosing bony canals would have been necessary to maintain optimal functionality during this transition. To track these morphofunctional changes in 56 extinct synapsid species, we developed the thermo-motility index, a proxy based on bony canal morphology. The results suggest that endothermy evolved abruptly during the Late Triassic period in Mammaliamorpha, correlated with a sharp increase in body temperature (5–9 °C) and an expansion of aerobic and anaerobic capacities. Contrary to previous suggestions, all stem mammaliamorphs were most probably ectotherms. Endothermy, as a crucial physiological characteristic, joins other distinctive mammalian features that arose during this period of climatic instability.

- Abstract
The research purpose was to identify the prevalence and intensity of Trichinella infection in the Eurasian wolf. The work on the diagnosis of trichinellosis and on the larvae isolation was performed in 2020–2022. Carcasses of wolves were brought from the territories of hunting farms of various regions in the European part of Russia. Muscle sections were examined by the compression method to detect Trichinella larvae. The Gastros apparatus was used to isolate Trichinella larvae. Peptolysis of muscle tissue using artificial gastric juice was performed using ACROS pepsin (Belgium, USA). Twelve animals were studied during the reporting period. The results of the in-house studies showed significant invasion in this animal species. Trichinella larvae were found in 58.3% of animals. The animals aged 1–3 years were the most infected by helminths. The least infected animals were 3–5 years old. The average intensity of Trichinella invasion was 29 larvae in one g of muscle tissue. These groups of animals were obtained by sport hunters in the Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Dagestan. The average rate of Trichinella infection in carnivores were in wolves up to one year old. The prevalence of infection in this group was 60.0% with an average intensity of 32 larvae in one g of muscles. Animals obtained on the hunting farms in the Tver and Ryazan Regions and the Republic of Karelia were free from the infection.

General Medicine - Abstract
The current study reports three different techniques to estimate the distribution of dislocation density at the mid thickness of 1050 Al alloy. It is well known that the strain distribution is inhomogeneous through the thickness of rolled materials, which affects the evolution of dislocation density during the process of deformation. In this study, the number of dislocations was calculated experimentally using indentation technique in 46.8% cold rolled 1050 Al sheet and the result was verified by two numerical methods.

General Earth and Planetary Sciences ,General Environmental Science - Abstract
Introduction Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a group of disorders that are manifested primarily by difficulties in interpersonal contact. Moreover, children with ASD have specific food habits, which can disturb their proper development. Nowadays, it is suggested that appropriate dietary interventions could help in the treatment of ASD. We will consider how effective a diet could be in this role. Aim This review aims to estimate the effectiveness of dietary interventions used in children with ASD based on scientific research. Material and method This article was created on the basis of a systematic review. Articles were searched using PubMed. The applied terms were: ‘diet in ASD’, ‘dietary interventions in Autism Spectrum Disorder’, ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’, ‘therapies in ASD’. We searched for studies that were published in less than the last 5 years, but older references were also obtained from analyzed articles. Results We received a total of 227 results. After selection, It was decided to use 21 studies with dietetic interventions. Conclusions The most commonly performed interventions are the ketogenic diet, the gluten-free caseinfree diet, and probiotic supplementation. Most studies do not have enough evidence that would allow drawing definite conclusions. Currently, modifying the diet does not appear to have a significant impact on ASD symptoms.

Proteins and amino acids are minor components of honey that are rarely used for its quality evaluation, although these components create its biological activity as well as can serve for overheating detection. The aim of the study was to use these indicators to confirm a declared on the label variety. Fifty-eight honey samples of 8 different varieties meeting the commercial quality requirements were used, including 28 local Polish and 30 commercial (mainly imported from EU and non-EU) honeys. For honey protein profiling previously used, polyacrylamide electrophoresis in denaturing conditions (SDS-PAGE) was applied whereas the free amino acid profile was analyzed by high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) for the first time. As auxiliary indicators, the colorimetric determination of the protein content by the Bradford method, the activity of 5 glycolytic enzymes, including diastase, β-galactosidase, N-acetyl-β-glucosaminidase, α-mannosidase, and α-glucosidase, and the content of proline were used. It has been shown that based on the determined model protein SDS-PAGE profiles for selected monofloral honeys, it is possible to detect honeys of questionable variety based on the lack of specific protein bands or their diverging intensity. The HPTLC amino acid analysis can serve as a supporting control tool, capturing differences in the amino acid profile. Due to a great variation of multifloral honey, such assays are effective for monofloral honey only. The colorimetric assays, especially for total protein and β-galactosidase, can be also useful. The applied tools can be proposed for the initial verification of honey variety for cost reduction of officially recognized melissopalynological analysis.

