The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) has been very taxing to healthcare systems worldwide. As resources are diverted to treat COVID‐19, capacity for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of other diseases is reduced, resulting in delays and waiting lists. This is particularly important in the context of oncology, namely breast cancer. All patients with suspicious breast lesions need pathological confirmation of malignancy in order to be treated; unfortunately, many of these procedures have been delayed. Nowadays these lesions are usually diagnosed using core needle biopsies (CNB). When compared to fine‐needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB), they are perceived to be more precise and provide better material for biomarker testing. However, FNABs are quicker to perform, less costly and minimally invasive, which would seem advantageous in the context of growing waiting lists. We would invite the reader to challenge their preconceptions of breast FNABs: not only have ancillary tests have been shown to be viable on both smears and cell blocks but, in 2019, the Yokohama System for Reporting Breast Fine‐Needle Aspiration Biopsy Cytopathology was developed and validated, enabling an accurate and reproducible categorization of breast lesions, significantly reducing the need for follow‐up CNBs. Thus, the major limitations of breast FNABs have been addressed. Furthermore, they are less invasive, leading to a lower risk of infection for personnel when standard biosafety procedures are followed. The right tool must be chosen for the right task. In the world of COVID‐19, FNABs may yet again prove a valuable and even essential diagnostic tool for symptomatic breast lesions.

The expected increase in the number of electric vehicles (EVs) creates a challenge for electric power utilities, as they result in increased demand and changes in the systems load profile. Therefore, distribution utilities need to overcome technical challenges to effectively integrate an increasing number of these vehicles into their networks, thus enabling the creation of substantial benefits for the energy system. EVs not only demand electrical energy but can also inject it to the network in certain circumstances, in the so-called Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) mode. It enables a variety of services to the grid, facilitating the use of automotive batteries as a mobile and short-term storage. In this context, this dissertation aims to analyze the challenges of implementing the V2G mode in electricity distribution systems, from the point of view of providing network ancillary services, such as support for the generation of energy by intermittent renewable source, peak shaving and voltage regulation. This work analyzes measurement of the first documented V2G carried out on a real secondary network in Brazil, with residential and commercial consumers simultaneously connected. This experimentation motivated to develop studies via computer simulation of a real low voltage electrical system. This work also presents a survey of the current technological situation of the EV operation in V2G, historical information, methodologies for connection to electrical networks, norms, standards, protocols and players that will enable this environment of interaction between EV owners and operators of the electrical system, the implementation challenges and their benefits, as well as experiences from other V2G projects in the world Mestrado Energia Elétrica Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica CPqD/Campinas

Additional file 1: Fig. S1. Evaluation of average HUT102 EV sizes via NanoTracking Analysis (NTA). EVs from HUT102 cell supernatants were isolated via differential ultracentrifugation. Peak size of 2 k, 10 k, and 100 k EVs from HUT102 cells was analyzed by NTA. Fig. S2. Evaluation of protein cargo associated to distinct EV populations from ATL-16 cells. EVs from the HTLV-1 infected cell line, ATL-16, were isolated via differential ultracentrifugation at speeds of 2000 × g, 10,000 × g, and 100,000 × g, as described previously for HUT102 cells, resulting in 2 k, 10 k, and 100 k ATL-16 EVs. Proteins were evaluated via Western blot analysis for viral, cellular, and EV markers. Fig. S3. Validation of siRNA treatment on HTVL-1 infected cells. HTLV-1 infected cells (HUT102; Donor cells) were treated with scrambled (lane 1), CD45 (lane 2), and ICAM-1 (lane 3) siRNA to suppress translation of the target transcripts. Subsequently, EVs were isolated, as described previously, and protein content evaluated using Western blot for CD45, ICAM-1, and Actin. Fig. S4. RT-PCR for HTLV-1 RNA in EV Subpopulations. HTLV-1 infected cells (HUT102) were cultured and allowed to incubate for five days prior to separation of supernatant away from cells and subsequent separation of EVs into three EV subpopulations (2 k, 10 k and 100 k EVs). The viral RNA levels for env and tax were evaluated using RT-qPCR, and GAPDH as a control for cellular RNA. Statistical analyses were performed using two-tailed Student’s t test with significance indicated by “**” for p ≤ 0.01 and “***” for p ≤ 0.001.

