LaQshya- labour room quality improvement initiative, a National Quality Assurance Programme was launched by the National Health Mission, Government of India in 2017 for improving the quality of services provided at the time of delivery and immediate post-partum period. The programme has been implemented at the Institute of Social Obstetrics, Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital for women and children from the year 2019. A plethora of changes have been brought about at the legendary institution since then. A retrospective programme review of the changes brought about at the Institute of Social Obstetrics, Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital for Women and Children in the dimensions described under the LaQshya program i.e.; structural improvement and process improvement and henceforth a comparison of the various outcome as key performance indicators before and after the implementation of the programme. The quality of Institute of Social Obstetrics Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital started at the bottom with 40%, under the guidance of LaQshya has improved to an astounding 93% making us the proud bearers of the prestigious platinum badge which was evident with the obvious improvement in various outcome indicators. Despite the implementation, LaQshya was an uphill trudge, to break old habits and restrain into new norms and guidelines, the results as mentioned proved to be a beautiful view at the end of the climb. LaQshya is indeed a boon not only to the mothers benefiting from it but also to the service provider as a tool to be a better health care personnel.

Refrigerator and air conditioners are the most energy consuming home appliances and for this reason many researchers had performed work to enhance performance of the refrigeration systems. Most of the research work done so far deals with an objective of low energy consumption and refrigeration effect enhancement. Thermoelectric refrigeration is one of the techniques used for producing refrigeration effect. Thermoelectric devices are developed based on Peltier and Seeback effect which has experienced a major advances and developments in recent years. The coefficient of performance of the thermoelectric refrigeration is less when it is used alone, hence thermoelectric refrigeration is often used with other methods of refrigeration. This paper presents a review of some work been done on the thermoelectric refrigeration over the years. Some of the research and development work carried out by different researchers on TER system has been thoroughly reviewed in this paper. The study envelopes the various applications of TER system and development of devices. This paper summarizes the advancement in thermoelectric refrigeration, thermoelectric materials, design methodologies, application in domestic appliances and performance enhancement techniques based on the literature.

A modulation scheme where the intensity of an optical source is modulated by the RF or mm-wave signal. Demodulation is achieved through direct detection of the optical carrier and conversion using a photo detector is called IM-DD Systems. In these systems the multi-layer modulation (MLM) is used to design both asymmetric clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM) and dc-biased optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) as a function. In this systems the DCO OFDM is more spectrally efficient than non-DC biased systems because this have better tradeoff between spectral and power efficiency. In the direct detection system, the detection process is non-linear due to the photo current proportional to absolute square of electric field intensity due to this the signal is slow. The equalizer is comprised of one hidden layer which leads to super-fast of the signal .The channel capacity for this systems can be measured by the transmitting of the signals. This IM/DD is a cost-effective optical communication which finds wide applications in fiber communication, free-space optical communication, and indoor visible light communication. In these systems when the bandwidth of signal exceeds the modulation bandwidth of LED, multi path effect occurs. Therefore, we use ACO-OFDM to avoid this multi path distortions. OFDM is a suitable efficient cost-effective solution for GPON deployment with benefit of use of low-cost laser bandwidth in comparison with DCO-OFDM. At the same BER performance, in comparison with D-C ACO-OFDM at high bit rates transmission, DCO-OFDM promises to deliver higher throughput.

The groundnut crop harbours heavy weed infestation due to its small stature and slow growing nature. The current weed management practices of hand weeding and use of commercial herbicides are unsuitable because of high labour cost and inadequate moisture availability to activate herbicides. In order to release the herbicide in a smart way, this experiment aimed to study the efficacy of encapsulated herbicides . Field experiments were conducted during Kharif 2021 and late Rabi 2022 under rainfed conditions in randomised block design with three replications. The treatments consisted of sulfentrazone, oxyfluorfen, diclosulam and metolachlor in both commercial and encapsulated form using two doses, hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS, weed free plot and weedy check. Minimum weed density (28.33 and 17.30 No./m2 at 90 DAS during Kharif and late Rabi respectively) and weed dry weight (65.33 and 61.25 g/m2 at 90 DAS during Kharif and late Rabi respectively) were observed in hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS (T19) followed by diclosulam @ 25 g ha-1 with encapsulation (T7). Maximum weed density and weed dry weight was observed in metolachlor @ 1 kg/ha with encapsulation (T8). Higher productivity was observed in hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS (T19) (1802 kg ha-1 and 1753 kg ha-1 pod yield during Kharif and late Rabi respectively) and higher profitability was obtained in diclosulam @ 25 g ha-1 with encapsulation (T7) (1.80 and 2.01 B:C ratio during (Kharif and late Rabi respectively). Nano-encapsulated herbicides can thus significantly improve weed control in rainfed groundnut.