- Abstract
The development of urban areas, industrialization and increasing traffic intensity is a problem of air, soil and water contamination worldwide with various pollutants, some of which are heavy metals. The most significant sources of heavy metal pollution are industrial factories, processing of non-ferrous materials, mining activity and traffic intensity, with negative effects on both forest ecosystems and wildlife. This study was carried out in forest ecosystems affected by industrial pollution in the Baia Mare region (Maramureș). The study provides an analysis of the chemical elements accumulated in tree rings over 60 years, making it possible to analyze the dynamics of these elements over time. The sampling design was carried out systematically in order to make a comparison between trees in the intensively polluted area and those located at a fairly large distance, where local pollution had no effect. Thirteen chemical elements were analyzed, including heavy metals such as Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe and Mn. Higher concentrations of the elements Pb, Zn, Fe, Mn, Al, K, Si and Sr were found in tree rings from the intensively polluted area compared to those from the area unaffected by local pollution. Significant differences were found at 95% confidence interval for Zn, K and Ca concentrations.

- Abstract
ENMD-2076 is a novel orally active, small molecule kinase inhibitor with a mechanism of action involving several pathways key to tumor growth and survival: angiogenesis, proliferation, and the cell cycle. ENMD-2076 has selective activity against the mitotic kinase Aurora A, as well as kinases involved in angiogenesis (VEGFRs, FGFRs). ENMD-2076 inhibited the growth in vitro of a wide range of human solid tumor and hematopoietic cancer cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 0.025 to 0.7 μmol/L. ENMD-2076 was also shown to induce regression or complete inhibition of tumor growth in vivo at well-tolerated doses in tumor xenograft models derived from breast, colon, melanoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma cell lines. Pharmacodynamic experiments in vivo showed that in addition to inhibiting Aurora A, single doses of ENMD-2076 had sustained inhibitory effects on the activation of Flt3 as well as the angiogenic tyrosine kinases, VEGFR2/KDR and FGFR1 and 2. ENMD-2076 was shown to prevent the formation of new blood vessels and regress formed vessels in vivo at doses equivalent to those that gave substantial activity in tumor xenograft models. These results indicate that ENMD-2076 is a well-tolerated, orally active multitarget kinase inhibitor with a unique antiangiogenic/antiproliferative profile and provides strong preclinical support for use as a therapeutic for human cancers. Several phase 1 studies involving ENMD-2076 have been recently completed, and the compound is currently being evaluated in a phase 2 clinical trial in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. - Abstract
Purpose: ENMD-2076 is a unique orally bioavailable Aurora kinase and VEGFR inhibitor. The purpose of this phase 1 study of ENMD-2076 was to determine the MTD, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic profiles and preliminary antitumor activity.Experimental Design: Patients with refractory advanced solid malignancies were treated with ENMD-2076 orally with continuous once daily dosing. Doses from 60 to 200 mg/m2 were evaluated using a standard 3 (to 4) + 3 design. Pharmacokinetic parameters were studied on days 1, 28, and 30 to 35 of cycle 1. Expanded MTD cohorts included patients with ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, and refractory solid tumors. Results: A total of 67 patients (46 F, 21M; ages 30–76) entered the study. Dose levels of 60, 80, 120, 200, and 160 mg/m2 were evaluated. Two patients experienced grade 3 hypertension at 200 mg/m2, and additional grade 3 neutropenia events limited tolerability at this dose. An intermediate dose of 160 mg/m2 was determined to be the MTD. The most common drug-related adverse events included hypertension, nausea/vomiting, and fatigue. The pharmacokinetics of ENMD-2076 were characterized by a rapid absorption phase (Tmax 3–7.8 hours), a t1/2 of 27.3 to 38.3 hours after a single dose, and dose proportional exposure. Decreased plasma sVEGFR2 was observed posttreatment. Two patients with platinum refractory/resistant ovarian cancer had RECIST partial responses. Conclusions: ENMD-2076 was well tolerated, had a linear pharmacokinetic profile, and showed promising antitumor activity, particularly in ovarian cancer. The recommended phase 2 dose of ENMD-2076 is 160 mg/m2 administered orally once daily with continuous dosing. Clin Cancer Res; 17(4); 849–60. ©2010 AACR.