Em termos gerais, a segunda se mostrou mais eficiente na prevenção do colapso econômico, enquanto a primeira se mostrou menos efetiva para o caso brasileiro Abstract: Current scientific evidences have been indicating that global warming is in fact real and that global temperature rises could become catastrophic and irreversible if nothing is done to prevent it. Amidst this debate, different economic schools of thought have been debating their visions and policies to face the problem. Here we intended to take part in this debate by building a growth model for the Brazilian economy which causes and is affected by climate change. In order to do that, we worked with two heterodox frameworks: stock-flow consistent models (SFC) and Sraffian Supermultiplier models. We've also compared the two major propositions in the literature: the limits to growth agenda and the decoupling hypothesis. In general, the latter seemed more effective in preventing economic collapse, while the first seemed less effective for the Brazilian case Mestrado Teoria Econômica Mestre em Ciências Econômicas CAPES 1576970

Weisberg and Muldoon’s epistemic landscape model (ELM) has been one of the most significant contributions to the use of agent-based models in philosophy. The model provides an innovative approach to establishing the optimal distribution of cognitive labor in scientific communities, using an epistemic landscape. In the paper, we provide a critical examination of ELM. First, we show that the computing mechanism for ELM is correct insofar as we are able to replicate the results using another programming language. Second, we show that small changes in the rules that determine the behavior of individual agents can lead to important changes in simulation results. Accordingly, we claim that ELM results are robust with respect to the computing mechanism, but not necessarily across parameter space. We conclude by reflecting on the possible lessons to be gained from ELM as a class of simulations or cluster of models.

This study evaluated the effects of diets with different levels of digestible energy and crude protein, maintaining the energy: protein ratio in 10 kcal of digestible energy: g crude protein on the growth performance, proximal composition, ammonia excretion rate and hematological variables of the juveniles piavuçu Leporinus macrocephalus (Garavello & Britski, 1988). We used 180 juvenile piavuçu (22.23 ± 0.31 g) distributed in 12 tanks in recirculation system (15 fish per tank). The animals were fed four different diets defined by the ratio of digestible energy (DE): crude protein (CP), as follows: 2300 kcal ED kg-1 : 230 g PB kg-1, 2800 kcalED kg-1 : 280 g PB kg-1, 3300 kcal ED kg-1: 330 g PB kg-1e 3800 kcal ED kg-1: 380 g PB kg-1.The experiment lasted 60 days and the feeding was done twice a day (9 and 16 h). To obtain the data of growth performance, all fish were anaesthetized with benzocaine hydrochloride (50 ppm) and underwent biometrics at 0, 30 and 60 days. To collect other data, nine fish of each treatment (three fish per replicate) were used for blood collection. After the animals were euthanized with benzocaine hydrochloride (250 ppm), followed by the cord section, for sampling tissues (liver, muscle and carcass). Tissue samples were used for analysis of glycogen in the liver and muscle and proximal composition of carcasses. Blood was used to determine the biochemical parameters resulting from different dietary treatments. For the determination of ammonia excretion rate, 9 fish per treatment were distributed individually in aquariums 6L of water. The ammonia excretion rate was estimated every 2 h during the first 12 hours and after 4 h the remaining 12 hours. It was also estimated the basal excretion rate of animals, fasted 24 hr. The growth performance of fish fed diets 3300 kcal ED kg-1: 330 g PB kg-1 e 3800 kcal ED kg-1: 380 g PB kg-1was significantly higher than the other treatments. The deposition of glycogen in liver was higher in animals fed with 3800 kcal ED kg-1: 380 gPB kg-1 while the deposition of glycogen in muscle was higher in the animals fed with 2300kcal ED kg-1 : 230 g PB kg-1. The ash content and moisture were significantly lower while the 8deposition of lipids in the carcass was significantly higher in animals fed the diet 3800 kcalED kg-1: 380 g PB kg-1. The deposition of protein in carcass was significantly lower in the animals fed the diet containing 2300 kcal ED kg-1: 230 g PB kg-1. The ammonia excretion ratewas significantly higher in all animals fed when compared to basal metabolism, being higher in animals fed diets 3300 kcal ED kg-1: 330 g PB kg-1 and e 3800 kcal ED kg-1: 380 g PB kg-1.The results showed that diets with levels of 3800 kcal ED and 380 g PB 3800 kcal DE of diet provide positive effect over the growth performance of juvenile piavuçu.

By adapting the notion of chirality group, the duality group of $\cal H$ can be defined as the the minimal subgroup $D({\cal H}) \trianglelefteq Mon({\cal H})$ such that ${\cal H}/D({\cal H})$ is a self-dual hypermap (a hypermap isomorphic to its dual). Here, we prove that for any positive integer $d$, we can find a hypermap of that duality index (the order of $D({\cal H})$), even when some restrictions apply, and also that, for any positive integer $k$, we can find a non self-dual hypermap such that $|Mon({\cal H})|/d=k$. This $k$ will be called the \emph{duality coindex} of the hypermap., Comment: 13 pages, 1 figure
