Manufacturing industry is facing new challenges in that fast-changing demands for products and services from customers push manufacturers to be more flexible and adaptive. The concept of batch-size-of-one production is presented in this paper, which defines a fully automated, highly customised, and short lead time production model. The desired batch-size-of-one production model is a promising solution for the above challenges in manufacturing industry, especially for highly customised or families of similar products like in the mobile phone industry. Along with the concept, we introduce a novel control method that enables the desired batch-size-of-one production model in operation of robots in manufacturing and assembly systems. The strategy was developed for robot control based on a distributed system to enable industrial robots to receive job commands on the fly and to conduct different jobs without the need for reconfiguration and reprogramming and without overheads. The aim of the research is to create the basis for a fully automated robot flexible assembly cell to perform batch-size-of-one assembly tasks with minimal human involvement by eliminating interruptions from the reconfiguration and reprogramming processes. The proposed strategy has been validated in practice in a multi-robot, multi-product flexible assembly cell.

Background Recently, increased attention on regenerative medicine and biological injective treatments have been proposed to restore native cartilage. Micro-fragmented adipose tissue (MFAT) has been studied for its anti-inflammatory, paracrine, and immunomodulatory effects. The long-term effects of MFAT are still poorly understood: the aim of the present study is to demonstrate how hip articular injections with autologous MFAT can have an impact on clinical outcomes. Methods Seventy-one consecutive patients affected by early hip osteoarthritis underwent an ultrasound-guided hip injection of autologous MFAT between June 2017 and December 2018. Patients were divided into four groups according to the Oxford Hip Score. All patients received 4 mL of autologous micro-fragmented adipose tissue under an ultrasound guide. A clinical evaluation was done between 29 and 41 months after the initial treatment. During this follow-up period, we recorded any new treatment the patients had done, whether that be injection or arthroplasty surgery. Results The study included 55 patients. Out of 55 patients, 28 saw benefits and were in no need of further treatment. Moreover, the score between the beginning and control increased by 6.9 points. Ten patients underwent a new articular injection: the mean time between the two injections was 635.7 ± 180 days. Seventeen patients underwent total hip replacement: the mean period between the autologous MFAT injection and the surgery was 495 days. Conclusion This study found that intra-articular injections with autologous MFAT achieve beneficial clinical results in patients affected by early to moderate hip osteoarthritis, with an OHS between 48 and 30. Furthermore, these subjects are the ideal patients for whom this treatment obtains good clinical results.

PURPOSE: To describe data on epidemiology, microbiology, clinical characteristics and outcome of adult patients admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) with secondary peritonitis, with special emphasis on antimicrobial therapy and source control. METHODS: Post hoc analysis of a multicenter observational study (Abdominal Sepsis Study, AbSeS) including 2621 adult ICU patients with intra-abdominal infection in 306 ICUs from 42 countries. Time-till-source control intervention was calculated as from time of diagnosis and classified into 'emergency' (< 2 h), 'urgent' (2-6 h), and 'delayed' (> 6 h). Relationships were assessed by logistic regression analysis and reported as odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS: The cohort included 1077 cases of microbiologically confirmed secondary peritonitis. Mortality was 29.7%. The rate of appropriate empiric therapy showed no difference between survivors and non-survivors (66.4% vs. 61.3%, p = 0.1). A stepwise increase in mortality was observed with increasing Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scores (19.6% for a value ≤ 4-55.4% for a value > 12, p < 0.001). The highest odds of death were associated with septic shock (OR 3.08 [1.42-7.00]), late-onset hospital-acquired peritonitis (OR 1.71 [1.16-2.52]) and failed source control evidenced by persistent inflammation at day 7 (OR 5.71 [3.99-8.18]). Compared with 'emergency' source control intervention (< 2 h of diagnosis), 'urgent' source control was the only modifiable covariate associated with lower odds of mortality (OR 0.50 [0.34-0.73]). CONCLUSION: 'Urgent' and successful source control was associated with improved odds of survival. Appropriateness of empirical antimicrobial treatment did not significantly affect survival suggesting that source control is more determinative for outcome. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03270345.