Ezen tanulmány három különböző módszert mutat be 1050-es alumíniumötvözet esetében a minta középvo- nalában lévő diszlokációk sűrűségének a becsléséhez. Jól ismert az a tény, miszerint hengerelt anyagoknál a deformáció inhomogén módon alakul a keresztmetszet mentén, ami hatással van a diszlokációsűrűség változására a deformáció folyamán. Jelen munkában a diszlokációk mennyiségét kísérleti úton számoltuk ki keménységmérés segítségével 46,8%-os deformációjú hidegen hengerelt 1050-es alumíniumötvözetben, majd az eredményt kétféle numerikus módszerrel igazoltuk.

Background. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of drone brood fixation in rape honey and to analyze changes in its antioxidant activity during storage. The fixation was carried out for frozen and lyophilized drone brood, which were mixed with honey in various proportions (1, 2, and 4 % w/w). The antioxidant activity (DPPH and FRAP methods) and the total content of polyphenolic compounds (TPC) after 3, 6, and 9 months of storage were analyzed. After 9 months of storage, the polyphenolic profile (HPTLC method) and physicochemical parameters of samples were assessed. Results and conclusion. The addition of drone brood to honey increased the antioxidant activity of the final product considerably (by 33 to 110 %), while only slightly affected the physicochemical parameters (conductivity and a diastase number) compared to control honey. Moreover, honey with the addition of drone brood still continued to meet the requirements for honey standard. The polyphenol profile obtained by HPTLC method for honey with the addition of drone brood was enriched mainly with ellagic and ferulic acids compared to control honey. It was found that fixing the drone brood in honey allows to maintain its antioxidant properties for 6 months, whereas a significant decrease in reducing power (FRAP) and polyphenolic content (TPC) during prolonged storage were observed (from 8 to 26 % ). Due to the fact that lower losses were observed for the addition of frozen than for lyophilized drone brood after 9 months of storage, preserving the frozen brood in honey (up to 5 % w/w) can be recommended as an effective and inexpensive method available in apiary conditions.

Paleontology - Abstract
Temnospondyl amphibians are common in non-marine Triassic assemblages, including in the Fremouw Formation (Lower to Middle Triassic) of Antarctica. Temnospondyls were among the first tetrapods to be collected from Antarctica, but their record from the lower Fremouw Formation has long been tenuous. One taxon, ‘Austrobrachyops jenseni,’ is represented by a type specimen comprising only a partial pterygoid, which is now thought to belong to a dicynodont. A second taxon, ‘Cryobatrachus kitchingi,’ is represented by a type specimen comprising a nearly complete skull, but the specimen is only exposed ventrally, and uncertainty over its ontogenetic maturity and some aspects of its anatomy has led it to be designated as a nomen dubium by previous workers. Here, we redescribe the holotype of ‘C. kitchingi,’ an undertaking that is augmented by tomographic analysis. Most of the original interpretations and reconstructions cannot be substantiated, and some are clearly erroneous. Although originally classified as a lydekkerinid, the purported lydekkerinid characteristics are shown to be unfounded or no longer diagnostic for the family. We instead identify numerous features shared with highly immature capitosaurs, a large-bodied clade documented in the upper Fremouw Formation of Antarctica and elsewhere in the Lower Triassic. Additionally, we describe a newly collected partial skull from the lower Fremouw Formation that represents a relatively mature, small-bodied individual, which we provisionally refer to Lydekkerinidae; this specimen represents the most confident identification of a lydekkerinid from Antarctica to date.

- Abstract
The evolution in the field of recrystallization related studies in FCC metals is summarized in this paper. The process of recrystallization which is initiated by stored energy is provided by dislocations. However, dislocations are introduced during the process of deformation, hence both aspects are covered, as well as the kinetics of recrystallization is well elaborated. The key features of recrystallization: role of misorientations; deformation and recrystallization textures; are described and most importantly recent issues on recrystallization of FCC metals are documented in this paper. The final remarks contain the future aspects of studies in the field of recrystallization of materials with FCC crystal structure.

- Abstract
In the present work, both symmetric and asymmetric rolling processes were investigated by means of numerical approaches. From the algorithm presented, the values of rolling pressure and sliding velocity in the roll gap were determined. These variables allow the estimation of tribological parameters of a given material. To determine the wear of the rolls and rolled materials the Archard's law has been employed. Results of numerical simulations show that the quantitative characteristics of the wear reveal a slight change for slower roll. Whereas the wear value for the faster roll increases with an increase of roll velocity ratio. It was found that for a given roll velocity ratio, rise of friction coefficient causes insignificant change in the wear value for the slower roll, while this value tends to decrease rapidly for the faster roll.

