Spatial objects often come with textual information, such as Points of Interest (POIs) with their descriptions, which are referred to as geo-textual data. To retrieve such data, spatial keyword queries that take into account both spatial proximity and textual relevance have been extensively studied. Existing indexes designed for spatial keyword queries are mostly built based on the geo-textual data without considering the distribution of queries already received. However, previous studies have shown that utilizing the known query distribution can improve the index structure for future query processing. In this paper, we propose WISK, a learned index for spatial keyword queries, which self-adapts for optimizing querying costs given a query workload. One key challenge is how to utilize both structured spatial attributes and unstructured textual information during learning the index. We first divide the data objects into partitions, aiming to minimize the processing costs of the given query workload. We prove the NP-hardness of the partitioning problem and propose a machine learning model to find the optimal partitions. Then, to achieve more pruning power, we build a hierarchical structure based on the generated partitions in a bottom-up manner with a reinforcement learning-based approach. We conduct extensive experiments on real-world datasets and query workloads with various distributions, and the results show that WISK outperforms all competitors, achieving up to 8x speedup in querying time with comparable storage overhead., Comment: PACMMOD camera-ready version with appendix. Multi-document summarization (MDS) aims to generate a summary for a number of related documents. We propose HGSUM, an MDS model that extends an encoder-decoder architecture, to incorporate a heterogeneous graph to represent different semantic units (e.g., words and sentences) of the documents. This contrasts with existing MDS models which do not consider different edge types of graphs and as such do not capture the diversity of relationships in the documents. To preserve only key information and relationships of the documents in the heterogeneous graph, HGSUM uses graph pooling to compress the input graph. And to guide HGSUM to learn compression, we introduce an additional objective that maximizes the similarity between the compressed graph and the graph constructed from the ground-truth summary during training. HGSUM is trained end-to-end with graph similarity and standard cross-entropy objectives. Experimental results over MULTI-NEWS, WCEP-100, and ARXIV show that HGSUM outperforms state-of-the-art MDS models. Hypergraphs can model higher-order relationships among data objects that are found in applications such as social networks and bioinformatics. However, recent studies on hypergraph learning that extend graph convolutional networks to hypergraphs cannot learn effectively from features of unlabeled data. To such learning, we propose a contrastive hypergraph neural network, CHGNN, that exploits self-supervised contrastive learning techniques to learn from labeled and unlabeled data. First, CHGNN includes an adaptive hypergraph view generator that adopts an auto-augmentation strategy and learns a perturbed probability distribution of minimal sufficient views. Second, CHGNN encompasses an improved hypergraph encoder that considers hyperedge homogeneity to fuse information effectively. Third, CHGNN is equipped with a joint loss function that combines a similarity loss for the view generator, a node classification loss, and a hyperedge homogeneity loss to inject supervision signals. It also includes basic and cross-validation contrastive losses, associated with an enhanced contrastive loss training process. Experimental results on nine real datasets offer insight into the effectiveness of CHGNN, showing that it outperforms 13 competitors in terms of classification accuracy consistently., Comment: 14 pages, 11 figures

The task of entity alignment between knowledge graphs (KGs) aims to identify every pair of entities from two different KGs that represent the same entity. Many machine learning-based methods have been proposed for this task. However, to our best knowledge, existing methods all require manually crafted seed alignments, which are expensive to obtain. In this paper, we propose the first fully automatic alignment method named TransAlign, which does not require any manually crafted seed alignments. Specifically, for predicate embeddings, TransAlign constructs a predicate-proximity-graph to automatically capture the similarity between predicates across two KGs by learning the attention of entity types. For entity embeddings, TransAlign first computes the entity embeddings of each KG independently using TransE, and then shifts the two KGs' entity embeddings into the same vector space by computing the similarity between entities based on their attributes. Thus, both predicate alignment and entity alignment can be done without manually crafted seed alignments. TransAlign is not only fully automatic, but also highly effective. Experiments using real-world KGs show that TransAlign improves the accuracy of entity alignment significantly compared to state-of-the-art methods.