Background: Naked-eye visual inspection of the cervix with acetic-acid wash (VIA), or cervicoscopy, is an alternative to cytology in screening for cervical cancer in poorly resourced locations. Aims: This study were to determine whether visualization of cervix after acetic acid can identify early cancer, and to detect lesions in symptom free women. Results: In present study mean age of cancer cervix is 35-39 yrs. Low socio-economic status, early age of marriage, early age at first child birth, high parity was associated with cervical cancer. Patients who had erosions, leukoplakia or unhealthy cervix should take as high-risk group and subject to screening procedures. 26.8% patients with healthy cervix had positive acetowhite areas and were proven for cervical cancer by biopsy. Most common symptom with which the patients presented were white discharge per vagina, menorrhagia. These symptoms correlated with the associated cervical cancer in 90% of cases. All patients with positive biopsy showed acetowhite areas. Conclusion: All the patients with acetic acid positive areas should be subjected to colposcopy and biopsy before treating them directly to avoid false positive cases, since biopsy is the gold standard.

The interaction of cancer cells with their tumor microenvironment determines key events in the progression of the disease, therapeutic efficacy, and the development of drug resistance. Here, we presented evidence that tamoxifen support breast cancer growth during nutrition deprivation by modulating mitochondrial dynamics through AMPK and MAPK signaling. Tamoxifen enhances mitochondrial fusion under nutrition-deprived conditions by suppressing Drp1 ser616 phosphorylation and upregulating Mfn1 levels. Tamoxifen-induced mitochondrial fusion is mediated by the activation of AMPK as evident by the pharmacological inhibition of AMPK reverse mitochondrial fusion. Interestingly, JNK activation by tamoxifen controls the mitochondrial fusion morphology by downregulating Mfn2. Collectively, tamoxifen support cell growth by enhancing mitochondrial fusion by regulating stress kinase signaling under nutrition deprivation condition.

Introduction and Aim: Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT) and spirometry are commonly used tests to assess the functional status of the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) patients. However, many other simpler tests like Sit to Stand Test (STST) are also available. This study is done to assess the utility of STST in comparison to 6MWT to evaluate the functional status of COPD patients in our hospital. Materials and Methods: This study is a prospective and an observational study conducted on 50 COPD patients. Each patient underwent spirometry and subjected to 6MWT and STST. Quadriceps femoris muscle powers are measured for every patient before start of study. During the test, dyspnoea grade, Pulse rate, respiratory rate, saturation and blood pressure were measured. Results: In this study group mean age was 60.38±11.09 years, mean FEV1 55.24% ±16.18% and then 6MWT and STST were correlating with each other. On comparing parameters hemodynamic parameters before and after performing 6MWT and STST for 30 seconds. There is significant correlation between 6MWT and STST using Pearson’s correlation. However, there is a negative correlation between FEV1 and both 6MWT and STST. Conclusion: Sit to stand test is less time consuming, repeatable and easy to perform. STST can also determine the functional status of COPD patient similar to Spirometry and Six-minute walk test. Hence, STST can be an alternative test for Spirometry and 6MWT in COPD patients in a limited resource facility.