Acinetobacter baumannii is a Gram-negative saprophytic rod inhabiting both moist niches and dry surfaces. The wide spread of the microbe in the environment by means of minimal nutritional requirements and exceptional survival capabilities give the opportunities to occupy hospital niches, and thus to create threats for hospitalized patients. This bacterium may be a part of the human microbiota as an opportunistic pathogen which upon the host’s weakening, causes less or more serious diseases. A. baumannii is an etiological factor of ventilator-associated pneumonia, which is especially dangerous for patients in intensive care units (in Poland every fifth patient suffers from such infection). Due to the increasing multidrug resistance of A. baumannii, this bacterium belongs to the group of priority pathogens. Fighting such dangerous bacteria is difficult due to their natural resistance as well as acquired resistance mechanisms in response to environmental threats. The unique ability of A. baumannii to cause diseases and acquire resistance to numerous antibiotics, make it necessary to control and prevent these infections.

Crystallization of honey is a natural process occurring during honey storage and forces beekeepers to practice the decrystallization process, which mainly concerns honey heating. The aim of this study was to examine the possible use of ultrasounds or microwave radiation to delay the crystallization of honey and to liquefy crystallized honeys while maintaining their biological activity. Lime, acacia and multifloral honeys obtained from a local apiary were used. Fresh honeys were pretreated through ultrasounds (40 kHz, for 5 and 20 min) or microwaves (800 W, 4 x 30s) in order to obtain samples U5, U20 and M, respectively. Experimental and control samples were stored for twelve months at room temperature (20±2°C) without light. Crystallized honey was liquefied through the same methods of ultrasounds (sample U5* and U20*) and microwaves (sample M*). Naturally crystallized honeys were used as the controls. For fixed (U5, U20 and M) and decrystallized (U5*, U20*, M*) honeys, the water content (refractometrically), antioxidant properties (DPPH method), total phenolics content (Folin-Ciocalteu method) and enzymatic activity (diastase, α-glucosidase, β-galactosidase and α-mannosidase) were determined. The analyzed physicochemical parameters for both fixed and liquefied honeys did not differ significantly (P>0.05) in comparison to the control honey. Moreover, the decrystallization process increased the antioxidant activity of all tested honeys. The smallest changes in honey properties to ultrasonic treatments were observed, and this method was recommended to delay the crystallization process and significantly accelerate the liquefaction time of solid honeys without compromising its quality.

General Health Professions - Abstract
The current as well as the future industrial market for Aluminium (Al) is huge and various research is being under work regarding the usability of Aluminium. However, during the deep drawing of Aluminium several issues can be developed and some of them are originated from the fundamental material properties. One of these factors is the material texture, which is the preferred orientation of the constituent polycrystalline Al, and the characteristic texture is affected by different rolling and annealing schedules. To investigate the material texture, symmetric and asymmetric rolling trials were performed on a commercially available Al 1050 sample. Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) scanning has performed to determine the material composition and the crystallographic orientations of the investigated samples.

General Health Professions - Abstract
In the current work, the behavior of Al alloys during cold rolling is studied with the help of numerical approaches such as Finite Element (FEM) and Flow-Line (FLM) Models. The applicable simplifications for each method have been summarized in this contribution. For simulating the process of rolling, a material model was employed, which is based on the measured values obtained from the tensile test. The results of the conducted rolling experiments were compared with the numerical simulations performed by employing the experimental material models. The analysis of simulated and experimental data allowed us to evaluate the friction coefficient. A relationship has been established between the minimum friction coefficient necessary for rolling and the estimated one and this result is in a good agreement with the counterpart reported in literature sources. The established method was used for the evaluation of the characteristic components of the strain, namely the normal, shear, and equivalent components. The comparative study between recorded measurements and simulations indicates that both the FEM and FLM models can be successfully applied to simulate the symmetric cold rolling process of aluminum with sufficient accuracy.