In this paper, we propose a globally stable adaptive controller for the human shank motion tracking problem that appears in neuromuscular electrical stimulation systems. The control problem is complicated by the fact that the mathematical model of the human shank dynamics is nonlinear and the parameters enter in a nonlinear and non-separable form. To solve the problem, we first derive a nonlinearly parameterized regressor equation (NLPRE) that is used with a new parameter estimator specifically tailored for this NLPRE. This estimator is then combined with a classical feedback linearizing controller to ensure the tracking objective is globally achieved. A further contribution of the paper is the proof that parameter convergence, and consequent global tracking, is guaranteed with an extremely weak interval excitation requirement. A simulation study comparing the proposed adaptive controller with existing ones in the literature shows comparable human shank tracking performance but with fewer parameter estimates and without requiring knowledge of bounds for the unknown parameters.

Immunology ,Cell Biology - Abstract
During recent years, considerable progress has been made in understanding the etiopathogenesis of periodontitis in its various forms and their interactions with the host. Furthermore, a number of reports have highlighted the importance of oral health and disease in systemic conditions, especially cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. In this regard, research has attempted to explain the role of periodontitis in promoting alteration in distant sites and organs. Recently, DNA sequencing studies have revealed how oral infections can occur in distant sites such as the colon, reproductive tissues, metabolic diseases, and atheromas. The objective of this review is to describe and update the emerging evidence and knowledge regarding the association between periodontitis and systemic disease and to analyse the evidence that has reported periodontitis as a risk factor for the development of various forms of systemic diseases in order to provide a better understanding of the possible shared etiopathogenetic pathways between periodontitis and the different forms of systemic diseases.

Background: The open-label, single-arm, multicenter ORZORA trial (NCT02476968) evaluated the efficacy and safety of maintenance olaparib in patients with platinum-sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer (PSR OC) who had tumor BRCA mutations (BRCAm) of germline (g) or somatic (s) origin or non-BRCA homologous recombination repair mutations (HRRm) and were in response to their most recent platinum-based chemotherapy after ≥2 lines of treatment. Methods: Patients received maintenance olaparib capsules (400mg twice daily) until disease progression. Prospective central testing at screening determined tumor BRCAm status and subsequent testing determined gBRCAm or sBRCAm status. Patients with predefined non-BRCA HRRm were assigned to an exploratory cohort. The co-primary endpoints were investigator-assessed progression-free survival (PFS; modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors v1.1) in BRCAm and sBRCAm cohorts. Secondary endpoints included health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and tolerability. Results: 177 patients received olaparib. At the primary data cut-off (17 April 2020), the median follow-up for PFS in the BRCAm cohort was 22.3months. The median PFS (95% CI) in BRCAm, sBRCAm, gBRCAm and non-BRCA HRRm cohorts was 18.0 (14.3-22.1), 16.6 (12.4-22.2), 19.3 (14.3-27.6) and 16.4 (10.9-19.3) months, respectively. Most patients with BRCAm reported improvements (21.8%) or no change (68.7%) in HRQoL and the safety profile was as expected. Conclusions: Maintenance olaparib had similar clinical activity in PSR OC patients with sBRCAm and those with any BRCAm. Activity was also observed in patients with a non-BRCA HRRm. ORZORA further supports use of maintenance olaparib in all patients with BRCA-mutated, including sBRCA-mutated, PSR OC.

Psychiatry and Mental health ,Biological Psychiatry - Abstract
Introduction: A dysbalance of the immune system in psychotic disorders has been well investigated. However, despite a higher prevalence of cannabis (THC) consumption in patients with psychosis, few studies have investigated the impact of this use on inflammatory markers. Methods: One hundred and two inpatients were included in this retrospective study. Leukocytic formula, hsCRP, fibrinogen levels and urinary THC were measured, and comparisons were performed at baseline and after 4 weeks of cannabis cessation between cannabis users (THC+) and non-users (THC−). Results: After cannabis cessation, we found a greater increase in leucocyte level (p < 0.01), monocyte level (p = 0.05) and a statistical trend to a highest increase of lymphocyte level (p = 0.06) between baseline and 4 weeks in the THC+ group as compared to the THC− group. At 4 weeks, highest leucocyte (p = 0.03), lymphocyte (p = 0.04) and monocyte (p < 0.01) counts were found in the THC+ group, whereas at baseline no difference was found. A positive correlation was found between monocyte count at 4 weeks and baseline Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) negative subscore (p = 0.045) and between the variation of monocyte count between baseline and 4 weeks and the PANSS total score at 4 weeks (p = 0.05). Conclusion: THC cessation is associated with an increase in inflammatory markers, including white blood cell, lymphocyte and monocyte levels, which correlates with symptomatology of patients with psychosis.

Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine - Abstract
This article summarizes the main electrocardiogram (ECG) findings in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) patients. Recent reports are described in the great ‘pot’ of DCM peculiar ECG patterns that are typical of specific forms of DCM. Patients with late gadolinium enhancement on CMR, who are at greatest arrhythmic risk, have also distinctive ECG features. Future studies in large DCM populations should evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of the ECG.

Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine - Abstract
Fabry disease (FD) is a rare X-linked inherited lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficient a-galactosidase A activity that leads to an accumulation of glycolipids, mainly globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) and globotriaosylsphingosine, in affected tissues, including the heart. Cardiovascular involvement usually manifests as left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), myocardial fibrosis, heart failure, and arrhythmias, which limit the quality of life and represent the most common causes of death. Following the introduction of enzyme replacement therapy, early diagnosis and treatment have become essential in slowing down the disease progression and preventing major cardiac complications. Recent advances in the understanding of FD pathophysiology suggest that in addition to Gb3 accumulation, other mechanisms contribute to the development of cardiac damage. FD cardiomyopathy is characterized by an earlier stage of glycosphingolipid accumulation and a later one of hypertrophy. Morphological and functional aspects are not specific in the echocardiographic evaluation of Anderson–Fabry disease. Cardiac magnetic resonance with tissue characterization capability is an accurate technique for the differential diagnosis of LVH. Progress in imaging techniques has improved the diagnosis and staging of FD-related cardiac disease: a decreased myocardial T1 value is specific of FD. Late gadolinium enhancement is typical of the later stage of cardiac involvement but as in other cardiomyopathy is also valuable to predict the outcome and cardiac response to therapy.

Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine - Abstract
Criteria for diagnosis of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) were first proposed in 1994 and subsequently revised in 2010 and in 2020 by an international task force. According to the last consensus of 2020, ACM is defined as a heart muscle disease affecting right ventricle, left ventricle or both, whose principal pathologic feature is fibrofatty myocardial replacement that impairs systolic ventricular function and predisposes to lethal ventricular arrhythmias. ECG findings not only could help to early recognize affected patients but also could identify the ones with maximum risk of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine - Abstract
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) can be caused by several clinical conditions, overt or misconceived, which recognize different pathophysiologies determining the development of fatal arrhythmic events. In the various forms of structural heart disease such as ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies (e.g. hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy), channelopathies (e.g. long-QT syndrome, congenital short QT, Brugada syndrome, early repolarization (ER) syndrome, and idiopathic ventricular fibrillation) but also in the apparently healthy subject, the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) has proved, over the years, to be a reliable and readily available method for stratifying the risk of adverse arrhythmic events and consequently SCD. Several electrocardiographic markers have been shown to be associated with adverse outcomes in different types of patients. Although with different sensitivity and specificity in each clinical condition, depolarization abnormalities, such as QRS fragmentation, Q waves, QRS duration, left posterior fascicular block, low QRS voltage, and left ventricular hypertrophy and similarly repolarization abnormalities as ER pattern, T wave alternans, QT interval, and QT dispersion, have shown significant efficacy in predicting SCD. Despite the advancement of techniques especially in the field of imaging, the correct interpretation of the 12-lead ECG remains, therefore, an effective tool for assessing the possible prognostic outcome in terms of arrhythmic risk and SCD in different types of patients.

