Introduction. The relevance of the study consists in the issue of maintaining mental health, which occupies an increasingly important place in the context of the humanization of society nowadays. There is a necessity not only to prevent the occurrence of mental disorders in the general population but also to promote mental health through the facilitation and interaction of individuals in various interpersonal relationships. Considering the natural laws of the human psyche as a system with the abilities of self-organization and self-development, facilitation becomes possible due to the special nature of interpersonal interaction. Therefore, it is appropriate to consider the features and phenomena of facilitation in interpersonal parent-child relationships and professional-role relationships: teacher-student, psychotherapist-client, the relationships as means of supporting and promoting the functioning of the communicator psyche, maintaining its systemic characteristics as an open dynamic biological system with a feedback feature. Purpose of the article is to analyze the possibilities and obstacles of using methods and techniques of facilitation to ensure the mental hygiene of interpersonal relationships; to present facilitation as the ability to form, maintain, preserve the mental health of communication subjects; to consider facilitation as means to form sanogenic potential of personality, which is manifested not only in the protection and preservation of mental health but also in the ability to self-realization, creativity, self-development, self-regulation, etc., as well as in high-stress resistance and the ability to adapt to different life circumstances. It is about interpersonal relations between participants of social and psychological interaction where one of them is the subject of influence, and the other is the object of influence: parent-child, teacher-student, psychotherapist-client, еtc. Methods. Leading research methods are analysis and synthesis of theoretical concepts, modern developments in practical psychology and psychotherapy, scientific developments on the phenomenon of facilitation in interpersonal relationships, including pedagogical facilitation, materials of supervisions with factual, empirical materials, webinars, and presentations of modern leading experts in the theory of object relationships, trauma therapy, psychodrama therapy, for in-depth consideration of psyche phenomena, its systemic properties, and characteristics of the functioning laws, ontogenesis, interpersonal interaction, and influence. Originality. The scientific originality and practical significance of the study lie in the fact that interpersonal relationships are considered from the angle of their facilitation, focusing on maintaining and forming a healthy functioning of the individual’s psyche with emphasis on its natural systemic qualities associated with self-programming, self-organization, self-development. It demonstrates the high responsibility of participants of interpersonal interactions, such as parent-child, teacher-student, psychotherapist-client relationships because of impact on the mental activity of the subject’s personality, which leads to distortions in self-adjusting, self-regulatory mechanisms of the psyche in case of wrong, stressful, nonhygienic influence. In case of insufficient subtle sensitivity of the mother in the mother-child relationships, when there is a high level of the child's needs frustration and a lot of stressful situations, the mental tools of the psyche, which include correlation and interactions between cognitive-emotional, motivational-regulatory processes, reflection, mentalization, the symbolization of experience, the image of itself and other people, could be distorted. It leads to the distortion of self-other relationships, as in the case of narcissistic personality disorders, the interpretation and understanding of which is presented from the angle of the problem of attachment and protective mechanisms violation, developmental traumas. The article presents an understanding of the theoretical justifications for the facilitation of interpersonal relationships, neurobiological, neurophysiological correlates with the phenomena of facilitation and inhibition in interpersonal relationships. The practical results of the facilitation application are described through the interaction of the teacher with students during classes and the interaction of psychotherapists and clients during consultations. Conclusion prospects for further research. In the facilitation interactions of teacher-student were phenomena of positive subjective feeling of comfort, freedom, creative activity, expansion of consciousness in general with the production of new thoughts, views, formation and assimilation of new knowledge, etc. in both participants of communicative interaction – students and teacher. The facilitation interaction of the Ph.D. student as a specialist-psychologist with the client was realized due to deep empathic penetration into the inner world of the client with narcissistic disorder and effective professional work. A further perspective of research is the task of disseminating the experience of facilitation interaction for different types of interpersonal relationships, developing programs and methodological support for purposefully organized training in methods and techniques of facilitation as a means of maintaining the hygienic nature of various interpersonal relationships.