Author(s): Jerjes-Sanchez, Carlos; Corbalan, Ramon; Barretto, Antonio CP; Luciardi, Hector L; Allu, Jagan; Illingworth, Laura; Pieper, Karen S; Kayani, Gloria; GARFIELD-AF Investigators | Abstract: BackgroundAtrial fibrillation (AF) is an important preventable cause of stroke. Anticoagulation (AC) therapy can reduce this risk. However, prescribing patterns and outcomes in patients with non-valvular AF (NVAF) from Latin American countries are poorly described.MethodsUsing data from the Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-AF (GARFIELD-AF), we examined the stroke prevention strategies and the 1-year outcomes in patients from four Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.ResultsA total of 4162 patients (2010-2014) were included in this analysis. At the time of AF diagnosis, 39.9% of patients were prescribed vitamin K antagonists (VKA) ± antiplatelet (AP) therapy, 21.8% non-VKA oral anticoagulant (NOAC) ± AP, 24.1% AP only and 14.1% no antithrombotic treatment. The proportion of moderate-high risk patients receiving no AC therapy at participating centers was highest in Mexico (46.4%) and lowest in Chile (14.3%). During 1-year follow-up, the rates of all-cause mortality, stroke/SE and major bleeding were: 5.77 (95% CI) (5.06-6.56), 1.58 (1.23-2.02), and 0.99 (0.72-1.36) and per 100 person-years, respectively, which are higher than the global rates across all countries in GARFIELD-AF. Unadjusted rates of all-cause mortality were highest in Argentina, 6.95 (5.43-8.90), and lowest in Chile, 4.01 (2.92-5.52).ConclusionsGARFIELD-AF results describes the marked variation in the baseline characteristics and patterns of antithrombotic treatments in patients with NVAF in four Latin American countries. Over one-third of patients with a moderate-to-high risk of stroke received no AC therapy, highlighting the need for improved management of patients according to national guideline. History ,Anthropology ,Agricultural and Biological Sciences (miscellaneous) - Abstract
The prospectus for The birds of America, which was used by John James Audubon as a marketing tool while canvassing for potential subscribers, went through a series of editions between 1827 and 1838. From a single folded sheet describing the general scope of the work and its price, the prospectus grew to 16 pages that incorporated a separate title-page, the names of subscribers, favourable reviews, and a list of the individual prints that had been published. As the project came to a close, Audubon encapsulated the salient details in advertisements printed in publications in England and America. Six editions, based on 16 extant copies, were identified by W. H. Fries in 1973. Since that time, additional information has become available about the various editions, including ones of which Fries was not aware. A summary and reclassification of the editions is appropriate to assist in better understanding the history and rarity of this publication.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is currently the most common cause of death in the world. Diet plays a significant role in the treatment of CHD. The purpose of this review is to present the current knowledge on natural products, including soybeans, garlic, black coffee, tea, and monounsaturated fatty acids, as well as components of the Mediterranean diet and Portfolio diet in supporting the treatment of CHD. A literature search was carried out in a scientific search engine database. Combinations of the following terms were used: “coronary heart disease”, “ischemic heart disease”, and “natural preparation of CHD”. Scientific publications were systematically examined to identify both direct and indirect evidence that met the aims of this review. Only articles that considered human subjects were included. After the selection process, a total of 28 articles were included in the review. The main findings were as follows: Garlic ameliorates the function of the endothelium, blood pressure parameters, and lipid profiles. Coffee improves glucose metabolism and shows antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Tea ameliorates the lipid profile. Monounsaturated fatty acids show antioxidant properties. The Mediterranean diet has antihypertensive and antioxidant properties and reduces inflammation. The Portfolio diet shows lipid-lowering and antioxidant properties. Diet in CHD is an extremely important factor supporting treatment and can significantly modify the parameters of cardiovascular risk. However, there is still a need for more research on the properties of natural products and their health effects.

Spectrophotometric methods for determining glycogen content are used in studies to quantify the effect of anthelmintics on carbohydrate and energy metabolism of helminths. The most specific of them include the method proposed by Krisman C.R., which was later adapted by Danchenko E.O. and Chirkin A.A. to apply in forensic medicine, and Andreyanov O.N. et al. in helminthology. Saturated solutions of calcium chloride and ammonium chloride are used in the procedure. It is known that the solubility of salts depends on temperature. Krisman C.R. studied the effect of calcium chloride on the optical density of the analyzed solutions depending on temperatures, but no detailed studies were made on the role of ammonium chloride. The present paper presents data on the effect of ammonium chloride on the optical density of the analyzed samples under the influence of temperatures in the range of 10–30 oC. This salt introduced to neutralize alkali increases the optical density of the solutions. It is found that ammonium chloride not only neutralizes the decrease in optical density, but also causes its increase as temperatures increase. In salt-free samples, the deviation from the specified glycogen content (0.1 mg) in the range of 10 oC was 12.1%, and with the addition of ammonium chloride, it decreased and varied within 4–8.5%. To improve the accuracy of the analysis, it is recommended to avoid studies in large temperature ranges.

