El proceso de investigación que se propuso en este documento aportó una descripción del impacto que tiene el uso de herramientas digitales que han logrado envolver al estudiante y a su vez, permitió establecer si además de elevar los niveles motivacionales pudo influir en el desarrollo de habilidades relacionadas con procesos de comprensión lectora. Por ello, el objetivo general plantea: “Describir el impacto del uso de las TIC en los niveles de comprensión lectora en estudiantes del grado 5°JM del Colegio Nicolás Gómez Dávila”. Para ello, fue necesario ahondar en las siguientes categorías de análisis: Comprensión Lectora, Herramientas TIC y Acompañamiento familiar en procesos de comprensión lectora. El enfoque de la investigación fue de carácter cualitativo y el diseño de la investigación estuvo bajo las premisas de la investigación – acción. Para dar cuenta del objetivo de la investigación se aplicaron los siguientes instrumentos validados por un experto: una encuesta a los padres de familia, tres pruebas de entrada y tres pruebas de salida de comprensión lectora a 15 estudiantes del grado 5°JM. Esto permitió generar algunas recomendaciones dirigidas al fortalecimiento de la compresión lectora mediada por las TIC.

The recent implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) establishes a set of formal requirements that reinforce personal data protection, namely, those concerning the collection, treatment, and dissemination of data on research participants. With the application of this new legal provision at the European level, new types of restrictions are emerging, whose nature and reach intensify the tension between demands for privacy and scientific freedom in research. In this article, we take as a reference an ongoing research taking place in Portugal, in the field of Sociology of Health, concerning the consumption of medicines by professionals exposed to high-performance pressure. Our main objective is to identify and analyse the implications of regulatory challenges faced in the research process and how the researchers managed and overcame them. We present a critical narrative that sheds light on the nature of the choices taken while also assessing the practical implications for the operationalisation of the research. We conclude by noting that, despite the benefits that may flow from the application of GDPR, the new requirements regarding the protection of personal data may override the ethical principles of scientific research and strengthen regulatory restrictions on conducting research. In the research concerned, the significant practical implications were indirect access to participants, a more time-consuming process in terms of participant adherence and a temporal discrepancy between the different stages of recruitment.

Introdução: A disponibilidade de ecrãs tem sido associada a efeitos negativos. Pretendemos caracterizar e comparar o “tempo de ecrã” em crianças e adolescentes da área de Vila Nova de Gaia, com e sem psicopatologia. Material e Métodos: Estudo observacional, com amostra de conveniência e aplicação de questionários entre 1 de outubro de 2018 e 31 de junho de 2019 a crianças e adolescentes seguidos em Cuidados Saúdes Primários e em consulta de Psiquiatria da Infância e Adolescência. Resultados: Amostra de 223 participantes, 184 com psicopatologia (82,5%) e 39 sem (17,5%). A maioria apresentava “tempo de ecrã” superior ao recomendado (71,4%), com superioridade naqueles com psicopatologia (p=0,006). Verificámos o mesmo relativamente à utilização de dispositivos ao adormecer ou background TV (p=0,024 e 0,008, respetivamente). A covisualização foi mais frequente nos participantes sem psicopatologia (p=0,045). O “tempo de ecrã” superior ao recomendado, background TV e covisualização mantiveram‑se significativos após regressão logística (p=0,029, p=0,024 e p=0,013, e OR = 3,741 [IC 1,148‑12,194]; OR=3,494 [IC 1,175‑10,392] e OR = 0,249 [IC 0,083‑0,750] respetivamente). Discussão: Os resultados coadunam com o que éapontado na literatura sobre uma possível associação entre “tempo de ecrã” e psicopatologia. Será importante avaliar o efeito de causalidade desta associação. Conclusão: O “tempo de ecrã” éexcessivo e mais frequente nos participantes com psicopatologia. A uniformização de recomendações e adaptação à realidade portuguesa são de relevância crescente na atualidade.