Background: Granuloma annulare (GA) is a benign, self-limiting inflammatory skin condition of unknown origin that may occur following multiple etiological triggers. GA incited secondary to vaccinations has been rarely reported in the medical literature. The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced extensive global immunization against the SARS-COV-2 virus, bringing a gamut of vaccine-related complications. We elucidate a case report of the spontaneous eventuality of GA following ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Recombinant Vaccine. Case Report: A healthy 26-year male presented with a one-week history of asymptomatic single, flesh-pink patch with a raised margin over his left ventral forearm. On close examination, the margin of the lesion had multiple annularly arranged papules. Biopsy of lesion was done, and histopathology revealed numerous palisading granulomas in the dermis consistent with findings of localized GA. The patient was managed with once-daily external application high potent topical corticosteroids, which was used intermittently by the patient. However, the lesion showed spontaneous resolution in one month. Conclusion: Identifying ChAdOx1 nCoV- 19 Vaccine-related adverse events following its first dose is paramount, as evidence of the proportion of local or systemic severe cutaneous adverse skin reaction (SCAR) on subsequent dosing is a paucity. A more extensive systematic review corroborating SCARs and safety profile following immunization with ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Vaccine prevails to be the need of the hour.

Amaranth dye (AD) is trisodium (4E)-3-oxo-4-[(4-sulfonato-1- naphthyl) hydrazono] naphthalene-2, 7-disulfonate and anionic in nature. In the present investigation, waste biomasses such as Terminalia chebula shell (TCS), Peltophorum pterocarpum leaf (PPL) and Psidium guajava bark (PGB) are explored as biosorbents for the first time toward the removal of AD from aqueous solution in a batch method. Influence of biosorption parameters such as pH, initial concentration of AD, biosorbents (TCS, PPL, PGB) dosage, temperature and contact time was studied. Biosorption equilibrium data was analyzed using two parameter isotherms. The kinetics of the biosorption process was analyzed using different models to understand the rate-determining step. The results of the biosorption experiment and modeling investigation illustrated that the pseudo-second-order rate equation fits the experimental data and further the experimental results showed Langmuir isotherm fitted well the biosorption equilibrium data. TCS showed more efficiency toward the removal of AD than PPL and PGB. The value of enthalpy for TCS is 1.527 kJ/mol suggests that the AD removal process is endothermic. The positive value of entropy is 6.429 J/mol K indicates that the particle is randomly disordered and negative values of standard Gibbs free energy (ΔG°) suggested that the biosorption process is spontaneous.Novelty statementBiomasses of Terminalia chebula shell (TCS), Peltophorum pterocarpum leaf (PPL) and Psidium guajava bark (PGB) reported as first time explored biosorbent for amaranth dye (AD) removal from aqueous solution.Optimal biosorption parameter for AD removal determined.Experimental data examined using isotherm, kinetic and thermodynamic analysis.

In the current work the reinforcement effect of nano and micro scale fillers separately and in combination (dual scale filler reinforcement) in polypropylene thermoplastic was investigated. The composites was prepared using counter rotating twin screw extruder at a screw speed of 100 rpm and the set temperature profile varying from 150 to 210 °C. The morphological investigations performed by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed the uniform distribution and dispersion of fillers within the matrix. The tensile strength and modulus obtained was notable at 2 wt% of nanosilica amongst the nanocomposites, whereas in the dual scale filler reinforced composite 4 wt% of nanosilica content displayed the enhanced tensile and barrier properties. The hybrid composite incorporated with 4 wt% of nanosilica and 15 wt% of glass fiber offered higher restrictions to the solvent flow and is evinced with least permeability and diffusivity parameters.

3D printing is a process of producing 3D objects from CAD model. Using additive processes, 3D printing is done where a part is formed layer by layer. A melted affidavit model conveying ordinary surface examples with various element sizes and angle proportions will be produced on a FDM framework with various form directions. The surface finish of each 3D printed part will be inspected. The objective is to evaluate surface finish of different parts by changing the layer thickness and other parameters such as infill, infill pattern, roof thickness, floor thickness, and number of shells were considered for the study of build time optimization and also find out the relation between surface roughness and layer thickness.