We present PeerSum, a new MDS dataset using peer reviews of scientific publications. Our dataset differs from the existing MDS datasets in that our summaries (i.e., the meta-reviews) are highly abstractive and they are real summaries of the source documents (i.e., the reviews) and it also features disagreements among source documents. We found that current state-of-the-art MDS models struggle to generate high-quality summaries for PeerSum, offering new research opportunities., Comment: This is because the paper has changed so much and the arxiv paper no longer represents the PeerSum

While federated learning has shown strong results in optimizing a machine learning model without direct access to the original data, its performance may be hindered by intermittent client availability which slows down the convergence and biases the final learned model. There are significant challenges to achieve both stable and bias-free training under arbitrary client availability. To address these challenges, we propose a framework named Federated Graph-based Sampling (FedGS), to stabilize the global model update and mitigate the long-term bias given arbitrary client availability simultaneously. First, we model the data correlations of clients with a Data-Distribution-Dependency Graph (3DG) that helps keep the sampled clients data apart from each other, which is theoretically shown to improve the approximation to the optimal model update. Second, constrained by the far-distance in data distribution of the sampled clients, we further minimize the variance of the numbers of times that the clients are sampled, to mitigate long-term bias. To validate the effectiveness of FedGS, we conduct experiments on three datasets under a comprehensive set of seven client availability modes. Our experimental results confirm FedGS's advantage in both enabling a fair client-sampling scheme and improving the model performance under arbitrary client availability. Trajectory similarity measures act as query predicates in trajectory databases, making them the key player in determining the query results. They also have a heavy impact on the query efficiency. An ideal measure should have the capability to accurately evaluate the similarity between any two trajectories in a very short amount of time. Towards this aim, we propose a contrastive learning-based trajectory modeling method named TrajCL. We present four trajectory augmentation methods and a novel dual-feature self-attention-based trajectory backbone encoder. The resultant model can jointly learn both the spatial and the structural patterns of trajectories. Our model does not involve any recurrent structures and thus has a high efficiency. Besides, our pre-trained backbone encoder can be fine-tuned towards other computationally expensive measures with minimal supervision data. Experimental results show that TrajCL is consistently and significantly more accurate than the state-of-the-art trajectory similarity measures. After fine-tuning, i.e., to serve as an estimator for heuristic measures, TrajCL can even outperform the state-of-the-art supervised method by up to 56% in the accuracy for processing trajectory similarity queries.

Conversation disentanglement, the task to identify separate threads in conversations, is an important pre-processing step in multi-party conversational NLP applications such as conversational question answering and conversation summarization. Framing it as a utterance-to-utterance classification problem -- i.e. given an utterance of interest (UOI), find which past utterance it replies to -- we explore a number of transformer-based models and found that BERT in combination with handcrafted features remains a strong baseline. We then build a multi-task learning model that jointly learns utterance-to-utterance and utterance-to-thread classification. Observing that the ground truth label (past utterance) is in the top candidates when our model makes an error, we experiment with using bipartite graphs as a post-processing step to learn how to best match a set of UOIs to past utterances. Experiments on the Ubuntu IRC dataset show that this approach has the potential to outperform the conventional greedy approach of simply selecting the highest probability candidate for each UOI independently, indicating a promising future research direction., Comment: accepted in ALTA 2021

Learned indices using neural networks have been shown to outperform traditional indices such as B-trees in both query time and memory. However, learning the distribution of a large dataset can be expensive, and updating learned indices is difficult, thus hindering their usage in practical applications. In this paper, we address the efficiency and update issues of learned indices through agile model reuse. We pre-train learned indices over a set of synthetic (rather than real) datasets and propose a novel approach to reuse these pre-trained models for a new (real) dataset. The synthetic datasets are created to cover a large range of different distributions. Given a new dataset DT, we select the learned index of a synthetic dataset similar to DT, to index DT. We show a bound over the indexing error when a pre-trained index is selected. We further show how our techniques can handle data updates and bound the resultant indexing errors. Experimental results on synthetic and real datasets confirm the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed lazy (model reuse) approach.