- Abstract
Helminthozoonosis pose particular danger to people, and cause economic and environmental damage. The purpose of the work was to identify the current epizootic situation of helminthozoonosis of game animals in the Central Region of Russia. The material for the study was helminthological collections from game animals. Studies were carried out throughout 2019-2021. Killed animals were brought from hunting farms in the Central Region of Russia. Animal carcasses or their fragments were subjected to complete or partial helminthological examination. The found helminths were differentiated according to conventional determinants. A total of 182 carcasses of animals and birds were studied. 108 animals of 13 species belonging to Carnivora were studied by helminthological methods. One species of the Omnivorae was studied: the wild boar. Among ruminants (Ruminantia), 35 artiodactyls were studied. Helminth fauna of rodents (Rodentia) was studied in 33 animals of 5 species. Two species of birds (Aves) were studied. We identified about 14 types of helminthozoonosis, of which pathogens of trichinellosis, dirofilariasis, toxocariasis and alveococcosis are particularly dangerous. The main hosts and reservoirs of zoonosis are carnivores.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of different types of sealing on the physical losses of dry matter, chemical and fermentation characteristics and in situ digestibility of the dry matter of corn silage stored in the feed out face (ramp) of trench silos. The experimental design used randomized blocks, composed of three treatments, namely: T1 - corn silage preserved with double-sided polyethylene of 110 μm thickness (conventional seal); T2 - corn silage preserved with double-sided polyethylene of 200 μm thickness (double-sided); and T3 - corn silage preserved with oxygen-impermeable film composed of double-sided polyethylene of 80 μm thickness on a translucent vacuum polyamide film of 20 μm thickness (double sealing), with four repetitions each. The use of double-sided polyethylene with 200 μm thickness (double-sided) and oxygen impermeable film composed of double-sided polyethylene and polyamide (double sealing), were effective in preserving the chemical composition, fermentation profile, raw protein composition and fiber quality, in addition, the use of these polymers resulted in greater ruminal digestibility of dry matter and reduced the pH, temperature, temperature gradient and physical losses of corn silage from the feed out face (ramp) of trench silos compared to the conventional sealing.

Rationale: In heart failure (HF), impaired sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca 2+ release and cytosolic Na + overload depress mitochondrial Ca 2+ (mCa 2+ ) signaling, resulting in a diminished ability to maintain matrix NAD(P)H redox potential, leading to increased oxidative stress when workload increases. Enhancing mCa 2+ can reverse this defect but could potentially increase the likelihood of mCa 2+ overload. Objective: To determine if moderate mCa 2+ uniporter (MCU) overexpression has beneficial or detrimental effects on the development of HF and incident arrythmias in a guinea pig model (ACi) of HF and sudden cardiac death. Methods and Results: In vivo viral gene transfer was used to increase MCU levels by ≈57% in ACi hearts. Left ventricular myocytes from hearts with MCU overexpression (ACi+MCU) displayed enhanced mCa 2+ uptake, decreased oxidative stress, and increased β-adrenergic- and frequency-dependent augmentation of Ca 2+ transients and contractions, compared with myocytes from ACi hearts. MCU overexpression decreased SR Ca 2+ leak in the ACi group and mitigated the elevated RyR (ryanodine receptor) disulfide crosslinks in HF. β-Adrenergic responses were blunted in isolated perfused ACi hearts, and these deficiencies were normalized in ACi+MCU hearts. To examine the in vivo effects of MCU overexpression, ACi hearts were transduced with the MCU virus 2 to 3 weeks after aortic constriction, at the onset of cardiac decompensation. Two weeks later, cardiac function worsened in the untreated ACi group (fractional shortening: 39±1% at 2 weeks and 32±1% at 4 weeks), whereas MCU overexpression significantly improved cardiac function (36±1% at 2 weeks and 42±2% at 4 weeks). MCU overexpression in the decompensating ACi heart also attenuated pulmonary edema and interstitial fibrosis and prevented triggered arrhythmias. Conclusions: Moderate MCU overexpression in failing hearts enhances contractility and responses to β-adrenergic stimulation in isolated myocytes and perfused hearts by inhibiting mitochondrial oxidative stress-induced SR Ca 2+ leak. MCU overexpression also reversed HF and inhibited ectopic ventricular arrhythmias.