This descriptive-evaluative study aimed to translate and evaluate selected Hiligaynon novels. In the translation, the following steps were followed: reading and understanding the work to fully capture the general thought, essence, and message; translation and development of the first manuscript; validation and improvement of the first manuscript based on the suggestions of experts/consultants; revising, refining, and developing the final form and evaluating the appropriateness of the translated Hiligaynon novels. Three teachers of Hiligaynon literature and language evaluated the appropriateness of the translation. The result of the evaluation showed that the translated novels were appropriate as a whole, and also appropriate according to various criteria. It was concluded that the translators possess the characteristics and knowledge of the translated works, and also have proficiency in the two languages involved in the translation. It is suggested to further polish the translation of selected Hiligaynon novels. Moreover, it is proposed to include the translated novels as teaching and reference materials for teachers, students, and researchers in schools and libraries and to carry out further translation of other Hiligaynon novels towards the development of local Ilonggo literature.

Ageing demographics have prompted widespread pension reforms across Latin America. This has left several countries with a significant financial burden related to the transition from one system to another. In this article, we evaluate two alternative methods of financing the recent pension reform in the Dominican Republic. We build on a simple real business cycle model with perfect competition and add a fiscal block that allows us to simulate shocks to the tax rates on capital and labour, based on the present value of the pension reform cost. We find that increasing the tax rate on returns to capital would not only fill the pension deficit, but also have a significantly smaller adverse effect on the macroeconomy, when compared with an increase to the tax on labour.

Pharmacology (medical) - Abstract
A common issue for long-duration balloon flights in the polar area is high bit rate data transferring. Just a few hours after launch balloons are nor reachable with direct radio link, and often satellite links are not fast enough to allow the necessary transfer rate or, simply, too expensive. For this reason, stratospheric balloon borne experiments carry out on-board data recording. Data recorded need to be recovered after termination, which is, sometimes, a slow, difficult and expensive task. Not always it is easy or possible to reach the landing site, especially during the polar winter. The aim of the project is to provide an autonomous glider capable of physically carrying the data from the stratospheric platform to a recovery point on the ground. This can also transport physical objects (like air samples) collected at float or along the flight. We estimate that an electrical motorglider released in the stratosphere can fly for several hundreds of kilometers. The glider is installed on the balloon payload through a remotely controlled release system, and connected with the main computer to receive data and the geographic coordinates of the recovery point. The glider trajectory can be monitored with Iridium SBD (Short Burst Data), and simple commands can be issued as well as using Iridium.

- Abstract
This study was conducted to document bryophyte species in a forest patch of Pres Roxas, Cotabato, Philippines. A modified belt transect method was employed and 3 transect lines were established along the human-established trail. Moreover 5 1x1m2 quadrats were randomly established in each transect line. A total of 18 species of mosses and liverworts were identified. These species were classified under 11 families, and 14 genera. Nine (9) species of bryophytes were identified from both transect 1 and 2 while in transect 3, only 5 species thrived. Of the 18 species identified, Thiudium benguetense is found in the 3 transect lines established. Two (2) were identified endemic to the Philippines - Ecthropothecium ferrugineum and Thiudium benguetense. Moreover, similarity index showed that 86% are discordant species and each transect line harbors unique species of bryophytes. It is recommended that intervention in the protection and conservation of the remaining flora community of the mountain ecosystem must be employed given that community is dependent on the water coming from it.

- Abstract
Everyone has lost their footing due to the pandemic. The academic community was unprepared, leaving both professors and students bewildered and without a sense of direction. The goal at the time was to overcome the calamity of educational discontinuity. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Education goal aims “to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” relative to this SDG and the surge of the pandemic, digital divide become prominent, altering the course of educational landscape in all levels across public and private institutions. In the Bicol region, education was delivered in many various forms and variability, predicting the future through strategic foresight could propel the region to a transformed future. This paper discusses in detail the status of education in the region and the possible scenarios using Jim Dator’s Future Scenario Archetypes, Causal Layered Analysis and through Scenario Planning Plus. Four plausible scenarios have surfaced in this paper: STUG-nation of Education, Unstable and Disarray of Educational elements, Flowing-restrained Education, and ORAGON Education. It requires multiple drivers as examined through the PESTEL that includes political, economic, social, technological, environmental, legal aspects. This study proved useful in crafting and anticipating the future scenarios of Bicol Region’s education. Preliminary as it may, this study highlighted important building blocks of future scenarios through foresight methods. Dator’s framework was proved to be very useful in developing the four scenarios, the use of other future study tools will further amplify plausible scenarios for the education of Bicol region and beyond.