Pensar em fluxos e deslocamentos de um devir crianceiro. Quais são os novos territórios capazes de serem compostos em oficinas realizadas com migrantes e refugiados, adolescentes alunos de escolas públicas e crianças? Que imagens brotam como potências de tais encontros? Este artigo organiza-se em três diferentes extratos a partir dos quais as representações de crianças migrantes e refugiadas compõem planos de pensamento e experimentação entre palavras e imagens. Apostando em algumas disjunções entre imagem e representação, consideraremos que esses planos, tais quais o objeto mundo ou qualquer objeto que seja capturado e transformado em imagem, poderá se subjetivar. À diferença do visual, que remete a figura a si mesma, as imagens criam remissões a uma outra coisa, trabalhando significados que supõem a relação entre todo e partes, as expectativas de preenchimento e as relações entre visibilidade e os seus significados. Os resultados das oficinas oferecem perspectivas de distintos modos de as imagens habitarem e instaurarem mundos outros.

Loneliness is a subjective experience escalating worldwide and affecting older adults. Digital solutions can play a major role in addressing loneliness, although its use has been facing resistance due to scarce involvement of older adults in its design. MOAI LABS is an ongoing European project that adopts a co-design process to develop digital solutions to address loneliness in older adults. This study reports the experience of loneliness shared by a group of eight community-dwelling older Portuguese adults (aged 64 to 86 years old), who are "experts by experience" (who feel alone). Findings were obtained from two co-creation sessions that were audio-recorded, and transcribed. The data analysis was performed involving the research team and the "experts by experience." Three themes emerged: 1) loneliness as a detrimental "state of the soul"; 2) loneliness reinforced by features of the aging process; and 3) loneliness builds more loneliness. MOAI LABS co-design process of digital solutions will embrace these experiences and involve frontline gerontological social workers who have experience with older adults' loneliness.

Background The ability to ‘age in place’ is dependent on a range of inter-personal, social and built environment attributes, with the latter being a key area for potential intervention. There is an emerging body of evidence that indicates the type of built environment features that may best support age friendly communities, but there is a need to expand and consolidate this, while generating a better understanding of how on how research findings can be most effectively be translated in to policy and practice. Methods The study is based on two case study cities, Curtiba (Brazil) and Belfast (UK), which have highly contrasting physical, social and policy environments. The study deploys a mix methods approach, mirrored in each city. This includes the recruitment of 300 participants in each city to wear GPS and accelerometers, a survey capturing physical functioning and other personal attributes, as well as their perception of their local environment using NEWS-A. The study will also measure the built environments of the cities using GIS and develop a tool for auditing the routes used by participants around their neighbourhoods. The study seeks to comparatively map the policy actors and resources involved in healthy ageing in the two cities through interviews, focus groups and discourse analysis. Finally, the study has a significant knowledge exchange component, including the development of a tool to assess the capacities of both researchers and research users to maximise the impact of the research findings. Discussion The HULAP study has been designed and implemented by a multi-disciplinary team and integrates differing methodologies to purposefully impact on policy and practice on healthy ageing in high and low-middle income countries. It has particular strengths in its combination of objective and self-reported measures using validated tools and the integration of GPS, accelerometer and GIS data to provide a robust assessment of ‘spatial energetics’. The strong knowledge exchange strand means that the study is expected to also contribute to our understanding of how to maximise research impact in this field and create effective evidence for linking older adult’s physical activity with the social, built and policy environments.