Recently deep learning has shown a improved performance than machine learning in many of the areas like pattern recognition, image classification computer vision, video segmentation and many more. But out of all these areas, disease classification is one of the major area in which deep learning has shown a remarkable performance than the traditional machine learning algorithms especially in the area of image recognition. Machine learning algorithms are not enough capable to handle the image so in this work we will apply the deep learning approach on the Alzheimer's disease dataset for performing the early detection and classification of the disease and this has done through using neuroimaging data. Previous work done in this area was based on traditional machine learning algorithm and they have used stacked auto encoder (SAC) for dimensionality reduction and they have achieved a classification accuracy of 83.7% during the prediction from initial symptom to final development of Alzheimer's disease. The deep learning algorithm ResNet which is implemented in this paper has shown a classification accuracy of 93% and this is also achieved without applying any dimensionality reduction approach and this has been considered as the best predictive rate on the neuroimaging data till now. The applied ResNet is the improved ResNet and the comparison of both the Resnet models are shown in this work. Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is one of the most neglected tropical diseases as per WHO which has an immense public health significance. Diagnosis of CE is difficult as specific clinical signs are manifested only after the hydatid cyst attains a considerable size. Immunodiagnosis is a reliable method of diagnosing CE.SDS-PAGE was performed for the hydatid cyst fluid antigens. The antigen purity was tested by Western blotting and four different immunoassays were evaluated using these two antigens in sheep and buffalo in diagnosis of CE.SDS-PAGE revealed four bands of 72, 64, 48 and 24 kDa for crude antigen and a single 72 kDa band for purified antigen. Among sheep sera, ELISA was most sensitive (70%) using crude antigen and also while using the purified antigen (80%). In case of buffaloes, ELISA, DID and CIEP were more sensitive (83.3%) using crude antigen, whereas DID and CIEP were more sensitive (83.3%) using purified antigen.In sheep, while using the crude antigen ELISA was the most sensitive assay and IHA was the least sensitive assay. While using the purified antigen also, ELISA was the most sensitive and others were absolutely specific except for IHA being less sensitive. In buffaloes, using crude antigen, all the immunoassays CIEP, DID and ELISA were highly sensitive in diagnosing CE infection except IHA, whereas using the purified antigen, both CIEP and DID were more sensitive than ELISA and IHA which were comparatively less sensitive in detecting CE in buffalo sera.

With the invent of displays of varied features like bendable displays, twistable displays and slant displays the feed of these displays need to be adjusted so that useful objects of the scene are not destroyed. In general, if we want to project a particular scene of specified size after capturing on the display of other dimensions, image resizing is done. In image resizing, the whole image will be converted into dimension of the target display. In the process the whole image, including all the objects may be expanded or squeezed depending on the size of the target display. But, in image retargeting, in addition to changing the size of the image to suit the target display, some additional intelligence will be added there by preserving or retaining useful objects and removing unnecessary background information. In this paper, the global significance map will drive the retargeting which is formed by merging the local significance maps. The local significance maps are derived after forming regions by considering the average intensity levels locally. The simulation results clearly show the superiority of the scheme proposed

Chromium (Cr) is a toxic environmental pollutant that majorly exists in trivalent and hexavalent forms. Though Cr(VI) is more dangerous than Cr(III), the trivalent Cr forms complexes with environmentally-available organic molecules. This makes them potentially harmful and difficult to detect. In this study, we have designed an ultrasensitive plasmonic nanosensor using citrate and PVP functionalized Ag nanoparticles (Ag-citrate-PVPNPs) for the detection of trivalent chromium organic complexes such as Cr(III)-EDTA (Cr-E), Cr(III)-acetate (Cr-A), Cr(III)-citrate (Cr-C) and Cr(III)-tartrate (Cr-T). The nanoparticles (NPs) were structurally characterized by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, SAED, EDX and elemental mapping. The citrate and PVP molecules played a vital role in the detection mechanism and stability of the sensor. Upon detection, the yellow-colored Ag-citrate-PVP NPs turned into different shades of brown depending on the type of the Cr complex and concentration. It was accompanied by diminishing and/or shifting UV-Visible absorbance peaks due to the aggregation of Ag-citrate-PVP NPs. Further, a linear relationship was observed between absorbance reduction and analyte concentration. The selectivity tests showed that the sensor was non-functional to other metal ions and inorganic anions. The sensor was optimized using pH and temperature studies. The mechanism of detection was elucidated with the help of characterization techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, XPS and UV-visible spectrophotometer. The limit of detection (LOD) was found to be 3.29, 4.87, 1.76 and 1.79 nM for Cr-E, Cr-A, Cr-C and Cr-T complexes respectively. This study provides a rapid and sensitive approach for the detection of multiple Cr(III)-organic complexes present in an aqueous solution.