Next point-of-interest (POI) recommendation aims to offer suggestions on which POI to visit next, given a user's POI visit history. This problem has a wide application in the tourism industry, and it is gaining an increasing interest as more POI check-in data become available. The problem is often modeled as a sequential recommendation problem to take advantage of the sequential patterns of user check-ins, e.g., people tend to visit Central Park after The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Recently, self-attentive networks have been shown to be both effective and efficient in general sequential recommendation problems, e.g., to recommend products, video games, or movies. Directly adopting self-attentive networks for next POI recommendation, however, may produce sub-optimal recommendations. This is because vanilla self-attentive networks do not consider the spatial and temporal patterns of user check-ins, which are two critical features in next POI recommendation. To address this limitation, in this paper, we propose a model named SANST that incorporates spatio-temporal patterns of user check-ins into self-attentive networks. To incorporate the spatial patterns, we encode the relative positions of POIs into their embeddings before feeding the embeddings into the self-attentive network. To incorporate the temporal patterns, we discretize the time of POI check-ins and model the temporal relationship between POI check-ins by a relation-aware self-attention module. We evaluate the performance of our SANST model with three real-world datasets. The results show that SANST consistently outperforms the state-of-theart models, and the advantage in nDCG@10 is up to 13.65%.

We present a new class of service for location based social networks, called the Flexible Group Spatial Keyword Query, which enables a group of users to collectively find a point of interest (POI) that optimizes an aggregate cost function combining both spatial distances and keyword similarities. In addition, our query service allows users to consider the tradeoffs between obtaining a sub-optimal solution for the entire group and obtaining an optimimized solution but only for a subgroup. We propose algorithms to process three variants of the query: (i) the group nearest neighbor with keywords query, which finds a POI that optimizes the aggregate cost function for the whole group of size n, (ii) the subgroup nearest neighbor with keywords query, which finds the optimal subgroup and a POI that optimizes the aggregate cost function for a given subgroup size m (m, 12 pages

Dealing with Large acceleration and jerk of carrier is necessary for High dynamic navigation receiver which has a great practical value on applying directly to the military and also has a higher requirements for the measurement accuracy. In this paper, the characteristics of different troposphere model is analyzed, the characteristics of high dynamic navigation receiver and the basic formula of the positioning speed measurement algorithm are also analyzed. The Hopfield troposphere delay model is applied to the actual high dynamic receiver, and mede comparisons with the measuring result of the old troposphere delay model. Test results show that through using the Hopfield model , the positional accuracy is improved, and the error problem which generated by the influence of the troposphere delay is eliminated.

Data transmission is an important embodiment for the application of computer, CPCI bus becomes the mainstream of computer bus because of its excellent properties. As a result, data transmission that based on the CPCI bus is widely used. The paper mainly introduces the research and implementation of the system that the PC transmits data with FPGA through CPCI bus. Using VC++6.0 to develop PC program, using PCI9054 chip of PLX company as the interface, using VC++6.0 + DDK + DriverStudio3.1 to establish environment which used to develop driver. The final results of the data transmission are given by means of describing and analyzing the specific implementation about each part.

In the thesis, two pieces of tri-mode navigation receiver board are respectively used as base station and mobile station, communicate through RS232 serial port, which can form a difference positioning system. By analyzing principle of pseudorange differential positioning and the methods of RTCM encoding and decoding, to make them implementation respectively in DSP of the base station and mobile receivers. The experimental results show that accuracy can be doubled by pseudorange differential positioning. It fully verifies correctness of the algorithm and provides a basis for further study.

In this paper, a new type of self-adaptation mechanism for survivability is proposed. It incorporates intrusion deception and uses it for unknown attack data collection. Attack information is extracted from the collected data through behavior analysis. Different measures are taken to deal with different types of attacks to form new rules. For example, signature generation is used against vulnerability utilization and slammer attacks. Then, the new rules are embedded into the network system to make it self-adaptive against unknown attacks. The concept system of this type of mechanism, its automata model and related formal description and the implementation of the key components are illustrated in this paper.