Objectivos: Caracterizar as referenciações efectuadas pelos Cuidados de Saúde Primários (CSP) à consulta da Unidade de Psiquiatria da Infância e da Adolescência (UPIA) do Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho (CHVNG/E); avaliar a comunicação entre os dois níveis de cuidados. Tipo de Estudo: Observacional descritivo transversal. Local: UPIA do Serviço de Psiquiatria e Saúde Mental do CHVNG/E. População: A amostra incluiu todas as referenciações dirigidas à referida unidade provenientes dos CSP, via ALERT P1®, durante os anos de 2010 e 2011. Métodos: Procedeu-se à análise descritiva das variáveis género, idade, motivo de referenciação, prioridade da referenciação, prioridade atribuída pelo triador, motivo de recusa/devolução do pedido, tempo de espera, comparência do utente e qualidade da carta de referenciação. Resultados: A análise incluiu 980 referenciações (61,5% do género masculino). A faixa etária entre os 6-10 anos foi a mais referenciada (41,4%). O motivo mais referenciado foi “Sinais/sintomas do comportamento da criança” (31,9%). De todos os pedidos, 16,9% foram considerados urgentes pelo médico de família. Destes, 11,6% foram considerados prioritários pelo triador. De todas as referenciações, 11,3% foram recusadas/devolvidas, maioritariamente devido a informação insuficiente (36,1%). Cerca de 90% das referenciações consideradas prioritárias foram agendadas num prazo = 60 dias e quase 100% das restantes referenciações foram marcadas num prazo = 150 dias. Das 853 primeiras consultas marcadas, 10,5% das crianças faltaram à consulta e não pediram remarcação da mesma. Cerca de 20% das referenciações foram consideradas de boa qualidade e cerca de 14% de má qualidade. Conclusões: Os resultados sugerem que a articulação e a comunicação entre o médico de família e o psiquiatra da infância e da adolescência são eficazes, embora alguns aspectos possam ser melhorados, nomeadamente a adequação das prioridades atribuídas e a qualidade da informação dos pedidos de consulta. Objectives: To characterize the referrals from Primary Health Care (PHC) to the child and adolescent psychiatry consultation unit of the Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho (CHVNG/E) and to evaluate the communication between these two levels of care. Study design: Cross-sectional. Setting: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit of Psychiatry and Mental Health Service of CHVNG/E. Population: Our sample included all referrals from primary care to the referral unit, using ALERT P1®, in 2010 and 2011. Methods: Descriptive analyses were performed regarding gender, age, reason for referral, priority of the referral, priority given by the psychiatrist, reason for refusal or return of referral, waiting time, patient attendance, and quality of the referral letter. Results: Our analysis was based in 980 referrals (61.5% male). Patients aged 6-10 years were the most commonly referred (41.4%). The most frequent reason for referral was ‘signs and symptoms of child behaviour’ (31.9%). Of all referrals, 16.9% were considered urgent by the family doctor. Of these, 11.6% were considered as urgent by the psychiatrist. Of all referrals, 11.3% were refused or returned, mainly because of insufficient information (36.1%). About 90% of the referrals considered as priorities were scheduled within = 60 days and almost 100% of the remaining referrals were scheduled within = 150 days. Of the 853 scheduled first consultations, 10.5% of the children missed the consultation and did not ask for another appointment. About 20% of the referral letters were considered of good quality and about 14% were considered of poor quality. Conclusions: Our results suggest that communication between family doctors and child and adolescent psychiatrists is effective. Some aspects need improvement, particularly the definition of urgency and the quality of information in the referral letters.

This study is an analysis of the Brazilian production of open educational resources (OER) through the perspective of teacher and student authorship. Starting with a bibliographical inquiry on the theme and a mapping of OER importance and usage for basic education in Brazil, as well as leaning on the history of open education, OER public policies, copyright laws, and Creative Commons, the research proposes the production of a recommendation guide on proper OER use for new concept co-production and co-learning. The production of such a guide can contribute to facilitate OER adoption and implementation processes in basic education. The relevance of applying OER in basic education is justified by its importance as an instrument to improve teaching by favouring co-learning through experience exchanges between teachers and students, between students, and between students and resources, as well as by providing more autonomy to students by allowing them to decide what, when, and through which medium to study.