- Abstract

This study aimed to describe the status of faculty wellness in terms of the eight dimensions of wellness such as emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. Also, the challenges encountered by the faculty on the eight dimensions of wellness during the new normal time. The mixed methods of research were utilized, the constructed and validated questionnaire were responded by 277 faculty members of the HEI and ten randomly selected faculty members were interviewed. The results reveal that the physical wellness got the rating of occasionally while the other seven wellness got the rating of frequently, which implies that majority of the faculty were frequently practicing or doing the item descriptions of the eight dimensions of wellness. For the challenges encountered, the findings show that the spiritual challenge had a rating of seldom while the other ten challenges got the rating of sometimes, which means that the faculty encountered most of the challenges on the other seven dimensions of wellness, and the ranked first three were physical, occupational, and social. The results of the interview present the faculty’s good and not that good experiences with coping mechanisms during the new normal time. The researchers concluded that the status of the eight dimensions of faculty wellness should always be checked and monitored to maintain a smart, healthy, and responsive faculty. Eight personal and professional development programs were proposed to maintain and enhance the faculty wellness of the faculty in the HEI.

General Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology - Abstract
The treatment of hemophilia A has progressed amazingly in recent years. Emicizumab, a bispecific-humanized monoclonal antibody, is able to improve coagulation by bridging activated factor IX and factor X. Emicizumab is administered subcutaneously and much less often compared to factor VIII products. It has low immunogenicity, does not require dose adjustment, and can be administered regardless of the presence of factor VIII inhibitors. Thrombin generation assays but not factor VIII activity are indicated to guide and monitor the treatment. Emicizumab has enabled the conversion of patients with severe forms into patients with milder forms of hemophilia A. It has reduced the number of bleeding episodes compared to both on-demand and prophylactic substitution therapy and has an excellent safety profile. Gene therapy can elevate factor VIII plasma levels for many years after a single treatment course, could offer long-term protection from bleeding episodes, and minimize or eliminate the need for substitutive treatment with factor VIII concentrates. Gene therapy can provoke an immune response, manifested by an increase in common liver enzymes, that require immunotherapy. Long term monitoring is necessary to identify possible adverse effects. Future objectives are: the development of an ideal viral vector, the possibility of its re-administration, the use of gene therapy in hemophiliac children, and determining whether it can be successfully used to induce immune tolerance to factor VIII ceteri paribus. The future will determine the place of each type of treatment and group of patients for which it is indicated.

- Abstract
This paper analyzes some of the telecommunication companies' (telcos) domestic networks' main objectives and issues related to the application services Quality of Experience (QoE), i.e., "technical QoE," and the economic sustainability of the Very High Capacity (VHC) networks. Telco domestic networks and Over The Top (OTT) networks are the Internet segments connecting the end-user equipment to the servers/clouds that provide application services. With the advent of VHC networks, telcos afford difficulties in managing effectively and efficiently the application services and their business sustainability. This paper affords some issues related to traditional telcos' domestic network architectures and the approach to managing the application services' performance improvement. Some telcos started changing their architectures, although a massive transformation had not yet started in the industry. Traditionally, telcos focus on network services, i.e., the transport of IP packets. Performance improvement is obtained by QoS-based traffic management techniques, such as bandwidth reservation and packet prioritization. To manage application performance improvement, the use of layer 4 techniques and Edge Cloud Computing (ECC) is effective, as demonstrated by the multiyear experience of OTTs which already use these technologies. In telco domestic networks, layer 2 tunnels increase the complexity of deploying ECC. However, some vendors provide non-standard solutions to make the IP layer 3 user plane visible and to deploy ECC. ECC is the key factor for the transformation. It is a mini/micro-data center that distributes some applications and content closer to the end users. The distribution can provide a paradigm shift in a telco's business. In the paper, we first highlight the need for regulators to appreciate the need to encourage this industry transformation fully.

General Medicine - Abstract