This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License., Necroptosis is a regulated necrotic cell death that involves receptor-interacting protein kinases RIPK1 and RIPK3. Here, we report that edelfosine triggers a rapid and massive cell death in human glioblastoma cells with characteristics of necrosis. Only a minor proportion of edelfosine-treated cells underwent caspase-dependent apoptosis. Autophagy and a rapid influx of extracellular calcium into the cells had little impact on cell death. Levels of procaspase-8 were very low in necroptosis-prone glioma cells compared with the levels in other cancer cell types that underwent apoptosis upon edelfosine treatment. The RIPK1-dependent necroptosis inhibitors necrostatin-1 (Nec-1) and Nec-1s as well as siRNA-mediated silencing of RIPK3 inhibited edelfosine-induced necroptosis, resulting in increased caspase-dependent apoptosis in edelfosine-treated glioblastoma U118 cells. Inhibition of the RIPK3 substrate MLKL with necrosulfonamide also increased apoptosis in edelfosine-treated cells. These data support a major role for RIPK1 and RIPK3 in the induction of necrotic cell death and in the switch from necrosis to apoptosis following edelfosine treatment. Glioblastoma is characterized by constitutive apoptosis resistance and survival signaling expression, but paradoxically is a necrosis-prone neoplasm. Incubation of human U118 glioblastoma cells with the antitumor alkylphospholipid analog edelfosine induced a potent necrotic cell death, whereas apoptosis was scarce. Preincubation of U118 cells with the selective MEK1/2 inhibitor U0126, which inhibits MEK1/2-mediated activation of ERK1/2, led to a switch from necrosis to caspase-dependent apoptosis following edelfosine treatment. Combined treatment of U0126 and edelfosine totally inhibited ERK1/2 phosphorylation, and led to RIPK1 and RelA/NF-κB degradation, together with a strong activation of caspase-3 and -8. This apoptotic response was accompanied by the activation of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway with mitochondrial transmembrane potential loss, Bcl-xL degradation and caspase-9 activation. Inhibition of ERK phosphorylation also led to a dramatic increase in edelfosine-induced apoptosis when the alkylphospholipid analog was used at a low micromolar range, suggesting that ERK phosphorylation acts as a potent regulator of apoptotic cell death in edelfosine-treated U118 cells. O artigo apresenta o Grupo Tecendo – Educação Ambiental e EstudosCulturais, da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Trata-se de umgrupo de pesquisa, atualmente integrado ao Núcleo de Infância, Comunicação,Cultura e Arte (NICA), da UFSC, cujos trabalhos articulam educação ambiental eestudos culturais a partir de perspectivas pós-estruturalistas. Iniciamos o ensaionos valendo de textualidades artísticas para marcar brevemente algunsentendimentos teóricos e práticos que temos operado em nossas pesquisas,principalmente quando usamos noções como cotidiano e lugar. Em seguida,apresentamos o histórico do nosso grupo, que completa dez anos de existêncianeste ano de 2011. Por fim, o ensaio é encerrado com um resumo das trêsprimeiras dissertações de mestrado desenvolvidas no grupo.

À escola vão crianças e jovens de diferentes origens sociais e culturais que se veem confrontados com uma cultura escolar normalizadora que os impede de ter sucesso escolar e de ver efetivado o direito à educação e a outros direitos humanos. Gerir esta diversidade de forma positiva significa fazer com que a diferença não seja sinónimo de estigmatização e exclusão escolar e social. Os assistentes sociais, possuidores de uma formação científica e técnica diversificada, reúnem as condições necessárias para intervir na efetivação do direito à educação porque são capazes de congregar e promover a colaboração e comunicabilidade indispensável entre saberes e atores educativos. Através de entrevistas a assistentes sociais que integram equipas multidisciplinares em agrupamentos de escolas da AMP procurou-se apreender como percecionam as suas funções, as tarefas nas quais elas se concretizam, isto é, as suas representações e práticas profissionais. Children and young people from different social and cultural backgrounds go to school and find themselves confronted with a normalizing school culture that prevents them from succeeding at school and from seeing their right to education and other human rights fulfilled. Positively managing this diversity means making the difference not synonymous with stigmatization and school and social exclusion. With a scientific and technical diversified background, social workers have the necessary conditions to accomplish the right to education because they can promote collaboration and essential communicability between knowledge and educational actors. Through interviews with social workers who are part of multidisciplinary teams in groups of schools in the Metropolitan Area of Oporto, we sought to understand professional practices about social and school mediation and how they perceive their functions.

O envelhecimento progressivo das sociedades é um fenómeno que tende a acentuar-se devido aos avanços científicos e à melhoria das condições de vida que permitem às pessoas viver mais. Mas se as conquistas em termos de anos de vida são, em si mesmas, positivas, a elas surge associado um conjunto de preconceitos relativos à idade. Assim, o idadismo tornou-se uma realidade presente, tanto nos discursos, como nas práticas. Os gerontólogos, como profissionais com conhecimentos teóricos e práticos sobre o envelhecimento, têm o dever ético e moral de lutar contra o idadismo. Disso se pretende dar conta neste artigo. The progressive aging of societies is an unavoidable phenomenon that tends to be accentuated due to the scientific advances and the improvement of living conditions that allow people to live longer. But if the achievements in terms of years of life are, themselves, positive, they are accompanied by a set of prejudices associated with age. Thus, ageism has become a present reality, both in speeches and in practices. Gerontologists, as professionals with theoretical and practical knowledge on aging have an ethical and moral duty to fight ageism. This is intended to be accounted for in this article.

A solidão e o isolamento social de adultos mais velhos têm-se constituído como preocupações sociais e de saúde pública crescentes na nossa sociedade cada vez mais envelhecida. Segundo a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS, 2021), o isolamento social e a solidão entre os idosos estão generalizados. Em alguns países, até 1 em cada 3 idosos são solitários e algumas das suas consequências são a redução do tempo de vida, a diminuição da saúde física e mental e, consequentemente, a redução da qualidade de vida. Um dos desafios mais referenciado pelos técnicos e pelas instituições sociais que operam no campo da intervenção gerontológica consiste, não obstante, em encontrar uma metodologia assente em indicadores que, de forma simples e objetiva, conduzam à sinalização deste tipo de situações de isolamento e de solidão. O que se pretende é objetivar a identificação de fatores de risco que conduzam os profissionais a diagnosticarem a solidão e o isolamento social, particularmente quando estas condições obrigam à agilização de intervenções minimizadoras e/ou reparadoras. Neste estudo, propomos a criação de um indicador compósito para priorizar a sinalização de pessoas idosas em risco de isolamento social, que designamos por CISP (Critério de Intervenção Social Prioritária). Este indicador tem por base a análise da informação recolhida através de cinco dos instrumentos mais importantes na área da avaliação gerontológica multidimensional, designadamente: Escala de Lubben; Índice de Barthel; Índice de Lawton; Teste de Declínio Cognitivo (6 itens - 6CIT) e a Escala de Depressão Geriátrica (15 itens - GDS-15). Desta forma, durante o ano de 2020, foi aplicado, a uma amostra de 235 pessoas com idades iguais ou superiores a 65 anos, um protocolo de recolha de informação contendo várias dimensões que incluíram dados desde as características sociodemográficas, autoavaliação dos recursos sociais, até aos diferentes instrumentos acima referenciados. Os resultados obtidos permitiram verificar que o indicador proposto (CISP), de forma geral, estava de acordo com a indicação proveniente da autoavaliação dos recursos sociais, reforçando e validando a hipótese inicial em torno da utilidade deste indicador. Concluímos, assim, que o indicador pode ser utilizado pelos profissionais como método de sinalização de pessoas idosas em risco de isolamento social, facilitando o diagnóstico e a intervenção dirigida a uma das mais graves problemáticas da atualidade no campo da intervenção gerontológica.
